The Daily Chit-Chat, Chat-Chit, Chit-Chit, Chot-Chut Choot Shoot Chute Thread

Spring and/or Autumn Edition

Welcome back to the seasonal
Daily Chit-Chat! The DCC's been extremely active this year and the annual thread was just getting downright massive. So we restart it every 3 months (It's seasonal) to see how it works out. This is the Spring and/or Fall edition, depending on your Hemisphere.

Rules:

  • This is not a random thread of nonsense. Even though the topic can change wildly, do not blatantly post something completely off-topic, like talking about Math when the current topic is on the weather, or something to that effect. It's quite annoying, you'll get ignored, and I might eat you.

  • Do not come here just to say "Hi, I'm here now, blah blah, What are we talking about?" However, leaving posts are permissible, if you make a substantial post to add with it. Otherwise, it's just spam.

  • Do not ask what the topic is, this is spam. If you can't figure out what the topic is, read back a page. If the topic is winding down or already dead, feel free to change it to something new, but only if the old topic is clearly dead.

  • There is no need to blatantly change the DCC's topic every 5 minutes. If the thread has been dead for roughly a half-hour, then change the topic if you so choose.

  • No name-calling, no flaming, no trolling, don't be offensive/condescending, and don't make the general atmosphere uncomfortable. Everyone, regardless of affiliation, is welcome to post in this thread. Repeat offenses in here will result in an infraction, no exceptions.

That being said, if you have any questions, feel free to PM myself, or any higher staff. Chat away!

インフェルノの津波 March 20th, 2011 9:05 PM

First post? Huh, that's a first. EDIT: WOW LAME PUN.

Let's make it memorable.

Cool. first time being in this thread with little posts. :c

Yuoaman March 20th, 2011 10:00 PM

This page is so naked, it's pretty damned creepy.

Ninja Caterpie March 20th, 2011 10:00 PM

Whoa, new thread ay? Cool. I predict... by next page, we will be in the DCC Cycle.

SO EVERYONE, HOW WAS THE WEATHER TODAY?

インフェルノの津波 March 20th, 2011 10:01 PM

It's doing pretty well, though in Seattle, IT'S DEFINITELY NOT SPRING.

Skip Class March 20th, 2011 11:27 PM

It's dark and cold outside... well seeing as it is like 8:26PM in Autumn

I should agree, but in Olympia/Lacey its been nice today, though allot of rain latley.
Turns out for spring break i'm gonna be baby sitten my lil bros for free

Ice Car March 20th, 2011 11:40 PM

Post on first page get. At least the chat thread here is more strict on non-spamming rules.

インフェルノの津波 March 21st, 2011 12:02 AM

You did? Dear God, how did that work out?

インフェルノの津波 March 21st, 2011 12:20 AM

Damnnnnn. Is PC is nearly as active as it was back then?

インフェルノの津波 March 21st, 2011 12:33 AM

I never would've guessed, then again I'm only here during the evenings in Pacific time.

So...does anyone take showers anymore? Most of my buds take baths, which I find disgusting.

Misheard Whisper March 21st, 2011 1:18 AM

Even I remember when the DCC used to go through a page every couple of minutes. I'd load the page, read the new posts, write a reply, and by the time I'd posted it, there would literally be three or four new posts above mine.

EDIT: Course, that was in peak times, which tended to be the small hours of the morning in my timezone. It wasn't always that fast, but y'know . . . I'd come home from school and there would be twenty or thirty pages from that morning.

They used to be active enough to need restarting aaaaall of the time. Otherwise the threads just got insanely huge.

I DO! I DO! I remember OC having completely insane levels of traffic: you'd leave it for five minutes, come back and the front page would be full of different stories. It was crazy!

Zeffy March 21st, 2011 3:29 AM

I hope this time, DCC would get back its charm. xD

インフェルノの津波 March 21st, 2011 3:32 AM

Are you crazy, I have trouble keeping up in the main threads of OT.

Zeffy March 21st, 2011 3:35 AM

Main threads of OT? You mean TCTI and DLTMS0?

インフェルノの津波 March 21st, 2011 3:47 AM

And the Boys and Girl counting thread.

moments. March 21st, 2011 4:58 AM

I go in phases of even entering OT...

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ March 21st, 2011 5:08 AM

I try to visit OT whenever I can, which isn't as much because now I have to limit my online time:/

Zeffy March 21st, 2011 5:10 AM

I always visit OT. Well, I only post in the H&H thread but meh, at least I go there. xD

moments. March 21st, 2011 5:11 AM

I used to go there quite a bit. Then I got semi bored. I dunno...

Zeffy March 21st, 2011 5:13 AM

When the WOFZ thread got closed, I started to post in TCTI. Then I got bored of even posting there now. I used to be really active in OT. Now...well, I just go there, not post there.

Captain Fabio March 21st, 2011 5:26 AM

Oh, new DCC thread. Interesting! 8D

whispershadows March 21st, 2011 5:32 AM

Yahoo!! I'm so happy that its finally spring here. I swear, Ohio had the weirdest weather this year but now its spring and I'm ready for thunderstorms and lighting. How is everyone today?

インフェルノの津波 March 21st, 2011 5:34 AM

I can't believe how freaking cold the Pacific can get, I lived in NYC and I never remember it being this cold.

Zeffy March 21st, 2011 6:29 AM

Oh, I hope it was cold here too. But no, it has to be summer. Ahh, I should just enjoy my vacation! And maybe lose some weight along the way. :F

whispershadows March 21st, 2011 6:30 AM

How cold is it there? It's 63 degrees in Ohio right now pretty sure its gonna get warmer.

Saryka March 21st, 2011 6:50 AM

Whee, new DCC thread~

It's actually pretty nice up in Canada right now. A little chilly, but I'm sure it'll warm up by the afternoon. I'm so glad it's finally spring, winter's definitely my least favourite season, especially since I live in Canada. XD;

Mr Cat Dog March 21st, 2011 7:05 AM

It's 15 degrees Celsius (aka 60 degrees Fahrenheit for those inclined that way) in London at the moment, which is very nice for a British March.

Although it always feels like Spring comes much earlier than when it's dictated by the vernal equinox... same for all seasons really: it feels weird calling most of December 'Autumn' (yes, Autumn) due to Winter not starting until the 21st of the month. Feels like it's been Spring for a few weeks now!

Yes, it isn't all that bad in Bristol either.

Livewire March 21st, 2011 7:19 AM

March 21st kinda creeped up on me.. I was about to go to bed, before I realized it was the 21st = Spring = New DCC. XD

The weather is almost perfect today. It's 70, but cloudy. :/

Cloudy weather annoys me, because it just feels all humid and horrible! ><

I wouldn't say it rained all the time but there is rain on-and-off all throughout the year. The more northern and western you are, the more likely it is that rain will be more frequent, due to the more mountainous nature of the terrain. In southern cities like London, there's comparatively little rainfall. According to Wikipedia, there's less rainfall in London on average per year than in Rome, Sydney or NYC, which surprised me to no end!

Livewire March 21st, 2011 7:35 AM

I'd love to go to the mother country(England) to sight-see and travel. Lots of History and culture back there. I'm also Irish, so I have to go to Dublin for some Guinness. XD

Pretty much what Mr Cat Dog said.
My hometown is near Manchester in the North West and the weather up there, isn't exactly the greatest. It rains a lot up there, so that is maybe where you get the comment from.

England isn't exactly a haven for the sun, but the south has, normally, better weather.

Sweet Candace March 21st, 2011 7:38 AM

I would love if it was 60-65 degrees all year round. I can't stand the heat/humidity of summer and the bone chilling cold of winter.

Zeffy March 21st, 2011 7:41 AM

...I don't think I know the temperature around this place. Maybe I should though. o3o

In terms of sightseeing, England - and the rest of the UK for that matter - certainly has ample opportunities to do so. Scotland's probably better if you like looking at nice scenery (Wales too), but England has the edge in terms of castles and architecture, simply because there's more of it and a greater variety.

My parents went to Dublin on holiday for their 25th wedding anniversary and took a trip to the Guinness factory. At the end of the tour, they give you a free pint and it's apparently so much nicer there than at anywhere else in the world. My mum - who doesn't even like the stuff and drank out of politeness - was overwhelmed by how much she enjoyed it!

Netto Azure March 21st, 2011 10:11 AM

Poor marathon runners. Running in the rain. And cold. :U

Captain Fabio March 21st, 2011 11:59 AM

Kenshin5 March 21st, 2011 12:19 PM

New DCC, inb4 Weather discussion. OH WAIT...

Captain Fabio March 21st, 2011 12:28 PM

Ahhhhh God damn it.
I didn't even realise we slipped back into this discussion! XD

Meganium March 21st, 2011 12:32 PM

OMG WEATHER TOPIC! >_>

Well, it rained in the morning today. Nice way to start the new season. I hope to get drenched when I get to school on Wednesday when the spring storm comes back. xD

Jack O'Neill March 21st, 2011 12:43 PM

It's been raining on and off for the past few days where I live. A terrible way to start the new season. I hope it stops by the time spring break ends for me next week.

Captain Fabio March 21st, 2011 12:45 PM

NEW TOPIC! XD
Because weather is depressing.

I am cooking fish and chips! Nom nom! :3

Alice March 21st, 2011 12:51 PM

New DCC, and today's the first day of spring! :D

It's been quite awhile since I've had fish and chips... I stopped eating fried foods altogether a few years back. lol

Mr Cat Dog March 21st, 2011 1:05 PM

...wait, what happened to the weather?

I always feel weirdly unpatriotic whenever I say this, but I'm not a fan of fish and chips. If I do get them, they're always covered in grease, and if I ever pick at someone else's plate, I always feel slightly sick afterwards. I'm also not a massive fan of cod/haddock anyway, and battering it up only replaces the fishy taste with that of fat. Still, I had it once last week and it was done surprisingly nicely, so maybe it was just horrible northern chips that put me off for life!

Bloo March 21st, 2011 1:15 PM

How does it snow on the first day of spring? This morning I woke up and it was raining, so I wore a raincoat to get to school. Then it started snowing, then raining, and now it is just cloudy. :| /die weather, die.
FOOD. I ate an hour ago, but I'm still hungry. :( Also, I finally preordered my 3DS yesterday, and I am very excited :-).

AshPikastar March 21st, 2011 1:18 PM

A new Spring Daily Chit Chat? It wasn't raining today not unless I haven't been looking outside today. I didn't go to school today because of me being sick.

Meganium March 21st, 2011 1:19 PM

Food. I love food.

I brought a sandwich, baked cheetos, and strawberries for lunch. I can't wait too eat in an hour or so. ^_^

Gabri March 21st, 2011 1:22 PM

New DCC thread already? M'kay.

It's sunny here. And warmer than it should be.

AshPikastar March 21st, 2011 1:26 PM

I haven't eaten much today. I might go have the last slice of Pizza.

Oh yes, you haven't been around to know of the horror of weather chat in DCC. Every day, the chat turns to weather and the same conversation is said over and over! XD
So we try to move that long rather sharpish.

And how dare you diss my Northern chips. I will have you know that they are lovely, as long as you don't go to some horrible corner where the chips are rather suspect.
There are many beautifully tasting fish and chip shops in the north and I know because I have been to them! :3

Silver March 21st, 2011 1:54 PM

I've always been meaning to try fish and chips, since I have a boat load of english friends. But it's proved difficult to find somewhere in the Midwest that sells authentic fish and chips. XD

Dudeeeeee, you are missing out! XD
I am sure you can find some lovely place that does it.

About 10 meters down the street from where I live, a new fish store has opened. It sells fresh fish as well as being a posh fish and chip takeaway. It is Godly at how nice it is in there. 8D

That sounds delicious. And makes me hungry, but all I have is sub-par college dining hall food. =/

Yesyes, the joys of living in the dorms. All I have is pop and junk food in my room, so if I want actual food, I've gotta go to the dining hall.

Haha. Well, in my first year, I was in non-catered accommodation, living in the center of Bristol. I preferred it a lot more, since I could actually cook for myself and expend on what skills I had, even if they were minuscule. XD

So am I the only one here who lives in Hawaii?

Saryka March 21st, 2011 2:44 PM

Are we talking about food :D? I love food.

Actually, right now I'm eating The Simpsons pasta in tomato sauce from a can. n___n Far too delicious for words. This is pretty much the extent of my cooking; heating things up by stove or microwave. I might make a salad later... out of a bag. I'm not much of a cook at all, haha.

We are indeed! 8D
I love cooking; there is something satisfying about cooking your own food and then fully enjoying it. I love cooking for others too. I live with 2 of my course-mates and we cook for each other regularly.

Uhh. I hate having a cold, but there is an upside. I am currently drinking a flu remedy, hot lemon tea, but I have put a splash of whiskey in it. Lovely! :3

It is 10:48pm where I am living, so it is allowed! XD

Ick. I had a cold a couple of weeks ago that left me in bed for three school days; it certainly wasn't fun. During that time, I drank so much tea, lots of chai and chamomile because I didn't have any lemon. Haha, putting whiskey in it, that's interesting. :P

Whiskey is a good shout. I advise only at night before you go bed, because it can make you sleepy. But it is nice to have and does make you sleep well. As long as you don't put too much in and get drunk! XD

Well, I don't like typical tea, but this is more of a hot, lemon tea thing, that isn't that bad really. I like lemon tea and green tea and that is it really! XD

Saryka March 21st, 2011 4:18 PM

I love tea sooooo much. :D I'm really into Orange Pekoe, Earl Grey, chai, chamomile, peppermint, green tea... you name it. I love to go to the grocery store and buy all sorts of random tea.

Speaking of which, I once had this kind called "chocolatey chai" which was just that - chocolate-flavoured chai tea. It smelled amazing, almost like hot chocolate~

Yesssss. Nick knows where it's at.

I've never liked coffee. :/ I've tried it on multiple occasions but I could never really get into it. Just as well in any case, I don't want to be one of those people that are addicted to it or anything.

I can't say I prefer coffee or tea, neither really appeal to me. Though I did just recently have a tea I was told was named "Chinese Gunpowder" and woahhh, was that caffeinated. xP Not too keen on the taste, but was nice for finishing my Architecture project.

So tl;dr tea is easier to drink than both coffee and hot chocolate for me. ):

I'm so used to caffeine now it doesn't do much to me anymore. :/ I drink ti because it's A, Yummy, and B, classy, and Nick pointed out earlier. XD

I am much the same.
I use to drink so much coke and Dr. Pepper that it just didn't effect me at all. Now I have cut down to hardly having one can a day, so I don't know how it would effect me if I went back to drinking loads! XD

I don't think I need caffeine or energy drinks. I have a natural reserve of energy inside me. ^_^ When that runs out I just take a nap. I love naps. xD

Lol. I can guess from the name of the tea. Would be interesting to know how much of it was caffeinated.

The friend who made it for me might know, I'll try to remember to ask her sometime. But anyways, here's the wikipedia article, might have some info.

Oh my goodness. XD That almost sounds like an energy drink to me, but in tea form.

Haha yeaaa. It was an experience to say the least. Plus I'm pretty sure she made like twice the recommended strength or whatever (I'm not a big tea guy, so I just let her make it.) XD

Saryka March 21st, 2011 5:04 PM

I've never been a fan of energy drinks, I don't drink coffee and I've mostly cut out pop from my diet, so if I'm tired in the mornings I just suck it up haha. D: I'm not a naturally energetic person by any means but I go about my day with whatever energy I have, if any.

All the tea I drink is at night and for the most part it's something decaf like chamomile.

Can't see anything about it and I am too lazy to investigate any further.
I am sure I will find out one day...

Haha, that sounds like me. I'm about ready to curl up with a movie or something and pass out in a few hours. D:

Haha. It is past 1am here, I don't even know why I am still awake.

I will be retiring to bed soon though!

Ah yes, I keep forgetting you're across the pond. :D It's only 8 here, but I've got to be up in 12 hours. =/ Oh well.

Right, I am retiring to bed now, so I will catch you all later. Night all!

I'm beginning my first Elite Four challenge on White. :0

JeXsus™ March 21st, 2011 5:27 PM

Really? What's your Pkmn line up? I did mine yesterday.

Kenshin5 March 21st, 2011 5:31 PM

Have fun with Ghetsis Hydreigon.

Good thing my beastly Braviary took it out with two Crush Claws.

Speaking of drinks, I am addicted to IBC Rootbeer, that stuff is crazy good. And I have never had a whole cup or glass of ice tea or warm tea, I dunno what it is but the taste just does not appeal to me.

Livewire March 21st, 2011 5:32 PM

Serperior, Carracosta, Chandelure, Rufflet, Galvantula, Reuniclus. All level 50. :D

Kenshin5 March 21st, 2011 5:35 PM

You couldn't wait four levels for Braviary? Or you just wanted them all at 50?

JeXsus™ March 21st, 2011 5:35 PM

Awesome. Mines was Ferrothorn, Chandelure, Krookodile, Zeburaika, and my infamous Emboar. All around 60+. ^_^

Flamboyant March 21st, 2011 5:36 PM

Woot good luck :D

Because college took all of my time, I started my game later than anybody else. I just beat Elesa xD

Well, I didn't want to grind at Victory Road that much, and everybody was already 49-50 when I beat Iris. He's got the lucky egg now (and killed Shauntal's Golurk <3) so he'll evolve in no time.

Gilgαmesh March 21st, 2011 5:50 PM

Guys, I have an issue. I want to transfer some items over from my SoulSilver to my Black. Is there really nothing I could do, since Black cannot trade with SS because of past gen?
