Things I dont like
OSHAWOTT lol
how horribly pixily the back sprites are >.<
a lot of the pokemon designs themselves
most of the sprites and pokedex entries for 1-4th gen are the same as 4th gen ones
the C-gear I never use it
and the games were far to short and easy I beat White at like the 23 hour mark or so (if I remember correctly)

Raichupacabra September 9th, 2011 10:11 PM

1. Not much use of the touchscreen like HGSS.
2. Not being able to SR for Reshiram or Zekrom.
3. No Lv.50/100 so now I gotta train everyone to 100.
4. Lack of Water Types
5. Only the Grunts, Ghetsis and N get battled.

gvgisdi September 10th, 2011 2:46 AM

Castelia City. I hate it. :(

waters_echo September 10th, 2011 2:53 AM

- The caves going "Boldore appeared! *run* Boldore appeared! *run* BOLDORE APPEARED BOLDORE APPEARED BOLDOREAPPEARED!" I think this is the first game in the entire thing where I've made enough of a use of repels that I acutally bothered to figure out which has the best value.
- The sudden level jump. That caught me by surprise, and was really irritating. People after the League were way more annoying than the entire League prior put together.
- Finding out that the Forest/City has a time limit (meaning that for someone like me, who a) gets distracted by the other games I have going, and b) spends time grinding to the high heavens.

And.
Most especially.
The.
RAILROADING.
RAILROADINGRAILROADINGEVERYWHERE!
I was just... Fffffffff *twitchtwitchtwitch* when I realised it.
There was no freedom to pick and choose what gym you do when, unlike every other game in the series.
R/G/B/Y/FR/LG you can pick any gym except for the last two after beating Misty to go to.
G/S/C/HG/SS you can choose what order you fight Chuck, Jasmine and Pryce, and you can go in effectively ANY order for the post-E4, save for the 16th badge, which is fixed as Earth.
R/S/E lets you go Roxanne-Wattson-Flannery-Brawly if you so desire, and you can fight Winona for your eighth badge if you like.
D/P/P has, at the least, the possibility of picking if you want to fight water or fighting first.
B/W lets you... fight the gyms in exactly the order that they are presented in the badge case and no other, forcing you to advance only in the strictly regulated perameters of the rail tracks.

One thing I don't like are the battle graphics. The zooming is useless and annoying and the battle backgrounds don't look aesthetic in my opinion.
The other thing I don't like about the games is the horrible linearity of Unova. There's no way to pass further until you do something and you can't skip leaders.
And finally, the last thing I don't like about the games are no significantly game-changing features. All of the new ones are situational, optional things like C-Gear (which I find useless), XTransciever, and the Dream World. Triple/Rotation battles occur very, very rarely. A person without Wi-Fi could feel he's playing a Gen IV game while playing B/W.

What irritate me is:
  • -How Game Freak trolling me with such strange stat or lack of type of some pokemon. Samurott, really? Special attack higher than Attack an not Water/Fighting?
-The music change when your pokemon is critical. I really DO irritated when the change all the sudden in fight with good music like the fight against Cynthia.
-How the wild pokemon and trainer feels like cheating. I mean, two flinch with Headbutt in a row?(But I kinda like this! Challenge ftw)
-How GTS still need you to get the pokemon entry before you can search them. What's the point of GTS then?

Oh I totally agree with you on the music change when you're Pokémon is in a pinch. I don't like it how the 'buu-puu' becomes an actual part of the theme, and it makes me want to get out of that theme even more than normal lol. Don't care if it's through dying or healing really >__>"

Jarred0809 September 12th, 2011 11:31 AM

Replacing perfectly good Pokémon with crappy new ones that look like they came from a bad ROMhack. Someone should make a patch that replaces Woobat with Zubat, Patrat with Rattata, and stuff like that except for the good pokemon (Resharim, Zekrom, the starters).

Palkia September 12th, 2011 11:35 AM

One thing that irritates me about b/w is the poor rematching system. Infact, last time I checked, I think there wasn't one at all.

Ashe1024 September 13th, 2011 9:17 AM

-I feel like there was a lack of certain types of pokemon in Black. (Fire for example, there were barely any from what I've seen.)
-I don't particularly care for the fact that after beating the E4/N/Ghetsis every trainer on the planet has level 60+ pokemon. Most of my pokemon were still around 48-52. Having to fight through that was a pain. 50+ would have been fine, but meh, whatever. At least it's good for experience.
-I don't like that after defeating N/Ghetsis the E4 and Alder automatically raise in difficulty. I feel like after I worked my tail off and spent a boatload on healing items to get through the E4 the first time, I deserve the title of champion then. I can understand the reasoning behind it though, give the players something to strive for.
-I can't stand the fact that almost ever "cute" pokemon evolves into something hideous. Nothing stays cute. Can I have Eevee back now, please? (That's just the girly girl in me.)
-I have very few friends that play pokemon. (I'm an army wife, I have very few friends in general.) So the C-Gear was near worthless to me. One of the reasons I've joined this site. I need more pokemon friends. lol.
-The same thing that has bothered me about every pokemon I've played since I started with silver (I did go back and play red and blue though and have yet to play soulsilver/heartgold)... I loved in Silver that when I finished in Johto I could travel to Kanto. There were new pokemon, new gym leaders and it was fun! Why was this taken away in all the games since?!?!?! (Aside from where the regions are geographically of course.)

And to the two people who mentioned lack of a vs recorder, I have one in black??

Yeah the only place where you can really rematch trainers is in the domes in Nimbasa City. I haven't gotten further than Opelucid yet so I don't know for the rest of the game though.

Not really :x There were 13 fire types in Black and White while in Sinnoh there were only 5 (unless I missed something, but still, that's almost double the amount).

Actually, there were 15 total fire types in B/W
Victini
Tepig, Pignite, Emboar
Pansear, Simisear (who I found to truly be almost useless as fire type)
Darumaka, Darmanitan
Litwick, Lampent, Chadelure (who I found more useful as ghost type)
Heatmor
Larvesta, Volcarona
Reshiram (who is better used as a dragon in my opinion)
The problem I have with it is that you're pretty much limited to 8 because the others are evolutions. A few of the options I find to lack the power of your older fire types. And of the 15 total, 9 of them are dual type, so you actually only truly end up with 6 full fire types.

The Sinnoh region had a very low amount as well when you consider you options were Chimchar and it's evolved forms and Ponyta/Rapidash. So you had two options pretty much. One of those two (Chimchar's evolutions) becoming dual type. I was upset about the lack there too. But the point here was to point out what we don't like about B/W not what we don't like about the other games.

Wow, I could write a 5-page essay on this. I guess I'll just summarize this.

Why I don't like Pokemon Black and White as much as everyone else
An Essay by Elgyem

Tab. of Contents
I. Global Link
II. N
III. Unova
IV. The story
V. The Pokemon
VI. The Hype

Spoiler:

I. The Pokemon Global Link. I didn't like having to use a website made for 6-year-olds to get a Shinx or Lotad. Plus, it's boring as all hell. And unlike the Pokewalker, it isn't fun in the least.

II. N. I don't care WHAT you say, N is the most grossly overrated character in the Pokemon games, from the annoying Yaoi (or is it Yuri?) fanart of him and the male protagonist, to the insipid Ferris Wheel Shipping and the amount of 12-year-old girls gushing over him. Seriously, he just needs to die. In a hole.

III. The region. Unova somehow managed to be even more bleak and boring than Sinnoh, and that's saying something. Plus, the Pokeball shaped island in the middle made the region seem unnatural.

IV. The storyline. Uh-oh, here come the flames of hell. Yes, I know, "OMG DA STORY IS SOOOO AMAZING!!!!!!11111" Really, though, it isn't anything special. Sure, it's more detailed than most Pokemon games, but who plays Pokemon for the story? Just because you think N is "HAWT!!!!1111" doesn't make the story good. Sure, there's a bit of a dramatic revelation when you find out that Ghetsis is N's father, and that he cut off N's hand as N screamed "NOOOOOOO!!! THAT'S NOT TRUE!!!" but it's still not that interesting a plot point. I know that you closed-minded fanboys will say that the story is perfect, but hey, you fanboys refuse to play any other RPG series besides Pokemon.

V. The Pokemon. Sure, I, like any other red blooded Pokemon fan, like me some Snivy. However, the Snivy line is one of the few good lines in the game. And many of the cooler ones (Elgyem/Beheeyem, Cofagrigus, Beartic, Scolipede, etc.) are overlooked in favor of overrated Psychics like Reuniclus (yeah, I like it too, but it is hugely overrated) and overdone Dragons (Haxorus and Hydreigon, anyone?). Plus, not including past Pokemon was a bit of a mistake, especially the exclusion of any new Eeveelutions.

VI. The hype for this game is a bit overdone, too. When this was coming out, there was a collective discussion, concerning the advancements of this game. Many people thought it would revolutionize Pokemon, and very few thought it would be a step back. When it came out, what did we get? An overdone, sub-par story, no more contests or Pokeathlons but instead just a lame Musical, many bad Pokemon that everyone likes, No more "follow me" feature, a puzzling C-Gear that is impossible to use right, an underwhelming animated battle system, deformed super-skinny sprites, a nonexistant postgame, and a sense that the game took a large step backwards from the brilliant HG/SS.

TheGr8 September 14th, 2011 6:03 PM

The main thing that annoys me is how the wifi battles are set up, i wish you could play 6v6 with anyone in the world just on random battle. But it's 3v3 and if you want to battle wifi with your friends you're pokes have to be 100 :/

tnguye3 September 15th, 2011 3:24 AM

The following were irritating in B/W imo:
-Short routes and too many bridges.
-Many ugly Pokemon designs.
-Lack of Fire type Pokemon.
-Capturing the Legendary Pokemon AFTER the Elite Four.
-Music doesn't agitate me as it did with HG/SS or R/S/E or even R/B/Y.

Overall, I didn't enjoy it so much. Preferred Soul Silver way more, even though I played through Gold, Silver and Crystal, which kinda makes this a 4th playthrough. :P

Melody September 15th, 2011 4:20 AM

  1. Misuse of angles. - Seriously, I understand that you want to show off the angle aspects of the new game engine, but why not allow us to DISABLE it? Or USE IT ELSEWHERE? Seriously. This gets especially annoying when you're somewhere like the Skyarrow bridge and you can barely see the NPCs you're talking to. It's especially annoying when you're playing on a smaller system.
  2. Bridges - Too many. Skyarrow was cool, but there were several which were unnecessary. Not to mention the bridges is where they spam the poor use of angles in the engine itself, and I find this to be the reason why people dislike bridges
  3. Diminishing Gains EXP wise - Please, return to the old EXP system. It does nothing for the game and makes for more annoying grinding...and forcing us to spam-hunt Audino and other exp honeypots.
  4. Rerun Pokemon - A lot of Pokemon in this generation have an unoriginal feel. Seriously...it's annoying. The cuteness and ugliness factors also seem to have doubled. Please. No more ugly pokemon. And we have enough saccharine cute pokemon. No more!

Pokemon is now a korean mmo, learn to deal with grinding. Also get an action replay to solve you "misuse" of angels.

Another thing that irks me has already been mentioned, and that's the GTS.

Oh, you don't like the GTS, with everyone asking for a Lv9 or under Reshiram? WELL NEITHER DO I. It's too bad that Game Freak couldn't learn how to block hackers from the GTS. It's also annoying going on GTS Negotiations and finding that everyone is offering Shiny Lv100 Arceuses in Master Balls. I'm sick of the bloody hackers already! And I agree that the game is trying too hard to show off the graphics. Shoulda wrote that in my essay.

GlitchCity September 16th, 2011 12:46 PM

When I first started the game, I go to the options panel like I always do in a pokemon game. And I noticed something; the L=A option wasn't there :( And I kept forgetting that periodically throughout the game. I press the L button and the text won't move! -insert troll face here-

GameFreak should've never taken that option out :t056:

Yeah, seriously. Why did GameFreak even bother to remove the L=A option? I always liked to change that to reduce the wear on my A button (on my first DS, it got smashed down so much that it was nearly impossible to use).

Not too mention the music change when the gym leaders only have one Pokemon left. Seriously nintendo, while you make them looks awesome in term of design(Except Skyla's "pilot" bikini) You give them weak pokemon, and humiliate them with such corny music when we about to beat them? Seriously nintendo *insert seriously.jpg*

Spoiler:

II. ABSOLUTELY AGREE. N are just way too overrated as character. It just like he is the most bishie pokemon human character with "uniqu" personality you can find/ The worst part is how the majority of fandom treat him as rival and drew him in fan arts of Rivals(while he is not a rival) or fan arts of BW quartet(For god sake, he is not your childhood friend. Stop drawing him smiling beside Hilbert/Hilda, Bianca, and Cheren) And its called yaoi if you care. Yuri would be like ElesaxHilda

IV. I agree that the story are way too overrated. Many people speak it like its the best story of RPG you can find while it is absolutely not. There are so many thing that lacking, especially the characterization of Human and side story. I know that the Gym leaders have their fair share in the story, not like in previous generation where they only sit around in their gym. But they still lack of background story

GTS is kinda Love-and-Hate relationship. While its true that so many people request under lvel 9 legendaries, there's still normal people who requested normal pokemon. I got my drizzle Polioted from there by trading it with Vulpix:P.

YesMyGengar September 16th, 2011 7:06 PM

The lack of Battle Frontier, I hope the Grey version will come out with one, or at least the R/S remake.
I mean, I need something to do while I'm not being awesome evolving a Pokemon. The Battle Subway just doesn't cut it.

Poketto-Monsuta September 16th, 2011 9:07 PM

My issues
-Anyone realize the fact that you cannot get unobtainable pokemon(old gen starters/legendaries) without having another DS, no palpark... I just bought one ds to play BW.
- Level Jump post game/ and no post game story, we should battle the sages to capture them/battle two girls that take care of N.
- get Hydreigon at level 64.... Whywhywhy? but why not 55 what makes it so special?
- Grinding grinding grinding
- No safari zone? every game had one except this.(hg/ss change it for 2nd gen)
- Unova to linear
- Global link? really I have to play terrible online games to get special pokemon and I can only do it for one hour a day. And wait 24hrs to do it again. Also you could get pokemon from it that wouldn't evolve because of national dex restrictions.
- GTS awful unreasonable pkmn trades/GTS negotiations even worse all pokemon offered were level 100 shinies from stuck up hackers.
- Pokemon Musical...really?
- terrible TM's also locations you get earthquake post game....
- except the daruma dolls, candlejacks, heavy moles, cotton grimlins, ghost jellies, axe/hydra dragons, ghetto-thug lizards, and sterioded clowns these new pokemon are terrible. Maybe thats just me

But I understand that they're either trying to reach younger people or just getting lazy with the internal stuff.

edit: maybe its time to invest in an action replay?

Druddigon September 16th, 2011 9:09 PM

Cheren / Bianca.
Whenever you go through a whole bunch of battles, and your pokemon are weak, you just want to get to town fast and get your guys healed up. NOPE.
