Urgh, this mailing process is taking forever. >:( At least the hurricane/tropical storm is gone now, so we didn't lose power around here. I should be glued to my email for the next few days.

Alternative August 28th, 2011 7:18 AM

I'm still waiting for my email, but today is Sunday, so it may not come in today. :3 My emails are also being flooded by Tumblr which has nothing to do with Harry Potter, unless you count seeing a lot of Draco Malfoy humor on there.

Jorah August 28th, 2011 8:13 AM

No email on Sundays, just like no post on Sundays, huh? XP I actually learnt "no post on Sunday's" from HP. I just hadn't noticed before...

For the most part, Slytherin is the one that's always had the least amount of members. Even thought they're closer now, I don't think all too much that the amount of members in the houses would play much of a threat against ones with lesser numbers. If you think about it, the way the house functions probably will play more of a threat. To my knowledge, since Pottermore opened, most of the time it was Ravenclaw and Slytherin neck and neck for the lead and that makes sense when you look at the house with both of them being achievement-oriented houses. At the moment, Hufflepuff is in last place, and it's the house with the second largest number of members. Slytherin is the one with the least, and it's only 400 points away from getting the lead again.

Wow, that actually is really interesting. I wonder if JK predicted it would turn out that way. If so..those questions are really good @[email protected]

Still waiting anxiously for my Welcome email. Good to know none came when the power went out.

Tip for spell casting in Pottermore:

Spoiler:
The directions on how to cast a proper spell only state that you use the first letter of the spell in order to cast it, which usually leads you to the second letter - if you hit it right, sometimes it takes you to the third - but it doesn't state that you also have to do that for the other letters as well. The spell goes around the letters on the screen, starting from the first and ending at the last letter of the spell shown on the screen (since the spells don't use all of the letters from the spell to dictate how powerful it is). Your goal is to make it to the end of the incantation. To do this, you'll need to follow the directions shown before you start practising spells and apply them to all the letters. Make sure the circle is at the largest point when you hit the key or click the letter again for maximum spell potency.

I felt this should be somewhere so that people wouldn't sit there wondering why they weren't getting the spells right like I did for two days. x___x

My sister got a welcome email today, but I didn't. Epic rage >:< But it glitched on Ollivander's so she couldn't get her wand and continue XD It's sort of annoying because even I wanted to know what house she'd be in XD

Oh, she got put into Slytherin. If I get into Hufflepuff when she got into Slytherin...how humiliating ;_;

Zeffy August 29th, 2011 9:33 PM

I want to rage rn. OMG JUST GIVE ME MY LETTER ALREADY POTTERMORE!!

Bleh, whatever. But seeing that some of you guys already started playing then it makes me happy....kind of. ;;

Sure, and what about fast-forwarding to October? That might be just the thing to put off my rage.

Need. To. Start. Another. Topic. Might be reminiscing but oh, well.
So do you guys remember the first time when you affiliated yourselves with the HP universe? How was it? What led you to it? I'm eager to know. ;D

I mean, the Harry Potter series is my life after all. :P

RubyJB88 August 30th, 2011 6:59 AM

I can't wait any longer!! At this point I really don't care what House I end up in, or the wand I get. I just want to get in!! [/end rant]

So do you guys remember the first time when you affiliated yourselves with the HP universe? How was it? What led you to it?

Oh yes. Never realized how reading a book again felt so good. Cause before HP, I loathed reading books.

Nick August 30th, 2011 7:05 AM

Re: Sorting: I'm thoroughly convinced that I did something wrong in my sorting. I should be a Gryffindor.

I followed the owl! -- I don't remember how old I was, I just know that my grandparents brought over the first book for Christmas one year when I was really rather young. I want to say it was 1999, but I don't want to be wrong. But for the past few years, my obsession increased. I'd like to say the first time I got obsessed over the world was when the third book came out.

Now I listen to Wizard rock, listen to the podcasts, obsessively reread the books looking for foreshadowing and watch the movies more times than I can count - as if I didn't do that enough as it was. Sometimes I even dress up and go out in public like it. Back in 2006 and 2008 I used to go to a lot of Harry Potter roleplaying forums, but have since stopped doing so. I plan to go to LeakyCon too!

Alternative August 30th, 2011 7:13 AM

You know, there's always been one thing about the third book which I read and I've never really forgotton. It's when Harry's about to go on the Knight Bus and when the conductor asks for his name he mentions he's Neville Longbottom, whereas in the movie, he just says he didn't say what his name was.

Fun fact about that bus: when they filmed the scene the bus was only going at 35-40 miles and all the cars were going twice as slow, and then they sped it up. Pretty cool way to think about it if I say so myself. ^+^

Haha, that's neat!

I remember most of the differences between the movie and book of HP1.

Ron instead of Neville in the Forbidden Forest, crap I forgot the rest...

Cherrim August 30th, 2011 9:25 PM

When I was on vacation once (well, I say vacation but it was just a trip into nowhere-land to visit my extended family), my mom picked up the first three books from the grocery store since she heard they were good. I wasn't excited or anything but once we read the first chapter together, I was absolutely hooked. A week later, by the time we were on the plane home, I was starting the third book and then a few days after that, began the agonizingly long wait for book 4. XD;

I don't remember exactly when that was though. All I know is that it was recent enough that Philosopher's Stone is a paperback... but the other two are hardcover and, I think, first prints. (And PS is early enough that the error on the list of supplies in the Hogwarts letter still has the erroneous second wand listed. :P)

Impo August 30th, 2011 9:47 PM

I remember how I received the first books, playing the game on my uncle's PS1, and how I waited for the final three books. /awesome memory.

The first four books were a gift from my godmother - she revealed them to me when she opened the trunk of her car. Then at my Nonna's house, my Uncle was staying there. He had Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on the PS1 - which was strangely addictive. I currently have the game and am searching eBay for a controller and memory card I need so I can return back one of my favorite childhood games.

I received the fifth book for a birthday present, and was fairly happy. Then through school I ordered the Half-Blood Prince, but to my dismay it came to my possession as a Christmas Special of a different book. I started crying and they helped me replace it. Then Mum bought me the final book when I was at school. It was a nice surprised, and I was distant from all signs of life for the next two days until I finished it.

Tada.

Jorah August 31st, 2011 6:48 AM

Yeah, sort of, it took me a while to get into it though. I got the 3rd book from my uncle, I read a bit of it but didn't get it (since I didn't know what it was about), so I just left it on the shelf. A supply teacher we had once loved HP, and read the first chapter of the first book out to us, but I can't concentrate well when other people read stuff out so I didn't listen. Then the 4th book came out and everyone was saying how huge it was...so I tried to read the 3rd again but still didn't like it. I don't know who gave us the 4th, but I read the first chapter and liked it, so I got the 1st book out from the school library...well...it was the first book I ever loved :D It took me 5 days to read in between school, and that's all I did when I got home. My parents were amazed I was reading so much XD And that's how it began.

RubyJB88 August 31st, 2011 3:35 PM

I remember that, since my copy of the first book was paperback, and the rest were hardcover, I later went on and bought the hardcover copy of PS/SS. Just to keep it consistent. Don't know what happened to the paperback copy though...

Cherrim August 31st, 2011 3:51 PM

I always wanted to go buy a hardcover copy too but could never quite convince myself it was worth it. :'(

Nick August 31st, 2011 8:11 PM

Hardcover is so much better!

You should totally go out and buy the hardcover copies!

Jorah August 31st, 2011 11:17 PM

All of mine are hardcover except PS and CoS. And urgh, the version of PS I have is one of those stupid special shiny ones so its 100 times easier to make creases and shows up 100 times more than usual paperback >_< I didn't even want to buy that one, it was just the only one they had in Asda at the time ;_;

Truality September 1st, 2011 1:14 AM

About that, the copies shipped in Greece at that time were all paperback, so the only hardcover I have are the last two books.

Leaving the April fool's joke aside, would you consider it? Would you dislike it? Would you accept it? Would you like it to be different than the books/movies?
Discuss.

Zeffy September 2nd, 2011 2:52 AM

There's a whole slew of hardcovered HP books in the local book store. I was planning to buy them because I really liked hardcovers. Still saving up for it, though. ):

And as for your question Truality, I would love anything Harry Potter related! But I want it to be English. And with the original trio being the voice actors! Oh my goodness, now I really want one!

Rocket Grunt Cali September 3rd, 2011 1:34 PM

Ooh, pick me! I actually got into the Pottermore Beta site, but I STILL haven't gotten my welcome email so I can't tell anybody anything yet. Sigh.

What house are you in?: I'm Ravenclawesome!
Wand description (Wood, Length, Core): Ebony and unicorn hair, 13-and-a-half inches, good for offensive spells
Sunshine daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid fat rat...: Yellow!

I'd absolutely LOVE a HP anime, that would be so cool! I think it would be a better way of staying true to the books than the movies, since you can fit more into an anime series than a 2-hour film. And we wouldn't have Steve Kloves screwing things up with his worship of Hermione and his hatred of Ron... >.<

Alternative September 3rd, 2011 6:25 PM

Wow, I'm totally unsure on a Harry Potter anime. I don't want that to spoil the show or anything. If one were to be made though it'd have to be executed perfectly or something, so I'd be against it. I'd prefer to see something like a short spin-off to see what's happening in the land of London and magic, like what Harry's been up to, and the life of Hogwarts now, seeing Neville as the Herbology teacher and stuff. :)

That was what I intend to see in the anime too, if it were to happen.

Jorah September 4th, 2011 7:40 AM

I got my Pottermore email earlier :D My overall opinion so far is that it is not as great as everyone seems to be saying, but I do love the extra information so much. I'm glad that I got it before I start college, anyway.

My wand: 10 3/4 inches, beech, unicorn, unbending

And I got sorted into Ravenclaw :DDD I would've been happy with either Slytherin or Ravenclaw, though. Reading through the house description, I really do think I fit as a Ravenclaw now. I do really like the description for my beech wand, too.

Spoiler:
The true match for a beech wand will be, if young, wise beyond his or her years, and if full-grown, rich in understanding and experience. Beech wands perform very weakly for the narrow-minded and intolerant. Such wizards and witches, having obtained a beech wand without having been suitably matched (yet coveting this most desirable, richly hued and highly prized wand wood), have often presented themselves at the homes of learned wandmakers such as myself, demanding to know the reason for their handsome wand’s lack of power. When properly matched, the beech wand is capable of a subtlety and artistry rarely seen in any other wood, hence its lustrous reputation.

Nick September 4th, 2011 2:34 PM

@Jorah: Sooo jealous of your wood.

Harry Potter anime? Absolutely not!
...Not that JK Rowling would ever approve of it to begin with, though.

I have some questions!
a. What is your opinion of people who call themselves fans, but never bothered to read the books?
b. Do you believe that the books and movies are comparable?
c. In what order would you place the books when organized by what you liked the most to what you liked the least?
d. Do you re-(re-)read the series?

Truality September 4th, 2011 2:57 PM

a. Well, they're still fans to me, simple as that. You can be a fan by just watching the movies, what's wrong with it?
b. To a certain extent, yes. However, where the boundaries of literature and cinema's begin, that's where we stop comparing them.
c. Hm, tough question. But here goes: 7/1/5/2/6/3/4
d. Of course. And with the appropriate order, once every summer, when I have the time.

Evanlyn September 4th, 2011 4:45 PM

a. What is your opinion of people who call themselves fans, but never bothered to read the books?
Well, I know they can be a fan without having read the books... cause I know someone like that. But still, the books are better than the movies so they should read them!
b. Do you believe that the books and movies are comparable? Yes... a bit...
c. In what order would you place the books when organized by what you liked the most to what you liked the least? 3,5,1,7,2,6,4
d. Do you re-(re-)read the series? YEAH!!! :D :D

Rocket Grunt Cali September 4th, 2011 5:28 PM

a. What is your opinion of people who call themselves fans, but never bothered to read the books?
Not real fans. Period. If you love Harry Potter so much, why are you only bothering to learn half the story? (My sister is like this and it makes me REALLY angry, I'm sorry)

b. Do you believe that the books and movies are comparable?
Not one bit. The movies cut out SO much (and to a point, it's understandable, but some of it, like the fact that the biggest plotline of PoA, is just ridiculous) that a lot of people who haven't read them can't even follow along.

c. In what order would you place the books when organized by what you liked the most to what you liked the least?
4, 5, 3, 7, 2, 1, 6

d. Do you re-(re-)read the series?
My copies of the first four are falling apart from being read so often, and the other three are getting there XD

Sorry if I offended anyone, by the way. People who call themselves fans OR say they hate something without actually knowing about a majority of it drive me up a wall. And I really can't stand the 3rd, 4th, and 6th movies.

Zeffy September 5th, 2011 4:58 AM

a. What is your opinion of people who call themselves fans, but never bothered to read the books?
They're still fans. Nothing changes that.

b. Do you believe that the books and movies are comparable?
To an extent, yes. But really these are two different canons that has different boundaries.

c. In what order would you place the books when organized by what you liked the most to what you liked the least?
Seven, Five, Three, Four, Two, One

d. Do you re-(re-)read the series?
Everytime I can, yes. :P

Neiko Star September 5th, 2011 5:19 AM

I can't believe I haven't joined this club yet. D: Ever since I watched Deathly Hallows part 2, I've come back to the HP fandom. I really love this series after all. <3

May I join? :3

Jorah September 5th, 2011 6:32 AM

a. What is your opinion of people who call themselves fans, but never bothered to read the books?

Dunno how you can like the films with their huge plot holes, but whatever you like. It just means you have to explain everything to them after the film @[email protected]

b. Do you believe that the books and movies are comparable?

They are comparable. Whether one is better than the other is another question XD The books are better for their more filled out story.

c. In what order would you place the books when organized by what you liked the most to what you liked the least?

I've never really had a favourite, I just like the series as a whole. I suppose my least favourite were the 5th and 6th. Worst parts on the whole were in the 7th book when they were travelling and nothing was happening.

d. Do you re-(re-)read the series?

I used to. I used to keep a count. I have read books 1-4 the most, 5th three or four times, 6th about twice, 7th twice.

They can be fans but they can't be true fans until they read the books. The films just don't come close.
b. Do you believe that the books and movies are comparable?
Not really. Too different.
c. In what order would you place the books when organized by what you liked the most to what you liked the least?
2, 7, 4, 5, 6, 3, 1
d. Do you re-(re-)read the series?
Not yet sadly. But I was going to check them out at the library but the only Sorcerers stone they have is taped together and crap. So I'm going to get them from my uncle.

I normally never re-read books because I have such good comprehension when I read them it's just no fun. I usually know nearly every tiny part and it makes it so I can't read it with any enjoyment at all. But it's been quite a few years since I read them.

Actually I finished Book 6 two years ago from yesterday. I was at a family Reunion and almost done so I read the whole time. :)

Nick September 5th, 2011 10:08 AM

Who's everyone's favorite and least favorite character?

Miss Doronjo September 5th, 2011 10:29 AM

My favourite characters:

Hermione, Luna, Neville, Snape, Hagrid, Harry, and Ron.

My least favorite character?

Dolores Umbridge.
The punishments she gave to the students; her sadism annoyed me. :(

Neiko Star September 5th, 2011 10:43 AM

My favorite characters are probably Harry, Luna, Neville, and Snape. Though I like Ron and Hermione too. And Sirius, maybe? And...gah, I like too many characters, just go with the first four. XD

Rita Skeeter and Umbridge annoy me a lot, but they're supposed to do that, and they got what was coming to them anyway. The character I like least would be...oh, I know. Muriel.

Rocket Grunt Cali September 5th, 2011 11:56 AM

Favorites: Sirius, Lupin, Bellatrix, Lucius, Scabior, Luna, and Tonks

Least favorites: Snape (yes, even after The Prince's Tale), Pettigrew, Hermione, Draco
I actually kind of like Umbridge, but I think A Very Potter Sequel may be to blame for that, lol

Truality September 5th, 2011 1:35 PM

I only favor two characters above others: Dumbledore (avatar) and Hagrid. Pure wisdom and pure heart.

Least favorite? That'd be Lucius Malfoy. He's a cruel, cunning, cowardly, pathetic minion that can't stand up on his own. He only relies on his status to get things through.

Nick September 5th, 2011 3:56 PM

Another question, yayayaya!

When you read the books, after watching the movies, do you picture the trio as Emma, Rupert and Daniel, or do you picture your own "physical" interpretations of them?

Rocket Grunt Cali September 5th, 2011 4:12 PM

I mostly use my own physical interpretations, but my Harry and Hermione are strongly influenced by Darren Criss and Bonnie Gruesen (from A Very Potter Musical and its Sequel, if anyone's seen them on youtube. If not, watch them, they're totally awesome!)

RubyJB88 September 5th, 2011 4:25 PM

Ok, now I am officially antsy of not receiving my Welcome email, now that a majority have gotten theirs. What random setting does that site have?? It better not be my email account sending it all to spam, but I highly doubt that since all Pottermore emails went to my inbox anyway. How much time is left? Doesn't it end September 10th? I've like, 5 days left. :(

a. What is your opinion of people who call themselves fans, but never bothered to read the books?

Basic fans, not the enthusiastic fans that we are. We're at the "pro"/amateur level while they're at the very bottom (of this hierarchy).

b. Do you believe that the books and movies are comparable?

In some ways, yes. Depends on what specific scene you're looking at.

c. In what order would you place the books when organized by what you liked the most to what you liked the least?

I actually had to look at all the book covers just to get an idea. XD 7, 5, 3, 6, 4, 1, 2. Again, this does not mean that the latter four books were my least-favorites, just making that clear.

d. Do you re-(re-)read the series?

Who wouldn't? XP

Who's everyone's favorite and least favorite character?

The trio, Snape, Dumbledore, the Marauders, Gred and Forge, Neville, Luna, the other Heads of Houses, Lucius Malfoy (thanks to Jason Isaacs for the brilliant acting!), yes even Voldemort (to some extent).

I didn't like Slughorn, Bella, rest of the Death Eaters, Cho, Zacharias Smith XD

That's all I can think of, at the moment.

Winneon September 5th, 2011 5:52 PM

Welcome to the club Diamond1304. i've never seen a house like that before. ever

When it comes to favourite/least favourite characters, I can't really answer that since being a big fan and all, it's hard for me to decide.

And when it comes to representations, since I first saw the movie before I started to read the books, I mostly picture the trio and Dumbledore as the actors who portrayed them in the first movie. I don't really care about the other characters as much, they're mostly just blank faced when I imagine about them. xD

And I imagined Voldemort as a snake with a large beak. Yeah, I don't really know what's going on my mind tbqh.

Uuuughhh, that Daniel Radcliffe shadow. u___u
I've identified with mostly all of your replies up until now. :(

Zeffy September 6th, 2011 5:20 AM

Meh, I didn't really like AVPM. Nor any other musicals for that matter. I just..don't. So when you say Darren Criss I always think of Glee.

Nick September 6th, 2011 5:23 AM

I loved AVPM, but when I think of Darren Criss, I think of Glee too. And then, because of that, I immediately classify Darren Criss as a shadow of Daniel Radcliffe. Especially after a tweet he made about (insert whoever played Ron in AVPM) meeting Rupert and how he didn't even get a chance to meet Daniel yet. He just irks me so much, and I really can't pinpoint why because I know he's personally a huge Potterhead.

Neptune Vasilias September 6th, 2011 6:12 AM

I am! I don't log on much anymore, after all the excitement of it died down, though.

Rocket Grunt Cali September 6th, 2011 6:52 AM

I'm a huge musical nerd, and I loved AVPM (not a Glee fan, though, ugh. Lived through high school myself, thank you!). Sorry if I made anyone mad with that D:

I got into Pottermore, but I STILL haven't gotten my welcome email. If it ever comes, though, I'm MoonstoneGalleon55

You mean in terms of beta testing? Or the whole experience?

He meant the former, I guess.

Well there's not much to be done whilst dueling is down. Merely brewing and collecting items. Darn, now Slytherin's in the lead. Ta ta while I brew for my fellow Ravens~ :D

After you get sorted, the novelty of it all sort of disappears. The tidbits of information on the backstory and other information of it is interesting and all, and I get excited when I read them (especially three in particular), but there really isn't that much of it. I highly anticipate the release of the second book part of the site, but until then - like Diamond said - there isn't much to do. It takes less than two hours to work your way to the end of the first book, probably less, and after that it's just there.

Jorah September 7th, 2011 6:01 AM

Yeah, I completely agree. And I don't have the time (or memory o.O) to do potions that take hours long, so after I've found all the items there's no reason to go on. Except from everyone sends out millions of random friend requests. People must search through thousands of comments to add every single person, because I don't get why I'm still getting them o.O

And someone added me who is in the same house, and has the exact same wand as me o______o Except theirs is 1/4 longer...otherwise...weird...there's another me out there.

I'm in Ravenclaw, too :)

Ugh I STILL haven't got my email yet! How long is it supposed to take? Almost everyone has theirs. ;_;

Oh, collecting items is fun for me. Any RPG, including Pokemon, I love collecting items, even if it's pointless (as long as it has a resell value!).

Based on the introduction video JKR did, what do you think so far of the setup she has done? Has it fulfilled your expectations? Could she have done more?

Zeffy September 8th, 2011 3:25 AM

I'm on the same boat as Xyrin here, still haven't got my email. Gah, this makes me so jealous that some of you are already bored of Pottermore! ):

Impo September 8th, 2011 5:00 AM

Haha, I have to say I'm now bored of it.
I have 391 house points, any got anything higher ;) ?

Zeffy September 8th, 2011 5:04 AM

Well hopefully it would get better once it's fully released, that way you won't be that bored with it. :3

mzmingle September 8th, 2011 12:25 PM

another question.
Have any of you seen Chamber of Secrets forum? do you like it? have you found any more Harry potter websites?

RubyJB88 September 8th, 2011 12:45 PM

Hooray! I finally got mine! And thanks to everyone else for spoilering that they're bored with the site. Time to see what surprises are in store for me.

Same with me, I finally got mine earlier today!

I'm at the point where I completed my sorting. Before I get into the details of my wand and what House I'm in, I'm just going to express my opinion on Pottermore thus far. First off, I was excited through the whole process. I waited so long for my e-mail to come and avoided nearly all spoilers, that I was just so relieved to have early access to the site and get to see where I fit into it. I love it when new tidbits of information is available; that's part of the fun. It's great to see the back story of some of the characters and objects, some of which might surprise you. I basically favored everything about wands. Overall it's pretty basic, as you go along chapter by chapter through the first book (only one available so far) you learn new details that were not mentioned in the book as well as information you already know. That's all I've done so far other than have my wand choose me and get sorted. I still have yet to brew any potions and stuff like that.

I think that pretty much covers my thoughts on Pottermore so far though and what I've experienced. Now, onto my wand and my House!

Wand
English Oak, Dragon Heartstring Core, 12 1/2 in, Slightly Springy

I have to say, my core and type of wood reflect on who I am as a person really well. I also love the details on my type of wood. I won't say anything more than that, but when you get there, you'll probably have the same reaction I had when reading up on all the woods.

As for where the sorting hat placed me, that would be Slytherin!!! I answered completely honest, but reflecting back on my questions and my answers, I guess it does fit. The House Welcoming letter was pretty nice and it gave me a different look on the Slytherin House. To be quite honest, I was mostly shocked rather than disappointed when I got my results. I guess I can't say I'm surprised to be placed into Slytherin as I do have some of their attributes, but I really wasn't expecting it. I was too worried about being put into Hufflepuff, haha. The only thing I think the test for sorting should have included were a few personality questions ─ unless you consider your choices a reflection of your personality.

When October comes around, I want to make at least two more accounts to see which house I get placed into again (Maybe one of them will be Gryffindor!), but for right now I'm pretty satisfied at where I am currently. Plus, I have Nick to keep me company. We're roomies (almost twins if you look at it) now!

While I'm at it, perhaps I can update my original entry to match my Pottermore details.

What house are you in?: Slytherin
Wand description (Wood, Length, Core)
: English Oak, 12 1/2 in, Dragon Heartstring Core, Slightly Springy

I will note that after reviewing my questions and answers between the Wand quiz and Sorting, I noticed that I answered very similarly without consciously knowing it. I don't know if it was just me, but it sort of worked out that way on its own.

For example:
Spoiler:
I had a question asking what I would hate to be called by people to which I answered "Ordinary". In my wand quiz, I had a question asking what I take pride in the most about myself, to which I answered "Originality."

And if you want to see screenshots of my test questions from both the wand test and sorting, you can click this link and check them all out. Be warned, if you don't want to be spoiled and rather wait to see it on your own, don't click it! LINK

Nope, the book is yet to open till October. If your thinking of common room chat sites, then yes. I hang out with my fellow Eagles in our Ravenclaw common room of intellectual. XP

Oh my goodness, welcome!!! XD So we'll be in intense competition eh? I hope you didn't collect those items until you were sorted, that way you'll earn points from your house when you return to get them in the early chapters. ;P

I'm a member there. It doesn't interest me at all. I've yet to come across a Harry Potter forum that I have any interest in going to. They all died out in '08.

I noticed some of my answers for the wand quiz tied in with the sorting one, as well. Although, I got a few different questions than those you made screenshots of.

The Half blood Prince. I don't exactly know why but it's the only film that makes me feel uncomfortable when I see it, therefore having watched it only a couple of times. It has nothing to do with interpretation, I went to see the movies because I wanted to see a different approach of the HP universe. Little going to the performances, little going to the scenery and atmosphere, it's just that it felt off to me, compared to the others.

The first movie was the one I was most satisfied with, though. I was a lot younger when I saw it for the first time and it really felt like a GREAT movie, even now, trying to disregard the books, of course.

I'm enjoying it too, dunno what you all mean by it "losing its luster". Sure, the info is what we already knew, but we're obviously going to get more (hence Pottermore). I really had fun with Chapter 5. I'm sure JKR is going to a do lot of that, cause it was very interactive. And it's what the fans want.

GoF. Absolutely terrible.

DH Part 1. Best of the series, I think.

Rocket Grunt Cali September 9th, 2011 8:46 PM

I haven't gotten my welcome email yet either T.T Come on, Pottermore! D:

Which film are you least satisfied with?
WHAT IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY WAS THE POINT OF CUTTING OUT THE MAIN PLOT OF PRISONER OF AZKABAN AND FILLING IT WITH BIRDS GETTING KILLED BY THE WILLOW?! *rages forever* I wasn't overly thrilled with Half Blood Prince, either.

Which film are you most satisfied with?
Both halves of Deathly Hallows- splitting it in two like that was a BRILLIANT move that allowed them to keep most of the things that I was worried about. I only had two things that bothered me out of both movies, when I have a friggin NOVEL on things I hate about each of the others.

Spoiler:
Those two things were that Wormtail survived and that Neville wasn't on fire when he killed Nagini.

Zeffy September 10th, 2011 12:36 AM

Goblet of Fire movie. I was just asdfgjkl with it. The movie could've been better at various ways. ;;

And I was pretty much satisfied with the rest. :3

Sadly, the earlier collectable items I did. I wish I had known this before though!

What is your Pottermore name by the way? I got like five friend requests on the same day I got in, and I didn't know who they were except for two of them. That said, if anyone would like to add me, my name is FireboltAuror159. Just let me know if you do, so I know who you are.

I knew something felt like it was missing before, but it wasn't until I read the comments that I realized, background music would be really nice to have! And I really do hope there's more interaction later on. I've already completed Philosopher's Stone though, so all there's left for me to do now is find any items I might have missed, brew more potions, and if I want practice some spells so I get the hang of it when Dueling is available again.

For people who read the books: What film are you least satisfied with? What film are you most satisfied with?
I'm probably least satisfied with Goblet of Fire. The rest of the movies compared to the books I enjoyed, but the Goblet of Fire could have done more and not change some of the things around. As for which film I'm most satisfied with, that would be Order of the Phoenix, because it is the one movie I favor the most and enjoy watching, and also Deathly Hallows Part II.

Also, in Prisoner of Azkaban, I really wish they had put in the final quidditch match for the cup. It was so intense in the book and so well written, that I couldn't believe the movie didn't include it.

RubyJB88 September 10th, 2011 7:08 PM

I will Sort myself tomorrow, as I feel a bit tired to do it now.

I know right! They should so credit us...

Add me up if you want, I'm AurorGalleon16, Ravenclaw and proud~! ^_^

RubyJB88 September 11th, 2011 1:48 PM

I'm in Gryffindor!!! Oh the Gods agree...no more do I have to say it just for the sake of saying it and no proof...and I'm not gonna make multiple accounts either!

Spoiler:
Although, I'm visibly upset that we got the worst welcome letter. Or is JKR purposely putting Gryffindor in a bad light now? Still doesn't mean that we should get the least amount of information just because it's all the book. I still want to know about the other wizards and witches that lived in these rooms as students. Did they explain the winds surrounding Gryffindor Tower? Still pouting.

EDIT: Why did this post twice?? -_-

Nick September 11th, 2011 1:57 PM

That's why I originally didn't want to be in Gryffindor. The welcome letter is absolutely terrible and wasn't what I would have expected. Just because the books focus on Gryffindor doesn't mean most people truly understand it, the traits, and the characteristics that make up a Gryffindor. Though, Godric Gryffindor wouldn't be mentioned apart from "he's the founder" kind of things. That stuff would go in his own biography page.

Shining Raichu September 11th, 2011 3:35 PM

I've come to the conclusion that Ms. Rowling's people have forgotten all about me and I will have to register when the place opens to the public in October like the commoner casual fans :(

RubyJB88 September 11th, 2011 7:11 PM

Well, it's not the one thing that's gonna turn me down. After all we should always keep in our minds that this is still in beta, so by October we'd be getting our worth in information. I guess JKR did a head start on the others because that needed a lot of focus than Gryffindor for the time being.

But it's not just Dumbledore and Gryffindor on there. There's plenty of wizards and witches that have done good in that House.

Quote:

You're glad not to be in Gryffindor, but shocked to be in Slytherin? :P

Aww, don't worry, you've still got two weeks for it to come in. I know that sounds hard to say when even I was getting frantic and thought that I'd never get mine. Patience is a true virtue!

Nick September 13th, 2011 6:44 AM

My second account got in and I'm convinced that this one is more accurate.

My wand: Holly with Dragon Heartstring, 11 1/2 inches, supple.
I was sorted into Gryffindor.

RubyJB88 September 13th, 2011 6:54 AM

So...which one will you use? Forgot what your other wand was.

Nick September 14th, 2011 6:45 AM

I haven't decided yet. I know I'm going to end up deleting one of them because I only want one account for this. I have too many accounts on too many sites to keep track of if I keep them all. I like my wand a lot more and I like the fact that I was sorted into Gryffindor on this account, but I like the fact that I registered on Day 1 on my first account.

RubyJB88 September 15th, 2011 10:39 AM

I guess people would be lucky that their names are all anonymous, so they'd never be able to connect one account to another and it's the same person.

Zeffy September 17th, 2011 2:54 AM

Ugh, I don't think I'm all up for Pottermore anymore. It was giving me a lot of excitement around the time it was first announced but now, I'm quite bored of it already despite not having experienced it yet. ):

Truality September 17th, 2011 3:01 AM

^ I'm actually not posting on this club much because of Pottermore. I'm waiting until October for that.

So putting that aside, may I initiate a new 'poll' discussion?

What do you think it'd be like if you were part of the Weasley family? Would you like it/not? What would you, as a person, add to the Weasleys?

Jorah September 17th, 2011 5:31 AM

It would be way too crowded @[email protected] And all those brothers...

Zeffy September 17th, 2011 8:13 AM

I would like to be a Weasley, yes! It has been an ever fantasy of mine to be called a Weasley! I do love being in quite a big family, having and especially having twin brothers! Oh god, I've been wishing for a twin sibling ever since the beginning of time!

Cherrim September 17th, 2011 9:27 AM

I would not like being a Weasley. :( I don't think I'd manage as well with a ton of siblings and I... kind of like being upper middle class, thank you. 8D;

(Also I got into Pottermore last week, guys! Couldn't explore it much until yesterday due to no internet but I got into Ravenclaw which was what I figured I would get into. n_n)

Neiko Star September 17th, 2011 6:33 PM

I don't think I'd be able to handle that many siblings. O.o

And...woah. I haven't cried like this for ages. http://sciathan-file.livejournal.com/69180.html This is really one of the best fics I've ever read.

Oh god Hedwig's part. ; A ;

RubyJB88 September 17th, 2011 6:36 PM

I suppose you do get bored of it once you're done exploring the book. I'll keep my patience as long as I can.

Shining Raichu September 19th, 2011 3:47 AM

Still no email from Pottermore - I think I've just totally given up at this point. Oh well, I may not even bother with Pottermore at all - Patchisou linked me to that spoiler blog on MSN anyway so I'll just go on that and find out all the cool things I want to know.

Anyway, I've posted another Potter thread in Culture & Media which you should all check out and reply to! I was going to ask the questions here, but I think it fits better there where more people have access to it because it's about something larger and broader than Harry Potter as well.

Guy September 20th, 2011 10:22 AM

I'm waiting for October to come around and then I'll join again. Since completing The Philospher's Stone, I've rarely came back to do anything else. I mean I could spend the time brewing potions, but I'd like to build House Points for the house I believe I truly belong in; Gryffindor. I tried accepting the fact that I was placed into Slytherin, but I really can't see myself there. I just hope that when I go back I can get a great wand like I got the first time around. Oh, and hopefully I'll be placed into Gryffindor at the same time of course. I may be okay if I were to get Ravenclaw though.

On another note, I'm really upset with the feedback set up. There's so many specific things I'd like to suggest, that their feedback page doesn't help at all.

@ShiningRaichu It took me a few takes to get my answer right in your thread, but I think I got my message across well enough!

Jorah September 20th, 2011 11:23 AM

Yeah, the feedback thing is *really* annoying. I can't remember what I thought of before, but it was stuff like potions glitch sometimes, but not all the time, or being able to reply to comments and the other person gets a notification, and stuff like that.

RubyJB88 September 20th, 2011 12:39 PM

I'm not going to make another account when October rolls by. I'm perfectly happy where I am. I wish I could join my compatriots and start racking up points though.

Stellar September 21st, 2011 4:16 PM

Join?

What house are you in?: Hufflepuff. I don't know what any of the other houses are like on Pottermore, but I absolutely love mine.
Wand description (Wood, Length, Core): Sycamore, 9 3/4" in length, with a dragon heartstring core.
Sunshine daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid fat rat...: Yellow!

Shining Raichu September 22nd, 2011 7:12 AM
