Pseudo-Habitat Challenge

Introductions

Okay,so most of you remember,or know the concept of the Habitat Challenge, right?
To those that don't, I'll remind you,
Quote:

FR/LG introduced Habitats, which were a conjunct of places, where Pokemon were most likely to live if they were real, or if the game wasn't based on routes.Later the Habitats helped to sort out the Pal Park Pokemon placement. This however was only implemented on FR/LG.
Since, this function as only implemented on FR/LG,Pokemon from Generations IV and V don't have an assigned habitat,so I decided to come up with the "Pseudo-Habitat Challenge!"

A few challenges, sorting Pokemon by appearance have already been done, but what i'm basically doing is sorting them by locations,I've thought of, like real life habitats, one Pokemon may be in more than one of those, this however, will be rare.

But before we proceed any further,we better take a look at the rules, shan't we?

Rules

1. All main PokeCommunity rules apply (i.e. No Spamming,No Flaming, etc.)
2. No cheating, the only instance hacking is accepted,is if you can't get a Pokemon of your area before the second gym,and if it's a pain to catch (Abra, for example) we can sort it out
3. If you can only catch one,or two pokemons on your version, that matches the terms, you may hack enough for a team of 3 with 2 badges intervals.
4. Trading is allowed only for substituting the above scenario,or evolving pokemon.
5. You can do an Ultimate, i.e.: Do a run using the same requirements through all games. At the moment, BW isn't needed, but it would be appreciated.
6. Have fun.

The Groups

Some groups, due to extension will have subgroups, to sort them further. Also, let be known that just because one Pokemon is on a group,it doesn't mean that its /pre-evolution/evolution(s)/alt. forms have to also be on that group.

Some Pokemon can be suited on a certain area, for it's possible use instead of its form. For example, Cacturne on a farm, since it's a scarecrow, or Seadra on a garden,as it can be used as a watering "can".Use your imagination.

Lezza November 8th, 2011 11:04 PM

Ill do Pearl and Field....

miltankRancher November 8th, 2011 11:33 PM

hmmm... Is this a viable challenge to add to my two running challenges? it seems interesting though...

I'll do a Diamond City/ Animals. (Does that mean I cannot use Lucario since he is in the City/ Humanoids group?

.: Symbiosis :. November 9th, 2011 1:11 AM

Adding the two of you, technically Lucario is an animal,I put him in Humanoids because he does resemble humans a lot,so yeah you can you use it ^_^

While i'm at it,criteria for sorting for the curious:

Gardens: Be a plant, or a helpful bug(butterfly and bee) + Horsea/Seadra
Graveyard: Some humanoids that could weep, some ground types for gravekeepers and ghosts and dark
City: Man-shape,animals(Bugs,normal animals and pets) and objects/food.
Laboratory: Artificial lifeforms that aren't mythical(ex.: Geodude,Onix) and fossils.
Rainforest: ... animal based pokemon that could live on a rain forest + sudowoodo(complete plant)
Farm: Pokemon that could live in a farm, and foxes that sneak in to steal chickens ^_^
Field: POkemon that only fit on a savannah or grassy area.
Vlahalla: Mythical pokemons(Dragons)

miltankRancher November 9th, 2011 1:33 AM

Ok. I am changing. I will use my platinum since I cannot find my Diamond Rom. :))

I have a question. i will be starting out as a Turtwig, then play until I get my eevee in eterna. When can I trade in (or hack in) another eevee?

.: Symbiosis :. November 9th, 2011 1:44 AM

You can't, as you can get Starly,Staravia,Staraptor,Shinx,Luxio,Glameow,Purugly,Chatot,Riolu,Croagunk,Toxicroak,Finneon,Lumineon

Rounding up to Staraptor,Luxio,Purugly,Chatot,Lucario ...,Toxicroak and Lumineon.
Which are more than 5,leaving you enough options,so sorry but you can't hack another Eevee.

miltankRancher November 9th, 2011 1:58 AM

Is Luxray included in the CIty/ Animals? I see Shinx and luxio, but no Luxray.

.: Symbiosis :. November 9th, 2011 2:01 AM

That's because Luxray is too big ... And is based on lion/tiger/whatchacallit.

tachikaze316 November 9th, 2011 2:03 AM

Sign me up!

I'll do a Rainforest Ultimate. Fire Red, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum and Black.

Also, just wondering...is breeding allowed?

Oh, and is there a minimum team size?

miltankRancher November 9th, 2011 2:06 AM

Ok, got it. Going to start now.

Torterra
Lucario
Togekiss
Lumineon
Espeon
HM Slave.

let's rock

.: Symbiosis :. November 9th, 2011 6:14 AM

@tachikaze316 NO,no team limit, and if the baby (or a branch evolution) fits the requirements yes,but if only the evolution you already have, only if you want dupes

@miltankRancher G'luck then

tachikaze316 November 9th, 2011 6:22 PM

Okay then. Thanks.

Fire Red Update #2

-Beat up the grunt in the backyard of the house behind the gym, got TM28
-Fought my way down to Vermillion City
-Battled everyone on the SS Anne, curb stomped Gary.
-Got Cut, taught it to a HM slave.
-Headed into the gym.

-Went to Celadon City, got Tea
-Got TM29 from Saffron City, taught it to Papillon
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/Paymaster/Pseudo-Habitat%20Challenge/Pokemon-FireRed_02-1.png
-Rushed through the Rocket Hideout in Celadon, beat Giovanni, got the Silph Scope
-Beat Team Rocket up in Pokemon Tower, got the Pokeflute
-Went south and got the super rod, fished up Dwayne the Poliwhirl just north of Vermillion City (Get it? Because Dwayne Johnson's a wrestler and Dwayne sounds kinda like drain)
-Got TM13 in the game corner, taught it to Dwayne.
-Bought a water stone and evolved Dwayne.
-Dwayne beat most of the Celadon Gym.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/Paymaster/Pseudo-Habitat%20Challenge/Pokemon-FireRed_03-1.png
-But Erika was a team effort. I didn't actually lose anyone during the match, I just figured "she has three pokemon, I have three pokemon, why not match them up one on one?"

Current Team:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/Paymaster/Pseudo-Habitat%20Challenge/Pokemon-FireRed_01-1.pnghttp://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/Paymaster/Pseudo-Habitat%20Challenge/Pokemon-FireRed_05-1.pnghttp://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/Paymaster/Pseudo-Habitat%20Challenge/Pokemon-FireRed_04-1.png

I think I might just stick with these three for this game. I can probably get pretty good type coverage out of them.

.: Symbiosis :. November 10th, 2011 2:07 AM

@j_Woo Yes,you can

Yay,this is getting popular!

I'm not dead yet,I'll soon update ;P

Fire Red Update #3:

-Ran down to Fuschia City
-Got Surf and the Warden's teeth from the Safari Zone
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/Paymaster/Pseudo-Habitat%20Challenge/Pokemon-FireRed_02-2.png
-Smashed Koga
-Went back to Saffron City
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/Paymaster/Pseudo-Habitat%20Challenge/Pokemon-FireRed_01-2.png
-Cleared Team Rocket out of Silph Co.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/Paymaster/Pseudo-Habitat%20Challenge/Pokemon-FireRed_02-3.png
-Swept Sabrina's team. She got one turn during the fight, and wasted it on Calm Mind.
-Because I'm too lazy to catch a fly slave, ran to Vermillion City, bought repels and went through Diglett's Cave
-Surfed down to Cinnibar Island.
-Went through the mansion and got the key to the gym.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/Paymaster/Pseudo-Habitat%20Challenge/Pokemon-FireRed_06-1.png
-Y'know how he says "don't waste it (Fire Blast) on an aquatic pokemon"? Guess what all the damage Dwayne took came from.
-Ran/surfed to Viridian City
-Went to the gym, beat the "You must be running out of steam" guy first...like I always do, his placement seems to suggest he's meant to be fought first, but his dialogue suggests he should be fought after a bunch of others, what's up with that?
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/Paymaster/Pseudo-Habitat%20Challenge/Pokemon-FireRed_07.png
-Beat Giovanni easily.

Current Team:

Team if cant Trade:Lopunny, Girafarig, Azurmarril, Clefable, Ursaring, Donphan.
Alot of Normal types

.: Symbiosis :. November 12th, 2011 5:10 AM

Heh,Field are normal types mostly
And no,you can't trade, sorry. You can catch 3 or more FE in your game.

j_Woo November 13th, 2011 7:14 PM

sorry if my questions are getting annoying, but can you add mankey and primape to savannah. i mean it makes sense and also i am basically solo running with nidorino :P

.: Symbiosis :. November 14th, 2011 1:40 AM

Why?
Honestly I can't see monkeys on a savannah.
You can use NidoranF, and after Brock , Clefairy,Clefable,Jigglypuff,Wigglytuff,
And after Misty, skipping gyms to Fuschsia, you get Rhyhorn,Rhydon,

j_Woo November 14th, 2011 4:35 AM

its yellow so you cant catch jigglypuff and clefairy till route 5 but its ok i'll just stick with nidorino for now

HannahB123 November 14th, 2011 5:49 PM

Ok I really would like to join this! Deciding which game to do it on is what's got me stuck. I haven't beaten White yet, so I won't use that one, but the other games I have are:
Red, Sapphire, Leaf Green, Diamond, Platinum, Soul Silver. ( I have Ruby as well, but the internal battery is dead, so I've got to wait to play it until I replace it.) So anyone have a suggestion on which game to do it on?
(I don't know how to do the screenshots like a previous poster did from my DS, but I can post detailed accounts of how I'm doing.)

EDIT: Alright, I've decided to shoot for an ultimate:
Instead of doing it in the above order, I'll be doing it in this order, leaving off the original red.
Leaf Green, Soul Silver, Platinum, White (Once I beat it)
I choose to do Rainforest.
:D Off I go to start up with Leaf Green!

First Little bit:

Hello! My Name is Hannah! Today I start my pokemon journey!
http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa403/Jess_Beauregard/130px-01770157-Leaf.png
I got my potion from storage, then walked around town looking for Professor Oak. Just as I was about to step onto route 1, he stopped me and took me back to his lab to pick a pokemon!
It was a hard decision, but in the end, I got the cutest little female Squirtle, and named her Bubbles!
http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa403/Jess_Beauregard/pokemon_squirtle2.gif
My fellow pokemon trainer, and rival, Gary, chose a Bulbasaur. Before I could leave the lab to begin my journey, he decided he wanted to battle.
http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa403/Jess_Beauregard/130px-02430215-Blue.png
I won! It was a tough battle, but Bubbles came through for me!
Afterwards it was only a short walk to Viridian City, but the Poke Mart attendant needed me to run a package back to Prof. Oak.
I delivered it, of course, and received a pokedex and five pokeballs for my trouble! I left again, stopping only to grab a town map from Gary's sister, and by the time I reached Viridian City again, Bubbles was up to level 8! We took a quick rest at the pokemon center, and shot over to route 22, just west of town. There was a small grassy area where mankey and spearow were rumored to hide! It was true! With Bubbles by my side, we managed to catch ourselves a sweet little boy Mankey, which I named Spunky! --What can I say, he had spunk! After healing up and running through the grass on Rt 22 a little more, we ran across a male spearow. After a hard battle, I caught him, and his name is now Spike! (Original, I know.)
Hannah's team now:
http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa403/Jess_Beauregard/pokemon_squirtle2.gif http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa403/Jess_Beauregard/pokemon_mankey.gif http://i1196.photobucket.com/albums/aa403/Jess_Beauregard/pokemon_spearow.gif
Now we're off for Viridian Forest!

~~Edit: Scratch that, we'll just say Hannah's spending the night at the Pokemon Center, so she'll be rested for the forest! IE: I'm going to bed now.. :D Hopefully someone will have posted some of their challenge by tomorrow when I get on here, I'm really enjoying this! The challenge really makes it more exciting! ~~

.: Symbiosis :. November 15th, 2011 4:22 AM

@j_Woo you can catch Celfairy at Mt.Moon

@Hannah good luck but you forgot to tell your Gen III game

HannahB123 November 15th, 2011 6:29 AM

Oops, I guess I did! Sapphire is supposed to be listed in there! It's in my signature though. :D Thanks for pointing that out!
> Oh, and I so wish Pikachu was a rainforest P/H pokemon. It's always been on of my favorites! But, I can make do! <

Ok, well something is apparently wrong with my leaf green, it keeps freezing at random times, and I have to turn my DS lite on and off and start back from my latest save point. Once I replace the internal batteries in my GBA games (LG, R &S) I'll start on the challenge! My apologies! Should do that this weekend!

-Well...that was all disappointingly easy.
-Oh...and I beat Gary again too...he's still not worth screenshotting.

Final(?) Team:

Solid: While his stats are far from amazing and he doesn't actually learn any decent poison type moves by level up, that intimidate ability, earthquake and rock slide have been very useful.

Papillon: As one might expect from a bug in the Viridian Forest, he kinda fell behind after a while. However unlike the last time I used a bug, he never fell into the role of "sleep powder and switch out", possibly because I had fewer team members this time.

Dwayne: MVP. The diversity in his moveset was incredibly useful, even if his special attack was somewhat lacking. Most of Lorelei's team fell in a single brick break.

So, I guess I'm done with Fire Red. Unless I have to do the Sevii Islands stuff too.
