Title tags! For example, this text: '[title="FC GOES HERE"]Text that you scroll over goes here.[/title]' becomes...

Text that you scroll over goes here. (scroll over it!)

Hope that helps - feel free to say if you need help using them! :)

Ah, you're right, it's not on purpose...

The only way to control whether or not a video autoplays is in the URL of the embed code and PC doesn't take the full URL (I hadn't checked and thought it did); the profile field doesn't give enough characters to autoplay the video even if someone tried it. I think Youtube recently changed its embed code (although it still allows the old one so I don't know why that would break it) so I think the problem would be fixed pretty easily by adapting the plugin to the new format. The problem can't be on Youtube's end because I don't get autoplaying anywhere else on the internet. :/ (And also it doesn't autoplay when you input pretty much the same data into the [youtube] tags so something must've messed up in the plugin instead, I guess. :s)

Thanks I was able to do this. I would like to have that inserted into the photo instead of underneath it. Do you know how to do this?

Copy and paste that into your signature. It'll show your FC when you hover over the image. :]

Is there a way we can update the plugin to reflect the changes on youtube so that it doesn't play?

I imagine it wouldn't be hard. Any admin (which I think is all of them?) with the ability to edit plugins would probably be able to change the base code it draws the HTML from. At worst it's part of themes instead.

The admins are looking into it. Best case scenario, it will be fixed in the coming week or so, but no promises.

Not a question, but a suggestion, and I see no sign of a "quick suggestions" thread....

I think that you really need to either ease off on locking any thread that's bumped after a month OR simply (automatically if possible, I guess) delete any thread with a month or more of inactivity. It makes no sense at all to leave the threads there, then leap out and lock them if and only if somebody dares to post on one.

Personally, I think it makes no sense to lock them at all, but if you're going to insist that nobody be allowed to post on them, then there's really no reason for them to even be here.

Thanks...

Locked threads can still be read over so they're quite useful to still have on display to be accessed once closed. They're great for finding old information, opinions, etc, and just useful to have as resources in general. As for threads being closed after a month of no activity, that rule is generally in place because once past that limit, a thread has reached the end of its discussion and there's no more to be added at the current time. Some sections do this a little differently, but that's the general reason. If you feel like one month is too short or you'd like to propose an alternative to this method, please don't hesitate to make a thread about it in the Feedback section and we'll happily discuss it. :)

Like Ozzy said, they are indeed good for reference, but I'm sure most staff members won't really remember or find it worthwhile to look through all threads that have passed the 30-day mark and lock them to ensure no one posts. It's simply too time-consuming a task. However, I will agree with finding alternatives to locking threads, as some boards do get a bit cluttered with closed topics that can (sometimes) make up almost half of the active topics for that 30-day period. I personally wouldn't mind increasing the limit to a generous two months, though of course I'm only speaking on my own behalf.

Just popping in to say that if this were possible (and that I don't know) it would have to be set up to allow exceptions. Two sections in Fanfiction & Writing (the main board and the Archive) allow bumping of any thread of any age, but the Writer's Lounge does not.

But we can always discuss alternatives, like extending the time limit on what makes a thread "inactive".

I agree regarding the locking of a thread that's been revived. I don't see the point in doing that, which is why I don't, but each mod does things differently and really, there isn't a right or wrong way to handle that.

When I click on "Social Groups" I get this, why am I not allowed to visit? Also is anyone else able to access it?

Meganium July 25th, 2013 7:51 PM

^Social Groups have been closed down since 2011, so the link is inaccessible to anyone. I believe some styles may still have the Social Groups link and they should be directed to an admin so they could remove them.

Hello I want to change my userbar to this:
Code:

How can I do that?

I'm going to assume you mean usertitle going by the code you posted! Unfortunately PokeCommunity doesn't currently accept usertitle change requests. They can only be plain text and edited through your own user control panel, sorry about that. :(

They stopped that years ago, due to server issues. Just hang on, there's always a chance that the guy working on this will find a way to make it work again.

Meganium July 29th, 2013 2:22 PM

If you really want a name change, you're better off making a brand new account since admins cannot change usernames at this time. As droo mentioned, it's being worked on at this time, but there is no word as of when there will be a fix.

You can find hacks by clicking here to go to the Emulation & ROM Hacking forum.

By clicking here, you can go to your User CP and upload or link an image to use as your avatar. 8)

tnfsf11 July 31st, 2013 11:58 AM

Hey y'all, I've posted here before about the closed threads not being deleted, I believe the reply was that these threads should be up for others to see & beware not to imitate.

The problem is that there's just too many of them now, mostly misplaced topics or really noobish questions... And they're usually like this:
-"How do I use ___ emulator?"
-"Where do I get ROM files?"
-"I feel so alone"
-"hiiii im new n i want som pokes trade plsssss!!!11"
-"Hey check out my hack jk it's just an idea"
-"WHY WAS MY POST DELETED???"
And so on........

What I'm trying to say is, leaving these threads is unnecessary.
Some users are breaking the very basic rules of the internet, which include looking at the whole freaking homepage before making a thread to know where to post, forum titles are pretty straight forward with a helpful sub-description & we don't have a zillion ones. Reading the rules thread wouldn't hurt too...
Assuming users are too lazy to do these stuff, can't they read the obvious short notices in each forum? I mean notices like "This is not a place to discuss hacks" or "This forum is for discussing __ & __" which some of them are in Bold or have a big font, IMO these notices are enough & not whole closed threads.

Another good reason why you shouldn't keep these threads is that these threads are like halls of shame; you broke a rule & now I'm gonna close your thread & leave it for everyone to see what a rule-breaker you are... OFC that's not what the mods seek but that's how I see it & I thought you should know.

TL;DR mods, please tell me what you have in mind when you decide to close a thread instead of removing it & replying to the OP in his PMs (other than the reason mentioned in the very first line), or do you need approval from admins before doing so?
I really wanna know that's all.

Sheep August 1st, 2013 7:49 AM

I can see where you're coming from. I'm sure a lot of us leave locked threads so the member that posted it can see why their thread was closed and where to go next time, but in the case of clutter I was considering deleting the thread in my board and then private messaging the member privately to explain instead. We don't need admin permission to do such, no. Sadly there are a lot of misplaced topics here on PC but it's our job to handle them in whatever way we see fit.

If a thread was posted in my board that belonged elsewhere I'd usually move it with a redirect that expires after 24 hours so it wouldn't clutter the page, though I wouldn't be able to if it belonged in a certain thread in another board (such as being unable to move a question about White/Black2 since I don't have the power to merge a thread into Fifth Generation Gaming's quick questions due to not being a moderator there).

I see, I'm certain you do what you can but isn't there a way to like, request to move a thread to a certain section & if its mod approves it is automatically moved?
Also, is there a way I can hide certain threads? Or an option that hides closed and/or locked threads?

Requests are fine. Any mod can move to a separate section, just that they can't do anything more than that (say merge it with another in there), and they probably won't move if they feel the thread already ran its course (e.g. question thread that's already answered), or the other section requires mod approval first. So requesting to them for more than that won't work, although if you ask a super mod or admin then they would be able to do that.

I'm not aware of any way to hide threads (only sections).

You need to change your settings.
Edit Options > Messaging & Notification > Private Messaging > Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default

Select the checkbox.

Hello I have a question.

I'm not sure about something. Is there a specific thread for questions about hacking and such in the emulation/hacking area, or is it just okay to start a thread and ask my questions there?

Thanks in advance.

Astinus August 2nd, 2013 4:28 PM

There's quite a few threads and subforums to help you with hacking. It just depends on what you need help with.

Simple Questions
Script Help
Black/White Emulation Help
Black2/White2 Emulation Help
The tutorial subforum
The Research Subforum

And DrFuji and giradialkia can help point you in the right direction if you ask them.

Kawaii Shoujo Duskull August 2nd, 2013 5:01 PM

Thanks again. :)
I'll go and see if anybody can answer some of my questions there.

If it's been more than 24 hours or so and you've seen Rukario online since your donation, you might want to PM him to double-check that the donation was processed. But in most cases he'll just move your usergroup over as soon as he gets around to it and you need not do anything else. Thanks for the donation, btw. :]

All right, thanks for the information.

To be completely honest, I wouldn't have donated as much if it wasn't for the perks, but If I stay in this site for longer I'll probably donate more. So far this site has been a friendly environment and it was definitely worth donating.

Edit: I've contacted the Site Admin and after couple of PMs we got it sorted out. Thank you all ^_^

I tried looking for it a while back, and I don't think so. Something should be worked out pretty soon I think.

Cirrus August 7th, 2013 8:41 AM

Quick question: Is the embed youtube video in profile thing broken? Because I can't seem to get it to work (again).

EDIT: Never mind, but the example was highly misleading... the youtu.be link didn't work, but the standard long link did.

Sydian August 7th, 2013 8:50 AM

Yeah, Audy fixed it to where you just put in the whole link, not the video ID. Makes it easier, imo.

Aeroblast August 7th, 2013 4:09 PM

I don't know if anybody will like this idea, but would an 18+ section with more lenient rules be a viable idea for this forum? Of course it'll only be view-able to members.

Sydian August 7th, 2013 4:14 PM

We had the T-Dome long ago. Long, long ago. Considering it's been gone so long, that should tell you how well that went over...lol. :( Maybe bring that up in a separate thread, though. That's a bigger discussion than just bringing it up in this one.

Tsutarja August 7th, 2013 4:42 PM

One main concern I see with having an 18+ forum here is that people age-bend all the time on forums, and in reality we could have 13-year-olds (for example) claiming to be 18 or 19 just so they could access the mature forum. If it hasn't been around for a long while, then I definitely agree about it not being brought back.

Like Sydian said, we did have the "T-Dome" quite some time ago....which didn't really work out, haha. As much as I do like the idea, I'm sure it would never gain the traction needed, or widespread approval from the Higher Staff.

My section does house some more adult topics, and I try to be lenient when possible there. There are many users of this website who are adults, who, in my opinion, should be treated as such and trusted.

Yeah, I asked in here because I didn't think it'd really get the approval of other higher staff member and it was more of an outside possibility. This "T-dome" thing... what does "T" even stand for? Teenager?

Livewire August 8th, 2013 7:41 AM

The proverbial "T" in T-Dome stood for thunder, to attest to the stormy nature of the contents within!

How do you edit a poll does a moderator have to do it?

Amore August 12th, 2013 2:51 AM

Okay here's my question: How do I see which of my posts have been liked? Because when I click on the notification it takes me to http://www.pokecommunity.com/usercp.php#likedposts (think the bit after the hashtag is right, it's something like that), where all I can see below my notepad is comments criticising my CSS phase in 2011 xD.

I'm using Google Chrome and the theme "Kanto Dream Party" in case that helps. Although I've previously had this problem using other themes and Safari. I think the only time I was able to see post likes was when I was using Johto Elite.

Nihilego August 12th, 2013 2:55 AM

Huh, that's weird. Do you see

MiniMinun August 16th, 2013 4:12 PM

Hello. Just a quick question: in which thread should I showcase the region I am working on? (It includes the world map and over world routes and towns)

Astinus August 16th, 2013 5:52 PM

I'm not completely sure on an answer, but I can help send you in the correct direction to find a sure answer. If you only have the art to show for your region and want to get opinions on that, send a message to the amazing Alexial who can point you in the correct section of Art & Design.

There is also the Map Showcase & Review thread in Game Development, but that's for individual routes made using the tiles from the Pokemon games. Still, if that's what your region is created with, there might be a good place to go. Otherwise, for art made for other things, head for Art & Design.

MiniMinun August 17th, 2013 5:15 AM

Yes, I did do a few routes and towns with advanced map and I plan on completing my region this way. I was not aware of the Map Showcase thread, though. Thanks a bunch! :)

It's in the rules under the signature section :( if you see anyone with spoilers feel free to report their post and mention it, only way to report it I'm afraid!

As SwiftSign said, users are not allowed to have spoilers in signatures, but it may seem unfair to you because we don't catch everyone's signatures immediately, it just varies by discretion of the staff member. Just report a post and mention the signature in your report and it will get taken care of! ;)

Hello everyone!
I have a quick question: I'll be going to the Gamescom in a few days, and wanted to make a thread to see if anyone else from the forum will be there. In what section should i create the thread? Thanks in advance

That sounds like something for Video Games, but I would contact Miss Doronjo first before creating the thread to see if it's okay to do so.

This pops up whenever I click the chat. Does this happen to anyone else? If so, did letting it run have any repercussions?

It's supposed to do that if this is your first time running it (and any subsequent times after you clear your cookies/cache). It's java's message of running the chat at your own risk, but if you want to, there are alternatives such as mibbit or an IRC client such as mIRC or XChat. There's details about the chat here.

Oh, so it is perfectly safe?

I can't say for sure since it's one of those things I never really use (since I use an IRC client and not the built-in java chat), so I'd say run it at your own risk. But chances are it is safe. ;)

How come certain times when I post, my Information (Post count, gender, location, and join date) don't show up?

Is it random? Could you screenshot when this happens?

Every now and then, I experience similar issues. The problems easily get fixed whenever I clear my cache, though. I don't know if the same will work for you, but it might be worth a shot. ^^

It just happens randomly. Probably 35% of the time.
I'll screenshot it next time, though.

Does it only happen when you're on your mobile device or does it happen while you're on a computer as well.

It happens on both. I just happened to be on Mobile at this time.

Meganium August 22nd, 2013 7:41 AM

Since it happens on both, it might be possible you may have postbit elements disabled. If I recall, postbit elements are disabled by default if you're new. In order to enable them, go to User Control Panel > Edit Options > Scroll down to "Postbit Elements" > Check ALL of the options. Click "save" and you should be able to see them on both mobile and computer.

*maybe* that could work by displaying your info on both devices. Hope that helps. :D

Hey there: I know there are plenty of sections for art, but where would I go to share my music? Thanks.

donavannj August 22nd, 2013 6:05 PM

In General Entertainment, there's a sticky. I think it's called something like "Share Your Creations", or at least has something similar in the title. To my knowledge, that's where you go to share your music.

Hello!

I'm just wondering, I'm hoping to donate some money to PC to get a blog, but I'm not sure about how much.

I know it's $10, but I'm Irish, so does it become €10 or is it still $10?

Thanks in advance!

It's $10 USD, so it depends on how much that is worth in your country.

It's $10. I believe Paypal will only accept payments in dollars, which it converts automatically; $10 is equivalent to €7.49, according to my convertor.

You can upload it in an image-hosting site (like imageshack as the poster above me mentioned, but there's also imgur!), you can obtain the URL of the image for you to use from there.

Greets,

The Emulation & ROM Hacking section is where everything ROM Hacking is. There's a huge Simple Questions thread where you can go on ahead and answer any ROM Hack questions you may have, as well as answer any if you know the answer. Hope that helps!

If I wanted help on a team, which section would I post a topic in? Or would I post something in an already existing topic?

Battle Center is your best friend here, you can either post a thread if you have a complete competitive team where others can give you help and advice. There's also a sticky thread there for questions relating to help for competitive teams, and there's also a sticky thread for help with in-game teams for casual play.

Also, the moderator of that section, Wolflare is happy to answer any questions you have concerning the section itself.

Referrals are confidential and the only way to find out who you've referred is to ask an Administrator. I doubt they would give it to you though, privacy and all that.

Quick question.
Where does everyone find the tiny sprites for Partner Pokemon in clubs and stuff. I can't seem to find them that small.

I suggest you try looking at Bulbapedia, there's sprites that can be easily found there.

You mean like this kind of sprite?

http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/5/50/Ani091MS.png

Bulbapedia has pretty much any sprite you can think of, so do places like Pokecheck, etc. Just run which one you want into google and it should show up.

Pokémon Elite 2000 also has loads of sprites ;) Small and big and items and stuff from different games. Easily accessible in lists.

Manska September 15th, 2013 7:48 AM

Right now every time I try to post or preview something I get redirected to a "security check" page where I have to enter a capatcha and it says some stuff about running a scan with my antivirus (This install of windows being less than a week old and running MSE since it had internet access I HIGHLY doubt it's gotten a virus yet)

What's up with this and how can I stop it? I can see it getting very annoying if I start becoming active on here.

I've never gotten the message about running a scan with my antivirus(or either I haven't noticed getting it) but I get the captcha message all of the time and unfortunately there is really nothing that can be done other than entering the required text. Yes, it is very annoying and there was even this thread made about it recently.
