Not against the rules to ask, the Black/White FAQ has a great guide on RNGing.

There is a way to do it, but I'm not completely sure how, but do know you need an R4, a micro sd and a t-flash for it, I've had it done before years ago, but forgot the whole process!!

Thunderpunch September 3rd, 2011 9:00 PM

is it possible to do it with just this "NDS backup adaptor plus" I've seen online? so I wouldn't have to get a flash cart and download special software and use FTP programs and all that?

Kay I might as well respond since I have time now.

Go to Striaton, make sure you've gone through the Dreamyard's events and then talk to Professor Fennel in the house on the right. Talk to her and her assistant will give you a pal pad. Then go to the pokemon centre and in the far back in the middle, talk to that lady. She'll tell you that you need a friend code in order to use wifi. Then, once you've clicked through and connected to the wifi connection go to your items list and find key items. In key items you'll see "pal pad". Click on where it says "your friend code". It'll display it there :)

DoozyBots September 4th, 2011 10:02 AM

The NDS Adaptor Plus is exactly what you need. You can backup the .sav file from the retail cartridge and restore the back up to the cartridge if you need to. I have it and have done it, so I know it works. With the NDS Adaptor, you don't need a flash cart. Be aware, however, that it isn't Mac compatible; it works with any number of MS Windows operating systems, but not with Mac.

Yes, it's possible and the chance of receiving one is the same as any other Pokémon.

That's great news. And it saves the WHOLE game, as in, if I lost my white cartridge, I could reload the saved .sav file onto a new retail cartridge and have everything back just as it was?

Yes, that is what it says it will do. If you only care about your Pokémon though, there is a way to back them up for free if you know how to use .pkm files.

I was just wondering if there is an EV checker. Yes, EV, not IV. I remember there being Mr in Gen4, but forget if he is in Unova. The man didn't tell you your Pokemons exact EVs, just if you were maxed out or not.

Sorry about any typos, IM using my mothers Droid.

Since there aren't any ribbons there is no longer the girl who checks EVs and lets you know how well you're doing with an Effort Ribbon unfortunately. However in Opelucid City, there is a girl whose house is to the right of Drayden's house. She will give you a reply on how well you're doing with your EV'd Pokémon as long as it is in the first slot of your team.

Hope this helps!

Did I do a good job picking a flying type

I asked several days ago what was the best flying type to have in my party, and all I got for responses was where every flying type is...

now I have another question, was it a good choice that I made, the flying type I have in my party right now is sigilyph...

is sigilyph a good choice as far as flying type to have in my party?

it seems to do well for me so far...

Weavile05 September 5th, 2011 3:43 PM

Sigilyph is beastly in Sp. Atk, but when you go to teach it fly... it's not particularly good with that. Besides that though, Sigilyph is a good choice. Really they're all pretty good you just need to know what to stay away from. Swanna isn't terrible, but it's probably the worst of the Gen V Flying types. Tranquill is okay once you teach it Fly and Acrobatics, but before that it kinda sucks lol. I'd say the best one is Archeops, you just have to try to keep it above Half HP, which is way harder than it sounds.

cazzler September 5th, 2011 3:49 PM

Its not really that hard to keep Archeops above half HP, its huge attack destroys anyone that dosen't resist it, In my opinion Archeops would be the best choice. Not saying Sigilyph is bad though, its fine.

Hey. When RNG Breeding, if one of the parents is from USA and the other from UK is that classed as international breeding?

xXJumboShrimpXx September 8th, 2011 12:06 AM

Im trying to breed my Male Pichu with Ditto and they man says "they seem to play with other pokemon than each other". I looked around and I found different answers. One said they changed the game so you have to breed Pichu w/ pichu. I just wanted to confirm if this was correct. Thanks in advance.

If I'm not wrong, Pichu is part of the Non-Egg group, as being a "baby", it can't breed with anyone. You need to breed a Pikachu and a Ditto to get another Pichu.

DarkAlucard, you are correct. Pichu could never breed with any other Pokémon since it is in the "Undiscovered" egg group (formerly called the "No-Eggs" Group in Pokémon Stadium 2). The Undiscovered egg group consists of mostly Legendary and Baby Pokémon. Any Pokémon in that group cannot breed at all. Bulbapedia has the full list of all of the Pokémon that are in that egg group in case you wanted to see the rest. If you want to breed your Pichu, you will have to evolve it into Pikachu first.

Garchomp's Move Pool

I got a Garchomp in B/W, His Attack is mainly strong for sure. However, I'd like to know if these moves suit him:

-Crunch
-Fire Fang
-Earthquake
-Dragon Claw

The Combination was xtremely helpful in many Occasion, however, I didn't give him moves for online gameplay. So in General, are these moves any good? They sweep lots of enemies in the Subway, Ghost, Physic, Ice, Steel, Fire, Dragon, Electric and so on....It helped me alot personally...

Actually 3/4 of the moves you have are used on his competitive moveset, lol. :) But anyway, Crunch isn't used because Dark doesn't have the best coverage; I'm pretty sure either Stone Edge, Aqua Tail or Outrage is used for him.

Should I ditch my Emboar for a Chandelure?

I understand that Chandelure is a Sp. Atk beast and has better typing, but I'm not fully convinced that I should ditch my starter for it.

I think it would be worth it, but just think about how you were doing with Emboar? Was it doing well, I've personally never used it, but I have used Chandelure and it well... Owns everything!

Unless you hack it, no. The evolution levels are set in stone, as are what the Pokemon you can breed are.

Hacking, through using Action Replay, etc. They can't be bred and can't be caught at any other levels other than when you encounter them yourself.

Rate my team, pl0x?

I have seven badges, and I'm about to take on the Opelucid Gym.

Level 45 Fraxure
Level 44 Reuniclus
Level 44 Unfezant
Level 44 Seismitoad
Level 43 Emboar (thinking of trading for a Chandelure, should I?)
Level 44 Gigalith

Thanks.

You're better off asking within in-game team help, which is where people will rate your teams for you. Just remember to include a moveset, because without movesets nobody can really make a proper judgement on your team. Plus this thread isn't really for team help, rather just simple questions about what you can and can't do in regards to the games.

Dream World Help

I need to get Dream points faster. Is there a way to do that? And what is the Pokemon limit you can reach, 50?

Jarred0809 September 9th, 2011 6:04 PM

Does the Japanese Ditto method work?

(It's when you get a japanese Ditto on an english game and breed it with your pokémon.) It supposedly increases the chance of a shiny to about 1/1000.

Make sure you participate in everything in each session, like literally don't avoid any Pokemon even if it's useless. You can get at most about 30 or so Pokemon before your time expires, which gives you about 5 minutes of the period afterwards where you can go water your berries, water other people's and plant your own.

Which means at most you can gain pretty much around 500 or so each visit if you use basically every minute. So let's see... in a week, you can get about 3500 points at most, which is pretty good tbh.

Nope, you can catch both it and Thundurus after the 8 badges. Check here for what time of day and where you can catch it.

Tornadus' route changes as you change routes/cities. So keep changing routes/cities until Tornadus gets to an accessible route; don't bother with the eastern routes yet unless you really want to get Tornadus there. The best way to do that is go to a gatehouse (the one leading to Opelucid) and keep entering/exiting it until it rains in Route 9.

xXJumboShrimpXx September 9th, 2011 10:08 PM

Is there a way to figure out how many Ev's my pokemon has? I find it REALLY hard to believe the only way to find out is by counting them as you receive them..

Neil Peart September 9th, 2011 10:23 PM

I don't want to say anyone is wrong about not needing to beat the E4 to get Tornadus, but I've been going back and forth on route 9 for two hours, and the storm is only showing up in the double digit routes starting with route 12, which would mean the day/evening locator on Serebii is off too.

Am I off my rocker here?

It was before I had beat the E4, I was looking for pokemon to help me beat them. I did follow signs but I got to that location as quickly as possible. It took me a day or to but I managed to catch him, a tip IF you still have the masterball USE IT ON HIM! Anyways, whenever he entered the unavailable routes, I went off and trained my team. If Tornadus appears on the same routes at the same time Thundurus does, He should appear around route 2-3 before 9:00 A.M. at least it did for me..

PradaSon September 10th, 2011 5:03 AM

I was wondering who else has encountered the Shiny Prygon-Z with 'OT: Shiro*' in the GTS Negotiations? Is the Pokemon a hack or just Obscenely re-distributed? I got one for myself just out of curiousity haha.

@Misdreavus: What I did to catch Tornadus/Thundurus is to go to the route to the right of Nimbasa and enter and re-enter the tunnel, so you are going from the tunnel to route 16 over-and-over, until the weather changes telling you Thundurus is there.

You'd probably be best off posting in PC's check my Pokemon thread, which is where you can know for sure if it's a hack or not.

DoctorFred September 10th, 2011 5:25 AM

Pradason, iirc shiro* porygon-z's are indeed hacks.

I've caught all the pokemon in my white forest, so i'm trying to get rid of some people so i can get new ones... Does anyone know how to get rid of people in white forest fast?

Oryx September 10th, 2011 5:34 AM

You can't get rid of them 'fast', you just have to not talk to them, and never visit the Forest. If you walk into the Forest they leave slower, and if you talk to them they never leave.

Apparently you can for fighting & everything else but not normal since there is technically no normal HP.

Well, it depends on your Dream Points. Go to the main global link page and where you login, click "profile" on the second tab that area offers, you'll see something saying your current Dream Points. You can't get to the next area, (Windswept Sky) until you reach 2500 points. An easy way to get there is to play the mini-games of every Pokemon you see and your Dream Points will rise rapidly. Then soon you'll be able to access the next area, and so on for the Sparkling Sea (5000). After 7500 and 10000 new Pokemon appear in each area, so it'll take a while but it's worth waiting for. You can also get more points if you visit other people's areas, so in the top corner in front of your house you'll see Dream Pal Map. Click that and travel to the other usernames you see, going to their gardens and watering their berries.

Oh and once you unlock new areas, you can always access them by going to the Island of Dreams as normal. :)

What happened?

Because you need to beat the Elite Four first (yeah I didn't battle Cheren in my three playthroughs at all on my way to e4 other than in route 10), then go to Route 5 where you can speak to him and he says he wants to make a change and decides to hang out in Victory Road to train.

It has to be 6 unfortunately. And they can't know any HM moves.

This is only partially true. While you must choose six Pokémon to participate in the minigame, you aren't required to catch all of the Pokémon. If you only want to transfer say, 4 Pokémon, catch the ones you want in the minigame and let the timer run out. The four you caught will be transfered and the remaining two will not be transfered and remain on the 4th gen game iirc.

That's only if the DW attack is listed in the offspring Pokemon's list of egg moves. For example, Dream World Vulpix has Dark Pulse as its DW attack; you can breed it with a female Zorua so the baby Zorua has Dark Pulse

GTS Hack Checking Help??

Didn't know where this goes, so if it need to be moved, please do so!!
Ok, I want to learn how to GTS hack check, but am having problems, just getting it set up, after I put in the primary DNS #'s it gives me an "invalid" message after I click the save settings button??
Any help will do!!

greg0915 September 14th, 2011 7:17 PM

  • Go to Internet settings in the DS options
  • Change the Primary DNS to this DNS: 088.191.118.153 and Save
  • Go to GTS, deposit the pokemon you want checked and this message should appear saying 13266 (this means the pokemon's data has been sent to this website)
  • Click on the pokemon to find out all the info

~RNC~ September 14th, 2011 7:20 PM

~RNC~ September 14th, 2011 7:44 PM

I've merged it into Quick Questions since your issue isn't solved yet, but just a warning, in your previous thread, Sydian said to post it in the help threads which is what you should've done. Any further questions belong here, kay?

Neil Peart September 14th, 2011 11:19 PM

So I just beat the E4, N and Ghetsis. I've traversed into the post-story, and I'm finding that may of the NPC trainers have Pokemon level 65 and over.

My party is in the 50-56 range, so how in the hell am I supposed to compete with these trainers without grinding on wild Pokemon? If I'm not missing something here to train my Pokemon to a competitive level, then the developers kind of screwed up, considering every guide I have read says my Pokemon should be at least level 56 by this point. What's the deal?

I guess because they want it to be a "challenge" to you, as in, you can get through with your Pokemon at 56 but it'll be a struggle. Your best bet is to train to about 65 (wild Audino grinding, they're at a high level and use Heal Pulse + Simple Beam a lot so you get lots of exp post-game without worrying about whether they'll beat you or not) where you should safely be able to beat most trainers you face.

Where can I find these Audinos, by chance?

Go to any route with grass post-game (for the stronger Audino), run up and down until grass shakes, and boom there's Audino :)

(watch for other rare ones though, like other ones that only appear in the shaking grass too :x)

Neil Peart September 15th, 2011 11:13 AM

Do I have to run in the grass for the shaking parts to appear? Or alongside?

Either will do, I tend to run along side.

Try posting that in the quick trade thread instead :)

This thread is only for simple B/W questions basically.

Hey i've asked this question in CBC quick questions 3 days ago and no answer so i'm reposting it here ^_^

If doing a double battle with a pokemon with the ability Plus and a pokemon with the ability Minus on the same team, will they get the Sp.Atk boost?

Plus: When battling with Plus or Minus, Special Attack becomes 1.5 times greater.

Minus: When battling with Plus or Minus, Special Attack becomes 1.5 times greater.

Yes. Plus now also raises the user's Special Attack stat by 50% when it enters a double or triple battle with a Pokémon that has Plus or Minus.

Have a full team and full PC boxes of 720 Pokemon total. IMO, it's not worth it because you have to spend a lot of money to get the Poke Balls necessary to catch that many Pokemon. You can just catch it and not use it.

Sure! You have to catch enough Pokemon to fill up your boxes and party though, that's 720 Pokemon in your boxes and 6 in your party, then you don't have to catch it. It will wait somewhere else for you post-game.

Good luck!

It is my birthday today. How do I get the email from Pokemon GL or am I supposed to wait a couple of days. I am in need of the Togekiss as I missed out on the Eeveelutions.

In addition to this, the special Togekiss present started this month, giving the ability to receive a Togekiss with Super Luck in the month of your birthday, as set in your Trainer Club account. When it's your birthday month, you'll receive an e-mail regarding it within the system itself in your Trainer Club Account

Ah, mine was Wednesday. What you do is log in. You should see a PM that explains what to do. ;)

On that note, can I reset for this Togekiss? (Or any DW Pokemon in General?)

Should i buy them?

I used to love Pokemon. I remember i was obsessed with everything to do with it. However playing HG and Platinum bores me now. After i got bored, i just seemed to drift away. I want to get back into Pokemon. Do you guys think Black or White could suck me back in?

Personally, I think they could get your interest back. Brand new Pokemon, brand new storyline, brand new region, brand new things overall like seasons, they're awesome! But really, if you want a feel of what the games have to offer, check out our FAQ as well as discussion threads that give you an insight into what other users think about the game. These being things that irritate you, things you like and finally what makes people hate the games--but even though we have lots of negative threads, we still have a lot of people who are positive about the games, as I'm sure you will be if you purchase one or the other. :)

Either way merging into Quick Questions for people to input if they wish since we don't allow threads on "should I get the games or not?"

Weavile05 September 17th, 2011 4:28 AM

My Pansear just learned Acrobatics. The moveset I have on it now is Acrobatics, Flame Burst, Bite, and Work Up. I think I want Flamethrower, Brick Break, Crunch, and Acrobatics, but would it be better to just use Work Up instead of Crunch? I kinda want to evolve it, but I want to be sure about this first.

devilace372 September 17th, 2011 7:42 AM

how do you get all the people into black city? I've added a few people from white forest and i'm wondering if it is possible to get every person into black city so that i can unlock all the items?

I think you need to have people with the opposite game version, visit your Black City through the Entralink. I'm not sure though cause I have Pokémon White, but I think it was that.

The Greek Unova Team Reccomendation thread

Alrighty, in this new playthrough im needing to have some help with a few things.

First: Whats a good all around team (Don't include starters as I will soon be replacing mine)

Second: Good Phsycic type (Solosis isnt reall doin it for me and Im thinkin about askin somebody for a Gothita)

Third: Should i switch my pignite for a litwick, since I just love that awesome chandelerymon.

Fourth: Some help deciding on my elctrick and steel types, Im thinking Galvantula and KlingKlank.

Give me your opinions, in this pokemon community, everyone is my friend, and all of your opinions matter to me. <--- sounded creepy didnt it?

~Ares~

EDIT: This was oddly enough moved here for some reason that I'm unsure of, so it still says thread up there but it seems now its just a post... so i guess im just gonna have to check here rather than have a thread dedicated to my party.

Jeikobu September 17th, 2011 1:21 PM

Can I breed legendaries? Even though they're typically genderless it'd be only logical for them to breed with Metamon ("Ditto") like other genderless Pokemon. (I mean come on, how else would the race survive? ^^; ) Not letting them breed would just be dirty pool. I want to breed a Victini. Can I do this in any way?

Well, you can't just say "these 6 are awesome" because it depends on how they're used. \; I guess a team of your favorites mixed with power would be good.

Gothita isn't much better, IMO. Sigilyph is much better, being quite good with defensive stats and has decent offensive stats. There isn't much choice in the steel-type department this time around, the Ferrothorn is quite good, but terribly slow, Bisharp would be your best bet IMO. Klinklang has an awful movepool. Galvantula is quite the good Pokemon, I'd use it! :)

It was moved because it was suited better for Quick Questions and should be posted in here. :) Just a reminder for next time.

Nope, breeding legends is impossible -- the only exception is Manaphy who can breed with Ditto for Phione, who is otherwise unobtainable.

Jeikobu September 17th, 2011 4:05 PM

That's really cheap. >< Thanks for the info.

Ok, new question just now: I'm trying to get two games, Pokemon Black and White, to connect on the Hi-Link since I want to visit the Black game's Black City in order to make grass patches and water show up in my White game's White Forest. I know these DS's can connect since I just used them to trade Pokemon with each other. Yet, when my characters go to the bridge in Hi-Link, the connection bar is red and even after letting them sit a few minutes, there is no sign of them establishing a connection with each other. I even tried all combinations involving going to different ends of the bridge, but still no success. The only explanation I can think of is in the Black game the character has only just made it to Hiun ("Castellia"?) City for the first time (2 badges), where as in the White I've beaten the story and visited every location, including White Forest. Maybe the Black game character has to visit Black City first?

EDIT: Ok, looks like we can't both be in Hi-Link at the same time. My White guy is in White Forest, and my Black in the Hi-Link. I got through the bridge portal, but there's nothing to do there. I wandered all over and all I can do is talk to the elderly man about missions or go back to my normal world. Plus, I'm worried I may need to have my Black guy in Black City and my White guy in the Hi-Link to make grass appear in my White game's White Forest, but as I said, my Black character is far from unlocking that part of the game. :-/

I didn't get this answered yet.

Well, I went with klink because ive already used bisharp, yeah hes great, and so soon il be looking for a litwick. Sigilyph? I might look into it, but now that i have my compoundeyes galvantula im all set for awhile.

Thanks for the info, and as for the moving of the thread thing, ehh,, dun really care about it. Its not like im gonna die right, just get personally upset when that kinda thing happens. Get used to it, im Ares...

I'd go with Crunch over Work Up, I did with Simipour and it worked great. You'll find that when you get further into the game that using stat boosting moves on such a frail Pokemon can cause problems. If this is for a competitive purpose, I'd scoot on over to the CBC question thread. :)
