On that particular occasion, it's probably because Night Slash has an increased critical hit ratio compared to normal moves. In general, though, I have no idea why it would appear that way.

That happened on at least 50 different occasions and they aren't very far apart. Hell, I've has 3 of my pokemon killed by a critical by the same pokemon, same battle. Pisses me off.

Yeah...Night Slash's secondary effect is most likely why so many Critical Hits occurred in that specific battle. As for in general...just chalk it up to The Computer Is A Cheating "Jerk" and move on, fellow Trainer. T_T

Is there any way to get a Hondew Berry or any EV reducing berries in Black and White? Serebii doesn't list locations for any of them, and I screwed up by killing a Petilil while Ev Training my Umbreon for Defense in Pinwheel Forest.

The DW has them, in the Sky area. You can also make friends with someone who offers them on their Share Shelf. That's the only way to get EV reducing berries in Black and White.

Damn, that sucks. I left trading out of the option and Dream World as I don't have the necessary flash update to use it and can't install it on the school's laptop, and I won't be finding any pokemon to trade for with one attached.

Yesterday at the tree of dreams, I noticed there was an Arceus that had been caught with a dream ball... Is that a hack or had there been an Arceus giveaway (in Japan I assume)?

If it was a giveaway, then the ball the Arceus is in would be a Cherish Ball, the ball used for all legitimate Nintendo events. It's probable that the Arceus you saw was hacked. I mean, there isn't anyone preventing them to go into the Dream World, so yeah...

You can also check all events in Japan that happened recently. Arceus isn't listed on there.

I can't understand how White Forest & Black City work.

When my brother goes to my Black City via Entralink, he asks a few people to move to White Forest.
I do the same: I ask the WF people if they want to move to BC.

Now, my question is, how do I make Aron appear in the White Forest?
On Bulbapedia, it says Rate: Gene.

What is that exactly?

As giveaway, I meant a DW giveaway like the Eeveelution one. So it'd be in a dream ball... Thanks for the reply though!

To get Aron to appear, you have to get the trainer named "Gene" to move to your White Forest. If he is not in your brothers' Black City, and not in yours, you must either restart and hope you get him or Entralink with someone else that has this. There is unfortunately no way to Entralink on Wifi though, so...

I'm wondering how breeding IVs works. Is it rare to get a flawless Ditto, because I do have a box full of them from Diamond. Also, do I use an Everstone for the baby to get the IV traits?

And how do I go about getting perfect IVs using a Ditto, but then getting the nature from the other parent?

This is pretty much the go-to place for learning how to efficiently IV breed.

http://www.smogon.com/ingame/guides/breeding_guide_part1

Just look through all the parts and enjoy. o:

Also, the Everstone is only used to pass down Natures. You need to equip one of the parents with a Power item. Whatever Power item you equip it with, that particular IV will be inherited to the baby. So if you give the parent a Power Anklet, its Speed IV will be passed down. It should be in the guide, so take a nice read. :)

Oh. Okay, thanks :D

Also, it says my perfectly EV trained Vigoroth holding Eviolite is unable to compete on Random Matchup. Why? D:

Vigoroth (male) Lv.50
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Vital Spirit
Item: Eviolite
- Focus Punch 20/20
- Hone Claws 15/15
- Rock Slide 12/12
- Crush Claw 12/12

HP: 171
Attack: 136
Defense: 85
Sp. Atk: 54
Sp. Def: 60
Speed: 107

chaos11011 April 29th, 2011 6:21 AM

Is another Pokemon in your team holding Eviolite other then Vigoroth? Are you using a Rotom, Shaymin, Jirachi, ect.

If so, that is why.

rainbow April 29th, 2011 7:30 AM

Using a perfect IV jap Ditto on my english game, bred thirty snivys and not a single shiny.
Am I doing the Masuda method wrong?

The Masuda method only ups the chances to ~1/2000. It doesn't make it easy to get a shiny, just easier than without it.

And yes, you are.

Does any one of the Pokémon you haven't listed know the move Sky Drop? It's banned in online play because of a glitch that can be exploited when Gravity is in effect.

Calamity April 29th, 2011 10:39 AM

Random question, but if you used Toxic on a pokemon with the ability 'Poison heal' I think its called. Would the amount of hp it restores increase each turn like toxic's effect gets worse, or does it stay the same amount? Sorry if this is the wrong place. :)

Bluerang1 April 29th, 2011 10:41 AM

What are the chances of the baby of a Shiny Male and a Foreign Female being shiny?

FF : FFFF = 4x8 : 65536 = 4 : 4096 = 1 : 1024

So, in theory, you would have to breed 1024 eggs to get a shiny one. But in the non-theoretical life, it depends on your luck.

It just heals the regular 1/8th of your HP.

Depends on what moves you want the Pokemon to know, when the Pokemon learns them, and when you want to evolve them. Once you've made sure that the Pokemon knows what moves you want them to learn (or haven't missed learning them), then you can evolve them if you want.

As far as I know, Phione isn't one of the "unshiny" Legendaries in B/W. I haven't heard anything about Phione being programmed to never appear shiny in those games. (I could be wrong, however.)

You have to calculate that as you fight, there's no way to actually check it without using an Action Reply unfortunately. There's probably someone that would check it for you though using one, but I don't think this is the place you would look for them.

That's pretty common for low-leveled Pokémon, actually. Nothing special really, sorry :/

moon_light April 30th, 2011 1:48 AM

Hi, can someone check to see if I'm calculating EVs right?

suppose that I'm increasing my dewott's special atk by fighting litwick which give 1 EV each. dewott has pokerus and is holding power lens (+4 special atk).
(1EV from litwick + 4EV from power lens) x2 from pokerus = 10 special atk EV from fighting one litwick?

if I give it a power weight (+4 HP) instead of a power lens then it would be this?
(1EV from litwick + 4HP from power weight) x2 from pokerus = 2 special atk EV and 8 HP EV??

Misheard Whisper April 30th, 2011 2:09 AM

Yup, moon_light. You have that exactly right. Pokerus doubles all EVs gained, whether they're from Power items or simply battling. ^_^

moon_light April 30th, 2011 3:07 AM

ok, thanks!
does macho brace come before pokerus too?

Misheard Whisper April 30th, 2011 3:10 AM

Yep, pretty much. So essentially, slap a Macho Brace on a Pokemon with Pokerus and that Pokemon will gain four times the EVs it normally would from each wild Pokemon battle (ie four Sp. Atk EVs from each Litwick). Power items are still your best bet, though. More focused and faster.

You'll need an account on Pokemon.com first. After you create your account on Pokemon.com, within pokemon-gl.com you'll have to register your game card to that account. To do this, go onto your Pokémon game's main menu (The one right after the title screen) and select Game Sync Settings (or something like that).

There'll be a code that you have to input into your pokemon-gl.com account in order to sync your game to your online account. Once you do that, just tuck in a Pokémon by pressing the Online button on your C-Gear and then pressing Game Sync.

After that, just go log in to the website and click the Dream World button. :)

Could have something to do with the parental stuff. My sister had the same problem. She registered using her own e-mail, but later I think it told her something along the lines that a parent e-mail account has to verify the account. Depends on how young your brother is, though.

Oooooh...

There's something on here in the FAQ for Pokemon.com:

Quote:

Creating a new account as simple to do. To create a new account, visit the signup page and follow the instructions.

If you are under the age of consent, you will be required to have a parent or guardian create an account as well.

If you are a parent assisting your child with creation of an account that includes a Play! Pokémon player ID, please make sure that you are adding that ID to the appropriate account. After the accounts have been created, log in to the parent account, and click your child's name in the "My Family" section of your profile.

Once in your child's account, clicking the "Play! Pokémon" tab will bring up the window where you can enter their Player ID and PIN.

There's also another page about it too. I'll let you read both? xD

http://support.pokemon.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=63
http://support.pokemon.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=69

In short though, if the child is under age (Probably 13 or something), then a parent needs to make an account as well to verify the child.

The Dream World isn't something you access in your game, but online with the computer. This website (Click Here) allows you to explore the Dream World, to be exact. However in order to experience it, through your game you must put a Pokémon (the one you wish to go through with the Dream World) to sleep via Game Sync found in the C-Gear. It will then transfer the Pokémon to the Dream World where you can access all of the features Dream World has for you on that website. Unfortunately, you can only play for an hour each day. :<

Invest in it in Hp mostly, and maybe a bit into Defense, maybe 212 into Hp, and the rest into Defense.

It's best to max out its HP, since its defenses are equal. It's also slow, making investing in Speed pointless, unless you're planning to outspeed certain walls.

ceremony April 30th, 2011 9:55 PM

Thanks, if there are any walls I have Trick Room to fix that for him. 252 attack, 252 hp, where would the other 6 go? Speed?

Just to confirm, you did register your game sync code with your account, right?

Zayin May 1st, 2011 10:28 AM

Regarding the question I had asked about the color of my C-Gear, well, the season changed to Spring and the hearts turned from red to green. I guess it has to do with that.

jigglyppuff8 May 1st, 2011 10:36 AM

Actually, the red indicates that there is a wi-fi connection nearby, but you aren't connected to that network. The green indicates that you are near a network that you have a connection to.

Zayin May 1st, 2011 4:20 PM

That's pretty weird because it's the exact same connection. In addition, my 3DS connects to the wi-fi automatically before I launch Black. Still the hearts were red.

That would be an item FOUND while going to south-east Route 17, as accessed BEFORE entering that gatehouse.

SURF is needed to get to that area. A skinny sort of path along the rocky cliff on one side, trees on the other. Happy hunting ^__^

When you hit Game Sync, you only have the option to wake up your Pokemon if you haven't done so yet, so you will automatically if you want to tuck another in and do the Dream World again.

Destiny Bond and still lose?

Me and my brother was battling and we were both down to our last pokemon. As a battle strategy (and refusing to lose) I decided to use destiny bond. We both ended up fainting our last pokemon from me using the move. Thinking it was going to be a draw, the screen came up saying that my brother won and I lost. How did this happen?! I mean, I read all over the internet and it said that whoever faints from the move Destiny Bond will faint before the pokemon that uses the move. But it also says that they faint at the same time. But I still lost and I was the one that used the move. Can someone explain to me why this happened?

Might be a Self KO Clause.

Quote:

Self-KO Clause (also known as Kamikaze Clause): The player automatically loses if his last Pokémon uses Selfdestruct or Explosion. Destiny Bond and Perish Song also fail when used by the last Pokémon.
@hiff8:

That would be correct. The easiest one to do would be Klink, since it already knows Charge when you catch it.

Must have hit midnight (00:00) with those pokemon outside of the PC. When this happens, pokemon lose the ability to spread pokerus to other pokemon. This is indicated (at least it was in gen 4, not sure in gen 5) by a small yellow smiley face in the summary.

Adding on to the above poster, whatever Pokemon that has the smiley will still have the effects of Pokerus, but it wont be able to spread it anymore.

Actually no. I think you're talking about something else. The girl is actually a ghost (as explained by an old lady), that used to play with her ABra before the bridge was built.

Is it possible to EV train a Pokemon after it has reached level 100?

Yup, in this game, unlike the others, EVs are calculated after every battle so you can EV train level 100s.

I have a pokemon with pokerus but how can I transfer it to my other pokemon?

Misheard Whisper May 3rd, 2011 10:23 AM

If it has the active PKRS condition, it will transfer it to adjacent Pokemon in your party after every battle.

Hi, I really need to know the following:

I've seen people using a 3th generation Pokémon in B/W before they even finished it!

Is it possible to:

Import a Pokémon from my finished HG/Platinum game to B/W? If no, is it possible to import a Pokémon from someones finished B/W game to my B/W game via Wifi and friendcodes?

Thank you! :D

There's no limitation among trading National Dex Pokémon over to your B/W, even if you didn't beat the main story. You can't do anything like transfer your own Pokémon over until you did defeat the Elite Four, but at least you can trade with a friend that already did defeat the Elite Four and have access to 3rd Generation Pokémon.

However, you can transfer the Event Legendary Dogs and Celebii over using the Relocator. There's a clown in Castelia City inside an office where you'll be asked for a password. The two phrases are "EVERYBODY HAPPY" and "SIMPLE CONNECTION". You'll then be able to send over the Event Legendary Dogs and Celebii for the Zoroark/Zorua event.

Also, the Dream World is a perfect place to get National Dex Pokémon without needing to beat the main story.

EDIT: Hurrah! We broke 2000 posts in here. :)

Two questions:

1) If I wanted a Seismitoad with the Poison Touch ability, does he need to know Hydration as a Tympole?

2) Is EV training for a level 100 only possible for one that hasn't had their EVs maxed? I don't want to EV train to worry about having its EVs changed later on.

1. That's correct. If it know Swift Swim, it will keep it all the way through.

2. Right, EVs don't change once they're maxed.

How do you obtain a Light Orb in B/W? I think you can in the dream world, but how/where? :(

No :( I mean the Light Orb, the item that raises Pikachu's Sp. Atk and is the key to getting Pikachu Volt Tackle.

doh! forgot about that, either the dream world or someone with a cheating device would probably be your only chance :(

Indeed... Though it doesn't seem like you can get the Light Ball in the Dream World yet, since there's no Pikachu nor Light Ball released at this time. :/

Unfortunate. I would have really thought that the Treasure Hunter in Route 13 would be able to give you a Light Ball, but sadly, he doesn't.

If you're using the Light Ball to get a Pichu with Volt Tackle, you might as well do all the stuff in a Gen IV game and then transfer the baby over. Otherwise, if it's for making a pumped up Pikachu, then I guess you're out of luck legitimately for the moment. :(

Thanks!, But I don't understand this part. What's the difference between transferring your own Pokémon (not possible) and trading with a friend (possible)? Is it some new feature in gen 5 or something?

Sorry about the spam message above here. It was a test message and I thought it didn't post because the site server was slow, else I would've edited it with the message I posted just now.

When I say transferring your own Pokémon, I mean the whole migration/import-your-past-gen-Pokémon thing. xD The only reason why you're unable to do it right now is because, well, you haven't completed the main story yet, so you're unable to get to the PokéTransfer Lab since the route it's on is right now inaccessible to you.

You can simply get around this if you have a friend that did go through the main story, since that friend will be able to access the PokéTransfer Lab, migrate your Pokémon for you, and then trade it over to your game without any limitations.

Do the EV stats actually show up at any point, or do they remain hidden?

EV stats are never visible in-game. I believe using a cheat device a la Action Replay you're actually able to see these values, but I've only read such a thing and have not seen visual evidence.

You can still find out if your EV stats are maxed out though by talking to a woman in Opelucid City.

Hopefully you have kept tally of all the Pokémon you battled with that fellow.

Questions like these belong in Quick Questions, which is what this has been merged to, incase anyone has further input.

Not really sure how many masterballs you have, since it sounds like you've got many, but my best suggestion is to use masterballs on roamers like Thundurus, cause they're time consuming and annoying. :(

I haven't started EV training yet, need to make sure I don't make any mistakes :P

Does the lady tell me in which stat it's maxed or just if I've reached the total max?

I'll probably count the EV's in the process though.
