Patriotism
Are you proud of your nationality?
If so, why? If not, why not? |
Not really. I don't think it's because I dislike my country either, I just don't see what the point in being patriotic is.
|
Eh, I'm proud, but mainly because... someone needs to be. Hating America is so cool nowadays. :/
|
Its a mixture of yes, and no.
Makes me say yes because our country is great and I can't describe it in words. Makes me say no, because our government is crap. |
I'm proud of my nationality because I know that there aren't a lot of prominent Filipinos around. We also have a diverse culture.
|
Yes I am proud of my nationality. I have pride in American achievements, innovations, and history. There are also things that that I am disdan about the country as well past and present. The thing is there are pro's and cons with ever country, I realize there is no perfect country.

Anyway, I wouldn't say that I'm proud to be American, but I wouldn't say I hate it either. I don't know. I'm neutrual. I just feel like there's no reason to be proud, but I can't complain either. Y'know what I mean? |
When independence is achieved through mass struggles and sacrifices, it is ought to be celebrated. Patriotism, therefore I believe is necessary. One should be proud of his nationality and so am I.
|
I didn't choose where I was born, so it's nothing I can really be proud of. :/
Upon immigrating from Mexico sixty years back, my grandparents were quite proud to be able to call themselves American, though. XD |
I am happy of my nationality.
Normally, we are civilized people and I am proud of who I am. |
What kind of nationality is "American"? American is just a conglomeration of all of the other nationalities in the world, so I guess that would mean I don't really have a nationality.
Well, I could call myself English, but the English would hate me for it. Hahahaha |
I am proud of my nationality.because of it's history and achievements.
|
Yeah I'm Asian, and Asians rule have done lots of cool stuff, especially anime like Pokemon. XD
To narrow it down and be more specific to Vietnamese, yes, I still am since people ask: Are you Chinese? You can say: No, I'm Vietnamese. And they usually never heard of it so it's fun to mess up their minds. ;P |
I'm patriotic to the way of life Aussies live, but over here nobody's like they are in America. Nobody puts their hand on their heart during the national anthem (mainly because it's a crap anthem), but put Queen or something on at the footy and everyone will sing along. That's what's great about Australia. The Australian is "she'll be right mate" and just having a go. Of course, in reality not everyone is like this, but a lot of us are pretty laid back compared to those in other countries.
Unfortunately, if you're patriotic over here it means you're incredibly racist. The only people who fly Australian flags apart from on Australia Day are people who bash overseas students or Muslims or whatever (these bashers are idiots and by no means representing all of Australia). If you try to fly an Australian flag in your yard the local council will come around and make you pay a fine or take it down because they've had a complaint about it. |
I love being English and am proud of our history so yes, I am patriotic. I find it weird how Americans direct their patriotism towards their flag though and how offensive they find it when it is burnt. I suppose they don't have a figurehead like our Queen.
|
Meh, I'm not too fond of patriotism. Why should I be proud of something that I haven't achieved myself, it's just there.
|
Me, patriotic? Mhm, I guess you could say that. But at the same time, I can't really say that I'm 100% proud of my nation. Yes, I'm pretty proud ..because of the diversity of people and culture, numerous achievements and probably our golden history. So yeah, probably.
|
I didn't choose where I was born and I haven't changed my citizenship to that of another country. I suppose if I did I might be inclined to a little patriotism, but that's really not in me.
I can respect the ideals that particular nations uphold. It's the ideals of a nation, I hope, that accounts for patriotic feeling, but ideals are bigger than nations. I don't like the U.S.; I like democracy. And so on. |
I'm an American citizen. I'm proud of it, but not terribly much, I suppose. The US is awesome in some respects and awful in others; it's how all countries are, in the end. You think I would be more patriotic because my mom served in the Air Force for 20 years...
|
Not really, because I've lived in America since before I was a year old and I never had any memories of my native South Korea. Plus there's that whole issue they have with their northern counterpart... and because I don't especially care for Korean-built cars.
