Seasons in Unova

In Black & White, we see the seasons change in Unova. A first for the main series games.

And remember the Normal/Grass deer Pokemon, Deerling and Sawsbuck?

They are famous for changing appearance every season.

Here's some questions regarding the seasons.

What is your favorite season in B/W?

What is your favorite form of Deerling and Sawsbuck?

Do you like the aesthetic changes in some areas during different seasons (Icirrus City, Twist Mountain etc)?

Do you like the introduction of seasons in the games?

Do you think seasons make Unova look realistic?

Do you think seasons make Unova look realistic?

Yes, I am very glad they finally did it, it makes it seem so great to have seasons changed and stuff and with the deerling changing with the seasons was a great idea too!

Do you think seasons make Unova look realistic?

As I said above, I really think they do. It puts the real world aspect into a game and it's amazing we get to experience each season 3 times a year in Unova. I really do love that they added this to the game to make it even better
.

Ho-Oh November 21st, 2011 10:24 PM

My favourite season was hmmmm actually probably Winter because it looks so pretty and has all these extra effects. As for my favourite form, the spring one, definitely. Pink ftw, but for Mebu--Sawsbuck, definitely the Winter one, it looks so in fashion.

Yeah I like the changes but I wish they would affect more than just those places and I wish they affected your home town too. :x Um, I don't think it makes Unova more realistic though, more interesting, sure, but I'm Australian, so snow makes it LESS realistic. XD

Maple Leaf November 22nd, 2011 5:19 PM

Winter was my favorite season, although I didn't like not being able to battle Cynthia. :x I haven't really paid attention to Deerling and Sawsbuck's forms, but NidoJosh's post with the sprites makes me want to say winter. :3

The changes were a good idea. Even the lack of availability of some Pokemon during Winter was cool. I don't think being realistic is all too important, buuuut I guess it adds to how "realistic" Unova is.

Yes. Yes I do. It actually doesn't look the same all year round, and changes the game's landscape four times a year. It just helps me from getting bored from seeing the same green leaves and usual weather.

Black and White did a good one at that, so I must say yes.

Yes. Yes it does. To me, it adds some kind of different atmosphere to the game, and makes it more realistic in that only some pokemon appear so and so in these seasons.

Kaleidoscop November 24th, 2011 7:21 PM

My favorite season (in both Pokemon and in real life) are Spring and Summer. Out of the two, I prefer Spring slightly more (in real life, I love the month of May more than any month. In fact, May of 1999 was when I first became a Pokemon trainer (with Red) plus May is warm but not too hot).

I like all forms of Deerling and Sawsbuck, but I prefer Spring (Pink form) the most.

My least favorite season (in both PKMN and IRL) is Winter. I hate that you can't buy a Casteliacone in Winter. This coming Tuesday is the last time I can buy one for a while cause it's Winter in December and back to Spring in January.

Do you like introduction of seasons in the games?
- Yes I do. They were great addition and I like all kinds of additions. ^^

Do you think seasons make Unova look realistic?
- Off course.

Yoshikko November 26th, 2011 4:54 AM

What is your favorite season in B/W?
Probably spring

What is your favorite form of Deerling and Sawsbuck?
I like Summer Deerling the best, and Spring Sawsbuck

Do you like the aesthetic changes in some areas during different seasons (Icirrus City, Twist Mountain etc)?
Yeah I think it's a nice addition, but it wasn't really that necessary, I don't really pay attention to it.

Do you like the introduction of seasons in the games?
I don't know, I thought all the daytimes were fine, the seasons are a little chaotic imo.

Do you think seasons make Unova look realistic?
Not really lol

I like Winter xD

Winter form :P

No I don't ;_;

Yeah it's pretty cool.

Yes it does :P

Palladium November 28th, 2011 12:39 PM

Well, I love all seasons mainly because they add a sense of realism to the game. Generation II gave us time, so it was long before seasons came along; I loved how the mechanics worked, using the DS calendar, as this made switching seasons easy.

If I was to pick a season,it would be Winter, as, to me, it conveys itself properly, like how snow can change the geography of a place. And I also love Deerling/Sawsbuck Winter Form, they're cute.

Thrash November 28th, 2011 2:09 PM

What is your favorite season in B/W?
I love winter. The addition of snow in Gen. IV made me so happy! So when it's winter in Unova, it's mandatory to go find some snow and run around in it. The only thing is that my cute little female protagonist must get cold running around in those short-shorts.

What is your favorite form of Deerling and Sawsbuck?
Spring! I love pretty pink Deerlings and the Sawsbucks' antlers littered with little flowers. Haru, my boy Sawsbuck, only comes out when it's spring because he looks too adorable with flowers to not be covered in flowers, ya'know?

Do you like the aesthetic changes in some areas during different seasons (Icirrus City, Twist Mountain etc)?
Indeed I do, though I wish there was more.

Do you like the introduction of seasons in the games?
I love it! And I like how it cycles every month, instead of having to wait four months for each new season. And how the winter season falls strategically on December.

Do you think seasons make Unova look realistic?
I wouldn't say realistic, but they definitely add substance. I just wish the player's outfit cycled with the seasons. Like, shorts during the summer, but a nice warm coat during the winter.

The Nightmare November 28th, 2011 7:56 PM

What is your favorite season in B/W?
Spring and winter.
What is your favorite form of Deerling and Sawsbuck?
Spring form.
Do you like the aesthetic changes in some areas during different seasons (Icirrus City, Twist Mountain etc)?
yeah, but they should have added snowmans or something.
Do you like the introduction of seasons in the games?
yeah.
Do you think seasons make Unova look realistic?
not really, because they normally change seasons in one month or so which isn't that realistic.

Hikamaru November 30th, 2011 4:41 PM

My fave season is probably summer cos the background is so nice in summer.

I like summer Deerling and winter Sawsbuck.

The aesthetic changes were amazing, especially snow patches in Mistralton City, Driftveil City and Routes 6 & 7 during winter.

I like the seasons being a feature in Pokemon games, gives you a different experience every time.

I think the seasons make Unova look so real in terms of environment.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of winter cos you can't evolve Eevee into Glaceon during winter and also some areas have hail meaning you need Ice-type Pokemon to get through easily.

Thankfully, I imported an Eevee and evolved him into Glaceon during summer (I imported the other Eeveelutions via Poke Transfer).

But I do like my Sawsbuck when she's in her Winter Form with that beautiful white fur.

As for the Casteliacone, the reason it's only sold in warmer months is because ice cream in reality is at its sales peak in warm months (in fact, it's summer in my home country of Australia right now).

At least winter is a great time to train Ice-type Pokemon.

hinkage November 30th, 2011 4:59 PM

I like the seasons, but I wish they would correspond with the real seasons. It would make the special map/music changes even more special, since they would only be once a year.

That's my only complaint.

sherreamethyst December 10th, 2011 10:09 AM

What is your favorite season in B/W?
-My favorite is Autumn, mainly because I love Fall colors.

What is your favorite form of Deerling and Sawsbuck?
-I don't really like Deerling or Sawbuck. But I guess it would the Autumn one because of the pretty colors.

Do you like the aesthetic changes in some areas during different seasons (Icirrus City, Twist Mountain etc)?
-Oh yes! I think it's cool how in the winter in Icirrus City, the little lake/puddle things get frozen over, and you can just slide across. It's really neat, and Twist Mountain I believe was only fun in the Winter. It's really complicated, so I decided to go through it in the winter, that way it's easier for me.

Do you like the introduction of seasons in the games?
-Mhmmm! They're wonderful!

Do you think seasons make Unova look realistic?
-Yes! I really hope they continue the seasons thing into the next game! I'll be sad if they don't!
