Since every rock type move is Physical, this is our new topic. If you could make a Physical Rock type move, which one would it be? It has to have 100% accuracy and up to 90% power. Also, explain how the move would look like.
Credit to Spinosaurus for this idea

Pokemon of the month:
At the last week of each month, all members vote for a rock type they think should be given this prize. The first five Pokemon that are nominated by the members are those that can be voted for. It can be a Pure, Primary or a Secondary Rock type. The champion from last month gains automatic entry, so there would be six Pokemon out of all.

I'll join! I'll pick Aerodactyl as a partner if you don't mind, as it is my favorite Pokemon. Rock type is one of my favorites, along with Steel and Ground haha.
Which rock type Pokemon do you think the mascot of this fanclub should be?
This is hard. I'd like Terrakion or Regirock to be mascots since both are legendary. OR, the Geodude family, since they are rocks. :V

archeops14 July 3rd, 2011 12:14 AM

Okay, thanks for joining.

I think it would be better if the mascot was a pure rock type, so that counts Terrakion out. I think Geodude can be considered, since it is a rock. But these are only my opinion.

Ps, All other users that want to join please use the form, I forgot to post in when Spinosaurus joined.

PokemasterX July 3rd, 2011 8:00 PM

Name: PokeMasterX
Chosen partner: Tyranitar
Reason for joining: rock types are awesome for their "tank"-like body and also are likewise very strong=i like very strong defencive rock pokemon that are also offensive which most are.

archeops14 July 4th, 2011 8:37 AM

Thank you for joining, PokemasterX. Do you have any answers to the topic?

Lostworld July 5th, 2011 1:33 PM

Name: Breezy.
Chosen partner: Golem
Reason for joining: I've always loved rock types. Golem was one of the first Pokemon I encountered when I first got into Pokemon all those years ago. I still haven't used one in the games but I will get around to it eventually. So yes, rock types = awesomeness.

Topic Question: For the mascot... I agree, it should be a pure rock type. I think it should be Sudowoodo. It sticks out in my memory because of it's appearance in the anime, when it was always afraid of water hahaa. Maybe that's not a good reason but meh. :D Also, maybe Onix. It's always pretty awesome in battle and one of the original 151. I don't believe any of the new B/W Pokemon should be given this title.

archeops14 July 6th, 2011 10:40 AM

Welcome Breezy.

I do agree with you about Sudowoodo and Onix. Perhaps being first generation Pokemon is more important than being a pure rock type. So I think the Pokemon has to at least be a primary rock type. Of course Sudowoodo has more chance because he fits into both those categories. I would also take Tyranitar into consideration because he is the only rock type pseudo-legendary.

Spinosaurus July 23rd, 2011 11:01 AM

Let's not let this die!

I fail to see how being first gen is highly important. To me, that's dumb, unless you're into nostalgia way too much. What's wrong with other Rock types? "They look dumb" isn't a valid argument because it's only a simple opinion and I'm sure a lot disagree. Nostalgia is dumb and should be out of the question. I fail to see what is wrong with Gigalith, Nosepass, Rampardos and all other Rock types. Speaking of Gigalith, I think it would be a perfect mascot. Not only does it have the stats of a real rock type (HUGE Defense and Attack but a very poor Sp.Atk and Speed), but it's the only pure Rock type third stage Pokemon.

I stick with my choice of Regirock, but I'm also gonna nominate Gigalith now that I mentioned it.

oooh Rock Type Club!

Name: zappyspiker
Chosen partner: Larvitar (His name is Larvi <3)
Reason for joining: Apart from being in a previous Rock Type Club some of my favorite pokemon are part Rock

Which rock type Pokemon do you think the mascot of this fanclub should be?
larvitar because he's plain awesome
Well I'd say Aerodactyl or one of the Geodude Family. When I think of rock types they're the first ones that come to my head. Also I agree with Spiny. Just because 1st gen was the original doesn't give it an upper hand for being picked as mascot

Yay, bump! I do like the idea of Gigalith as a mascot too. At first I thought it was going to be another one of those Rock and Ground types. It kinda grows on you.

To me, being first gen is important because the Pokemon has been along more than any of the others. Seriously, to me that's like nominating a new member as an Administrator. But Gigalith probably would be the way to go.

Thanks for joining. Aerodactyl would be alright, but in my opinion Geodude/ evos or Gigalith would be the way to go.

I'm promoting Spinosaurus to Active member because he revived this thread. Congratulations!

This is a Rock type club, so I honestly thing that any of the pure-rock type Pokemon would be a good choice for a mascot. With that said, Gigalith looks like a good idea. I honestly don't think 'generations' should have anything to do with this at all. Gigalith may be in the newest generation, but that shouldn't mean anything at all. Personally, I think out of the pure-rock types it's the best choice, unless we want to choose Regirock because it's a Legendary. Old doesn't necessarily mean better (and I don't see how forum ranks come into play at all).

Okay, one more vote for Gigalith and he gets the honour of being our mascot!

Lostworld July 27th, 2011 3:31 PM

My choice to promote earlier generation Pokemon for the mascot was primarily because they 'stick out' for me when I think of rock types. Only slightly related to the nostalgia factor... :D I love Cranidos, Nosepass and other recently introduced rock types though.

However, I disagree with Gigalith being the mascot and still go with Sudowoodo :D Or even Regirock now that it's been mentioned. But that's primarily because I still can't get my head around the new Pokemon.

I don't believe that a Pokemon being part of the first or second generations means that they are better or more original and more deserving of the mascot title but they are what sparked off my love of this type (thanks to Golem), which is why I promote them. Gigalith's design is however pretty wicked.

Thank you, you put my reasons in better words. Gigalith is a very popular choice if you had to pick a rock type Pokemon, but not many know about it because past Pokemon players wouldn't know about it. However many new players of Pokemon usually know about them because they encountered some of them in the new games.

Regirock is also a very good choice. Primarily because it's a pure legendary, but also because it has rock in it's name :D. Sudowoodo is so-so, but I don't think it would be that popular (sorry Breezy. :) )

Anyway, as I said, Gigalith needs one more vote to be the mascot, and we will move on to a new topic.

I don't really mind who gets to be the mascot but Spiny does have a point about the main characteristics of Rock type pokemon

Although looks ain't the best or the cutest for Rock type Pokemon, they should never be easily because of their threatening Defense and Attack Stats.
Also if I'm right Gigalith has a slightly higher base stat compared to Golem and they are quite similar and stats although Regirock has an extremely high Defense stat far greater than both of them. And I think that the defense is quite an important characteristic of rock Pokemon

alisaie August 4th, 2011 7:32 AM

Pure Rock Pokemon that is. There are some dual-rock Pokemon that have higher Speed than others cough Aerodactyl. I don't have stats at the back of my head, but the pure rock types all fit that characteristic, and plenty of the Rock/Ground ones as well.

^Exactly why I like Aerodctyl because it has a higher speed compared to other rock types

alisaie August 5th, 2011 7:39 PM

It's part of the reason why I also like Aerodactyl. xD; And Red has one, but that's besides the point.

Spinosaurus August 5th, 2011 8:18 PM

Aerodactyl is my favorite Pokemon because of so many reasons, and being fast is one of them. It supports other Pokemon with Stealth Rock and it can deal lots of damage. STAB Stone Edge is sooo good despite how bad Stone Edge is.

Speaking of Stealth Rock and Stone Edge...TOPIC IDEA! I'mma wait till we get a mascot though.

Skip Class August 5th, 2011 8:30 PM

Heh Stealth Rock and stone edge. Back when I used to battle with my cousin she used to overuse those two moves :/

alisaie August 6th, 2011 1:24 AM

Red's Aero be pimpin' yo! I'm in a weird mood

Anyways, Stone Edge and Stealth Rock are both really great both on Aero, which is probably part of the reason why I grew to love him so much after using him on Soul Silver. To be quite honest, I think he might have been the first Rock Pokemon that I used on a team, as while I've liked Rock Pokemon, they never managed a spot beforehand. Corsola, while I love it so much, was one of those that I never managed. :( I should try to get Corsola on a team sometime.

Skip Class August 6th, 2011 7:54 PM

I remember when I was younger and playing crystal, the first time I had ever reached the Elite Four. Aerodactyl was the first one on Lance's team and I remember having difficulty beating it. Seeing as I was careless as a 7 year old and only trained my typhlosion and no other pokemon... well rock and fire didn't really work out in my side xD The number of times I had to turn off my game and turn it back on because of Aerodactyl's Rock Slide.

Though I was pretty sad that Aero wasn't in Red's team when I played Crystal, seeing as I had read quite far in the Yellow Arc and I was kinda expecting him with red
