[Escavalier] vs Accelgor
Black and White Weekly Poll #5: Escavalier vs Accelgorhttp://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/c/c0/589Escavalier_Dream.png http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/0/0a/617Accelgor_Dream.png This BW Weekly Poll pits two of the coolest Bug Types in Unova against each other, Escavalier and Accelgor. Quick facts on Escavalier:
Quick facts on Accelgor:
credz to karp |
I just love ninjas, so my vote was for Accelgor
|
I haven't used either of these, but I really dislike the design of Accelgor and think Escavalier's is pretty cool. Plus his name draws from French knights which is also cool. So yeah go Escavalier :3
|
Accelgor's head looks like a brain which is ugly so I'm voting for Escavalier. o3o;
|
Accelgor is too frail for my liking. Escavalier is just great with Megahorn, Iron Head, and its defenses. Plus it evolves from the awesome Karrablast, which is a fun False Swiper for in game.
|
Escavalier since it's Bug/Steel unlike Accelgor and Accelgor's Bug Moves will definitely have no match for Escavalier's typing.
|
Accelgor definitely. I love his Speedy personality, and I love ninjas. So accelgor.
also, he is the fastest non-legendary spiker. |
Since my brother hasn't got White yet, I can't get an Accelgor or Escavalier yet so I haven't experienced using them.
But in the Battle Subway, I usually get paired with Hilbert in the Battle Subway and I've seen him using these two. So if I had to choose, it would be Escavalier. |
In terms of Movepool, they have both been neglected by Game Freak. Escavalier could have done with Bullet Punch or Sucker Punch. Even Brick Break or Night Slash would have need nice. That said, it's doing better than Accelgor. With little-to-no support moves it can't cripple anything that resists Bug and maybe Fighting. Which is a big chunk of the available Pokemon.
Both would have awesome potential, but Escavalier wins on the appearance and power grounds. Accelgor is more original, but falls short on every other front. Vote: Escavalier http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/589.gif |
I really want to say both but if I had to choose it's probably be Accelgor due to the Hydration ability and I like the design a bit more TBH.
|
Argh, that was a tough choice, but I went with Escavalier because it's a freakin' knight bug and has a very strong Megahorn to make up for its lacking move pool. Accelgor still comes in close for an equally cool design, high Speed and a bit more of a move pool than Escavalier.
|
I chose Accelgor. Dude is a ninja, that makes him an instant badass.
This is my post for the 27th November, Kaori. |
I voted for Escavalier.
I've never used either of them, but going off looks I'd say Escavalier. Plus I like the whole knights theme going on there. |
Yuk, both are really awful I think. When I see Pokémon like that I'm depressed: Pokémon will never be the same again. :pink_frown:
The good point I give them is the way that Karrablast and Shelmet evolve into them, it's original and innovative ! So between Escavalier and Accelgor... I gonna choose the first one. Accelgor isn't tough at all, Escavalier isn't really tough neither but it gave me some difficulties somtimes, so I conclude it's better. Plus, at design, I prefer Escavalier, the other one is too strange, I can't really picture it. |
Looks-wise, definitely Escavalier. And actually battle-wise I'd probably pick Escavalier too. Only one weakness (albeit a double weakness to Fire) and lots of resistances due it's Steel typing.
I don't have either on Black, though. |
Accelgor for the win! :D
With U-Turn, Me First, Giga Drain and Bug Buzz he is a very strong member of my team. And he is not weak, at all... And you can be sure to attack first almost all the time :D |
Not really fond of either, but I picked Escavalier solely based on looks and typing. Dat bug/steel. Plus those little pointed things look like peppermint sticks and I really like peppermint sticks.
|
I've used Escavalier in a challenge before. Escavalier's high attack stat makes up for his 4x weakness to Fire, and low speed. Accelgor may have high speed, but he doesn't have a very impressive offensive stat, nor any way to boost it.
|
I really love both. D:
Escavalier is really awesome, and I enjoy its design too. I feel the exact same way about Accelgor though. D: Plus they're both Bug-types. dfjnbsdhfjbsdfgb UGH. I guess I choose Accelgor, mainly because of its slick appearance. |
Although Accelgor is based on a ninja (which are totally awesome), I can't help but feel myself drawn to Escavalier. It just appeals to me more, to be hoenst. So tha's who I am voting for. :)
|
Escavalier for me as I love its design from the first time I see it XD
Accelgor is cool too but it is just not my type lol |
Escavalier for the win. Accelgor looks really dumb, and plus I have an epic experience with Escavalier. It was my first shiny in B/W.
|
ESCAVALIER. <3
Really I don't have anything else to say, lol. It was my initial favorite of BW, and probably still is in my top 3. I wish it were easier to get/train in-game but it's still really awesome and fabulously bulky and strong. 8D |
Ugh, I remember when this was asked in PG and I struggled to come up with an answer then. Apart from Heracross/Volcarona, I just don't do Bug types. I don't care for any of these critters' designs. None of their movepools appeal. Gun to head, I'd go with Accelgor as it's apparently super-speedy, which is a plus with me. But I really don't care for either of them.
|
Has to be Escavalier for me.
http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/589.gif Having not used any of these I looked up their sets on smogon. Accelgor boasts a spikes set and a life orb set. With terrible defences I doubt Accelgor could get more then two layers down. There are much better spikers out there. While Escavalier has a choice band set with a mean attack stat to back it up. Maybe he could work well under a trick room? Anyway both Pokemon seem to have been screwed over a tad with their movepools but yeah my vote is for Escavalier |
First off, metal/bug type is great! Only one weakness, fire, and a whole bunch of resistances (9, to be exact, plus one immunity). Bug types have three weaknesses and three resistances.
Also, Escavalier may have a high attack base stat, but he also has very high defense and special defense stats (105 each). Accelgor may have speed, and a decent special attack, but it very vulnerable with its weak defense. Now, let's look at the designs. I will base them off the BW sprites: http://pldh.net/media/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/589.gif http://pldh.net/media/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_animated_front/617.gif Accelgor just lacks concept clarity; I don't get ninja at all from the sprite. It looks like it is a straight-jacket without legs, and then a red/green snail shell on its head, that has what appears to be a black crack the front of the shell? Escavalier has a great design! He has the knights helmet with a jutting steel jaw, and he has two jousts for arms; underneath it all, you can still see the Karrablast-like face. I also love the red stripes along the lances. This was by far the easiest poll for B/W! I chose....Escavalier! |
Knight bug is way cooler than ninja bug.
Only because knights are better ninjas. |
I used Escavalier through out my playthrough and was quite fond of it's high attack power. And the design is more appealing then the "supposed" ninja looking bug of Accelgor. I have yet to use Accelgor so I really can't speak to how it is battle wise, but the design and typing have something life to be desired. Much like Druddigon the head color seems to conflict with the rest of the bodies color. Although I do like Druddigon a good deal more then Accelgor. And I was hoping the typing would have been Bug/Ghost or Bug/Dark not the generic Bug.
|
Although I've never used either,
I'm picking Escavalier, mainly because I like it's typing, stats and design better |
I would have to go with... Escavalier. Never used either, but I've had tougher experiences with Escavalier than I've had with Accelgor. Plus, I don't understand Accelgor's design as well as Escavalier's.
|
In terms of competitive battling definitely Escavalier.
In terms looks and designs also Escavalier. Because lets face it Accelgor just looks plain creepy while Escavalier is a freakin Knight! |
Uuuuuh if I had to choose one I think I'll choose Accelgor. I don't like knights at all and I love ninjas, and he's a cute snail kind of thing.
|
Escavalier, accelgor is too frail for my liking.
Plus knights are cooler than ninjas :D |
I dislike both of these. The designs creep me out, frankly, and I think I would avoid both of them for that reason. So... I abstain?
|
I'd have to go with Accelgor since I like the design concept better than Escavalier's. I haven't used any of the two within the games but I'd probably lean towards having Accelgor on my team more. Don't get me wrong though, Escavalier is awesome.
|
I never used one of them other than receiving it after trading with my friends to evolve one. I'm going to have to lean over towards Escavalier side because of it's wicked design.
:t354:TG |
I go with Escavalier. It have better use competitively, most in the Trick Room teams. Also he have better defences, which is good to kill oponents. If I need a fast Bug, I might chose Scolipede or Ninjask.
|
I love ninjas, but Escavalier is just so much of a BAMF I couldn't not vote for it. Its typing is meh and its Speed is worse - I'd never train one myself as I have no patience for anything with such limited sweeping capability, lmao - but I do love its design and concept. Accelgor's pretty neat too, to be honest. I'll still take Escavalier, though.
|
Escavlier. So cool and powerful. :P
|
If I really liked Attack that much, I would choose Escavalier. But honestly, I like hitting fast and hard. Accelgor's Speed and Sp. Atk cover that.
Vote: Accelgor. P.S. For the longest time...I thought Accelgor evolved into Escavalier. Then did research. |
Escavalier. <3
Accelgor is cool too, though. But I love Escavalier's design much more. |
I say Escavalier. Accelgor may be very speedy but is weak in physical defense. Escavalier can learn Aerial Ace and I think is the strongest Bug type in physical attack. An Aerial Ace from an Escavalier will take down Accelgor (maybe instantly).
|
I picked Escavalier because he was my favorite pokemon for a while.
Also, just wanted to point something out. In the OP, you said Accelgor is the fastest of all Bugs. That's actually Ninjask. |
Quote:
The strongest physical bug type move is Megahorn (excluding Fury Cutter's potential) |
I think Escavalier has won by a landslide. Great Attack stat + single weakness for the win!
|
Indeed, although I didn't vote, I'm pretty sure I'd have voted for Escavalier. Unstickying & making winner stand out. Ya'll are free to continue to post! Oh, and Kaori should have the next poll up soon. :)
|
Escavalier just looks so damn cool :D
So he's got my vote all the way :D |
I prefer Accelgor personally. I like the idea of how it's a ninja bug and it's awesome speed stat. I do like Escavalier, but not as much as Accelgor. It was also the first Pokemon I EV trained in Unova.
|
It's a close call between those two, but I'm going to choose Accelgor because it's a ninja. 8)
|
I love Escavalier, Accelgor is OK I guess, just not really my thing.
|
I don't know but i like accelgor a lot more.
|
That's a good one and a tough one, they're both equally good in general, I really don't know, probally escavalier just because I'm currently training one.
|
Knights vs. Ninjas? Aww, what happened to the old Pirates vs. Ninjas? Just kidding.
I chose Escavalier because I think its design was pretty cool; I wanted one as soon as I saw the artwork & sprites of it before the game came out. Even though if it has horrible luck with fire types, it has a lot of defenses to it along with its attack in its arsenal. Sure, Accelgor can be way faster than Escavalier, but it's pretty fun to have a jousting knight in your team kicking butt. No offense to Accelgor fans, though. |
I love both of these two, Escavalier is one of the first B/W designs I fell in love with instantly, over time I warmed up to Accelgor.
I would have to go with Escavalier, as I prefer attack over special attack.. wouldn't count Accelgor out though. Two awesome bug types. |
It doesn't make any sense to me that Shelmet evolves into Accelgor and Karrablast evolves into Escavalier; I understand that there is a Karrablast inside the Escavalier, but Shelmet is such an obvious predecessor to him.
I think it would be more appropriate if Shelmet + Karrablast evolved into Escavalier and Accelgor was a stand alone Pokemon, but obviously, such things do not exist within the rules of Pokemon (except in the case of Regigigas using special rules). At first I liked Accelgor more, but then Escavalier grew on me, but ultimately I had to acknowledge that I like Accelgor more by far. Obviously he serves a sort of specialty purpose, who is best used wasting other Pokemon's high speed scores by having a higher speed score; with only four bug type moves though, most of them weak or physical, his bug type is wasted, without other special bug type moves like Signal Beam or Silver Wind. I think the design on both of them is pretty poor, for example, Escavalier is full of flinch moves, which only really makes sense in a Trick Room set-up, which is an ability that he doesn't possess; the gameplay is just too cheeky for me to admire. |
Although I really like both, I will choose Escavalier because I like knights more than Ninjas.
:P |
Although I'm currently training Accelgor, I'll have to go with Escavalier. Cooler design, and better movepool.
|
Accelgor is one of the rare decent pure bug-types, and I already prefer Scizor for the bug-steel combo.
|
Escavalier always appealed to me. It was on my team! It reminds me of a jouster because of those sword hand things! I was always fascinated by medieval times, so therefore, because of that, I prefer Escavalier.
