Does tauros count

What about Medusa? The Hydra? Cerberus? (Fluffy from harry Potter should count there)

Guillermo October 9th, 2011 8:34 AM

ah they're all lame, you want stuff like the charybdis and scylla and typhon.

Of course they do =]

My PnP game is based on Greek mythology. My favorite mythological creature is the Pegasus, reason is obvious.

Guillermo October 9th, 2011 8:51 AM

honestly i've been praying for a greek-mythology based game other than god of war for so long.
pegagus is pretty badass but again, nothing compares to typhon haha.

Just feed Fluffy some spicy Chipotle stuff. 8D

There's a turn based strategy game called Age of Mythology, based off the Age of Empires Games.

Mr Cat Dog October 9th, 2011 8:59 AM

OMG I LOVED AGE OF MYTHOLOGY SO MUCH!

Although I probably loved it so much because I just memorised the cheat codes and had all the gold and wood and god powers I wanted. This is probably why I shouldn't play video games.

Guillermo October 9th, 2011 9:01 AM

or feed fluffy deep heat~
yeah not a fan of age of mythology to be honest, hack and slash is by far better for mythology games imo.

GoW, though great and all, has some twisted version of Greek mythology. Not complaining about it, just saying. GoW is like a more friendly version of Prince of Persia to me.

Typhon as in the titan?

Oh I've been playing that FOR SO LONG. Age of Empires is my all-time favorite RTStrategy game, and AoM is pretty close.

Livewire October 9th, 2011 9:03 AM

I just heard of it, never played it. I preferred the regular age of empires games tbh.

correct, it's messed up, but it's a good game and it involves the gods and titans so it's got the general idea of greek mythology down, ahah.

no, typhon as in the giant snake/dog/person/monster thing the gods were scared of.

For me, Mythology >>>> Empires, at least from what I can remember. I think it was the ongoing storyline, as well as the general badass-ness having God powers that swung it for me. And the cheat codes, of course. Can't forget about good ol' cheating!

Ohhhhh, Canada.

It was a really entertaining game, plot sub-par as well. I loved the gameplay aspect of Hydra's heads. The more you own, the more you own.

@Guillermo lol I only know Typhon as a titan.

imo greek mythology is the most badass out of them all~ plus they make awesome food, so.

donavannj October 9th, 2011 9:28 AM

From the Age of Empires series, I prefer 2 with it's expansion pack, but that's primarily because 3 is a relative resource hog and doesn't run well on my laptop (it runs great on my desktop, but I'm lazy about playing it on there) and I lost my copy of Age of Mythology. I preferred Empire Earth and Empire Earth II because EE 1 had an era were you could fight with things that were robots and you could use atomic planes to nuke the hell out of your opponents and EE 2 had territory claiming to add a more challenging land grab aspect to the game (you could build buildings faster on your own territory than in neutral territory, but you could build faster in neutral territory than in enemy territory), and production cycling, which really aided me in learning how to better play an RTS.

And I actually got good at most of these RTSes without the help of cheat codes. I had a lot of fun with that Corvette in AoE 2, though.

So we're basically talking about the same Typhon. He's actually a titan, you know. And agreed about the food. ;D

Hahaha dat blue car...I still wonder if it shot gunpowder or explosive contacts.

Speaking of RTSes... my second favorite line is 'Total War'. Anyone played it or heard of it?

Mew~ October 9th, 2011 9:59 AM

/I know nothing of Greek Mythology. I didn't even watch Percy Jackson.

I like Unicorns though. n' Griffins. :)

Kevin October 9th, 2011 11:31 AM

I love Greek mythology. Anyone else read The Son of Neptune? ...Anyone?

And yeah Typhon isn't really a Titan, but is in the same generation as them. He is the last son of Gaea. He's the most deadliest monster the Olympians are afraid of (he isn't even dead; they couldn't kill him).

Esper October 9th, 2011 2:26 PM

I love me some Greek mythology. Sometimes I'll pick up my copy of Ovid's Metamorphoses, which in my view is the most interesting stuff because it deals with monsters 'n stuff, and read one of the stories.

Impo October 9th, 2011 2:30 PM

I find the whole concept of Greek Mythology exciting, but the most I've learned about it was watching Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.

I do know there was the big Zeus with lightning bolts he threw, and Medusa with scary hair, and Hades as the one who rules hell, and Posideon as the water one, and Wonder Woman is the strong fast female.

Mr Cat Dog October 9th, 2011 2:38 PM

Not having read/seen anything to do with Percy Jackson, my Greek mythology knowledge feels woefully inadequate to some of the posters here.

My brother has read The Iliad and The Odyssey and I keep telling myself I should... but I pick one of them up and take a look and put it back down and never look at it for a few months, whereupon the cycle repeats itself. I'd like to know more, but just taking that first step is the hardest thing.

DarkAlucard October 9th, 2011 2:40 PM

I learn a little about Greek Mythology with Saint Seiya XD

Her October 9th, 2011 2:40 PM

Oh Greek mythology <3
What I love about Greek mythology is that the people who worshiped the gods weren't afraid to admit that their deities were drunken arse's half the time, yet put full faith into them.

Someone is trying to subconsciously keep the trolling subject going. (It's Poseidon, Posideon is a greek a village I know that is famous for its srpings-was surprised you might mean that for a second)

I haven't watched Percy Jackson or whoever that is but I've watched that Battle of the Titans remake movie and well.. I was disappointed.

Not only that, they were all like "yeah the gods are selfish and vindictive and most of the time even worse than humans but they're still gods so we worship them so they don't smite us!"

So realistic.

Well, until Disney came along and changed that whole idea.
