175.
I better get my poster when I get the game(s). I missed out on Lugia because they ran out and I was so sad. No wonder why I've preordered from the other Gamestop ever since. |
176. Oh wow, a gen six Pokemon! =D you guys better not go and post the entire dex here:P
On a side note, my ps3 passed away some time ago, along with all my save files. This includes the great hero Ra'iba, savior of Skyrim, god rest his soul. Luckily for me, the legendary edition Skyrim for the pc was on sale, starting the tale of another hero in the making Spoiler:
Make way for Hiisada! |
177.I like to play short role played games where i'm a warrior and someone is my rival ..sometimes i play the bad role sometimes the good sometimes neither and just wanderer who face troubles.....anyone likes this too??
|
178
Part one of my Rocky rewatch complete. I love this series. |
179. @Broken_Arrow: I usually don't like short RPGs, I prefer the ones in which I can invest a lot of time. I also rarely play as a bad guy, my current character from Skyrim is a wanderer.
Hiisada is an archer who mainly fights with poisoned arrows. Some brand her a coward, for preferring hit-and-run tactics. She sneaks around the lands, pickpocketing the unaware, or trying to land a shot before getting noticed. She'll flee upon getting noticed, most likely attempting to sneak up on her target again after they lost sight of her. She also is quite skilled with a one-handed axe, and her light armor rating is more than decent. Her magical healing abilities are far from shabby as welll, as she prefers to use spells in order to preserve as many potions as possible. |
180.short RPGs are like short stories,you don't need to make a thread for it..but yup,i understand :)
|
181
The problem with Elder Scrolls is that the experience and story never really opens up as you get further or as you create more characters. You can add mods, which add incredible amounts to the experience (and I can't play without them...well, that's the case for Skyrim, at least), but it's generally still the same experience. I mean, I love Oblivion, but I always felt that that was its biggest problem, especially because the games never really put anything into their life aspects. |
182
I loved Skyrim sooo much but, yeah I can agree that they didn't put much into their life aspects. If you want an RPG/kinda open world but, not really go check out the Rune Factory Series :3 i really liked those just cause they were so romance based XD |
183
I've never played any of these games. |

177
Morrowind can look pretty good with the right moddage. Shame about those bugs though. |
178. Never played Morrowind, but I love rune Factory 1 and 3.
|
179
Oblivion still the best Elder Scrolls for me. |
180
My first Elder Scrolls was Skyrim. that game was so fun to play. |
181
Skyrim was a lot of people's first Elder Scrolls. I didn't really like it as much as Oblivion, largely because the culture and vivid appearance of Tamriel is just so much more pleasing than Skyrim's Nordic, mountainous, gray region. It's sad, because if Oblivion were the game to have been released a couple years ago and Skyrim in 2008/2006, Oblivion would have been the household name. It's all because of advertising, I'd say. I mean, Elder Scrolls has always been a groundbreaking series, People just didn't know about it (and they still don't). You wouldn't believe how many times I've heard someone refer to Skyrim as the name of the series (and how many times I've heard people call ESO "Skyrim Online" or "A Skyrim MMO"). I dunno, I'm just tired of the Skyrim here, there, and everywhere and no love for Oblivion or Morrowind. |
182
I just never get around to playing much of any game like that. Damn time consuming open world games. :( |
183.
Never liked oblivion that much to be frank, maybe because I first played Skyrim. I'm not really a fan of the level up mechanics in Oblivion. |
184.
I would try out Oblivion for the sake of seeing Sheogorath there. man,the Wabbajack was fun to use. |
185
Nobody was a fan of leveling up in Oblivion, but it was such a fantastic game in other areas that it wasn't too much of an issue. This is especially true thanks to Oblivion's emphasis on equipment, so you wouldn't just overpower everything and progression was on a more reasonable scale. Still, the leveling was cumbersome. But the timing is a big part of it. I played Oblivion first (Well, Morrowind first, Oblivion second) and I was blown away. At the time, it was one of the most impressive games I'd ever seen, so when Skyrim came out, I wanted it to be to Oblivion what Oblivion was to Morrowind. And, as a sequel, it's alright. It adds things, but it went the safe root, mostly, and in a lot of ways it felt like a modern expansion to Oblivion. Problem is, most people played Skyrim first, so they viewed it as a whole new game rather than a sequel, and thus, their views on the game would be the reverse of my own. ...And that's generally why I tell people to start with Morrowind or Oblivion. |
186
I quite enjoyed the three or so hours I've spent on Oblivion. Will pick up again if I ever feel like shooting things with arrows and mucking about. |
187
I barely played an Elder Scrolls game, but for the past 3 years have been sucked into it's vast lore and history. It's quite a fun read. |
188
You can always read the in-game books, they have some good literature. I mean, if there's one thing that the creators cared about when making the game, it was the world and history of Tamriel. ...Well technically that's two things, but you get what I mean. |
189.
Sounds like they're bit on Social Studies haha! I haven't played any of the Elder Scroll games and with the other games that I would rather get instead I don't find myself doing so for a while. |
190
Speaking of RPGs, Tara, get Rune Factory 4. It's for you. If it's anywhere as good as 3 was, you'll love it. |
191. some of the in game books sure are freaky though. XD Pickpocketing gets really easy after investing a single point in it... makes leveling a piece of cake too.
Wait, when will rf 4 come out? How ng not too soon, as I still have to finish skyrim and xcom: enemy unknown. That amd I'm waiting for the new pokemon and sonic game as well. |
192
omg omg. all this talk bout rune factory 4 is making me even more excited(will be my first rune factory game) I wonder if their is another rune factory that I can play in the meantime. oh well |

This is a great Fall for games (especially for the 3DS). I'm sad that I can't get Inazuma Eleven 3, though, living in America as I do. |
Quote:
I really really want to get it. ;v; But I have like.. no money so I can't get it when it comes out. Maybe a bit after when I do have the money or something though. I really liked 3 and Tides of Destiny so I have good hopes for 4. |
195. Dangit, looks like I have to wait a good few months till I'll be able to play it... XD
I'm going an a vacation late October, need to save up a bit of money. |
196.
Bad thing about everything coming out so close together haaaa. |
197. Indeed. But, I guess I can't complain, as I'm able to invest dozens of hours in the games I already got.
Speaking of which, time to turn Hiisada into an official thief. |
198.
I'll invest sometime in reading the last book of a series and the rest of it on Pokemon X and Fire Emblem: Awakening and anything else I feel like playing. Outside of school and such of course. |
199
Its da mew here. LOOK INTO MY EYES. |
200
Just watched an episode of MythBusters for the first time. Why on earth does the internet love this show so much? |
201
*looks into mew's eyes" *dies because of adorableness overload" EDIT:And I just got ninjed lol |
202.
Speaking of books, I really need to continue reading The Discovery of Heaven. NINJAS @Lapras, having a hard time believing that you never watched it before. It's been a good two years I guess since I last saw on ep, which is pretty weird as well, since I was a huge fan. XD |
203
Because people like finding out whether common sense, makes sense Lap lap |
204
Speaking of FE, I wonder if there'll be any info on Fire Emblem X ShinMegaTen at TGS. Also, love Mythbusters. It's just a good show, one of the few currently airing shows that I watch. |
205
I sort of miss Muthbusters. I remember enjoying brainiac to some extent, too. Pop science just works. |
206
Yes, the Richard Hammond one was pretty fun. |
207.
Actually been watching a few Mythbuster episodes on Netflix lately. Some I've already seen but there's actually quite a few I haven't. |
208
Atm I am trying to fight k the urge to download and play more roms. I already idiotically succumbed(once) recently. :( I mean yea. I do want to play one of the ds pokegames but I dont think I will illegally do it just to play one game lol |
209.Just lost in a game at a point i REALLY WANTED TO WIN...surprisingly not annoyed with that ^^
|
210
Did not even realize it was Richard Hammond. Wow, I was so young back then. In 2007. |

214
Just realized I have more than an entire series of Top Gear to catch up on. Top Banana. |
215. wow, you guys sure stay up late XD. Oh man I have to work today at 8 in the morning.
|
216.
Psh 8:30pm (when I last posted) isn't late. :b It's midnight now so I might go to bed soon but its the weekend and I have nothing to do really tomorrow so yeah. |
217. Too busy moving into the dorms. Love this so much.

218
How does that even happen. I thought we Swedes were supposed to have the good internet speeds. :( http://www.speedtest.net/result/2981942242.png What's taking the most time right now with HASHI is how much I want to rework it. The three chapters I've made are HASHI, and I sort of want to make the continuation different in style, feel, and name. |
219.
I finished watching Sherlock and started Doctor Who lately. Gosh, it was some really cheesy effects. Also, hi. :o |
220
http://www.speedtest.net/result/2981993599.png B- Not Bad at all! Changed my sig and Avatar. thumbs up to whoever knows the anime that this girl is from :) |
221
It's not a very difficult anime to recognize, to be fair. |
Quote:
It shouldn't. I'm loving every minute of it right now <3 |
223
Awesome. I bet it's more fun now when all the episodes are out than back when I watched it. Waiting one week between each segment makes it difficult to remember plot points and stuff. |

When you are finished it you can watch the far superior Robotics;Notes. |
227
Or play the game. Can't really see R;N's OST being better than S;G's, though. It was pretty awesome. |
228
I have no idea what I'm doing thank you, New York, for being the only city with enough tall buildings for Spider Man to do his thing |

You're posting in DLTCS0. Now you know. |

I'd give the music from the two series about the same score, both used their OST extremely well in places. You could easily listen through them both without getting bored. |

Hugghgghgg http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2013/09/21-1/english-version-of-steinsgate-visual-novel-now-up-for-pre-order I'm so exited ;_; Now, SG, later RN. I see good things for 5pb VNs in the future. ...Also, to soothe Lappy's hate, 'cause you know I love ya: http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2013/09/20-1/pixiv-showcases-winners-of-revolutionary-girl-utena-fan-art-contest |
233
Shame that being a VN it will automatically be bad. Visual Novels are the pleb tier media, yup. Stained glass style pic towards the bottom of that page looks glorious, if only they posted a bigger version. |
234
nya nya nya nya nyaa nya nya nya nya (been looking at viral videos all day lol) |
235
I...can't really tell if you're serious. But I'm waiting for them to translate R;N, 5pb does these things well, and S;G's VN was so good that I'm not going to make the same mistake again. Also, what I said about the OST was butt talk. Though, if things keep up like this, I fear that I may develop a negative bias for a game I'm really excited about :/ |
236
I'm generalizing an awful lot but good writers tend not to write visual novels. The medium is even more ''otaku'' targeted than light novels thus the works are stuffed full of tropes. Steins;Gate is probably one of better plot orientated ones but if the anime manged to give me the dating sim vibe I'd hate to thing what the VN would do. Picture, text and music can work well but you'll often find the art is trash and the music is horribly repetitive, even if it is a piece you originally liked. So yeah. Books, film, song, anime, tv shows and pretty much anything else you can think of would be ahead of visual novels for me in terms of storytelling and enjoyment. There are undoubtedly some that I would enjoy but I don't fancy wading through the bad ones in this medium, at least not yet. |
237
Yet in the case of F/SN you don't have any other choice. |
238
I got half way through the first feito/sutei naito route before it got too much, I hear the other two are much better but still. Type-Moon/Nasu writing is just so dry, long winded and even pretentious. On the odd occasion the story actually feels like it might get going you're undoubtedly seconds away from the main selling point of the series, an ugly sex scene. Add on the unattractive art style and you have something something truly shocking, if it wasn't babby's first Jap story game back in 05 I don't think you'd hear about it at all. Adaptation was bad but I still enjoyed it more than the source. Even their best series, Kara no Kyōkai, isn't good. |
237
Hm...I see your point, and even agree with you to an extent. I've come across a number of LNs that had ear bleeding music or terribad art. I think that it comes from the fact that their work probably wouldn't be accepted in a normal novel market and, in terms of the normal otaku's interests, they think that visual stimulation will be a lot more attractive than LNs, which are filled with words and don't allow for user interaction. Or something. Though, in Steins;Gate's case, it felt more real as a Visual Novel...and I think that's the real problem. I love the anime and all, but it's clear that the studio set out to make an anime rather than...well, Steins;Gate. 5pb was VERY specific about how it wanted to portray the relationships between characters, often making them more complex and inconspicuous than they are presented in the anime. Regardless, they were all human emotions for human characters, and they had the freedom to make the characters human and develop the characters at their leisure because the game had no time limit and knew that the player was in for the long haul. The studio that handled the anime, however, had much, MUCH less time, and decided that it would be better to instead make the relationships far more on the surface and, in some cases, generic (this was largely the case with Makise Kurisu, whose role as the annoyed intelligent member was basically changed to the tsuntsun blushing intelligent member that said "pervert" a lot). Plus, a lot of the game was cut out (which was inevitable), so quite a bit of character development was left out (especially in Mayuri's case) as was an incredible amount of character interaction. That's my spiel, I guess. In short, the VN was far more human, less cliched, and the anime could have been handled better. The Dating Sim vibe doesn't really exist there, though I expected that it would, especially after I found out that there's an ending for each female LabMem. But they handled the endings unexpectedly well, and they weren't just "X falls in love with Okabe, the end." Rather, the VN knew what it was trying to do and what it wasn't, and did well not to conclude all that the game tried to develop into a dry love solution. |
240
I don't think I'm qualified to decide what's good and what's not, so I'll take a seat elsewhere. |
Quote:

242
If Mayuri and her relationship with Okabe had been developed I would have cared so much more when bad things started happening to her, just thinking about how much better it could have been annoys me. If what you say is true and the VN characters aren't just meme spouting masturbatory aids then I might well give the VN a playthrough one day. There were things quite clearly left out of the R;N anime adaptation but it just didn't bother me. I guess that was the annoyance nullifying power that is having fun. |
243
/vp/ is such a time devourer. Now to decide, watching cartoons or playing Fire Em- Quote:

It is almost midnight in Sweden, you should curl up with some hot chocolate and watch some toons or a film. 'tis what I'll be doing in an hour or so. |
245
7 mins till 6 over here. looks like its about to rain too. |
246
Aaaactually it happens to be way past midnight already. Watching some dystopian sci-fi now, but my mind is a bit too tired to follow. Might as well sleep swoon. |
247. I'm not sure what to say but I hope all of you are having good days!! ^__^

248
its only 6:12 PM here in the south lmao |

I'm sure that'd be no different had you lived further north. :D |
250
The times they are a-changin'. |
251
Almost caught up with Breaking Bad just in time for the spoiler flood tomorrow. |
252.
I've been considering getting into that show. Chances are I'll always be a season behind because I would be watching it via Netflix though. |
253
Well it's ending, so that's nothing to worry about. |
254.
Oh really? Then I might wait until it ends then and all of it is on Netflix. ♥ |
255
Episode last week was goooooooooood. I'm just watching some more of The Wire tonight, just about to finish season 2. |
Typically I don't watch too many dramas on TV because I don't want to become emotionally attached to them, which I have seen happen whenever I watch anything too emotional, whether through TV or movies.

I'm more interested in a book series than any TV series I normally watch lately. |
2
It was very hard to watch the Ozymandias episode. Everything just went to crap so bad. |
3
Now that I have all the kids I could produce, I need to think about their pairings. ...Though I'd rather just let them roam around as they like. I don't particularly like any of their potential relationships. I wish I could just make everyone part of Lucina's harem. |
4
I just watched an awful film, I suggest none of you ever watch Soul Plane. |
5
Are you kidding? I enjoy the heck out of terrible movies. Plus, because I'm black, Soul Plane is on my watchlist anyway. |
6
Bad films can be good, not that one. |
7.
Bad films can be fun to laugh at. Unless you can't laugh at it. Then it's just bad. |
8
Yeah. If you guys know a guy named Spoony, I think he explained it pretty well (though it was in reference to games, but it was accurate nonetheless). I'd previously always described it as mediocre vs. bad, as mediocre is just plain boring while bad can be enjoyable in its nature. He described it as boring vs. bad, though in pretty much the same way. |
9
Finished a Pokémon drawing. I missed this feeling. |
10.
I'll have to remember that next time I find a film boring or bad or whatever. That feeling is a wonderful feeling to have. |
