New Grand Theft Auto 5 Domains Registered?
In and of itself, the registration of some new domain names by Take-Two doesn't mean much. But given Rockstar's propensity for establishing fake brands in its Grand Theft Auto games and then creating actual websites for them, the registration of five new domains suddenly becomes much more interesting. As originally spotted by a GTA fansite , the domains' registration information originally showed that they had been purchased by Take-Two. (They've since been changed to hide that fact.) Take-Two's ownership alone doesn't guarantee that they'll be used in Grand Theft Auto 5 (or whatever the next GTA game ends up being called). In reading their names, though, it's not difficult to imagine them being promoted on in-game billboards or radio commercials: CashForDeadDreams.com, SixFigureTemps.com, StopPayingYourMortgage.net, HammersteinFaust.com, and LifeInvader.com.
Also fueling rumors of GTA 5 recently was a listing for the game on the resume of stuntman Declan Mulvey. Listed alongside Red Dead Redemption was "Grand Theft Auto V." As it turns out,CVG was able to confirm with Mulvey that the listing was the result of a typo -- it was meant to be Grand Theft Auto IV and he simply missed the "I."
That's a bit of a letdown. At least GTA fans can still cling to the hope that analyst Michael Pachter is correct in suggesting that a 2011release for GTA5 makes a lot of sense.
