Project: Communitydex

For now, let's work on the concepts we already have, instead of giving more and more ideas. I think we should get at least 1/3 of the concepts we have now sprited before we add more ideas. Thanks!
http://i52.*.com/vdz7g9.png
Hello, and welcome to Project: Communitydex! I'm sure many of you are aware that the Pixel Art section is really inactive. Hopefully, this community project will help reboot the activity here. As hinted in the name, the Communitydex is a project in which you, the members of PokéCommunity, come together, and give ideas, and eventually create, various fake Pokémon sprites to make a fake Pokédex, consisting of work by us, for us.

Don't be worried if you don't think your skills are up to scratch, if you have a concept for a Pokémon you would like to bring forward, then please do so! Hopefully then, one of the more skilled pixellers will take up your ideas and work on it.

No ideas are "stupid" (well, within reason, at least), but if some seem impractical or too similar to pre-existing Pokémon, for example, then please feel free to contribute to the ideas given. Others will be allowed to tweak sprites made by members, but please make sure you try to stick to the original design as much as possible.

We aren't going to follow any 'rules,' per se, however if you feel we need to keep the tradition of, for example, a 3-stage bug evolutionary line, then feel free to contribute. However, it would be logical to stick to having starter Pokémon and region legendaries, though I'm not totally sure about the latter idea, anyway.

I suppose this is enough for the introduction, onto the Pokédex so far...

The Pokédex:

It has a blue marking on each of it's four stout, stubby little legs. It has a jagged razor blade as a tail, but one side of it is stuck to it's rear/back part of it's body, leaving just the blade sticking out, giving Blaydyte the inability to swish it's tail. Blaydyte has a small blunt horn on it's forehead, used for shaving off treebark, it's staple diet. Blaydyte then sits on the treebark to cut it into bite-sized pieces. All of Blaydyte's attacks are attack based, and are carried out with its bladetail, so it looks really wierd, as the opponent sees the rear end of the pokemon flying at them. It's horn is unsuitable for combat. One thing is sure: You don't want this pokemon sitting on you.

Yes, feedback is deinitely encouraged.

Your submissions have been added to the first post!

~Wind~ December 29th, 2010 10:27 AM

Hmmm...
Just to get this started, how about:
Name: Jp: 球ドル Tamadoru En: Chanpuff
Type/s: Um... Probably part normal, maybe water too?
Pokédex entry:
Jp:
球ドル、それは女性で、特に非常に大規模なファンベースを持っていますからサンプルにヌードルバーを探して、町を歩きまわる。
Tamadoru walks around towns, looking for noodle bars to sample from, It has a very large fan base, especially with females.
En:
Chanpuff's favourite food is noodles, it will often scour towns for new noodle bars to try.
It has an extremely large fanbase, mostly females, due to it's cuteness.
Abilities: Guts, Cuteness (foe is infatuated for the first turn). Dream world: Super Luck

Tamadoru means sphere [noo]dle
I imagine it as a kind of sphere with arms and legs, that's cute and holds a bowl of noodles.
I suspect it would learn boiling water at some point :p.

EDIT:
I made a semi good chanpuff sprite, needs improvement *hint*
http://i51.*.com/29cw7zq.png

Spherical Ice December 29th, 2010 10:57 AM

I've added the description to the first post, but I think the design as it is for now is slightly plain. Perhaps we could make the bowl part of it's body? Perhaps it rests on it's head? Also, I think pink is a slightly overdone colour for puffballs (Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Ditto [to an extent]). Perhaps red? Also, I think a pattern of some sort would be nice. Maybe blue spots or something?

dragonite149 December 29th, 2010 11:54 AM

I rox sux at scratching, so don't expect many sprites to come from me. However, expect lots of awesome ideas from me.

What about a season-changing pokemon based on an snake? Forms for the sprites coming soon.

Spring form: It would be mostly green, with a pink bud on its tail. It would have pink spots on its body. This form would be Grass Type.

Summer form: It would be mostly yellow, with a red sunflower-like flowerhead on its tail. It would have red spots on its body. This form would be Fire Type.

Autumn form: It would be mostly brown, with a brown autumn leaf on its tail. It would have dull yellow spots on its body. This form would be Ground Type.

Winter form: It would be mostly white, with a snowball on its tail. It would have black spots on its body. This form would be Ice Type.

And the name could be Snakeason? /failname

~Wind~ December 29th, 2010 11:56 AM

hmmm...
Good ideas, i'll improve it a bit.
maybe it could have Tama(sphere) Written on it?

msfan645 December 29th, 2010 12:13 PM

Does it have to be a certain size?
example: 64x64

Spherical Ice December 29th, 2010 12:35 PM

I think we should stick to the most recent standards, at 96x96, but you can do whatever really.

~Wind~ December 29th, 2010 1:21 PM

Oops, mine are 80x80.
Anyway, I made a few edits, and there are now four versions,
Pick which one you like.
http://i51.*.com/kcjjav.png
The mark on its chest is Tama () meaning sphere, and is the first part of it's jp name.
It does need editing/respriting by a better spriter though.
It's shiny would be pink with a green bowl, and if it had a B/W animation, it would simply bob, and occasionally either pick up and/or drink from it's bowl.

Chesu December 29th, 2010 2:13 PM

Well, I guess I could submit some of my ideas to the project... Unfortunately, my imagination is faster than my spriting, and I'm never satisfied with what I make, so ideas keep piling up. Do you mind if I don't use the preset form? For a lot of them, all I have are basic ideas; as it's a community project, whoever picks them up can decide the PokeDex entry and such. For some of them, I have quickly-doodled concept art or half-finished sprites.

You just had to make a Magikarp of the region, didn't you, Chesu?

My ideas again.
~~Snakeason~~
Type: Depends on the season.
Abilities: Intimidate/ Arena Trap
Dream World: Not found in Dream World.
Snakeason changes types when the seasons change. It is a hostile Pokemon, and it lives in rainforests.

Appearance
Spring form: It would be mostly green, with a pink bud on its tail. It would have pink spots on its body. This form would be Grass Type.

Summer form: It would be mostly yellow, with a red sunflower-like flowerhead on its tail. It would have red spots on its body. This form would be Fire Type.

Autumn form: It would be mostly brown, with a brown autumn leaf on its tail. It would have dull yellow spots on its body. This form would be Ground Type.

Winter form: It would be mostly white, with a snowball on its tail. It would have black spots on its body. This form would be Ice Type.

I call it Kolibloom (from kolibri which means hummingbird in several languages), though I admit it's rather large looking for such a small variety of bird. I suppose it could be the evolved form. And I'm not quite sure how it could be a fossil (since fossils are always part rock) so I didn't try to incorporate that aspect. Anyway, if anyone's got ideas for ways to improve it they'd be welcome.

Do you mind if I don't use the preset form? For a lot of them, all I have are basic ideas; as it's a community project, whoever picks them up can decide the PokeDex entry and such. For some of them, I have quickly-doodled concept art or half-finished sprites.

All added! :3

I tried to redo it slightly:

Neat! :D

Yeah, it is kind of big, so it would be best as an evolution. Regarding fossils being rock-type, well, not only hard-bodied creatures are fossilized. All of the fossil Pokemon we've seen so far are Rock-type, so either they're all originally that type (in which case we're overdue for a deviation) or the reanimation process is imperfect, leaving rock aspects of their fossilized forms intact... in which case we need better technology. In either case, I think it's about time for some non-Rock fossil Pokemon. :D

Wow, great rendition of Waspain, tnguy! I've added it to the first post!

Anyway, I've an idea for an electric yeti crab. For those who don't know a yeti crab looks like this:
http://oceanservice.noaa.gov/education/yos/multimedia/weirdfins/yeti_crab240.jpg

The idea is that the fur is electrically charged.

Nimblethumbs December 30th, 2010 2:24 PM

Since my spriting is not to great, here is an idea:

http://weirdseamonsters.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/sea-cucumber.jpg

Ok, so basically, all of it's moves charge up in it's belly. Oh, and, it has no eyes, it has a sensor in it's stomach ;).

Yo Spherical Ice, heres the yeti crab. I gave it blue electricity instead of yellow, because you can't see yellow on yellow. I'll change it if you wan't me to....

~Wind~ December 30th, 2010 2:48 PM

Looks cool.
But, Yeti crab?
Couldn't that maybe be Ice type?
Anyways, I have two ideas, not very fleshed out though.

Name: ???
Description: A kind of suit of armour, made of Ice, in a humanoid shape, carrying a sword.
The armor looks a tiny bit like the top plates on daikenki's armour.

Name: ???
Description: A horse with a suit of armour on it, the armor is grown as a defensive mechanism, to convince people that it has a trainer.
The armour is made of grey melanin.

What do you think?

It's great, though I meant that their is still fur, though it has electricity springing out of it. Could you upload it via tinypic or Photobucket? I'm not a fan of attatchments :/

Hm, mind expanding on the actual idea of the Pokémon. So far it's just a sea cucumber :/

Kolibloom and Waspain look great! Are the new style Pokemon sprites all that big?

Now we just need Pupant and... Uh, Kolibud, I guess. Maybe I can find a little free time and contribute something myself. Or just be lazy and post ideas for the more talented people to work with.

Speaking of laziness, here's a list of plants and animals yet to be made into Pokemon I made back in 2006. Feel free to base ideas on them.

Spoiler:

Goat
Pistol Shrimp
Chicken (leghorn, silkie)
Flamingo
Platypus
Porcupine
Hermit Crab
Opossum
Marlin
Capybara
Ant
Anteater

Koala
Bombardier Beetle
Parrotfish
Meercat
Zebra

Cheetah
Polar bear
Mammoth
Saber-toothed cat
Plankton
Mule
Donkey
Toucan
Dolphin
Narwhal

Aloe/Agave/Yucca
Lichen
Snap Dragon
Box Elder Seed
Carrot - TOP PRIORITY

...and a few ideas, chosen at random from my collection. They're coincidentally mostly Water-types.

Name: Cosmite
Type: Rock
Description: A comet-like baby form of Lunatone and Solrock.

Name: Squiddle
Type: Water
Description: A tiny squid with stubby appendages.

Name: Squidink

Name: Chompaw
Type: Water
Description: A cheeky, colorful parrotfish.

Name: Crunchaw
Type: Water/Rock
Description: A parrotfish with a huge jaw/beak and rocky protrusions.

Name: Undecided
Type: Water
Description: A four-legged tadpole.

Name: Undecided
Type: Ground/Ghost
Description: A dusty frilled lizard that didn't get enough water as a tadpole.

Logiedan December 30th, 2010 3:44 PM

I assume it's called yeti crab because of the extensive fur.
http://www.pokecommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=58324&stc=1&d=1293748962
You could've added the fur like the picture, it was mostly the key point of the whole concept.

Also, more indepth on Wimpike, I think it should be the magikarp or feebas of this dex.. Like it's pathetic now, it evolves, big bang, look, now it PWNs everyone. I dunno, maybe it should evolve into a giant maniacal fish. I'll get onto that ;).

Wahey, lookit all them unfinished sprites! I have MS Paint doodles of those last four. Circa 2001. You don't want to see them. Also, I intended for anyone who did something with one of my concepts to write the Pokedex entry. Should I supply them for Kolibloom, Waspain and Kilnary, or...?

edit: To counter the torrent of old animal-based ideas I've rained upon the project, here are some new inanimate object-based ideas! Which is to say, here are some more ideas, which must be annoying by now.

Type: Dark
Description: A karakasa, Pokemon-style.

Name: Undecided
Type: Psychic

Name: Undecided
Type: Psychic
Description: The outermost of the set, which can break the normal matryoshka shape since it doesn't have to fit inside anything. Maybe the middle one has horns that stick out through holes in this one or something.

~Wind~ December 31st, 2010 12:04 AM

So, since both fossil pokes are part grass type, I though of something,
the fossil is not rock, but petrified wood.
Sound good?

Chesu December 31st, 2010 12:52 AM

You mean that the Pokemon themselves become petrified wood? That's an interesting idea... I went with the "hummingbird as a fossil" idea because you always hear about large insects and small lizards getting caught in amber, but never birds. Bird FEATHERS, sure, but never whole birds. So, I decided that to make it work, it'd have to be the tiniest of birds! :D

Petrified wood is an intriguing concept, though... What's the other Grass-type fossil you're referring to? Also, I've suggested too many bugs already, but has there been a mosquito Pokemon yet?

~Wind~ December 31st, 2010 1:39 AM

I meant the grass T-rex that has a head-dress for some reason...
But then I realised that was 3 stage.
So we can eith get rid of a stage, or make another fossil pokemon.
I like the idea of a giant grass/bug mosquito...

Type: Normal/Flying
Description: A small, cowardly pale blue bird with angular features and pink markings.

Name: Kouren
Type: Normal/Flying
Description: A courageous brown bird with long blue-tipped tail feathers and long pink-tipped head feathers.

Name: Toxen
Type: Normal/Poison
Description: A poisonous ox. Don't ask, this was ten years ago, I was a weird kid.

Name: Poxen
Type: Steel/Poison
Description: An even more poisnous ox?

Wahey, lookit all them unfinished sprites! I have MS Paint doodles of those last four. Circa 2001. You don't want to see them. Also, I intended for anyone who did something with one of my concepts to write the Pokedex entry. Should I supply them for Kolibloom, Waspain and Kilnary, or...?

edit: To counter the torrent of old animal-based ideas I've rained upon the project, here are some new inanimate object-based ideas! Which is to say, here are some more ideas, which must be annoying by now.

Spoiler:

Name: Umbra (I think it's a clever name, anyway)
Type: Dark
Description: A karakasa, Pokemon-style.

Name: Undecided
Type: Psychic
Description: The innermost of a set of Matryoshkas, resembling an egg or a small animal. Or maybe just a normal doll. In any case, it has to adhere to a shape that can fit within the others.

Name: Undecided
Type: Psychic
Description: The middle of the set, big enough to encapsulate the innermost, small enough to fit inside the outermost.

Name: Undecided
Type: Psychic
Description: The outermost of the set, which can break the normal matryoshka shape since it doesn't have to fit inside anything. Maybe the middle one has horns that stick out through holes in this one or something.

IDEA OVERLOAD!

I'll take on the challenge of a platypus fakemon. And I have some plans already...

Some clues: It's a blue egg laying mammal of action.

I'm not going to add it yet seeing as you've not really provided a proper concept yet.

Anyway, I've arranged all of the sprites/ideas into spoilers corresponding to the user who submitted them. If, however, it was a joint effort, then it will, funnily enough, go in the Joint Efforts spoiler n_n.

So, what happened to wimpike??

So heres wimpike's evo...

Name: Swampike
Type/s: Water
Pokédex Entry: It is the second largest pokemon, 2 inches behind wailord. It has a short temper. Scientists are unsure how wimpike evolves into this monster.
Ability/ies: Torrent/intimidate

~Wind~ December 31st, 2010 11:37 AM

Um... I think wimpike already had an evolution :/
Anyways, Fisnished chanpuff stuf:

Normal:
http://i55.*.com/2946rly.png http://i56.*.com/j0a4cl.png
Shiny:
http://i53.*.com/2extpv6.png http://i52.*.com/2vtnlmd.png

I decided it is Normal/water type.
And it is the noodle pokemon.
I also made this:
http://i52.*.com/6f0fw6.png

@SphericalIce:
I liked your sprite so much I couldn't throw it away, so I decided to give Chanpuff a prevo.
Unamed, the soup Pokemon.
What do you think?

Also on a final note, is the T-Rex a fossil poke or not?
If not, I think the other should be a grass/bug Dragonfly/Mosquito.
Both fossils could be wings :p

Spherical Ice December 31st, 2010 11:47 AM

Okay, ~Wind~, I'm going to be honest, your sprite is not too good, I'm afraid. It's far too large and lacks any kind of design. It's just a huge, blue circle. Even sprites with more detail, such as Jigglypuff, Cleffa and even Clefable are smaller...MUCH smaller than your sprite. The bowl is too small to be an obvious feature of the design and using a text tool in pixel art is not good at all. It may seem egotistic, but I think my sprite is better, only because it is more compacted, however it still is very plain, and this fakemon NEEDS some sort of design. Right now it is, frankly, a blue ball with a red bowl on it's head :/ Maybe some kind of pattern, perhaps a wavy yellow pattern around the face, representing noodles or something? Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not insulting you and not trying to be mean, but I'm afraid your sprite needs a bit of work n_n'

dinosaurodon December 31st, 2010 11:53 AM

OK I'll take the Cheetah.
Checub (cheetah + cub) make a better name if you want to
electric type
Description: Cheetah cub that is yellow and has black spots all around its body, has one stripe running across it's side that looks like lightning.
ability: volt absorb
Chetair (cheetah + tear)
electric type
Description: full grown cheetah that has multiple black spots and a couple of stripes that look like lighting.
ability: volt absorb

Oh and no, the T.Rex is not the fossil, let's make it the pseudo-legendary :3

~Wind~ December 31st, 2010 11:54 AM

ok.
It is supposed to be biggish though.
About the size of a charmander.
Or charmeleon.
The thing about the plain design is that it is part normal type, and normals are generically plain.
I will keep editing it though.
(Do you like the cry I made? It's a few posts back.)

I like this concept, but I don't quite like what I was able to do with it.

http://i51.*.com/2qbg4zm.png

I wanted to make some fang-like beak and coat tails for the back feathers. But I just can't seem to get past this point so I'm going to release it to the commons and to whomever wants to try to improve it.

Spherical Ice December 31st, 2010 12:53 PM

You've done a nice job so far, Scarf.

You see the coat he's wearing, and how it goes up to his ears? Do you think it'd look good on Flamincula? (Btw feel free to change the name)

dinosaurodon December 31st, 2010 1:08 PM

I don't think Swampike should be 2 inches less than Wailord, I think it should be as big as Gyarados and Milotic ( i mean it IS the regions gyarados xD)

So, it may need some work on the fins. Feel free to tweak.

Also, more indepth on Wimpike, I think it should be the magikarp or feebas of this dex.. Like it's pathetic now, it evolves, big bang, look, now it PWNs everyone. I dunno, maybe it should evolve into a giant maniacal fish. I'll get onto that ;).

I'll add Wimpike's sprite to the first post, though I think it's a tad small, especially in comparison to the rest of the sprites. Opinions?

Swampike has also been added.

Thanks!

Well, Wimpike is small because it's intended to be wimpy. Like totally hopeless. Of course, this is IMO, and the sprite can be edited.

Spherical Ice December 31st, 2010 1:26 PM

Even so, I think it should be larger. We have 96x96! I think if it's around Magikarp's size, though not as tall.

OK, I got the Cheetah done, and I edited the Yeti Crab. I didn't know how to make the fur, but I did my best. Feel free to edit it .

Yeah, the cheetah looks awesome. I cant wait for the evo. For the fur, maybe you should attempt a tanner, but still yellow color, and include more jagged and rough shading.., Sorta like dithering, but dithering in shapes... Gah I dunno how to explain it.

And SI, I dont see how to make Wimpike bigger, as pikes are meant to be narrow, and I think that making wimpike bigger would de-pike and de-wimp it. But agin this is IMO, and other people can do what they can to make it better, because I'm no the best of spriters :).

Spherical Ice December 31st, 2010 2:04 PM

No, not the actual Pokémon, just "zoom" the sprite so we can see more of it. Proportionately resize it to around Magikarp size is what I meant (no, I don't mean select and resize).

http://i55.*.com/2i7pu6q.png
I think this is as close to a yeti crab as we're going to get. Personally, I like it, and, even though yeti crabs don't have tails, I think this tail emphasises the electric type. Do you guys think this guy's ready for the final ideas section?

Also, I think he's too small - do you think he warrants an evolution?

I love this one. And yes, yetolt does deserve an evolution, i've even made a concept:

Name: Wattacrab
Type: Electric
Abilities: Early Bird
Pokedex: A large yeticrab that can stand on it's legs; it's humanoid. It has a tough shell on it's back, giving it the resemblance of a giant beetle. It's pincers are so sharp, they can dent steel and release 500 watts of electricity. It's electricity is stored in it's fur. It looks like it's prevo, yetolt, except it's black tail is now thicker. It's name is a play on words: Wattacrab and What a crab.

And i'll get on to the new wimpike.

What? You can make alternate evolutions if you want, but it seems kind of rude to just hijack the concept and make it whatever you want. Wimpike is my idea of a Magikarp-esque line, evolving into Tiamoor, a water serpent. It's halfway between Gyarados and Milotic; not an enraged beast, not a serene beauty queen, but somewhere in the middle.

I do like the idea of a monstrous, gargantuan fish, though. You should take the idea and make something original with it.... Maybe an eel, or some prehistoric mega-fish?

Spherical Ice December 31st, 2010 2:14 PM

New version of Yetolt, as the arms seemed to blend into the body slightly.

I'm not so sure about the name of Wattacrab, but I've added the description to the first post.

Perhaps Yetrocute (yeti + electrocute)?

e: Ninja'd by Chesu. To be fair, you didn't state that Tiamoor was the evolution. I'll wait for Nimble's response, though.

Oh, Im sorry, I didn't know that wimpike evolved into Tiamoor. It never said in it's description... So that's what ~Wind~ was talking about. Im sorry. So, Chesu maybe you and I can make it so that when wimpike's beauty condition and attack stat are high, it evolves into Tiamoor, and when it's strength condition (Is that a condition) and defense stat are high, it evolves into swampike. What do you say? Spherical Ice, if Chesu accepts, can you update that? And, yes, I'm fine with yetrocute, I also thought that wattacrab was kinda wierd. Are we keeping wattacrab's description though?

Spherical Ice December 31st, 2010 2:23 PM

Chesu said it's not a serene beauty queen.

Perhaps if defense is high, it evolves into Swampike, and if attack is high it evolves into Tiamoor at, say, Level 36? I think that's a good idea (sort of expanding on your idea, Nimble)?

Yeah, that would work. Does chesu accept *Waits for boss carrot*.

Chesu December 31st, 2010 2:35 PM

Sorry, playing a game right now. That's fine, but does evolution method really matter? This is a community project, not for a game.... If anyone uses the fakemon in a game, they'll probably use their own evolution rules.

Nimblethumbs December 31st, 2010 2:42 PM

Ah, this is just for fun. If you don't want it, we can break it seperate. Probably means I need a new name for swampike.

Just b31ng Cr3aT1v3.

Spherical Ice December 31st, 2010 2:46 PM

I've just added that they are both evolutions of Wimpike. Okay?

Aww... I had a cool idea. I guess we'll expand on our current ideas, then put forth more fakemon.

blackmoonflower December 31st, 2010 3:26 PM

I have an idea for a Normal/Electric family, with a yellow/orange/black color scheme.

1st stage: Hamstatic, the Hamster Pokemon. Basically looks like a Hamtaro type hamster that stands on its hind legs with electric pouches on its cheeks and teeth sticking out, kind of like a rabbit.

2nd stage: Chincharge, the Chinchilla Pokemon. Sort of like Raichu in appearance, standing on hind legs, larger electric pouches and teeth, lighting bolt-type shapes coming off the tips of the large ears, with a long tail that has a tuft of fur on the end.

I came up with this for my hack I have under wraps, but I've suddenly become too busy to sprite and these are not dimensions I'm familiar with. ^_^;

It'd be cool if one of the better spriters could take a crack at it.

Seems very pikachu family-like. I dunno, but the color scheme seems wierd o.0.

Well, Ice, it can't hurt for one more eh?

Name: Blaydyte
Bladetail pokemon
Abilities: Guts
Type: Steel
Pokedex: It is a small yellow creature with no distinguishable head. It's skin is so tough only a diamond cutter can penetrate it. Blaydyte has a blue line running all the way down it's back, forming into an arrow between it's eyes (If you ever watched Avatar: The last airbender when you were little, it looks like aang's arrow).

^I'm creating a sprite for it. I'll tell you if I give up.

OK, so, more info on the platypus Pokemon!
Lineart: http://www.pokecommunity.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=58369&stc=1&d=1293893981
Name: Perripus
Species: Secret Agent Pokemon.
Type/s: Water/Fighting
Pokédex Entry: Perripus is a secret agent, but he likes to laze around in ponds in his spare time. He seems to like wearing brown fedoras.
Ability/ies: Quick Feet/Intimidate
Gender Ratio: 100% male, 0% female.

Yes, it is a WIP, but I want to be the one to finish it so I can display it in my wonderful gallery of cool sprites Failmon instead of my suckish pillowshade flower whose name I am not going to mention. So, no touchy~

Also, the colours are there to remind me what part is what.

What do you mean by 'straighten out the body'? If you tell me, I'll do it myself. (Sorry, I don't want to do a collab with anyone. So I can display it in my thread.)

Um... so... yeah.
I like the one without noodles best, after all, it is part normal type, and jigglypuff (which everyone seems to be likening it to) only has its tuft of hair.

We were referring to Jigglypuff because of the size and shape, not the detail. According to you then, it's a blue Jigglypuff witha bowl of water. Notice how the water is just water. Without the noodle design there is NOTHING to say it's the noodle Pokémon >>

Has anyone seen my contribution yet? Well, Nimble has, but no-one else has notcied it.

His body and face look unnatural. Make the lines straighter.

New idea brought to this page...

There's too many hightlights in my opinion. It makes it look more glossy and shiny. ):

Well, since Chesu mentioned a bombardier beetle, and I already had a concept hidden away somewhere, I decided to give it a shot.

Bombacid, the Acid Beetle Pokemon.

I couldn't decide on a color. And it may have come out a little big... >.>
Feel free to make edits if need be.

I'm a little confused on why Chanpuff has a "shiny" version when it doesn't even have a finalized sprite yet...

It is kind of big. Regarding the color, purple and orange play well together; maybe use the orange version, but make the orange stripe on the head and the spots purple?

Logiedan January 1st, 2011 12:36 PM

The Beetle feels too large in my opinion. I think it's design could be better fit for the size similar to Denchura's.

You could try add chopsticks for Chanpuff, maybe that would emphasize the noodle Pokemon. xD
In any case imo the sprite's already good as it is.

Anyways, here's Swampike:

Name: Swampike
Type/s: Water
Pokédex Entry: It is a large pokemon, as big as gyarados. It has a short temper. Scientists are unsure how wimpike evolves into this monster.
Ability/ies: Torrent/intimidate
Description: [Wimpike's evolution]

Changed it up a little as suggested.
