Touch Screens or Non-Touch Screens?

Something that just got me curious is all. And I know, the title isn't creative :(

Which do you prefer? Touch Screen phones or Non-Touch Screen phones?

Recently I purchased a touch-screen phone that I actually enjoy. Still, I prefer regular phones with a real keyboard/buttons though.

Personally, I like non touch screen phones better, as they can be easier to use, and you don't have to take your damn gloves off whenever you need your phone!

The weird thing is, I own an iPod Touch </3

Touch screen devices seem pretty nifty, but they might get easily dirty... But I still find them cool. ;) Yes, I like using touch-screen phones.

iPhone ftw!

I love touch screens, but only if they're really sensitive and whatever I'm working on has a sleek operating system. I love Apple products; they work very well.

This thread deals with technology, so I sent this over to Computers and Tech instead. Please don't eat me twocows if I screwed up :(

I hate my current iPhone, really don't like touch screens XD;
I want my old flip up mobile back ♥

I could use both really. I have gotten use to touch screen phones, but I would have to say I do prefer the touch screen smart phones.

Alistair December 8th, 2010 3:11 PM

I would rather have a phone that offers both, in a similar style to the Palm Centro. While I do like touchscreens (resistive or capacitive, it doesn't matter to me), I need buttons for certain things, i.e. typing.

Even though I play with my uncle's iPhone all the time, I will actually dislike my phone if it is touch-screen. Ironic, because I love the iPod Touch.

I prefer my slider phone with a keyboard. I actually told my parent that I would not use any other phone except the slider or flip phone. I'm not good with the keyboard that some of the touch-screen phones have. Not only that, but I really don't like how there's about a thousand apps for phones now.

... Like, do you really need all that for a phone? Because last time I checked, a phone was designed for talking, texting, and taking pictures (with really bad qualities).

MysticFlames December 8th, 2010 3:35 PM

I have no problem with touch screens, but in a phone I would really prefer a keyboard. At times, anyway, the touch screen really just feels unnecessary. Just a "hey look, a touch screen," like the Rumor Touch. I have a Rumor 2 and really don't see why it would need a touch screen.

I guess I'm one who doesn't feel the need to have a phone that does everything. I'm a high schooler that only needs the phone for calls/texts, why should I spend hundreds of dollars on an iPhone just for the sake of having an iPhone? So unnecessary.

Non-Touch Screen.
Due to the fact those are the only phones I've only ever actually used XD;

Legobricks December 8th, 2010 4:02 PM

Well as far as phones go, all I want to do is enter a number, hold the device to the side of my head and talk. I don't see a phone as needing a screen of any kind at all, beyond a small strip displaying the number, signal and battery information. I use buttoned devices all the time so touch-screens just don't occur to me as intuitive, and I don't want to try because they just have all these problems with imprecision and being easily broken.

Gerri Shin December 8th, 2010 5:01 PM

I like touchscreens as long as they are capacitive and not resistive. (resistive is so finicky and styli are unintuitive unless you are indoors or not in a hurry)
I do like tactile feedback from physical keyboards, but after a while it becomes hard to distinguish the end of one key and the start of another, so I prefer to take out the entire bit.

Cherrim December 8th, 2010 5:10 PM

I vastly prefer my touchscreen phone over my old one except for the keyboard. :( I really miss having a slide out qwerty board because a tactile keyboard is so much easier to use. I find it so much harder to hit the proper keys on my current phone.

But other things like web browsing or even scrolling through contacts is so much easier, so it kind of balances out.

PlatinumDude December 9th, 2010 12:36 AM

I prefer touch screens because they're more fun to use than the standard buttons. The only catch is that I have to clean them daily.

Brendino December 9th, 2010 1:21 AM

I prefer to use actual buttons as opposed to a keyboard on the screen, but touch screens are a lot easier to navigate with. I know that some phones have both a slide out keyboard and a touch screen, so I would probably like using one of those the most.
