Spherical Ice December 22nd, 2010 9:58 AM

But unwrapping them is the best. :D

Meganium December 22nd, 2010 10:02 AM

I was the only person in my family who wrapped gifts while my parents and my sister were all being lazy. I should get paid for this. And I have more coming. >_<

I can't wait to see their reactions to what I got for them, though. ^_^

Lol. I am always the person they ask to wrap the presents because I am good at it, apparently.
I don't mind doing it. The way I think of it is, my parents do a lot more work than just wrapping presents, so I might as well give them a hand if I am around the house, I am normally not doing anything anyway.

Livewire December 22nd, 2010 10:42 AM

Nobody (except my Grandma) really puts much effort into the wrapping process, because it's just going to be shredded soon. XD

Captain Fabio December 22nd, 2010 10:48 AM

I know it gets shredded, but it is nice to see them all neatly wrapped first and in the run up to the actual day.

Maraala December 22nd, 2010 10:54 AM

I take off the wrapping carefully if I like the design on it~

Funnily enough, I only rip envelopes carefully. About gift wrappings, though, I cut them down where they stand. I suppose this indicates that one is eager to get to the interior, and not observe the exterior of a gift. D:

Maraala December 22nd, 2010 11:03 AM

Actually I do everything carefully on Christmas. Why shred someone's work that they did?

Captain Fabio December 22nd, 2010 11:03 AM

I will rip the top of an envelope because it is easier and doesn't go everywhere, but with presents, I open them a little more careful so the paper doesn't go everywhere! XD

Because as I said, the shop assistants do it for me. And they get paid for it. And I enjoy ripping them apart :3

Thing about envelopes is, though, I tend to use them again, so that's why I'm careful.

Even still you should at least stop and admire the work that they did before you start shredding it.

I admire it these many days before Christmas, I think this is enough. ;D

Anyway, may I start a new topic? (enough about wraps and bundles, Erik will be disappoint)

How are weather predictions? Is it going to be a snowy Christmas at your place, a just cold one, or 'mosquito snap' aka Aussie version? =0

Meganium December 22nd, 2010 11:20 AM

Ooooh weather! My favorite topic!

It's gonna be rainy today. But by Christmas I'll be seeing some sunny skies. I wish a truckload of snow would come to my house and pour me some snow in my yard. :P

Cold Fusion December 22nd, 2010 11:20 AM

Christmas wrapping is awful, all I ever do is papercut myself and get sticky tape all over me. D=

Apparently this week we're supposed to have clear skies but it's supposed to be cold, although it just snowed a while back. The weather man sucks. Bad.

Sounds like you need protective gloves and a suit of armor to protect yourself when you are wrapping presents then (even though you hardly ever wrap them, but not the point)

You like the snow, what you complaining about?

Yes, I do, I do need that suit. You can pay for it though and if you do I shall become your knight in shining armor then. :D Okay with that?

Well, snow is good - awesomesly epic in fact. I'm saying mister weather man is bad, not the snow.

AshPikastar December 22nd, 2010 11:26 AM

Christmas wrapping is a lot if fun if you do it with your cousins or something. My cousins and I use to mess around with the wrapping paper all the time when we wrap presents.

I don't know the temperature today. Hopefully there'll be a nice cool breeze like yesterday.

Right, for one thing i would not waste my money on such things and two, i am not that big of a wimp to need a knight in shing armor and for the third thing, what the heck are you on about, your a girl so accept it already!!

Yet the snow attacks you nearly every year?

countryemo December 22nd, 2010 11:28 AM

I can stand wrapping (not o.o) I just cant seem to make it cover the whole box just right. >.>

Ooooo I want snow again, last time for the 3 days we had it, i didnt get to play it. :(

more off topic: I think I was having my 1st pokemon dream! then my little brother just had to wake me up <.<
I got my first pokemon, and I was signing in to join the pokemon league? No idea what town I was in

Captain Fabio December 22nd, 2010 11:30 AM

The weather is sunny but bitterly cold here. Currently, it is -9 degrees.

Fun times. XD

You would not waste money on me the ever so epic would-be-knight? Cruel girl. Very cruel. I don't think that being a not being wimp has anything to stop me from being one, you might have rabid stalkers coming after you and I would just simply show them the way to you (yes, a rebel knight I am) . Girls can be knights, it's just more commonly boys.

That's only the snowballs and they are fun, silly. SNOWBALL WAR. Besides, it's the ice that attacks more and it wins, I end up on the floor. D=

Thats what i said isnt it? Then you would fail as a knight. I guess you are right with that one actually.

You are a easy target, and i have to agree with you there, i have fell over everyday since the ice has come, damn clumisness.

Yes, and I'm saying it's cruel not to spend on the ever so lovely me. Hey, not everyone is good at these things! Besides, it'd make the knight world much more amusing.

Wait, wait, does that mean I'm on a dart board? WHO HATES ME THIS TIME? Eh, clumsiness is a part of it but grip on shoes is an additional factor.

I dont have money to spend or to waste, so stop complaining already.

Well you are on my dart board if that makes you feel better? Well i dont examine every pair of shoes i have before i wear them, so i just blame the clumsiness.

Just look up "K-On Grand Theft Auto" on YouTube; you'll find that and a whole bunch of other stuff, mainly involving Mio.

I only took one year of Japanese in high school, and I quickly forgot most of what little I knew. I'd like to relearn the language, but I have other things to worry about.

professor plum December 22nd, 2010 1:12 PM

I took Spanish in high school. It was probably one of my favorite subjects, simply because of the teacher. I was actually Spanish club president u_u;
And, like, I'm minoring in Spanish because I love it so much.
jajaja.

Livewire December 22nd, 2010 1:17 PM

I took French throughout high school, although my Senior year Mandarin Chinese was offered as an online course, or something. I would have liked to take it, but AP Government reared in its ugly head.

I hate language classes, because it's bad enough trying to learn Japanese by yourself...

I am a Spanish naitve speaker, and I'm willing to learn another language... like French or Italian. I'm learning Italian on my own, and hoping to sign up for French in college.

At least you had a competent teacher. I also took Spanish in high school, but I didn't really learn much; neither of my teachers were particularly good.

I've always questioned the utility of French compared to other foreign languages. At the very least, Spanish is far more useful.

Mandarin Chinese was also offered during my senior year, but it conflicted with AP Government and Economics. Small world, isn't it?

professor plum December 22nd, 2010 1:32 PM

I would much rather take a language class than try to learn something on my own. I mean, yeah, you can go at your own pace..but I know I'd just wind up procrastinating n_n;

At least you had a competent teacher. I also took Spanish in high school, but I didn't really learn much; neither of my teachers were particularly good.

My high school teacher actually used to work at a college. Basically, what happened was that she would have tons of students come in who weren't taught the basics of Spanish and just spent it doing tedious vocabulary/etc. So, I mean, she knows kind of what college is looking for. XD;

professor plum December 22nd, 2010 1:50 PM

I always thought it seemed like an interesting language. But, I love languages in general. I wish I had all the time in the world so I could learn many more languages. ;-;

I've always questioned the utility of French compared to other foreign languages. At the very least, Spanish is far more useful.

Mandarin Chinese was also offered during my senior year, but it conflicted with AP Government and Economics. Small world, isn't it?

Oh I think so too. French is more of a luxurious culture language, it isn't as practical as it used to be. Spanish/Mandarin/Japanese being offered as the primary language to study would make more sense.

AP Euro History and Environmental Science also contributed. Ugh.

That sucks. D: My roommates are okay. I mean, I always have some friends over, but they don't get too loud and so I never get complaints.
However, one of my roommates is such a slob. I can't even.
One night - around like midnight or something - he went to get some cereal, and he spilled it all over the floor..and didn't even clean it up.
The next day, I was like "WTF", and wound up sweeping it up.

It happened again, though, and I made him go get the vacuum cleaner from the main building and vacuum it all up. (Our broom wasn't there for some reason, idk)
He's such a slob @[email protected]; He doesn't really clean after himself.
Like, I have three roommates, and I share a bathroom and basically a half of the apartment, and our side is very clean.
The other side..well one of my roommates is relatively clean, but the other like..does nothing. 8|

And they don't even do dishes or take out laundry.

How did you even manage to take it?

Do you have to take French/learn it depending on the part of Canada you live in? oo;

I'm in Ontario and you have to take it up till the first year of Highschool ._. I'm not sure about other areas of Canada, though..

Well, in my old high school anyway.

At my school, you needed to take 3 years of a language to graduate, but I got out of that requirement by taking one horrific year of vocational school.

This place is kinda overwhelming to be perfectly honest. As much as I'd like to get into this, I feel stupid 'cause I don't understand most of what you guys / gals / adrogenes talk about with IV's, EV's and the like. Ah well, immersion at the deep end?
Mentioning Immersion, does anyone like Pendulum here?

Well, in my neck of the woods, it's completely optional to take FSL (French as a Second Language). You can begin in Grade 4, but you can start any time. In High School, I'm taking French 10-9 Y, which is the version that is the "non-beginner's" French class. There is also the beginner's French class, too. In Canada, most Government jobs require you to know French, but I'm taking it for the benefit of knowing another language.

L'examen DALF is a National level exam that has two parts, Oral and Written. You would normally have to pay hundreds of dollars, but since there are examiners within my city, I only had to pay fifty dollars. This payment is like a down payment, if you don't take the test, you don't get it back, but if you do take it, then, well... You get it back.

That's pretty neat :o
I wish we had that where I went to school. ;-;

Uhh. This is the Daily Chit Chat in Other Chat. We aren't even talking about Pokemon XD; Not all of the sections here are even about Pokemon :p
And, not everyone worries about IVs/EVs/etc. It's whatever the person wants to do.

It's called an Immersion program. You start your child learning French from kindergarten. This can apply with any language, make sure to look into it, there's usually long lines to sign kids up into it. I've been in a French Immersion program since kindergarten, and I'm glad to say I'm fully bilingual. : D

professor plum December 22nd, 2010 6:05 PM

That's really awesome. ): I'm really jealous. I want to be bilingual. ;_;

インフェルノの津波 December 22nd, 2010 6:08 PM

I've heard of that program before. Supposedly the younger you are, you learn things quicker.

AshPikastar December 22nd, 2010 6:17 PM

I'm learning Spanish but isn't liking it much at all. I really wanted to learn Japanese.

professor plum December 22nd, 2010 6:22 PM

Spanish really is easy to learn. It'd be the perfect thing to learn as you learn English grammar. They're both rather similar. lol.

AshPikastar December 22nd, 2010 6:25 PM

The main thing I remember in Spanish is how to tell time. I'm in Spanish 1 and this is my first time learning another language.

Ninja Caterpie December 22nd, 2010 6:33 PM

Learning Jap is probably done better early, when you have better language learning capabilities simply because it's harder to learn and it'd take much longer when you're older.

インフェルノの津波 December 22nd, 2010 6:37 PM

Try learning Latin.

It's aggravating.

Pfft you did better than me.

The teacher I had was a true jerk, he told me I was probably never going to accomplish anything in life because I forgot to turn in one assignment.

So I let him know who he was dealing with, long story short I'll probably never go to the program ever again :P

Again, that's crazy. I would probably get really mad, or cry, or something depending on the teacher. ):

I'm so ready for Christmas my birthday. n_n

Alice December 22nd, 2010 8:15 PM

Long lost twin? You might want to make sure just in case. o.O

lol

AshPikastar December 22nd, 2010 8:15 PM

Oh man I'm going to be 18 in three more months. I still don't have my permit yet but I'll probably do the test before it hits January which is almost here. Don't want to take that test. I think for people who have birthdays on Christmas has their presents combined with their Christmas gifts so I don't think it would be double the gifts.

Alice December 22nd, 2010 8:17 PM

You would think so, but I actually still got 2 presents for my birthday(today), even though my parents told me that I was only getting one thing on Christmas, since we have no money.

Meganium December 22nd, 2010 8:30 PM

I turn 21 next year. I wonder where I'll celebrate it at? *coughVegascough*

But my previous birthdays have been incredibly boring. All I do is sleep after a long week at school.

It's expensive to go to school out-of-state but you can apply for grants, scholarships, or if you have to student loans. If you feel you don't have the academics for it, go to a community college for a year and ace the crap out of it (I'm talking serious dedication, straight-A 4.0 GPA status) and then transfer to a university. People do it all of the time. :]

Anything is possible, seriously. Just stay dedicated.

Yeah, but if they're 40, they probably went to a pretty crappy school. I was a straight A student (well, almost), so I should be going somewhere pretty fancy imo. I had an almost free ride to OIT, which I probably should have done... but the more I thought about it, the more I felt like wasting 4 years of my life in a cold, little town like Klamath Falls was a really bad idea.

alisaie December 22nd, 2010 8:44 PM

Eh? I'm pretty sure there were good high schools back in the past. :/ I mean, when I look at the textbooks my dad had to use in the past, they looked more difficult, since they don't have as many images as they do these days.

I actually know someone that was pretty much straight 'A', and he's currently at the Community College I'm going too. Though it's probably to finish his two years he started while he was in High School. Cheaper that way. (b'')b

Guy December 22nd, 2010 8:58 PM

That's something like what I plan on doing Fall next year. I want to get my AA degree from my community college after the first two years, and then transfer to the university of my choice to finish up my education. I managed to keep straight 'A's throughout high school, but because of cost, I find starting off at a community college to be a lot more affordable and helps saves a lot of money.

alisaie December 22nd, 2010 9:00 PM

My Freshman Composition teacher was actually a teacher that worked at the university just about thirty minutes away. She didn't bother trying to teach us any other way, so she pretty much did the same thing she did with her University class. So pretty much, what I learned in that class was what university students were learning, for a fraction of the price. (b'')b

donavannj December 22nd, 2010 9:01 PM

Most people I know went to 4 year schools in the area, but I opted for a 2 year technical college for monetary reasons. I could not have afforded to go to any of the schools that sent me mailings, as I forgot to apply for any scholarships.

I was going to graduate in May, but I opted to stay in school at the technical college I'm attending until next December because I'm working quite a bit and this last semester burned me out with a full-course load, and I couldn't get into one of the classes I wanted to get into for this Spring anyways.

インフェルノの津波 December 22nd, 2010 9:04 PM

Unless I'm missing something..

I'm trying to get back into school but they're giving me a hard time about a variety of stuff.

Guy December 22nd, 2010 9:11 PM

I have this huge urge to get back into school. Taking a year off after graduating was great the first few months, but then you just miss it after awhile. ):

Does give me a lot of time to prep myself though.

luke December 22nd, 2010 9:16 PM

I took time off because I was such a "overachiever" student in high school I was burned out from learning when I went to college. Most expensive mistake of my life lol

Guy December 22nd, 2010 9:20 PM

My biggest mistake was letting procrastination get the better of me by taking my SAT's late and slacking on applying to the colleges of my choice. That and choosing to finish my last two years of high school online. I wish I didn't do that one. XD Otherwise, I'd probably be in college right now...er, at least I would be returning to it after break anyway.

I've been out of school since June, and have done absolutely nothing with my life in the meantime, and I honestly can't say that I miss it. I miss having money to do fun stuff, and all my friends went away to college... and I wish I could go somewhere more exciting... but I... Crap, now I'm thinking about how boring this really is...
