I assume they still are, because if I remember correctly, someone said they'd be sending it till the end of the month. Plus, not everyone who found the Magical Quill has received their Pottermore e-mail yet, so I figure they're still being sent out.

Nick September 23rd, 2011 5:51 AM

"We are nearing the end of September and the culmination of the Beta period that we outlined back in July. We had hoped to send out Welcome emails to all our Beta testers by this stage but, due to the phenomenal amount of activity and interaction taking place on Pottermore over the past few weeks, we have had to balance the number of Beta users against the performance and stability of the site. As a result, we still have Welcome emails to send out. We are hoping to send out the remaining emails over the next few days and we will be updating this blog again on Monday."

Shining Raichu September 23rd, 2011 6:41 AM

Eh, whatever. At this point there's really nothing worth going there early for. Everyone else who is interested enough in Harry Potter to sign up early has already seen it all anyway. The whole point of signing up early was to see things first and share in the excitement with the other hardcore fans - but really, what's the difference if you only get to go in less than a week before the grand opening anyway?

One month ago:
"I GOT INTO POTTERMORE, I'M A SLYTHERIN AND I HAVE A DRAGON HEARTSTRING WAND!"
"WHOA THAT'S AWESOME! I'M A HUFFLEPUFF AND I MADE SOME POTIONS!"
"WOW.."

Today:
"I GOT INTO POTTERMORE, I'M A SLYTHERIN AND I HAVE A DRAGON HEARTSTRING WAND!"
"Cool story bro."

I might as well have just signed up in October lol. I mean, it's noone's fault - technical difficulties happen - it's just disappointing is all.

Bloo September 23rd, 2011 9:00 PM

I didn't have a computer to access Pottermore with when they had given certain people access, so I never got to sign up. Hopefully I will in October, though. Let's hope I check my e-mail quickly (though I'm not sure that they're sending out e-mails).

RubyJB88 September 25th, 2011 6:35 AM

People who are already "exhausted" or "tired" of what they see on Pottermore have very little patience.

I do tend to have very little patience. But you must admit - there's isn't much else to do after potions and the first book.

Not until CoS is released, at least

Guy September 27th, 2011 8:37 AM

I assume everyone who got early access into Pottermore has received their Welcome e-mail? After all, the one millionth Pottermore e-mail was finally delivered.

Impo September 27th, 2011 2:13 PM

Yay, everyone celebrate :D
Everyone should add me, MirrorRose5 :)

Zeffy October 1st, 2011 2:30 AM

I probably have mine already, but I can't be bothered to check. Life is really making me busy these past few days...

Shining Raichu October 9th, 2011 4:24 PM

Yeah I got mine, finally. Waiting so long took a lot of the excitement out of Pottermore though, as did getting sorted into Slytherin against my will.

I'm GoldHeart78, if anybody wants to add me. I'm sure I'll get my enthusiasm back eventually :)

Zeffy October 14th, 2011 7:08 PM

So guys, anything to talk about BESIDES Pottermore? Harry Potter isn't all about Pottermore after all...

Nick October 15th, 2011 6:39 AM

I'm afraid not. Sorry dear!

RubyJB88 October 15th, 2011 7:04 AM

How about that live webchat that happened a few days ago with Tom Felton, Julie Walters, Bonnie Wright, Nat Tena, Oliver Phelps, James Phelps and Warwick Davis on Twitter?

How about a Harry Potter trivia quiz? Or some of my Ravenclaw riddles? XD

Zeffy October 15th, 2011 8:38 PM

Well, have you guys heard of wrock? Or Wizard Rock? God, these songs make me cry. Like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0cQAwSOEv0

MoM? Their songs are pretty good. Not my favorite genre, but sure, I'd listen to them.

Shining Raichu October 26th, 2011 4:41 AM

Go read the link that Andy gave. The whole sentence is a link to a news article, if you didn't notice.

Jorah October 30th, 2011 8:35 AM

The movies 1-8 box set is only £25 on Amazon...And I was going to pick up the last film on the day of release, anyway, and even then its only around £8 on DVD. They're just doing it so they can restock and sell it for £15 continuously, but the HP films don't seem timeless like Disney.

Exzessiva November 13th, 2011 7:41 AM

Hello there~
I would like to join this group please because I absolutely love Harry Potter <33

Name: Exzessiva
What house are you in?: Slytherin
Who killed our parents?: Mad-eye Moody... ;O
Describe your wand: 12¾", walnut with dragon heartstring core !

Are you excited to see the finale movie of Harry Potter? What scenes are you excited the most? Will you be disappointed if those scenes aren't included?

Already watched it and I have no complains tbh. Infact I am sad that the awesomeness is over :(

mzmingle December 3rd, 2011 4:57 AM

I don't want this to die!
and heres an awesome link!

Zeffy December 3rd, 2011 5:39 AM

I'm sorry, I believe this is my fault. ANYWAYS, ONTO MAKING THIS ACTIVE AGAIN!

Between the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters, if you were to join one of them which one would you choose?

I personally would join the order. But I might consider being a Death Eater if I become a double agent! xD

~Ryukaa December 3rd, 2011 6:14 AM

Zeffy is Snape in disguise? o3o

Zeffy December 3rd, 2011 6:41 PM

I might be, but for all you know I am not. >:3

~Ryukaa December 3rd, 2011 7:09 PM

AHAH. I'VE DISCOVERED YOUR SECRET ZEFFY. >D
What are you going to do now? Hurhur.

(Answering that question, I would probably be with the Order. Though, it would be funny being a Death Eater just to hear that priceless Voldy laugh. xDDD;;)

Zeffy December 3rd, 2011 7:17 PM

I'm going to kill you, like how I killed Dumbledore! >:3

/me taps Ryukaa with wand

~Ryukaa December 3rd, 2011 7:27 PM

YOU CAN'T DO THAT ZEFFY, YOU DON'T HAVE ANY GOOD REASON TO. DDD:
/poofs

This club sure is quiet. o3o
Whatever happened to Pottermore? xD;

Zeffy December 3rd, 2011 7:33 PM

Pottermore has gotten boring, I suppose? Last time I played it was October, never played again. xD

~Ryukaa December 3rd, 2011 8:05 PM

Ahh, lol.
I've still yet to try it, actually. I tried checking it out today, but it was conveniently down. o3o
(and still is. xD;)

What does it have, anyway?
They never really said. I mean, a "unique online experience" isn't telling me anything. xDDD;;

mzmingle December 4th, 2011 3:36 AM

Have any of you seen the video i showed you?
On youtube, Potter Puppet Pals has loads of videos, my favourites are:
Draco Puppet
Mysterious Ticking Noise
Wizard Swears.

You should see them, on the last page i gave you a link to them.

(PS, here is a wizard swear: Voldemorts nipple.)

Im not advertising, this isnt my vids, theyre just awesome vids, so id like potter fans to see them lol :D

Nothing special, though unique for HP fans I suppose. It just involves you in the HP universe with events from the first book to the last. I've had enjoyment in using the shop to be quite honest. :3;

I already feel a load of hate comments coming from people because of me saying this but puppets aren't really my thing. I'll try to watch them sometime though!

Lozz December 8th, 2011 4:03 AM

Pottermore was a mega let down for me. In the end, the only things I was really excited about, was being sorted and getting my wand. Otherwise, it was so glitchy. Duels never worked and my potion making glitched, so I couldn't even brew anything. Devastating. haha

I did like my wand. And being sorted into Ravenclaw. OH THE JOY. :3
But yeah, besides from that it's really not that much of a "unique online experience".

hahaha yeah, tell me about it. I kind of knew I'd be sorted into Slytherin though, tbh.
Some friends of mine are making this online thing called myhogwarts. You might have heard of it, it's supposed to make up for how terrible Pottermore is. The only thing is, these people are very disorganised, and half the people organising the site are 14 years old. but it might still be something worthwhile... haha.

it looks pretty promising for me. I shall try it whenever I can!

The only thing that will make up for how terrible Pottermore is, or anything like it really, is cyber reality. Taste the fierce power of my elder wand, biatch. >:3

And you think 14 year olds don't do good jobs? Tsk tsk. Age is just a number, not a measurement or estimation.

I have heard of it, in fact I'm waiting for registration to commence to see how good it is. I knew of it through Ravenclaw connections. Just a "14 year old", am I?

Zeffy December 8th, 2011 5:48 PM

I don't think I'm going to waste any more time getting my hopes up for something that can make me experience the HP world. I've had lot of disappointments due to that. ):

hahaha, I'm glad you've heard of it, and in no way am I downplaying the importance of being 14... I'm actually friends with the 14 year olds in question. It's just that this project is a very large undertaking, and when you are entrusting very young, relatively inexperienced people with important management roles, I think it is fair to expect more than a few speed bumps.

Also - I have a lot of insider experience with working with these people. I'm not sure if you were aware of/part of the Magic Is Might fb campaign that happened in the lead up to DH2? but I was involved with that, with a lot of the same people, and there were a few management issues there as well. :) hopefully myhogwarts works out though! it could be a lot of fun.

I still think certain game developers have a big opportunity for something like this, once JKR allows it (which no doubt she will at one point). They should take notice. It's as big as the Star Wars franchise.

Nah, all we need is patience. Lots of time. Something will happen. I wouldn't call this an epic failure just yet.

Zeffy December 12th, 2011 4:36 AM

I am a fan of turn-based RPG games. If only somehow it could connect...

But nah, I don't suppose much of the HP fans would appreciate a turn-based HP game. ):

I really hope you're right.

Such a successful lore shouldn't end here, now. Personally, I'm hoping for a new book on the lore, which will subsequently lead to more. Or an anime adaptation of the first seven, as previously stated (though that's not as broadly accepted).

Zeffy December 13th, 2011 5:23 AM

EDIT: On another note, Pottermore has dueling back up again! It's time for the world to taste some extreme Ravenclaw wand-powah! AVADA KEDAVRA, ha!! >:3

RubyJB88 December 15th, 2011 7:43 PM

Dueling is back? Cool. *goes to see the new ranks*

Did anyone get a survey invite from Pottermore? I thought that was weird...

Zeffy December 16th, 2011 3:48 AM

I particularly want a book in which details are shown into Harry's adventures as an auror. That should be cool enough for me to wet my pants. xD

Lozz December 16th, 2011 4:20 AM

Meowww... I'm going to start actually using Pottermore again, now that duelling is back up.

"Just because you've got the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn't mean we all have." is my absolute favorite. I really want to get that tattooed somewhere

Jorah December 22nd, 2011 12:24 PM

I've always liked "If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals" since I first read it. I feel like it has truth to it. Oh, and "Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"

Patatas Fritas December 22nd, 2011 1:08 PM

I can't believe I didn't see this earlier!!

What house are you in?: Ravenclaw of course
Wand description (Wood, Length, Core): Ash, 11.3 inches, Unicorn Hair
Sunshine daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid fat rat...:YELLOW!

I may force you all to add me on Pottermore when I go back on it.

Zeffy December 22nd, 2011 6:34 PM

OMG NEW MEMBERS! Been a while since we had one! And haha, look at that list of Ravenclaw people.

As for CJ's post, my favourite would probably be "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good" and "Mischief managed!". So much awesomeness in 12 words! x3

EDIT: OH and how can I forget about Molly's line. You might've heard of it, it was heard on the chapter Battle of Hogwarts, iirc. If not then you should re-read the book/re-watch the final movie! The final movie has been released on DVD btw, you should all get one before they pull it out of the shelves.

Codj December 23rd, 2011 4:46 PM

Oh! A Harry Potter Fan Club! Sign me up!

What house are you in?: Hufflepuff. Cause I'm cool like that. :D
Wand description (Wood, Length, Core): Holly, 12", Dragon's Heartstring
Sunshine daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid fat rat...: Yellow!

Zeffy December 25th, 2011 6:10 PM

Welcome to the club!

I remembered another line that I personally like; it was in the EPILOGUE OF DOOM!!! xD
"Albus Severus, you were named after two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin, and he was the bravest man I ever knew." *cue MoM's The Bravest Man I Ever Knew song*

That was a powerful quote the first time I read it.

So what made the epilogue be hated by everyone? Or is it that many fans of a particular series don't like epilogues? I remember the LoTR one in the end that many disliked.

Zeffy December 30th, 2011 7:37 PM

I like the epilogue, tbqh. Though it leaves me with the feeling of wanting more. xD;

Jorah January 1st, 2012 1:22 AM

When I first read it when the book came out, I hated the epilogue because I thought it was too good to be true that they all managed to stay together in couples by how many years later. XD Too idealistic, I thought. But when I reread it for the film, I found it cute.

moon January 15th, 2012 4:33 AM

Yeah, Gryffindor and... all the other houses... get too much love :p

I was on a party with a HP theme some month ago actually, and we got sorted by a hat (with a walkie talkie in it lol) to know what table we would sit at. I was Hufflepuff xD The other tables cheered and pretended to be evil/brave/smart but us Hufflepuffs couldn't really do anything hahaha. I guess in some books the sorting hat calls Hufflepuff the house of the just, hard-working and loyal though. That's something ^^ although it's so not me haha

This is still awesome though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0Z5_wipT2o

RubyJB88 January 15th, 2012 6:01 PM

Ravenclaw doesn't get enough love as the other two do. And I'm not even of Ravenclaw...

Argenta January 18th, 2012 2:42 PM

i want to join you guys here, can i?

Zeffy January 21st, 2012 1:17 AM

of course you can join! what house do you belong, Riko?

We should have a war of the houses thing. Or perhaps we should start actually doing something on Pottermore.

Katniss Everdeen January 29th, 2012 6:12 PM

What house are you in?: Ravenclaw
Wand description (Wood, Length, Core): Holly Wand, 8 1/2 inches, Hippogriff bone core
Sunshine daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid fat rat...: Yellow!

:]

Zeffy February 3rd, 2012 2:25 AM

So many members, so lame activity. Ah well, I suppose when something big happens to Pottermore people will start to talk about that here? Ah diggity, I hope that time comes quickly!

As for now, I'll bring back the old "what's your favourite book" topic for the sake of activity. We can save this club's activity guys, let's go!

What's your favourite part of the trip book in the series?

Evanlyn February 3rd, 2012 4:26 AM

Prisoner Of Azkaban :)

Spoiler:
Cause Harry finds out about Sirius Black, his godfather, so he does find a family (even though Sirius does die 2 books later) Also I find it interesting that it's the only book without Voldemort in it.

lol, did anyone hear the Daniel Radcliffe said he was drunk during some of the filming of HP? Some people think this one could be one of those scenes XD I wonder what others.

RubyJB88 February 4th, 2012 9:03 AM

What happened to Pottermore?! That site when silent way before Christmas! Is it going out of beta or what? Please don't tell me this was all vaporware...

Shining Raichu February 6th, 2012 4:07 PM

I haven't been on Pottermore for months. The second I was sorted into Slytherin I kinda lost interest lol.

Old news to me. I heard about that months ago.

I honestly feel like Pottermore's worth has expired. It's been in beta for months now, and the majority of the people who are included in the beta have completely forgotten about the site. Because of how long it's been since the beta period began, the lack of new material being produced, I don't really see success that was once planned happening.

The only thing people will be interested in is getting sorted and getting their wand. The people who genuinely care about the new material are ones that already got in, and I think they'd visit when new material gets released, but apart from that, they won't.

RubyJB88 February 7th, 2012 5:39 PM

I can't believe it. This is so sad. If franchises like Star Wars can proliferate the way they do, why can't HP? :(

...Newspapers only reported it a few days ago...o_o

Shining Raichu February 8th, 2012 2:05 PM

I maintain their success would have been much greater if they hadn't been so fast and loose with the Slytherin sortings which no matter what anybody says are highly insulting!

Zeffy February 10th, 2012 3:55 AM

To be honest, my interest with Pottermore kinda went away when December came--which is to say, it got boring. It's not really that interesting when you come to think of it, one of the few things you look forward to are the sorting and getting your wand. But besides that, :x.

Lozz February 19th, 2012 4:24 AM

Pottermore doesn't have enough interactive stuff to maintain interest - you can't even talk to people on it. Also, beta mode is full of so many bugs! i first got onto it back in august, and about 2 days in, my potion making glitched and I haven't touched it since.

And yes, andy, I agree- way too many dbags are getting into slytherin!

A few of my friends in america have started a site called myhogwarts, I'm not sure how well it will work, because a lot of them are a little lax around the edges when it comes to running hugely popular fan sites, but it seems to be generating a fair bit of interest.

Shining Raichu February 21st, 2012 2:13 AM

I'm not a d-bag, Lozz! I resent this implication! I am just a Slytherin that was misplaced, that's all!

Phantom February 21st, 2012 2:41 AM

They went Slytherin and Hufflepuff happy. I was one of the lucky few to make it into Gryffindor. Then I forgot my login info and tried to have it emailed to me, and for some reason it never sends, makes me want to unforgivable curse their.... never mind.

Oh and joining.
'
Also funny story, during the part 2 premiere we had trouble getting into a theater, so me and my friend walked into different theaters and tried to find five seats in a row, which was harder than it sounds. While we were leaving this one, a girl starts a cheer to get people excited for the movie. (note at this point it was almost midnight) She started screaming, "I say 'Harry' you say 'Potter'! Harry!" then the crowd responded, they did this twice, then during the silence inbetween a Harry and a Potter I screamed as loud as I could "SNAPE!"

I got a good laugh, but a few people threw popcorn at me as I literally sprinted past, I think someone sprayed pop at me. lol.

Also before the movie I went to the restroom, and I walked by the handicap stall, then did a double take when I saw someone had written in a large marker "MINISTRY EMERGENCY ENTRANCE" with an arrow pointing to the toilet. I took a pic. :P

SHOW US THIS PIC THAT SOUNDS AWESOME.

Also, I have a question. Does the fact that Pottermore has additional content mean that JK is no longer planning to write that encyclopedia she promised? Because to be honest, I would have rathered that. It's real and tactile and you can keep it... it isn't online. I never really asked for an online experience, I'd rather receive my additional content the same way I received the original content: by page.

Hikamaru February 23rd, 2012 6:01 AM

(CBS/AP) NEW YORK - J.K. Rowling is set to work her magic on readers once again.

The author of the hit "Harry Potter" series has inked a deal with Little, Brown in the United States and Britain to publish her first novels for adults. The title, release date and details about the long-rumored novel were not announced Thursday.

Rowling said in a statement: "Although I've enjoyed writing it every bit as much, my next book will be very different to the 'Harry Potter' series, which has been published so brilliantly by Bloomsbury and my other publishers around the world. The freedom to explore new territory is a gift that Harry's success has brought me, and with that new territory it seemed a logical progression to have a new publisher. I am delighted to have a second publishing home in Little, Brown, and a publishing team that will be a great partner in this new phase of my writing life."

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," the seventh and final story in the "Potter" series, came out in 2007. The last of eight "Harry Potter" films was released last summer.

Rowling's "Harry Potter" books were published by Bloomsbury in Britain and Scholastic in the U.S.

Interesting news. I wonder what this new novel will be about!

moon March 19th, 2012 5:05 AM

Anyone heard more about it yet and have some news to share?

Cherrim March 19th, 2012 8:04 PM

Nope, nothing has been shared since the initial announcement that it was coming. I'm pretty sure we'll hear more before the year is out, though.

:> In other news, Pottermore is apparently (finally!) going public in April!

Also I went to Wizarding World last month and ommgggg it was so fun. <3
