Anyone still play R/B/Y?

I new here and am getting back into Pokemon games in general, but what I just want to know is does anyone still play R/B/Y? I play them on ROM's now, but I dont' really know if anyone else plays them in general so does anyone? Thanks.

emperorsenshi March 3rd, 2011 3:31 PM

Every year I take a day off to do a run of Red or Blue.

Meganium March 3rd, 2011 3:40 PM

of course! Alongside G/S/C, I sometimes do a full run on Red (on emulator, that is). It's really fun, and it definetly takes you back. :)

~Darkness~ March 3rd, 2011 9:58 PM

I only do the older ones on roms. But I do go for a playthrough every once in a while

Perriechu March 4th, 2011 12:28 AM

Who doesn't still play should be the question; Anyway, I play it all the time, I have Blue and Yellow on an actual cartridge but it's broke :( So I just ROMS & Emulators ~ There really run and really place the nostalgia glasses back on your noggin'

-Cygnus- March 4th, 2011 12:08 PM

I do quite often... Doing green version on a ROM now. I wish my cartridges all worked, I could complete the dex really easily then. I'll have to pop in R/B into my GBASP to see which one I'm trying to do the dex on. I think a lot of people play them, just not nearly as often as Gen IV... Or V.

XtinaIsMeLuvinWWE March 4th, 2011 12:27 PM

I still play Yellow from time to time :)

IceGod64 March 4th, 2011 3:35 PM

I played through Pokemon Red just recently, actually.

Wrap makes me rage so hard.

Sydian March 5th, 2011 9:46 AM

I still play RBY quite a bit. :) I love the music, the sprites, everything. Plus it's nice to breeze right through them. What kind of metal/color mod would I be if I didn't? XD

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ March 5th, 2011 10:29 AM

Nope, may Blue cart is long since dead, sadly, and I'm not even trying to get the ROM for it...

Yes, I have Leaf Green, but it doesn't quite capture the feel of the originals (not to mention I miss having Slash on Persian go critical every time...)

Pika-power March 5th, 2011 11:40 AM

Online

Actually, you can play some online, but you can't save.

Imperator161 March 5th, 2011 12:50 PM

I play them on emulators fairly frequently, mainly for challenges/other interesting runs these days. I played Red and Yellow a bit last summer to make some teams for Stadium 1 and 2 (which I finally beat after nearly a decade), and they were working fine when I checked them at Christmas, but I don't know if their still working now or not. My Gold, Blue, and Crystal games are dead, but I recently bought some new batteries in hopes of getting them working again (though I think Blue has other, unfixable problems beyond the battery issue). At this point, only Red, Yellow, and Silver still work from the first two generations, but I don't want to put that much more time into the actual cartridges until the batteries die and I have to replace them, as I figure they won't last much longer anyway.

darkpokeball March 6th, 2011 9:34 AM

I have the RED cartridge and a GBA, and I got it recently just to abuse the Mew glitch xD.

Anyways, everyone's saying stuff about their cartridge breaking...how much life does my Pokemon Red have?

Chlobo-Jester March 6th, 2011 2:01 PM

I sure do, I'm currently playing Green at the moment, but it's only a side game for when I have nothing to do.

Raichu1988 March 6th, 2011 2:23 PM

I play Yellow from time to time since I have a cartridge still. XD Blue has been dead forever, but occasionally, I'll play the older games on ROMs, along with G/S/C. I still enjoy them as I did back when but it's been a while since I actually sat down and played them and got into them for hours.

SimJiv March 6th, 2011 2:33 PM

Of course i do play Red and Blue! Red was my very first game - ever. But it disappeared or broke don't know really. Untill 3 years from now (february/march 2008) when i bought a GBA + Red & Crystal from a friend. Have played them both alot (and i mean a lot) since then.

Actually, i captured Tauros and Kangaskhan today which gave me 151 Pokémon for the first time in my life! So now i am going to showe that of to my friends, then start over. Actually, it was long time ago i did that now, have had 149 captured Pokémon for months!

Well, this is the team i used as a kid/youngster. Remember almost all moves thanks to writing them up on notes, walls, toys and so... :)

Charizard
Cut (some has do...)
Slash
Fire Blast
Fire Spin

Kabutops
Slash
Surf
Mega Kick (Could be Punch, but almost sure of kick)
Hydro Pump

Electrode
Thunder
ThunderBolt
Swift
Don't know, probably Explosion or so... :D

Alakazam
Flash
Teleport
Psychic
Psybeam

Articuno (at my first E4 victory, it was a Pidgeot)
Fly
Ice Beam
Blizzard
Probably Peck

Mewtwo (at my first E4 victory, it was a Hitmonlee)
Solarbeam
Strenght
Mist (thougth it was an awesome attack since he learned it so late in the game :DDD)
Psychic

All levels around 85-90. seriosly, even tough they have some weird moves they kicked ass.

Dartht33bagger March 6th, 2011 2:45 PM

I'm playing through red right now. I only play these games and G/S/C, the newer ones are not that fun.

ChunkeeMunkee March 8th, 2011 12:35 AM

I'm currently sat looking at my first ever Pokémon game cart - Blue - which came in the post yesterday!! Can't wait to start my first ever Pokémon adventure... Just waiting for the Game Boy Color that I ordered with it to arrive! :-)

I'm glad that someone made a thread about this. I still play R/B/Y, in fact these 3 Pokémon games are still my favourites. The original 151 Pokémon were the best. I still play R/B/Y, though mostly on Emulator. Thanks for making this thread, i am glad to know that i am not the only one still loving these classics. :)

desbrina March 8th, 2011 2:51 PM

I play mainly the gba ones on my ds but i do occasionally dig out my gbc to play yellow. i can usually complete the main storyline within a few hours

Novia March 8th, 2011 7:12 PM

I still play Pokemon Yellow every once in a while. Not much to do since I've finished my Pokedex but when I'm bored I search for trainers I haven't beaten yet.

vaporeon7 March 8th, 2011 11:58 PM

I do sometimes.

They are good for challenges as they are quick.

Porygon Z March 9th, 2011 5:55 AM

I'm working on a Speed Run on Blue!

Skaterzpenguin March 9th, 2011 9:47 AM

I still play R/B/Y on gba or on my pokemon stadium pack once awhile. Atm i'm playing white and black so yeah... I should start playing Red since I started a new game on March 4th and its just sitting there. lol

Your lucky, starting off with the best games first. A lot of people new to pokemon play the newest game first and then can never go back because they are too used to all of the conveniences that are in the new ones. I'm proud of you :D
