Pairing? >_>

I've seen this in many users signatures already. Either it says "Pairing" "Paired with" or "Looking for a pair" at first, to be honest, I thought people were just asking for some pears but spelled it wrong. ^^' Anyway, I've also seen others that say "My pair" with a link to another users site. What is this, dating? o.0

It cooould be in some cases! But it's just like...pairing up with a good friend or something. For example, I'm paired with my best friends. :] It's just for fun, but like I said, some people do pair with their significant others. Plus, I obviously wouldn't be able to get away with dating two people at once. ;P

It can be dating. But can also be good friends. I prefer to see it as a form of "PC Dating" but it really doesn't count as such.

And to make it official when you're paired with someone, there's a pairing thread you can post in, for future references. :D

I have a pear! :D;

In order to stay relevant to the topic, yes, lots of people "pair" up with others on PC, whether for fun or because they're actually dating. People also have other relationships and stuff too, things like "brother" or "lil sis" or "taco" or anything. It's just kind of a PC thing - PC families are really just a way of showing your affection for someone else on the forums. :)

May I ask: what is actually fun about it?
All I can see it being is a nice little title for oneself ("X, pair of Y").

I guess there's no actually amusement value to it. It's just a cool, random thing people like to do. Call it a declaration of friendship if you will. :3

Like Pokepal said, it's more of a declaration of friendship than anything. There's nothing inherently "fun" about it except the fact that you are recognizing that you have a great friend in that person and the person thinks likewise of you. Is there any real purpose to pairing...? No, not really, except the fact that you're announcing to the rest of the forums that you have a cool friend. That's about it.

Well apart from declaring that you've got someone who is paired only to you, you can also get an emblem if your paired to the same person for a year.

It's normally just for fun. I a paired with one of my friends here at PC. It also gives you something to write about.

I found it rather amusing to thing of names for the shippings of pairs. Such as Rain Cloud Shipping for me and my pair or Starter Shipping for Twiggy and Kip.

For a second I thought you were one of my pair's alts.
