Weavile is amazing if it wasn't for its low defense. I use it and if it's not killed, it kills. XD |
Ahh, Weavile is always a pleasure to use in my opinion! Its extremely high speed and notable attack stats are something to behold, it can be utterly devastating! Unfortunately due to its typing, it doesn't get all that great coverage and it has absolutely terrible defenses, so it really does depend on the circumstance.
|
Yes weavile is pretty much a glass cannon. Either its an OHKO or he gets OHKO'ed. Its a vicious cycle.
|
So, whats our current topic or new topic atm here?
|
New topic
Of all the ice types which one deserves an evolution? |
Quote:
|
I reckon Delibird needs one. While it is a great pokemon his stats leave a lot to be desired and a new evolution could rectify this.
|
For me, I don't think any of them deserves an evolution for now, they seem fine with me. ^^
On the other hand, I feel that Lapras and Cryogonal deserves a pre-evolution if that matters. :3 |
I absolutely think that Lapras needs a pre-evolution or possibly an evolution as well. They're one of the bunch that the people would surely have on their team. :)
|
Quote:
Lapras should have a baby Pokemon as a pre-evolution, something like Riolu and Lucario. Cryogonal should also have a pre-evolved form like maybe a little snowflake Pokemon. That would be cute~ ^^ |
Who knows, they might make one in the future releases. :D

Sneasel? Doesn't it have one though? :O

Omg I'm still alive... let's get to some group activity x3

I reckon an evolution to Weavile would be great. Either pump its speed or defenses up a lot and you have one heck of a Pokemon! I can't even begin to imagine what it'd look like though, even Weavile was a stretch for me o.o Or baby Sneasel could be cute. <3
|
I personally think Weavile doesn't need an evolution as it's powerful enough to fit in a team already, but seeing another one would be definitely awesome. :3
|
i can't believe this club is still alive, after all this time.
thank you, my fellow ICEtype-lovers! <3 NEED EVO? i guess for this topic.. usually i would be all for new (pr)evolutions, but thinking about it now.. i think the one pokémon that needs a prevolution is Cryogonal. Lapras and Delibird are valid candidates due to the fact they have no evolution chain at all, but somehow the only evolution i can imagine for Delibird would turn out like a reddish spiky Empoleon-Santa hybrid. as for Lapras.. i just think that it doesn't necessarily need a prevolution. simply because i think the prevolution for lapras would turn out to be something like the mantine-mantyke relation... so just the same thing, except smaller and cuter.. well.. maybe it should get one after all. I do agree in that Lapras can have a pre-evolution. I would imagine it rather cute. Delibird I would vote on, but hiinotama did make a point there.

i'm.. trying to come up with a good topic.. but it's not going well.
i'll just post this one. XD; SHOULD THERE BE A MALE VERSION OF SMOOCHUM/JYNX? after looking through the list of ICEtype pokémon i thought to myself what a male Jynx would look like. i think it'd be funny. thinking about it some more now, though.. i just realised there's also the psychic type Mr. Mime, and there are in fact female Mr. Mimes to be found. I just thought that was a bit odd.. Is Mr. Mime just kindof Jynx' male counterpart and they forgot to make it all-male or should another male counterpart be created? ... Or maybe you just think the pokémon are fine as is? XD; |
Thanks for the welcome. :)
SHOULD THERE BE A MALE VERSION OF SMOOCHUM/JYNX? I think it would be interesting for the Jynx line to have a male counterpart, but I have no idea what that would look like. XD Back in the day I considered Mr. Mime to be its male counterpart, but then when they came out with genders... eeehhhh... |
I......am.....back!

Should there be a male version of Smoochum/Jynx?
... Gosh no. The sheer thought of that is worrying! Although I always thought this was kind of Mr Mime? Hmm... Even so, I don't think a male Jynx would lend itself well to the game. A manly Pokemon going around kissing things? Might not be well received... xD |
Quote:
i thought Jynx was based on a Dutch traditional character called 'Zwarte Piet' (or 'Black Pete', if you'd translate it literally). they're the helpers of the Dutch equivalent of Santa Claus (Sinterklaas) and well, those are mostly male as well.. XD; and they don't go around kissing things, either... ... but i do think a male pokémon with a black face and huge red lips may be scary. i dunno. when i was younger i didn't like Jynx herself much either. maybe they should make a male smoochum though. i think that could be really cute.. XD; |
Jynx looks like a female Pokemon, and I even think it's a weird looking Pokemon. Having a male Jynx=Creepy

Nonono. Since Jynx is really feminine herself, having a male counterpart seems a little too extreme for my liking. >< |

I think that Game Freak should try to make a counterpart and see if it makes the cut. The way they make Pokemon is have a bunch of employees make sketches and submit them. Then the "judges" pick a few for each type that will be in the game. |

As for the topic: I honestly don't think Nintendo will even consider touching Jynx :/ Too much controversy revolving her and the black stereotype :x And I believe she's based off of something from Norse mythology... close to dutch... but, not quite x3 I'd also prefer that she not be touched. I love Jynx. She's a nice independent fighter who works hard for the money (so you better treat her right ;)). Pokemon don't need male counterparts to make them any more complete. |

New Topic: If you could take any ice pokemon to a Ski Resort, which would you take and why?
I assume we're talking about a standard ski resort here x3 My answer would be Mamoswine. Mamoswine is my second favorite after Swinub and could be useful around a ski resort. Mamoswine can be used for heavy lifting, touring the resort on its four limbs, or searching out hidden hot springs. I also figure that it should still have that ability to discover hidden hot springs an evolved Pokemon :3 It'd also be nice to have him around in-case of any ice-related emergencies like Avalanches. I figure that Earthquake would be very handy in clearing snow. I love helping out people so there's also that. Power is a very nice thing to have :3 If the ski resort were more aquatic in nature, I'd probably pick Lapras for similar reasons. Cute, tough, and reliable for the win <3 |
ARCANA FAMIGLIA IC Thread | OOC Thread[Rated T] Setting You are a member of the Arcana Famiglia, a proud family of gifted individuals, each of whom have made a contract with a certain Arcana card. The Arcana cards are items of huge power which will lend their strength to a human upon forming a contract with them and swearing their loyalty. Each card has different effects, some of which are more powerful than others, and each card presents itself as an Arcana mark tattoo somewhere on the host's body. Arcana cards work using the host's emotions as power, so in order to master the power of an Arcana card, the host must have full control over their emotions or the powers won't work as hoped. Only those proven to have a deep connection to their emotions and the power and dedication to sustain a contract are selected to host an Arcana card and are invited to become part of The Familigia; not all members are related by blood but there is a well established connection between certain bloodlines and their affinity to hosting the Arcana cards so many family members share the same ancestors. Having a contract with an Arcana card also lends the user powers when their emotions are high such as increased strength, vitality, speed, or even in some cases the ability to conjure and control balls of pure energy. Losing control of emotions whilst using Arcana powers can be fatal; therefore only the best are selected to join The Famiglia. There are a grand total of 22 major Arcana cards, all of which are governed and controlled by card #21, The World. The Famiglia, led by their ‘Papa’, uses these powers to help their sunny trading island of Regalo survive any threats that become it and act as the island's government by ruling it in sectors. Set 30 years after the death of Mondo, the family's most beloved Papa to date, the island has become a bustling hub of peace and activity abound with docks and markets as far as the eye can see. Such a busy place obviously attracts a lot of crime but this is easily dealt with by Sword, the family’s defence and policing division, leaving the criminals unlikely to re-offend whilst Sword remain vigilant. Coin, the family’s economic sector, has run the economy well since the retirement of their previous leader Debito and as a result form a staple part of the island's structure whilst working alongside the other sectors of the house to ensure the community thrives. There is a large mansion with impressive steel gates and countless looming statues atop a steep hill in which the Arcana Famiglia resides, overlooking the serene sea-side town below with pale yellow buildings and canvas roofs abound. The city is often full of market stalls and boats coming to the island for trading, providing a warm and friendly atmosphere all year round. Almost every point on the island overlooks the vast blue ocean surrounding them, making it the perfect place for a little R&R. 30 years ago Mondo, the holder of The World card, passed away leaving his title and Arcana contract to Nova, his son-in-law. The holder of The World card is responsible for maintaining the power, contracts and stability of all other Arcana cards and is given the title of 'Papa', making them the head of the family. Cards being left without contracts or cards forming unstable contracts with their holder take more energy from The World to sustain, resulting in the host's life force being drained and leading to a premature death if contracts are not established for the remaining cards. Felicita, Nova’s wife and the ‘Mama’ of the family, has a contract with two cards one of which is The Wheel of Fortune which she regularly uses to ease the burden that Nova carries, but as the life force continues to drain from him time is running out and The World needs a new host. Plot In his early childhood, Nova was abused constantly by his father and his powers were exploited by his family as a chance of getting rich; this became too much for Nova to bear and so his Arcana powers went out of control. His contract at the time was with card #13, Death, giving him the power to put people to sleep instantly, resulting in him cursing both of his parents with a never-ending sleep. After Mondo’s passing and Nova gaining the powers of The World card, he used it to break his contract with Death and in turn broke the curse on his parents; however only his father Moreno awoke from the eternal slumber leaving his mother deceased. This caused Moreno unimaginable suffering knowing what his son had done to him and his wife and thus he swore revenge to show Nova just how it feels to be turned on by your own family. He pretended to be grateful for Nova saving him from the sleep and worked his way into the family to the point where he was able to make a contract with card #15, The Devil, giving him the power to control the emotionally weak to act at his whim. After having received this contract, Moreno disappeared from the family for 2 years with no trace leaving a huge strain on The World and therefore Nova as a conflict arose within the emotion of the Arcana cards. After 2 years had passed Nova became too weak from the strain of The World to continue ruling the family and so passed on his responsibilities to his childhood companion Liberta, the family’s executive head and second in command, whilst he focussed his energies on maintaining the stability of The World. Moreno heard of this news and took it as an opportunity to use the powers that he had been training since obtaining his Arcana contract and so contacted the Famiglia with threats of war. These threats were accepted by the family as they needed The Devil card back in their possession before the strain became too much for Nova to survive with and they assumed that one old man couldn't be any kind of a threat to them. However, when Moreno arrived at the Famiglia’s house, he brought with him an army of warriors prepared to fight on his behalf, resulting in large bloodshed on both sides as the war raged on and powers grew stronger. A man named Luca, the family’s adviser, finally managed to work out where Moreno’s army was coming from as he had made a contract with The Devil, allowing him to control emotionally-weak people as his slaves and thus creating a huge army of those that had not learnt to deal with their emotions. They made for angry and vicious fighters as their rage and sadness was exploited by Moreno but just as all seemed hopeless for the family, Nova concocted a plan to stop the army’s assault. He gathered the family together to find someone worthy of contracting with one of the most powerful Arcana of all; #1 The Magician, and eventually Luca was found to be the suitable host. He then used this power to amplify his previous Arcana, #14 Temperance, and use it to severely cripple Moreno’s powers and therefore release most of his army from his control. A few fighters still remain which Moreno sends in waves to attack the Famiglia, but whilst Luca remains strong the army stays small. Due to the huge strain caused by these events, Nova grows ever weaker and is in desperate need of a new contract to be formed with The World before it becomes too much to handle and he dies. However, such an important and powerful card cannot be given to simply anyone, so it’s now up to you to see who gets the card and the title of ‘Papa’. A tournament called the Arcana Duello has been organised to take place late in the year in which everyone with an Arcana contract will participate to test their powers and see who’s strongest, and the winner will be granted one wish from Nova whilst becoming the new ‘Papa’ of the family. However Luca has been growing tired from the years of suppressing Moreno causing his powers to weaken by the day, so it’s only a matter of time before Moreno will get his chance to strike again. If you could take any ice pokemon to a Ski Resort, which would you take and why?
Froslass! She floats, so she doesn't need to stay on the snow ground like I do. She's light compared to its counterpart Glalie, so if I accidentally bump into her, it wouldn't hurt that much, lol. And yeah, she'd be able to retrieve me from the snow with her ghostly powers. B) |
Time for a new topic in here!
Which Ice type Pokemon would you like to see a baby version of?I'd like to see a baby Sneasel, that would be utterly adorable! I reckon a baby Swinub could be pretty cute too, just because tiny fluffy pigs are by default. x] Ownership has been transferred to Snow Phoenix. Enjoy! |
Which Ice type Pokemon would you like to see a baby version of?
Ooo. I was actually quite satisfied with the pre-forms of our Ice types x3 I actually don't think that Swinub needs a pre-form :O Even though... I'm like the Swinub king xD Swinub is perfectly fine as is :) And it'd be weird having 4th forms all of a sudden x.x If anything... I'd go with Sneasel and Lapras. Sneasel has room for improvement... or rather... to get lower in the hierarchy and have that baby form. Lapras tho would be really amazing with a baby form :O Lapras is big and bulky with no other forms. Plus Lapras already makes a study Pokemon in battle. I could definitely imagine a weaker baby form :O And it'd be adorable <3 BABY NESSY <3 Oh and please treat me well as your new owner x3 I'm a bit busy like... RIGHT NOW... I'll probably work on some kind of revamp during the weekend :) Enjoy the new topic. This one is courtesy of your Mod, but I have a slew to power through myself. |
Which Ice-type Pokémon would you like to see a baby version of?
Lapras. I couldn't fathom the fact that such an enormous creature would emerge from an egg. XD Plus I'm sure it would turn out looking adorable. :3 |

Sheesh :x Only Alex, Hal, and I have posted since the last topic. It's been about two weeks since the last topic and I find that it is reasonable to label those who have not posted since then as "non-active" members. Being labeled as a "non-active" member is NOT bad at all. It's only an incentive to make a post here in the club. As soon as a post is made, you will return to the "active" members list. I am officially setting the minimum activity to be considered "active" to a post every two weeks.
I would also like to start up some sort of activity weekly or monthly. Since I am being enthusiastic, I will TRY weekly. x.x Wish me luck. I have also decided to add a featured Pokemon of the week. Also as incentive to post, members (yes, you can vote if you join after this post or "reactivate") may vote for the featured Pokemon. The voting will end this Wednesday at 9:00 CST. If anyone would like to provide prizes for events or suggest future events, please PM or VM me. Thank you <3 Defend our Ice types :x Update: Halcyon and Grey Cloud have started our Active member list. Congrats! (And of course AlexOzzyCake. Derp.) |
Glad to see this club increasing in activity.
Edit: I definitely nominate Frost Rotom :) http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/b/bd/479R.png It's Rotom in his refridgerator forum and becomes Electric/Ice. |
For the Pokemon of the Week I suggest Sneasel; it's an incredibly diverse and useful Pokemon to use in battle (in its own tier ofc) and it looks amazing; it manages to be both cute and tough at the same time! Now I think this place is in dire need of a new topic. :3
Which Ice type Pokemon has the most interesting typing?Imo it's down to three: Mamoswine, Froslass and Weavile. Abomasnow is worth mentioning too, but his typing is so awful that it's embarrassing. xD I think Ground/Ice is an incredibly useful typing for an offensive Pokemon like Mamoswine, but unfortunately he suffers greatly with tonnes of weaknesses. It's a shame since Mamoswine could be an utterly amazing Pokemon if it didn't die every couple of hits! Ice/Ghost typing from Froslass is also very interesting as it's just two unusual types that you wouldn't expect to see together; they don't really help or hinder each other and it actually makes for quite a boring Pokemon to use considering its only real strategy is to hide in the hail, but its a quirky typing nonetheless. Then finally the Ice/Dark typing brought here by Sneasel/Weavile... That's certainly a useful typing considering the moves it gets from it, but I can't help but think it should've gone to a different Pokemon. The types themselves suit a fast thieving Pokemon design-wise, but battle-wise they're terrible types to go together and they greatly hinder this already fragile Pokemon. Give it to a bulky Pokemon and maybe it'll work out well, but on the weakinglings that currently have it they're a death waiting to happen. Let's just hope Weavile can out-speed a Mach Punch! |
I want to put up my nomination, and I'm going with this frosty treat:
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/d/d4/584Vanilluxe_Dream.png I love Vanilluxe, it's one of my fave Ice-types and I feel sorry for all the hate it gets. Everyone who rants about it says "Nintendo are running out of ideas!". But I love Vanilluxe and it's amazing. That's why I'm nominating this two-headed ice cream. |
I have actually over-extended the poll deadline due to time constraints. The poll is now over.
Since we have three nominations at one vote each, I have decided that these three will be our first three featured Pokemon. Frost Rotoms week will start sometime this coming Sunday. After Rotom will come Sneasel and then Vanilluxe (Btw I personally don't mind Vanilluxe. Vanilluxe just makes things unique). I will also try to come up with an event to go along with our featured Pokemon. Which Ice type Pokemon has the most interesting typing? My answer will be Froslass (Mamoswine is my favorite runner-up). Froslass's type is unique, and only shared by our pseudo-ice type, Frost Rotom. I've never quite been able to call Frost Rotom an "Ice type" so I compromise by calling him a pseudo-ice type (I think it fits). Froslass wins this one in my opinion because it is the only ice type with more resistances and immunities than weaknesses. It's type combination is that valuable. Ice types are notorious for their bad defenses due to typing, but Froslass breaks that trend slightly. Froslass's typing also suits her quite well. She is based off of an actual mythological ghost and her primary strategy is like Alex said, "to hide in the snow." I'm re-adding Hikari10 as an active member. |
Which Ice type Pokemon has the most interesting typing?
It's very unusual to find a Ice/Psychic Pokemon combination, and Jynx and her child form Smoochmus has received this combination of types. http://media.pldh.net/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/238.gifhttp://media.pldh.net/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/124.gif Unfortunately, sometimes 4x weakness to any type is a terrible thing, in this case, we're talking about Fire. Snover and Abomasnow's one of a kind ability of Snow Warning not only make them unique, but their typing Grass/Ice combination make them one of a kind family. http://media.pldh.net/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/459.gifhttp://media.pldh.net/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/460.gif Just like Abomasnow, 4x weakness, to Fighting this time, is definitely a bad thing to have. However, Sneasel/Weavile are great soldiers and can carry out extremely fast speed. Dark/Ice is definitely a unique combination as well http://media.pldh.net/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/215.gifhttp://media.pldh.net/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/461.gif The newly evolution to Snorunt definitely brought new taste to the evolution line of both, Ghost and Ice. http://media.pldh.net/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/478.gif And finally, last but not least, Kyurem. Of course, Kyurem happens to be both types that Dragon is weak too. Dragon/Ice type. This is definitely, in my personal opinion, the most unique typing combination in the Ice Pokemon world. http://media.pldh.net/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/646.gif |

Which Ice type Pokemon has the most interesting typing?
http://sprites.pokecheck.org/i/238.gifhttp://sprites.pokecheck.org/i/124.gif Smoochum & Jynx Ice/Psychic is a very interesting typing, sadly it comes with 6 weaknesses. Despite the cons there, they can be interesting Pokemon to use. http://sprites.pokecheck.org/i/220.gifhttp://sprites.pokecheck.org/i/221.gifhttp://sprites.pokecheck.org/i/473.gif Swinub, Piloswine & Mamoswine Ice/Ground is one cool typing that grants them hail and sandstorm immunity but unfortunately grants a weakness to all Starter types. Even though the Swinub line lack physical Ice moves they can still do good damage with their Ground attacks. http://sprites.pokecheck.org/i/479-frost.gif Rotom (Frost) Now this was a type combo I really wanted to see - Electric/Ice. Even though it only got this typing in the 5th Gen it is still very interesting. If only Black Kyurem had this typing it would have been way awesome but I'm OK with it still being Dragon/Ice. At least this is what makes Frost Rotom unique. http://sprites.pokecheck.org/i/478.gif Froslass I love the neat type combo of Ice/Ghost, makes Froslass special and its a type combo we thought never happened but it became a reality. http://sprites.pokecheck.org/i/459.gifhttp://sprites.pokecheck.org/i/460.gif Snover & Abomasnow Grass/Ice is pretty nice typing but the major cons is the 7 weaknesses that come with it (falls really easily to Fire) but with a unique ability, this is what makes Snover and Abomasnow handy to have on a team based around hail. |

Reason to Join: Ice types are one of the more rare typings, as can be seen by the low amount of Ice type Pokémon, which of course make most of them very unique. Rarely have I ever used any Ice type Pokémon, but I have often had great battles with them, because of the Ice/Water dual typing a lot of them have, which makes me unable to use the usual "KILL IT WITH FIRE!" strategy. This is also the reason why Pryce is my favourite gym leader. Choose 1 Pokemon: Swinub Which Ice type Pokemon has the most interesting typing? A tie between Froslass and Rotom (Frost), I guess. Both of them have pretty unique typings, and both beneficial at that, that gives chances for interesting movepools and strategies. I guess I'd have to go more over to Froslass, due to what interests me about it is the actual typing, where with Rotom (Frost) it's mostly the concept of a Pokémon refrigerator xD |

Chosen Pokémon: Glaceon Current Topic: Which Ice type Pokémon has the most interesting typing? Answer: Probably Froslass with Ghost/Ice pairing. Imagine finding an abandoned structure somewhere in the cold reaches of nowhere... then, all of a sudden, a Ghost Pokémon appears! Would be quite the scare! I would have chosen Froslass as my starter here, had Glaceon not been available. |
Interesting Ice type combo: Snover and Abomasnow win for now. Ice and fire would beat them by a small margin.
@Musketeer: Glaceon is my favorite one, too. What is your reason? Mine is my general love for the eeveelutions in general. I waited since gold and silver for the ice typed one. I was not disappointed. |

So, your partner is well, expected. I know how popular Eeveelutions tend to be. Glaceon's my fave Eeveelution btw. |

I know, the Eeveelutions just tend to be my favorite Pokémon due to their unique attributes compared to other Pokémon. Quote:
Ice is invigorating. I have always wanted to find an actual ice cave, somewhat like the one in HG/SS (Seafoam Islands), adrift on an island. |
@Musketeer: I want a frozen forest in the games. I've always been disappointed by what the developers do to the ice type. Almost like they said "Oops. Forgot ice. Stick them there." I hope that this changes in Black/White 2. Not holding my breath, though.
@Everyone: Do you think that Black/White 2 world map will be frozen (with ice)? Will there be ice types everywhere? |

-Reason to Join- Ice is a very interesting type with quite a bit of variation. -Choose 1 Pokemon- Glaceon Which Ice type Pokémon has the most interesting typing? -Delibird. Ice+Flying seems interesting imo. Do you think that Black/White 2 world map will be frozen (with ice)? Will there be ice types everywhere? -I'm definitely hoping for more Ice Pokemon in various places. The amount of Ice currently in the games is pretty minimal... |
Really sorry guys but this club needs closing due to the owner not having been on in over a month :c But I really like Ice types so someone please remake this club soon! :D Or if anyone's interested in claiming ownership of this club then that's fine too; just send me or Olli97 a PM and we'll transfer it. ^^ But I suggest remaking it instead c:
