EXTREME slowness on PC!!!

PC has been running VERY slow yesterday and today... it is comparable to dial-up... wait, dial-up is faster than what PC is loading!!! the last couple of days, PC has been running SO SLOW you would think I'm having internet connectivity issues, but I'm not... please tell me what is going on an fix this extreme slowness issue!!!!

Oryx October 20th, 2011 1:06 AM

It happens. It's been on and off for me for the past couple hours, but it was fine almost all of today and yesterday so I don't think it's the site. Even when the site itself is slow, it has to do with how many people are on and the stress on the server which means unless you're planning on paying for the new server, we'll all just have to deal with slowness sometimes. :(

Rukario October 20th, 2011 1:14 AM

I've not seen any issues from the server's end.. everything has been running normally.

I'd like to see a tracert to pc when you are having issues, if at all possible.

Moltres Rider October 20th, 2011 1:19 AM

what is a tracert? I'm lost... and so is Firefox spell checker...

I've noticed PC being a bit slow at random times. But right now, it's going smooth~

Rukario October 20th, 2011 1:21 AM

its a way to trace the connection from you to the server.
In windows start > run (win7 search:) > cmd.exe >> tracert www.pokecommunity.com

In MacOS or linux, open up a terminal app and type in traceroute www.pokecommunity.com

copy / paste the results into your reply

Is this the sort of result you were expecting?

Moltres Rider October 20th, 2011 1:38 AM

Zeroblivion October 20th, 2011 1:40 AM

This problem didn't happen to me. It was pretty running normally, everything is just fine.
Woah, that came from the command prompt. Well, this is just kinda messed up.

looks like routing issues.. hop 4, 5, 7, and 8 are pretty bad.. nothing we can do here.. its something that your ISP's networking dept needs to address.

and they'll likely not bother... or even know what you're talking about if you call in to their normal support.

still, I wonder why you get such high end pings (124ish ms) from Chicago area to Houston.. Oh it's Frontier - oh well.

is it something that if I wait, it will be fixed? or am I screwed for now on?

Rukario October 20th, 2011 2:03 AM

It may or may not be fixed.. depends on if they notice it or not.. it could also be something temporary and will go back to normal at some point.

Thing is, it is out of all of our hands, and there isn't anything any of us can do (except suffer).

Lord Varion October 20th, 2011 3:42 AM

Pokécommunity is slow last night.
Mainly it's due to the amount of users the have on at one time.
Let's face it there is alot of users these days!

Kura October 21st, 2011 9:44 PM

It's actually SUPER slow most of the time for me.. especially when I post. I notice it on both of my computers.. it's a bummer but it's liveable.

echolocated October 21st, 2011 11:35 PM

PokeCommunity can become slow? That's odd. I haven't had any problems with the site.

EDIT: Not sarcasm.
EDIT: I just have a problem with posting a reply.

MuffinPaula October 22nd, 2011 6:59 AM

It happens to me but I don't mind it since my comp is very fast and it;s not like it super extra duper slow like our school computers =__=

can't tell if sarcasm.

PC has been running slowly for me for the past few days, but today it's been fine. Although 90% of the time posting a reply takes a while. Although I've learnt to deal with that. :) Maybe it's just bad internet being bad. :<

Mercurybro October 22nd, 2011 4:19 PM

I've always had a problem with connecting to vBulletin forums in general. And I've been in lots of different places so I know it's not just a local issue... xP

Cura October 22nd, 2011 4:32 PM

My connection is slow only on here from time to time, but I can still connect to the forums. It just takes a load of time for posts to be posted or to just view a thread.

EDIT: Okay, the forums are rarely even loading now for me.

Melody October 22nd, 2011 5:09 PM

I notice much of the same in lengthy load times here when viewing threads/blogs/profiles. And I'm behind a connection that usually varies from 512kbps to 2mbps. So I can usually tell when my connection is slow because there's a ton of folks online on campus and when it's the site.

Cordelia October 22nd, 2011 6:46 PM

I cannot even access PC from my IP, I have to use my proxy to get to it. I've tried different browsers... Firefox 7, Opera 11.52, latest Iron... different OSes... Linux, Windows XP, Windows 7... it just won't load on my IP! It sucks =(

I might be having a similar problem with my ISP modem reading the forum's IP address. I just has a test done with the modem and it's not the problem. It's something to do with the community forums' IP address.

Morgnarok October 23rd, 2011 9:02 AM

Pc runs slow from time to time when there are a lot of members online at once and it puts stress on the server. There is noting that can really be done about it unless Pc gets enough donations to upgrade its host. Unless you feel like donating some money and making that happen don't really complain about it.
