Name: Ryuu Akuma
Gender: Male Age: 18 Species: Demon Appearance: Ryuu Akuma stands at 6 feet 5 inches tall. He is of a rather large build and large stature, but is extremely fit. He has black piercing eyes and dark brown hair. He typically wears a dark blue or sometimes black shirt with the same color pants, and a dark blue or black coat reaching down to his ankles. Ryuu's clothes appear as though they were once worn by nobility, as they were of fine quality, but he has worn them down from his strenuous work-outs and fighting to a more barren, half-noble half-mercenary appeal. Personality: Ryuu Akuma has earned a reputation for being quite possibly the more ruthless person alive. He shows no mercy to opponents, and looks upon others as lower beings, especially humans. He has absolute disgust for them. He also views angels as lesser beings, not worthy of power and although vampires usually get along with demons, Ryuu tends to find them somewhat unworthy, yet he still views them in a bit higher appeal than angels, and certainly than humans. Ryuu has taken pride in his given nickname, "The Rhino" because of his merciless efficiency, especially in a fight. If gotten into one, Ryuu Akuma would typically not stop for almost anything, usually fighting until his opponent is either incapable of fighting back or dead. His imposing stature usually gives him the appearance and demeanor of a brute, to which Ryuu is perfectly fine with. History: Not needed, since you can hint your history through flashbacks or something. Element: Earth RP Sample:The Pokemon Odyssey [PG-16] Kent looked around at the Alpha Alliance troops in the building. He looked at their dismayed faces. The younger Pokemon still carried the smiles of the raw recruits. The older ones were weary and scared. And for good reason, Kent thought. All kinds of rumors were going around about the Order of Neoverse possibly attacking Eternity City. If this stronghold falls, all that would separate Capital City, the main stronghold of the Alpha Alliance, from the Order of Neoverse would be countryside and a few minor towns. Kent knew that the Alpha Alliance couldn't do it on its own. They needed the Gold Tribe. Kent had to know what really was going on, and sources say General Manchu had the answers. "Give it to me straight, General. I've heard all kinds of rumors of possible attacks by the Order. Are they true? What are we dealing with?" Kent spoke in almost whisper to avoid having the other Pokemon hear them speak. Manchu replied, "Do you remember Albia?" Kent's heart sank. He remembered Albia. Albia was one of the first major cities to fall to the Order a few months ago. The army that attacked it was the largest ever seen by the Alpha Alliance. Ever. Its numbers were beyond huge. Manchu continued. "The force that will attack Eternity City is twice that size. They will be here by the end of the week." Kent paused and looked at him. Thankfully, the other soldiers didn't hear them talk because they spoke softly to each other, because if they did, it would be a matter of minutes before the entire city would be in a complete meltdown. "I've begun arrangements to begin evacuating parts of the city in a few days, but realistically speaking, there is no possible way to evacuate the entire city before they arrive. Our only hope would be for us to hold the city." He paused, then added, "You will have a few more days to find any new recruits to the Gold Tribe." Kent felt a sickening feeling in the pit of his stomach. There was a storm coming. No, it was more like a natural disaster. If General Manchu's information is accurate, the Alpha Alliance will soon be in the largest battle its ever seen. |

Name: Xavier Harrah
Gender: Male Age: 17 Species: Demon Personality: Xavier is the reserved type, not usually interacting with other people and keeping quiet. Due to not much interaction he has become very observant of environments, people, etc. His father being a scientist and his observance has caused him to become an excellent strategist. He loves his mother very much and will usually try to help around the house, when father is away. He absolutely hates people (Any Species) who are loud and most things that are loud. They give him a headache.Although his father has been teaching him survival skills as he was going to be in the drawings soon. He can't really talk to people, unless that person is family. Although he view his father more as a scientist instead as a father. This is because all conversations between him and his father were about science. Whenever Xavier would ask him about something personal his father would avoid it and lead to yet another science discussion. And that most of his knowledge came from his father. Appearance: Xavier stands roughly 6,0 matching the muscle for the size. He sports a minor six pack. He has deep brown hair and eyes. His mother likes to compare the color to that of chocolate. His hair is shaggy and falls just over his eyes. His eyes are very sharp, but calm as well if you can catch a glimpse of them. He has a small scar on his left shoulder. It has healed mostly, but if you look closely you can see it. The normal attire for Xavier is a black T-shirt with the symbol of Omega on his right shoulder. He wears a pair of black pants to match the shirt. As far as winter wear goes he wears a zipper Heavy coat which is silver with a pokeball symbol on the chest. He wears white winter pants with self insulation and is a tad big on him. And again sports a pair of black gloves with wrist cuffs to keep snow out. And has a pair of insulated boots which have small spikes on the end to climb and hike if the chance comes. History: What You Said! Elemet: Void RP Sample: Taken From Id Est Damnum Peaceful. The one word that could describe this realm. Unlike yesterday where Xavier awoke to noise, he woke up to a solemn silence. A gentle wisp flew through the air causing nearby trees to slightly sway. The forest he was in was close by and only had a few pokemon awaking with cheerful chirps. Near Xavier was a small fire made from a few sticks and logs which Omega had started to heat his master. Said pokemon nodded at his now awake master with a small smile. Xavier could only nod back and fell back into the cool embrace of the grass beneath him. This place simply was........peaceful. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He soon found himself staring at the watch on his wrist, awaiting yet another challenge. Usually a challenge would already be up and would wake him, but now......all he saw was the compass feature on it. "Come on....." Xavier tapped the watch many times before jabbing at it with his fist. It's obvious that the watch had broken......stupid harbinger. With one more jab Xavier stood up, tired of awaiting a challenge. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After about an hour to wake up Xavier packed up camp and headed back to the forest to set it up once more, so they weren't exposed. Omega hummed silently, and for once, Xavier enjoyed it. It wasn't Omega's usual loud and obnoxious hum, it was one where a swift melody ruled the sound. 'Maybe this solemnness will do us all some good.' Xavier smiled to himself at this and found a right spot to set up the campsite. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After the setting up of camp Xavier reached out for an apple in his pocket and took a satisfying bite out of it with his mouth. The juice filled his mouth with the bite, which tempted Xavier to take another. 'I can't.' He handed the fruit to Omega who also took a bite from the apple. And just when he reached for his pokeballs to feed the others, a figure entered his eyesight. A teenage girl was lying in a tree sleeping. P.S. Sorry for taking so long ;; since it was basically Copy and Paste. |

Chapter 1 - Shiro (Daxity) - Vampire District
DONG! Shiro covered her ears in irritation, and glare at her curtained window. The stupid bell...It was time for the reaping. However, instead of being frightened like a lot of little vampires, she was smirking crazily as she hopped to her feet. One could get used to sleeping on the floor, especially if you slept for sixteen hours a day. Taking in a huff of air through her nose, she bared her fangs with lustful red eyes. It was illegal to kill anyone in the vampire district unless you were a government official, but now... "I can kill all the people I want!" She laughed out, swinging her arms into the air as she stared at the ceiling. People have always said she was crazy. Murderous, actually. But, they had taken that as a threat, not as something that would win the games. She knew she was going to be picked this year. Everybody wanted her gone. Not like she was gonna come back even if she DID win. "Victor's District here I come...All the blood I can drink!" Going down on all fours, Shiro began searching in the darkness of her room for her belongings. Of course, vampires aren't ACTUALLY weak against sunlight and garlic. Mere myths. Shiro just...is better at seeing in the dark like everyone else in her district. Though, she always claims that her vision is much better compared to others. Easily finding her long black dress stuffed behind an unused lamp, she tugged the thin fabric over her bare-naked body. It was also apparently illegal to waltz around naked. So, they couldn't take her to jail if she had this on. Even if she wasn't wearing underwear of any sorts, it wasn't illegal as long as her breasts and butt were covered from view. It was so much more COMFORTABLE naked though! Sighing heavily with a fit of choked coughs, Shiro fitted a piece of metal around the ring finger of her right hand, before slipping out of her guarded room. You'd think that the security would be better than a couple of bars on a window...It couldn't be any easier. With a lit crescent moon overhead in the clear night sky, Shiro jumped from each houises' roof with ease; scent fully transfixed on heavy smoke ahead. She could have seen the flame if she had wanted to, but her vision kept straying to the adult vampires staging themselves at each block. Lines of teenagers were between them, as they stumbled over one another to the reaping sight. She was always the last to go...Shiro stopped herself on a taller, more defined house, and lowereed her body down against the diagonal lining. Her gleaming, blood-red eyes traced down to the band around her wrist. She then began twisting it again and again between her fingers; the words rolling endlessly into her vision. "Dangerously Psychotic". That's what they had labeled her as. Apparently, it was psychotic behavior to snap a man's head off because you hated them...That pest's death was worth this feeble label. Her thoughts then turned to the image before her; two heavily armored vampire guards with stun guns hidden along their waist-line. "I'm going." Shiro muttered, not moving from her cat-like position against the cold roof. With her night vision, Shiro saw the two men give nervous glances towards eachother, before a pair of circles caught the moonlight into Shiro's eyes; handcuffs. "Come along, Daxity." The first guard began softly. "Let's go to the reaping togeth-ACK!" He was cut off suddenly because's someone's sharp nails were digging into his throat. Shiro's nails. He made a strangled sound, before flopping to the roof unconscious. The other guard immediately ran away into the shadows, leaving his abandoned partner with a psychotic teenager. Shiro licked the sticky red bloody off her black-pained fingernails, before continuing her path to the flames of the reaping. He wasn't going to die, he was gonna have a little... A crazy grin flooded her lips. A little nap. ~~~~~ With the fire of the reaping now in her view, Shiro made herself comfortable on the corner of the block. The government building literally towered over everyone's petty houses, and it's grand-ness was also where people were killed everyday. Now if only she was old enough to get a job as a torture specialist... DONG. Shiro growled as the bell went off for the final time, before the two leaders -Yuna and Calzus- stepped up to the twin podiums in all their sick, happy glory. Yuna's perfect, white hair fell down in locks just under her shoulder line, while Calzus had fine, gorgeous black hair of the same length. Shiro licked her lips in excitement. Calzus was sexy, and she had ALWAYS had a crush on him. Still, she could never understand why he had put a restraining order against her...What was that? Shrugging, Shiro watched as everything unfolded beyond the tube of flames seperating the stage from the peasants. It was the same speech every year, spoken first by the female, and the final half by the male. Yuna's voice was almost too happy for the occasion, and she droned on and on about why the arena was important, and how the vampires have won more games so far than any other district. Calzus then chimed in with his slick English accent, and explained to everyone what an honor it would be to win again. Then it began. The voting for the strongest fighters. Before her name was even called from Calzus' lips, Shiro jumped over the crowd of pre-adults, and then stood beside Calzus with a blank expression. Calzus seemed slightly taken aback from Shiro's sudden appearance, but his hesitant voice croaked out among the crowd to finish. The only names that really rang Shiro's bell were a girl named Marisa's, and her own. Marisa was a tiny girl, who could be mistakened for an eight year old, so...She was probably gonna be the weak participant this year. A huge grin surfaced once again as the other three participants lined up on stage. From dignified to completely horrified, they stood; cheers emmiting from the crowd as though a neon sign hung over their heads saying 'Applause'. Of course, everyone and their imaginary friend knew that it was all fake. Nobody was actually happy for them, or envious. They were more or less relieved to be rid of threats, and to have another year guaranteed to live. After the long applause was complete, Calzus finished the public reaping with the international statement: "May the odds be forever in their favor!" ~~~~~ It happened so fast, Shiro thought that maybe she was going mental again. The four of them were rushed by a dozen guards, and then pushed into the government building with their thoughts left behind. Everything was a blur of lights and sound, but according to the slight shimmer she would see occasionally, it was obvious they were in an amazing building made for the rich. But, nothing could compare to the room they were finally dropped off in. Beautiful, creamy yellow walls that held together a calm atmosphere. A pure white carpet beneath their feet that had not seen the light of day, and four reclining chairs that semi-circled around a fireplace. After finally having her mind gathered together, Shiro turned to glare at the three vampires that were lined behind her. "I swear to God. Get in my way, and I'll kill you all." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OOC: The Out-Of-Character thread should be up tomorrow, along with the chapter information. Also by that time, I should have at least ONE post for each district on here to use as reference. This is my first post for the Vampire District, and this is miss Daxity. Next, I shall hopefully do the Demon District as Bernkastel, Human District as Nokoto, and the Angel District as Scarlet. |

HUMAN DISTRICT :17:
lets get it started |
Chapter 1 - Bernkastel Vermillia - Demon District
"....." The sun was just beginning to set below the treeline, and with each waking minute, more pairs of glowing eyes were in her pursuit. "......" SNAP. Another arrow lodged into one of her pursuit's eyes, making for a clean kill. Still, there was no turning back to retrieve the body. She was still being hunted herself. But, the rush of adrenaline was what she lived for. The ONLY thing she lived for. Yet, it wasn't something she smiled about. It became a boring sport after the next few tries. I mean, a pack of wolves were no match for her speed as a demon. Everything simply rushed past in the blink of an eye, and stray bugs were snapping onto her cheeks as though her face was a windshield. With a hoist and a few jumps, she managed to avert herself away from the pack, and high up into the branches of a tree. The pack immediately ran out, not noticing their prey had disappeared from sight. However, her eyes kept glowing their hypnotic emerald green as she watched the beautiful colors of the sky disappear. The hunt was over, and hopefully a bigger, better hunt would be awaiting this adrenaline-seeker... "They better not bore me this year as well..." With a slight shiver from her branch, she was off; back to her home city where...She truely did not belong. ~~~ Sitting atop an abandoned warehouse, this young woman gingerly flipped through her books; her expressionless eyes glancing towards the government building every few moments. She had been attending these reapings since she became a teenager, and she probably would continue until she came of age. Then, she could repeat the same, endless cycle she had seen her parents go through. Wake up, work, eat, sleep. Nothing to keep up the excitement except for these...Population Games. It was the only thing in the world that could really keep her going on. For the adrenaline rush to come again. Yes, again. "L-lady Bernkastel! Kuze is calling for all the teenagers now!" It was Harrold; the young, optimistic retailer who was calling out to her. Looking down from her perch, Bern saw that he still had his exciting little smile, even though children were going to be picked that day to potentially die. Perhaps he knew that Bern was going to be in this year again? After all, because she was there after her last games, meant that she had beaten the rest of the districts. She was the only victor of sixteen people. "...Fine." Bern slipped herself from the rooftop, and landed neatly beside Harrold. Though he knew she wouldn't land on him, he flinched every time. Harrold was an amazing man, as he was the only one who really paid attention to her before her partake in the games. "Let's go." ~~~~~ It took longer than expected for them to get to the government building, but...If she had anything to blame it on selfishly, it would be Harrold's blown-off leg. Yeah, he got a new, artificial one, but it was still not enough to keep him from tripping over like the clutz he is. But, they did manage. She couldn't possibly leave Harrold hanging, and it was a wonderful thing that the Population Games did not affect him much. He's single and has no kids...So, he's living his life rather well. However, Bern seemed to be the unlucky one. Two Poppy Games have taken the lives of her friends, instead of her own. Now, she did not care if she got picked. There will be nothing to come back to after this. The adrenaline rush will be over. And Bernkastel Vermillia, will finally die. ~~~~~ With the night-time air around them, Bern casted herself back onto the stage in front of the governing building, knowing without knownledge that she was indeed going to be picked for the third time in a row. The first one had apparently been a fluke, but now... These demons were betting on if she was finally going to die this time around. Some even have rumored that Bern was immortal. Standing up beside Kuze -the government leader- Bern couldn't help but have her hands trace the symbols burned onto both her arms. Each year, you got a symbol embedded into your skin to show your participation...Where were they going to burn her this time around? It wasn't any secret that Kuze hated Bernkastel's guts; especially after killing off his youngest son in the first games she had participated in. Now her life was in total balance. Die here, or die in the arena for his justice. ~~~~~ The horn was blown to signal the start of the reaping, and immediately Bern synced herself out of the speech. Her eyes just scanned the crowd. Ever since coming back from the second games and not going to the Victor's District, she had decided against making any new teenage friends, which she might have had to kill later on. Her relationships died along with her very emotions back in the second games. "Xavier Harrah. Bernkastel Vermillia...Ryuu Akuma...And Paris Junibe." Paris. Bern winced at the name, and watched as a beautiful, young woman of seventeen walked onto the stage with enormous purple-feathered wings. Glossy brown hair and stunning cranberry eyes; completely gorgeous. The other two boys seemed to be in the looks department as well...And the one who certainly caught her eye was named....Xavier. Too bad most, if not everyone here was going to die. However, it didn't seem as though Bernkastel was the only one to notice the odd selection of players this year. So did Kuze, and he seemed to be enjoying it. Kuze was-don't vomit-a handsome old man. Blood red hair to match his eyes, and he always looked as though he was simply DIPPED in gore. He probably was, as he always reaked of blood and booze. He stepped up to the mike amazingly, and began to speak in his low, no-nonsense voice. "Seems we have a bunch of supermodels to look at this year! May our eyes be sinned by their disguising beauty." Did Bern ever mention how he HATES beautiful teenagers? At first, Bern thought that maybe she wouldn't get her burning this year. Oh, was she so wrong...After the three participants were symboled by their arms and the smell of burning flesh was in the air, did Kuze pay notice to Bernkastel. "Our third contestant to the games..." He raised the white-hot, metal seal into the air, and the small flickers of heat licked the air hungrily. Abruptly, strong arms grabbed Bernkastel, and pinned her down to her stomach. Kuze leaned over her as one of the demon's extended her left wing. Her beautiful, raven-black wing. "May this be Bernkastel Vermillia's..." He positioned the symbol just abover her feathers. "Final Population Games." With that final saying, the metal snapped down onto her wing, and everything was colored in everything painful. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 1 - The Reaping of the Population Summary: It is now the beginning of warm, beautiful weather. However, your blood may be shed within the week, to stain your local white roses red. To be exact, it is the beginning week of May. You know the saying: April showers bring May flowers. *All train desinations are to District 5, which is a small piece of land outside the vampire district. Camera's are only at the reaping. This chapter is mostly for interaction between the participants of YOUR district. |
There was never anyone more excited for the days of the Reaping than Ryuu Akuma, more commonly referred by some as "The Rhino". Ryuu grew up under one of the most pampered and richest families of the Demon District. His life was one of luxury and solitude, but even as he was there, Ryuu knew this was not where he belonged. He was, from a very early age, quite bloodthirsty, even for a demon. When he was 13, he had taken his first kill. Since then, he was on a rampage. As the districts were separate by shields, though it was harder and harder to find others of the 'lower races', as Ryuu called them, to kill. Ryuu would never get in trouble with authorities, though. His parents were in such high standing, they would always find some way to get rid of his accusations, which ranged from:
Assault, Assault with a deadly weapon, Murder, Attempted Murder, Attempted Murder which became murder, Assault with a murdered victim, Murder with a deadly weapon, Assault with a weapon that couldn't have possibly been deadly, but unfortunately was, etc. The list went on and on. Every time, the charges were dismissed, but everyone knew who did them. They always knew. Ryuu was a walking deathtrap. One false look could make you end up dead, and running wouldn't save you. Ryuu was persistent, perhaps TOO persistent, hence the nickname "The Rhino". But even so, murdering his own kind left a bad taste in his mouth When he heard about the Reaping, being a troublesome kid who murders his own kind for pleasure, he was certain they would vote him to there, and he would be happy to participate in a conflict between the 'lower races' and himself. But as the time came, the names were called, and he wasn't selected. Every year was the same. It had gone on for many years before, at 17, Ryuu had discovered that it was his parents who had kept him out of the Reaping. They had held enough authority to constantly banish his name. But the authorities were getting impatient, and so was Ryuu. On night, not long ago, in fact, only a few months ago, Ryuu went into his parent's bedroom and murdered them in their sleep. Once again, everyone had known, or had a general idea, who did it. Yet they figured making him fight and die in the Reaping would be more appropriate. Finally, after years of waiting, Ryuu Akuma was finally getting his wish. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~` Ryuu awoke by the opening of the curtains by his servant, whose name Ryuu did not bother to learn over the years. He just knew him as servant, and servant just knew him as master. The hot climate of the inside of the house matched that of the outside. Demons preferred to be in hotter climates. Ryuu growled a bit as he opened the curtains, letting in the light into his dark room. "Explain yourself, servant." The servant mumbled a bit. "Y-yes, master. Y-you see, y-you w-w-warned me to w-wake you up earlier on the d-day of the Reaping, and I wanted to respect your wishes, m-master." Ryuu instantly shot up. "Well why didn't you say so!!!?" Ryuu got up, putting on his favorite dark blue shirt and pants, and putting on his ankle-length coat on. The clothes were tattered and worn. They had been previously in neat shape, but after his parent's death, he felt unnecessary to put on the charade of nobility. He wore the style he liked, even if it was a bit unorthodox of one with money. The servant muttered again. "M-master, the escorts are here to escort all t-teenagers to the Reaping. Shall I let them in?" Ryuu's got up beside the servant. At well above 6 feet, he was a giant to him, and his expression matched his stature, a brute of sorts. "I will walk myself. I need no escorts. Have I not made my way there before countless times?" With that, Ryuu sprang from the window, shattering the glass as he fell to the ground from his mansion, which, after the death of his parent's, now belonged to him. He made his way to the back of the crowd and watched in glee and excitement as he waited for his name, which most certainly would be called this time, to be called. Kuze announced them. "Xavier Harrah. Bernkastel Vermillia...Ryuu Akuma...And Paris Junibe." He noticed the pause as Kuze said his own name. Ryuu didn't doubt that he had heard of him, and possibly wondered how he made his way onto the list. As he approached the stage, he wore a smile on his face. The others were less impressive than he, or so he thought. The two women were attractive, and wondered why the people would vote for them to be sent to the Reaping. Yet, as Ryuu learned in the past, looks can be decieving (Well, maybe not in Ryuu's case). Ryuu went to get himself symboled, cringing a bit from the pain. He accepted it, though, thinking in his head, pleasure for pain, pain for pleasure. Just as he thought this, the one known as Bernkastel Vermillia went to get herself a symbol. He noticed herself covered in them. She had done this before, and survived. Ryuu watched the three now with renewed interest. Before they could say anything else, they were rushed off to the trains to take them to District 5. Ryuu's heart pounded as the train doors closed behind them. Ryuu spoke for the first time, mostly to himself. "The beginning of the end..." With that, the train doors closed. |
Chapter 1 - Nokoto Umi - Human District
"Tap tap....Spin! Jump! There you go! Well done, Nokoto!" I stopped my movements as a warm, comforting hand reached out and touched my shoulder. I bowed towards my mentor-who was also my mother-and smiled brightly. It had taken a full day to perfect this dance, so I was soaked in my own sticky, gross sweat. My mother began drowning me in applause and praise, and I drank it all up. With an empty dance studio all to myself, it actually wasn't that big of an accomplishment. But still, my body couldn't help but share the fact I was in major need of a nice shower. After a quick shower in the changing room, I slipped on my skinny jeans and black t-shirt. According to my mother, athetic women don't grow breasts, which was completely fine with me. I never wanted to have big, size D boobs anyways. I have had the same plan since I was seven years old. My life would be rather simple. No husband, yet I would let my little sister live with me. I would be a dance instructor for children, while she, Kimi, would teach vocals. Neither of us would have children, so we wouldn't have to worry about the reapings taking them away. "Crap!" I froze just outside the door, and that's when I remembered what day it was. Through the tiny, plate-sized window, I could see the outside world which I had missed almost completely. Marching through the streets were approximately a hundred soldiers; unarmed. Teenagers were crammed between the two lines of adults, and were steadily approaching the other end of the city; where the government building was. Today, was the reaping day. Well, I couldn't exactly SKIP this. Not like I would be elected anyways. Taking a deep breath, I pushed open the door. Attempting to look casual and calm, I slid between the people, only to end up beng pushed along by the tides of older teenagers. That's how we traveled for the next few blocks. Packed together like a loaf of sliced bread, even if you did trip, the people in front of you would stop your fall. The reason I wasn't worried about being picked for the election, was because of this. There were more teenagers than adults. Your chances on being picked were four to about...A hundred thousand. With these sort of odds, four unlucky people were going to be majorly blind-sided today. ~~~~~ Even better, we were herded into the area before the tall government building like a bunch of cattle! Soon, the air was vibrating with whispers from everyone, and even though I was bored of the same routine for three years, I couldn't be bothered to listen in on conversations or make my own. I didn't have to wait long, though. The single-toned bell rang out to get everyones' attention towards the podium. For safety issues, there was a line of armed guards separating us from the building. After all, there had been riots in the past during the reaping. Every teenager watched in silenece as our bleach-blonde leader...Statia Maina...approached the stand. Her perfect face free of blemishes with those baby blue eyes were being broadcasted across the world. Each reaping was on camera, yes. Which, is both a good and bad thing. The woman leaned her mouth close to the mike, and began her long, boring speech that was repeated among the districts. How the population games came to be and blah blah blah. I zoned out at this point, and only came to when I heard my sisters name; Kimia Osoku. At first, I thought someone was speaking to me, so I looked around for the one who had spoken. My gaze rested back to our leader as she announced three names from the square of paper in her hands. Three names...The first one had been my sister's name. And she was the participant for this years' population games. ~~~~~ Before I knew what I was doing, I was at the line of guards; screaming my sisters name again and again as two adults restrained me. I could see my small, frail sister climbing the staircase to her potential death... "W-wait! Stop! Kimi!! I'll take Kimi's place! Just...Just let her go!" I pleaded out, struggling to get my sister off that stage. That horrible, horrible stage. Finally, I broke free of their grip, and stumbled over to Kimia. I hugged her tightly, before looking towards the crowd. They were all staring. Thousands of eyes, just...Staring. Statia cleared her throat as she glanced at the two of us embracing. "Well...It seems this individual has offered to take Kimia Osoku's place...It shall be, then. What is your name?" I swallowed hard. Now I didn't feel as confident and brave as before...But, if it meant saving my sister's life... I stood tall, and pushed my crying sister behind my back protectively. "My name is Nokoto. Nokoto Osoku." I turned towards the cameras on the ledge of the stage, and pointed straight at it's lense. "And I WILL win the Population Games!" |
This day smelled of death. The air, the land, the water, the people. Everything reeked of death. Especially, his wings. Xavier knew many people envied his wings. They were comprised of black and blood red feathers. Blood red. He could find no other way to describe this color. It just reminded him of.....blood. More specifiaclly, blood spilled in the Games. The sickening events that were to start in the next few days.
Xavier at the moment was daydreaming out of the window in his 'house'. Yeah right. His house had only three rooms - if one said they were big enough; a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. From a distance you could say it looked like a shack. Which it basically was since it was just a larger shack. And to him the games were just plain pointless. Really was there any point to them at all? What most people would say is to keep the population down.....really? Why in the right mind they're most likely in, believe that load of crap the Gods fed them? People from all districts are having more and more babies every year and by basically keeping the species from waging war, they were simply having the populations rise! At least in Xavier's point of view. His mind was still whirling from all the thoughts of the Games and the familiar face popped into his head. Bernkaestel Vermilia, the two time winner of the Population Games from his district. How full of herself is she? And also another word to describe her, bloodthirsty. The only reason Xavier would ever go to the winners district would be so he would never have to murder for the sake of entertainment again. And she? She had to keep going back and killing more and more of her own kind. Sickening. Absolutely sickening. Xavier heard a low rumbling sound that echoed throughout the district; signaling it was time for the reaping. The said teen always found it odd that he was never chosen. He had been alone for years and always thought he'd be chosen, so now he just assumes his whole existance had been forgotten. Not really a problem at all actually. He prefered to be alone at this point. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Reaping~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ After Xavier took his seat the reapings had finally began...with his name. Well it looked like he wasn't as forgotten as he thought he was. Although, who had been keeping an eye on him? He didn't know anybody except the Games winner and Kuze. That'll prbably never be answered so he just decided to drop it and walked up quietly to the stage, to be immediately accompanied by Bernkaestel herself. Once the other two members of the reaping took their places beside him Xavier had been only worried about one person. Bernkastel. she was the only one he knew about and was thus his main threat and...wait?! What in the heck did Kaze just say?! Beautiful teens?! What was wrong with this man? Outside of Xavier however his expression was still rock blank. 'Nngh!' His teeth clencehed after the burning of his arm and watched as Bern fell to the ground and Kaze's menacing words as he was shoved on a train. ~~~~The Boarding~~~~~ Xavier had been on the train and had been waiting in his seat when a man dropped Bernkastel into the seat across from him. When Bern turned to look at him Xavier gave off an awkward hello and turned his head to the window beside him |
-Raike nodded as he leaned against the doorframe of his house, listening to the soldiers explaining the event that was taking place today. When they told him that he had to go to the election seremony, he refused quite solidly, shutting the door in the faces of the two soldiers. As he ignored the banging on the door behind him, he walked up the steps, skipping two at a time, sighing. When the soldiers had come, Raike had been sleeping, so he had basically answered the door in his boxers, but he didn't really care. As he pulled on his black baggy jeans, he scowled at being woken up so early, well for him at least.
"They'll probably pick me, since they want to be rid of me oh soo badly." Thought Raike as he slipped on his red and black striped shirt, and his jacket over it. "Well, I don't feel like it, so they are going to have to tranquilize me or something, cuz' I'm getting outta here." he murmered under his breath as he slipped on his gloves, and then his boots soon after. He strapped his hunting knife to his belt, somewhat hastily, hearing the now splintery sound of the front door breaking. As he opened the window, he felt the cool breeze hit his face, and he smiled slightly, looking back at the room. The house wasn't necessarily his, taking into consideration that the owners had gone hunting in the woods a few years ago, but had never returned. Raike had needed a place to stay, so where better then an already paid for house? He climbed out of the window and pushed off the wall, jumping to get a grip on the ledge of the neighboring house, and repeating between the two until he reached the ground. Dusting himself off, he began to run in the opposite direction, dodging patrols that were gathering other teens, who seemed somewhat happy to go. Raike shook his head looking at them, they didn't know what they were doing. He had spied on the "game" once before, and saw what happened to the people there, and he wanted no part in it. He was almost out of the danger zone when he made one false move, he had stepped on a twig, and his metal plated boots had snapped it easily. The soldiers in the Human district were pretty alert, nothing Raike couldn't handle depending on the number of them, but there were too many this time. It took about 17 of them to restrain him, and make him join the line going towards the reaping. Scowling, he glared at all the people around him; this was not good.- ====== -Raike stood, scowling and glaring at everyone around him. Everyone just thought that he took space in the village, and even was a bit of a theif. Yeah, he would be "elected" alright, and there was no way he would be getting out of this. He watched Statia Mania, the town's mayor for 11 warily as she went on with the speach that talked about the glory of the "game" and how great of an honor it was to be in the fight. When she stopped speaking, she silenced the cheers of the crowd, and began to announce something, and Raike cursed silently.- "Now, before we allow voulenteers, there has been a spot reserved, for none other than our Raike Destan!" -At this Raike cursed a bit louder, and the people began to grumble about why Raike, the worst of them all was getting the chance compete. Raike walked up to the platform, avoiding the gaze of the crowd, and mayor, and staring off into the distance. He zoned out as the other names were called, but came back when it was boarding time. Raike had no one to say goodbye to, and so he walked silently down the steps to the underground subway to catch the train. The crowed filled up the room after the other 3 condenders had walked down the steps, and entered the train. All of the crowd was cheering, partly because Raike was leaving, and also because they wanted the rest of the humans to bring back victory to their district. Raike decided to leave the people something to remember himself by, so he looked around and spotted a windex can. Luckily, there was still some of the liquid left, so Raike sprayed it all over one large window. He then proceeded to write "F all you jankbots." jank being his own made up curse word. He then flipped them all off as the train pulled out of the station, ignoring the angry shouts and curses.- |
Chapter 1 - Amelia Kunjui - Angel District
"EEP! Stop!" The little girl cried, holding her hands into the air clumsily as she attempted to catch her necklace, which was being thrown back and forth by two older boys; in the sky. "Hah! Come get it yourself! What, can't fly? Then you can't call yourself an angel! Go chop off your wings and live with the humans! Freak!" The first boy snarled, chucking the diamond locket to his equally mean best friend. "Stop! Please! My mother gave me that!" When the second boy caught it, he began to pull on the silver cord keeping the locket together. "You know, this is called harrassment, boys." An older woman was standing behind the second boy, and swiped the locket away easily. The boys turned and looked at her with awestrucken faces. "Y-you're..." The first one began. "W-we're sorry! We won't do it again!!" Before the woman could react, they were already flying away in a panic. Slowly, the brown-haired teenager flew down to the ground with her white angel wings, and gave the locket back to the girl. "Here you go...Be more careful next time." She smiled gently, and the smaller girl smiled back and thanked her. "Thank you, Amelia!" ~~~~~ I stared at myself in the mirror, and a female servant brushed my long brown locks in silence. Ever since I was little, I had wanted to brush my own hair, but my mother would never allow it. Servants were there for a reason. So you could look perfect without moving a finger. They picked out my wardrobe...My habits...Even what I ate. And this is what I had become. I simple doll used for decoration. That can not acheive anything because my mother didn't want me to get a papercut. My skin is absolutely flawless, as it was always protected from the blazing sun with long sleeves. My hair is also perfect, as I showered twice a day with the finest, most expensive shampoo. My family had been wealthy for well over a dozen years, so I had been only six years old when we were on the brink of bankrupcy. How did we build ourselves to be the richest family in the angel district? I'll get to that later. "Madam...Don't slouch. It's bad for your posture. Don't frown. It gives you wrinkles." The servant repeated for the third time this sesson. She was now applying makeup to my eyelids like the doll I was, while the other two mindless servants prepared me an outfit. Of course, I was never able to wear skirts or jeans like the other girls. Either too much skin was showing, or it wasn't 'lady-like'. Dresses. That's what I wore. Even my pajamas were elegant, light dresses. Just in case, you know, a camera popped out and wanted my picture at two AM. Did I mention my bedtimes? Eight o'clock at night, and I cannot leave my room until ten the next morning. I slowly stretched my body out beyond what it was supposed to be, and placed my hands on my lap. My lips arched up in an elegant smile, and I stayed like that for the next hour, while my servant applied the heavy makeup to my face and naked body. I was then ordered to stand, and I did in one swift motion like how I had been taught. No hesitation. No mistakes. Everyone is watching you. The second servant -an ugly older woman with wrinkles- brought a tape measure to my skin, and began measuring each point in my body. Either congradulating me on my figures, or bashing my breasts for being too small. Next week I was scheduled for breast implants. I'm sixteen. Once my measurements were confirmed, I hopped onto the scale. My servants watched as the numbers moved around, before settling at a hundred and twenty pounds. Oh, and my wings alone are fifteen pounds, meaning....I weight about a hundred points, and I'm in my teens. I'm also tall because my mother has me do stretching exercises every day. I'm five feet, eight inches. Want to do the math? Sorry. My mother doesn't allow that either. I have to solve everything by myself. I take special tutors from home, which mostly involve math and politics. I also excel in arts, drama, piano, violin, and bass guitar. Hi, my name is Barbie. "That's good, madam. Let's get you dressed now." Remember, I'm still smiling like an idiot. Of course, I suppose no matter how high my IQ is, I really am an idiot for putting up with all this. I watch with my glossy brown eyes as the three servants swarm around me, and grab different point in my body. Isn't this called sexual harrassment in the real world? I put up with it like the idiot I am, and suck in what stomach I have so the corset can squeeze me in tighter. The corset also goes over my breasts, but they aren't used to press down. The corset is also used to make them look bigger in a dress. When I feel like I'm about to hurl, they tie the strings at the back, and prop up one of my bare feet. They then slipped each foot into two-inch, diamond crested sandals. I am then told to stand myself on a platform, so I do. Raise my arms. I do so automatically. The itchy, heavy fabric of the ball gown slides down my body, and falls down the floor either though I'm on a foot-high platform. My mother doesn't believe in hemming. My treated wings find themselves out of the two slits at the back, and the servants pick away loose feathers to my dismay, as some weren't loose, but were only standing up from the rest. I then sit down awkwardly on a chair, and extend my fingers before them. Instantly, two of the servants get to work on my fingernails, while the other grabs my foot from underneath my dress and paints my toenails. By the time they're finished, each nail is perfectly curved and painted white, with real strands of silver making stripes across them. I do not dare ask if we are finished, so I keep silent and continue smiling happily. "Oh, you look beautiful, Amelia~! You'll take the entire world down with your beauty!" The first servant says, as the third places expensive jewelry on my wrists, ankles, neck, and ears. Finally, I am fitted with a crown, and I'm told to walk outside. Lowering myself down the steps leading down to the main entrance, I can't help but realize that I can't walk in these stupid high-heels...I think my servants went too far from reality than normal...At least they left my hair be...Walking down the tile flooring, my heels click against its surface with an erie sound. It was quiet inside, but outside was a madhouse.Exhaling slowly, and smile again after letting my jaw muscles relax for a minute, and I push open the doors. To find myself behind the line of guards guarding the government building, and watching my mother's back as she did her speech about the population games. You guessed right. My mother is the most powerful and weathiest women in the angel district. And I am her daughter. I stand between two of my personal guards, and watch with minimum interest as the government leader goes further into the speech. However, I lock my full attention at a box on the podium after her speech. Four people's names were going to be drawn, and they were probably going to die. I wait patiently as three names are called, before beginning to move back inside. However, I do not hear a forth name. Only silence. I turn around curiously, to find my mother holding a piece of paper up to the sunlight, as though she can't read it properly. "A-amelia Kunjui..." My heart stops as I realize what that means. My mother saying my name from a piece of paper on the reaping day...I didn't win the lottery. I won my immediate death. I stare at my mother in disbelief, and she looks back to see me. For once in my life, she give me a worried look, before turning back to the crowd. "And that concludes the reaping!" When the crowd is finally gone, I rush over to my mother. "What will we do?! Do you have to participate? I'll die for certain! There are so many more people who are stronger than me, mom!" Taniko looks down. "I know...I'm sorry I can't send anything with you to help. But maybe they will allow this." She reaches into her pocket, and hands me a stick of plastic. I twist the end, and...Lipstick! "I'm sorry you'll have to live out in the wild without all this. But, try to sneak that, alright? You still need to stay--" Anger washes over me. She didn't care about my life! She cared wheither or not I was beautiful the day I die! Without thinking, I slap my mother across the face. For the first time, I feel physical pain, and...It feels good. I go to slap her again, but eletricity shoots me in the back and I fall to my knees; knowing I had just been tazored. With my last bits of consciousness, I mutter one last thing before they begin to carry me towards the train. "I hate you." |
Children were running around playing, older teens were sitting in random spots laughing a goofing off, men and woman hurrying through the crowds heading off to wherever they needed to be and even well known 'celebrities' of the District were making appearances for the people. Shizuka Yoshiko was also out and about, his back against a randomly chosen wall so he could observe everyone as he typically did. That was until someone he knew came running up to him, and although he didn't know this person very well as she was an acquaintance of another friend he still stayed to hear her story. The younger girl quickly collected herself and caught he breath then took a deep breath and exhaled,
"Hey Shizuka! Remember me?" Shizu did not remember her name, but he wasn't much of a talker so he just said yes. "Oh well anyways, I was sent to find you..you're going to miss the Reaping if you don't hurry up and we wouldn't want the guards to be sent to get you, that wouldn't be pleasant." Shizu just gave an uncaring nod, but began to follow the girl in the direction of the Reaping - what a barbaric lifestyle we are forced to live due to past mistakes thought Shizuka. As they continued walking the girl continued to ramble but slowly the words started meshing together and not making any sense, so Shizuka stopped the girl and gave her a puzzled look. As the girl opened her mouth to ask about his confussed expression, on the sound of bells could be heard. --- Shizuka opened his eyes and brought his hand down on his ringing alarm, he sat upright immediately and muttered to himself "the day has come." He climbed out of his bed and quickly made his way to the closet to figure out his attire for such a special occasion, wouldn't want to disappoint anyone as he always did. After quickly changing into a pair of jeans, Shizu was pulling on a medium-dark gray tanktop just opened from a package when a knock came at his door. "Hunny, are you awake yet? Your alarm has been going off and its almost time to head out to the Reaping. Your father wanted me to tell you he was sorry, something came up at the office and he won't be able to make it with us today." "I'm awake Mom, thank you." "I have breakfast for you, it's on the table. I'm going to get ready, quickly, myself." "Thank you Mom, love you." "Love you too," was her reply as her footsteps were heard leading her towards her own bedroom down the hall. Shizuka sat down on the bed and started putting his boots on, wondering if his mother still really believed that any 'business came up' when his father wanted an excuse to avoid as little contact as possible with him. The bigot despised his son because of his wing color, like it was his fault that he was born that way. They both had been involved in a fight regarding his difference when he was younger, his father was scolding him on his lack of friends and seclusion in his room when they began to physically fight. Shizu was being torn down piece by piece for who he was and he'd had enough, he swung at his father catching him in the jaw - but he was an experienced fighter as he had prepared his whole life in case he'd been called to the reaping, so he quickly retaliated with the knife he had in his hand. Shizu earned his lifelong scar that day. His father was completely horrified at what he had done, but chose to remain silent towards his son rather than try to rekindle any remaining love his son had for him - any love which died that day. Shizu looked at the clocked and realized that it was getting far too late and he still had to eat his breakfast and then walk with his mom to the Reaping to see who would be chosen this year. Shizu was hoping it would be him, although he despises his father he still had the same drive to compete and win in the games. Everyday he teaches himself something new, whether it be a past war strategy; a fighting technique or even use of a weapon. The drive was his motivation for continuing on each and every day, knowing his father wished he was dead and that his mother was torn between the both of them. He quickly stood up and gathered some things, slinging a bag over his shoulders once every was collected, and headed downstairs to wait for his mom. She had prepared quite an excellent feast, but he merely grabbed some fresh fruit to much on while he waited and an apple for walk to the Reaping. --- Cheering, crying, screaming and a few little fights here and there was the soundtrack of the crowd of people waiting for Taniko Kunjui to arrive and begin her photocopied speech that he knew each district received and was ordered to read. As he was glancing around the crowds to see anyone he may have known, the cheers of everyone rose in volume and sent his attention straight to the podium as an older woman came onto the stage and begin speaking. Shizu tuned out his leader and continued looking throughout the crowd and ignored the speech he had memorized, he has been coming to the Reaping every year since even before he was eligible to compete in anticipation of the day he would be able to join. Suddenly a burst of cheers, cries of sadness and bursts of anger were echoing through the sea of people - the first name had been called and the reactions were mixed. Quickly scanning the newly formed path, he watched as the first competitor slowly walked toward the stage. Taniko said a few words and then pulled the next name from the box and said it aloud, "Shizuka Yoshiko!" Yes, was all Shizu could say to himself, I will win this reaping and I will prove to my father I am better than he will ever be. The crowd didn't have quite a mixed reaction as before, there wasn't even really a reaction except for cheers of the second name being drawn. Everyone in his district either had no clue who he was, or were disgusted because he wings weren't a solid color like everyone else's. Turning to his mother Shizu became slightly upset as he looked to his mom, her face completely read shock; sadness and worry - she just got to listen to her leader read her sons likely death in front of the entire district. Shizuka drew his mom into a hug and whispered, "I will win these games mother and I will come back to you." With that said he made his way through the crowd towards the stage, some people gasping when seeing him for the first time - others scowled with hatred. Shizu just ignored it all and finally reached the front of the stage, he acknowledged Taniko and then stood next to the first competitor and looked out at the crowd as the rest of the names were to be read. Nothing too exciting happened with the third name, neither the first or third chosen were people Shizu knew and he could tell that the Reaping this year would become interesting. Taniko began speaking again as she was pulling the last name from the box, "A-amelia Kunjui..." Everyone, including Shizu, were completely shocked at the name who had just been drawn from the box - the very daughter of our leader was now involved in the deadliest game, a game which Shizu intended to win. |
Rai woke up before the sunrise and then looked out to the skies.
"Today has finally arrived. A chance to get out of here, and to leave most of my people behind me, and to start anew with other races." Rai thought to himself. He then got ready, putting on his clothes and getting ready for his day. He picked up his military tactics book and combat tactics book, and admired them, knowing that this day would change him forever. Rai simply got ready, and prepared his food, knowing his parents would be at this event, hoping he would get sent off and hoping that he would die in the process. Rai knew that his parents hated him, he knew that they didn't even think of him to be their child. They think of him as a blemish on their high class family. The only reason they hated him, was because his wings were pitch black, while everyone else's wings in the family were white. When his parents rejected him, people saw it as a license to insult him, and the attempts on his life began during his formulative years. The first time was when someone came towards him with a knife, slitting his neck a few times, but out of self preservation Rai grabbed the guy's head and twisted it as far as he could. Eventually, instead of being the boy who killed out of self defense, he became the boy killer. Eventually the attempts on his life became more public and frequent, and with each time he was about to get killed he incapacitated the assailant, due to the fact that he only kills as a last resort. Even his father tried killing him one day, and out of self preservation, kicked his father in the lower back, and made his father a parapalegic angel, to this day. Everyday Rai learns a new skill, which is why he had those books; he mostly learnt adaptability and combat skills, but he also learnt about anatomy, so that he could quickly incapacitate an opponent. If he was selected, he knew that he had a high chance of it, it would be simply so that he would die, and the blood would not be on the district's hands. Rai simply took everything that he needed and put it inside of a bag and walked out, going to the reaping. --- Rai simply looked on, knowing that Mr. Kunjui had a generic speech which all of the districts would get, and he simply just listened to bits and pieces of it due to the fact that he only wanted to be seen when his name would be called, no other time. Rai simply looked on and saw his parents, and they then spotted him, having a very devilish smile at him then looking away. Suddenly a plethora of sounds composed of cheers, cries, and other things rang through Rai's ears. He then heard the next name. "Shizuka Yoshiko!" Not many people knew him so he just went to hug a woman who was probably his mother, and Rai knew not to underestimate this man. "Kaito Hirosaki!" Rai's name was called and as a path was cleared where he was, he walked forward with energy, even though people were throwing things at him, and that energy then dissipated, and people then began raining insults on him, and Rai simply walked with his head down as there were some trying to attack him then and there, and he simply walked off to his death as he heard a name he never expected to be there. "A-amelia Kunjui..." Everyone's jaw dropped whether physical or metaphorical and Rai then looked and then felt guilty because the girl had never done anything to him, and the competition he intended to use to meet new people and to make sure that people couldn't toy with him was now infected, by a weak dollfaced girl. |
Chapter 1 - Amelia Kunjui - Angel District
When I awoke, my back was still feeling a bit numb from the electric shock. But, it was worth saying those words to my 'mother'. And those would be the last words I would probably ever say to her. The three words still rang in my head as though a disc in my memory had been jammed endlessly. "I hate you. I hate you. I hate you!" I jolted upwards into a sitting position. Where was I?! I looked around, and my panic slowly thinned, as where I was was the least of my worries. It was who I was with, I should be worried about. Over to my far left was the boy I remembered to be named Shizuka. Normally, I couldn't go outside, but from what I had heard from the political people around me, nobody liked him. Reason? Because he had odd wings; grey with blue tips. It was a rare occurance for angels to have dark-colored wings, so those individuals were always bullied and threatened...Far in the back at the edge of my view, was Kaito. Amazingly, he also had black wings...Interesting. I look over beside me, and jump out of my seat to find the other girl glaring at me. She was....Well, what my mother would say, ugly. But she actually was normal-faced. What normal teenagers had. Pimples...Your noticable scars and imperfections....Her wings were a smokie grey. What was her name again...? Oh right...Pewi. Her arms were crossed at me, and she seemed rather irritated. Actually, I probably should too, because of the circumstances... Giving a polite nod towards her, I awkwardly stumbled away. Why was she looking so angry? Finally, I decide to ditch my expensive high-heels and go bare-foot inside the cabin of our train. Nervously, I walk over beside Shizuka, and lean over to look at his face. Honestly, I have never been greeted to anyone here. I've only heard horrible rumors about them. They didn't seem like bad people... "H-hi. You're Shizuka right...? This is my first time meeting you. I guess you know who I am..." I give off a nervous laugh. Of course everyone knew who I was. Especially now. Chapter 1 - Pewita Humoi - Angel District Why are you reading this? You have more important things to read, than my feelings. Some say I'm sadistic. I say I'm normal. Who in their right mind would LIKE the Gods running the place and sending teens off to be killed? I hate everything involving them. From the buildings their money made, to the people under their toes. My eyes looked towards Amelia, the only daughter of the Angel District Leader. Since her mother is in hoots with the Gods, then the daughter must also be hated. With her perfect good looks....Expensive clothing, and power...What was there NOT to hate? Guys would always flirt with her when she was outside, and some guys didn't even date in hopes of having this perfect beauty. When Amelia realized I was staring, I didn't look away. I simply crossed my arms and hardened my look further. Perhaps she would get the hint that she wasn't wanted by me? No way in Hell was I gonna kiss up to her just because her family has power. I will defy her. Her mother. The government. The world. And I will eliminate her. I watched with eagle eyes as Amelia got up and nervously walked over to that Shizuka character. Probably to seduce him with her beauty...Well, if she was gonna play like that... I heaved myself up to stand, and used the window beside me to fix my hair. If Shizuka was already taken, then I was gonna have a pleasant conversation with Kaito. Walking over to the other end of the compartment, I leaned myself against the seat beside him and eyed his wings. An interesting one already. Normally, angels would have white, pure wings. This one had black wings. I had grey. What was the difference then? His wings were already like defying nature itself, so... "Yo, Kaito, right? Why are ya hanging over here and not with the others?" I slided down beside him, and blinked my violet eyes at him. "Pretty interesting, the selections this year." I added, sliding a hand through my tomboy-ish short blonde hair. Chapter 1 - Bernkastel Vermillia - Demon District I must have only been out for a few minutes, because next thing I knew, I was seated on the train with that Xavier boy before me. Where was Paris...? Ryuu? No no, I could see them now. Ryuu's reflection in a mirror, so he was behind me at the back of the train. Paris was the the front. Cleaning her nails and muttering to herself about how long it was going to take for the symbol mark to heal. You'd think, after seeing my condition, that she would realize that the symbol was forever permanent. As soon as my mind trailed to that, I realized just how much pain my wing was in. Probably wouldn't be able to fly for a few days... An awkward hello came my way, and I looked up from my shoulder to see Xavier turn his head towards the window on his left. Honestly, I was surprised I wasn't getting jumped for participating for the third time. But a simple hello? Before I could stop myself, my mind began taking hold of different possible theories to this. That was just how my mind worked. I was a thinker. Someone who gathered knowledge whenever possible. It was because of my traits, that I had won two games in a row. Most likely a third. Abruptly, the tv above me, and the other above Xavier buzzed, and the screen flickered to the recaps of the reapings. As always, the God-favorites went first. They skipped the speech this time around, and before the leader -Calzus- could say the names of the participants, a vampire jumped over the crowd to stand on stage. Everyone gasped, and then went completely silent. This teenager didn't look all that good in comparison to the other teenagers in the crowd. She seemed rather skinny, but there was a lustful look to her eyes that I immediately noted down. The next participant made my eyebrows raise. They were taking little girls' now? No...This girl named Marisa wasn't as young as she looked. Examining her body, this must have been her first year taking part in the gathering. She looked easily killable. The other two didn't really catch my watchful eyes, so I looked back to the window and waited for the next recap. The screen hardly wavered, when the angel's recap replaced the vampire district. This one seemed more entertaining, as the two men which had been elected seemed to be the target for bullies. They stuck out like blood against snow. Dark-colored wings in a sea of whites and yellows. The third to be called was the leader's daughter, and that came as a shock. I had always thought that children inside the government had protection against the reaping...I suppose not. The final person looked like someone who had lived as a gangmember half their life, and got into a fist-fight lately. She also had dark-colored wings...Huh. Next was the demon district, so I immediately turned my attention to my wings. I didn't need to see the symbols embedded on my body on a simple television to know they were there. Once that district was over, the final district's reaping was broadcasted. The human district. What was really fasinating, was the scene a girl named Nokoto made. Supposely, her sister's name had been called, and she volenteered to take her place. Another human had a reserved spot, which was rather interesting as well. Just as the reaping was ending, the Nokoto girl pointed at the camera and announced to the world that she was going to win this year. I crossed my arms, and then my legs as I leaned back in my seat. "....I want to see your proof on this. Courage and bravery do not kill the wise and strong." I was mostly talking to myself, but at the last word I gazed at Xavier with my blank emerald eyes. Chapter 1 - Paris Junibe - Demon District "Ahhh....Just great...I broke a nail, too...Could this day get worse?" I huffed, fixing up my gel nails which, mind you, were rather expensive. Why was I here again? I wasn't a trouble-maker like the others. I was a celebrity among teens! A celebrity did NOT participate in blood-spewing games. Yuck. And blood is hard to get out of clothing! Just. My. Luck. I looked up the find that the recaps of the reapings were playing, but I couldn't be bothered to see others misfortunes. Mine were the most important right now! I mean, how could I keep my skin clean of blemishes out in a arena full of savage peasants? |
The trip to the train was completely uneventful, not that I expected much to happen with the daughter of our Leader was passed out and slung over a guards shoulder. Not exactly sure of the reason, must have tried to run away to avoid her likely death, but it was quite clear from the taser burns on her neck that she wasn't given the option to walk. The other two contestants, another male with entirely black wings and a short haired girl with gray wings, were quite and just followed along in stride towards the train. Once aboard everyone walked off into their own directions and picked a spot of their own, Amelia was laid down in a corner.
The guard that had brought Amelia looked at the rest of us, "Those TV monitors are going to be displaying the reaping recaps of everyone who was picked from each district. Our own district will also be displayed. Do not cause any problems on the train ride and everything will go smoothly. Tell Ms. Kunjui when she wakes up. Good luck to you all." With that said he strolled off the train and the stores were closed, shortly, behind him. Shizu glanced over at Amelia laying unconscious as she was beginning to squirm slightly, no doubt the taser effect was waring off and she would be waking up soon. His eyes shifted down the train car to the other two and they were both sitting silently, but the awkward silence was broken as Amelia did in fact wake up. Shizu could see that she was feeling the initial pain of whatever left her unconscious as she gathered her wits, stretched and stood up but still she didn't let herself falter and kept herself together - "interesting," Shizu thought to himself, "very interesting." This girl, although it appeared her life was about looking the part and not being qualified for it, was definitely going to be someone to watch out for. He agains glanced down the car to see the reaction and mood of the other two as they noticed Amelia waking up. The girl had a very disgusted look upon her face, it would seem she had a personal grudge against Amelia but never one to assume Shizu just put it in the back of his mind for now. Shizu's thoughts were interrupted as Amelia had made her way over to him and began to talk. "H-hi. You're Shizuka right...? This is my first time meeting you. I guess you know who I am..." Shizuka gave her another quick up and down. "Call me Shizu. And yes I know who you are. Nice to meet you, although under the circumstances of where I might have to kill you..still nice nonetheless." Shizuka wasn't dumb, whether this girl was trying to play with him or not he was going to prepare himself the best way he knew how - be in charge of the situation and not let anyone get too close, hence the dark 'I may have to kill you' speech as an introduction to keep her on her toes. As he waited for her response he could see out of the corner of his eye that the girl had now strolled over to the guy and was talking, out of earshot, so he would have to be prepared in case they were forming an early alliance. Returning his attention to Amelia, Shizuka decided to make a 'friend.' "So tell me, why did you have to be carried onto the train while the rest of us walked?" |
Chapter 1 - Amelia Kunjui - Angel District
Wincing at how straight-forward his introduction was, I began to take in what kind of person he was like. He didn't seem too bad. Honest, perhaps...Unlike what my servants have been rambling on about. She didn't get what the big deal was with having darker colored wings...He was still a member of the district, and needed to be treated respectfully like everyone else. "Y-yeah. I'll probably be the first to be killed anyways." I answered back, chewing on my lower lip. I could still take the gross flavor of melon that came with having several different things applied to my lips. Lip hydration cream, lip stick...Lip gloss. The minute I find a faucet and a change of clothing, I'm gonna shed off everything. "Nice to meet, yes..." I paused, as I was asked about why I, the leaders daughter, was carried inside while the three others walked. I flinched, as his question seemed a bit hostile with the way he worded it. However, I managed to answer truthfully while glancing upwards to the TV screens. "I slapped my mother, so they tazored me." I answered, rubbing the burn mark at the back of my neck. It was a good thing I was tolerant of pain. Pain usually came with having a body-shaper on twenty-four seven, burning leg hairs, and harsh chemicals being applied to every inch of my body. I was just used to pain, so the tazor had only been a moment of pain when I blacked out. Now the only evidence that I had been indeed tazored was the burn mark it left. I was just beginning to speak again, when the buzz of the televisions interrupted me. I gave a curious look towards the others, to Shizu, and then the flat screens propped up on each wall. It was like we had no choice but to watch. When the screen flickered to the Vampire's government building, with the goverment leaders Calzus and Yuna, I immediately knew we were watching the reaping which had taken place. It was deep into the night there, and flames seemed to be the only source of light. Perhaps they were short on light bulbs... My eyes flickered with a hint of bewilderment, as I eyed two female participants which had taken the stage. Shiro and Marisa...Hm. Just by watching the fidgeting motions of Marisa and the gestures Shiro was making, I came to a conclusion and shared it with Shizu. "The small one, Marisa...She's probably the most dangerous out of the group. She's pretending to look innocent and weak. Shiro, that taller one, doesn't seem very level-headed. Bloodthirsty." I had been good at reading people since I was young. It was a trait my mother had developed to me, so I could tell good people from bad. Liars from the innocent. I would be good at interrorgation. Chapter 1 - Nokoto Osoku - Human District Silence is what follows after my proclaimation. A few people cough nervously, and immediately I regret having said that. I probably just put a huge target on my back. However, I do not show how on-edge I am, and I quickly stride away from the stage and towards the guarded subway entrance. I am even more paranoid of everything now. Especially of the other three participants at my back. You did it now, Nokoto... The subway station is probably the most depressing place in the world, which also fits the entire situation. Four people heading off to be ulimately killed. What? Not like the Gods would have the subway full of beautiful flowers and bunny rabbits...Though, that would be nice, truthfully. You'd have to be stinking rich for the Gods to allow for your family to own a pet of any kind. And when you do have a pet, you go to great lengths to make sure that pet lives for a LONG time. Gods like to suck the rich dry of money, and pets have funerals, so...The funeral is probably worth more than years worth of food. Taking in a deep breath of air, I walked into the subway train, and immediately my eyes gazed around at the beautiful leather chairs, glass tables, and flat-screen televisions propped up on each section. Suddenly, I heard the doors close behind me, and I found that the other three had pushed past me while I stood awkwardly at the sliding doors. "Oops..." I mumbled, carefully beginning to turn when suddenly a strong, brutal force struck me by the neck and held me against what was probably the back of a chair. In astonishment, I grabbed the force that had my neck, but it was simply useless to detach myself. It was the other female participant -Jin- whom had my neck. Her eyes were of pure hatred, and she sucked her hand tighter around my neck. I managed a short gasp, as she began to shout at me. "Listin here, you little runt! You have no right...NO RIGHT. To say you're gonna win these games! Nokoto Osoku, you'll be the first person I kill in that arena!" I was then thrown by her grip, and found myself in the grip of the male participant; Fausto. He didn't say anything, but carefully righted me back on my feet. Jin was now throwing out profanity to everything and everyone. Some profanity which should not be repeated, even by the most gruesome of people. |
-Raike took up a whole set of four chairs on the train, laying on his back with his hands behind his head. The seats were pretty uncomfortable, but he was determined to get some kind of sleep. The occasional bumps and jolts of the moving train caused him to have to reposition himself a lot, making him growl, and glare at everyone looking at him. For some reason, they had not taken his hunting knife, so he took it out of its makeshift sheath, and began to absentmindedly sharpen it, looking at the others around him. 3 faces too many he didn't know, and didn't care to know, so he went back to sharpening his knife.
For some reason, his thoughts began to drift towards his district, and he sighed. They wouldn't really care if he died in the arena, and he doubted they would care if he won anyway. Either way, he might be better off dead, he thought, grunting. He then began to wonder about what was going on in the other trains, or even the other districts. What had been their reaction when their contestants had been chosen, and when they had boarded the train.- "Heh, it was probably better than my boarding. I just flipped the mayor, and everyone in that district off, so maybe it's better for my health not to return. Still.... I wonder what kind of people I will be facing. I refuse to have my blood sucked by any vampire, and also to be seduced by some angel. The demons will definently be a challenge, so I will have to use whatever wits I posess in order to defeat them. I have been hearing about some kind of psycho vampire girl from their district, so it might be better for me to avoid her..." |
Xavier had only listened to part of the broadcast as it didn't really matter to him. Win or lose. Life or death. He just didn't care. There would be no 'strategy' that he would use at all. He wouldn't attempt to study each and every opponent to ensure victory. Xavier, to put it frankly, just doesn't care. But why; you may ask. Well, he never had a very enjoyable life. He had noone really. Not even something as simple as a friend. During the reapings, when he was called, most -if not all- the demons were confused when they heard his name. He was forgotten among his own race. But in reality, he was never forgotten because someone had to know he existed first. His mother and father had both died before they even had a chance to meet him. The only knowledge he had of his family were in a medical book. And the only info was how they died. The book: Dale Harrah (Status: Deceased) : Cause of death, Was infected when shards of silver were placed inside his drink a day before his child had been born. Theresa Harrah: (Status: Deceased) Her demise had been the same as her spouse; Poisoning. What was odd about this part was that there was a tidbit of information about him supposedly surviving in her womb, when he should've died along them. Surprisingly, her son that was and is to be named Xavier, had somehow chosen inside the womb to reject his mothers nutrients that night. And miraculously, he lived. This is still a medical anomaly that is to be studied. The other pages were completely unreadable. He had been pulled out of his little daydream when he had heard Bernkastel muttering something and how she was looking straight at him. "Yes?" |
Chapter 1 - Bernkastel Vermillia - Demon District
Looking Xavier over, I moved my attention back to the screen as a sort of survey was being broadcasted. People in the Gods district were voting on who they thought were going to win the games. I raised my eyebrows slightly as I saw the scoring so far. Most obviously, I was the highest on the charts. It was who was below me that had me frowning. The little girl from the vampire district...Marisa. Just below me by a couple hundred voters, which wasn't much. Then was Ryuu and Xavier battling for third, Kaito, Shiro and Shizuka...The list went on. Oddly enough, Nokoto was on last place. Perhaps the little remark on winning wasn't enough. "...Nothing...Nothing important." I mumbled, resting my chin on the base of my palm. "I'm wondering how you're so high on the rankings...And that Marisa girl, as well...My ranking doesn't surprise me, but it's probably not going to go as planned this year." I paused for a long while, and gazed out the window to find forests and birds flying past so they were simply a blur. "These games have become boring for me... So, I will not be the winner this year." I was speaking the truth on that note. Living had become only an obstacle now. The games became a boring way of adrenaline halfway through the second one. It was simply luck that the one she had been stuck with on the final two, had been crazy in love with her. Hence the 'crazy', he commited suicide right in front of her, so she could win and live on. However, Bern had had no such feelings for the boy. He could have won if he had attacked her. Not like she was fighting him. |
Ryuu needed to do something to occupy his time. The train was boring, and Ryuu was never comfortable with sitting and waiting. He was a man of action, and hated sitting still. Slightly irritated and bored, Ryuu turned his attention to the televison screen, which was broadcasting a survey in the Gods district on who they thought would win the games. To Ryuu's surprise and delight, he wasn't first, which was a good thing.
They voted on what they did know, and that, in Ryuu's thought, wasn't much. His parents, while they were alive, had been burying evidence upon evidence of his heinous acts. So what they did know was the bits that was getting out, which wasn't too much. If Ryuu was the highest on the charts, he would have been disappointed. That would have meant that even with the downgrading of knowledge, he was still considered the favorite. In this way, he knew there was at least some challenges. And just as he thought, the other one, Bernkastel Vermillia, the one who had been participating many times before, was right on top. She was followed by Marisa of the vampire district, and then Xavier, with Ryuu close after. Ryuu remembered not to judge his competition from their looks, but he couldn't help but cringe a bit in disappointment. Pah!, he thought, this is my competition? A petty vampire? Ryuu turned his thoughts to the other two in the polls. Both were from the Demon Districts, sitting in this very train. He felt excitement fill him. He thought he'd get a bit more knowledge on his soon-to-be enemies. Besides, he had absolutely nothing else to do, and no one around to strangle, so he was bored. Ryuu got up and walked towards the others. He looked ahead at the one sitting alone. He turned his face in disgust. No fighter at all. He didn't even know what she was doing. Ryuu reminded himself that these were troublemakers, not fighters. Ryuu had just been constantly putting the two together because he was actually both. He sat down in the seat adjacent to the two, who were apparently conversing. He sat and looked at them intently, more specifically at Bernkastel. She had done this before, and won. More than once, in fact. He opened his mouth and spoke. "Woman, you have done this before. You will tell me what I want to know. I have not really ever before had the pleasure of fighting and killing the other lower-races. Which would you say are the most challenging to kill? Angels? Or perhaps Vampires? I doubt the pathetic humans are of any consequence? Or...would it be unfortunate to say that demons tend to be the obvious stronger race, which would mean the most I would have to look forward to is...you...three?" Ryuu's heart pounded a bit, getting excited with every passing thought of the upcoming slaughter. Hopefully, there would be a challenge. Ryuu looked at her intently. Attractive as she was, Ryuu dared not lower his guard. She had done this all before, and won. She would most certainly attempt to do it again, unless Ryuu has something to say about it. |
Xavier simply shrugged what she said off, although inwardly he became filled with disgust. She wasn't tired of the games, she was bored of the games. Bored. Bored of killing people. That meant she had liked killing someone. Liked. She even killed other species. Ones that had no affect as to whether she would win or not. Win. This is what Xavier is going to do. And he didn't care about the stupid rankings.
He turned back towards Bernkastel, ready to speak something else when the other boy moved to them. Ryuu. The one who had a sickening thrill with killing other people. Sickening. This is what Ryuu was. Taking a thrill to killing someone. Killing. This is what Xavier planned to do, to Ryuu. |
Chapter 1 - Bernkastel Vermillia - Demon District
Just as I was awaiting Xavier to speak, another man slid into a leather chair by us, and began attempting a threatening conversation with me. I only stood straight with my gaze fixated on a tea-cup in which a servant on the train had set down for me. I picked up the tiny china cup after he was finished his works, and took a small sip with my eyes closed. "Threaten me if you will, but it is quite obvious that I could beat you to the pace. I am not a woman. I am a demon." I set down my cup silently, and gazed at Ryuu with my emotionless emerald eyes. "If you want to have a decent conversation, with the answers you are looking for...I suggest you call me by my name." Resting my left elbow on my arm rest, I pressed my cheek into my gathered fist. I hated these types of people. The type who thought that they could get whatever they want through poor threats and violence. "...Besides the fact." I looked between Xavier and Ryuu before twirling my dark, raven black hair around my fingers. "There are no weak districts in my experience. Only weak people. Each person has their own unique judgement on a person, so that is why I can not tell you accurate information." My gaze trailed over to Paris, whom was getting furious at a male servant for not having a certain type of tea on stock. "....." People could ask me all they want, and I could give them the same answer. "But in my opinion, the vampires are the ones to worry about...But I will tell you this." I clasped my fingers together, and take on a serious tone. "I call the girl. Kill anyone you desire, but I will kill the girl named Marisa." "...That being said, I do not wish to kill anyone else. Never seen the past few games? I do not kill directly. I let the arena's tricks do that for me...." My gaze reached for Xavier momentarily, before I continued. "I have only killed one other person directly in my life. Two will be the total, when I die." "Now, if you'll excuse us, Ryuu. I was having a conversation with Xavier. Go harrass Paris, since I never will be in the mood for your voice." |
Ryuu looked at her, angered. Ryuu Akuma had the reputation of a brute, and the smallest things could set him off like a grenade: a misspoken phrase, and insult, a slight fowl look on the face. Ryuu smiled, but his expression was clearly not one of amusement, or happiness. He grew angry, very quickly. Nevertheless, he tried to smile with the infuriation building within him. He got up and walked right in front of her, knelt down and spoke into her ear.
"You think I was threatening you? You don't know threats. Of course, you will very soon. I care not how you survived and won these events last time around, or the times before. All I know is, I will dethrone you. You've had your fun, but now it's time for mine. The last thing you will see will be me standing over your soon to be broken body, as much as it saddens me to have to kill such a pretty one as you." He leaned closer in. "Moreover, I take no orders. I will kill who I please when I please it, and if that means I shall kill the Marisa girl first, then so shall it be." Ryuu leaned away, before smiling, "Thanks for the information...Bernkastel." He recalled the name from the TV. Ryuu went back to his old seat at the back of the train. In usual circumstances, Ryuu probably would have attacked her and attempted to drop her where she was, but in these situations, Ryuu kept his calm, for now. But what Bernkastel had not realized is that Ryuu had already painted a target upon her. His hunt for her has already began, and Ryuu "The Rhino" Akuma does not slow down, he does not falter, he does not stop, until his opponent is killed, or he himself is. |
Not nearly a second Ryuu had finished his little rant, Xavier gave a snort that rang throughout the cabin. That boy was the one of the most idiotic people he had ever seen in his life. If not the most. Ryuu obviously was going to overestimate himself and that would be his complete downfall. Over estimating himself, underestimating his opponent. That's his weakness in a nutshell. Anyways, how stupid is this boy?! First off, threatening the two time winner of the Population Games. Two, he actually thinks that he'll kill anyone when he wants too. Another loud snort came from Xavier. Pfft, yah right...Idiot. Three, he sounds like as if he wants to kill everyone in the games. What a dumb piece of crap? His last thoughts he spoke to himself. "......he's such a dumb ass....."
|
Rai reflected back on the events that recently happened and how he got onto the train. He remembered the leader’s daughter, he even saw her slap her mother, probably because she sent her off to her likely death. The other two people selected, another male with blue tips at the end of his wings and a shorthaired girl with gray wings, and he wished that he could’ve had a prideful walk towards the train. A few seconds after the rest of them had sat down; Amelia was placed or dropped on her seat.
After Amelia was dropped the guard who was with her then said, "Those TV monitors are going to be displaying the reaping recaps of everyone who was picked from each district. Our own district will also be displayed. Do not cause any problems on the train ride and everything will go smoothly. Tell Ms. Kunjui when she wakes up. Good luck to you all." Rai peeped at Amelia on her seat, moving out of discomfort and that just symbolized that the taser’s effect was wearing off. Rai then simply scoped out the competition, with no one else concentrating on anything besides Amelia. Rai saw the girl stand up and simply shrug off her pain, and Rai made a mental note to watch out for her, because she had potential. The other girl looked upon Amelia with loathing, it would seem she had something against Amelia and by his hypothesis, she was probably rebellious, and he laughed on his insides thinking about two opposites both in the same competition, well, as far as he knew. Rai then watched Amelia walk to Shizuka, and then the other girl, he remembered that her name was Pewita, or Pewi he thought she liked to be called. "Yo, Kaito, right? Why are ya hanging over here and not with the others?" Pewita said as she slid down a bit too close to him and blinked her violet eyes at him. "Pretty interesting, the selections this year." She added as she moved a hand through her hair. Kaito then looked at her from head to toe, and just when he was about to act with hostility, he remembered that these were death games and that friendship would be very useful to him, at least until he was done with her. " I'm not good with people." Rai said replying to her first question. "You can call me Rai, I hate my birth name. Also, interesting isn’t something that could even encompass the fact that we have Ms. Dollfaced over there." Rai said while smiling at her, turning on the charm that he had but never showed. Rai then made a mental note to become Shizu’s ally, just to make sure that he wouldn’t be defenseless. Rai then began thinking about the other reapings as he saw the other races then picking their own contestants. Rai then examined two female participants that had gone on stage. Shiro and Marisa were their names, at least as far as Rai knew. "Marisa is more than she seems, she is probably very powerful and Shiro, is a bit off his rocker if I had to say so." Rai simply thought to himself. |
Chapter 1 - Bernkastel Vermillia - Demon District
I was hardly fazed by his cleaner threats, and I simply sat there as he coaxed words of death into my ear and mind. A smile crawled onto my face ever so lightly, and my eyes became brighter. "Looks like this year will be adrenaline-rushing...I do not scare over death, Ryuu. I scare that my plans work too well to be legal." That was it. With those words, I had sealed the fact that Ryuu was my enemy, and not one to help. "Two people to kill now, I suppose. Thank you for the compliment, but, I do not flatter others when they are not in the least bit needed in flattery. Watch the trees above your head." I finished, watching him walk off. The air was now a little tense, and I picked up my tea cup, only to set it back down without a taste. "Hm...He made my tea run cold. Such a waste..." I looked at Xavier, as he muttered something to himself, and I gave a curious look into his face. "You think so too, hm?" I lean closer to Xavier. "How about we form an alliance? We will both gain from it, and..." I pause to look at Ryuu, who seemed to now be occupied. "If we end up being the final two, you will not have to worry about me overtaking you. You help me take out the enemies, and I will protect your back for the crown." Chapter 1 - Pewita Humoi - Angel District Squinting my eyes at Rai, I couldn't help but let out a smile. "Rai? Oddly enough, I prefer that name as well." What was he getting at...? I tucked the hair on my left side behind my ear, and glanced at Amelia whom was talking with Shizu. "Amelia? Yea, I wasn't expecting that either. Remind me to kill her off first, will you?" I smirked, and leaned back just as a nervous female servant placed a tray of sweets at our table. I stared at them for a moment; the lush chocolate cake looked good...But so did that apple crisp...What about those lemon squares? They all seemed rather expensive, but I held back my hand and only looked. |
Shizuka watched Amelia carefully as she answered his previous question, definitely someone with a fight in her that's ready to be unleashed - she will be someone valuable to have in my favor until it gets closer to the end. Shizu returned his attention to her as she began speaking again.
"The small one, Marisa...She's probably the most dangerous out of the group. She's pretending to look innocent and weak. Shiro, that taller one, doesn't seem very level-headed. Bloodthirsty." Shizu looked back up at the TV screen, it simply changing to enlarged pictures of each of the contestants with their names underneath. Shizu instantly picked out who he knew to be competition: Shiro, Marissa, Amelia, Bernkastel, Jin and Ryuu. Two vampires, two demons, an angel and a human - this years competition was definitely going to cause some stirring of the gods and bring sheer excitement to all of the districts for once. Shizuka returned his attention back to Amelia, her gaze still focused on the monitors, and made the decision to lay down his offer. "Amelia. I will say this only once and expect a simple yes or no answer," Briefly he paused and cleared his throat before continuing. "This years competition is looking promising, at least in the eyes of the gods who want to see bloodshed between the districts for our ancestors past mistakes. Nevertheless, I am offering you a pact of truce until it is absolutely necessary for me to kill you in order to survive. I don't know your motivation for this competition, but I certainly have my own and I am aiming to win. So if you'd like to watch each others backs for the time being, now is the time to do so." Shizu stood up and stretched a little and began walking around and then heading towards the other two competitors, but first he stopped and turned back again to Amelia. "If you do say no, however, I will not hesitate to kill you when the opportunity presents itself. And we both know that opportunity will not be missed." With that he continued his stroll to the other side of the train to find out what he could about the other two, neither of them looked to be anything worth worrying about though. |
Xavier had blinked quite a few times from Bernkastel's sudden proposal. What had suddenly provoked Bern to ask for an alliance with him? Him of all people? She had not seen him use any magic nor had she seen his melee abilities. The past winner had absolutely no idea if he could fulfill his end of the deal. Even if they shared a common hatred, why?
Okay, maybe he would have to think strategically. Not like the recluse he was. Xavier began to name off her strategic advances. 'She has a sort of intimidation radiating off of her, due to winning her past two Games....She can use her appearance to distract the opponents....And Bernkastel is strong....' Xavier snapped out of his little discussion within himself and looked at Bern with his brown eyes boring into her emerald ones. He was basically going to need to say yes. ".....Sure, Bernkastel......" Bern's new ally turned his head back towards the window almost immediately after his words. |
Chapter 1 - Bernkastel Vermillia (x) Xavier Harrah - Demon District (Joint Post)
Waiting for his answer, Bern fiddled with her tea cup, anc carefully examined the patterns woven into the rim. Of course, it was a 50-50 chance of his answer, so it may have been luck that he had agreed. As soon as he did, he immediately turned back to the window. Not good. I stood up abruptly, and flattened down my long black skirt. "No time to day dream. When we get to district five, we won't have very much time for chatting. Come along." Without even checking to see his reaction, I walked out of our gathering of chairs, and went to the very back of the compartment. Before a servant could stop me, I ripped the door open, and jumped along the iron pole keeping the train together. I slid away from the males grip and shouts, and disappeared into the next, empty compartment. Those servants should have expected something like this to happen, because I had done this exact same thing the other two times. Xavier watched as Bernkastel waltzed over into the other compartment, despite the servant's yells to stop. Bold is what she was. Well, people would be suspicious if they just went into another cabin alone so......He decided to put other thoughts of what they were going to do. A red blush and a flustered expression was faked by Xavier and he ran into the cabin. ~~~~~~~~ The pair of us appeared back in the compartment with everyone else about twenty minutes later; hands locked together. I nodded at Xavier, and my expression quickly changed from it's previous emotion, to blankness when I felt Ryuu's eyes upon us. "...." I kept Xavier's hand in my own, and pulled him along back to our section of the compartment. Looking outside the unblocked windows, we were passing through the vampire district. Meaning, we were only a about ten minutes away from being in district five. Xavier almost shot a glare at Ryuu, but quickly turned his gaze to Bernkastel's hand when they sat down. He was playing with her finger's; awaiting to stop in district five. Chapter 1 - Amelia Kunjui - Angel District (I'll edit this later) |
Ryuu sat for what seemed like hours to him. He did not take sitting down easily. He was a man of action, and sitting still was something he couldn't do, especially when he was in one of his 'moods', the mood for killing had been strong in him all morning, and his bloodlust was getting worse the more he thought about Bernkastel.
Suddenly, something happened. Bernkastel and Xavier had gone towards one of the other cabins. Ryuu sat up, thinking he would do something. He wanted to do something. Sitting for so long did not sit well with him. It wasn't long, though, before he realized what was really going on. He shook his head, and slumped back in his chair, his eyes gazing at Bernkastel and Xavier. I suppose everyone has needs, maybe some a but stronger than others. It's too bad they won't last long enough to enjoy it. Ryuu thought to himself. He looked out of the window, impatient as ever. He decided he couldn't sit any long. He sat up and started pacing back and forth through the corridor of the moving train, his eyes occasionally glancing at the two of them. His fists were in balls. To him, they were ants, and not just because Ryuu was a giant among them in stature, but he knew he could crush them like toothpicks given the chance, and there will be a chance. |
Never releasing his eyes from the other two across the way, Rai then picked out his competition from the taps, just from a look, Shiro, Marissa, Amelia, Bernkastel, Jin, Shizu, Amelia and Ryuu. This year’s competition would be intense to say the least. Amelia had pain tolerance, which was a very useful weapon, especially in these games.
Pewita then squinted her eyes at Rai, and then she smiled saying, "Rai? Oddly enough, I prefer that name as well.” She tucked some of her hair behind her ear and then she glanced at Amelia whom was talking with Shizuka. "Amelia? Yea, I wasn't expecting that either. Remind me to kill her off first, will you?" she then smirked. He let his mind go to reading Shizuka’s lips and he saw something about watching backs, and he knew that a pact was made, and he already thought to himself, “This is unfair!!! The games hadn’t started yet and he’s already forming alliances!! Well, then, two can play at this game.” Rai’s notion that Pewita had some sort of grudge, or dislike for Amelia, who he personally didn’t have anything against did not play in his favor, besides that, but in order to have a pawn in his game of chess, he had to play along, saying, “I will remind you and even assist you if you need it, which I doubt you do need, if you decide to help me out. I need someone to depend on, someone to watch my back, and I will return the favor. Will you help me out?” Rai then held out his hand as a show of friendship. Pewita then leaned back just as a female servant nervously placed a tray filled with sweets at our table. Pewita then stared at them for a moment, Rai only craving the lemon squares then added with a small smile, “Hungry? I’m craving some of these foods, of course, I’ll let you pick first.” Shizu then began strolling over to Rai and Pewita, and Rai then smiled thinking to himself as he began forming a plan on how to ally with Shizuka, “Mr. Rook, welcome to the games.” |
Chapter 1 - Amelia Kunjui - Angel District
There was a silence that followed soon after my announcement on competition, but Shizuka broke that silence, with what was a pact of truce in the arena. The way he worded it, sounded as though he was asking something like this: "We're going to make a truce, but once you're not useful anymore I'll get rid of you and win myself." This did not go unseen by myself, as I answered with a smile. "Oh, I'll probably be killed off long before that should happen. But yes, I accept the truce." It was a brief decision, but it was better than going into the arena alone; especially after overhearing the plans this year from my mother. Really, my truces were going for more than just those in the angel district. Though this may be her first time meeting demons, humans, and vampires in person...Well, the daughter of the government leader got special privileges, to say the least. Just because we had a truce, did not mean I was obligated to share information with him, which would be the difference between life and death. Only I and two others going into the arena knew this certain piece of info, so it would be obvious that I already had a truce with them; even before I was announced as a participant. It was a good skill, to think ahead. Gingerly, I decided to keep my distance from the grouping of participants, and I sat down on the opposite end as not to bother them. It was quite obvious that Pewita and Kaito had a truce already, so that meant there were two teams in the angel district. My thoughts trailed off to the plate of delicate sweets placed before me, and I dipped my finger into the frosting of a chocolate cupcake. I licked my finger experimentally, and smiled. "Sweet." Chapter 1 - Pewita Humoi - Angel District 'Well, that was rather easy...' I thought, partly listening to Rai, while the other half homed in on Amelia's conversation with Shizuka. When my ears began to buzz, I knew that it wouldn't be possible to take in two seperate conversations at a time. My attention went fully back to Rai, as he finished his little proclaimation. I hardly hesitated, and answered quickly before Shizuka came over from my other side. "Sure." I then reached over and grabbed the first finger-food I saw, which was the lemon square. Normally I would not eat sweets, but I suppose hunger got the best of me. I bit into the dessert, and I made a noise which was me being surprised by how sweet it was. I swallowed down my bite, before unpolitely shoving the rest in my mouth before Shizuka could even see a hint of my pleasure in lemon squares. He was with Amelia, so he was to be treated like he was Amelia herself. Of course, it seemed Rai had different plans seperate from mine, as he eyed the other boy. 'Don't make too many alliances, bud. You're gonna end up breaking a few, and people will be pissed. Like I am now.' |
Chapter 2 - Meet Your Allies and Enemies
Summary: You all have arrived in District Five. It is a place spilling to the core in misfit Gods that are set to work bringing you to your own personal hell, so I would act as polite as you possibly can. These people will be the first to judge you, so you do not want to make bad impressions on them. What with being in a tight compartment with the people you are either going to murder, or be murdered by, there will definitely be some tension. Will you be willing to make light conversation, or will you stay silent throughout the trip? What Will Be Happening?: * You will be arriving in different train stations from the other districts, but that doesn't mean you get any more alone time with the other three participants in yours. Cameras will be all over the place to flim your ever move and broadcast LIVE around the world. * You are going to be led by a group of Gods to the center of the district, where you will board a huge helicopter; best part, the other districts will be in the same helicopter, and you will be seperated only by air and a couple of bored guards at your fingertips. Angels: Spoiler:
Demons: Spoiler:
Vampires: Spoiler:
Humans: Spoiler:
*This chapter will focus more on eyeing your neighbouring districts, and how well you will react to the situation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 2 - Bernkastel Vermillia - Demon District Within minutes of my return from our conversation, I could feel the train physically halt beneath me, even though the change in speed was so minimal. I took a look out of the window beside me, to realize just what awaited me in district five this time around. It didn't seem to have changed much since my first visit, and even if it did change, it's not like it would affect us, right? This is simply the checkpoint to go to the next continent by helicopter. Oh right. The holicopter ride. That should be pretty fun this year. Let's just hope it won't get violent like last year...From the corner of my eyes, I saw the servants beginning to gather up Paris and Ryuu. "Xavier?" I cleared my throat, and lowered my voice. "Let's not show the world just yet..." I nodded at him, so he would hopefully get at what I was hinting at. It would be better to let it out during the interviews... Before I could add anymore, two servants came over and ordered us to prepare to leave. The moment they turned away to deal with a complaining Paris, I held Xavier's hand again, and whispered three words. When the train finally came to a stop at the station, I let go of Xavier's hand hesitantly, and followed the other participants to the exit. The moment we stepped out onto the platform, the only thing in our view-like always-were robot cameras. They all hovered into our faces for close-ups, and their lense spun around as though they were trying to identify who we were. It was probably the most annoying thing in the world, but I would have to deal with it. I stood my ground with my face flat and emotionless, and the cameras slowly hovered away to take a better look at Paris. At least we had the celebrity here. As long as she was there, the cameras were going to be buzzing in her air-space. After all, Paris was known all over, not just in the demon district, for her modeling and awards. She had the absolute perfect body and perfect record, so news groups were probably going insane with her being in the games. I could already picture the sort of designs the games designer would plaster onto her skin. Something to show as much skin as possible, and to make her appear even more sexy. These games might just be better than my first... Thank God it didn't take long for the Gods to show up. Like always, our leaders were two huge men. Not huge as in they were overweight, but huge as in gigantic. District five wasn't technically misfits, but people whom were too dangerous to be placed in cities. District five was pretty much a military base to keep things in order in the four districts. Don't you love how much we're completely controlled? Well, I don't, so that was why I was there. Why they were trying not a second time, but a third time to kill me. The first man was named Nixtus if I remembered correctly, but the second one's name would always slip my mind. It didn't matter. Not like we were able to talk with them without getting in trouble. Nixtus was waving the cameras away angrily, as he glared at me. Oh, maybe it would be a good time to say that I sort of...Hit him last year, I could still see the long scar across his bare upper arm. "You four are going to cooperate and follow." He said in his matter-of-fact voice. His crimson eyes scanned over to Paris, and I saw him visually flinch. Was Paris popular with the Gods as well? I suppose so. A very interesting fact that I would have to put to my advantage sometime. So, we were off in our crammed little group. Crammed not only because Nixtus decided bring us straight through a city, but also because the cameras were being pests and literally hovering under our feet. It was like our legs were going to matter to the Gods voting, and sponsors...But, I did not object and restrained myself when one began making constant clicking noises around me. It was taking pictures of me! I pretended not to notice, but I'm pretty sure it did a worm's view of what's past my legs. Got to love these things. I didn't have to look past Ryuu to know that Paris was simply in heaven with the cameras. I could see her posing as she walked, and allowing the cameras to take pictures of every inch of her body. Though, I was unsure why anyone would want to see close-ups of her neck or nose. The city was more like a huge factory, and it wasn't the prettiest city I've had to pleasure to walk through. The air was smoggy with factory smoke, while the streets were crowded with soldiers and workers hustling around. When I saw a wrench fly past after hitting the camera that was now rolling down my ankles, I popped a smile and ten million lenses fixated on me. Immediately, I lowered my lips as if nothing happened, and just stared at the back of Ryuu's head as we walked single file down. Xavier was behind me, so I couldn't see what he was making of all of this... Probably just as annoyed as me. Because district five is so small, it didn't take long to reach the barrier seperating the city from the helicopter platform. Remember those helicopters around a thousand years ago? Completely renewed now. I learned the hard way that these things came equiped with weapons on the INSIDE. I rubbed my shoulder unconsciously, and eyed the clump of metal. Helicopters were now made soundless, but from inside they still made a slight buzz. Apparently old helicopters were so loud, people would have to cover their ears and they could be heard from miles away. Not this one. This one was sorta shaped...Like a taco. A taco with insect legs and propellers on the top and sides. Good image? Well, I think the designers could have made it a little more eye-positive. Armed soldiers were lined up from us to the helicopter; as if they really expected us to attempt escape now. Slowly, we were lead to the honking hole that led inside, and were pushed in one after another. What surprised me, is that this year, we weren't the second ones to arrive. Inside I found eight people looking at us. The vampires obviously, but also the humans. I raised my eyebrows, but didn't say a word as I slid in beside the girl named Marisa. The room was an exact square, and leather benches were rounding it. Only three walls were visible, but as soon as everyone was aboard, the fourth wall would slide into place and we would be trapped like a rat in a mouse trap. I placed my hands on my lap, and took a quick glance at everyone. Marisa looked completely terrified sitting beside me. Shiro, the girl beside her was looking at me with bloodthirsty eyes, and Nokoto...Looked completely content. A very interesting group this year. How many times have a said interesting? Well, it didn't matter. It wasn't like it was exciting. Just...eye-catching? I didn't use the word this time. Remind me to expand my vocabulary, would you? I began taking low breaths, and that's when I smelt it. Roses so strong it was intoxicating. I looked up to find a white rose being held towards me by...Nixtus. He had an evil smirk on his face, Man, the Gods really can hold grudges, couldn't they? Without any warning, he pushed the thorned stem of the rose down my shirt and between my breasts so only the glossy petals were visible, while tossing a small candy on my lapel. "Die this time around, will ya?" He patted my cheek harshly, and roared with laughter. "I bet alot on you dying this year! Don't ruin my wins, Be-rn-ka-st-el~" With that, he quickly stomped out of the helicopter, and I was left there stunned and staring at the small candy. Looking closely...Heh. Caramel. Caramel which would have milk as an ingredient. The son of a...I took the candy between my fingers, and looked at the wrapper, before tossing it into Marisa's hands boringly. "Enjoy." I muttered, not even bothering to remove the rose now scratching at my chest. These guys really couldn't wait for me to die. |
Ryuu's heart was pounding as he felt the train slowly come to a halt. He was beyond excited. This was what he had wanted to do for years: pummel the other races to a crisp, especially the angels and humans. He knew he would soon get his chance. Finally, Ryuu would settle for not just murdering his own kind, but the lesser races as well.
Ryuu is a killer. His lust for blood and urge to harm stems since he was little, and it doesn't quell, no matter what. However, killing his own race, which he still finds fascinating, leaves a bad taste in his mouth, but the feeling of soon killing the lesser races made his heart race, and his mind wander. In a while, Ryuu would soon have the time of his life. As the train halted, a servant came up to Ryuu and told him to get off. Ryuu never liked to be commanded, but felt obliged to contain himself for later. Ryuu stepped out of the train, not exactly sure what he would have to prepare for. Ryuu was suddenly flooded with robot cameras. Although he didn't mind the attention at first, he found himself getting annoyed, very fast. He felt his arm rising up on instinct to tear up one of the cameras, but stayed it. He knew it wouldn't be a good idea to cause a ruckus, not right now, at least. Ryuu wore a somewhat angry expression on his face, but he was also beyond excited. The Reaping was going to be the best times of his life, he knew it, and if he would die there, he would die doing what he loved: beating people to a pulp. Ryuu smiled a bit as he noticed most of the cameras were around Paris. A fact he was thankful for, as they brought the cameras a bit away from his face. Still, some hovered around him. He took a quick look around, then grabbed one of the cameras and threw it off to the side. Ryuu hoped no one noticed that. Normally he wouldn't care, but this was a delicate situation. It was then that two "men" showed up, if you can call them that. They stood a bit higher than Ryuu, and Ryuu was already a giant among the others. But Ryuu wasn't intimidated. He never was. One of the two Gods spoke, but Ryuu wasn't really paying attention, so he didn't hear what he said. He followed, silently, holding back a smile on his face. Then suddenly, he heard clicking noises. He looked around the see the cameras hovering around, taking pictures of him. That's it, he thought. Ryuu had done his best to control himself, but he couldn't stand doing nothing any long. He grabbed one of the hovering cameras and ripped it apart, then threw it to the ground. An angry expression on his face, he halted in the line for a second, examining the other cameras, before calming himself and continuing. He walked through the city, looking more like a factory, but Ryuu didn't really pay attention anyways. He was more mentally visualizing the coming up games in his mind than he was the city. They reached the barrier of the city, and proceeded to a helicopter. Going into the helicopter, Ryuu barely made sense of anything else around him, until he got inside. There sitting were eight people, four of them vampires, and four of them..humans, Ryuu thought in his mind. Ryuu looked at the humans and a made a face of disgust. He didn't know he had to share a ride with these lesser races. Then, he smiled at them. Perhaps Ryuu would get a chance to do some exercise before the Reaping began. Ryuu sat down at the end of some vampires, not willing to sit next to any humans, but sat across from them, not eying them with a smile. He eyed particularly at one name Nokoto, and another named Raike. He was easily larger and taller than any of them. In fact, he was probably larger and taller than anyone in the whole helicopter, a fact he was proud of. The race Ryuu hated the most were the humans. So much more than the others, in fact. It was beyond prejudice, or hate. It was despise. He looked at them as unworthy as even his servants. He looked at them as less than dirt itself. Ryuu carefully contemplated how to go about this. He could attempt to kill them now, but that would ruin the whole occasion of the games. Then again, Ryuu wasn't really much for grand occasion, although he wasn't against them either. He spoke towards the humans, in a cold voice. "It must be terrible to be such a pathetic race. I'm curious how it feels to have to go to sleep every night as a human. Well soon, you will all be asleep, permanently..." Ryuu waited for responses. He didn't necessarily give a sh*t what others said about him, but he liked to make it seem like he does. That way, he can have an excuse to hold a grudge, that will later turn out to haunt them. And Ryuu "The Rhino" loves, and I mean, loves hold grudges. He didn't know how all these races would react to each other here, but Ryuu had a feeling in his head: one of these people here wouldn't make it to the games, Ryuu wouldn't allow it. |
"....." Silence. That is Xavier followed my conversation with Bernkastel. The only noise he could hear was the sound of the train slowing to a halt, and yet that was still quite low in volume. I guess Xavier can thank his demon blood for hearing that miniscule noise. He looked like a completely blank shell, that wasn't made for thinking, nor fighting. Some would say that gives him a disadvantage, others would claim that as an advantage. On one end, nobody can clearly estimate his strength and go in while underestimating him, but on the other end, he'd get less sponsors and while others would be getting care packages, he'd have to live off the land. Both are interesting to see play out. "...."
Once the train had finally made itself to a complete stop, Xavier immediately stood up to leave the train, but the servants were to busy dealing with the princess. No, don't actually think he's calling Paris a princess. It's called sarcasm. She always had to have things her way. She freaked out when there was about a nanometer more of sugar then she wanted before, and the servant had gotten no end to her yelling. Disgraceful. Xavier felt Bern grip his hand and whisper to him.... Xavier was the last one in line when they had exited the train, and he was met with the most annoying things he's ever seen in his life. The stupid robot cameras. Gosh, if you looked in a dictionary Xavier wrote, these mechanical monstrosities would pe the picture for annoying. Maybe you'd find them in ubnoxious too. Once the camera's made their rounds over both Ryuu and Bernkastel, they both swarmed Paris and me. They chose Paris for her entire body, but for Xavier, they just wanted to see his eyes. The camera's kept hovering not two centimeters away from Xavier's chest and would constantly look up, hoping for a chance too look at his eyes. It took all of his might not to throw one to the ground and smash it. He saw two men approaching them and he inwardly sighed in relief. Maybe, the camera's would go swarm them instead of him. He was already at the point where he'd crush one under his feet, and he didn't need to get in trouble. They were gigantic and stood an incredible height over most in our district. Although, Xavier wasn't intimidated. It's not as if he was thinking he could beat them in a fight, but he just wasn't scared. Because of the camera's annoying the hell out of him, he didn't hear a word that the men said, but Xavier knew to follow the rest of the group. He wasn't dumb. Xavier was keeping his eyes glued to the city around him. He was always used to the cramped, compressed piece of space that he had to live in, but this. This was incredible! Large, towering buildings were across the horizon. Like nothing Xavier had ever seen in his life! Smoke stacks filled the air, but it was still an amazing place to the demon. A new world he'd say. At hearing the words spoken to Bernkastel, Xavier was beyond pissed off. He just wanted to go up to the man and snap his neck in half. It was bad enough to even bet a penny on someone, but when telling someone to die for the sake of money?! That's much more than revolting, that a new word needs to be made for it. How dare he say that to Bern?! Once they boarded the helicopter, Xavier had no idea where to sit down. The seats around Bernkastel were taken, and there was no way in hell he was going to sit by Ryuu. That idiot is gonna get himself killed with his arrogance. Xavier's going to get a good laugh when he dies. Especially if it's by his hands. That would be very funny. He saw that the only open seat next to someone was Paris, and he didn't want to sit with someone from another district. Not that he was prejudice, it would just be awkward for him and the people next to him. It was going to be weird sitting next to the celebrity, but it'd have to do. |
-Raike groaned as the train slowly began to cease its movement. He had given up on trying to study his opponents a few hours before, and had just tried to sleep again. Whats worse was that he had just found the perfect position for it too, which was extreemely difficult for people riding the train. He slid his legs over, and stood, grasping a pole for support while waiting for the train to stop, yawning a bit. The servent that usually called for the contestants to get ready, came, but saw that Raike was already up, and so he returned to wherever he had come from.
As soon as his boot hit the ground, he could hear the thousing clicking sounds of cameras taking pictures, as well as see the men holding video cameras. Throughout his life, he had never been very photogenic, and this? Well, it ryally pissed him off. He remebered how the situation was set, and restrained himself from attacking the camera men. When the gods came up, and began to speak, Raike zoned out, coming back to earth and hearing something about getting to some sort of chopper. He didn't know where it was, so he ended up following the rest of the group, still keeping a scowl on his face, and a hand in his pocket. When it came into sight, and the group piled on, Raike could already feel the tension in the small space. The demons and vampires were glaring at the humans, and the angels didn't seem to be doing anything. He began to wonder why the humans had chosen to only accept angels as friends, it didn't really seem right. The demons have strength on their side, and vampires had some sort of power, he didn't know, or care to know. As he turned to look in front of him, he saw one of the demons glaring specifically at him. -Raike stared right back, giving an even colder glare, and responding to his words with his own frigid tone.- "Well, Horns, it feels pretty good going to sleep as a human, and also living as one. Also, I don't really plan to die here, so sorry if that put a dent in your plans or whatever. But right now, I don't have time to talk to you, Hellboy. Your threats are shallow, and boring, and you obviously have a high opinion of yourself. Just because you were the best in YOUR district, you shouldn't get too cocky, it might get you killed." |
Chapter 2 - Amelia Kunjui - Angel District
Now, just because I'm the daughter of the Angel's district leader, did not mean I was prepared for the treatment we got on the ending train ride. At least half a dozen servants swarmed into the room from God knows where, and were cattling us to the main exit at the center of the train. I had been too busy thinking, to realize that we had already stopped, and the outside world was frozen back into place, instead of the blurred forest I had been watching with interest, Speed always fascinated me, especially when it came to how quickly my mother's servants could make me look to be in my thirties. Speed was so underrated.... I looked up from my little day dreaming, to find that Pewita had grabbed my wrist, and flung me to be the first to exit. What...? I was confused at first, until of course the magnetic sliding doors broke apart, and two dozen little hovering cameras shoved into my air-space. It took effort just to leave the train's opening, and even then, I couldn't see anything beyond the annoying machines. Noises were droned out from their buzzing and clicking, but a nearby smash hinted the fact that somebody had gotten irritated. But, I was too concerned with the cameras down at my feet to worry about something someone had done. "H-hey! " I nudged a few away from me with my feet, and folded my arms around me protectively. I hated cameras. Loathed them. Ever since my mother was in power; cameras everywhere. I'm pretty sure there are still pictures of me at age six, having a bath with my dogs...Somewhere in cyber-space, anyways. For some pedophiles to find. No wonder I wasn't allowed outside without a handful of guards at my disposal... Abruptly, a wave of cameras were smashed to my left, and I felt air rush past my face. Now looking at me with snake-like eyes was probably the most dangerous people I had ever had the pleasure to do me a favour. A God. He wasn't directly from the God's district, looking at the clothing...But a powerful God nonetheless. He had a powerful upper body, and his arms were literally ripped with muscles. He must have taken out at least ten cameras with that one arm swing, because upon further examination of my left, some weren't exactly weren't built to be smashed against cement. I swallowed nervously, and to my relief, the other cameras backed away considerably to make room for yet another body-building God. They were very threatening to me, to say the least. They hadn't said anything to me, nor the other participants, so there was an awkward feeling as though we were going to end up like those scraps of clicking metal. Looking behind me, I could see Pewita, Shizuka, and Kaito in that order. Pewita's fists were bunched up in irritation, and a sparking piece of iron was at her feet. Suddenly I felt sorry for the robot. "Sorry about the paparazzi, miss Kunjui" The first God spoke out, waving to the cameras which now formed a perfect circle around our group. His low, ghastly voice was rather intimidating as well. Thank goodness he wouldn't be in the arena...I would be dead in flat, ten seconds. But, he seemed nice enough; giving me an apology even though he was probably betting on our lives mere hours earlier. But, I wouldn't have to worry about pleasing the crowd and getting more sponsors. I always had my mom---Oh. I smacked my forehead unconsciously, and closed my eyes. Right...Sort of *****-slapped my own mother back there...Not good sponsor-wise in her pockets...And I doubt she would have a change in heart after saying that I hated her. I really had to watch my mouth when it came to literal life-or-death situations.... I muttered something under my breath, but even I did not know what I was supposed to mean. With my royalty appearance, I probably had next to none on the sponsors scale. Sponsors money, equals wheither I die from starvation or poisoning....I better stay clear of suspicious plants, then...Unless Shizuka would be kind enough to lend some of his medicine. But what could I give in return? Probably only a limb body within a day. Which, brought up another question. Why make a truce with me of all people? I wasn't even on the chart for 'likely winners'! I nodded slowly to the God, before lowering my lips into a frown of disappointment. I really wasn't going to last long in the arena. Especially if what I heard was true. I needed more allies, and fast. The God cleared his throat, before announcing that we needed to follow the two of them to the helicopter. This may have been contradicting my previous thoughts, but...A helicopter! Probably the coolest thing the humans invented back in the rusty years. Slowly, our group moved south from the northern station, and straight through the city. Factories thirty feet high, and the size of football fields engulfed us into a narrow street filled with workers and cameras. This was not for your claustrophobic people. And the place was so...Orderly. People didn't walk down the sidewalks in clusters, but in uniformed lines of one. No cars. Just your average two feet and optional hovercraft. There were no signs of children or women, so I quickly came to the conclusion this was a sort of military base for the Gods. Honestly, I was impressed, even though these very people were the ones bringing 'order' to our own... The fact that it took nearly half an hour to reach the helicopter port was saying something about the size of this base. But, we got there in one piece without having the cameras or Gods attack us...Which, was a good head start. As always, the helicopter waiting for us was just like what I had seen take my father away last year. Hadn't heard from him since, so most likely dead. I had a good relationship with him...A much better one compared to my mother and myself. He would have stopped my mother from scheduling unneeded enhancements, and he would just cradle me and say I was perfect just being who I was, and that no enhancements would make his love for me greater. Oh...The tears are beginning to fall down my cheeks, and I brush them away clumsily as we step up to the platform. I can't look weak already. We are just beginning to rise into the helicopter when yet another God stomps out with a huge smirk. What was in there that made him twist his lips into such a sinister way? Cautiously, I walked up to the entrance of the helicopter, only to find twelve pairs of eyes inside. Four belonging to the vampires...Then the demons, and finally the humans. I swallowed heavily, and stumbled around for a seat. Shyly, I slid down beside a boy from the human district I remember being named Raike. And he was talking to a demon across from him. Ryuu. It seemed to be a rather intense parting of words, and I prayed deep down that there would be guards to accompany us to the Gods district. Ryuu didn't look like one for calm flight, and Raike seemed to be one that would push him right down. My eyes trailed to Bernkastel, whom had a rose down her shirt and was giving a little candy to Marisa. Those two. Those two were going to be her allies. |
Shizuka was just about to stir up a conversation with the other two Angel contestants when the train's speed began to slow, he quickly shifted his gaze to the nearest window just in time to read a sign: "Northern Station." District 5. They had finally arrived at their trains destination, the train coming to a complete stop. Shizuka's attention was then drawn to the other girl contestant grabbing Amelia and throwing her towards the doors, almost as if planned they sprung open and Amelia was instantly barraged by a swarm of cameras.
"The time is moving swiftly, soon the Reaping will begin and I will finally be able to prove myself to my father. To everyone. I will not fail and if the time comes where I might fail, I will make sure to bring everyone and everything down with me," thought Shizuka to himself. Shizu had a lot on his mind and a lot of expectations for himself. As he strolled off the train he too was surrounded by the obnoxious clicking camera bots, but he swatted at them as if they were a swarm of bees and then just decided to continue walking. Shizu was amazed at what he saw, a giant factory looking city that spanned miles in every direction. People were walking in single file lines on all of the sidewalks and there didn't seem to be a car in sight, the occasional hover craft zooming by. All of the camera's might as well have been mosquito's, they just buzzed and clicked and swarmed over every inch of his body. Shizuka started breathing through his nose and out his mouth to calm himself, rage building from the closeness and invasion of his personal space. It was then that two very large men strolled over to where we were. One of two Gods swatted some of the camera's away that had been harassing Amelia, the mechanical devices shattering instantly on the ground. Shizu begun to wonder what a punch from that guy would feel like, but the Gods cleared their throats to grab everyone's attention. The two of them stood at, both, very large heights and weights that would scare most people away instantly - a trait Shizuka quickly shed at a young age, learning that one must never show fear. "Welcome to District 5, don't enjoy it because you won't be here for very long," spoke one of the gods. "And in fact if you didn't ever come we would not object, but nevertheless follow us to the helicopter." The second God finished his counter-parts statement and then they began walking and motioned for everyone to follow suit. As they continued walking Shizuka began to wonder what the other contestants were truly going to be like, most of them probably just ruthless killers - Shizu had heard rumors that the other districts had different ways of choosing those who participated in the Reaping. More camera bots appeared from around a corner and flooded everyone's legs and arms and snapping pictures, Shizu quickly resuming the breathing technique he had stopped. His attention now restored to the path in front of him, Shizu could see a platform with the giant Helicopter on it, the next part of the trip was to be made through the air - but where were the other Helicopters for the other districts he wondered. Just as he finished his thought they arrived at the platform where the gods began to speak again. "Here is your Helicopter for the remainder of your trip, may your journey be safe," said one of the guards while pointing at the giant aircraft. "It's been a few months since any Helicopters were shot down accidentally, hard to tell with people trying to escape all the time," laughed the other god menacingly. Three guards quickly ushered everyone towards the Helicopter, I was the third to board and was quickly met with quite a shock. Sitting on leather benches, already, were twelve people - the Angels had been the last to arrive as Shizuka stared into the eyes of Vampires, Demons and Humans who were all staring right back at the four of them. As his eyes shifted from each individual to the next he let their names and faces solidify themselves into his brain - these people would be the ones he expected to be challenges. Shiro. Marissa. Bernkastel. Jin. Ryuu. The other districts competitors all looked bloodthirsty and ready to kill, except for Marissa. She appeared to be frightened of everyone around her, but that was obviously just an appearance involved with her strategy. Amelia took a seat next to one of the Human competitors, that same human appeared to be in a conversation with Ryuu but it had stopped once they had boarded the train. Shizuka decided to sit next to Bernkastel in order to try and pick up on anything he could from her, but he wasn't putting too much effort into it right now so as not to disrupt the temporary peace between everyone. He leaned back and shut his eyes to just relax for as long as he could, most likely only for the helicopter ride. Smirking, Shizu thought to himself "The games have begun. Lets see where this is going to lead me." |
Chapter 2 - Nokoto Osoku - Human District
Freak. That's the only word I could think of that would do minimal harm to such a...Freak. Of course I was talking about Jin. Miss Psycho Girl. MPG for short? After that whole incident of her almost choking me to death, they had her confined to a different part of the train. Even then, I could hear the violence and screaming. At one point, a servant came into our compartment to borrow an extinguisher. Can anyone ring out crazy for me? I'm pretty speechless myself. She must have rabies or something. Next thing I knew, the servants were suiting up and taking tazors with them whenever they went two meters close to the DOOR. The ride was rather boring, to say the least. I was expecting maybe a little entertainment for our final days alive, but...What we got were the recaps of the reapings over and over again. Recap, survey, recap, results. That's how the televisions played out. No remotes to change the channel, and when I asked for one, all I got was a laugh by a couple of armed servants. Faust, whose real first name is Faustochi (Yes you hear me right. Even better, his parents are drug-addicts) is actually the sweetest-looking guy I've seen through all the participants in the recaps. His eyes are not sharp and bloodthirsty. A midnight blue shade, that are round and full of happiness. He may be a little on the pale side, but his lips are full and a cute pink. Couldn't you just DIE? (Not legit speaking. But if you wanted him to live, then I suppose) His hair must have been dyed, but it looks so natural, one might wonder if he is half-old. Fluffy snowflakes of hair that bounce with each lean he does. I also learned the interesting fact that he adores cooking. He went on about the difference between cupcakes and muffins, and I actually LISTENED. Not because I was simply attracted to him, but because his voice seemed to flow so nicely, it was a shame it would be broken in the games. Raike didn't seem like much of a talker when it came to food. He was in his own little world off in the corner. I wanted to ask him to join because he looked so darn lonely, but Faust disagreed. Later on I realized why he didn't want Raike over here. He wanted to ask about becoming allies. A truce until nessesary. Of course I would accept! I mean, having a cute guy watching my back? Best thing ever. But that still led to the question of; if I make it to the end with him, will I have the guts or heart to kill him? It had been hardly three hours, when the servants came back from an abrupt absence, and told us we were just arriving at the western station. Goodie. Couldn't wait. After that was the cool helicopter ride, right? Jin was the first to leave the train with a servant at her side. She looked rather beaten up, but not anything a few days of rest wouldn't heal. Rest? You got no rest the moment you were in district 5, apparently. The moment me, Faust, and Raike left the comfy quiet of the train, we were bombarded with fireworks of clicking, beeping, buzzing...By what? Cameras! I beamed at the sight of them, while the others sulked and waved them off. Cameras! I took one in my hand, and allowed it to sit in my palm as it took pictures of my face. When more cameras began crowding me curiously, I let go of the camera I was holding, and waved around happily. "HI MOM." I cried out. That seemed to spark the rest of the cameras away from Faust and Raike, and over to me. Now I was doing a few dancing moves to keep their attention fixated on me. I could see Faust laughing his arse off, and Jin was scowling. She didn't seem to like how only a couple cameras were looking at her. "Stop with the damn ballet routine and grow up." I stopped mid-spin, and completely went straight as if in a police lineup. It was offending to call it ballet, but I wasn't going to argue when I saw two heaping Gods glaring at me. One kept glancing at their watch, so I realized that they may have been waiting for me to get out of superstar mode and into reality. I wasn't doing too good, was I? I looked back at Faust, and he simply gave me a thumbs up and smile, which reassured me that I wasn't going to get beaten up. "Now before someone starts breaking into song for the stupid girl, lets get a move on." The two guards were just turning away to direct us, when a melodic voice crept through the clicking of the cameras. To defy their little funny, was Faust. Beat boxing. The two Gods looked as startled as I did. Before long, I was bursting out laughing at how silly Faust looked doing that. When Faust finished, the Gods looked so dumbfounded, that I had to add, "Looks like you got High School Musical this year." It took longer than expected to reach the helicopter platform, what with the constant stops we had to make. About a hundred buzzing cameras followed us right up to the platform, before taking off back into the city. Seems they had reached their limits. Our little group was literally shoved towards the entrance of the machine, and stood before a group of vampire participants. Marisa, Shiro...Fang and Enix. Those were the names I remembered. It was rather awkward; finding a seat among the vampires. I ended up sitting directly beside Shiro. Faust sat on the other side of me, then Raike. Jin placed herself on the farthest corner possible from us; scratching at a tube that had been placed in her wrist. She was probably going to be drugged before the helicopter took off. Before long, the other two districts arrived. The demon district, and then the angels. As soon as Ryuu came in, I could see the hatred pouring out of his glares. He then made a nasty comment to us, and before I could respond, Raike took the lead. Raike didn't seem like a bad person. Ryuu sounded blood-thirsty. Faust simply stayed calm, and ignored the demon. His gaze seemed to trail over to Marisa, whom looked a little more than freaked out in her circumstances. Now I was beginning to pity her. She was the youngest here, it seemed. Thirteen, while the rest of us ranged from sixteen to eighteen. But, why was she so high in the rankings? Beside her, was the infamous Bernkastel. One of the three winners of the sixth poppy games....Only one of last years. A definite challenge, but...Marisa came up in second in the votings. |
Chapter 2 - Paris Junibe - Demon District
Boarding the helicopter, I frowned at the sight of the two districts already inside. They weren't taking private helicopters? Just great. Pouting, I popped myself down by the entrance, and crossed my limps; only to be accompanied by Xavier. The sexy guy from my district. My eyelashes fluttered a bit in confusion, and then my lips curled up on end. "Hey there, sweetie. Couldn't resist sitting beside me? A beautiful, sexy celeb~?" I giggled as I teased the boy, and ran a finger down his cheek. "You're a shy one~" Chapter 2 - Bernkastel Vermillia - Demon District Next thing I knew, Ryuu was spatting insults at the humans. Was he seriously trying to place targets over his heart and brain? If he had a brain... "Listen, brainless..." I mumbled, plucking the rose from between my breasts. The thorny bit pricked my fingers, but not enough to draw blood. The petals of the flower were perfect and glossy. "Wait until the arena to get yourself killed...." I didn't bother waiting for his reaction, as my attention turned to Xavier and...Paris. She was rolling one of her elegant fingers down his cheek, and using a rather odd tone that rolled with each sentence. A seducing tone. I didn't show any outward arguement to her flirting habits, but in my tiny soul I was seething. My knowledgeable side said it was because Paris shouldn't be getting close to people she'll have to kill. Another reason, because Xavier wasn't stupid to fall for her tricks. At least, I hope he wasn't. Before I could think about it any further, the angels arrived. Rather late, mind you. My eyes immediately picked Amelia from the group, and watched as she nervously took a seat beside Raike. She was the only one, who knew what I knew. Well, besides...I glanced to my left, before chucking the rose like a dagger between Xavier and Paris; nearly piercing her eyes if she had leaned in any further to pluck a kiss on his cheek. The impact in which the rose hit the opposite wall, made a slight 'click' before bouncing off. The stem of the rose had made a small dent in the metal of the helicopter. Bern may have skewered Paris' eyes otherwise. "No romance." I muttered, before going back into my own little world of the arena. "...." |
Kerin cringed only slightly, but lazily turned his head towards the general direction of that goddamn, stupid bell. He knew what it meant. Actually, every single person in the district knew what it meant. The Reaping. Pretty much a killfest with teenagers being the main attraction. Kerin had managed to avoid being picked for the last x amount of years but still, the process always made him anxious and then there was four, poor bastards that were picked. They were pretty much doomed, even if they won. Sighing, Kerin put down his bass guitar and wandered over to the front door. He opened it only to find a pair of guards standing outside, a line of teenagers just like Kerin behind them.
"Kerin Knight, you--" one of them started but was interrupted by Kerin's raised hand and nod of agreement and slowly joined the group of teens. The guard nodded back. "We are thankful for your co-operation." Kerin glanced around, seeing the faces of his fellow potential fighters. He felt sorry for them. Most of them. Some of them were shaking where they stood, stumbling as the group began to walk to the government building, joining the mass of teenagers, worried parents and whoever else wanted to watch the show. Kerin felt heat rise in his chest and he clenched his fists. He just wanted to punch them, he really did. They were all sick and disgusting, thinking that sending teenagers to war was a good idea. He pushed the feelings back, as far as they could go. Creating a scene here was not a good idea. * * * The speeches finally started. Kerin almost knew them off by heart. They were boring, long, repetitive and... unnecessary. The speech was pretty much just "Hey kids, you're going to maybe die. Good luck, have fun!" A small girl beside of Kerin collapsed to her knees, breathing silent tears. He didn't blame her. He felt anxious himself. "Hey," he offered her a hand, "it's gonna be okay, okay?" It really wasn't but Kerin didn't have any other words of comfort. She didn't reply, she just took his hand and whimpered softly. A few of the older teens scowled at her. The man, that British guy with the black hair, Cal... Calzus maybe, began his half. Then the voting began. Kerin blinked as a girl jumped forward to the front before anyone's name was even called. Idiot, who would want to do this. Kerin's heart dropped as the second name was called. And the third. And then finally the fourth. "Kerin Knight!" Calzus called out and the crowd cheered wildly. Kerin's heart moved to his throat and then down to his stomach. The guard behind him nudged him forward, pushing him further into the crowd. "I'm going, I'm going," Kerin said, his voice wavering a little. At first thought, he was scared. At second... yup, still scared. He stepped forward through the crowd as his name rang through his ears, several hundred more times than it was said. He thought it over again. Wait, this could... perhaps be a good thing. For the past three years, Kerin had lived for nothing and now he could see if God still wanted him alive. He clenched his fists as he joined the others on stage. He was good at fighting, always had been. True, the last person he had punched in the face was some smug kid last month who had picked on some other kid, but this was his chance. It was better him than the rest of them. He looked over at the kid who had been standing next to him. She looked... relieved. Kerin smiled slightly. He had saved someone at least. He then looked over at the others who were chosen. They all looked fairly average except for the first girl, who looked all too eager and the other girl. She looked small, probably weak. Kerin frowned a little. Poor kid. The applause ended and Calzus ended the ceremony with some poor excuse for a finale. "May the odds be forever in their favor!" * * * The four were quickly whisked away inside the government building by a dozen or so guards. Kerin was only able to steal glimpses of the building as his eyes adjusted to the light. It was regal, that was for sure. The four were finally dumped inside an expensive room, fit with beauty, carpets, reclining chairs and a fireplace that had all been paid for with the taxpayers money. Kerin blinked. Okay, so what now? The silence was broken by the crazy one. "I swear to God. Get in my way, and I'll kill you all," her voice just dripped with some kind of malicious evil. Kerin clenched his teeth together, trying to keep his frustration under control. Yeah, kill the team you're on. Nice one. He forced a sneer of somesort. "Like God has any time to listen to your oaths," he sniffed back at her, taking a seat on one of the recliners. He could tell he wasn't going to be friends with this girl. "He stuck us here, he's obviously not on our side." |
Chapter 1 - Shiro (Daxity) - Vampire District
I unhinged a growl from deep in my throat, but I didn't say anything more. I didn't need to be told by some teen older than me, that God wasn't on our side. He wasn't on anyones side. And neither was I. I work along, and I don't listen to others. I watched as the oldest boy sat himself down, before I flicked my hair, rushed to the door, and began kicking at it in my frustration. Damn. I just wanted to see blood spill! Preferably, not mine. Chapter 1 - Marisa Ryunatta - Vampire District I let out a soft whimper at Shiro's threat, and quickly hid myself behind a leather chair the farthest away from her. Suddenly, a buzzing noise to my left caught my attention away from the boy named Kerin, and I looked up to find myself staring into the eyes of several angels. They were playing a recap of each district reaping, and....Amelia! I perked up slightly as I saw her among the four people going onto a train. Amelia, Kaito, Shizuka, and Pewita...Next came the demon district recaps, and I winced at the second name I heard. Bernkastel Vermillia. The infamous winner of not one, but two population games. She was the biggest threat. Then came the human district. Nokoto, Raike, Fausto, and Jin. "...." I whimpered even more as the screen changed to show all sixteen of the participants. Age, height, and species. I was the youngest, and the shortest... It was hopeless. All of the men up there were rather...Strong-looking. And Bernkastel? Icouldn't dream of beating her. I quickly scrambled from my seat on the floor, and into the recliner beside Kerin. Sitting on my knees with my hands over my ears. Fang, the final participant from my district, raised his eyebrows at me, then at Shiro, before turning himself to the television I was attempting to ignore. "Yo, Marisa. How'd you place second on the survey?" I blinked, twisted my face in confusion, and looked to find my picture underneath Bernkastel's. I gapped, and read the title of the survey. The Gods had voted, and this is what they had come up with. That I was the second most-likely to win the games! W-what?! "I-I..." I clamped my mouth shut, and looked down at the floor. I had just about broken the lock on the door, when I heard Fang's question from across the room. Immediately, I turned on my heels, stomped over, and glared at the television. "WHAT. How could a pipe-squeak beat me in the standings?!" I yelled out, whipping my glare towards the small golden girl. She looked so extremely weak and frail! Sandy blonde hair, and bright gold eyes. What the hell?! "I DEMAND an explanation, goldy locks!" Great. She was already the youngest and had a horrible disadvantage....Now false survey results which pinned a "Shoot here" sign on my back? I was certain that I would be killed the moment I was in the arena. Thanks to a bunch of 'Godly surveys'. I whimpered as Shiro began to yell at me, and I curled into him chair. "I-I don't know...!" "Hmph! Whatever! I'm gonna kill you the minute we're in the arena just for good measure! There can only be one winner in this district anyways. And there is no way I'm dying to the tiny hands of some elementary student!" |
Kerin slumped further into the chair as he heard the crazy psycho chick kick the door down. Right, okay, just destroy the room. I'm sure those guards will be pleased with your wonderful work when they get back. He glanced over at the small girl as she moved away from the psychotic one (damn, why couldn't he remember their names?). Poor girl. Seriously, out of all the people they could have picked. She was small, she was young. Kerin himself was probably a good competitor; older, probably stronger. But she was the complete opposite. They probably picked her for some reason though.
His eyes flickered over to the TV as faces began to show. None that he knew, though he could tell that they were definitely competitors. Angels. Then it switched to four other faces, quite sinister looking ones. Demons, most likely. Then the humans came up. Kerin breathed a heavy sigh as he could recognise none of them. At least his siblings were safe. Kerin hadn't spoken to them since he left. He hadn't tried either but not because he didn't want to; he didn't know how. He bit his lip a little. What would they say if they saw him again? He killed Quinn. It was his fault. He didn't think anyone would forgive him for that. Heck, Kerin didn't forgive himself. He looked back up at the TV as all of the competitor's faces appeared. He looked over at the human ones again. Nokoto. Raike. Fausto. Jin. He envied them all. He would kill to be them. He glanced over at the psychotic girl. He would kill her in an instant if it meant he could be normal again. He heard the cushion seat next to his wheeze. So the little girl had finally sat down. She looked a little scared with her hands over her ears. Kerin wanted to help her, he really did. He gave her a comforting smile but she kept her eyes elsewhere. "Yo, Marisa. How'd you place second on the survey?" the other male competitior said, staring at the TV. Kerin shifted his focus back over to it. Indeed, she was. Below some other girl from the Demon district. So Marisa was the little girl's name. But how weird. He glanced back over to her again. So maybe she was hiding something? "WHAT?! How could a pipe-squeak beat me in the standings?! I DEMAND an explanation, goldy locks!" The crazy girl yelled out, blocking the TV with her face that had distorted into some kind of ... angry... thing. Kerin raised his eyebrows. "She doesn't have to explain anything to you," Kerin blinked. He could feel the blood rushing to his head. He hated it, absolutely hated it when people treated other people this way. He had spent most of his human years kicking these kinds of peoples' asses. "I-I don't know...!" Marisa curled into her chair, obviously scared. Marisa reminded Kerin of his younger sister Nora. Nora was cute and bubbly most of the time but she scared easy and hated to be confronted or yelled at. Kerin growled a little. He always made sure Nora was protected by these kinds of creeps. He couldn't now but he could help who he could. "Hmph! Whatever! I'm gonna kill you the minute we're in the arena just for good measure! There can only be one winner in this district anyways. And there is no way I'm dying to the tiny hands of some elementary student!" The crazy one yelled back at Marisa. That was it. "Shut up! Just shut up! Can't you see she's scared?!" Kerin got to his feet, his hands clenched. "You can't say crap like that, you don't even know what she can do! Shut up!" His head quickly went over what she had said. Wait, what? One winner? "Wait, one winner or... one survivor?" Kerin stepped back a little. He had never watched these games. Weren't they just trials and you could die? |
Ryuu's eyes were fixed on Raike for quite some time. He glared with hatred. He hated the very fact he was even speaking to him, but for the moment, he could handle it.
"BECAUSE I'm the best in my district, it MEANS I'm the best. Who do you think could stop me? Angels? Pathetic feathered weaklings. Vampires? Their scrawny bodies would break below my hand like toothpicks. You Humans? Don't get me started on you humans. You should be lucky you are even allowed to participate in these Reapings. As far as I'm concerned, you'll be the first to go. Then everyone else on my hit-list which..." Ryuu looked around the helicopter,"...at the moment means ALL of you. I care not what you try to do to stop me, the fact is, you can't stop me." Ryuu briefly heard what Bernkastel said. He turned to her, but didn't speak. Instead, he looked at her face, more at her forehead, as if a target was painted on her head, and he was a bull. Ryuu sighed and turned away. Ryuu calmed a bit. He knew odds weren't in his favor if he started an all out assault right in the middle of the helicopter on ALL of them. But that didn't mean he couldn't still try to fight at least one of them. The question was, who should he kill right now, and who should he save for later. It would have to be the one who isn't much of a fight, one he could kill to satisfy his bloodlust. He wouldn't want to waste it on a stronger one, as he wanted to save them for the arena. He looked over everyone there. He wanted to pick the one to kill wisely. He considered Raike. He was a human, and his annoying face out of the way would be great to Ryuu, but he reconsidered. It was then that he began hearing the conversations between the vampires. Marisa, perhaps? He thought to himself. No, I wouldn't want to kill a vampire. They probably are the toughest of these batch, besides demons. He looked over Kerin, and smiled. That one. Yes, that one. No! He's a vampire as well... Ryuu had not noticed, but while trying to pick out a person to kill, Ryuu had shut off all other conversation, either coming at him or around him. He could hear his heart pound to the tapping of his foot. He had a feeling. He now didn't want to kill someone, he needed to kill someone. Ryuu continued to look around at the others. He had heard rumors that these flights didn't always turn out well. He was sure he knew why... |
Chapter 1 - Shiro (Daxity) - Vampire District
I growled even louder as the vampire named Kerin stood up. "Make me!" I shouted back, raising my left arm into the air. Yessss, see what I am? Look, I'm pretty sure you can see the writing on this as well as I can! Dangerously Psychotic. "I'm not even gonna waste my breath!" I spat out. Anger was beginning to flow deep into my brain, and there was no telling what would happen if...That happened. "So shut up yourself before I shut you for good! HMPH." I could see the other male backing away slightly with his hands up. "Settle down, Shiro. You're outnumbered, and I'm on Kerin's side this time around. Shut up." I grabbed at my skull and pulled out a clump of hair. "FINE. Whatever!" Before anyone could say anything more, I ran at the door, kicked it down, and escaped out of the blasted room. Chapter 1 - Fang - Vampire District "FINE. Whatever!" Shiro yelled out. Before I could bat an eye, she was pulling out hairballs and she ran out of the room; taking the door down with her. I raised my eyebrows at her behavior. Alright. I knew Shiro, but it's been a while since she has pulled out hair. "Damn. That bald-spot was just disappearing, too." I mumbled to myself. I heard Kerin thank me from helping out, and I smiled back. "No problem, dude. Shiro is just upset about the whole survey. She'll chill down eventually." He paused for a moment, and dropped himself down in the third recliner. "Oi, so, my names' Fang. Ironic huh?" He tapped his shoulder, where there were two small scars. Bite marks. "Kerin, right? From the Human District three years ago?" "Wait, you've never watched the Poppy Games? You can be arrested for that, ya know. But, I'm not the tattling type, so it's cool. Pretty much, sixteen people go into an arena, and there can only be a maximum of four winners slash survivors. One from each district. Meaning..." He paused for a dramatic effect. "Three of us are not gonna come back here. I just hope its not Shiro. She's a nice girl when she's not insane, but...I don't think she should live in the Victor's District." Chapter 1 - Marisa Ryunatta - Vampire District I gave a soft cry, and instead of taking his hand, I leap off her chair, and into Kerin's chest. Hugging. Crying. I wasn't scared. I was absolutely terrified. And after Fang's summary of the games, I wasn't feeling any better. "Uuu...Fang, you're wrong. Not this year." I cried out, digging my face into his chest. Tears stained his shirt, and suddenly I jumped back and hid behind my chair. "I'm sorry I'm sorry! D-don't hit me...!" I knelt know and covered my head; awaiting for the usual strong fist to pound me down. My memories surfaced into my eyes. My father standing over me. A knife in hand. No, he wasn't kind enough to use a silver one. He used one of stainless steel to cut up my tummy. So I wouldn't die, but I would feel the pain of his hatred for me. My hand traced around my heart. Where I knew the stitches had been. "....." I began to cry again. |
Her threats meant nothing to Kerin. She could spit at him as much as she liked, she was an inconsiderate, cocky, psycho witch and Kerin had met plenty of people in similar boats to her. Probably not as psychotic, but definitely the loud and screaming type.
"Settle down, Shiro," the other boy said, his hands raised in defence. So Shiro was the crazy girl's name. Okay, so what was the boys? "You're outnumbered, and I'm on Kerin's side this time around. Shut up." Kerin breathed a sigh of relief. Someone with sense! Finally! "FINE. Whatever!" Shiro screeched back, pulling a large clump of hair out of her head. Kerin widened his eyes. Okay, he had never seen anything that crazy. Before Kerin could think much else, she kicked the door down and ran out. She only needed a evil cackle and a broomstick and she was a short trip from the mental institute. Kerin sighed again, calming himself and turned to the boy. "Thanks man, thanks a heap," he nodded and walked over to Marisa, now whimpering and curled up in her lounge. "Are you okay?" He offered her a hand and a gentle smile. Potential power or not, she looked scared. She had been pushed into this and Kerin felt some kind of urge to protect her. Heck, he felt that way about most innocent and tortured people, but Marisa was different. She was so young. And she was most likely going to die if the games go as planned. At least Kerin thought. How did these game things work anyways? "Oi, so, my names' Fang. Ironic huh?" Kerin looked over at him as he tapped his shoulder. Kerin saw two small holes. Snake bite piercings? Oh right. No, vampire bites. Kerin glanced at his own wrist, covered by a leather cuff. "Kerin, right? From the Human District three years ago?" Kerin widened his eyes a little. "Y-yeah! Are you from the Human district as well?" he was surprised anyone knew him. Or remembered him. Kerin usually kept to himself, unless he knew Fang from the Human district. He was a little familiar but Kerin didn't know if that was because he had probably seen him around town here or from his last town. "Wait, you've never watched the Poppy Games?" Fang asked. Kerin added a short nope. "You can be arrested for that, ya know. But, I'm not the tattling type, so it's cool. Pretty much, sixteen people go into an arena, and there can only be a maximum of four winners slash survivors. One from each district. Meaning... Three of us are not gonna come back here. I just hope its not Shiro. She's a nice girl when she's not insane, but...I don't think she should live in the Victor's District." Nice? Kerin looked at the door Shiro had kicked down. Yeah she seemed nice alright. But, seriously, one from each district? Kerin lowered his head a little. This guy seemed nice enough, he didn't deserve to die. And neither did this little girl. If Kerin wanted to win these games, he would most likely have to make alliances elsewhere but who said he really wanted to win? He looked back at Marisa. He didn't want to see her die if it meant Kerin lived. On that note, death was scary any way you looked at it. Perhaps someone would find a cure when the games were over. Maybe someone would find a way for Kerin to go back to his life. He gave Fang and Marisa a small smile. He really didn't know what to think. "So, uh, what now?" Kerin said to Fang, his hand still offered to Marisa. Instead of taking it, she hugged him. Quite tightly. She was sobbing, it was getting all over his shirt. But it didn't matter, as long as Kerin could make her feel safe. Yup, this was exactly like Nora. He hugged her back, trying to offer as much comfort as he possibly could. "Uuu...Fang, you're wrong. Not this year," she said, her voice muffled by her face in his chest. Suddenly, she pushed him back and jumped behind her chair, hiding behind it. "I'm sorry I'm sorry! D-don't hit me...!" Kerin blinked and shook his head. "I'm... I'm not going to hurt you!" Kerin stepped over the couch and bent down next to her. She was crying again. "I'll protect you, okay?" |
-Raike kept his emotionless face, but he made a tsk sound with his tounge. A tiny flame appeared on his pointer finger, but he quickly exstinguished it. Still glaring at Ryuu, he opened his mouth to speak.-
"Well, if your the best, then I can't wait to break my foot off in your arse, then we'll see how good you are. You have too high of an opinion of yourself hellboy, and if you keep that attitude, your gonna end up dead. I also advise you not to start a war with everyone here, or we might just jump you." -Looking back at Ryuu, he seemed to have bloodlust in his eyes, and Raike snickered. He really was like a bull, and he might even try to charge someone in the arena. Anyway, Raike would enjoy taking him down a peg, and showing him he wasn't all that. In his district, he had been known for not looking too strong, but actually posessing a montrous strength, one thing people overlooked.- |
Chapter 1 - Fang - Vampire District
"Hm? Of course I'm from the Human District? What, don't remember me? Haha, it's cool, dude. We never were in the same classes, anyways. Didn't expect to see you here of all people!" I gave a fanged grin, but it didn't last long as Marisa suddenly hugged into him, freaked out, and was now crying behind the recliner. I blinked several times as I processed what the heck just happened. Gingerly, I walked around and sat myself down on the other side of the young teenager. "Yo, how about we make a three-way alliance? Gang up on Shiro?" Chapter 1 - Marisa Ryunatta - Vampire District Still crying out, I immediately latched onto Kerin, closed my eyes, and nuzzled in. He isn't here...My dad isn't here....He isn't going to hurt me anymore...I breathed out shakingly, and slowly pulled away when my face began to stick to him through my wet tears. "Uuu...R-really? You'll do that...?" I asked, a look of disbelief surfacing underneath my pained expression. Protect me? "From everything...?" My wide golden eyes searched his face curiously, and I wiped away some tears settling on my cheeks. |
"Uhh," Kerin screwed up his face a little. Maybe? He looked at Fang a little closer. He shrugged and just accepted it. He probably wasn't called Fang before. Most likely. "Were you... were you attacked the same night I was? Or before? Or after?" Kerin's eyes went down to his knees as memories flashed in his head. He quickly pushed them back as Quinn... no, never mind.
Kerin was quickly snapped out of whatever he as in as Marisa hugged him quite tightly again. Kerin smiled as he looked down at his now dirty shirt, covered in tears and probably snot. He hugged her back again. "Uuu...R-really? You'll do that...? From everything...?" Marisa looked up at him, her golden eyes staring into his black ones. She reminded him so much of Nora. And Dana! Dana was young too, younger than Marisa, but she always ran to Kerin when she did anything since Father Manuel was always so busy. Kerin gave her a warm smile. "Of course!" Kerin nodded. "Everything but internal bacteria." He let out a laugh. "Yo, how about we make a three-way alliance? Gang up on Shiro?" Fang sat down beside them. Kerin grinned back at him. Was that a way of saying... they were friends? Were they friends? "Yeah! Yeah, let's team up!" Kerin pulled out a hand around Marisa and offered it to Fang to shake. Sure, Shiro said there was only one left out of each region but what... what if they could somehow change that? Kerin humored himself with the idea of making everyone a vampire. Surely then it would be four of anyone! |
Chapter 1 - Marisa Ryunatta - Vampire District
Smiling widely at his little joke, I wiped the remaining tears from my face, and directed my attention to Fang. He proposed an alliance. However, once Shiro was gone, then...Whatever. These two were making her welcome. An alliance, even if it is silently only temporary, would be great. I smiled at Fang, and nodded my head rapidly in agreement. "I agree! Let's be allies!" I tilted my head back to Kerin curiously. "Friends?" Chapter 1 - Fang - Vampire District I grinned at their approval, and shook Kerin's hand. An alliance. "Cool! Let's show those other districts whose gonna win this year, alright?" Just as I was about to speak to Marisa, I heard some noise from behind me, and turned around to find two guards propping the door back into place. Another was perched on the chair we were behind. The two guards at the door were rather skinny, with freckles covering their cheeks and a flare of orange hair tossed carelessly atop their heads. Wood-brown eyes were looking around each way. Twins. They even dressed the same. The only difference, was that one of the twins had yellow flecks in his eyes. The third guard with them, looked alot more healthy. His cold-blue hair blown to the left, and purple eyes scanning the three of us. Rings were rolled down his exposed right ear, and a small lip-ring was the victim of his tongue. Like a bad habit, he was pulling the ring into his mouth with his tongue, and playing around. He seemed more prepared for a violent participant, as his shoulders and upper chest were guarded by leather padding. "Hello. Us three are here to guide your group to District 5." The man stood up from the chair, and in his grip, were a ringlet of keys. "Lets go." I glanced back at Marisa and Kerin, before heaving myself to my feet. "Ouf...Alright." Without even asking the younger teen, he took her hand, and dragged her along out of the room. Following the three guards, the vampires could get a better look at the government building they were in. It was silent. Almost peaceful, really. The entire place was in the lap of luxury. Not a single imperfection. Red roses seemed to be the marking of this building, as each hallway had atleast one vase or painting, with a bright, blood-red rose. I was surprised we didn't run into any officials through the entire trip, but I suppose they had better things to do than see us off. The guards explained to us on the way, that we would be leaving through the back port so we didn't disturb the civilans. How could we possibly disturb them? When we finally made it through the back door, I was astonished at how much the back was different from the front. The cities of our district weren't known to be too natural. Buildings and houses and other structures blocked most patches of trees. This. This was nature before us. Perfect lines of cherry-blossom tress. Just beginning to blossom, their petals sprinkled the dirt path with their pink. The grass was definitely greener on this side, as well. My eyes lit up at the beauty of everything, and what surprised me was that the guards allowed us to stop and take in this change in the enviroment. Perhaps previous contestants acted the same way. After a few peaceful moments, we returned back to walking. The sun was just peeking over the horizon, and the glimmer of it sent the trees shivering. The petals glistened as though covered in sparkles. Absolutely beautiful. We neared a clearing, and that was when we saw Shiro. Strapped to a wheelchair, a guard was pushing her around to see flowers lining underneath the trees. Tiger lillies. Five-star flowers that opened up like starfish. They happened to be my favorite flower. Shiro seemed to have calmed since her psychopathic explosion, and her face held a sort of thing I had never seen before in her. She was relaxed. Had they drugged her? No, she would seem drowsy, then. No medication could possibly lower her anger into a silent bliss. There was no way. |
"Friends?" Kerin hesitated for a moment. He had never really had a real friend before. Everyone had usually kept their distance from him or he had from them. He blinked, then smiled. True, it seemed inevitable that one of them had to die but Kerin wanted to change that. He wanted to make sure his friends lived.
"Friends!" Kerin grinned as Fang shook his hand. This was good, this was a good feeling. Fang opened his mouth but was interrupted by the realisation that three guards were in the room. Kerin turned towards them. Two were fixing the door whilst the other, the considerably tougher looking one, was sitting quite comfortably in a chair. He had an assortment of piercings, it kind of made him look a lot younger than he probably was. "Hello. Us three are here to guide your group to District 5," he stood up from his chair and the group of keys in his hand made a tinkling noise. He shook them a little, motioning to them. "Lets go." Fang nodded, took Marisa's hand and followed the guards out the now fixed door. Kerin nodded and followed Fang, walking closely behind Marisa. As much as he didn't want to marvel at the building, he couldn't help it. It was... beautiful. Perfect roses, sleek designs, marble; the kind of thing that Kerin could only dream about. Still, despite the beauty, the place was quiet and empty other than the six of them. This place was built not to be lived in, but to show what kind of money could be spent on useless rooms. The guards said something about not disturbing the public then led them out to a courtyard. Not just any courtyard, one filled with cherryblossums (in bloom, no doubt!), the most lush grass and fit with sparkling dew drops on the petals and the sun rising in the distance. Kerin didn't realise the guards had stopped them and accidently bumped into Marisa (and quickly muttered out a few apologies). He took this moment to see what he thought would be the last beautiful thing. After this... was the games ahead? After this, would he have to kill? The guards pressed on and led them out of the courtyard and into a clearing. There was a guard pushing around a wheelchair. A wheelchair? Oh. Kerin smirked a little as he saw Shiro strapped into it, obviously calmed down from her psychotic rage. She seemed... dazed? No, that wasn't the word. Hypnotised? Her eyes were glassy and her face clear from the usual scowl or frown. How ominous. Kerin made a face and moved closer to Marisa. They had done something. |
Chapter 1 - Fang - Vampire District
Carefully, I approached Shiro and the guard. What had they done to her? She didn't seem to notice me, until I was right in her face. Yes, they definitely did something. Her eyes were hazed over, like a day full of clouds. She didn't swat me away. She just...Sat there staring at me, as though she was trying to place who I was, what I was doing, and how I got between her and the flowers. She mumbled out a hello, and that is when my heart fell. They did something to her. To make her calm like this... But why? Weren't we going to have guards at our sides every step of the way? They even had her strapped to the wheelchair by all her limbs...Like she was going anywhere. Cautiously, I reached out a hand and touched her cheek. In a normal situation, she would had punched me in the gut. This? She was actually accepting my fingers brushing against her scar-ridden surface. That was all I needed, to back way and walk myself back to the others. The main guard, cleared his throat and nodded at the guard that had Shiro. "District 5 is within walking distance from here, so that is our transportation. Follow along quickly." He began leading through he clearing, and into another path opposite the one we came through. The twins stayed at the government building, I guess...Because Shiro's guard took up the back. The minute I thought they couldn't hear us, I lowered my voice into a whisper. "Hey guys... They must've drugged Shiro up bad." Chapter 1 - Marisa Ryunatta - Vampire District I immediately hid behind Kerin cowering, the second I saw Shiro out in the clearing. However, it took me a bit to realize she was different from the girl who was shouting threats at me before. She seemed...Calm. Strapped to a wheelchair so her movement was minimal, a guard was pushing her around slowly to see the flowers. Sometimes she would squeak out to him, to pick a flower for her. With each request, he did as instructed and placed the flowers into her lap. She wouldn't thank him, though. Only switch her movement from him to the flowers. The greens and yellows and oranges...The purple flowers were her favorite. I could tell with the way she dazed off looking at them. Even though she didn't seem psychotic now; I kept my distance and clinged myself to Kerin for protection. She was smiling at us now; Shiro. A soft, dreamy smile. It scared me almost as much as her psychotic self. When Fang whispered to us that Shiro may have been drugged, there was a moment a got a ping of guilt. It didn't last long, though. Remembering that she was psychotic, and threatened to kill me... I huddled myself closer to Kerin, as he continued down through the parting of trees. Birds chirped out familiar melodies, and some swooped down bravely before us to pluck a lone worm for their bird children. This place was amazing...Why wasn't anyone allowed over here? |
"Hey guys... They must've drugged Shiro up bad," Fang said as Marisa hid behind Kerin. Kerin nodded back slowly. It was eerie. Kerin had never really known Shiro before. Sure, he had heard bits and pieces of other people in the town (not that Kerin had really remembered any names) but from what he had gathered, this kind of behaviour was... seriously serious. He put a hand on Marisa's shoulder to hug her close. He wouldn't let them do it to her.
"Creepy," Kerin breathed. He looked over at Fang. Hopefully their alliance was still valid. She might be drugged or hypnotised or whatever now but when it wore off, she would probably be extremely angry. With everything. Although if he had to kill her, he would wait. It wouldn't be a fair fight, not now. But it wasn't like the whole thing was fair anyways. |
Chapter 1 - Fang - Vampire District
Creepy indeed. They must've used some insane stuff to drug her, if this was the effect. I wasn't too worried myself of getting that drug. After all, it was probably only used to calm insane participants so they didn't kill anyone before the arena. Last year there had been an incident like that. Some estatic vampire couldn't wait to kill, that he decided to kill off two vampire participants, before he had to be killed himself. That's how we were labeled as the mentally unstable district. People like Shiro were ALWAYS in the games. Demons were always known for their reckless brutality. Angels were manipulative. And Humans were...The tech-savy, I suppose. Humans have only won one game so far out of the previous seven. Vampires were ahead with three. Demons had two victors. And the Angels also had one. I paused for a moment, blinked. Who had I seen on that screen in the room? A familiar face....No, two familiar faces. One from the demons, and the other from the humans. Why couldn't I remember their names or faces? I rubbed my temples, as we continued to walk at a steady pace. Marisa was clinging to Kerin like an octopus, while Shiro was gazing around blindly at her surroundings. She probably wouldn't remember any of this, because of the intense drugs...That's it! Bernkastel! I snapped my fingers, and immediately turned to Kerin. "Kay, I just figured out another ally we need to have. Bernkastel. You know her, right? The two-time victor from the demons?" Marisa instantly perked up, and looked into my face curiously. "Bern...? Alright. She can be an ally. If she lets us." Chapter 2 - Fang - Vampire District It didn't take us long to reach District 5. I never realized how close we were to them. What made me nervous about their location, was how weapon-savy they were. Like a military base. No children. No women. Just bulking male Gods carrying around your odd weapon. It was so strange...Seeing them walk single file around like this. Marisa was simply terrified of all the huge men, and cushioned herself between myself and Kerin. Shiro didn't seem to know what was going on, because she was waving to the Gods like she was drunk. They didn't even glance at us. We were that low and insignificant. That was when they hit us. The bugs. Giant metalic things that swarmed around us like bees. They made flashings with their eyes, and clicking at their feet. Wait...Those weren't bugs. Cameras. Hovering cameras. The sizes ranging from plum-sized, to watermelon-sized. At first they annoyed the hell out of me, but I soon learned to adapt to their company. Marisa was wide-eyed at them, and constantly flicked her head with each flash they made. Like she could see the flashes travel in the air if she looked quick enough. Such an odd girl. Our leading guard abruptly informed us, that we would be the first to arrive at the helicopter. Helicopter? We weren't taking a boat? Or those fancy teleportation machines? I wasn't complaining, though. The second I saw the giant machine, I smirked. A little big to hold four people...But plenty big for sixteen. We were going to be accompanied...By the other three districts in a helicopter. Joy. |
"Kay, I just figured out another ally we need to have. Bernkastel. You know her, right? The two-time victor from the demons?" Kerin turned to face Fang. That was the one on top of the leaderboard, right? She would be a powerful ally indeed, being from a different region. "Bern...? Alright. She can be an ally. If she lets us."
"If she lets us," Kerin let out a small laugh. He wasn't completely sure how these games went but free-for-all seemed the most popular approach, right? Being at the top of the list, she would probably be cocky. Or aloof. Or something. And winning twice might mean she wouldn't need any help. They reached District 5 and the first thing Kerin noticed was the funny looking robots and the bright flashes. Kerin covered his eyes as one flashed directly in his eye. Good thing he wasn't epileptic. He felt Marisa pull closer again and Kerin looked over to see what she was so scared of; giant golem-like things, carrying weapons. Even Kerin knew what they were. Gods. Kerin put his hand on Marisa's shoulder. They weren't the type to attack randomly but you didn't want to get on their bad side. He turned away and directed his attention to their guide. A helicopter? He could see it in the distance. Quite a large one. Filled with other district members? Oh great. Now Kerin could see who wanted to kill him. |
Chapter 2 - Bernkastel Vermillia - Demon District
My eyes flickered to the angel that had sat beside me, but otherwise I didn't give him much thought. I was busy. Busy concentrating on Raike and Ryuu since Paris' assault on Xavier had diminished. The two were exchanging heated looks, with words that stung like viper poison. I raised my head, with my bangs parting for a nice touch over my right eye. I gazed at Ryuu with such intensity, I began to wonder if I could blow him up with my emerald eyes. Create a spark. I wasn't much of a talker, but I had known from experience that if I did talk, attention usually came to me. I held my blank look, and stared into Ryuu's flamed eyes. "You are not the highest of the demons. I believe my streak has made that known. A little girl beat you in the survey. So, how much of a threat are you, compared to her...?" Of course, I was talking about Marisa. Both of us could take him out, with one swing of our finger. But, we would be killed instantly by the guards waiting outside. What were they waiting for, anyways? "Silence yourself, or, I just might kill you." I leaned back in my seat, closed my eyes, and smiled. How many seconds would it take, for him to react? One...Two...Three... Chapter 2 - Amelia Kunjui - Angel District In the ruckus of it all, out of everyone here....Bernkastel spoke up! My eyes widened slightly as I heard what she had to say, and when my eyes glanced nervously to her face, I immediately looked away. If looks could kill. Her emerald eyes were darkened, and her appearance had changed from someone wise, to something silent but deadly. Her eyes... Her eyes...! Did I see them flicker red with intensity? I held in a whimper, and directed my attention to Ryuu, who was the subject to that gaze and spiked words. Well, if Bern knew what she was doing... I wouldn't interfere. Wouldn't have the guts to. If Ryuu decided to attack now, I suppose Bern could handle him... Maybe with a little help from Raike. But, could they stop a bull, with two pairs of hands? If magic was used, the guards would put us all in handcuffs. I wanted to feel that I had at least some power, within these physically-enhanced males... Chapter 2 - Fang - Vampire District When we were raised into the mouth of the helicopter, I couldn't help but exasperate a sigh of relief. We were the first here... One less problem to worry about. I really didn't want to have a bunch of eyes on me as I sat down. Not sure where to place myself, I waited for Marisa to be seated. She was still clinging to Kerin. It was really...Rather cute. If one saw this, it would seem as though they were siblings. The little girl seemed so frightened of the helicopter... I watched as she managed to pull away, and move around the seats. It was like she was pinpointing the place for the best view. Finally, she decided on the seat on the left side of the helicopter, and plopped herself down. She patted the place on her left, and beamed. "Fang! Kerin! Sit here! Sit here!" I laughed and moved over to where she was directing us to sit. I left a gap between Marisa and myself for Kerin, since she seemed to prefer her. I respected that, so here I was, when the guard came in with Shiro and dumped her right beside me. I had to sort of...Catch her so she didn't fall over in surprise. She still seemed to be under the influence of the drugs. I watched as the guard pushed the now empty wheelchair out, along with himself. "....." I carefully set Shiro down, because I now realized...She fell asleep! I twitched, sighed, and laid her down. Good God...What did they inject her with? It was all too sudden. First the humans came in, then the demons, and then finally the angels within a span of twenty minutes. When the humans first came in, I scanned the four people and my eyes saddened when they locked on Nokoto. She was holding hands with some white-haired boy. Gosh, he seemed nice. I crossed my legs as they sat down horizontal from the entrance...One, two, three... Where did the fourth go? My eyes moved to the entrance, as I saw two armed guards take the fourth participant away. I couldn't remember her name, but why wasn't she allowed on the helicopter? Hm. All Hell (No pun intended) started when the demons came in. I couldn't help but admire Bernkastel as she stridded in with such purpose...Such power steps! She did not hesitate to sit beside Marisa, so I would take that as a good sign that she was possibly in favor of us, over the humans. The emo-boy...Ah, what was his name? Well, he sat over by the entrance with his woman-friend...Paris? I raised my eyebrows. I forgot about the celebrities participation... Finally, my attention settled onto Ryuu, the boy that had made it obvious that he hated us all. Wanted our bones between his teeth and our flesh under his heavy step. He acted with such superiority, and that, overall, pissed the living Hell in me. I couldn't stand people who thought they were better than everyone else, without proof of it first. My eyes flickered as a guard came through the entrance, and right over to Bernkastel. Was he going to take her away, along with that previous human participant? Nope... I watched as he slid a rose down her shirt like it was a vase, before dropping what appeared to be a candy in her lap. Did I hear his words correctly? He was betting on her death this year? I suppose, if someone betted that way, and Bern died...They would make quite a profit. After all...Two-time winner! Who couldn't say she could win again this year? Another movement that surprised me, was when she tossed the candy into Marisa's hands as if it belonged to her. Why didn't she eat it? Was it poisoned? I tensed up, but only for a second as I watched Marisa tuck the candy into her dress. Phew. Two things were happening after the angel's arrival. One, Raike and Ryuu were killing eachother with words. Second, Bern decided to take her rose to good use, and throw it between Paris and Emo. That immediately broke them apart, and I couldn't help but chuckle at Paris' wide-eyed reaction. I then noticed the little dent in the helicopter from the rose. Crap. Bernkastel was scary....Especially when she had enough of Ryuu, and spoke up with her dull, emotionless voice. "You are not the highest of the demons. I believe my streak has made that known. A little girl beat you in the survey. So, how much of a threat are you, compared to her...?" She was the highest, yes. Marisa beat Ryuu in the survey...How would that demon take that? It was obvious they weren't buddies when they arrived, and they certainly weren't now. I lowered my breathing. I did not want a fight to break out here. No way. But if worse came to worse, I would be on Bern's side. After all, I was the one that proclaimed that she became our ally. Maybe Marisa had already talked with her? |
Ryuu came out of his blood-thirst fueled trance to the sound of someone addressing him. It was Bernkastel again.
"You are not the highest of the demons. I believe my streak has made that known. A little girl beat you in the survey. So, how much of a threat are you, compared to her...?" Ryuu looked at Marisa and laughed a bit. He was about to comment on her and the stupid poll, and also on her being number one two times before. He was going to say how the only reason she had won was because he wasn't participating, but his gaze returned to her as she began speaking once more. "Silence yourself, or, I just might kill you." Ryuu's blood felt like it was boiling. He clenched his fists, unable to take it anymore. No one insulted him like that, no one. Everyone was around, the Angels, the Humans, the Vampires, and Ryuu resisted only because he wanted to save the stronger ones for later. But there is a limit to how much someone of his character could take. There's always a limit. And that limit had now been broken. Ryuu looked down at his arms, which were resting on his knees. At 6'5 and 250 pounds of muscle, he was built for competitions like this. A literal rhino. It was time for the Rhino to charge. Ryuu looked at her, and the people sitting around her. He thought to himself for a second. No room to maneuver, straight path, no exit, perfect. Ryuu spoke out loud as he rose from his seat. "F**k it." Ryuu broke into an immediate run, charged forward and plunged right into Bernkastel with a ramming motion, attempting to crush her with his weight and brute strength. |
Chapter 2 - Bernkastel Vermillia - Demon District
"F**k it." My eyes opened up to see "The Rhino" charging at his target; me. Just as I had planned, it was easy to make his blood temperature rise. He was going to crush me. He was going to kill me, now. I smiled softly, and my eyes went blank. "I'd rather not, Ryuu." He had miscalulated. Up. That was my exit point. Shizuka on my right, Marisa on my left. Perfect. Hopefully Marisa got the memo to move out of the way. Last second, and I whipped out my black-feathered demon wings. With one strong flap, I flung myself into the air, and above Ryuu before he could even blink. Had he not seen me in the previous games? I was known for three things on the first one. One, my speed. I landed where he used to be seated, with my arms extended at my sides as though I no longer needed my wings to fly to my safety. I raised my right hand to my mouth, and bit hard on my thumb. The iron-taste of blood seeped into my mouth, and I smiled. "Mammon," I slashed my bloodied thumb across my left wrist; leaving a trail of red in its wake. Almost immediately, symbols unearthed from my pale skin, which took the form of my blood. Spinning. Spinning. "Marisa. Shizuka. You might not want to sit there." Within seconds, a red smoke manifested over Ryuu, before plummeting down on his body. It swirled and swirled, but didn't do any harm. Finally, the smoke floated over to the space beside me, and took form. A real demon. Much taller and stronger build, she leaned towards Ryuu like a leopard ready to pounce. Red hair that was fashioned into a traditinal japanese ponytail, while her bangs hung loose over her forehead. Red eyes pierced the air, and practically through Ryuu as if he was nothing more than a pile of meat. All she wore, was the color of blood. A bloodied red dress that hung down at her knees, with bones lining the edges and her breastline. Real bones. I crossed my arms, and allowed everyone to take in my creation. "Alright. Everyone who doesn't want to die, search this place for cameras and listening devices." I ordered in my monotone voice. Almost immediately, Marisa, Fang, Amelia, Nokoto, and Faust rose to their feet and scrambled to search every inch of the helicopter. I looked at Ryuu, next. "You're too bold. You act without thinking of your opponent." I gestured to Mammon, and the demon let out a cackle, before pouncing onto the floor. Mammon was circling Ryuu now, her smoked, red demon wings lashing out like swords; coming within only feet of Ryuu. "...Don't you ever watch the Poppy Games, Ryuu?" I asked, sitting myself down on his seat. "Then you should know-if you got the hint, that is-...That I'm already dead." |
Ryuu rammed towards Bernkastel, his heart beating as he came close, only to witness her jump up. Or more specifically, fly up.
Damn, he thought. He had not expected that. He turned to face her again, his eyes boiling over with anger. He felt like he could bleed tears. Suddenly, Ryuu watched as Bernkastel bit her thumb, excreting blood. Wiping it on her wrist, Ryuu watched in confusion as she performed what to him seemed like some kind of sacrificial ceremony. But then something happened Ryuu did not expect, not in the slightest. "Mammon." She said as she made red smoke appear around Ryuu, and then the figure of a demon appeared. Caught off guard, and more than a bit surprised, Ryuu was tossed to the side, hitting hard on the floor. "Alright. Everyone who doesn't want to die, search this place for cameras and listening devices." Ryuu lay on the ground motionless for a moment, not saying a word. That was the first time in his life he was tossed like that, as if he was nothing. But it wasn't embarrassment that came over him. It wasn't as much anger either, although technically, he was always angry. It was a mixture of excitement, and determination. For the first time in his life, he had met with an opponent that had a very good chance of killing him, and he couldn't be happier. "You're too bold. You act without thinking of your opponent." Ryuu saw the demon come within a close distance of him. Bernkastel spoke again, but Ryuu was in a sort of trance, and didn't hear everything she had said. He was in his own mind now, excited about the possibilities. He was flung hard, but Ryuu was known to take a hit, still. This wasn't going to be enough to take him down. He came to just to hear the last of what she was saying. "...if you got the hint, that is-...That I'm already dead." Already dead? Ryuu thought to himself. He didn't understand, but he didn't care at the moment. Ryuu lay on the ground, observing some of the others move around the helicopter. It was his turn to retaliate, and as Bernkastel sat in his seat, she seemed to think he wasn't going to fight anymore, or perhaps that he couldn't fight anymore. But something was wrong now. He didn't feel like retaliating. Unusual, considering Ryuu is one to hold grudges, but Bernkastel had shown him a feeling unlike anything he had seen yet, and he felt, in a strange way-a way that would only make sense to him- that he owed her one. So he would do her the favor of not killing her. Although, from what she said, she seemed to be already dead. But this demon next to him was another story entirely. He felt aggravated with it so close to him, and he wanted it dead. It was superior in size, but Ryuu was quick for his size nevertheless. Had Bernkastel not had her speed to that height, Ryuu would have nailed her. Ryuu had thoughts running through his mind. He sighed on the floor, and began the motion. He summoned all his strength and leapt at the beast, grabbing it's arm and flinging it to the ground in a smash. The beast was leaning in, and he had a favorable position for this to happen. Next, he clenched his hands into fists, and began beating at it with them, and didn't stop. Punch after bash after blow after smash occurred as the Rhino let everything out on the demon. He even hit it with a headbutt, opening a cut on his forehead, from which he bled out. He kept it pinned, and didn't give it a chance to try and hit him back. And every blow he landed, the tried to make the next one twice as hard. Ryuu stopped after what seemed like hours to him of hitting the demon. His forehead bled steadily, his face covered his own blood. His hands were covered in a mixture of his own and the beast's blood as well. Ryuu sat beside the demon, panting hard. A pool of blood surrounded the area. He had let it all out on the demon, and had gained a great measure of satisfaction with it. He turned to Bernkastel, and smiled. Bernkastel might not have known this, but Ryuu had changed his opinion of her entirely. From now until the games, he wouldn't treat her like a weakling, or a pushover. From now on, she was an opponent, a fighter, and he had gained a bit of respect, however tiny, for her. Ryuu spoke, his voice still panting. "You say you're already dead?" He pointed to the demon next to him. "Well that makes two of you." |
Xavier's expression on the outside, you may wonder? Completely dull and emotionless. Xaviers expression on the inside however, was completely wide eyed. Ryuu being a complete retard like usual wasn't the surprising things. It was the facts that first off, this woman randomly comes out of literally nowhere, Bern basically ordered everyone to kill technology or they'd be dead themselves, she did an acrobatic style attack against the idiot, and also, that she was dead! She, was in fact, dead. How exactly was it fair for her to be in the games then, if she was dead? Bernkastel basically held an overwhelming advantage over him and the others by being dead. How did she die anyway?! She sure as hell didn't die in the 'poppy' games! That's for sure! These thoughts continued to race through Xavier's mind, who was now frozen in place from the sudden action going on inside the helicopter.
Instantaneously, almost an instant before her wavering eyes could see in his direction, he slowly went to the floor, searching for any bit of technology he could find. It made him irritated at the fact he was being ordered around like a dog. But hey, he should at least stay alive until the population games at least....Then he could be finally over with this horrible immortality.... |
Kerin led Marisa into the helicopter and smiled as he felt her cling closer as they approached it. She was absolutely terrified of everything! How would she last any time in the games if she was terrified of everything? That's why Kerin was here. He was here to protect her. Maybe that's why she was placed so high? Could... could the gods predict the future? Kerin shrugged as Marisa chose her seat and almost demanded in a quite excited voice that Kerin and Fang were to sit next to her. Kerin chose next to her and nodded and smiled at Fang as he chose the one over. He looked at him for a few seconds. Maybe he did recognise him?
"What was your name bef--" Kerin was interrupted by the arrival of humans. Kerin couldn't remember their names for the life of him but he looked at all their faces. They were all familiar but he still wasn't sure if that was because he had seen them on the TV or because he had known them before. He sighed a little. He envied them. All of them. Them and their humanity. Then the demons entered. Kerin could feel their somewhat evil auras but he felt... the same as them. Kerin smiled at himself. He was going crazy, definitely. The leader of the polls, that Bernie girl, strolled in quite nonchalantly and sat next to Marisa. Kerin swapped glances between Marisa and Bern...ka something and blinked as the guard placed a rose down her shirt and a lolly in her lap. Bernkastel (yes, that was it!) then placed it in Marisa's lap, who tucked it into her dress. Kerin leaned over to Marisa. "I wouldn't eat that if I was you," Kerin smiled a little but he was sure Marisa knew that already. She wasn't that stupid, surely. Then the angels entered. Them and their beauty. He looked away when they entered. He didn't care much for them but he was sure they could do some kind of hypnotic crap on him. He kept his head down as the members from districts quarreled a bit about nothing. He rose his head as Bernkastel spoke, her voice... cold. "You are not the highest of the demons. I believe my streak has made that known. A little girl beat you in the survey. So, how much of a threat are you, compared to her...?" She stopped. Kerin looked over at Marisa then shuffled closer to her again. He didn't want to see her getting hurt now. "Silence yourself, or, I just might kill you." Kerin looked back at the boy, a demon, she was talking too, his face red. She had hit a nerve and it didn't look like this guy could handle rejection well. He cursed then charged, heading for Bern. Who was sitting directly next to Marisa. Oh crap. Kerin didn't even hesitate. "Marisa!" Kerin yelled, easily tearing arm rest between them off, grabbing her, ripping her out of her seat and pulling her out of the way. But the boy never made impact with the seat. Infact, when Kerin looked back, Bernkastel was gone. She had moved over to where the boy had been sitting, a red demon was standing next to her and angry, red clouds smothering the other demon. Kerin wrinkled his nose as a familiar smell entered his nose. Blood. He swallowed and with his other hand, covered his nose and breathed through his mouth. He hadn't had anything to drink for days. "Alright. Everyone who doesn't want to die, search this place for cameras and listening devices," Bernakastel said cooly. Kerin lowered his hand from his nose and felt Marisa pull from his grip and search but Kerin didn't move. He just stared. He wasn't frightened, shocked or scared, he wasn't even nervous. He was interested. He wasn't staring at her demon or the boy, he was staring at Bernkastel. "You're too bold. You act without thinking of your opponent... Don't you ever watch the Poppy Games, Ryuu?" she sat down. Kerin blinked. She was so cool about everything, as if it didn't matter. It didn't matter if she died, it didn't matter if he died, it didn't matter if anyone died. "Then you should know -if you got the hint, that is- ...That I'm already dead." Kerin had finished looking and turned around, walking over to Marisa. Okay, so maybe it wasn't what he expected her to say but it wasn't that great of a thing to say either. On that logic, Kerin was dead too. A dead human. He brought his hand back to his nose. God that blood, it was such a terrible smell. Not because it didn't smell bad; it smelt wonderful infact. Like baking bread, melted chocolate and the sweetest perfume combined. It was that if he got too much of the smell, he wouldn't be able to stop himself. Like he didn't with Quinn. It wasn't hard to find a camera, Kerin's eyes could see them. He broke it easily between his fingers. He smiled a little. He sometimes forgot how strong he was in his last life, but he always forgot how strong he was here. He could probably easily punch a hole through the helicopter, though he wouldn't want to try. |
Chapter 2 - Bernkastel Vermillia - Demon District
I watched with little interest as Ryuu began beating on Mammon. Showing no restraint, while Mammon continued to lay there and cry out in pain. As this was happening, I slid out of my seat unworryingly, and walked over to Xavier. I watched as he searched around for the cameras and other devices I had specified. "...Xavier. What are you doing...?" I carefully grabbed his arm, and pulled him back into his seat. I shook my head slowly in disagreement. "I didn't mean you," I turned back to Ryuu, who seemed proud over what he had done. I walked over to Mammon's body, and sighed. She was too good at playing dead. But, I suppose I better play along for a bit. "Hm. I suppose that does." I kicked the body lightly with my foot, before leaning forward with my hand. I was going to strike Ryuu senseless, but instead, I found myself wiping blood off his forehead. "....When you're in the arena. When you fight an opponent? You shouldn't resort to physical attacks which will make you bleed. It'll be hard to stop wounds from infection....Keep that in mind." I took Ryuu's sticky blood between my fingers, before lowering down and crossing an 'x' on Mammon's forehead. "Rest in peace..." Mammon's body evaporated into her signature red smoke, before the smoke was drawn into the symbol on my arm. I straightened out, and adjusted my witch hat so I could survey everyone around me. "..." I looked back down at Ryuu. I had an odd sort of respect for the man, but not the kind you would think of at first glance. People would normally respect his strength, but...I wasn't normal. Nonchalantly, I grabbed Ryuu's bloody hand and steadied him to his feet. He reaked of blood. Poor vampires...Having this red teased in their presence... I immediately pulled my hand away from Ryuu when I remembered who exactly I was helping up. Didn't want to go through unnessesary pain... I looked around again, and addressed the people who were just finishing their search. "Is that all of them?" I waved to the small pile of little box-like devices. Well, the Gods knew of Mammon, now... Chapter 2 - Marisa Ryunatta - Vampire District I was hardly paying attention to everything that was happening around me. I just stayed in a shivering ball in Kerin's arms. The scent of blood made my thoughts fuzzy, and my senses decided to triple themselves when a fight broke out at Kerin's feet; practically. I quivered, and hopped myself away from the sight. I didn't want to see anyone else die! I made myself busy for the next ten minutes, doing as Bern had instructed. Overall, I found three tiny little camera bots, and one listening device... Why did Bern want these out now? When finally the smell lessened, I scrambled back over for Kerin's protection. The demon Bernkastel had summoned, was gone..And now only Ryuu's blood was what I sensed. It was faint, but it was there. I began to whimper, and dug my face into Kerin's chest. "H-hau..." I didn't want to be the one to answer to Bern. That Mammon girl she summoned, and the fight that broke out...Simply terrified me out of my mind! |
Kerin almost gagged as the stench of blood grew stronger and stronger with every blow to the demon. Stupid demon kid Ryuu, stop it! He felt his mouth watering and gripped tighter on his nose. It wasn't doing much, he could taste the aroma in the air. Marisa came back to him and dug her face in his shirt, which was now dirty thanks to her. It didn't matter that much, the only thing bothering him was the blood. He replaced his pinched fingers over his nose to his whole arm over both his mouth and nose, and used his other hand to hold Marisa tightly.
"Stop it, you stupid, retarded, idiotic... ugh, you stupid demon!" Kerin yelled at Ryuu, Kerin's voice muffled and nasally from his arm. The stench was too much and he turned away from the demons as Bernkastel turned her demon to mist. Ryuu stunk. He stunk good. It was smokey, like a grilled, rare steak. Kerin could feel his mouth water. No... no! You musn't, you musn't! He couldn't risk it, he could hurt Marisa in the process. He swallowed and pushed his arm into his mouth, almost biting on his arm but kept his grip on Marisa loose. He was almost panting and shivering a little. You can break through it, you can get through this! "Is that all of them?" Bernkastel said to them. Kerin quickly looked over and scanned the room. There was another camera behind a grate. Kerin hobbled over to his, pulling Marisa with him and punched a hole through the steel grate, crushing the camera as he did so. He scanned again... Yep, that seemed like it. "Yeah, yeah, that's all of them," Kerin replied irritably. "All I can see. Ugh, just... clean that up." He looked over at Ryuu, who was now standing. He felt no pity for the demon boy, he brought it on himself. |
Ryuu sat on the ground, a pool of blood around him, mostly of the demons, but quite a bit from him as well. He looked over the demon's body once more. Motionless it remained. Bernkastel walked up to it. And kicked it.
"Hm. I suppose that does." She said. She then proceeded to walked towards Ryuu. Ryuu expected a retaliation, but was surpised a bit when he didn't get one. She wiped some blood off of his forehead, speaking to him as she marked an x across the demon, and it disappeared in red smoke. Ryuu grunted at the x display. It was all to similar to the implied way Ryuu would mark his kills in his mind. It appears she had marked him literally for him. "....When you're in the arena. When you fight an opponent? You shouldn't resort to physical attacks which will make you bleed. It'll be hard to stop wounds from infection....Keep that in mind." Ryuu laughed a bit, still not quite sure what she was playing at. He tried to understand her angle. Bewildered, he remained silent, a half smile on his face, mostly from amazement at her response to this. "Rest in Peace." She said, as his body evaporated into red smoke. Bernkastel adjusted her hat, and surveyed the people around her, before looking back down at Ryuu. Ryuu in the meantime was panting a bit still, looking off into the "distance", if you could call it that, and thinking about what had happened, and what he had learned. If there was anything he had learned, it's that this event was going to be a lot more fun than he initially anticipated. Ryuu's thought process was broken as he was helped up by Bernkastel. Ryuu gave her a cold look, before accepting her arm and getting up. Right away, Bernkastel let go of him. Ryuu still eyed her for a bit, quite interested in her, something he wasn't before. To Ryuu, a fight or even a simple conflict could reveal a lot more about someone than a talk. He broke his gaze from her, and sat down in the empty spot on the helicopter. There was a different approach Ryuu had concluded from this. Leave the competition alone for now, let them be at their best for the Reaping. Then, go on a rampage, the hardest, bloodiest rampage he could muster. It would be tough, at least he knew that for sure. But if it wasn't tough, it wouldn't be fun. And boy, was he going to have some fun. |
Relax for as long as he could, yeah that's definitely not something Shizuka should have expected to receive when the Reaping was involved. The scene that had just taken place was definitely not one for the feint of heart, not that any of it had bothered Shizuka in the least bit - well that is except for the fact that he had to move from his seat. The demon Ryuu and Bernkastel had been having words the whole time, about what he didn't know as he'd tuned them out, and finally Ryuu had snapped and charged at Bernkastel. Shizuka's wings quickly unfolded themselves mere seconds before Ryuu landed and Shizu broke off to the right and away from danger. Bernkastel had used her own demon wings to fly upwards, while Marisa had moved to the left. It was then that Bernkastel spoke to both Shizu and Marisa.
"Marisa. Shizuka. You might not want to sit there," was all she said before red smoke surrounded and engulfed the other Demon. Shizuka didn't hesitate, his face still emotionless but his eyes showing complete shock at the power that the female demon was showing. While walking to a better vantage point away from the immediate danger of being dragged into a fight, the red smoke that Bernkastel had created made it way back over to where Bern had landed and began to take form - the form of another demon who Bernkastel called Mammon. "Alright. Everyone who doesn't want to die, search this place for cameras and listening devices," snapped Bernkastel to the remaining competitors - most of whom quickly scattered around the helicopter to do as she bidded. Shizu stood exactly in the same spot knowing that if he showed fear of her now, she wouldn't see him as competiton and he would definitely have left himself vulnerable to attack. His thoughts were again interrupted by Mammon beginning to circle and entice Ryuu ever more, but it didn't last very long as Ryuu lunged and began pummeling the demon creation into the ground. Blood began to splatter slightly on the walls closest to them and finally Mammon lay on the ground motionless and deep in a pool of blood, the blood also being Ryuu's as he'd split his head open during his assault. Just then the other competitors had returned and started making a pile of all the devices they had found. Bernkastel had walked over and had a few more words with Ryuu but she hadn't said them loud enough for everyone to hear, then she made some sort of mark on Mammon who then burst back into the red smoke from earlier and returned into the symbols on Bernkastel's arm - symbols Shizuka had not seen until now. Symbols on her arm. Definitely something to keep in mind with regards to her fighting abilities. "Is that all of them," asked Bernkastel yet again interrupting Shizu's thoughts. This Reaping had only becoming more and more interesting by the second and Shizuka began to realized he needed to start focus on observing everyone now before the Reaping actually begun, otherwise he was going to be at a serious disadvantage. Nevertheless he wasn't going down without a fight. He made his way over to Amelia to see how she was doing, he placed his hand on her shoulder making her jump slightly - he had caught he off guard as she stared at Bernkastel and Ryuu. "Are you alright?" |
-Raike watched as Ryuu tore his eyes away from him to stare at Bernkastel. She had said before, that he was not the highest of the demons, and that he had also been beaten by a girl in the polls. Raike nodded in agreement, and cracked a half smile at the last part of the sentence. When she claimed that she could kill Ryuu, Raike didn't doubt her, which was why he hadn't been too smart with her, and half of the reason he hadn't talked to her. Well, eventually, the inevitable happened, and Raike watched as Ryuu went and tried to impale Bern with his horns.
He raised his eyebrows slightly as Bernkastel flew up above Ryuu, and then landed back in her seat, before biting her thumb and wiping the blood across her wrist. Some kind of demon emerged a red mist, and hovered beside Bern. Mammon was her name, and Bern seemed to have set her on Ryuu. This had the opposite effect of course, because Ryuu just grabbed her, and started pounding the crap outta of her. Eventually after a few hours, Ryuu ceased with the pummeling, and Raike watched as Bern simply walked over and drew an X on Mammons head in blood, after which she dispersed to dust. Ryuu sat in a large pool of blood, mostly from Mammon's, but some of his also. He also seemed to be looking at Bern, with a more respectful glare, and he also had a half smile on his face. Raike crossed his arms, but held his legs up to avoid the blood pool.- "Well, I hope you got the last of that rage stuff outta your system Ryuu, because I doubt we can get another copter. You wanted blood, and you got it. Good show." -Raike said closing his eyes- |
Xavier was still grumbling inside his head, when he heard Bernkastel's voice beside him. "...Xavier. What are you doing...?" Bernkastel abruptly took his arm, and dragged him all the way back into his seat. For once, Xavier's surprise showed clearly on his face. Mouth gaping, hair out of his wide eyes, and the brown set scanning her body rapidly. He remembered what had happened on the train....But for some odd reason, he hadn't expected that. "I didn't mean you."
He shook his head lightly once she was out of view, couldn't let anybody see more of his emotionfull face. It might have them think he was uncapable or something....But who would be frightened of him anyway? All he was being was an emotionless teenager. It wasn't like Bernkastel. She was one to be scared of because she had actually won these games. Twice. Twice! And she didn't even escape to the safety of the victor's district. Xavier however, would've gladly taken the opportunity to go there. Although, he would've just gone there to not have to deal with people anymore, not to run away from the games. Hm, interesting. Xavier turned his his head towards Ryuu's direction, cautiously taking a small look at the 'corpse'. Yeah...There was no way that the demon dubbed Mammon could possibly be dead. I mean really? Who in the right mind would've thought that Ryuu would just kill a demon that fast? Her skin wasn't pale enough to be from blood loss, and she didn't even give off that she was earth-born. Well, seems like everyone else was convinced.....Idiots....Even Bernkastel sounded as if she was being sarcastic, which she didn't really give out that tone, but when you've spoken blank your whole life....It's like a whole other language that only you, and other emotionless people can understand. It's sort of odd, really. "......Well Ryuu, it seems as if your ego got a fair amount of feeding today, hm.....? God, you're an idiot......." Xavier let out a small sigh, turning to glance at the ones on the floor, then to Paris, then back to Ryuu. |
Ryuu was satisfied, his bloodthirst was quenched. However, he was more than ever eager to arrive and begin the games. One thing was proven clear: he had competition. But to be fair, that was from a demon, a two-time winning demon. He was still unsure if the humans and the angels would provide similar entertainment. After all, they were raised in different worlds. For those of the vampire and demon districts, many had to fight quite a lot. In Ryuu's case, he had gotten into fights every day, and repetition makes you better. The humans were less so capable, and most probably weren't fighters, as he realized. He had a good feeling who was going first in the competition. His thought process was interrupted by Raike speaking.
"Well, I hope you got the last of that rage stuff outta your system Ryuu, because I doubt we can get another copter. You wanted blood, and you got it. Good show." He stared at Raike and smiled, but his speech was anything but pleasant. "If you like what I did there, just wait what I do to you in the Reaping. This of this as a...prelude." His concentration broke off from Raike however, as he heard the other demon, Xavier, speak towards him. "......Well Ryuu, it seems as if your ego got a fair amount of feeding today, hm.....? God, you're an idiot......." Ryuu looked at him. He knew the reaction Xavier would most likely expect, perhaps some violence, some rage, and under normal circumstances yes, Ryuu had a reputation to keep up, after all. But Ryuu, as mentioned earlier, wasn't someone who got offended when insulted. To him, it was just an excuse to kick the living hell out of the person. But this case should be the same. Xavier was a demon, surely he would be strong. He wanted to fight him where it counted, in the arena. Ryuu offered a rebuttal, nonetheless. "Ha! You think I do this to quell some sort of ego? Let me tell you, demon, I do this for a different reason. I do this because I love it. Like so many others who continue to do the things they love, so will I. The end result matters not to me, but the process of doing so does. Do you not yourself want to do the things you like, the things you enjoy? Because those who deny themselves this are who I believe are the true idiots. Very much so like the angels enjoy their praying or the humans enjoy their pottery-making, or whatever it is they do. I too have my enjoyments, my hobbies, and this so happens to be one of them. So judge me all your want, I suppose it won't matter for much longer anyways, you'll be dead soon..." Ryuu looked away again, and for the first time, examined all of the people individually. His faced turned to the competition, one by one. Raike was a human, but he still expected some fight from him. He knew he had some sort of training, some sort of fighting background, he could feel it. Xavier was a given tough, a demon. As was Bernkastel, and she just proved it. The angels made Ryuu's stomach churn. He really didn't expect any sort of fight from them. None of them. That goes same for the humans, expect perhaps Raike. Then there's the vampires. Mixed feelings, from Ryuu. Marisa should be tough. Perhaps she didn't look it, but she was. Kerin was a sympathetic fool, at least to Ryuu, and he expected no trouble from him. As for the rest, bait. That's how Ryuu saw it. The demons were the threat, the vampires less so, but still opposition. The humans and the angels shouldn't give him much trouble, maybe one or two, but most of them were in the wrong place. Too bad for them, it seemed. Ryuu cracked his neck, and moved around his shoulders, which tensed a bit. He was looking forward to the Reaping, but first... "When will this damn helicopter take off?!" |
Chapter 2 - Amelia Kunjui - Angel District
I looked up at Shizuka, with my hands covering most of my snow-pale face. My eyes were wide in fear. I just watched a demon being beaten to death. Blood... I pulled up my bare feet to share my seat, with my hands now holding the sides of my head. Again and again I saw behind my closed eyelids as the final blow struck her. The blood splattering at my heels... I shook my head at Shizuka's question. "N-...No, I'm not..." I mumbled admittingly. I removed my hands, with my eyes squinted up at his face. His nightstreak black wings were coiled behind him, however I could just make out a few feathers gliding down at his sides. It calmed me, to known he was my ally. My head swung to the sides, when Ryuu yelled a question about our departure. I looked back at the metal, which formed the hallow machine encasing us. Hesitantly, I touched the surface. "..." After a few seconds, I replied to Ryuu. "W-we're already in the air. H-have been since the doors closed. Um... Two more hours until landing." When Pewita shot me a suspicious look, I couldn't help but jump, squeak, and add; "T-that's my guess, anyways." Of course it wasn't a guess. I had lied about that part. Though, it wasn't a very good lie... With my touch, I could see everything that everyone else couldn't. The wild birds... White bodies and grey-tipped feathers, hovering among the clear blue sky... The white sea trapped creatures under the surface, but large, elephant-sized things would sometimes break this barrier. I watched a dark patch; a fish jumped out, but... It never made it back to the water. I frowned, and watched the helpless fish squirm around until it disappeared from my view. It was as if that fish had hit an unnoticeable glass sheet carefully layered atop the sea... We must be up north still. Even though the heating system kept us warm in here... Outside, was a frozen wasteland. Where my people used to florish. Chapter 2 - Pewita Humoi - Angel District Do you know what I enjoy? Do you know what makes me giddy in happiness? What my best dreams are about? People getting beaten bloody... Not any kind of person, but people who think they're oh-so-better than us like Amelia, or in this case, Mammon. Though, it did sadden me that it was Ryuu beating her down into the metal and not me. I wanted to be the one with bloodied fists. The one having a broken body beneath my feet. I held in my urge to hit someone. Better I save my strength for the real thing. Maybe I could break some sort of record for the most kills! That idea made me excited. What I needed to do, was expand my allies. Ryuu would be a good choice, but he didn't seem too fond of angels. Heck, of his own species! How could I convince him, I was worth having as an ally? Bernkastel, even though she was a two-time winner and obviously powerful, didn't seem to be an ally of his. Was he perhaps, stupid? If he was, I would need to steer clear. Stupid people are alot more dangerous than smart people. Why? Because it's impossible to tell what they're going to do next. I was not going to bring myself into that sort of situation. When Ryuu was done yelling at us, I was shocked to find Amelia's voice enter my ears. I had expected her to faint over the stench of a fight. When I looked over in her direction, I couldn't help but smirk. She was trying dearly not to cry. The weakling... Another surprise awaited me. How could she possibly know we were already in the air, and, to top it off, that we were two hours away from our desination? I shot her a look, which made her squirm around and add that it was her 'guess'. Yeah, you weren't fooling anyone except stupid people. I certainly was not stupid, so the joke was on her. Chapter 2 - Marisa Ryunatta - Vampire District I scrunched up my nose at the lingering scent of blood. I wasn't as overpowering with it, than Kerin was. Being sensitive to scents was both a blessing, and a curse. In the arena, us vampires would be able to sense a fight from a mile away. Being who I was, I would head in the opposite direction; away from the potential enemy. Shiro would be a different matter. She would head towards the fight, in hopes of both a kill and a drink. For our group of allies, that wouldn't be a problem. We could just feed off animals or ourselves if there wasn't an easy kill laying around. Although, I don't think I would be able to sink my fangs into a rabbit... They're just too cute!... On second thought, maybe Fang or Kerin would allow me to drink from them... They'd understand! Once Ryuu was seated, I scurried myself over to Kerin, and held out a tablet. "Uuu. Here," I placed it inside his palm, and wrapped his fingers around it. I hoped he knew what it was. A blood capsule. These things were made vampires, for vampires. This tablet tricked the mind into believing they just has a drink. This capsule would keep even the most blood-thirsty of vampires satisfied for about four hours. Suddenly, I had an idea. If it worked for vampires, couldn't it work for demons? I smiled brightly and ran over to Ryuu. "Here!" I held out the single capsule in my outstretched palms, awaiting the boy to take it. |
"Here."
Kerin looked down into his palm. Oh! A blood capsule! He hastily thanked Marisa and swallowed it whole. Kerin had never liked actually drinking blood; it reminded him too much of what he was. He had either lived off bloody steaks (though even then he felt bad enough for the cow), these capsules and sometimes even his own blood, despite the amount of pain. He exhaled as he felt the capsules take its effect. He was able to take his arm away from his face. The blood still smelt good, but now it was like baked bread after a three course meal; it still smelt good, but you didn't really want to eat it. Kerin was about to thank Marisa but she broke from his hold again and toddled over to Ryuu. What?! "Marisa, no!" Kerin quickly stepped over to her, and stood next to her. She had her hand outstretched to Ryuu, with another capsule in it. Kerin looked up and at Ryuu. Why did he need it, he was covered in blood. Kerin sniffed but didn't pull Marisa away. She could do what she wanted, although talking to someone who had just beaten the living crap out of another demon was probably not on top of Kerin's list of good ideas. |
Ryuu closed his eyes for a moment, and daydreamed about the coming slaughter. A subtle voice was heard on the outside, but he didn't really listen to it. He was in his own world now.
It was very clear that many would die, very soon. Ryuu, at this point though, has had a bit of change of heart. First going into this competition, he believed he would easily defeat it. Now, he wasn't so sure. Now, he had competition. He soaked in the idea that this might be his final fights. He felt a hole in his body, and emptiness, as if he had been doing something for so long, and now he believes that emptiness will be filled. This is the culmination of his whole life of death and fighting. It was actually quite a beautiful moment, in Ryuu's eyes. Others would find it quite sickening. They say that you show your true colors right before you die. Ryuu believed that, as many of his past victims begged and begged. Others cursed his name. There were few that piqued his interest. One smiled. He never got his name, but he smiled right before death, a smile that still pictured in Ryuu's memories, as if burned in there, similar to the emblem now burned on his forearm. To this day, Ryuu has never understood why that demon smiled. Maybe one day, he'd find out. Ryuu opened his eyes to see Marisa, the vampire come up to Ryuu and hold out something, saying "Here!" A smile was on her face. Ryuu was less happy about it. He looked at her, half puzzled, half pissed off, you know, his usual personality. He looked at her intently, his very words could be felt with hatred. "What the f**k is this?" He grabbed it, looking at her, one of the expected best in the competition. It was safe to say Ryuu might have hated her the most. "Get the f*** away from me!" Ryuu shouted at her. He turned his attention to the capsule she gave him. He wondered what it was. |
Kerin quickly pulled Marisa back as the demon boy Ryuu swiped the capsule from her hand. He inspected her hand hastily. Thank god, the ass hole didn't hurt her. He took the capsule though. That wasn't any kind of thanks though. Kerin gave Ryuu a dirty look. Ugh, the blood was so strong. It was lucky that Marisa had given him the capsule now and not before otherwise Kerin would probably be licking it off the ground and Ryuu now.
"Ass hole, that's no way to thank someone. She's only trying to help," Kerin snapped at Ryuu. Sure, this probably wasn't a good idea but this guy... this guy pissed Kerin off so much. To just waltz around, saying he was the best even though he pretty much has his ass handed to him on a plate by Bernkastel. These were the kind of guys Kerin could not tolerate back in the human district, the ones that teased him and his family. He exhaled, trying to control his anger. Oh come on, one more threat would be okay. "Swallow it. I hope you choke on it." |
Ryuu examined the capsule intently. He wasn't one to accept help from anyone, ever. But whatever it is, whether a trap or a simple offering of peace, Ryuu cared not. He most likely would never have use for it. He put it away into his coat pocket. Ryuu stared randomly at the ground now, but heard someone say something.
"Ass hole, that's no way to thank someone. She's only trying to help," Ryuu looked up, and examined the person who had spoken to him. It was a vampire, the one who sat next to Marisa. Ryuu didn't speak, but instead held his gaze steadily at him. The vampire exhaled. "Swallow it. I hope you choke on it." Ryuu gave him a gaze. He studied him for a moment. He knew right away, he didn't like him. Ryuu memorized his face and clothing, and painted him out. He would be one of the first he targeted. "I didn't ask for her help. What the f**k is she thinking, that we are all buddies or something? You do realize we'll be fighting each other until we die, right? That means that one of us will live, and the rest, ALL the rest, are dead. So enough with your petty 'alliances' and 'teams', and your 'friends'. Don't you understand that you'll have to kill each other eventually? So excuse me if I am reluctant to accept help from someone I'm going to try to kill pretty soon anyways. And you, you should understand that soon, very soon, you might have to try to kill her as well. So I'd appreciate it if you'd f**k off for now. I'll be seeing you in the Reaping soon though, very soon." Ryuu turned away, closing his eyes and leaning back on his seat. Two hours from landing, and counting. |
"And you, you should understand that soon, very soon, you might have to try to kill her as well. So I'd appreciate it if you'd f**k off for now. I'll be seeing you in the Reaping soon though, very soon," the demon boy turned around, sat in his seat and closed his eyes. Figured. He was probably all blooded out from his fight with Bernkastel's pet. Kerin wasn't looking for fight, but he did expect one and was ready for one. This kid fought on rage alone, so it would be easy to dodge his swings unless he had you pinned down, hence the fate of that other red demon. Getting in a good shot would be easy, to aim for the wings then go for the vitals. Anyways, it didn't matter. He wasn't going to fight him.
"I want to change that," Kerin said, glaring at Ryuu, his temperature rising again. It was true though. If Kerin followed the rules correctly, he'd have to kill Marisa (and Fang) to survive. But had anyone rebelled before? What if everyone fought against those keeping them in this stupid game. Even if it came to just him and Marisa, Kerin would find a way. For them both to live. He exhaled again. Calm down Kerin, fighting now won't get you anywhere, you gotta think about who you could hurt... there. Better. "I'm going to change that." He pulled Marisa away from Ryuu and sat her back in a seat, on the other side of Bernkastel and sat next to her. Bernkastel seemed to know her stuff and at the moment, her and Ryuu had a disagreement going. Therefore, hanging near her was a good idea. Besides, what did this Ryuu kid know about alliances and friends anyways. All of Kerin's other friends were gone. These were his only ones. He intended on keeping them. "Let's not go near the blood thirsty maniac again, okay?" he said quietly into Marisa's ear, his voice low enough so only she could hear him (hopefully). "If you want to make friends, try with someone who won't cut your throat when you talk to them." His eyes flickered to Bernkastel. Okay, sure, she was pretty violent in her fight but Fang was right. She would be a good ally. |
Chapter 2 - Bernkastel Vermillia - Demon District
I watched, a blank expression painted across my face, as the fragile, little vampire not only approached Ryuu, but offered him a suspicious capsule inside her palm. The way she acted... It was as if she thought of him as a friend. According to Ryuu`s past behavior, he was lucky a little girl decided he wasn`t -that- threatening. He didn`t seem like the sociable type, unless his definition of a friendly hug was around their throat. With Marisa`s tiny hands extended to him like that, i pictured a mouse venturing into grass, where a snake laid in wait. And, as if he heard my thoughts, Ryuu snatched at the capsule, and hissed curse-filled questions at her. A warning for Marisa to back off before he attacked. A tiny girl against a giant like himself? He could flatten her to death just by laying on her. Crush every bone in her body. Though, it may not be as easy as i had imagined. Marisa, with her agile, swift feet could easily outrun Ryuu. Climb twenty feet up a tree within seconds. So, she wasn`t completely 0/100 against Ryuu. Just hope she didn`t find herself in physical combat. My attention turned to the boy Marisa had taken refuge behind. The boy -Kerin- was exchanging words with Ryuu in the vampires defense. Kerin, a vampire himself, seemed to be the most level-headed out of all fifteen of us. Perhaps sixteen, because Jin didn`t exactly catch my eye as a strawberry. More like the poisonous nightshade. Anyways, back onto Kerin... Though his posture was strong, it was easy for me to notice how he didn`t bare his fangs. Vampires had the habit of doing so when their mood was `ruffled`, so... It led me to suspect he wasn`t too keen on who he was. Someone who questioned their species... I highly doubted he knew Marisa from before the reaping, so why did Marisa seem so comfortable, hiding behind his back? Why did he rush to her aid? (To be editted) No simple alliance i knew of, was that protective of one another. Unless... Unless Kerin felt some sort of pity for Marisa. Not Marisa exactly, but who she came out to be. A defenseless, friendly teen whom not only had the misfortune of being thrusted into the games, but also to be falsely accused in the surveys as a threat. Or, did it run deeper than that? A sense that Kerin had to protect her, over something he previously did, or that she reminded him of some loved one he was connected to? My attention swiveled back onto their hostile conversation. Well, not hostile on Kerin`s part, but definitely so for Ryuu. The Rhyno was going on about how there was only going to be one winner, which technecially wasn`t true. Rebellion. That`s what rang in my head at Kerin`s final words to Ryuu. He practically announced that he was going against the rules of the Population Games. Which, mind you, was a big no-no in the Gods eyes. He was just lucky all the previous devices weren`t picking up on his bold choosing of words. I lowered my eyesight to the floor, as Marisa was placed back beside me. Now was my chance to expose how important these games were. "... Ryuu, technecially there can be four winners at most. However, that isn`t the case this year..." I looked back around at all the faces. Faust seemed slightly peeved at something. Paris wasn`t really paying attention. I didn`t care if she heard me or not. Besides her, i mostly had everyones attention again. "The Gods are planning for there not to be a winner this year. No survivers. And, Kerin just unconsciously proved what i`m saying. Most, if not all of us, are against the God`s Government... So, they are going to eliminate us before we can cause a shift in power... They don`t want me here especially. They want me gone so i can`t take over their government." |
-Raike watched as the little girl ran up to Ryuu with a little capsule in her hand. Raike shook his head slightly, predicting what was about to happen. Apparently, Ryuu seemed to tired to try and rush that girl because all he did was snatch the capsule from her, then curse her out, so much for keeping kids minds pure. As the kid then went to take shelter behind Kerin, Bern decided to take advantage of Ryuu's previous threat to explain just what was going to go down this year's game. Apparently there was to be no winner this year, which meant they were going to just assimilate all of us.
She also stated that the Gods wanted her gone especially, so she couldn't take the leading position of the rebelion to overthrow the current government. In a sense, this could also mean that each one of the people here where chosen, not randomly, but handpicked, each for some particular skill they posessed that could greatly increase the chances of a rebellion victory. He closed his eyes once more, and began to speak.- "Okay Bernkastel, we know why they want you dead, but what about us? I can see that Ryuu would be an excelent warrior in a rebelion, but he only cares about killing, an unreliable source of power. Shiro... well she's just freaking psychotic, and I don't know about Marisa well, not yet at least. Even me? If anything I really didn't do much in my own district... well not as much as the rest of you." -Raike sighed, going back over his record in his mind. He had done some things he regretted, but almost nothing servere enough to be rendered a threat, at least he thought.- |
"The Gods are planning for there not to be a winner this year. No survivors. And, Kerin just unconsciously proved what I'm saying," Kerin's eyes moved over to Bernkastel again as she mentioned his name. Well, at least one person had bothered to remember his name. "Most, if not all of us, are against the God's Government... So, they are going to eliminate us before we can cause a shift in power. They don't want me here especially. They want me gone so I can't take over their government." Kerin nodded in agreement. He didn't want anyone to die. Well, maybe perhaps Shiro or Ryuu since they were just bat crap crazy, but he didn't really willed for them to die, right now. Perhaps if they threatened his or maybe Marisa's (or perhaps Fang's too!) life, but not now. They hadn't done anything yet.
"Okay Bernkastel, we know why they want you dead, but what about us?" One of the human boys spoke up. Kerin blinked at him. Human... he was human. No, now was not the time for self pity! "I can see that Ryuu would be an excelent warrior in a rebelion, but he only cares about killing, an unreliable source of power. Shiro... well she's just freaking psychotic, and I don't know about Marisa well, not yet at least. Even me? If anything I really didn't do much in my own district... well not as much as the rest of you." Kerin almost laughed at the boy's response. How could he say that kind of thing out loud? Right in front of their faces? If Ryuu was actually paying attention, the human had nothing to protect him against anything. Just his arms, which would be barely useful against a demon's strength. Besides, Ryuu was not a excellent warrior. Kerin agreed with the second half of his statement. Yes, that was an unreliable source of power. And yes, Kerin hadn't done anything in his district that made him a threat of any sort. He had stayed quiet, never associating with anyone for his three years as a vampire, except for the odd fight once every two weeks that he did to protect someone else but that hardly made him dangerous. "You... haven't even seen the real Shiro," Kerin's eyes drifted over to the drunken vampire. She was still quite dazey, she hadn't really moved that much since Fang had strapped her in. Like she wasn't even taking in anything. At all. When would the drugs wear off? "But... I agree with Bernkastel." Kerin fumbled with the pronunciation. Wait, what was he agreeing with? "I think that... that we shouldn't have to die. For amusement." There. Yeah. That's what she said, right? |
Clicking my tongue inside my mouth, i leaned back and took in what the two boys had to say. "....." My eyes were still trained on Fausto`s shoes, when i finally spoke up. "...Yes, and are you saying he is the only unreliable one? Also...Ryuu isn`t here just for his brutual strength..." I looked up, to catch Ryuu`s eyes. "The government is just fine with him killing off demons. After all, the Gods want our population cut in half... The thing is, Ryuu killed an undercover God, and the Dominant God did not like that." I breathed out a sigh, and crossed my arms over eachother. I hated this. Explaining. Talking. I wanted to be unsociable, but these people were... "Agreed, Kerin. Shiro`s only here because she`s drugged up. Her temper is beyond anything..." My gaze ran back to Kerin. "My name is hard to pronounce, i know. But yes, these games aren`t just to lower the population. Its a sort of entertainment for them. Sickening..." My tattoo reappeared back on my wrist; flashing in and out of focus. A snake. It curled around my wrist, with its patterns playing around on its skin. "....." I used my other fingers to softly pet the snake. As if it was the real thing. I lowered my voice to a whisper, as i soothed the tattoo. "Lucifier, now isn`t the time... Later." I watched, as the snakes beady eyes trained onto my face. But, the snake obeyed; sliding up my arm. I could feel it move over my shoulder...Between my breasts before settling onto my stomach where nobody could see.

Xavier didn't turn an inch, nor did he even give a bother to actually listening to Ryuu's drawnout retort. God, Xavier already knew what 'The Rhyno' was basically going to say anyway. This is exactly what he thought Ryuu was going to say: 'Blah blah blah kill you blah blah blah you're all gonna die blah blah blah Me is winner blah blah blah kill blah.', which is basically what he said. And he already knew about the whole, liking killing, thing. Ryuu had already showcased that. He already 'killed' whoever Mammon was. If anybody's gonna be killed first though, it's Ryuu. Xavier probably won't be the first to kill him, but most if not all the others, are going after him first. Well, that's just a guess. "........" The boy was talked to loud and too much.
Although, he did turn his face to watch the girl-Marisa, run up to Ryuu and hold out a capsule. Most likely that it was a blood capsule, as she was a vampire. ".....?" It didn't surprise him to find that Ryuu replied in a hostile manner, but he was slightly surprised to find another vampire rush over to her side. His solid memory immediately brought up the name- Kerin....Hm. Xavier's concealed eyes scanned across the three, although he was tempted to cover his ears from all the noise. Didn't any of these people know when to be quiet? Or to enjoy a moment of a lock of noise? Xavier couldn't stand so much volume in a room for so long. Or anywhere for that matter. "......" 'Finally, a moment of sile-!!!' The sudden solemness was broken by Bernkastel, as she announced the fact that there was to be no winners this year. Xavier merely rolled his unseeable eyes at the news, then clutched his head in pure annoyance. Too much talking, too much sound, and most importantly too many people. He had basically lived inside a single shack himself, only coming out for necessary supplies. Even then, his house was far away from where typically all the other demons were. Way too many people! "......" Finally having enough of all the speaking, Xavier swiveled his body to face the chamber walls. "....." Then he promptly bashed his head into the wall, seven times, and swiveled back to his prior position. What's bad is that he didn't show one single sign of emotion during the commotion, the wall now has a large dent in it, the left side of his face is now beginning to have his own blood trickle down his face, and how nonchalantly he was about it. Although what was good, (For Xavier anyway) was that he couldn't hear a single thing, besides a small ringing in his ears. To him, it was so much better than to listening to talking. "......" |
"... Ryuu, technecially there can be four winners at most. However, that isn`t the case this year..."
Ryuu looked back at Bernkastel. Normally, he wouldn't care much for what people usually would be saying, but he had the feeling whenever she would be speaking now, it would be fore important reasons. Ryuu didn't believe her to be one who would speak for now reason. "The Gods are planning for there not to be a winner this year. No survivers. And, Kerin just unconsciously proved what I`m saying. Most, if not all of us, are against the God`s Government... So, they are going to eliminate us before we can cause a shift in power... They don`t want me here especially. They want me gone so I can`t take over their government." Ryuu was silent. Ryuu had not accounted for a political agenda behind all of this. So apparently most of the people here were opposed to the God's government, at least, according to Bern. Especially Bern. Ryuu remained silent as the rest began to speak. It was Raike who spoke next. "Okay Bernkastel, we know why they want you dead, but what about us? I can see that Ryuu would be an excelent warrior in a rebelion, but he only cares about killing, an unreliable source of power. Shiro... well she's just freaking psychotic, and I don't know about Marisa well, not yet at least. Even me? If anything I really didn't do much in my own district... well not as much as the rest of you." Ryuu was silent. He had caused a lot of commotion in his own district. Was this really their answer to that? He assumed they wouldn't care either way. Still, it angered Ryuu a little that people were thinking that he was going to help them in some rebellion. At least, that was the thought of some of the people around. Ryuu was here for one reason, and one reason only: to participate in the Reaping. He had been denied that by his parents years and years in a row, and now, he wanted to participate. Not in some rebellion against the Gods, no. He wanted to be here for the Reaping. Ryuu was a man of simple tastes. He cared not what government was in power, and how corrupt or malevolent they were. As long as Ryuu got to do what he wanted, he didn't care. Still, he respected Raike's answer, not a quick assumption, but a educated guess, a right guess. Ryuu had no intention of helping them overthrow the God's government, or whatever ideas they had going on in their mind. He also respected, to some VERY small degree, his fearlessness. He was a weak human, and he spoke without regret of what comes out of his mouth, an answer that was direct. Ryuu held back a smile. "I think that... that we shouldn't have to die. For amusement." Ryuu heard the vampire next to Marisa say. A single word came to Ryuu's mind right away. Coward. When this contest would begin, Ryuu knew who he would want to go after first. He looked over the vampire, hated seeming through his eyes. "...Yes, and are you saying he is the only unreliable one? Also...Ryuu isn't here just for his brutual strength..." Bernkastel looked at Ryuu, as he now looked at her, wondering what she was thinking in her mind at the moment. "The government is just fine with him killing off demons. After all, the Gods want our population cut in half... The thing is, Ryuu killed an undercover God, and the Dominant God did not like that." She continued saying. Ah, so the truth comes out. Ryuu thought. Ryuu wondered how she knew about that in the first place. Quite an information connection, but then, someone who claims to want to take over their government would probably be well-informed. "My name is hard to pronounce, I know. But yes, these games aren't just to lower the population. Its a sort of entertainment for them. Sickening..." This was one thing he agreed with them. He was no one's puppet, and he while he would enjoy the Reaping, he had no intention of dancing for the God's entertainment, at least, not for the whole time. He would play along with them, for now. But all these people talking about possible rebellion, or cowardice in some case, was rather sickening. His thoughts were interrupted by a banging on the wall, by Xavier. He looked over the demon, wondering what caused him to do it. Whatever the reason, and whatever the outcome, the point was that Ryuu was here for one thing: The Reaping. He would participate, and if he won, if he was the last one there, then he would try to do something with the God. Perhaps go on a killing spree, perhaps bring their entire government down, who knows? The world could be as Ryuu wants it. Or he could die trying. Perhaps he wouldn't even make it that far. Perhaps he would be killed by one of these people. And if that happened, if he died in battle against these guys, or if he happened to survive and die fighting against the God's, well, that would sit alright with him as well. As said before, Ryuu was a man of simple tastes, and it was plainly obvious now: this event, and the events that immediately follow it would be the highlight of his life. |
Chapter 2 - Amelia Kunjui - Angel District
My heart stopped for a moment. Just a millisecond, but i could tell. The rhythm of how frightened i was. That`s how i knew i was still alive. Alive among a bunch of rebels and bloodlings. Which was worse? Even i couldn't tell. Wasn't there a saying about blondes in the Human District? That they were marked stupid? Well... It's also a belief stupid people couldn't catch a cold. Perhaps that worked with heartattacks? I must have blacked out, because i found that one girl from the Human District holding me up. Nokoto was her name, right...? Practical blue eyes that seemed to hold years of experience in something. Striking brown hair that fell at her shoulders. Her life story came to me from her fingertips. A refined hardworker that wanted to become a dance instructor. Two loving parents...A brother. A sister... The perfect family. They had everything. Not the richest family, but... They were happy with what they had. My throat managed a soft squeak, before i edged distance between us. Rebels. Bloodlings. And then her. The one perfection among negatives. So, just like one side of a ying-yang, she was that piece of white centered by black. Just dragged anywhere negativity went. Why was she here?! If all the participants were hand-chosen, why was she here? All of us deserved to die for our mistakes, but hers were so little... Practically nothing compared to our corruption. That's it! Her sister! She had been picked originally, but Nokoto took her place! She took the place of her sinning sister, knowing she would indeed die. She didn`t know anything about fighting. So, how could she possibly stand against a demon with bone-crushing strength, or vampires with their witchcraft? Even though some humans could become wizards with a price, she took the pure path. No, her bookshelves weren't filled with magic books, but ones of the thing she loved so much to do. Dance. The movements of the body, fixed perfectly to the rhythm of music. Everything is a rhythm. Everything is energy. Ahh... I'm spacing into different topics again...The vibrations of energy make up my Sense Feeling ability. Something i had been born with, anything i touch either becomes transparent to my eyes, or their lifestory is revealed before me. I guess its like... A fast-forward, slice-of-life movie with no pause or replay button. The only replays, are what the lifeform replays. It only pauses, when its finished. It finishes at the present. I can't see the future. The actual information i want, i can't see. How frustrating is that? Quite a bit. I cleared my parched throat, and let out a few coughs when my saliva became lodged. I had had nothing to drink since last night. When i sat down for my French Lessons 101. Such pointless stuff, because the only three languages that survived, were English, Japanese, and, oddly enough, Mexican. All others perished, but the culture did not. Oh! The cultures! The only beauty in this gruesome world... I heard rumors that the Human's celebrate these...Holidays with fireworks and feasts. The humans were so...Weak, yet they never seemed to have a dull moment. Humor that demons couldn't understand. Drinks that a vampire has never tasted, and more importantly, the people angels wish were their own. People with pride, spirit, and hope. Ones who take honor in everything they did or spoke. Humans may not me strong physically, but their mental capabilities were extraordinary. Ack! I`m doing it again! I sweatdropped, before waving to the perplexed Nokoto. I must have spaced out for a while, because Bernkastel was being some sort of 'Answer Guru'. Jeez Bern... It isn't like you to be so talkactive! I sighed softly. Seems she failed to tell me about this whole thing beforehand. Some reliable source she was... But, i had to hand it to her. She was taking things quite smoothly. Like a real leader would. Bernkastel wasn't one to lie, either... If everyone knew that, they wouldn't question her information. From the corner of my eye, i watched as a small, gold ring rolled onto the floor. Fausto's ring. I perked, stood up, and was about to pick it up as a kind gesture, when my hand brushed against the frantic humans. Instantly, his history blasted into my mind with such energy, i stumbled back. Huge buildings... A podium... Government leaders at a table, discussing the next poppy games... My eyes went wide, and before Fausto could speak, i rushed him; plunging my fist deep into his gut. Normally, the pressure to a human would have them keeling over and coughing blood. However, as i pinned him against the wall with only my fist, i heard a horrifying sound emitting from his vocals. Not words. Not screams. Laughter. A laughter that was first a few heartless chuckles, but soon grew to head-jerking, madman cackles. I backed off in surprise. My entire body in a chorus of twitching movements. Fausto stood against the wall, slowing is laughter as i saw him raise his head. I couldn't think at all, but...Funny thing is for such a proper lady like myself... My first thoughts were how horribly screwed we all were. "What did you do with Fausto?!" |
Kerin listened intently and nodded at the end of each of Bernkastel's phrases. It was as if Kerin was speaking through her, she was right about everything that Kerin seemed to have an opinion about. He looked over at Marisa. How could her dying be a form of entertainment?! She was a little girl! She probably could barely defend herself against anyone here. That's why Kerin needed to protect her. She was Dana, she was Nora, she was Quinn! She... was Quinn. Kerin wouldn't make the same mistake twice.
Almost out of nowhere, one of the angels grabbed a human, punched him in the stomach and pinned him up against the side of the helicopter. Kerin quickly got to his feet, and kept a hand outstretched in front of Marisa. The boy though, instead of gasping for air or yelping in pain, laughed. Laughed? Quite maniacally enough that the angel released him from her grip and stepped back, her eyes wide in fear. Kerin's eyes darted back and forth between the two. As far as he could see, there was no motive, why did she attack him? Was she another blood thirsty psycho? How many of those kinds of people were on this helicopter?! "What did you do with Fausto?!" Kerin frowned. So... was this boy not who he was or was she confused or was ... okay, well, the crazy laugh was one big clue that something was up. "What's going on!?" Kerin kept his hand protectively over Marisa. If this guy was to go nuts (well, more nuts), anyone could get hurt. |
Shizuka had been paying very close attention to everything that was going on around him, but his eyes remained shut so as not to appear too interested - make them walk on thin ice when it comes to figuring me out. Bernkastel, Ryuu, Kerin and Marisa had been the ones causing all of the commotion for the majority of the helicopter ride; others would chime in periodically when the time was right, but other than that not much had been going on. That was until just a few moments ago, Shizu quickly replayed the scene that had snapped him out of his pretend sleeping. It started with Bernkastel,
"... Ryuu, technically there can be four winners at most. However, that isn`t the case this year...The Gods are planning for there not to be a winner this year. No survivors. And, Kerin just unconsciously proved what I`m saying. Most, if not all of us, are against the God`s Government... So, they are going to eliminate us before we can cause a shift in power... They don`t want me here especially. They want me gone so I can`t take over their government." There was to be..no..winner..? That was when Shizuka knew he was completely missing out on some information, and he had the suspicions that Amelia and Bernkastel weren't letting on to all the information they had - hoping the little they do share will be enough to keep everyone at bay. Too bad for them Shizu was not everyone. His thoughts were again interrupted, this time by Raike, "Okay Bernkastel, we know why they want you dead, but what about us? I can see that Ryuu would be an excelent warrior in a rebelion, but he only cares about killing, an unreliable source of power. Shiro... well she's just freaking psychotic, and I don't know about Marisa well, not yet at least. Even me? If anything I really didn't do much in my own district... well not as much as the rest of you." And that was where Shizuka's mind clicked and registered the actual reason he had been picked for the Reaping, not by chance of having one of eighteen slips of paper chosen from a box by Taniko Kunjui. His talents for quick learning of multiple talents makes him a valuable asset as an expert in retaliating and adapting to different scenarios and environments. More and more people were becoming involved in the conversation, Kerin was the next speaker, "I think that... that we shouldn't have to die. For amusement." Bernkastel spoke up in rebuttle, "...Yes, and are you saying he is the only unreliable one? Also...Ryuu isn't here just for his brutual strength..." Bernkastel's attention shifted to Ryuu as she spoke, "The government is just fine with him killing off demons. After all, the Gods want our population cut in half... The thing is, Ryuu killed an undercover God, and the Dominant God did not like that." So Ryuu is here because he pissed off the wrong person, the person in charge of all of the districts. Nevertheless I'm sure they were also getting worried about him, from everything that's been shared about him he got on a lot of peoples bad sides and left bridges burning throughout the Demon district. Bernkastel continued to speak: "My name is hard to pronounce, I know. But yes, these games aren't just to lower the population. Its a sort of entertainment for them. Sickening..." Shizu was definitely going to need to get some more information out of Amelia, because whether she has more information or not - she'll be the one he'll have the least trouble getting it from, Bern has been through this carnival act for the gods twice before..she won't be easy to get on the same page with. Then suddenly Amelia attacked Fausto, catching everyone completely off guard as she'd been quite, to herself and nerve racking about everything that was happening to suddenly lunging and pinning someone to a wall. This girl was definitely not what Shizuka originally thought she was, he was going to have to be more careful. "What did you do with Fausto," Amelia screamed. The Fausto, or fake Fausto as is being said at the moment, character began to laugh at her assault. It was then that Kerin jumped in yelling, "What's going on!?" Shizuka made his way over and stood next to Amelia and stared intently into the eyes of Fausto, if there was going to be a fight again he'd be involved this time. He was going to do whatever it took to protect Amelia now to not only prove to her she can trust him, but to try and get Bernkastel to finally take notice of him and hopefully aide them in their quest. His personal goal to win the Reaping to prove himself no longer had meaning, not when there was corrupted enemies already planning against him. |
Chapter 2 - Marisa Ryunatta - Vampire District
I didn't cry at the news. The news Bernkastel had planned on telling us. However, she also didn't plan on telling us that Fausto was... Well, not him. Our bakery boy, wasn't naturally here. So, it took Amelia's touch to figure that out. Her Sense Feeling was quite the ability. Especially, with whom we were up against. However, I had not predicted that she would slam the boy into the helicopter. I yelped like the little, defenseless girl I was, when I felt the machine tip ever so slightly from the impact. Now Fausto was laughing. That definitely was not the tone of his voice. "Body Jumper," I squeaked, scrambling myself beside Kerin's body. He was a safe person to be with. Bern, I was still unsure of. I watched as one of the large, male angels positioned himself beside Amelia. Which, wasn't the best idea. "M-mister government person...? Can you please go away?" I asked innocently, staring at Fausto. He only laughed, and in the most low, auto-tuned voice, said; "Sweetheart, can you please go die in the arena for me? Thanks~" My eyes widened, and it wasn't because of how horrifyingly vengeful his fake voice sounded. Who was it, that called me sweetheart last? Why couldn't I remember this, when the future set before my hands was as clear as day? Perhaps that was the price to pay. The loss of my past, to gain a future in this defiant world? Unlike Amelia, who could see anything around her with a touch, I could could literally see, every pin-point move of the universe. Nobody liked playing memory games with me. I couldn't blame them. When I had the ability to see things before they happened. It wasn't like in those cheap, science fiction books where it came to me in a vision or dream. No no, I saw it. My world would run much more quickly, right until I had watched forty years of life, within forty seconds of my time. So, one could say the set up was like a chessboard, with one extra rule. That one rule, has made a big impact on my life. I can't physically age. I'm a twelve-year-old trapped in the body of a nine-year-old. A blessing and a curse. On one side, I can be the way I am; childish and fond of animals. While on the other, I can never really get my drivers license. I had Kerin thinking i was some little, poor child. Good and bad. One, I could keep his company. I wasn't using him. And, I didn't really mind...Cuddling up to him without a bunch of eyes coldly accusing me as I had seen being done to other teens. But, I didn't want to grow up. I was a child at heart, and I could act that way, until I died. To add to my terror, I whimpered softly at Fausto's threat, and made myself into a tiny ball on Kerin's lap. "Mew...." |
