My favorites would have to be Volcarona, Braviary, Leavanny, Samurott, the Axew family, and Dwebble.
As for my most hated.....There are a few I don't like from every generation, but this time there seemed to be more than usual. Simipour, Garbadore, the Timburr family, Klink family, Cofagrigus, Gothita family, Vanilluxe family, and of course the Foongus line...yeah, more than usual. Some of them don't even look like pokemon, like Golurk, Sawk, and Throh.

Oh. And the Landorus, Thundorus, Whateverous. Really? They look like they came out of Dragon Ball Z or Monster Rancher.

Altorca May 10th, 2011 8:54 PM

all rock type pokemon their mechanics, general movesets, and ugly build makes me sik

TheGr8 May 10th, 2011 10:41 PM

I would take out Stunfisk. Pure Ugly. Worse than Feebas. >_<

Rionix May 11th, 2011 3:06 AM

garbador and its basic form... no question.. its the ugliest pokemon i've ever seen.

I like the fact that they redid an entirely new Pokédex, I get so excited when I get attacked by a wild Pokémon I've never seen before, and I just want to catch it! Then cry if I kill it by accident :'(

But I hate some of them too, they're just plain stoopid, like Pidove which is a plain pidgeon. Why would I want to have a pigeon in my team? I HATE PIGEONS!

Look at him, look deep into his stoopid empty eyes.

Baww, such an innocent look, how can anyone dislike it? ;-; -shot-

Though, I don't mind Pidove. It's the last evolution that I don't really like. Even if it has two different forms, depending on if it is a male or female, they both don't really appeal to me. Pidove and Tranquill at least look like decent pigeons/doves (i never really knew which one they were in specific, seems moreover like a pigeon to me); whereas Unfezant doesn't. ):

I hate that little rat one.

I noticed a few people are comparing some Pokemon to characters from other games. Well...

http://www.zeldawiki.org/images/thumb/7/74/GohmaLarva.png/115px-GohmaLarva.png
This is a GohmaLarva from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/thumb/6/69/524Roggenrola.png/110px-524Roggenrola.png
And this is Roggenrola.

Even Rogenrolla's Japanese name (Dangoro) sounds similar to Ghoma.
Idk, I still like Roggenrola, I just thought it was pretty interesting :P.

h0tshot1025 May 12th, 2011 12:41 AM

Basically, most of the Pokemon in Unova are just Alternate Universe versions of the 1st Gen Pokes

Maractus => Did even see that Pokemon? Yeah, it looks good, but Cacturne is lots better than Maractus.

Timburr's evolution line, I ignored them cause there are lots of better Fighting types.

Audino is a poor excuse for a Chansey. (I track em down for EXP >:D)

But I am impressed with the game itself.

And I like the type combinations of some Pokemon. XD

That actually sounds cool.

Here's something that's slightly interesting (might have been mentioned here before, idk). "Dangoro" is the name of a mini-boss from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, which I read about in Bulbapedia.

It looks nothing like Roggenrola though:

Anyway, the idea of them getting Pokemon design concepts from other Nintendo games hasn't been really done much, and some that have been done might have been coincidences, but if you happen to be a fan of another franchise and see something familiar from that in Pokemon, then that would be neat for them to do. Gen V seems to be taking a slight step towards that direction with Roggenrola (though it might be a coincidence).

Calamity May 12th, 2011 2:08 AM

One dislike I've had in my head for awhile is the ability sturdy on basic form pokemon like Roggenrola, where it's just an annoyance and just prolongs the things death, they should of changed it so only 1st or 2nd evo's get the ability.

Ho-Oh May 12th, 2011 2:08 AM

I don't see the similarity between those two at all :( Only thing that relates is the circle thing in the middle of their face. XD Either way, Roggenrola is cute, but I don't really like its other evolutions - especially its last evolution from which the name escapes me at the moment. Roggenrola needs moar love as a whole since it's kinda forgotten imo because of Boldore overshadowing it.~

I guess they aren't really that similar, with each being based on different things (Gohma on arthropod larvae and Roggenrola on geodes). But I think Roggenrola's design is nice, better than its evolutions, in my opinion. It also reminds me of Magnemite, which I didn't think of as ugly at all.

For other Pokemon, I think the design of Gen V as a whole is a mixed bag. But I think many have already focused on the bad ones in this thread, so I'll go say some that I think have nice designs based on official art: Lillipup, Roggenrola, Woobat, Sewaddle, Venipede, Petilil, Foongus, Joltik, Litwick, etc.

It seems most of the Pokemon designs from Gen V that I like come from unevolved Pokemon, though there are exceptions. Excadrill, Fraxure, Sawsbuck and Reuniclus look good to me. :)

Gothitelle. May 12th, 2011 4:32 AM

I think Roggenrola is a cutie. Giglith is ugly and generic. Boldore is okay. Spider rock... ehh.

;__; Yeah I know, they're pretty awesome to start out with, buuttt the hate comes from being fire/fighting, not pure fire. People would've liked that. XD (Or fire/ground)

Hmm I wish Simipour has a higher chance of being female (it is like 1/8th female lol), and the others stick to being mostly male. But either was they all have horrible designs and I don't see myself ever really using them :(

Roggenrola is so fricking awesome next to geodude

ceremony May 12th, 2011 2:08 PM

I don't like the lack of pure types. Ice-types were my favorite, and the ones they added actually took away from the group.

It was really hard creating an Unova-only team, let me tell you that.

A Hydreigon! <333333333333

Hydreigon is my favorite dragon Pokemon. It's cute, adorable and charming. Who wouldn't fall in love with it?

Why have you got lots of screenshots of Hydreigon being in love with Pokemon, lol. It's like you're purposely making it fall in love with everyone to use it for your own purposes!

...Anyway, I don't really love Hydreigon. I find it hilarious in the musicals, though! But like Deino and Zwelious, I forget they get confused and often get them mixed up with Haxorus' line due to the names.

lol, confused, I meant I forget they exist. :(

Darkrai::. May 13th, 2011 8:08 AM

I really hate the Maggyo design ehehe. And I really like the braviary design, hes amazing! *_*

I used the TM Attract and it makes Pokemon fall in love with mine. I find it cute that Pokemon think Hydreigon is a cutie~

I think Hydreigon is moreso pretty than cute.

lol wut? XD I forget about those names. Zweilous.... ew. I always remember they exist though, just because I think they look rather unique, like there is no Pokemon with a vaguely similar design. I wish they played a bigger part ingame though :(

ProGuava May 13th, 2011 2:36 PM

They have to be running out of ideas and I give them credit to creating 156 "unique" pokemon, but some of them bother me...vanillice???? really?

That is what heaps of people were saying ages ago, but you will honestly get used to the designs :3 they are just different, but after time you will start to like them (i used to hate the ice cream line but now i <3 them). There are plenty of great designs anyway

I'd have to agree. Just think about how many ideas they think through as well as needing to think of and create for a whole 100+ set of Pokémon, all for another generation. It may be pretty difficult, and if you think about it, if you want to get the game at a faster rate while still having the great features they bring in to experience, you're going to have to accept some of the designs, somehow. :o Not going against anyone's opinion on any of the Pokémon, but it's sort of my reasoning for not really caring too much about the design of some introduced.

Cute, cute. :)

champagnepapi May 13th, 2011 7:20 PM

I myself have gotten used to a lot of the Fifth Generation Pokemons' designs. Especially that of Reuniclus. I thought it to be poorly designed, upon seeing it for the first time, but Reuniclus has really grown on me, and it's now one of my 3 favorite Pokemon. Another 5th Gen Pokemon that has grown on me, would be Beartic. At first, I thought it to have a horrid design, and today, I realized how great it looked. The coloring, the expression on its face, everything about it, I just love.
