Unlike traditional challenges you have to use time wisely to survive.

How the Game is played:

Time Allotment: Unlike other challenges there is a time limit to this game, you may only play your game for no more than 30 minutes a day, no speed button.

Points: This whole challenge revolves around points and it's not quite hard to obtain them, if you use your 30 minutes wisely of course. Located in this thread is a points table, when you collect Pokemon, Track down TM's, and clear areas of their trainers you'll receive points and be able to use them in the Store.

Items and Beating the Game The winner of the game is the one who can manage to capture Rayquaza as well as Latias and Latios, so I know what you're thinking. I'm not one of those project alpha competitors how can I keep up and beat the others with only 30 minutes a day? Items is how, using those points you been collecting the store offers a wide variety of items which can be used to box your opponent's party members, slow their time down, or even force them to start a brand new game. Don't worry they plan on doing the same to you so stock up on protection charms.

Events It's not just opponents against you, the game itself will try and slow you down, but sometimes it can help as well. At the start of every tournament day using RNG random events can occur that can effect individuals, the store, or the group as a whole. It's not all bad though for there is also a lottery every day where one lucky person receives points or even exclusive items. Another game changing event is several different bombs that will be handed out, if you have the bomb, once you finished your task for the day hand it to someone else. Eventually it will explode (just like playing hot potato) and the one holding it at the time of explosion will either be very lucky or very unfortunate.

Quests and Alchemy There are going to be some items you cannot receive through even the lottery, so there is 2 ways to get them. Following an alchemy recipe you mix 3 different items to create what you need, or check the quest section. I'll be posting certain things, that when done, will get you a treasure chest with points and exclusive items, but make sure to work on the quest quickly, once someone beats it the quest will disappear.

RULES
In Game: Follow all Season specific rules to your game that the Seasons Challenge forum. Additional Rules as follows: must have 4 Pokemon in your party by the 4th gym, 6 pokemon in your party by the 7th. If one of your Pokemon get boxed, you cannot continue with your journey any further til you have the right amount of party members. In the beginning of the game if there is no required Pokemon before the first gym feel free to hack 1 in.

Keep Your Team Leveled: This isn't a solo challenge, all party members CANNOT be less than 5 levels lower than your highest leveled Pokemon.

BE ACTIVE I cannot stress this enough for this challenge, subscribe to the forum so when you know there is a reply (it could be me starting a tournament day or someone using an item against you) after every time you play you must update with your points, if you report your points on another day you don't get them. If I don't hear from you within 3 days you are out of the game. (Unless you have vacation or will be away from the computer contact me and we'll work something out.

Tournament Days You may not use your 30 minutes until I declare it a tournament day, due to time zone differences and such it's just easier to start when I say start, that and I need to decide the daily events and lottery.

You only get 30 minutes I won't squabble over 1 or 2 minutes off of your in game time, because I know you want to finish the battle your stuck in and probably take notes during your journey so you can accurately add up your points. However, only do this in one sitting, no playing for 10 minutes in the morning than another 20 later. Once you shut your game off you're done. Once again, remember, no speed button allowed in this challenge.

Rules on Items You cannot use an item the same day you acquired it, unless, it is a lottery gift. You may also trade items, you cannot just give them away though (like in a Pokemon game) there must be an exchange of goods. However, if you get bored you should make a Will & Testament in case you /rage quit or disappear for 3 days your items won't go to waste and will go to someone. In this thread is a nice alchemy shop to combine your lesser items into greater items, sadly, you may only use alchemy once a day.

Misc: If Sudden Change is cast on you, you may pick whatever season you'd like to switch to, but you may never repeat seasons until you've run through them all.

Here is the status of your opponents make sure to check here often.

Dice of Fate
Step up step up and take a fun little gamble. When you use this item pick heads or tails, and the DM will flip the coin. If it's in your favor, it will be a happy day. All your points will double, know those items you have? The Dice's power will upgrade them into much more powerful items. Now what if the odds aren't in your favor? The house always wins. Say good-bye half of your points, your items will be downgraded, and in most cases taken away. It's a complete gamble, but it's 50/50 odds.

Creature of Darkness...
Some of the most powerful items in the game put together will earn you the right summon this cruel creature. Using its power you may wreck havoc on the whole field. Using its powerful attack all protection charms on the field will shatter and all opponents will be forced to start a new game. Once cast the creature will disappear, taking all your items and points as tribute, and leave you the last one alive.

http://www.scattercrystals.co.uk/ekmps/shops/scattercrystals/images/factory-pack-rhinestones-ss5-non-hotfix-light-sapphire-58-p.jpg + http://www.scattercrystals.co.uk/ekmps/shops/scattercrystals/images/factory-pack-rhinestones-ss5-non-hotfix-light-sapphire-58-p.jpg + http://simson.dyn.pl/item_images/204.gif + http://www.serebii.net/itemdex/sprites/antidote.png + http://www.woodus.com/den/gallery/graphics/slimedq2/item/metal_king_sword.png = http://media.strategywiki.org/images/f/f2/FF_Fables_CT_chocobo_sprite_2.png
Protection of the Choboco
Can't have an RPG without a Choboco. As you see this recipe also needs very rare items, one of which being the Absolution Blade, which you could use to summon the Creature of Darkness. That would be very cruel of you though? Being the gentle soul that you are, use these items for good and not evil, not to mention this spell will help you win the game. The Choboco will act as your personal protector. It isn't fast enough to stop Dark Pokeballs, switch items, or a toxic orb, but Sudden Change, Black Out, and Absolution Blade have no effect on it. If someone else summons the Creature of Darkness the monster won't find you, (but it will find your wallet and all your points will be taken away). Your Choboco, unlike the protection charm, will never fade and remain by your side for the rest of the game. No longer having to worry about the pesky new games you can continue your journey without fear.

BOMBS
List of the effects bombs can have on you, if they happen to explode on you. Protection Charms can't save you from bombs. Remember if you have one on you when you enter in your points and activities for the day you have to name someone you want to pass it to. If holder of bomb wasn't active that day bomb will be randomly handed to someone else.

Big Bomb- When explodes cost the user 50 points
Perfect Bomb- All Points and Items are taken away
Confetti Bomb- User gets 50 points
Grand Bomb- User gets 100 points
Smoke Bomb- Starting the next tournament day the user is prohibited from playing for 2 days
Clockwork Bomb- Starting the next tournament day the user gets an additional hour added to their additional time
Killer Bomb- Boxes 2 random Pokemon on user's team
Doom Bomb- Same effect as Blackout, user must restart game
Prize Bomb- User gets 3 random items
Bargain Bomb- User gets 50% off all items in the store for 3 days
Inflation Bomb- Store is 50% more expensive for user for 3 days
Toxic Bomb- Toxic Orb is forced on user
Enchanted Bomb- User is given a protection charm that last for 5 days, if user already has protection charm it is recharged
Peace Bomb- in your game for 2 days you may not battle any trainers of any kind, even if it means you can't advance your journey
Lololololololol Bomb- Forces you to nickname all your pokemon "Lol", "Lolololol", "Epic Lol" or LLLOOOLLL! for the rest of the challenge

QUESTS
Here is a list of in game tasks that if you fulfill you receive a treasure chest with exclusive items and points. Remember, once someone unlocks the treasure chest it is gone, so think wisely on if you wish to complete one. Quests are in order of difficulty and the harder the quest the better the prize.

http://media.strategywiki.org/images/5/58/SD3_Treasure_Chest_Big.png
1st Route Grind
Even though you may only use season Pokemon to battle trainers and gym leaders to advance the plot, it wouldn't hurt to level up your boxed Pokemon in case you need them later. Poocheyna, Wurmple, and Zigzagzoon are your options for this quest. Once you evolve the 3 of them to their final the treasure chest is yours. Of course, if they don't apply to your team they may not be in your party when you fight trainers or be on any route that could advance your game.

Have fun with this mission, because Surskit has a 1% encounter rate on route 102. If you can manage to catch 6 of them, the treasure chest is yours.

Anti- Gym Nuzelocke Challenge (No Saving allowed for area unless time runs out)
With only a limited amount of team members I'm sure you'll come across a gym in the game where your Pokemon are at high risk. In this challenge have a team of only Pokemon that are weak to the corresponding gym (If this were R/B/Y I'd go to Misty's Gym with only fire types) and treat it as a Nuzelocke challenge. Once your Pokemon faints you can no longer use it on this task. Get the badge and you win the challenge.

You're doing winter congrats, better get yourself a Ralts :D I didn't win last challenge or anything. but also no one used any harmful items against me

King! August 7th, 2011 7:14 PM

Oh, great. I missed that we didn't get to choose the challenge. Now I feel stupid. Expecially since I got my least favorite. Dx Well....this should be good...

Lol go make some enemies and maybe someone will buy a sudden change just for you :D

xanthos August 7th, 2011 7:33 PM

I'll go for it on sapphire

jdthebud August 7th, 2011 7:34 PM

Okay, my turn to sign up as the reigning champion :D

I'll be playing on Ruby.

By the way, Laure, you should probably say that Pickup items don't count towards "finding" them (Rare Candies/Nuggets).

Ans wy are the Protection Charm and Free Frame sprites the same? Protection Charm...Damp Rock?
http://upnetwork.net/fb/sprites/items/damprock.gif
also, there's an atual Dark Ball sprite! although the one you have is fine.
http://upnetwork.net/fb/sprites/items/darkball.gif

King! August 7th, 2011 7:42 PM

So we can't use items on ourselves? :D

Also, the only ice type I can use is now Glalie, since Walrein is also water type and Regice is a lengendary. Dx This should be fun...

I had another question but I forgot...oh well.

I was copying and pasting icons and forgot to replace that it was suppose to be an actual charm looking thing instead of another ice rock. Do you mean someone could confuse "finding" for hidden items? I guess I'll change it. Also JD you seem more familiar with 3rd gen I've literally only beat it once, maybe another time a long time ago, any quests ideas?

Oh and your season will be Summer

D: you can have a red and green poke

A question I need to ask myself if I were you is what about expert modes?

:x good thing I have a week to fix up this forum, I need to make an expert mode for fall and winter, and there will be an exclusive item that forces your opponent to switch to expert mode

MythologicalHAX August 7th, 2011 8:06 PM

I just missed the last one so sign me up for Ruby!

CarefulWetPaint August 7th, 2011 8:16 PM

Im in, On Ruby, (Obviously ruby is much better then sapphire)

And Erggh you locked the old thread before i had chances for the rest of my ideas!

So Anyway.
There should be a leader board/ranking table. To get on it you must come first second or third .. possibly fourth? in a challenge, Gain 150,100,50,25 points respectively. Then itd be a way to see whose going better? Understand what im trying to say Laure?

You're signed up for fall

Feel free to share your ideas, I reserve the right to change anything before it starts

How about whoever I think is in first place by placement in their game or points like I highlight their profile in a different color or something?

Snow Phoenix August 7th, 2011 8:29 PM

Ooo. Sounds interesting :3 I'll join. Sapphire for me.

CarefulWetPaint August 7th, 2011 8:36 PM

Laure, I meant like for at the end of each challenge. As such JD would be number one on the leader board with 150 points?

Like

Player ---------- Challenges Completed & Placing ------- Rank -------- Total Points

JDtheBud ---------------- R/B/Y Dual mono ----------------1st --------------150

Like that ^^

Oh I see maybe next time
seeing as how that first time was beta mode
even though JD was terribly lucky and if just one person
just one
had beat him to updating
he woulda been toast

Snow Phoenix August 7th, 2011 9:25 PM

I have two questions. I'm not sure if they are/were addressed.

1. Are we allowed to capture Pokemon that are prevented from usage by our challenge as long as we don't use them in our team? The "not allowed to use water types" in the winter challenge kind of sucks if you can't at least catch them for points.

2. Do Pokemon that fill more than one spot in our challenge count as all of the applicable spots or just one designated spot of our chosing?

LaureTheLoner August 7th, 2011 9:29 PM

You may catch any Pokemon doesn't matter if banned or not they just can't be used in battle

I don't understand the second question

It counts as all applicable, but keep in mind you still must have a party of 6 for this tournament (I know in the seasons thread it says 4 but we are hard core)

because of this people who are doing winter you may have two greens and two red pokes on your team

or two faeries w/e you need

Also there is no species clause for this tournament you can have duplicates

Snow Phoenix August 7th, 2011 9:33 PM

Sorry. It's late at night... and I'm so eager that I'm already starting to plot this thing out. ^.^

As far as I'm concerned... both my questions were addressed. I no longer have to worry about the limit of 1 thing :D

I have another question. I'm pretty sure I know how this is going to be awnsered, but... are items that effect time only effective one tournament day or are permanent unless reversed? Seems obvious how it should be, but I just want to make sure.

Fffffff I hate 3rd gen
I really do
I mean I guess 4th is worse but I let the people from their beta have their way
though I find it odd that I saw there was a Team Alpha Hoenn Project Thread as well, and I think that's why JD suggested it they all probably practiced moving through the game fast
but this will make it more fun

anyway

your season is also Winter

myrrhman August 7th, 2011 10:20 PM

Oh and your season will be Summer

I was referring to Zigzagoon's Pickup ability, which can give you Rare Candies and Nuggets, and that those wouldn't give you points.

Actually, maybe make a clause that you can only have 1 in your party (unless you're using it to battle, then you can have an extra one as a slave), since it's so good in R/S.

Thanks for Summer! although that means I'll have to switch to a less awesome one if I get Sudden Changed, grr.

And here's a cool icon for the Protection Charm if you like.

Can we use more than one Clock at a time if we have more than one?

And since getting clocks is harder now, sure
there is a target on your back though sir I'll see to it be lucky if you get one

You can only use what is said, the banned types is just to make it more limited, say you are allowed purple pokemon, if thunder is banned, you can't use that purple pokemon despite its color. That is all.

You gonna change the Protection Charm image...?

Oh right you wanted me to suggest some quests.

Getting the Scanner could be viable, although you need the Dive HM, which is a late one.

Catching Feebas? lot of luck/time involved there.

Catching Surskit/Wailord in the wild are also luck based events (1% encounter rate). Surskit can be found right away, so that could be pretty viable, and Wailord is a late one.

Can't think of anything else at the moment. Maybe the first to find a rare item in a day? i dunno...I needs to sleep noaw. :knockedou

is this the kind of stuff you're think of trying?

monkeybard August 8th, 2011 1:38 AM

I guess I'll give this a go on Ruby. Seems fun enough.

CarefulWetPaint August 8th, 2011 2:01 AM

Quest: Save New Mauville? Must go and fix the new Mauville generator?

Quest: Beat all trick masters trick rooms.

Quest: Unlock the regi's caves.

Quest: Beat the Winstins without losing a pokemon before obtaining 4 badges. (Dont even know if thats their name cant remember but theres four you gotta battle straight)

hows that?

monkeybard August 8th, 2011 2:56 AM

I like the Regi suggestion. If you make it so you have to visit each of them (not necessarily catch) then it would be time consuming and worth lots of points if you can get it all in one session. And I think the family's the Winstrates.

CarefulWetPaint August 8th, 2011 3:13 AM

Quest: Get contest ribbons..? like 2 points for normal 4 points for hard 6 points for harder and 8 points for hardest? Must have picture of pokemon with ribbon on it as proof?

Should have it as a requirement to have picture proofs of each quest you complete as well as your save time and team :)

Hacki101 August 8th, 2011 3:37 AM

Wow this is really popular already! So much for second post though :/

Sign me up for Ruby hard copy. The Regis really should be a quest, and I think we should get our own ideas thread!

jespoke August 8th, 2011 4:01 AM

Wow, the Americans have gone into action while the Europeans (Me and Hacki) where sleeping!

Ill sign up on my Ruby rom

I like how the Black Out is the dark star, who i beat 2 days ago :D

Also Laure, just copy-paste the complete bomb list below, I rewrote some parts to make it easier to understand. How long is the max bomb time BTW?
Spoiler:
Party Bomb List:

Plain Bomb: -30 points
Big Bomb: -50 points
Perfect Bomb: All points are taken away
Confetti Bomb: +50 points
Grand Bomb: +100 points
Smoke Bomb: Cant play that day
Clockwork Bomb: Can play an 30 minutes extra for 3 days
Killer Bomb: Boxes a random pokemon
Doom Bomb: Restart game
Prize Bomb: Get an random item
Crush Bomb: A random item is taken away
Badge Bomb: -10 points pr. badge
Bargain Bomb: Halves prices in the item shop for you for 3 days
Inflation Bomb: Price +50% to everything in the item shop (Permanent, all players)
Bad Day Bomb: Halves point gain to all players for 1 day
Wide Bomb: -30 points to all players
Enchanted Bomb: Gives you a Protection charm.
Unprotected Focus Bomb!: Removes all limited time effects from play
Chess Championship Bomb: You cant battle any kind if trainer for 1 day
Lololololol Bomb: Forces you to nickname all your pokemon "Lol", "Lolololol", "Epic Lol" or LLLOOOLLL! for the rest of the challenge

I struggled with thinking up the Chess one to make the number of bombs a round 20 :) Oh, I cant wait to see the Lololololol Bomb in action :P

The regi quest should just be opening their doors, as catching the gives 50 POINTS EACH!

TheBowsinator August 8th, 2011 4:38 AM

Questions for Laure:

- How many lottery things are there going to be, and how often?
- What is the basic idea of alchemy? Could we add some specific Alchemy-only items to make the recipes more original? (Trying to start a discussion)

Itstoppedatumbreon August 8th, 2011 9:55 AM

I have a question - in summer, can you use a red dark type or a red ice type. you know, cos those types are banned, but all red pokemon are allowed

Well generic I was going to probably go to gamefaqs and copy and paste side quests as well as the things you guys are suggesting, but I thought it would be fun to come up with something custom as well like catch Pokemon that all look like this in the game or something, so people can be pained by a few rare pokes idk

The problem is like you said all these quests are for later in the game need something interesting that can go in the beginning

and I asked Syd before I made such a thing, because really there is no forum on here I could see that thread going into and he said it's best we just leave it in here, besides the constant ideas will keep the thread bumbed so we won't be at the bottom when tournament time comes

D:< thought you had bomb pictures for me Jes D: jk I might make a few edits to the bombs because like I told you earlier the bombs are more about effecting individuals rather than the group, because their purpose is strategy on who you pass them to and taking a chance on them

However I don't see why they can't become alchemy items

and you get: Winter

Ofc im signing up!

Game: Ruby

[email protected]? lolololol Bomb? ~LOL~

One more thing, unlike Last round, cant we continue after the 1st place person captures [email protected] / Rayquaza? Make it a 1st, 2nd, 3rd person thing and give em banners respectively :3

Find me someone who can make banners and I'll consider it, because I'm going to go with the leader board idea that Wet Paint suggested and this way you can get on it, but everyone needs to get their games wrapped up by the time that the next round would start

You get Spring

- What is the basic idea of alchemy? Could we add some specific Alchemy-only items to make the recipes more original? (Trying to start a discussion)

There will be an exclusive items everyday as well as a points prize everyday since there are more people playing, alchemy items can only be made, or sometimes they show up as quest prices because they will be that awesome

I have a question - in summer, can you use a red dark type or a red ice type. you know, cos those types are banned, but all red pokemon are allowed

Nope, if there is a type that is banned that is the absolute law, no matter what color they are or how they could apply to your name they can never be in your party.

and since RNG chooses everyone's season you get: Spring, be lucky it's not winter. but like I said winter users since in this challenge you need to have a party of 6 feel free to have 2 red 2 green

No... just as it states, yo have to use ground egg group, just not the types you mentioned. No other egg groups.

jespoke August 8th, 2011 10:42 AM

As always, we suck at understanding each other :I I meant items that are solely alchemy ingredients, with the purpose to bring more variety to the recipes. If we do this, we could make the Ruby and Sapphire items that are only available in the shop if you play that version, that are used for a version-exclusive alchemy recipe :) This could bring a little activity to the trading too, as the Ruby players will need to trade in order to get Sapphires.

Recipe examples:
Ruby + ??? = Earth Hammer
Sapphire + ??? = Sea Lantern
Ruby + Sapphire + Protection Charm = Air Blessings Charm

As for the pictures, i haven't gotten to it yet.

Ohhhhhhh that's a great idea....

Because when I think of alchemy I think of the Dragon Warrior games and how there is a lot of alchemy items only, how would I go about making them Ruby and Sapphire exclusive though (say this item is only available to this user) ohhhhhh actual Rubies and Sapphires I was thinking of stuff like onion root and special stones but that could all work

Laure's To Do List: which will take place after I clean my room, which I shoulda did yesterday:

Update player roster
Put up Alchemy Section
Put up Bomb Section

jespoke August 8th, 2011 11:30 AM

There can be some regular ingredients, some lottery ingredients and the Ruby and Sapphire.

heLLkitsune August 8th, 2011 12:43 PM

hello there fellow challengers, sign me up with my ruby version! I'm lucky I got in time to sign up, I've been following this challenge since the beginning and I can't wait to start playing it :3

King! August 8th, 2011 12:46 PM

My username in the OP is all caps <3 does that mean I win? :3

Anyways, my real reason for posting is to ask if instead of having two reds and two greens, could I have two fairies instead? Or could I have, like, an extra red or an extra green? Because two reds and two greens would take up four of the spaces in my party and idk if that would work...hmmm...idk. :P

Also, let's say that I can only have one fairy. So at first I use a Pokemon to pass the four Pokemon requirement. Later in the game, could I replace the fairy? So, like, I only have one on my team at all times, but I've swapped one out for another?

I'm trying to plan my team and I'm a bad decision maker. Dx

EDIT: xD ALSO, if a Pokemon fits two categories (like a green fairy), does it count as both? x_____x

jespoke August 8th, 2011 1:01 PM

There is a dark pokeball out there, so you shouldn't prepare too much unless you suck at this :P

I think you guys really are making the seasons challenge harder than it's suppose to be. If it's a green fairy then you don't need a red pokemon (is there even a green fairy? X:) but if you have a red pokemon on your team, since that green poke counted as your fairy you need another green.

But yes if you wish to not have 2 red 2 green, you may have 1 fairy

Like Jespoke just said maybe not rely on the colors, cause if someone boxes one pokemon, they've pretty much boxed the other

King! August 8th, 2011 1:38 PM

Yeah, I'm probably thinking this out too much. xD But oh well. Breloom is green and a fairy, I believe. :3

CarefulWetPaint August 8th, 2011 1:42 PM

Laure's Quick Rant I'd love to have badges, userbars all that good stuff, but Laure has no artistic ability to easily arrange this stuff in photo shop. Not good at it no way. And I hate asking for it on the forums because you're like getting something for nothing. And I have a lot of coins on gaia online so I thought I could buy some there, but no way too difficult.

but if it wasn't a fairy you wouldn't be able to use it because it wouldn't apply to anything

Wait...what? omg grass types aren't allowed or aren't banned? xD and it would be allowed or wouldn't be allowed?

If it wasn't a fairy and if grass types are allowed I could use it because it's green and I would probably have a red Pokemon, right?

lol I'm getting confused..

You would be able to use it with a rtd poke cuz its green but if i wasnt green you couldnt use it since its in another egg group as well as fairy it has to be strictly the said egg group (as in the first column on bulbapedia not the second) right Laure?

jdthebud August 8th, 2011 4:13 PM

my perception is that it can be in another egg group (i.e Water 1 or Water 2), unless the other egg group is banned. Right, Laure?

LaureTheLoner August 8th, 2011 4:17 PM

First column not the second column most be in the pure egg group

I swear you guys are making this difficult, If it doesn't apply to your team you don't get that Pokemon. You're making it sound as though if it isn't banned you can have it. Nope first column egg groups but mostly stick to your colors and types.

King! August 8th, 2011 4:26 PM

Okay, well it's my green Pokemon anyways so whatever. xD

I'm not too sure I want anyone to switch me now...o.o"

LaureTheLoner August 8th, 2011 4:31 PM

Yeah people who are planning their teams if you are unsure of something in your team just tell me about it, and I think that would be a lot easier to explain.

Snow Phoenix August 8th, 2011 9:01 PM

Wait. So let's say we did do the green and red thing and one of our set got boxed... we can't just replace the missing element in our pair? We have to box both? @[email protected]

Let's say you are missing your red, you have to keep your green boxed until you get yourself a replacement that meets the level requirements

MythologicalHAX August 8th, 2011 11:15 PM

Quest ideas
catch all pokemon in a given route (minor repeatable quest)
fully evolve 7 pokemon (your entire team plus one replacement)
sweep a gym with one poke (progressively gets harder)
beat your rival using only one poke (first two times don't count :P)

TheBowsinator August 9th, 2011 5:45 AM

I will be behind as i cant update for the first 3 to 4 days (im going to bush gardens in virginia totally forgot about that when signing up) so uh i'll still be in, but only AS A TROLLER who gets UBER sudden changes and uses them on people who think they have their team! Awesome you get fall as your season

jdthebud August 9th, 2011 11:34 AM

Okay, I made a list of usable Pokemon for the Summer Season as well.

Spoiler:

Heracross
Wurmple > Silcoon > Beautifly
Wurmple > Casoon > Dustox
Surskit > Masquerian
Nincada > Ninjask

By the way jespoke, you can only use pokemon in the pure fairy group, which means only Pluse and Minun qualify in R/S.

Laure, I assume we can use pre-evos that don't fall under the season limits as long as we evolve them as soon as we can, right?

Itstoppedatumbreon August 9th, 2011 12:19 PM

so, how many people will be in this roughly?
also, do you know when it will start

Thank you JD and Jespoke I'll put them in the OP next time I get around to editing it, which will be when I probably add more alchemy items and such

Quote:

I predict 20 for some reason
In my post it says we will start Saturday morning, but if we get 20 it could always start early because I don't think I can handle keeping track of more than that
(but then again I have a lot of things to do on this forum so it will probably be Saturday)

Okay Alchemy Section has been worked on but I will be adding more as ideas come to me, feel free to continue to suggest items and alchemy items, as well as your input on existing items

Bombs have also been added and edited from Jespoke's concept to affect the individual and since the odd pool on them is so big I made some of them a bit more extreme :D

Also forget I said anything about expert mode just ignore expert mode in the original forum that's just too much to keep track of.

Laure's To Do List
Update Roster
Start Alchemy Section
Put Up Bombs
Work on Quests
Finish Alchemy
Add Jespoke's and JD's available Pokemon list to forum
etc. etc

jespoke August 9th, 2011 1:28 PM

I just think that pure egg groups are too rare for this. I mean, winter has plusle and minun, and summer only has the aron family :/

Yeah but I'm working with a double edged sword here, for some seasons if I allow all egg groups it would be a blessing because you'd have diversity, for others there is no challenge at all because there are a ton of Pokemon.

It should be fine the purpose of the challenge is a mix of monocolor and monotype, the egg groups were just an added bonus to help you along.

jespoke August 9th, 2011 1:39 PM

Ok, i've started getting ideas for some alchemy now :)

As we now got confirmed we can use pokemon that evolve into fitting pokemon, so i just included the prevos too.

Zigzagoon -> Linoone

This is good early on, but gets kinda shallow with the huge majority being grass and poison types

Danish/English translation joke: (Happened in real life)

Once, the British queen visited Denmark. The hotel she would be staying prepared for this by putting stickers over the small screen in the elevators. Why? Because when they reached full speed, the screen said "In speed". This should be fine, if it wasn't because in danish, the words "In speed" are spelled "I fart", with the hotel didn't want the elevators to say to the queen!

LaureTheLoner August 9th, 2011 3:39 PM

Thank you guys super much! This will make it easier, I swear the seasons challenge made a lot more sense in my head when I wrote it.

More alchemy ingredients should by on by tomorrow than I am going to read up on R/S make us some quests and maybe some more goals will show up on the points table.

I'm in the same boat as Bowser, holiday on the 17th and I may or may not have internet access in the places I go (its a cruise so I will be somewhere different every day). I will take my game and have notes to update whenever I can! I think we are on 18 challengers so 2 spaces left people!

First 10 to cross the line gets 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 points respectively (like formula 1) and then the next round can be set up!

I have a suggestion: The Zigzagoon clause - every player can use only 1 (in words: ONE) Zigzagoon as their HM slave (btw, how many hm slaves are allowed? xD) because if every1 gets 5 zigzagoons in the beginning, som1 could be lucky and get lots of rare candies and that certain som1 would be overleveled (pickup in 3rd gen is pretty awesome)

HM slaves are allowed as long as they aren't used to fight, and I already made a clause about Pick Up'd items not counting towards points

Also as Dungeon Master I shouldn't be biased

but

everyone go after JD

His a horrible person

First 10 to cross the line gets 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 points respectively (like formula 1) and then the next round can be set up!

Catch 3 Surskits and Nuzelocke style grind with them, no help from your party Pokemon, until you got a lv. 15 one, lv. 10 one, lv. 5 one.

:D

King! August 10th, 2011 9:19 PM

If we had to do that, I would cry myself to sleep. Dx we aren't...really...?

Speaking of Surskit though, I LOOOOVE them, but I never play Ruby or Sapphire, and they aren't in Emerald. Unfortunately, I ended up with stupid Winter...nyeh... T^T Still, catching at least one Surskit would be a nice challenge. Ralts will be hard too, but I neeeeed it. ;.; ugh.

Okay how about Nuzelocke one Surskit to level 15 :p solo style, of course you can't use it against trainers, unless it corresponds to your season. All non-season Pokemon must be grinded against wild pokes.

jdthebud August 10th, 2011 9:39 PM

i think that just catching it would be a good quest, since it takes a while to find (think 15 minutes), and if it's worth 30+ points or something, it may be worth it, or not, depending on your view. Grinding it to L15 would take at least two sessions probably, which takes away from the idea that these are side quests that (in my mind) should be able to be completed in a day, while preventing major forward progress.

For example, the New Mauville quest is worthwhile in itself since you get a Thunderbolt TM out of it, but for those players who won't use the TM, doing the quest without Repels or something would be worthwhile since they get points, but it takes some time to do it.

That's my take on what the goal of quests should be - they shouldn't take longer than 1+ sessions if you are slow, while preventing major forward progress in the game.

By the way, if you end up using the Surskit idea (L12 might be good), make sure that they have to do it before reaching Dewford Town.

also, Laure, delete the space before your name under the Competitors, and add some more blank lines at the end. it's not lining up since there is an odd number of competitors.

I'm just trying to avoid everybody catching a Surskit (if that were the quest) and then since only one person wins the prize there being an argument over who completed it first and people being mad at they wasted their time when they didn't have to because maybe I didn't edit the OP fast enough

but the lv. 12 thing might be good or maybe just catch more than one since if I remember right they were super rare

Oh, only one person gets the prize? I'm not sure that's realistic with 17 people playing, all at different times. just make it so anyone can get it, but pick stuff that would take a long time, like grinding Surskit, or catching two of em. they are a 1% encounter rate, you know. I think that's a good idea, because it makes it fair for everyone, since those people who can use Masquerian (like me with Summer) would be able to just bait and switch.

Yeah, I never thought that the quests would only have one winner, that's kind of lame, especially when people will be at different stages of the game and may not be able to Fly/Surf/Dive to wherever you need to do the quest. Since the Clock is a lottery item, this will allow for more points to be earned in a single session, at the expense of time.

So here is a compilation of what I've read so far as decent quest ideas:

Spoiler:
Plot/Battle quests:
(various locations) beat all trainers in a given area (Victory Road, fast current area beyond Pacifidlog (routes 132-134), Team Aqua/Magma hideout, etc.) - this could just be a goal if you like.
Beat the Winstrate family with one Pokemon (meh, not much of one IMO).
New Mauville quest w/out Repels and no running from encounters
Beat all levels of the Trick House before the E4.

Contest/Ribbon quests:
Win a Normal Rank Contest.
Win a Super Rank Contest.
Win a Hyper Rank Contest.
Win a Master Rank Contest.
Get 6 Effort Ribbons (this one's a bit dicey, but it should take extra time to max out everyone's EVs).

Rare Hunter quests:
Catch 2 Surskit on Route 103 before reaching Dewford Town.
Catch 2 Skitty in Route 116 (2% encounter rate, so maybe just worth less), no time constraint since this is the only place they are found. Not sure about this one though.
Route 117 has a 1% pokemon: Volbeat in Ruby and Illumise in Sapphire. Catch either 2, or one of each, maybe. Surskit is also 1% here, but that's an earlier quest...
Routes 118 and 119 have Kecleon at 1%, catch 2 before reaching Fortree City.
Route 119 is the only location of Feebas. Find one and catch it. (based mostly on luck)
Get a Blue, Yellow, Red, and Green Shard from Underwater.
Get the Shell Bell from the old guy in Shoal Cave (although I'm not sure if this is possible on emulators).
Catch 2 Wailord on Route 129 before facing Wallace (or E4).

Getting the Regis was mentioned, but you get points from that anyway, so that's redundant.

Also, I think the Contests should be repeatable, but you only get the points for one win per Pokemon, so if you want another Normal Rank prize, you gotta use a different Pokemon.

Again, these are all based on the idea that anyone can complete the quest and earn the points or treasure.

Not sure if I missed any...

I'm not sure about point values/prizes. I'll let you come up with those, Laure. I also think that the quests should have space in between them, so completing two in one session should be really difficult unless you get really lucky.

If you want the reward to be just points, have them be goals, and quests should bequeath treasure, which should include points sometimes, but not always. and the more difficult the quest, the greater the chance of receiving a rare item.

LaureTheLoner August 11th, 2011 12:38 AM

I definitley like the idea of having to do contest and such
and I was going to have more than one quest up at a time so there will be more choices for people. The quest prizes are really too great for everyone to have a crack at it

It's basically a treasure chest that will probably compromise of a couple of shop items, couple of lottery items, some points, and an alchemy item

CarefulWetPaint August 11th, 2011 2:16 AM

The regi was like unlocking there caves not getting them. You know how you have to go through the currents and such.. That part..

Edit: Just remembered how bad dark pokemon are in Gen III because of Dark being special while almost all the dark types are physical attacks! *cries*

LaureTheLoner August 11th, 2011 6:25 PM

Phew made some changes to the OP

One more day of planning so if anyone has suggestions, complaints, add-ons suggest them now.

I added a couple more alchemy items, the Joltik has been added to exclusive items, JD and Jespoke's lists have been added, and rule change stating that the alchemy shop may only be accessed once a day.

Quests have been added let me know what you think

Last thing I really need to do is go through the Game FAQ and add places that need cleared to the points table.

King! August 11th, 2011 7:14 PM

Oooh, the OP looks nice. :3 Good work.

Just to clear this last thing up: if we train and use a Pokemon for a while because it is required, can we still replace it with another after a while? Like, If I needed four Pokemon so I grabbed a fourth to use until I could get osmething to replace it AFTER the fourth gym? Or once I use it, it's stuck?

LaureTheLoner August 11th, 2011 8:57 PM

@King As long as your Pokemon comply with your assigned season, they meet the level requirments, and you have the correct number needed at the time you nay rearrange it and do as you wish.

Darksualc August 12th, 2011 1:43 AM

Just to clear things out I'm using ruby on a emulator since my hard copy is gone. Maybe I should clean my room sometime

jespoke August 12th, 2011 3:42 AM

I think the last two alchemy items are a bit too extreme... :/

And i would like to change my game to Sapphire. I tested my ruby for tomorow, and saw i had used it for some hacking :/
