I thiiiink this is assuming that you're playing a ROM on an SD card to begin with. I could be wrong though.

South of Nimbasa and left.

It's in the desert. Go south from Nimbasa and left. You should end up in the Desert Resort. The Relic Castle is located in the northernmost part of the Desert Resort.

Ok, I am wanting to get the recorded wifi battle from my DSi onto a SD card and I do not currently own a flash card nor do I own a microSD, Just an SD card. That's ALL I want to know right now, is how to get that data onto my SD card from my DSi

I highly doubt that the Battle Video data is stored in any kind of watchable video format (more likely, the game just "replays" the battle). Therefore, I don't think there is a way to put the videos on an SD card. I'm pretty sure the best you can do is upload the battle to WiFi and write down the number it gives you (so you can watch it again).

It entirely depends on how long it takes you to get to the city. I only had one person in my White Forest after spending 50+ hours getting to it. My boyfriend had about 5 trainers in his Black City after spending ~25. Also, if you don't talk to the people every day, they'll eventually disappear.

To get more people, you accept a quest (not a timed one) from the Entralink dude, and visit your sister's world. Then you go to her White Forest and talk to the people there. Some of them will want to go to Black City, and then you'll have more people.

Is Metagross a wall? Does he play multiple roles or what is his main role?

Gulpin June 24th, 2011 11:58 AM

Metagross is more of a mixed attacker. Here is his 5th Gen OU Analysis so that you can read up on him -- [x].

Well the dragons you can get in Unova before the game is over is Axew, Druddigon, and Deino. Axew can't be found until near the end of the game because you need Surf first. Druddigon is only found around the 7th gym. Deino is found on Victory Road. So if I were you I wouldn't start over, since dragons aren't found till later in the game anyway.

Gulpin June 24th, 2011 6:29 PM

It's up to you whether or not to restart, but I wouldn't because you don't find any dragons until about halfway through the game anyways if I remember correctly.

Aww, ninja'd

Okay, I have a few (quick questions) hehe.

First thing what is the best nature and moves for a pikachu and charmander?

Second is...Allright I really don't get this stupid interlink world thing. I've done a interlink with white forest and black city and I've only been able to bring one trainer back to black city. Its like I'm not at the max, I have 2 trainers in black city but thats all. Please, help me out, I'm not stupid. I've read all the directions and nobody really knows the answer for this one.

I can't answer your first, but I did answer your second on irc. Sometimes you just can't bring many over. Try Entralinking with other people. I could only get 2 from one game and my boyfriend got 3 from mine.

Pikachu @ Light Ball
= Timid
~ Lightningrod
# Volt Change
# Grass Knot
# Hidden Power [ICE]
# Agility

Come in on an Electric-type attack, use Agility. Hope you don't faint, then use an attack. Your foe is probably expecting an Electric-type attack, so use Grass Knot or [ICE] to send them away. Volt Change is good for switching out. Pikachu isn't the best Pokemon to use.

Raichu @ Air Balloon
= Timid
~ Lightningrod
# Encore
# Thunder Wave / Agility
# Electro Ball
# Hidden Power [ICE]

Switch in on an Electric-type attack, Encore it, Thunder Wave / Agility on the switch and attempt to sweep using a powered up Electro Ball (due to increased Speed as well as Lightningrod's bonus).

Charmander @ Oran Berry
= Jolly
~ Blaze
# Swords Dance
# Flame Charge
# Fire Punch / Thunderpunch
# Dragon Claw

Swords Dance and Flame Charge to get your stats up. Sweep with Fire Punch / Thunderpunch or Dragon Claw, which have pretty strong coverage in Little Cup.

Charizard @ Choice Specs
= Timid
~ Solar Power
# Fire Blast
# Focus Blast
# Air Slash
# Filler

Use in sunlight. Wreck things with massive SpA. Fire Blast hits harder than anything else in sunlight, so don't even bother with that super effective game, unless you're hitting for 4x effective. If you hit a Parasect with Dry Skin, you'll hit 8x on Fire Blast, though, plus STAB. Plus 50% from sunlight. Plus Solar Power. Plus Choice Specs. That's 2160 Base Power running off 713.25 SpA. 7492-8820 damage just fyi.

EV Training Question.

Hello,

First I'd like to say that I am new to Pokemon Black and White. The last experience I had with pokemon was with Pokemon Silver (On Gameboy Color). I have just recently learned of something called. EV Training. From what I understand, you can manipulate your pokemon's stats with certain items. My question is, would I be able to have full control of these starts at any level? (even level 100?) Or would I need to start from level 1 in order to achieve the stats I specifically want. I've read guides online but they say mixed things. Thank you for your answer!

Gulpin June 25th, 2011 6:37 PM

I think there is a way to EV train at level 100, but I'm not sure if it is possible in BW. You should read as many guides as you can, and there is one in the FAQ, and probably some in the Competitive Battle Center, and Google ought to bring up quite a few guides if you Google 'BW EV Training Guide."

You're right, you can EV train at 100 in B/W. But chances are, EVs will be distributed by then. It only applies really to Pokemon that were received at 100 (gift Pokemon), and rare candied Pokemon.

And although you can change them at any level until you use all the EVs available, if you start from a newly hatched egg you can be sure that your Pokemon started with 0 EVs. If you pick, for example, your level 23 starter, it will already have some EVs on it. I believe the FAQ has an EV training guide.

Okay, thanks. I was also wondering. Say I started doing it with my level 25 starter. Would I still be able to use berries (read that somewhere) to lower the EV to the point I want? Is there anyway to have full control over EV at level 50 or something?

Technically yes, but the only way to get those berries is through the Dream World, so if you want them be sure to start doing that every day to get enough points so that you can collect them.

Thanks so much for all your help! I did have a few other questions:

1. What is action replay and does it work with the 3ds?

2. Couldn't I IV/Ev (whatever it is called) train my pokemon quicker with action replay?

3. Can I use modified pokemon (using action replay) to play online?

Sorry if this is not allowed or taboo I am new to this.

1. It's a hacking device, but idk if it works with the 3ds.
2. Probably yeah, because it would hack you perfect Pokemon.
3. Not really, unless you know how to do it Nintendo can pick out hacked Pokemon. I would just do it the traditional way.

Yeah, i wasn't really going to hack max stats for everything or anything. I was just wondering if I could speed up the leveling process.

I'm looking for a Dream World Shuppet, Drifloon and other Pokemon because of their abilities. I've been trying to find a list as to where I can find these Pokemon in Dream World, but I can't find anything. Is there a list that anyone knows of that lists the Pokemon and their locations in DW? I've checked Bulbapedia and it didn't include the above Pokemon anywhere, yet they have DW abilities.

Try this link for all available right now. Just because they have abilities doesn't mean they're available just yet.

Here's a quick question:

1. from my understanding, your pokemon are caught/born with certain IV Traits. You want them to have their Iv traits in the things you want to Ev Boost. How do you know what IV your newly breed pokemon has?

2. From my understanding, EV training only takes about 1 hour to do. Basically, you set your pokemon on the right track for the EV you want by killing certain pokemon with certain items equipped on your pokemon. However, when my pokemon is on the right track with EV, how do I get to to max level? Do I need to continue killing thoss specific pokemon that give it the ev traits? Or can I just kill anything?

There are many IV checkers online, but they're generally not very accurate for a level 1 Pokemon. What I do is save my game, give my Pokemon my 10 or so Rare Candies, plug the stats into an IV checker online to see if it has close to what I want, and then restart the game without saving so I don't lose the Candies. There are other ways to do it (Daycare levels it without giving it EVs as well), or you can use an AR. Using an AR to check IVs isn't generally considered cheating.

EV train before you level. If your Pokemon is level 1, have it hold an Exp. Share instead of the Power Item, or switch it out at the beginning so it can hold the Power Item, but either way EV train before you do anything else. After your EVs are maxed out, it doesn't matter what you kill. That's when you start Elite Four grinding, or Audino grinding, to get your Pokemon to the level you want.

Thanks for the swift reply. Here are a few other questions:

1. Doing your method (with the save) would I get different results each time I give them the 10 rare candies? (I could technically keep doing this till I get the right one if this is true) Or would I have to scrap the pokemon?

2. What do you mean by EV Train? Isn't Ev training where your pokemon gets Ev points on a certain stat everytime you kill x pokemon? Do you mean I should kill the pokemon that give me the stat I want till I have achieved the maximum refinement I want, then I can go level normally?

I'm not sure what you mean. IVs are set once the egg is hatched. 10 Rare Candies will have the same effect every time you give them to a Pokemon because as soon as they're born their path is decided (I guess we know where Nintendo stands on nature vs nurture...)

You're better off looking at a full EV guide to get the more detailed answer, but basically, you have 510 EVs to distribute as you want, and can only have 255 at once in a stat. 4 EVs = 1 stat point, so you don't want more than 252 in a stat because the last 3 are wasted. Generally most EV spreads are 252 in two different stats, then 4 in a third. Once you have your EVs set the way you want, then you can level in any way that you want.

rosefox911 June 26th, 2011 9:15 AM

Final question (sorry for all the questions):

You mentioned that Iv/nature/etc is determined once the pokemon hatches. So, do you think it would be beneficial to just save the game right before I am given the egg, wait till it hatches, give it rare candy etc etc till I get the nature/IV I want? Or is there a better way?

竜の子 June 26th, 2011 9:20 AM

YEs,the only other ways would be:

Hacking
Mass breeding
trading

Well the egg has its own IVs, but tbh I'm not sure about it before it's given to you. What I do to get the IVs I want are keep a Pokemon with Flame body in my party (halves steps to hatching), and keep running in front the Daycare. I pick up 5 eggs and make them all hatch, then one by one check all their IVs. If nothing, I release them all in the Daycare PC and do it again for 5 more.

What's the point of Pokemon Online or any other pokemon simulator? People can just max out all stats and win easily by doing so, so what's the point of selecting your dream team and how you'd train them exactly if there's a chance of going up against some jerk who just maxed their team? You didn't even train those pokemon, so it's a rather lazy way of battling and it takes away the meaning of it. If someone could make me understand better than by all means do so ^^

In the Pokemon simulator, there's no chance of you losing because you don't want to put forth weeks just breeding the perfect Pokemon. You can practice with your team and see if it's viable competitively before you try to spend all the time raising Pokemon that aren't great. Plus if you enjoy the battling aspect but not the training aspect you can have fun with that. All the Pokemon are held to the same rules as ingame with EVs and IVs and movesets.

Choice lens? I'm pretty sure that's not an item...

Though if you mean Power Lens, that raises Special Attack EVs so you're going to want to use Calcium. We have a whole EV guide with vitamin listings and all, here.

I think he's melding together Power Lens and Choice Specs, which was what was suggested for his Timid Charizard a few pages back. Doesn't change the answer though.

How rampant is cheating online? I don't want to spend weeks building my team just to have some jerk have maxed out hacked pokemon.

jigglyppuff8 June 27th, 2011 8:55 AM

Nonexistant in Nintendo's own random wi-fi battle system. All Pokemon I've encountered there are completely legal.

Outside of it, you'll find some hackers, but the ratio is very small. More likely, you'll find people will use Pokemon that are within the limits of legality than people who use hacks that make Pokemon stronger than they should be.

If any Pokemon is hacked they still possess legal stats. The random wi-fi system has a filter that kicks off Pokemon with illegal movesets, stats, abilities, etc. I once hacked a legal egg move onto a Dusclops I bred legally, but that isn't even allowed.

Wow, I'm glad they're getting stricter about things like these... though the egg move thing I find a bit too extreme. I don't see hacking a move that a Pokemon can legitimately learn doing any harm. Still, it's nice to see such strictness be put into effect.

I think you mean EVs? IVs are the ones that you have to breed to get.

Lillipup - 1 Atk
Herdier - 2 Atk
Watchog - 1 Atk

I suppose it's for the best. Hacking will take a drastic hit thanks to the wi-fi filter and the frequent updates to 3DS. Action Replay will most likely be eliminated since Nintendo's newest handheld is going to be receiving official updates by itself. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure firmware updates like this are the reason that Action Replay stop working for the Wii. This means the tools for hacking Pokemon games will be no longer be as accessible as they are now once Game Freak starts developing for the 3DS. If you want to hack you're going to have to jump though some hoops like the Wii hackers.

How many "Wing"s should I use at a time on a Pokemon per level? If I use a whole ton between one level up, will various stats still be boosted a lot, or will different feathers nullify each other to some point, and will using too many between one level up have no effect beyond a certain point?

You should probably read an EV guide to fully understand feathers. Each one adds 1 EV to the given stat, up to 255 EVs per stat and 510 EVs over an entire Pokemon. Check out a guide to get a much more in-depth understanding of EVs and different ways to raise them :)

IS it better to train Emboar's Fire part with SpAtt or the FIght with Att?

Generally it's EVed for Attack, considering that it learns 3 Fire/Physical moves and only one Fighting/Special. Although it's not unheard of to have it EVed in both, I really don't think it's common to just train it in Special Attack because its Fighting side is very stinted in that way.

Its best stat and moves are with its physical Attack stat so you should EV train that. Pokemon aren't split into sides with one being better in one attack than the other - it's one whole Pokemon, and Emboar in particular likes to smash things with its physical moves rather than its special ones. :)

Gymnotide June 27th, 2011 6:27 PM

If you read this perchance, I just want to point out that Emboar is also formidable in the Special field regardless of what the two posters above have mentioned. While it's not as high as his bATK of 123, he does have 100 points in bSpA. That's a lot. He also has good coverage attacks in the Special field too--STAB isn't all that matters. Besides, your foe is expecting you to use Physical moves, so why not surprise them?

Emboar @ Life Orb
~ Blaze / Reckless
# Flare Blitz
# Superpower / Earthquake / Wild Charge
# Scald / Grass Knot
# Cheer Up

Cheer Up lets you break through stallers who want to wall you in a certain move. Running Scald means Jellicent completely walls you, though... And Grass Knot doesn't do that well against it either. However, the set is pretty solid as it goes. edit I've added Wild Charge on the off-chance you find that useful too.

Emboar @ Choice Specs
~ Blaze
# Overheat
# Scald
# Grass Knot
# Focus Blast

Probably needs some Trick Room support just for the SPE--bSPE 65 is pretty low. Using Specs allows you to incorporate all of Emboar's best Special attacks in one set. However, it's also pretty predictable (after the shock that you're actually using a Special Emboar wth).

Emboar @ Life Orb
~ Blaze / Reckless
# Overheat
# Wild Charge
# Head Smash
# Superpower

Kind of a mix of the above two. Trick Room, please.

Though, admittedly, Emboar does have more variety in the Physical field. Note the following two sets.

Emboar @ Choice Band / Life Orb
~ Reckless
# Flare Blitz
# Wild Charge
# Head Smash
# Earthquake

Wreck things with Reckless. Don't bother with Earthquake unless it hits 4x. You'll hit yourself back really, really hard so don't expect too many kills. Possibly run with Wish support.

Emboar @ Life Orb
~ Blaze
# Heat Stamp
# Curse
# Hammer Arm
# Gyro Ball

Minimize SPE IV and EVs / use Brave nature. Hammer Arm adds to Gyro Ball pain. Trick Room support, please.

Okay in white forest, its plum full of people. But I've only had one mission from the old guy in the shack since saturday. He's not giving me anymore and all the people keep on saying come back tomorrow. Does anybody no what the problem is? Plus oooh, anyone knows what nintendo is doing with this 24 hour update? New pokemon? ooh haha

Gymnotide June 28th, 2011 4:16 PM

Have you been fiddling with your DS clock, or switching DS consoles? Don't do that.
Maybe we're getting Pokemon Cafe :P Though, probably not T~T

okjoek June 28th, 2011 6:27 PM

I'm not ready! where can I train?

I'm finaly at long last at the unova leage to become a pokemon master (I try to stay enthusiastic like I used to be) and I'm not sure I'm ready. I've faught every trainer I could possibly find throughou the ntire region. I cleaned up all routes including the dead end waterway near the starting town aswell as battle facilities such as thebattle company or whatever in castelia which braught me to a team of:

serperior level 50
simipour level 45
stoutland level 45
darmanitan level 43
swanna level 43
and fraxure level 47

Will pokemon of this level be able to win? I'm out of people I could find to fight and I find it unusual that there are still two towns and the white forrest they won't let me visit yet aswell as stopping team plasma before becoming the champion? I thaught you were supposed to finnish the storyline before becoming champion. in most pokemon games.

The Elite Four aren't that difficult, just go for it. Stock up on healing items like revives, full restores, moo moo milk, etc., and you'll be fine with pretty much any team. You don't become the champion in the main storyline, there is a much more interesting twist. Also, those two towns are for the postgame.

Just wait 24 hours with no clock twiddling and it'll reset.

LavanZev June 28th, 2011 8:25 PM

Does it go the same for switching ds's and time?

Oryx June 28th, 2011 8:53 PM

Any time-related issues you have will be solved if you wait 24 hours I believe.

LavanZev June 28th, 2011 8:58 PM

Well I wish people could post this problem more often, because this is why I'm having problems with my white forest and black city. But I guess not much people where as ignorant as I was this week.

She gives you one after going to the Relic Castle after you beat the E4.You can also get one in a house during the winter in South Icirrus city.

Would my pokemon be weaker if I EV trained them first then just leveled them up with rare candies? (My friend has an AR for me to borrow, even though I hate using it) Or would it be counted as hacking? I'm interested in using them for competitive battling, and it's just taking too long to lvl them.

They'll be the same strength as if you had leveled them and then EV trained them. I don't think that hacking to get infinite Rare Candies would be considered hacking tbh.

Ok I got a egg move breeding question. If someone trades me a ex(Volt Tackle Pichu) could i breed it to get another volt tackle pichu or would i have to use the original method to get the vt pichu.

I think you would get a Volt Tackle Pichu, I'll have to try it out for myself. ^_^

Nope. 4th Generation games cannot trade with 5th Generation games at all. To get your 4th Generation Pokemon onto your 5th Generation games, you have to use PokeTransfer.

No, the 4th gen GTS only trades with the 4th and the 5th with the 5th.

okjoek July 1st, 2011 6:16 PM

Hi I think I might have a problem.

My date on my ds is set to july 1st and has never been tampered with yet it's saying in the game (pokmon white) that it is now autumn which I know for a fact it is summer.

Is it only me or is it just a part of the game intentionaly?

Also another question. How do I obtain dream world abilities? I'm sorta new to my pokemon white version so if you could direct me to an in game explaination that would be great too.

jigglyppuff8 July 1st, 2011 6:19 PM

The seasons change at the start of every month rather than every 3 months like in real life, so yes, it's intentional.

okjoek July 1st, 2011 6:32 PM

Oh haha I wish I had know'n that. Now can someone give or direct as to how to get a dream world ability?

TheFuturePokemon July 1st, 2011 7:15 PM

Another question. Is it possible to get a shiny pokemon in dream world?

They come from Pokemon obtained in the Pokemon Dream World.

Females with Dream World abilities have a 40% chance to pass down their DW ability as long as they are not breeding with Ditto.

The game checks if the Pokemon is shiny and then changes it if it is, so no.

cazzler July 2nd, 2011 12:52 AM

Is the Zoroark and Zorua you encounter in the games, (Using Celebi or the dog trio) considered an 'event' Pokemon?

Gymnotide July 2nd, 2011 1:32 AM

Yes, they are considered Event Pokemon.

Yeah, it increases; I don't know the exact percentage, though. An NPC says that using a Bicycle or Running Shoes in tall grass will alert Pokemon due to the loud sound they make. Not sure about this functionality in caves, though. Since you're also making more ground in the same time, you're effectively getting a double bonus to wild battles as well.

It's the same for caves =)
But omg why did they put this in the game? :D

Is there a way to increase the Chances Of Getting Rustling Grass? or an item that does it.

Caranciio July 4th, 2011 1:36 PM

I don't think so. Just go on a small route, like one before a bridge, and keep running back and forth.

Help raising lvl 100 stats

I imported a lvl 100 Shaymin from SS to White and its stats seemed relatively low to me. I checked to see its max stats when fully EV trained and my shaymin's stats aren't even close to the max. I think this might be cause I used vitamins. Anyway I tried EV training my hp first at Icarus city (current 320/ max 340) but after killing quite a few even with a macho brace, the hp of my shaymin remained the same. Is there any way that I can continue raising the stats of my shaymin?

Kleinchen July 5th, 2011 2:03 PM

EVs only affect stats after you've leveled up, and even then it's spread out. You could do a full 255 EVs (the most that can be used on one specific stat, btw) for a stat in one level but the stat isn't going to magically go up to its max once you go up one level -- it just increases slightly with each level you go up. Because your Pokemon is lvl100 now, the only way to make those EVs go into effect is the Box Trick (not sure if this works in B/W though), just put it in the box and take it back out and its stat should go up because its stats are recalculated every time it goes in the box. But like I said I don't know if this works in 5th gen.

It sounds to me like you need to do a little more research on EVs and how they work. This guide would be a good place to start.

spiritfox July 5th, 2011 2:05 PM

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that EVs are automatically calculated after battles in B/W and the box trick didn't make a difference.

Master Ball Time!

Hey guys, I have a question. I got a Master Ball from Prof. Juniper and I'm currently working on the league. I just wanted to know if I should use my Masterball on Zekrom (I'm using Pokemon White) or should I save it for any other legendary Pokemon's to capture within future progress of the game? I don't know if this would help but here's my Pokemon team for Pokemon White:

Lv. 55 Emboar

Lv. 45 Carracosta

Lv. 45 Unfezant

I know, I know. Only three pokemon with two of them not really high enough for the league. But I made it this far didn't I?

Hopefully whoever reads this can help.

Thanks!

Kenshin5 July 5th, 2011 3:35 PM

Personally I would save it for roaming legendaries, but ultimately it is up for you to decide.

xX13LoneWolf13Xx July 5th, 2011 3:37 PM

Hmm... You're right. thanks for the quick reply! Jut asking witch are the wandering legend's? I haven't got the game until recently.

Pookachu July 5th, 2011 3:38 PM

No, Zekrom's catch rate is pretty high, you'd be better off saving the Master Ball for your roaming Pokemon.

Kenshin5 July 5th, 2011 3:41 PM

As of now it's Tornadus(if your playing Black) and Thundurus(if your playing White). If I remember correctly they roam in the North part of the region during the night and the South part during the day. So it may not be as hard to encounter one over and over as say the Dogs, or [email protected] duo.

Korean Pokemon

Are they allowed to be traded out of Korea in this generation? and if their not would you consider Korean Pokemon to be hacked if obtained by a N/A game?

Im not sure if this is in the right thread....

Nope, it isn't possible to transfer them from 5th gen back to 4th gen.

xX13LoneWolf13Xx July 5th, 2011 4:13 PM

It would be awesome if you could transfer from a 5th to a 4th. But don't you need to beat the league or something first before you can transfer from any generation?

Moving this to quick questions, so that after I've explained you can repost and still be on-topic with the 24 hour thread. :)

Basically, when you enter the Dream World, if you click the left arrow at the bottom, you'll be taken to a garden. You start off with two "rows" where you can plant three berries on each row. As you gain more points, more rows appear, so you move from the option to plant 6 berries, to 9, etc with the maximum being 5 as mentioned, hopefully that clears it up!

If you're unsure what the Dream World is, try checking our stickied FAQ. :3

HeckYeahSeaking July 5th, 2011 6:05 PM

I plan on getting a 5th Gen game on my birthday (soon-ish-ly), I'm just wondering which pokemon you can't get on White (which I'm leaning more toward) and which pokemon you can't get on Black. I'm just asking so I can have a more educated choice and not slap my self in the head when I can't get an awesome looking pokemon.
