Don't learn from the Anime. The Anime is crazy and has rules that are broken. I swear they make it up as they go along!

I have been playing Yu-Gi-Oh since it first came out! It is crazy it has been out for over 10 years. O_o

Did you read the second part of my sentence? The extra complexity with how the legalities of certain cards is structured and imbalance in the price of A-list cards vs others is one of the things that made me disinterested in Yu-Gi-Oh! (and the lack of variety and difficulty in finding competitive events - an issue I have with Pokemon as well, though the flooding of key cards that Nintendo does negates this in Pokemon's TCG - vs. Magic). That and the people I had tried to play it with were sticklers for the ban rules even in casual games and wouldn't let me use Harpie's Feather Duster, Griffon Wing, Change of Heart or Seven Tools. Or all sorts of other fun cards I had/have.

I did! XD
I was just commenting on the Anime anyway! XD
Well, Griffon wing isn't banned, but it is pointless. But they are broken cards. You have to admit! XD

Saryka March 22nd, 2011 9:30 AM

I remember playing Yu-Gi-Oh! in the playground during recess with some of my friends. :'D My card collection wasn't too impressive - I bought the "Yugi's Deck" set and a couple of booster packs. I never won a single game, but it was still fun nevertheless.

Signomi March 22nd, 2011 9:35 AM

I don't think I've ever "duelled" with anybody before despite having a deck of cards handy. Neither have I had a battle with anybody else using our Pokemon cards.

Heck, even back as a kid I knew that if I wanted to play a card game, I'd sooner play poker than what everybody else was into.

alisaie March 22nd, 2011 9:38 AM

I just finished having a Pokemon Trading Card game match with a friend of mine. I don't have a deck and I wanted to learn how to play again, so he lent me his. It was really fun, and it wasn't because I won both matches due to beginners luck. |3;

YuGiOh I haven't played in years and I don't plan on it.

Nick March 22nd, 2011 9:40 AM

Ohhhh, I remember dueling all the time when I was at karate!

I was the second best duelist around that time, and had a deck mainly focused on harpies and warriors. My main card was Harpie Lady Sisters, and that also happened to be my most cherished. I remember pwning a lot of people with it. It was great! Ahhh, the reminiscing of memories.

Signomi March 22nd, 2011 9:42 AM

Are you secretly Mai Valentine in disguise?

It must have been fun duelling, I bet when you take a bit of time just to sort through your deck, you can create some nifty strategies you can use when you challenge somebody. Much like how people do that with competitive Pokemon battling in any game.

Sweet Candace March 22nd, 2011 9:48 AM

When I collected the TCG, I rarely had matches with anyone. Because every kid in my neighborhood is stumped when it comes to rules on how to play, and I didn't want to explain everything to them.

Jack O'Neill March 22nd, 2011 9:57 AM

I never really bothered with Yu-Gi-Oh! to begin with. Magic: the Gathering is my TCG of choice, but it wasn't until recently that I found people to play it with, and I'm way behind the times when it comes to the latest and greatest cards and play mechanics.

As for Digimon, well, it seems like I'm not the only one here who remembers that there was a TCG for that one. Hell, I found my old Digimon cards while I was digging around for my old Magic: the Gathering cards yesterday. I actually remember playing the Digimon TCG back in elementary school, but I'd have to agree with Donny over there that the play style was a bit awkward and that it never really caught on as well as Pokémon did.

Yeah, but, it was a casual game that they were freaking out over those cards.

I had that card. It didn't fit my play style, so I traded it for a couple other cards that fit my play style better, like Summon Skull.

With MTG, the cool thing is that you can probably find a place that does a format that suits your interest.

Pokemon had the advantage of being styled after Magic because Wizards of the Coast had a hand in the early R&D for the game.

YGO is by far the most broken card game I have ever played, there's just insane power creep with each set and flat out broken cards, say Pot of Greed, far far to much card advantage.

I myself prefer to play MtG. Which I feel is a more balanced TCG. Each to their own. I suppose. :D

I know exactly what you mean. It is crazy at times, but I can't not love it. It is the card game that I grew up on and I doubt I will forget it for a while! :3

I agree with you; since the only "good" decks nowadays are more of the fast-paced decks, and drawing abilities...I know when I used to have a Crystal Beast Deck, I had to rely on draw power...ALOT. o3o;

Skip Class March 22nd, 2011 11:10 AM

I used to have this huge box which contained a whole heck of my Pokemon, Digimon, YGO etc. I had about 500 cards for each type of cards. I was quite the collector more than the player to be honest.
Then one day my cousin asked if he could borrow my cards and well he never gave them back.....

CB's are used anymore. ;-;
It is, iirc:
Gravekeepers
Lightsworn
Six Samurai
Blackwing
Nordic Gods

That is all I can remember.

Anyone know/remember the in-game TCG in Digimon World 3? I loved it, probably especially because I'm not into PvP and never was.

Lightsworn and Six Sam are still around? Wow. Did DAD/Zombie's get hit by the banhammer hard then?

Six Sam got a lot of support and new cards in the last pack, or the pack before that, can't remember. Lightsworn are always good.

Zombies are played every now and then. I love them. My deck is Zombiesworn. And you see DAD's still; I just haven't seen any decks around him in a while.

Miss Doronjo March 22nd, 2011 11:24 AM

Yeah; I thought that things like Plaquespreader Zombie were limited so zombies were hit hard? =|

Well, I used the CB deck a couple of years ago when it was still good, so...

All the major TCGs require major draw power in their current formats. Building a truly competitive deck in Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, or Magic requires a fair bit of skill and a fair bit of money.

Pokemon's Tier 1, to the best of my knowledge, consists of:

LuxChomp
Machamp
LuxChamp
Mewtwo
Gyarados
Donphan
And probably a few I am forgetting.

And then Tier 2 decks also run amok, which is where most evolution decks fall, since they're so slow compared to decks that use SP Pokemon.

Correct.
They were hit hard, but they are still very good. There are a lot of ways to bring PZ back though. Zombie Master saves PZ a lot, since you can just bring him back by discarding a card, then syncro.

I have beat a lot of people by doing that! XD

Bloo March 22nd, 2011 2:42 PM

The only card game that I've played was the Pokémon TCG when I was much younger. I still have some of my cards, and it was fun while it lasted, but my school isn't that large, so I couldn't really find anyone to play with, and the people I could find would import like, Shiny Limited Edition cards from Japan, and I could never beat them. Is this where my lack of self-esteem comes from?

Captain Fabio March 22nd, 2011 3:00 PM

I am sure you don't need to have low self-esteem.

I am currently training up Pokemon. God it is annoying at times.

Patience, Fabio. Sooner or later you'll end up with Pokemon stronger than what they are right now. :P

Saryka March 22nd, 2011 3:04 PM

Ack, level-grinding can be so boring. :/ Especially when you've gotten through Victory Road but you're not leveled up enough to face the Elite Four so you're stuck grinding forever in Victory Road. So tedious.
