Pokemon coming to McDonalds outside of Japan.

On Bulbagardenit was announced that Pokemon is coming to McDonalds in North Amrica. The figures are Oshawott,Tepig,Snivy,Zorua,Zoroark,Reshiram, and Zekrom. And each will come with one of twelve cards. So be ready to go get you a happy meal people.

The 100 Mega Shock May 27th, 2011 12:34 PM

aw yeah time to go out in public and order a children's meal to get a Pokémon toy.

rocky505 May 27th, 2011 12:36 PM

I am hoping for an event at McDonalds with this. Best bet is the Scraggy.

Sydian May 27th, 2011 12:44 PM

This has absolutely nothing to do with the games. Moving to Pokemon General. Anyway, no Victini, so I am not interested.

rocky505 May 27th, 2011 12:46 PM

Yes it does it comes with the Trading Card GAMES card's . Yeah no.

Sydian May 27th, 2011 12:54 PM

Um no. Read the rules. This is talking about merchandise and TCG. There's a TCG forum already, but since this comes with the figurine as well, that just throws it in General.

- Since this tends to be confusing, I will shed some light on the subject. PGC deals with in-game specifics that do not branch out across the entire franchise. Pokemon General can include the games, anime, manga, TCG, etc. while PGC just remains within the games themselves.

Examples:

- If you were to post a thread comparing two or more Pokemon, it belongs in Pokemon General.
- If you are comparing/asking opinions that cover more than just the games, it belongs in Pokemon General.
- If you are posting a thread asking about favorite Flying types, legendaries, etc, it belongs in Pokemon General.
- Theories about the Pokemon world that expand beyond the game (anime, manga, the general world, etc.)
- Merchandise (plushies, figures, etc.)

Because this is becoming such a problem, if this happens more than it should with the same person, expect a warning.

I know what I'm doing here. Think before talking back.

rocky505 May 27th, 2011 12:58 PM

I know I just made a minor mistake. I just came in here quickly and didn't notice I went to gaming central. But it's fixed now. I find it odd that there isn't a pikachu figure?

EDIT: NVM there is a pikachu figure.

GFA May 27th, 2011 1:40 PM

I thought you meant a WiFi distribution @ McDonald's (they did it in Japan). That I'd do. This? No.

Red1530 May 27th, 2011 5:12 PM

I work at a McDonalds. This is going to be a fun promotion.

Oryx May 27th, 2011 5:15 PM

I have family who works at McDonald's...you know you don't have to actually buy the meal to get the toy, right? You can ask for the toy for like 1.50 or something. I might ask my family if they can pick me up few, like Tepig and Zekrom.

rocky505 May 27th, 2011 5:53 PM

I'll be trying to get Reshiram,Zekrom Oshawott Tepig and Zoroark. Hopefully they are special edition cards that come with them and not re edited ones like we had a BK last time.

Hooh May 27th, 2011 6:48 PM

Hmm, might go for Snivy, Resh, and Zorark. Awesome figures, too!

Astinus May 27th, 2011 7:19 PM

There's a McDonald's right down the street from where I work. I know what I'm spending part of my gas money on! Especially in trying to get the Oshawott and Pikachu statues.

At least there's no need to buy the food in order to get the toy. That'll save me a few days of nausea.

Zayin May 27th, 2011 8:21 PM

I'll go buy a Happy Meal just to get my Pokemon lol!

o3o May 28th, 2011 6:48 AM

I'm hoping that they'll expand it to areas outside of the US~ It sucks when things like these don't happen in Europe. ;-;

institutions May 28th, 2011 7:07 AM

I don't like Pokemon enough to go through the humiliation of buying a Happy Meal or even just buying the toys separately, so I think i'll pass.

The only way I would buy a Happy Meal is if they came in the red and yellow smiley box like advertised in the commercial, and not boxes with Hot Wheels and Princess' and s*** like that on it.

Is it actually possible to buy the toys only? How much are they? I really don't care if I look funny! xD

A few posts up, Toujours said they're $1.50 each.
That's probably true, because I remember buying just the toys when they had Neopets years ago.

Darthrai May 28th, 2011 10:31 AM

They have small pictures of the Reshiram and Zekrom figures up.
http://www.happymeal.com/en_US/index.html#Toys

They look about as decent as the Jakks toys, so for a mere $1-2 it'll definitely be worth it. Though I was hoping for light-up "overdrive" tails, we have yet to get Resh/Zek toys that use that gimmick... (EDIT: Oops, rocky505 already posted them :S)

The cards are definitely going to be reprints. Since I'm in Quebec, over here we're most likely going to get French cards (out of pure political correctness - most Pokemon cards in Quebec are in English and the franchise in general is more popular in English even among French-speakers, but McDonald's and Wal-Mart over here in particular seem to be fixated on not offending French language purists/separatists), so they won't be much use in my case. Doesn't matter much since they'd be fairly inexpensive to buy as singles, but still annoying. Hopefully that doesn't extend to the toys themselves if they talk, meaning anyone in Quebec who isn't a French-speaking little kid would have to hit eBay to get a Snivy figure that doesn't say "Vipélierre!"

Not like we're getting Inferno Fandango Emboar or anything.

Zayin May 28th, 2011 11:54 AM

Thanks for telling me the price, I hadn't seen it!

I'm from Quebec too, and it would definitely suck if the cards were in French. Nobody gives a crap about these ugly names xD. Oh well, at least it won't be written on the figure itself and that's what I care about mostly.

I'm surprised the French Pokemon names are used in the Quebec-French game (I didn't know, I always buy it in English). The best for the kids would be a French game with English Pokemon names. That's what we were used to in the anime after all!

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ May 28th, 2011 1:30 PM

I think I'll pass. Figurines of the Pokemon themselves have never interested me *is still waiting to see a figurine of Leaf from FR/LG*

TCG has never interested me either, so the extra card really isn't an incentive for me.

But now all of a sudden I have a sudden urge for Mickey D's fries...

AirBourne May 28th, 2011 1:38 PM

Any ideas if this is going to be coming to the UK? Hopefully it will.

Yeah, a WiFi event would be cool, not really sure what they could give us via WiFi though unless it's like a random Shiny Pokemon, that'd be cool :P

That's because they import the games from France, probably so as to not screw up location data and foreign Dex entries; Quebec would probably have their own Pokemon translation with English names if they decided to make French games for Canada before D/P came out. Still, the English games are way more popular (sell faster, and most French-speakers talk about the English games and names on forums rather than the French ones).

And no, I was talking about whether the toys talk (say their names) or not. Just wondering that if we get talking toys, whether they'd be meticulous and distribute France's toys in Quebec ("Vipélierre!" "Gruikui!" "Moustillon!") instead of English Canada/USA's toys ("Snivy!" "Tepig! Oink!" "Oshawott!), even though their names IN ANY LANGUAGE aren't real words and they shouldn't worry about that kind of thing. (Pikachu and Zoroark would stay the same thankfully, and probably Reshiram and Zekrom too since they haven't been revealed as being able to talk yet outside of Japan).

I really doubt they will make sounds since it would cost too much to produce, unless McDonald's has already distributed talking toys in the past, but I don't eat there enough to know.

Red1530 May 28th, 2011 6:39 PM

I do not know what McDonalds is think by having the Pokémon toy being distributed alongside Liv dolls. Last time I checked Pokémon appeals to boys and girls.
