What features did you think would be within the games but actually weren't?

BACK TO POKEMON BLACK AND WHITE

Well, like the title says. I thought that Pichu/Pikachu/Raichu/Unown will be at the Unova/Ishuu Dex. What do you think of new features?

LightOfTruth June 21st, 2011 7:44 AM

Why would they be in the Unova dex? Unova is far away from the other regions :)

Palkia June 21st, 2011 7:47 AM

I was surprised with the lack of the Safari Zone. It's pretty much a staple of the series.

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ June 22nd, 2011 5:57 AM

No rematch feature for gym leaders.
No Vs. Seeker
No Safari Zone was a pleasant surprise for me.
No poketch/Pokegear style utility device. Instead we get a device that's really only useful at anime/gaming cons.

PlatinumDude June 22nd, 2011 9:15 AM

I thought the Vs. Seeker, evolved forms of old Pokemon and gym rematches would be in B/W, but they didn't happen.

~*!*~Tatsujin Gosuto~*!*~ June 22nd, 2011 12:11 PM

Pretty much what as mentioned above, i thought that there will be a Safari Zone and a VS Seeker. I was hoping to see more Rotation and triple battles in Pokemon Black and White

I definitely expected to see the Pokemon following you around. It was in HeartGold and SoulSilver, so why not put it in Black/White? It's not like the fans would have disliked it, I'm pretty sure everyone loved that feature.

Pokemon following you around is a selling point of Heart Gold / Soul Silver. Since those two games are still in production, it makes more sense to exclude it from Black / White to maintain Heart Gold / Soul Silver sales.

Based on all the screenshots, I expected them to break away from the tile-by-tile movement. Is a shame they've stuck to it.

It could also be a selling point for Black/White. I feel like people are gonna buy Heart Gold and Soul Silver anyway because they're remakes of an old favorite. Besides, it came out a year before Black/White so it sold a lot already. HG/SS sales still would have maintained sales due to the fact that it's a remake of Johto, which is most people's favorite region.

I also thought that the movement would be different as well. The videos and screenshots released before the game makes it look a lot different, especially the shots of Castelia City.

The lack of large department store at the fourth or third city to have all the tms you need.
Really wasn't a fan of having them all spread out like that.

But it was by Opelucid City.

I GOT WHAT I WANTED!

With every generation of Pokemon, many fans that want to play the game make a Wish list of ho they want the next Generation of Pokemon to be like. Sometimes these wishes are realistic while others aren't; but e still make these wishes regardless. This thread isn't about "What you wish for the 5th generation" because the 5th generation is here already. This thread is also not a "What you wish for the 6th generation" because that is not this either. The questions are:

What did you wish for the 5th Generation of Pokemon Black and White to have or be like?

If you wished for 5th Generation stuff, Did it come True?

As for me, I wished for 3D Pokemon Battles and for the towns, Routes, Cities to have more of a 3D look and I got that wish. I also wished for a Battle Frontier that had 7 facilities in it (like it did in Pokemon Emerald)

Seeing as your topic and this thread have very similar discussion going on, I've merged the two! ;)

To be on topic, I don't remember quite what I wished for besides the obvious, improved features (like the battling system), and many of those came true. During the early beginning I expected the following feature to be included again, but that never happened unfortunately. u_u;

Lake of Retro July 3rd, 2011 3:04 AM

I thought the running button from HG/SS would have been implemented, but it hasn't. :( Or maybe I just haven't found it yet.

Lord Varion July 3rd, 2011 11:09 AM

No Vs Seeker
No Pokéutility
No Safari Zone
No Rematching system.

no Follow me :'( I thought and wanted it to be in. fml. -.-

dante1w July 3rd, 2011 11:19 AM

i think the best feature of BW/gen V was the 3D renderring engine, although it could've been improved a bit.

DowntownDumpling July 19th, 2011 10:28 AM

No Game Corner, Battle Frontier (well, there's the Battle Subway, but I don't feel any sense of accomplishment just by being there since you can go there fairly early into the game), Safari Zone, or actual Contests. Also, your Pokemon can no longer obtain Ribbons.

Zelda July 19th, 2011 11:10 AM

^ I kind of liked collecting ribbons for my Pokémon, it gave challenges a little extra prize. Sad to see them continue no longer.

Contests were another thing I was hoping for as well (and maybe to have the style made a bit like the anime had it). Instead they brought in Pokémon Musicals. n_n;

Azure Wish July 19th, 2011 1:59 PM

The only things that really surprised me were no Safari Zone, no VS Seeker, and no Pokemon walking behind you. I would say the Game Corner too, but that was because of the "gambling" aspect of it.

The Nightmare July 22nd, 2011 1:33 AM

Well it does kinda suck that you can't do some stuff but it's still good even though it doesn't have vs seeker and all that.

Kevin July 22nd, 2011 6:37 AM

I thought they would be a Battle Tower at least (like in D/P) but instead a Subway (I'd prefer a Tower in Nimbasa).

And the Vs. Seeker and Safari Zone. Why no Safari Zone? There was also no Gym Leader rematches (hopefully in Gray there will be).

LaureTheLoner July 22nd, 2011 7:14 AM

I haven't gotten far in HG/SS yet so I didn't know about the features I could compare Gen V with, but that's okay that they weren't similar. The remakes are suppose to be just a gen 4 version of a GBC game while gen 5 is suppose to be its own thing.

Kinda sucks though that there wasn't a vs. seeker so you could continue to raise Pokemon and keep the game going.

Anyway what I expected from the next gen of Pokemon:

1. a way to drop and drag trade multiple Pokemon at a time rather than still select one at a time and watch the trading animation, though it's a huge time saver you can pick out of the box

2. more baby Pokemon, because I like em

3. a rival I could name, because I miss the days

4. Dewgong could evolve, because I have dreams

5. More realistically, if you could use the C-gear to trade on wifi from anywhere, when I first got it that's what I thought I could do with it, but the truth is I don't know what I'm suppose to do with it.

6. You know how Pokemon stadium had rental Pokemon, or automatically filtered all the Pokemon in your box to show what qualified for the battle ahead. Since the DS has N64 like abilities something like that would have been cool for random match up battles on wifi like if you wanted to do Little Cup or something

7. Teleport System- a lot of Gen V doesn't rely heavily on TM's and that's why I love it. Fly is easy when your stuck somewhere in a pinch, but what if each Pokemon center had like a little teleport option and you could go to a different town without going to the PC, depositing a Pokemon, going to the town, getting your party member back out, bleh. Flora Sky Version had something like this to get to certain islands that weren't on the map and I thought wouldn't it be awesome for everywhere.

Blue Nocturne July 22nd, 2011 7:20 AM

No VS Seeker, No Safari Zone... etc. etc.

I was very surprised that more wasn't done with the seasons feature. The only significant change that came with the seasons was around the Icirrus City area, and even then it was only in winter. The most glaring example, of this to me was in Pinwheel Forest in the Autumn... no fallen leaves? No golden trees? A disappointment on all but one front really.

Genesect July 22nd, 2011 7:35 AM

No Safari Zone..
No Gym Rematches..
No Rematches..
And especially, no new evolution from previous Generations.. (or I haven't found any)

I kinda hoped for new evolution in Gen V, and finding out there's none but only full of new high-end modern-looking Pokemon. No wonder why Trip called Ash someone from the booners in the anime..

I didn't really care about there not being a Safari Zone because bleh

but I was thinking wouldn't it have been awesome if like there was a Safari Zone unlocked post game that had a few gen 1 - 4 pokes in it since the national dex is unlocked, and depending on the season the Pokemon were different. Like winter you have ice types, summer some water and fire, spring grass etc.

Hopefully the seasons will be improved upon for future games cause it was cool but like you said there wasn't anything amazing graphic wise and there is only a handful of Pokemon that are season exclusive that I could easily get in GTS

When I played Black Version for the first time and seen the season I was

"OMG POKEMON HARVEST MOON? I'M IN!"
