OMG OMG vampire!
Do you think Twilight is overrated?
If so, why? If,not, why not? My answer: Do you think Twilight is overrated? yes, very. the thread title is what twilight fans do when they watch those movies. If so, why? The movies, are bad, but everyone says there good. thats really all. actually, another reason is Twilight is plain annoying. |
Actually quite the contrary the way I see it. People are always complaining how Twilight is so bad. It seems alright to me, I'm not one of the over-excited fans though.
|
Twilight's ok i guess
i prefer the books better then the films |
I suppose so. I've watched it once or twice and to be honest I couldn't get into it.It just seemed too much Doom, Gloom, Love and Lust to fit my liking. I don't have a problem with the screaming, obsessed fangirls or fan in general that love it, but myself perosnally; I don't like it.
It's not a matter of it being overrated. I think it's a matter of personal taste and personal satisfaction, leisure and enjoyment. |
It's not overrated because people ***** about it all the time like Kelp said. Not that I like it though, it's a total mess.
|
The Twilight series is compleeetely overrated. I've read all the books and watched the first two movies, so I'm not just saying it.
The books are very simply written (at some points, words are even used wrong) and there's pretty much no plot other than girl who's caught between two guys, one who happens to be a vampire and one who happens to be a werewolf (or, "shape-shifter" or whatever they called it). Bella and Edward's relationship isn't even realistic at all. Everyone points this out, but it's no less true, but who would like it if a guy snuck into your room and just creeped. That's not romantic. That's weird. The second book is all about her horrendously overreacting about losing a guy she's known for not even a year. I frankly don't remember what happens in the third book and sure, by the last book there's a pretty intense build up to an epic fight and end to the series... but that's it. Just build up. Like the whole book is just build up that goes nowhere. And then there's a lot of just weird and creepy stuff like getting her baby chewed out of her. Ick. And the movies? Twilight was horrid. I swear to God, 3/4's of it is silence, all with everyone having the same blank expression. New Moon was better, I s'pose, but forgettable. I heard that Eclipse was much better than the first two, but I don't know. I think I'm fine without watching it. |
Moved this to Culture & Media, since Twilight's a book/movie series. My apologies if this isn't allowed. ^^;
|
Since when have you been a-
...0_0 Woah. Anyway. Personally, because I've never seen/read anything in the series, I have no right to judge. The fans, however... Dull Stone Beheading is too merciful. I prefer Eastern vampires. |
I think Twilight is overrated because I don't really like how so many girls imagine themselves to be in Bella's position. I'm also not fond of the "Team Edward vs. Team Jacob" concept.
|
I think it gets too much bad press. I feel like it's actually done some good overall. I'm for anything that gets people reading, even if it is very bad literature. It's perfect for people who want to break into reading, a gateway book if you will, and I expect that a lot of the fans of the books will move on to better things that they wouldn't have thought of without these books.
|
Do you think Twilight is overrated?
Yes. I can't stand it. It is horribly bad written romance that just drags in stupid people. If so, why? I have watched half of the first movie, because I wanted to see what the fuss was, but I had to stop it because I couldn't bring myself to watch anymore. The books are bad, but the films are on a whole new level of being horribly bad. They only really appeal to teenage girls and GOD do they make it into something that it isn't, in this case, good. |
Kelp and Scarf pretty much sum up my own thoughts.
Is it overrated? I wouldn't say so. I think the real question is if whether or not one thinks the fans are overrated. To me, they just get over hyped about it. I don't even think I've ever seen Harry Potter fans get this crazed, and there are some pretty hardcore fans out there for the HP series. I've read the first book which I found to be pretty good considering I didn't read much at that time, but I just never got around the the others because I was too lazy to get into them. ): I've been keeping up with the movies though, and they seem pretty decent. I guess I'm just not one of those who go, "OMG OMG vampire!" I will say this though. The Twilight Series really made a big impact on the popularity of vampires today. |
Nothing is truly overrated in a sense, a work is only as good/bad as it's audience perceives it to be.
Personally, I detest Twilight, but that's really all I can say on the subject. |
I miss the days when vampires were things of terror and not your average preteen female fantasy lover.
Honestly, I think the vampire trend needs to die. |
Do you think Twilight is overrated?
I never read the books and I've only seen the first and half of the second movie so my opinion on it doesn't have too much of a basis. It does seem a little over hyped for something I don't find that interesting. I will say, the girl in me did find the first movie to be an amazing perfect romance that I would love to happen to myself. :D :D :D :D Everything else is a little too much for me. If so, why? Some things just come off as cheesy. The fact that the vampires sparkle in sunlight, the addition of muscle man werewolves, and the really over done dramatic scenes are just a few of the reasons why I don't hold it in the highest regard. I feel like it loses a lot of its seriousness with all the thrown in extras. Interview With A Vampire is far superior... for myself anyways. :) |
Quote:
Because, the movies suck, the plot is terrible, Edward has an abusive relationship, and since when did vampires shine in sunlight? They're supposed to die. |
twilight is just a fantasy of stephanie meyers of having two guys after her. the reason she had to use vampires is beyond me
|
Tremendously badly written tripe.
|
I think overly obsessed fans make the series look bad. I don't particularly like it, but I don't think it's trash. It's average, and in my opinion, unremarkable.
But I'm not a member if its demographic, as is the case with most people who rip on it. |
It doesn't always need fans to make it look bad (though I admit they don't help), from a literary perspective it's terrible.
|
A little bit. It's a good book and all that, but it gets too much praise. The book itself is okay. The movie, eh. It was mediocre, but it's a decent movie adaption.
But vampires aren't all that interesting - certainly not enough to have seventy different freaking series about them. They like blood and they hang in coffins. I'm twitching with excitement. I've noticed teenage girls are die hard fanatics for things they care about. But, then again, that's my opinion. |
As stated above, the franchise is a little too praised for what it is. It's about a person falling in love with a vampire. Seriously, what's the big hype? It's kind of like any other romance book/film. It is overrated in my opinion.
|
If there's one thing that I learned after reading an even better vampire series, it's that real vampires do not sparkle, they are not attracted to blatant Mary Sues, and they do not fight werewolves! I used to like Twilight, but then I found Cirque Du Freak and found out that it was miles better than this. I actually finished that series but with Twilight, I got bored and quit at around the third book when I noticed the bad writing.
|
Vampires don't sparkle. Also the books are terribly written fantasy fulfillment for teenage girls and Mormon housewives. I couldn't bring myself to be dragged to any of the movies.
Vampires were so much cooler when they were bloated sacks of blood or had really sweet detachable heads that flew around and bit people. I mean even Dracula had the decency not to sparkle, even if he started the whole sexy vampire thing. |
The book is better than the film. I guess my imagination is better than the film.
Yeah, the movie was overrated. It was given attention more than it deserve. Probably a huge teen fans are making this happen. Maybe the first installment was good but the succeeding were just fine. I just wished they would make the ending 2-part like Harry Potter. The story will be well illustrated if they'll do that. |
