What about that "Making of Harry Potter" tour in London? I see loads of adverts for it here now. £28 a ticket would...not be so bad if there weren't train and bus tickets to think of as well >_> Transport is too expensive in this country. And that programme about the Tube has put me off using their underground system XD Still be cool, though...

RubyJB88 March 27th, 2012 3:02 PM

Next month huh? I guess today's announcement on Pottermore that all seven books available in e-book format may start the celebrations early.

mzmingle April 4th, 2012 4:41 AM

I'm going to the Making of Harry potter!
And maybe (but not likely) I may meet actors there? I don't know.

Cool! Tell us how it goes. I'll probably go by coach sometime. I don't think actors will be there, though; they might've been for the opening.

Shining Raichu April 5th, 2012 8:46 AM

You know that screeching cat sound they played in the last movie when Harry, Ron and Hermione apparated into Hogsmeade and tripped the magical alarm?

I'm lying in bed right now and that exact noise is happening outside. I think some stuff is about to go down. I'll keep you all posted.

Zeffy April 6th, 2012 7:31 PM

Dangit Andy you made me watch the entire movie again. ;~;

Boohoo, these tours and such. I can't go to them! I don't think I will ever be, too! ):

Shining Raichu April 6th, 2012 7:50 PM

It wasn't anything note-worthy, since I heard no magic and saw no Dark Marks :(

It was probably just cats fighting... but I swear it was exactly like it; the rhythm and everything! Very weird experience when you're half asleep at 2:45 AM :P

Cherrim April 15th, 2012 2:08 PM

News!

1) Rowling announced the title of her next book: "A Casual Vacancy". It's not HP related but it's due out by the end of the year. Yay!

2) Pottermore is now open to public. :D For anyone signing up now, add me and let me know who you are! My username's RiverDust150.

Shining Raichu April 15th, 2012 4:12 PM

I heard about that new book! I will be queuing to be the first to get it; I don't care what it is or what it's about lol. The title does sound intriguing, even independently of its association with JK, so I'm psyched!

And as for Pottermore, ehhh. I might get back into that at some point but it's not all it should be. I'll come back on when they release Book 2.

Cherrim April 15th, 2012 4:22 PM

I actually think the book sounds really boring. I'll get it and I'll definitely read it but it's not top of my list, nor am I dying for its release. :P

Shining Raichu April 15th, 2012 4:27 PM

Well I'm the kind of guy that, if JK Rowling gave a press release stating "I like biscuits", I would jump up and down screaming because I like biscuits too and that brings us closer together!

There's nothing she can say or write that I will not be interested in. I would be enthralled by a textbook she wrote about dirt XD

Cherrim April 15th, 2012 5:26 PM

B-but she's really only ever written the HP series. What if she's absolute rubbish at non-fantasy? XD

I mean, I'm sure it'll be brilliant, but since the plot isn't instantly intriguing for me, I'm not spazzing out. :P

Shining Raichu April 15th, 2012 8:00 PM

Is there anything revealed about the plot? I've heard literally only that which you've told me haha. What is it about?

Cherrim April 15th, 2012 8:03 PM

Spoiler:
When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty facade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils…Pagford is not what it first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?

That's what's been posted on the publisher's website, anyway.

Shining Raichu April 16th, 2012 3:50 AM

See to me, that sounds absolutely fascinating. It sounds like a small-town English version of The Good Wife and I am practically jizzing myself waiting for it now haha. It sounds like something I would either read or watch, so (while I realise I'm jumping the gun massively here) I hope it gets made into a movie!

Though one thing I think is that she should have chosen to name her protagonist something that doesn't rhyme with "Harry" lmao.

Jorah April 16th, 2012 8:21 AM

That does sound quite interesting. I'll probably read the book :D "Barry Fairwhether" sounds like a very odd name though XD

She has written articles for newspapers before. I remember one for The Times where she was writing about how hard it is for single mothers. Of course, your usual Times reader is not going to appreciate this...

Tell me, Harry Potter club... have any of you ever done this? XD

Lozz May 1st, 2012 7:48 PM

Happy 14 years since the final battle! hahahahahaaa

Shining Raichu May 1st, 2012 8:25 PM

Was it written somewhere that that happened on May 2nd? I can't seem to remember that! I could only bring myself to read the seventh book once because it was too painful lol

Lozz May 1st, 2012 8:51 PM

Yes!! It happened May 2nd! hahaha goshhh andy! you should re-read it- and not be pained!

Shining Raichu May 1st, 2012 8:57 PM

But all the deaths and the crying, I can't! Hedwig and Fred and Tonks and Lupin and Colin Creevey and... I CAN'T READ THAT AGAIN. Not until I'm more emotionally mature!

Lozz May 1st, 2012 9:03 PM

I have read it so many times! And I cry every time!! aaaaand sometimes the DH audiobook puts me to sleep at night! ha ha ha

Sakura Rain May 1st, 2012 11:38 PM

Wanna join. Like right now, please. I think there's been a few of these, lol

What house are you in?: Hufflepuff, of course.
Wand description (Wood, Length, Core):Rowan, 8 3/4 inches, phoenix feather core lol original
Sunshine daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid fat rat...: DEAD. I don't want him to turn yellow, I want him to turn dead. THIS IS NOT UP FOR NEGOTIATION.

um I think it is physically impossible to read Deathly Hallows without crying. It is also physically impossible to read the last few chapters of OoTP without crying. For me, at least.

Cherrim May 2nd, 2012 6:18 PM

Yeah, I still sob for an hour every time I read/listen to DH. :( I mean, I cry at everything so it's not really that big a deal but I still think it's normal to cry.

But yeah, it was May 2nd that the final battle took place. I don't think it says in the books but sometime, Rowling must have released a timeline with exact dates because they've been around in an official capacity for a while, I think.

Shining Raichu May 2nd, 2012 6:46 PM

Welcome Sakura Rain!

When Dumbledore died I was crying so hard I had to stop reading and watch four back-to-back episodes of Frasier just to calm myself down, and even then I couldn't start reading again until the next day because I couldn't bring myself to pick the book back up. I'm glad I did wait now, because holy crap the funeral and the other stuff leading up to it were sadder than the fact he was dead!

So yeah, you can imagine what kind of a basket case I was through Deathly Hallows :P
