Elite Overlord LeSabre™ November 17th, 2011 5:52 AM

I can't get by without grinding, to be honest. I like to dominate my Gym Leader battles.
Which is why I hated the experience system in B/W so much :/

And I usually do the whole "switch a member" thing about halfway through Leaf Green, when I finally start running into good flying Pokemon to replace Pidgeot.

Pixel! November 17th, 2011 7:12 AM

Well,I'm nobody without grinding.
I need to feel safe by being at least 5 levels ahead.
And as to hating BW Exp System,I never actually got a huge difference from the previous to this one ...

Ineffable~ November 17th, 2011 8:51 AM

I don't even really like levels to begin with. I prefer to dominate my gym battles with strength and tactics alone. :D
I mean, I understand levels have to exist in the game and I accept it, but it always bothers me when I have to level up over and over JUST to be able to have a fighting chance against a gym leader or the Elite Four when I know I could crack their skulls with no trouble if we started out even. I also don't like how the Battle Hall has levels and that in Generation V WiFi battles they don't put everyone's Pokémon at level 50. It's just, ugh pick on someone your own size. xDD

I use Pidgey as a slave, and if I just happen to pick out a better Flying-type later, then fantastic. :3 I don't always have an official Flyer on my team, in fact if you look back at the parties I posted, Dragonite's the only one that can Fly, and Dragonite and Quagsire are the only ones that can Surf, but neither of them ever at any point has known either of these moves. :P

I haven't grown much from my little kid teams except beyond "Blastoise at level 100 to kill everything". I still get the first Pokemon I like regardless of whether or not they're good haha. When I logged onto my Pearl for the first time in almost a year, I saw that I had caught a Kricketot and nicknamed it "Fu". xD

Nice name. :)

Did you noticed what level your starter was and how about legendaries?

It's nice to check Pokémon stats when you haven't played that game for long time. :)

Gotta check Pearl's Pokémon.

Truality November 17th, 2011 11:52 AM

Throughout my whole life I haven't trained more than 3 pokemon to level 100. I always believed it's not worth it, anyway.

Pixel! November 17th, 2011 1:57 PM

I don't really care about the "good/bad mon division" some people have,I just use the mons I want to use.
Tbh I think I might be falling out with Pokemon ...

I haven't even raised one, ever. At least not outside of Red Version where the Missingno cheat was my mistress. It just seemed like a lot of grinding for not a lot of pay-off.

Interestingly, I always thought levels in the 90s looked more powerful than Lv. 100. 100 seems too cliche lol

Khall November 17th, 2011 7:57 PM

Oh man, I remember my first level 100... Kit the Zangoose. I was super determined to get my first level 100 team, and I was just grinding through the E4 on Ruby over and over and over... then I traded them to my LeafGreen version for the boosted exp and did the same on there.

So my first level 100s were a Zangoose, Linoone, Altaria, Raichu, and Swampert. :3

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ November 18th, 2011 5:37 AM

My first batch of level 100s were whoever my first team on Blue was. I remember Blastoise, Persian, and Electrode were among them, but I don't remmeber the other three.

Ironically, on my latest Leaf Green run, I'm STILL using Blastoise, Persian, and Electrode :P

Neptune Vasilias November 18th, 2011 5:50 AM

I have never trained any Pokemon to Lv 100. I just don't have the time and patience to grind all the way. xD

Also, lol, I wonder whether how many are like me who gives weird random nicknames. For instance, I nicknamed my Ludicolo "Trololo". XD And in all games I play, all caught Magikarps are nicknamed with very weird names such as, "TacoBell", "FlipFlops", "Karby" etc x3

Pixel! November 18th, 2011 9:13 AM

Well, neither have I. I believe that you just have to level them up to the 80s tops,70s are okay too.
Anything bigger than that is considered ... too much unneeded effort.

Blizz November 18th, 2011 9:30 AM

I have always trained my starters at level 100. Torterra was first.

So I have/had lvl 100 Torterra/Samurott/Blaziken/Charizard/Typhlosion and also Kyurem though it's not starter.

Esper November 18th, 2011 1:25 PM

I can't even imagine how much time it would take to get one, let alone six pokemon to level 100. That is the kind of dedication I can't bring to a video game. Not even when I was first into pokemon and played it hour after hour.

Zeffy November 18th, 2011 9:54 PM

I have never tried to train my Pokemon to level 100. I'm content with just a small level of 80 or something lower. Besides, I don't have that much time to level up a Pokemon to that level!

Blizz November 18th, 2011 10:12 PM

In Black and White it's pretty easy to get Pokémon at level 100. ;)

But in Emerald it took long time.

Ineffable~ November 18th, 2011 10:39 PM

I can only recall two Pokémon that I've gotten to level 100 fully.
Lugia in Gold version and Blaziken in Sapphire.

Blaziken was always my token Pokémon in Sapphire. :3 <33

PlatinumDude November 19th, 2011 4:33 AM

The only Pokemon I ever got to level 100 was Swampert in Sapphire because I never learned to train other Pokemon.

vaporeon7 November 20th, 2011 5:16 AM

I used to be addicted to raising mine to lv100 in my Ruby, seeing that was all there was to do after the game. My first in that game was my Gorebyss, which is also my most valued Pokemon in all of my games ever.

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ November 20th, 2011 5:39 AM

I think in most of my games I've trained my main ingame team to level 100. Don't know why, I think it's just a force of habit... My SS team was the last ones to reach 100, as I couldn't be bothered with my (old) White to raise those guys.

Moltres Rider November 20th, 2011 3:40 PM

back in March of this year... I mentioned about my riding Moltres game I pretend to play while listening to my mp3 player... well, I want to update you on how that game has been playing out... as of stage 432 these are our stats (there are 2000 stages (levels) in all...) I try to implement the actual comparison of the Pokémon Moltres's HP vs a human's HP as our stats (mine & Moltres's)... although this is a different health system than the Pokémon games so the numbers are higher than in the Pokémon games...

Celestial Daze November 21st, 2011 1:38 AM

I have never maxed a Pokemon,
I'm just too lazy to do it,I guess ...

miltankRancher November 21st, 2011 1:49 AM

I always repeat the game once I finish the story or something, except for my second FR run. That I tried to finish the Pokedex, and max out my team.

Celestial Daze November 21st, 2011 7:34 AM

To be honest,I don't lie post-game very much, nor playing some games over and over again.
But some are good though ...

Mentalii November 21st, 2011 10:50 AM

It's really difficult to train a Pokémon 'till level 100.
As for me, I only train two Pokémon to the max level. An Espeon, in my Silver Version, but also, in my Sapphire version a ... Clamperl. Yes, keenly !
I know that seems so stupid, but I was young and I was waiting that it evolves in Gorebyss, I really wanted this Pokémon.
I gave it a DeepSeaScale. I was surprised not to see it evolving after level 60, but I wasn't despairing at all ! Anyway it would evolve sooner or later !
Not even... I'm frustrated for life :pink_cry:
