I read in an interview with the creators in which they said that the whole of the final season is just going to concentrate on Robin and Barney's wedding weekend and nothing else. To which I say:
|
Yeah the interviews do strongly hint that and it would probably leave a very, very disappointing final season.
They'd need some genius writing to fix that idea. |
So, I'm guessing no end point on Ted's story? What a blasphemous notion!

"Kids, the following takes place between 8 AM and 9 AM..." I actually wouldn't hate that My biggest concern for the final season is whether or not the series will be super literal with its title and Ted doesn't meet the wife until the very last episode. I'd understand that we're left to believe they get together and have kids, but after nearly ten years, you want to see what leads to them getting together. Quote:

How the hell are they going to cram an entire season into one weekend? Unless Robin happens to be some bridezilla or something, I don't think there would be anywhere enough room for a decent plot let alone cliffhangers or whatever. I just want the show to end already :///

Only one more season, Chris. Only one more season. Then it's all over!

Since there is no Eurovision thread this year, I'm going to say here that Greece and Italy's entries were amazing and they deserved something more than 6th and 7th (I think).
|
Italy's was terrible. Just some random guy in a suit with no staging and a boring ballad. Greece, on the other hand, should have been the deserved winners. I'll give you that much! Alcohol, alcohol, alcohol is free!

What has Denmark ever done ever?

Wow, I'm blown away by The Great Gatsby. The yarn was eloquently animated and Toby McGuire and Leonardo DiCaprio were amaaaazing! Of course, I can't help but spit at the exaggeration of the extravagance of the 1920s and all of their Flapper goodness. I mean, parties back then weren't as buck wild as the movie made them out to be, I'm sure. That and the overuse of special effects in the first twenty-thirty minutes of the movie was disappointing, but the intensity of the rest of the movie made up for every wrongdoing.
Anyone else seen it yet? :D |

And while on the subject, Hannibal possibly not getting renewed has me so disappointed with the television public. I mean, it's basically a police procedural mixed with the violence of any popular HBO show from the last few years. Those things by themselves can ensure a show's survival so why... so why... why? |
I'm still yet to watch that!! Explain to me what it's about, is it about the possibly infinite amount of events that happened before his time with Jodie Foster? His time after?
|
Hannibal takes place before Silence of the Lambs and also before Red Dragon (but not as far back as Hannibal Rising), back when no one knew what Hannibal was and he was still a psychiatrist. At least that's where the show is right now. I've heard the guy in charge would like to go through all the books, introduce Clarice and the other characters who come later on. Right now the main characters are Will Graham and Jack Crawford, as well as some minor characters from the Red Dragon book who've been given expanded roles and some new characters.
It's really a good show if you enjoyed the movies. Mads gives Anthony Hopkins a run for his money in the creepy department. That's thanks in part to some clever editing and lots of food porn. |
I watched the first episode and liked it a lot, but have no real desire to keep going with it. Maybe I'll catch up given that a lot of my shows are ending now... but even still, with Top of the Lake, Rectify and Treme (ugh, reeeeeeally need to catch up on that), it could still be a while.
|
I will, I say, I will keep up with the summer block of new shows. That said, I'm still not entirely sure what all starts up this summer television show-wise other than some crime shows like Motive, but then again that's trash. One thing I do know is that MasterChef starts tomorrow I must find somewhere to watch it because I can't do it where I am now and that's like a knife being driven into my eye, aaaagh. ):

Hooray for three-hour French, lesbian, coming-of-age, unsimulated sex dramas finally getting the recognition they deserve!

I admit I've only watched the first six episodes of Hannibal and stopped there, five if you don't count the one episode that Bryan Fuller requested to be pulled from air, but I really enjoyed it. The only reason I stopped though was because it's a much slower paced show that carefully takes its time and pays attention to the details of its storytelling that I'd much rather marathon it through instead of waiting each week for a new episode and forgetting something they might have said weeks before. News that it's on the cutting block upsets me. I wish that if it were cancelled, a cable network would at least pick it up and give it a try. |

I've got a lot of films I want to see this year (I've only seen two films from this year, To The Wonder and Oblivion), but I want to watch Before Midnight THE F*** NOW. |

That confuses me, too. Why would you be disappointed in watching something soon after? I can only think someone would be disappointed that it was over too quickly. You know, like when you eat your slice of cake and then you look down at your plate and think "Aww, no more cake."

It's not something to binge-watch, that's all I'm saying. |
