Sweet Candace September 24th, 2011 4:53 AM

We have 2 TV's working with a cable output. One in the living room, and one in the basement. There's 2 TV's unplugged downstairs, although one got soaked from the rains after Irene. There's a final TV in my room, that I can only play my XBOX on, as there is no cable wire connecting to my TV.

My dad said something about removing all our old TV's...but they're big and clunky.

Bloo September 24th, 2011 5:55 AM

All the computers in my house are HDTVs with the exception of one CRT TV that is used in a room.

Also, I'm annoyed when trying to play older video games on an HDTV :/

When your TV doesn't upscale things well, things go horribly.

On the other hand, my PC's graphics card upscales things well enough to make sub-1080p content tolerable. Actually, more like, pretty good. Same goes with my 3DS and DS games.

vaporeon7 September 24th, 2011 7:49 AM

So... many... confusing... words...

I love having a TV in my room it's HD and great for video games and stuff :P

Shameless advertising

I finally was able to convince my dad to ditch our old desktop after 7 years for a new one. Our new one has all that HDTV stuff in it. XD

It was the oldest, slowest, most horrible computer you could imagine. Took like 5 mins to load a webbrowser, for instance.

Sweet Candace September 24th, 2011 8:50 AM

Our old computer had dial-up service, and that was a huge pain in the butt. Calls couldn't come in or out when someone was online. Thank goodness we got Broadband after getting our new computer, because it's so much faster, and calls can come in and out.

I think we had our old computer for about 8 years until water got spilled into the keyboard accidentally, we still had Windows 98. Windows 98 is so ancient...

Shiny Celebi September 24th, 2011 9:07 AM

I wish I had a flat screen for my room.

Weeaboo Name September 24th, 2011 9:32 AM

I miss dial up, I mean I used to get so much reading done whilst pages were loading up.

Also new edition...Only took me 13 pages to notice.

Oryx September 24th, 2011 9:55 AM

People still have landlines? xD We got rid of ours years and years ago, since you can use a cellphone in a house, lol.

Landlines where I live are cheaper when a family with 4 members or more uses a single dialnum, than cells. I use a cell, too, but that's because I live by myself most of the time.

alisaie September 24th, 2011 10:18 AM

I don't have a cellphone, so right now I'm kind of glad that we have our home phone. =3= it's also a way for my mom to call the house without picking one of us to call on.

Aquacorde September 24th, 2011 10:35 AM

Gosh how did we get from an epic football party to this ;;

alisaie September 24th, 2011 10:40 AM

I think it might have went from football -> TV -> phones -> landlines. or something. xD;

It's funny how the topic can get a mind of it's own and we change it every hour or so. XD.

Oryx September 24th, 2011 10:46 AM

Well I talked about phones because of dial-up xD

But football! Notre Dame is playing! Notre Dame is...losing...;____;

Sweet Candace September 24th, 2011 10:49 AM

Notre Dame is...overrated.

Always has been, always will. I don't know why ESPN and NBC are so in love with the Irish, they haven't done anything impressive in years. Maybe even since Lou Holtz retired from Notre Dame.

Oryx September 24th, 2011 11:03 AM

YOU'LL NEVER GET MY NOTRE DAME EMBLEM ;____;

Well NBC has a contract with Notre Dame to play every game, so there is that, lol. But we're winning now! So there! It's so ironic...we're so good at pretty much every sport except for the one we're known for. :( We'd be really good if we didn't throw the ball to the other team so much!!

Sweet Candace September 24th, 2011 11:14 AM

But, the main thing really crippling Notre Dame is they can't close out games (@ Michigan this year), or they make boneheaded decisions costing them wins (vs. Tulsa last year.)

That's what is costing Notre Dame, they seem to always make the same mistakes.

Oryx September 24th, 2011 11:28 AM

Well we won this time so there!!!!

Livewire September 24th, 2011 11:32 AM

Y'all know the Buckeyes are obviously better than ND.

Sweet Candace September 24th, 2011 11:34 AM

Come on, it's clearly Texas that's the best. Hook 'em Horns. I mean, they have their own cable network.

Oryx September 24th, 2011 11:52 AM

Only cause they're the biggest college! D;

Cheer cheer for old Notre Dame

The only film sequel I've seen, that I think is legitimately better than the first film would be The Dark Knight over Batman Begins.

Good luck getting them on Netflix, you'll have to get them via mail service/Qwikster . All those stupid changes is the reason I cancelled my membership there.

Aquacorde September 24th, 2011 12:52 PM

The general rule I've found involving sequels is that the original is amazing, the second is meh, the third is not quite as good as the first, and anything beyond sucks.

Also Netflix is awesome.

They offer the streaming service? Usually all you'll find on the streaming service is B-list and direct to dvd movies, none of the major blockbusters. You'll have to have both services (so 7.99 for streaming + 7.99 more for DVD's) in order to really see everything you want. Pretty stupid. Also cost Netflix about 800,000 potential subscribers.

My boyfriend got rid of his DVD service just because he could find everything he wanted on the digital version on his ps3 though. o-o;

Streaming doesn't have all the things I want to watch, but it's got a decent library on its own. I just download anything else I might be missing out on. Cheapness, go!

Cheapness ftw!

My 'To Watch' folder is getting pretty big, the majority is anime, and then some tokusatsu, JDramas and KDramas. Should get to watching them, but I'm not that motivated.

Her September 24th, 2011 1:39 PM

I barely download movies any more, lol. I just get out movies for $1 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at my local video store. I think the last movie I downloaded was... A Streetcar Named Desire?

uggggh Big Bang Theory I have no time for that show

Aliens is definitely better than Alien. Although I loved Ridley Scott's Alien, Aliens has a much better storyline. Besides, the only good actor in Alien was Sigourney Weaver anyway.

Shining Raichu September 24th, 2011 3:09 PM

re: downloading - I never ever download movies or TV shows, I like to kick it old school. I wait til they show on TV here because I prefer the old-style TV experience with the ads and everything.

Shiny Celebi September 24th, 2011 3:35 PM

I like to watch shows when they are on. If I cant, I record it on my DVR.

alisaie September 24th, 2011 3:42 PM

I've grown to watch things on TV as well, which is why I don't really watch anime too often unless the series really catches my attention. For the time being, there is really only one series that does, though it might bump up to two (three if you want to include the Symphonia episode) in November. The second one is actually not anime though, but BBC Merlin.

As far as I'm concerned, the Alien franchise ended with Aliens. Alien 3 was terrible, and the less said about Alien Resurrection, the better.

Also, regarding the Godfather trilogy, say what you will about the first two films, but at least both of them are better than the third.

Winona Ryder shouldn't have a career, thanks to her role in Alien: Resurrection.

I only download TV shows that take a few decades before they reach Australia. I would stream them, but sites like hulu and bbc hate Australia and tell us Aussies to go away. :(

I... don't need to change my sig, the only creativity is when it comes to profiles or forum styles which is pretty easy for me despite my current profile sucking. Luckily I don't need to change my sig, though, otherwise I'd have no ideas.

Her September 24th, 2011 7:08 PM

Nica, you changed your style. WHAT HAPPENED TO KEEPING IT FOR A WHOLE YEAR? HMM GURL?

I just follow the same lines of creativity when it comes to css signatures, I have a tiny selection to choose from. I just choose a style of signature and place a random image, link my usual links and move on.

Ho-Oh September 24th, 2011 7:09 PM

Pretty much the same here. I can make a decent sig out of anything, but I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I'm incapable of coding complex CSS.

Esper September 24th, 2011 10:23 PM

Playing scrabble with made up words is more fun than playing by the real rules. You make up the words' meanings, too, and you win if you make everyone laugh the most.

I used to think that CSS was really hard and heck I don't want to learn it. Now I have it I'm convincing others it isn't that hard. I just like playing around with it :3

Impo September 24th, 2011 10:44 PM

I can kinda make good CSS, I made my sig by myself still proud :')

Skip Class September 24th, 2011 10:53 PM

donavannj September 24th, 2011 10:58 PM

I'm lazy about playing around with CSS, but I can do a lot with it when I'm not lazy with it.

Skip Class September 24th, 2011 11:01 PM

True, I only fix my css when I'm not lazy or just bothered about my current CSS

Skip Class September 24th, 2011 11:37 PM

It does take a bit of practise, but thanks to forum CSS it was able to help me a lot on my ICT project when I had to make a website :D

Binary September 24th, 2011 11:54 PM

I haven't done any CSS in years. 'Years' might be an exaggeration, but.. ugh, yeah. :|

The only time I really messed around with CSS was with the Pokédex 3DSnap contest thread.

Kura September 25th, 2011 1:47 AM

I'm terrible at CSS. I didn't even do the CSS for my sig.. I slightly modified an old CSS code that Lightning did for me for another sig I had.. She's really good at it!

Impo September 25th, 2011 2:08 AM

I remember when Alternative allowed me to join a collab, and then I made his CSS into a signature when I made a simisage/simisear/simipour signature.

Recycling old css is a nice way to begin understanding how the codes work and such

Signomi September 25th, 2011 2:19 AM

That's pretty much what I do!

Recycling old CSS gives me the benefit of learning how it works, but then again I don't do a lot of experimenting with it.

Impo September 25th, 2011 2:35 AM

I don't think learning css to make signatures is hard. It's fairly basic.
All I had to do was float tags, colour and a background image with rounded borders. And the size, but those are all incredibly simple (and I like the result)

Truality September 25th, 2011 3:16 AM

Ah, CSS. I heard it's easy to learn, but I never really bothered. I know it can produce beautiful results, yet I never made any by myself. I either requested or copied a sheet and altered it.

Impo September 25th, 2011 3:31 AM

I guess css isn't compulsory in anything, but it does look neat ^^

If you ever do that, you should send along a big piece of paper that says "I WONT TAKE YOU TO COURT IF YOU USE MY IDEA" ...because if you don't send a big and obvious disclaimer, it prevents them from ever seriously looking at your idea. Though usually most unsolicited ideas are simply tossed out.
I learned this nearly a decade ago when I thought all it took to have a card game made was to write up ideas and send them off and then wait for the check in the mail. Sadly, it never came. D:

Yeah, I pretty much started out recycling old CSS. I usually save most coding and old signatures on the notepad in the usercp, just in case I'd like to use an old layout or something. As long as you can get the hang of it, it'll get a little more easier, which is pretty much the same with anything.

Livewire September 25th, 2011 10:29 AM

I have to have some kind of template in front of me to do CSS. Like an old code, then I just make some tweaks and stuff. Otherwise, I have no idea what I'm doing. XD

You need an agent in order to send ideas to companies. They will not even read it or open the email without one. I don't understand why so many people don't read the company disclaimers regarding this.. because it's a huge legal liability on the companies' part.

I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you take the steps to do it properly. (If it's a script, join the writer's guild, etc.)
Do your research before sending anything.

And if you ask that question, you'll probably just get a pretty neutral response like "We have a large story team that works on it etc etc etc" Though it's always a battle between marketing and the production team.. marketers want something that'll sell "IE.. follow the trend" and production always want something new and better. Bringing fans in the mix would also bring a whole other level of chaos. Only very rarely would they ever do so.. and when they do it's usually an announcement (like the MyLittlePony thing they're doing.)

So yeah. If anything.. research before you post because the last thing you want is to be left hanging and wasting time.

DarkAlucard September 25th, 2011 3:23 PM

Good luck. You'll need it to make you listen / read by them.
