Daily Chit-Chat -- Winter and/or Summer Edition

THE DAILY CHIT-CHAT

Winter and/or Summer Edition

Welcome back to the seasonal Daily Chit-Chat! The DCC's been extremely active this year and the annual thread was just getting downright massive. So we restart it every 3 months (It's seasonal) to see how it works out. This is the Winter and/or Summer edition, depending on your Hemisphere.

Now then, some things to keep in mind:
  • No spamming!
This is not a random thread of nonsense. Even though the topic can change wildly, do not blatantly post something completely off-topic, like talking about Math when the current topic is on the weather, or something to that effect. It's quite annoying, you'll get ignored, and I might eat you.
  • No leaving/welcome posts.
Do not come here just to say "Hi, I'm here now, blah blah, What are we talking about?" However, leaving posts are permissible, if you make a substantial post to add with it. Otherwise, it's just spam.
  • Do not ask about the topic.
This is spam. If you can't figure out what the topic is, read back a page. If the topic is winding down or already dead, feel free to change it to something new, but only if the old topic is clearly dead.
  • Respect everyone.
No name-calling, no flaming, no trolling, don't be offensive/condescending, and don't make the general atmosphere uncomfortable. Everyone, regardless of affiliation, is welcome to post in this thread. Repeat offenses in here will result in an infraction, no exceptions.

That being said, if you have any questions, feel free to PM myself, or any higher staff. Chat away!

Ho-Oh December 20th, 2010 9:15 PM

Oooh yay new DCC. Oh no Zapdos? :( It still deserves a mention!

countryemo December 20th, 2010 9:21 PM

Oh silly forever :(

Its not fall anymore (what? xD)

---
I never played Civilization? (Guess we have to continue on)
-

Im hoping I get a psp (3000)
But I heard stuff as
Memory sticks and disc, so on. Any clarity?

professor plum December 20th, 2010 9:21 PM

Zapdos is boring, okay?
He should've put the Summer/Winter form of Mebukijika there instead. '-'
But, yay, new DCC !

Woot first post.

But it has no seasonal affiliation. :/

It's my favorite of the birds though, nothing quite beats a thunder turkey.

Manly deer is the epitome of seasons.

Nick December 20th, 2010 9:28 PM

What the hell is a Mebukijika, Erik?

That bush on it's head looks ridiculous.

Ho-Oh December 20th, 2010 9:29 PM

YEAH. Mebukijika is better than leaving out poor Zapdos.

Plus Winter Mebujijika <3

professor plum December 20th, 2010 9:30 PM

I was trying to find artwork for it, and I couldn't. :(

Nick December 20th, 2010 9:30 PM

Nica, nobody needs your fangirling over B/W Pokémon. Shoo!

Go cook me up a Churine. I'm a vegetarian.

loliwin December 20th, 2010 9:32 PM

Ohoho!
That deer thing was pretty clever.

professor plum December 20th, 2010 9:33 PM

Do you have winter artwork as well?
Oh, gosh. Someone needs to make a theme that rotates as the seasons change. Or, four themes for each season. u_u

Nick December 20th, 2010 9:36 PM

That's a wonderful idea, Erik!

BEHOLD FROSTY DEER.

It's the dreamworld art.

I actually thought somebody would have already done that by now.

professor plum December 20th, 2010 9:38 PM

I mean, manly deer is so cool.
And..baby deer is cute too. ^-^

That's wayyyy toooo cold. Brrr. :s I'd die. I need lots of heat.

professor plum December 20th, 2010 9:46 PM

It's cold outside. I'm going to have to bundle up when I go to watch the lunar eclipse. Of course, I'm going to bring my laptop so I don't get bored. D:

Is the eclipse visible yet? Or, when is it supposed to happen?

Alternative December 20th, 2010 9:51 PM

What's the current topic?

Ahh Lunar Eclipse. I think Australia had one of them a couple of years back. I remember as I was at some bowling party.

professor plum December 20th, 2010 9:55 PM

It starts at like.. 1:34 eastern time, and then the total eclipse is like..at 1:41 am. I think. D:
idk idk.
It sucks that it's directly overhead. My neck's gonna hurt. ;-;

Alternative December 20th, 2010 9:59 PM

The moonlight sometimes baffles me sometimes. I think it was last night, I couldn't figure out if it was very dark afternoon, or night, as the moon was so bright.

This was also at like, 1am on an Australian Morning.

Livewire December 20th, 2010 10:07 PM

I couldn't view it anyways, it's snowing now. :/

It would still be pretty cool to see one. Maybe next year. :C

Meganium December 20th, 2010 10:08 PM

I don't think I'm gonna see the eclipse tonight... it's cloudy where I'm at. Grr. I hate it when that happens.. >_>

Alternative December 20th, 2010 10:09 PM

It snows in America? :o
I want some snow. Put some in a jar and ship it over to me.
Just wait until idk Venus lines up with Earth.

professor plum December 20th, 2010 10:16 PM

I'm waiting for the eclipse to start. XD

No, it supposed to peak at 2:30 3:00 ish Eastern Time.

donavannj December 20th, 2010 10:32 PM

It's cloudy here because we got a double dose of snow today, so no eclipse for me. :(

Kenshin5 December 20th, 2010 10:33 PM

Your not missing much, all I can see is Pure white at the moment.

Kura December 20th, 2010 10:35 PM

It's cloudy over here so I can't see no moonman :3

Cherrim December 20th, 2010 10:36 PM

Aww, it's cloudy out? :( I wasn't gonna step out to check quite yet (since I heard 3am or so is the ideal time?) but now I won't bother, haha.

T_T Still wanna stay up to see it. I hope it clears up in the next hour?

edit: oh nvm. :O I got unlazy and walked the 10 steps to the patio doors and stepped outside and I can see it! You can barely tell it's the start of an eclipse but if you're looking for it you can see it. :3

twistedpuppy December 20th, 2010 10:37 PM

It's pretty much cloudy all over the country. :(

Alice December 20th, 2010 10:41 PM

Clear skies for me here in Oregon. Looks like someone is nibbled on the edge of the moon. lol

Luck December 20th, 2010 10:44 PM

It's cloudy where I'm at. That's a shame, because I wanted to make Disgaea references with a red moon.

That's crazy! I live in Florida and I can't stand the cold. I think it's like 43 here,

Cherrim December 20th, 2010 10:55 PM

It's about 23F here right now. I think it was colder earlier when I was waiting outside in the cold for my dad to pick me up.

But I still haven't warmed up since stepping outside to look at the moon. XD;

Here in Minnesota, 25 F is nice and balmy this time of year. Granted, that kind of weather is usually acco mpanied by snowstorms, so its either snow or bitter cold. Right now where I am, it's 27 F, while it was 12 F at this time yesterday.

I went outside too, looked at the endless snow, (and lack of an Eclipse) then went back inside. XD

That is most definitely not what I am seeing right now. :( I want a red-tinted moon.

(Does it look like that when it's fully eclipsed? *has no clue lmao*)

Alice December 20th, 2010 11:27 PM

It's so foggy now, that once it disappears, it'll just look like nothing's there.

twistedpuppy December 20th, 2010 11:30 PM

Yea that's what it's supposed to look like at totality. I still don't fully understand why though. Something about earth's the shadow. :cer_confused: lol

I'm sitting outside on some towels. It's veryyyyy cold DX
It's worth it, though. XD

Cherrim December 20th, 2010 11:34 PM

Way too cold for me to be outside the whole time. xD;

But omg, I just looked and the moon definitely looks a bit red. That's crazy awesome.

(I... I think this may be the first eclipse I've been up for since I was like 6. D:)

twistedpuppy December 20th, 2010 11:37 PM

The next eclipse for the US won't be until Jan 21, 2019, so everyone should snap some pictures of it.

professor plum December 20th, 2010 11:40 PM

I canB barely see the moon at this point. It's like a sliver XD

I wore my robe outside so I wasn't really cold. I had a clear view outside my apartment.

twistedpuppy December 20th, 2010 11:56 PM

The moon's got a dark redish tint to it now. I'm going back out at 3:17 when it's going to be at it's fullest.

AshPikastar December 20th, 2010 11:57 PM

It looks pretty full where I am but I'll probably head out a bit later. My feet was the only thing that was getting cold.

Spherical Ice December 20th, 2010 11:58 PM

Haha, out of one window I saw the eclipse, and out of the other I saw Venus. The picture came out bad though for the former because the flats in front of our house was in the way and I my zoom isn't working for Venus. ;;

Jack O'Neill December 20th, 2010 11:59 PM

I should be pretty fortunate it stopped raining and the clouds managed to clear out this evening. I managed to get an awesome view of the eclipse. It was freezing outside, though.

Wow you too? I didn't know the atmosphere spread that far. I was asking Lightning cause she literally lives like maybe 5 minutes from me lol.. so I figured she might be seeing the same thing.. but it's really cool to know that you are seeing a similar thing to what I'm seeing, too :333

Ahh.. doesn't this just feel like such.. togetherness? It's nice!

Alice December 21st, 2010 12:03 AM

Go back in 17 minutes and it should be perfectly eclipsified.

インフェルノの津波 December 21st, 2010 12:04 AM

At least you don't live in Seattle. It's quite cold outside, and it could rain any minute.

Sorry blood-red moon, looks like I'll have to wait for you once again.

Alice December 21st, 2010 12:08 AM

-27C? Go inside. Seriously. That's just silly.

Then again, it got down to -70F (-56C) where I used to live in Alaska.

AshPikastar December 21st, 2010 12:11 AM

I don't know how cold it is in Florida. The only thing I know is, I could see my breath and I was still a bit cold even with my robe on.

professor plum December 21st, 2010 12:12 AM

It's only like 50 F here, but with windchill it's cold. But, I live in Texas, so that's cold for me.

Ho-Oh December 21st, 2010 12:14 AM

o_O

It's cold here when it's even like 5C. NOT EVEN NEGATIVES (Not now but in general).

Team Fail, you must be dying. D:

Alice December 21st, 2010 12:15 AM

I'd say it's between 20-40 F here. At that point you really can't tell the difference, but I'm pretty sure it couldn't be less than 20. lol

professor plum December 21st, 2010 12:15 AM

I also get cold very easily. XD; It's just the way I've always been 8D

Livewire December 21st, 2010 12:17 AM

God I can't imagine how cold Alaska would be. Not headed there anytime soon. :s
