Oh, I have no doubt that they will be better than RSE/DPPt. But not RBY. But you may be right. The mysterious quality from RBY might just be nostalgia from early childhood. :P

donavannj January 19th, 2011 9:24 PM

The appeal of RBY now is largely nostalgia. In the past it was probably the novelty and fun factor the games had going for them.

Ninja Caterpie January 19th, 2011 10:31 PM

I don't. RBY is really dull and lame to me.

I must've missed something. Was it the glitches? The beepyboopy nostalgia music? Or the all-round terrible-but-i-loved-it-anywayness?

moon January 19th, 2011 10:53 PM

/makes post belonging in the Name Thread xD

The names in RBY really weren't better than later generations.

Mankey? Well that's clever ._. And Paras? Way to cut off a word and tadaa a name.
Ponyta? what's the "yta"?
Golem? eh. That's a word. It's as boring as the japanese "Thunder" and those.

And there were some name I really laughed at, I can't remember which atm.

In 5th gen, we have Braviary (good one), Samurott (has the right feeling for the pokémon), Boldore, Gigalith, Hydreigon, Servine and many other good names.

Though some 5th gen names are so weird... simply misspellings of real words, seemingly. I mean, Timburr? And the final evo's name sounds more like Hurr-durr to me.

But then, we did have Drowzee in the 1st gen ^^ only, that one have grown on us. Maybe Girdurr and Hurrdurr (I'll forever be calling him that) will too.

Ah, at least they don't all have a name obviously referring to what they are and ending with "-mon". I do love Digimon, but eh.

It's not just the "veterans" who recognize the futility of complaining about English Pokémon names.

By the way, not all Digimon had obvious names.

インフェルノの津波 January 19th, 2011 10:57 PM

...Damn you Nintendo. Damn you to hell for making Pokemon Black and White and the 3DS come out in the same month, I don't have $300 to be wasting!

Oh well, I'll figure it out...

Digimon names are questionable.

Captain Fabio January 20th, 2011 12:59 AM

You would have thought they would have made Black & White for the 3DS as well, as in a 3D version. That would have been a nice push on wanting to buy the console then.

Jabberwocky January 20th, 2011 7:20 AM

I'm not shilling $250 for a DS with a horrible battery life just for some 3D effects that I'd turn off anyway. So sorry, Nintendo. Not even Professor Layton will convince me to buy the 3DS until that price point comes down.

(on a side note, I've decided to hang out on this forum more often)

Morgnarok January 20th, 2011 7:58 AM

I think the 3Ds price will not go down thou intill christmas of this year or later. As for playing pokemon black and white aren't they only for the Ds and then theres a Dsi enhanced version.I think they would have to come out with a 3DS enhanced version.

Captain Fabio January 20th, 2011 8:38 AM

It will go down before Christmas. Maybe not right away, but a few months after.

Morgnarok January 20th, 2011 8:43 AM

It won't go down that much thou maybe to 215 but i don't see it being no less then 200 because the Dsixl is 179 without all the crap the 3DS has.

Sweet Candace January 20th, 2011 10:29 AM

The 3DS won't go down in price until the Christmas season and a little past that. The 3DS will be out for about 3/4's of a year, so maybe the price will be lower in December.

Sushi. January 20th, 2011 10:30 AM

I have no interest for the 3DS at all. Too expensive to start out with for a handheld.

I'm just sticking with my PSP 3000.

Morgnarok January 20th, 2011 10:34 AM

Only reason i want the 3Ds is because it is a much needed upgraded compared to the Nintendo Dsi.Mainly thou because it will support internet flash. So you can finally use youtube and other sites with it.

Captain Fabio January 20th, 2011 10:39 AM

I might get one since I can trade in my old DS and I have some games I want to get rid off. So I could just end up paying around £100 for it! XD

Morgnarok January 20th, 2011 10:46 AM

Well when it does come out ill prob sell my dsi and a few old games too and end up only paying 100 or so too lol

Captain Fabio January 20th, 2011 11:05 AM

On second thought, I ain't buying a 3DS at all. The games are £39.99 which is the same price as a PS3 or 360 game.

I am not paying that much for a handheld game, regardless of 3D content.

Morgnarok January 20th, 2011 11:09 AM

You pay 34.99 as it is thou for pokemon games. So a few dollars difference is not that big of a deal i would think.

Captain Fabio January 20th, 2011 11:12 AM

Yes, but on a cheaper console.
Also, there is no real need for them to be that expensive. I would rather not spend an extra £5 - £10 to buy a handheld game.

Also, the store I go has a pre-order price of Pokemon Black & White at £29.99.

Morgnarok January 20th, 2011 11:21 AM

Wish it was that cheap here when it comes out lol

I just finished a massive Social exam. I had 60 multiple choice questions and an essay/position paper to write. It took me an hour to do the questions and 30 minutes to do the essay. Not bad, IMO.

Well done on finishing the exam.
Hope it went well for you.

I did an multipal choice exam in my first year of University. Was a 3 hour exam, I finished in 14 minutes after looking over everything 3 times and got 82%. I am not even joking. The last person to finish took 30 minutes! XD

That was the only easy exam I had!

professor plum January 20th, 2011 12:08 PM

I haven't taken any exams yet..but today is like my second day of classes for the most part. :<
And..I'll probably sell back my DSi, and maybe a game or two. ;-;
I have a Japanese DSi, too. I wonder if they'd accept that o3o;

Depends on the store, but most stores like GAME in the UK won't accept non-UK consoles. A bit annoying but all but my PSP are English.

donavannj January 20th, 2011 12:15 PM

@noblebeastx: Do the conversion math. £29.99 is about $47 (American). That's just $13 less than an Xbox 360 or PS3 game new, and $3 less than a new Wii game. That's expensive.

professor plum January 20th, 2011 12:18 PM

Not necessarily. Capcom has put Super Street Fighter IV as $39.99 on their site. So..yeah. I think Prices will be around that. ):
