I want a change.
Do you think it's a good thing to change something about yourself, physically, emotionally and/or mentally, for the right reasons? What are those right reasons?
Just something I've been asking myself is all. |
You must be pondering what I'm pondering.
I've been thinking though, how should I change myself in order to satisfy myself? In all ways necessary. To answer your question, I think it's good to change, as long as you did it yourself. Changing for someone usually isn't good. But to my predicament, I haven't came up with my answer just yet. |
I think you should change in things you like. But, I think you should keep your body how it was made.
|
I think wanting to change is natural. After awhile, the same old thing just gets too boring to handle. If it's not going to negatively affect you, why not make the effort to change it up? I'd see it as more help than harm in the long run. Although it really depends on the situation, I suppose...
I don't think I could really elaborate on what the right reasons are, though, simply because it's different for everyone. |
There are times when you should change yourself for the right reasons, i.e. wanting to change your personality for the better because you screwed up in a relationship.
|
Change is good, as long as it's not being done just for the sake of change. If you change yourself because you're not happy with yourself, that's a good enough reason for change no matter how you spin it. :/
Captain Hobo. I strongly disagree. If what you physically are displeases you that much you should be able to change it. But yes, like I said before, change for the sake of change isn't good. Fixing a part of yourself isn't wrong if you hated that about yourself all along, it helps you mentally. |
Change is sometimes a good thing. While progress in terms of technology, growth, and sometimes politics can be good, there are also many times when change could disrupt a peaceful status quo.
|
I have to agree with everyone else, haha. Change is desirable, but it's really only good if it's for you and if it's not just for the sake of doing it. Like, changing to fit in with everyone else is bad, because you're just doing it to change. Physically, mentally, emotionally, it's all the same - change is change. However, if you are planning to try to change yourself, I think you should take the time to thoroughly think of all the consequences: you don't want to get yourself in a situation where you don't want to be because you made a rash decision to change yourself. :(
|
I think it's a good thing to do if your making these changes yourself. If someone is forcing you to change, then I consider it a problem.
And actually, I've changed myself in a few areas recently, and I am pretty content with where I am right now. |
"Months, years -- as time passes, change is inevitable."
While we say that there are some people who just don't seem to change, something changes about them, whether it's their surroundings, how they look, act, so on and so forth. Then there are those who change, who are unaware of the fact that they have done so. Like what many others have said, change can be both a good thing and a bad thing, in multiple ways. First would have to be what I've noticed several people said ( I've just skimmed ), and that if one is to change, they want to change it for himself, and not just because they want to be in a particular group or they're just changing just to change. Changing in a good way is picking out flaws about oneself, and changing it in a good way. Though the way I think about that is more mentally than physically. I for one am not a fan of changing physically, but I'm sure there will be plenty who disagree with me. Sadly, there are many people who change in a bad way (because more juvenile, rebellious, etc etc), but many people do pick out their flaws and change in a good way, which is what I think one should do if they wish to change. |
I would like to increase my intelligence. You can never be smart enough.
Aside from that, I don't think I need any change. |
If you're working out to be healthy and look good, or trying to make yourself more sociable, or more intelligent then sure. Otherwise I probably would want to inquire about what you want to change about yourself to decide whether or not it's a good or bad thing. The reasons why you want to change are important to, wanting to feel better about yourself or even wanting others to think of you in a better way is nice but if it's because somebody else is forcing you to or you feel like you have to do something about yourself for another person, then I think it's unnecessary and you shouldn't follow through with it.

I wish I could be a bit more resistant against stress and a bit more control of my emotions. If I get too stressed out I turn into an animal practically.
|
Change isn't a bad thing, it is just down to the reason why you are changing that aspect about yourself. |
Change is inevitable. Many factors can cause one to undergo change, all ranging from environmental, social, personal and probably a bunch of other bits and pieces. I want to rule the world. I strive to become stronger and stronger as a means to achieve this goal.
The world constantly undergoes change. It is human nature to fear change however. Humans fear that which they do not understand. They are afraid of that which is beyond their control. Despite this, humans change and evolve throughout their lives for one who is stuck in the past, cannot keep pace with the present and will become lost in the future. |
Change might be inevitable, but I'm generally a person who doesn't favor change, be it for good or bad. Once I'm able to adjust my self to a particular environmental setting, and it's many factors, I'll most likely want it to last. The same old things may get tiring after a while, but I find it harder to acquaint myself with something new. Change leaves me feeling despondent when I recall some of my past. Change might be good, for the right reasons. Those right reasons I've yet to figure. I can't tell myself to change, it just happens. I don't give myself any reasons, they're just there. I may be changing without will, or unknowingly, but that's just for the better if I'm able to grasp stability in my surroundings.

I can't really complain about who I am or what I look like, I'm not the most handsome man on the planet and nor am I some hideous ghoul so I'm content with who I am...whiter teeth would be nice*
*Not that my teeth are brown or anything. |
If you want to change for good reasons or want a new style in clothes etc, then I don't see what's the problem, as long as it isn't being forced upon you. I keep in mind just to try and be myself despite others differences that vary from me. Honestly, some things can get quite boring and you want a good change. I mainly taught myself to be me, while growing up. I've never had much support from parents. I don't blame them, okay I may a little, but still it doesn't matter now. Looking at myself now, I think I've done great. May be off-topic but anyways I agree with mainly all other posters, they are correct when it comes to change. (:
|
I wish I had the intelligence and the risk-taking resolve necessary to change the world. Alas, that is not my place.
|
I think as long as you're doing it for yourself, go for it. Never, ever make the mistake of thinking you should change for another person.
For example, I'm on a diet atm purely for me - I'm enjoying my body more now and it's really benefited me in terms of confidence and a genuine feeling of happiness, and I love feeling this way :) So in conclusion, whatever it is I say go for it! :) |
