What do you think of Dark-Type Pokemon: There just epic! I've always considers them like pokemon hiding in the shadows, like ninjas! And I ain't really a bright pink kinda girl so the look of dark type pokemon apealed to me :D and yeah I just love them (:

Your partners: Umbreon (Midnight), Zoura (Trixter) (my two favourites (: yup)

What Types rule: DARK-TYPES! Duh!

Answer the current topic: What do you think is the best move for competitive battling?
I'm rubbish at all out competitive battling -_-' I wish I was, I am trying to train my Umbreon to use Dark Pulse well. Yeah told you I'm bad, although crunch is quite good :)

Welcome to the club man!

To answer the topic, I'm sort of with Midnight Umbreon, I'm not much of a competitive battler.
But I guess I'd have to say Taunt. Since Taunt stops all status and supportive moves making it harder for and opponent to take the advantage with a status aliment or an increase of power.

Treecko April 8th, 2013 11:57 PM

The place's dead. So I'm gonna bump it up with a topic, this happens way too often. >.<

Of all of the Dark-type specialists, which one is your favorite and why?

If you're not sure who these are there's (and this is including spin-offs)
Karen of the Johto Elite Four http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/a/a2/Spr_HGSS_Karen.png
Sidney of the Hoenn Elite Four http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/8/86/Spr_RS_Sidney.png
Grimsley of the Unova Elite Four http://sprites.pokecheck.org/t/079.gif
And in Pokemon Conquest there's Kotaro of the Yaksha Kingdom http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/1/1a/Conquest_Kotaro_I.png

Discuss!

Kareeeeeeen. <3 I wish she was a gym leader rather than an E4. She knows how to battle with her Umbreon and Houndoom very well. Those two Pokemon were too tough to beat when I faced her a few times.

Ah yes, let's try to make this place more active. hahaha. Welcome to the club Megan! And yeah I really wish she was a Gym Leader too, she'd work well as one. Honestly there just needs to be a Dark type gym leader in general.

To answer the topic:

Pretty tough question for me really , I love all three of the specialist in the main games, and have never played Conquest and so I know nothing about Kotaro. But I'm gonna go with Karen. I love her team cause she uses a Umbreon and she knows how to battle well. Plus one of my favorite quotes in any of the games is the one she says in Gold and Silver/ HeartGold and Soulsilver after you defeat her (particularly the GS version)
Quote:

"Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites."
Not the full quote but this is the part i love the most. It's words I definitely live by when playing the games. Whenever I play any Pokemon game, my team mostly consists more of Pokemon I like rather than the Pokemon with the best stats. Sure I do look at a Pokemon's stats before making the final decisions, but I usually I just pick Pokemon I like more.

Second would have to be Grimsley. He's so suave-looking and I love his outfit, it's so fancy. Plus he has a great team imo, both during his initial battle and post-game rematch after especially his Scrafty. :D

Hikamaru April 10th, 2013 12:42 AM

Welcome aboard Megan, glad you're planning to keep up this club's activity!

I'll answer the topic while I'm at it.

Of all of the Dark-type specialists, which one is your favorite and why?

Grimsley of course! I love his hair, the fact he's a 5th Gen character (you know how much I love that generation) and he uses really strong Dark-types like Scrafty, Bisharp and Krookodile. I really wanted him to be a Gym Leader rather than an Elite Four member, but he's still cool nonetheless! But I do hope X and Y finally give us a Dark-type Gym Leader!

Grimsley for me sparks the entire "Dark" gimmick. He is a gambler, suspicious and, over all, creepy
http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/thumb/8/8c/Black_White_Grimsley.png/150px-Black_White_Grimsley.png
(just look at that grin).

Past Dark specialist only look like normal trainers who hold and train Dark types. Grimsley just shouts "Darkness is my specialty."

Out of all three E4 Dark specialists, Grimsley strikes me as more mysterious than the other two. He has that secret personality that leaves you wondering "wow, I must know more about him!" and well, you can't because he wants to keep it that way. He's a Dark-Type trainer and he knows how to train them, that is all you should know. :P

What do you think of dark type pokémon?: Dark type pokemon are awesome, the way they are designed is pretty much just screaming I'm merciless.
Your Partners?: Bisharp and Houndoom
What type rules?: DARK TYPE RULES
Answer to current topic: If it's overall then Kotaro (Conquest), just because he looks awesome in rank 1 and just total badass in rank 2, plus he's my favorite from samurai warriors, if it's limited to main series then Grimsley, just because of how mysterious he is and how he looks like he was born to use dark types.

Dark Scythe April 10th, 2013 5:55 PM

now that i've seen grimsley from the front, i sorta have this image of a creepy butler... ok, to the point. Grimsley's the best to me, coz i don't play conquest and i don't exactly have any experience with karen and sidney. i don't know but i think grimsley's ok, but thats just my opinion.

Yeah I agree with you guys! Grimsley seems to be the type of the person who looks like he owns dark-types, he's mysterious and he's a gambler so he's probably has taken risks before in his life. I wish he was more involved in the story of Gen V, but the amount we know about him gives him that mysterious feel which I like.

Hey everyone! So this club hasn't had a lot of lack of activity lately, so I thought of an idea that might help! So I decided we could have some events. The first one being a Create-a Dark-type Pokemon contest. I have no idea what the winner would get, but perhaps we could start a point system, or a I could give away a Pokemon (preferably a Dark type) or something. I'm gonna start the first event once we get more ideas, so please discuss some. I have some general rules in my head, but what ideas you guys have? Any idea suggestions for the Create-a-Dark-type contest or idea for any other events here in the club? I'd like to hear ideas so please don't be shy. Cause like the intro thread says, I don't bite. :) Thanks everyone.

Create as in.. draw or describe? Not everyone's an artist you know. :p
You could go for something like 'create' a new dark pokemon and it's name, signature move, what it's based on/what it represents, etc.

Either would be good If someone isn't good at drawing they could describe the Pokemon they created along with it's moves, name, signature move, stats, what's it based on and such. It's easier if people were to draw it out to get a better visual image of what it looks like, but either drawing or description is good. Though really, f they choose to draw, the drawing doesn't have to professionally done or very good, just as long as I can tell what it is.

I certainly can be of help. Maybe we all can think of features for our new dark type and maybe have someone with an image editing program create the composite image?

Anyway I want to apologize for my long intermission from activity in the club and like to make it up by being as active as possible :).

That sounds like a good idea, but I also would like to have a contest where everyone makes their own dark type too. But we could do your idea too maybe.

EDIT: How about a new topic as well to keep discussion about Dark-types flowing more. Please keep talking about idea for events and such too. I really want to start some events.

Do you think there should be a starter Pokemon that's part Dark? If so which of the three starter types (Grass, Water, Fire) you think would work best with a Dark-typing? If not, explain why.

Me personally, I honestly think there should be! I honestly hope Chespin's evos are either Grass/Dark (or Grass/Fighting) cause I think a Grass/Dark type starter would be awesome. And it makes me said that the only three Grass/Dark types are Cacturne , Shiftry and Nuzleaf. I think we need more.

I would definetely have to go with Chespin. Among all the new starters Chespin looks the coolest and most suitable to receive the legendary dark type.

Midnight-Umbreon April 28th, 2013 10:45 AM

I would love having a part dark type starter!!!
And I agree, I think Chespin would make an EPIC dark type!! And I would definatly choose him.
But I would love a fire/dark starter in the future...that'll be cool :)

What do you think of Dark-Type Pokemon: There messengers of the night (most of the time). They completely eradicate every other type in the only way they know how, epicly.
Your partners: Weavile
(Up to two) What Types rule: Dark-Ice types
Answer the current topic: Dark and fire because its been fire fight for awhile and depending on what type of pokemon its the speed would be absolutely phenomenal, and not to mention the design of the pokemon. Maby even a red panda pokemon. Id pick that in a heart beat. And the shiny form would be purple and dark red or something.

Meganium April 29th, 2013 8:03 AM

I'd like to see a Water/Dark type. A Pokemon where it can live in dark water or swamps or deep inside coral caves on the bottom of the ocean. A water/dark type where it has the ability to see in the darkness underwater, and be able to swiftly hunt without any problem. Yep, that's a Pokemon I'd love to see! ;3

A Water/Dark would be cool when I say a Pokemon that can see in the darkness of Underwater makes me think like a cool version of Lanturn like a scarier version of an angular fish. Though you mean something else right?

Welcome to the club!!!

I'd love Fire/Dark too as a starter at least cause then it would break the Fire/Fighting pattern Fire starters have been given the last 3 generations. :( I'm so tired of that pattern so any typing different for the Fire starter I'd accept! Spinda's sort of a red panda imo , but I guess a more realistic looking panda would be cool.

Anyone one else have more ideas for events? I'd love to start something asap! Let me know on this thread or VM/PM me ideas. Thanks!

tekxxstat84xp April 29th, 2013 3:53 PM

Spinda looks more like a koala. It dosent look close to a red panda at all.

miltankRancher April 29th, 2013 3:57 PM

We're still alive! Sorry AWSquared for leaving! T.T Anyway, as for the topic, Karen all the way. What can I say, I am a sucker for pretty faces? she's a good battle during Pokemon Gold, her Umbreon and Houndoom a pain when I started off with Cyndaquil.

And for the current topic [I just realized that this was the previous one. sorry]

Do you think there should be a starter Pokemon that's part Dark? If so which of the three starter types (Grass, Water, Fire) you think would work best with a Dark-typing? If not, explain why.

Yes. I believe that Serperior is a good candidate for the dark-type. Look at it, it is an imposing royal snake. Snakes are dark [*ehem*garden of eden*ehem*] and royalty, with their haughtiness and look-down-upon-everybody attitude can be considered pretty dark. Plus, once it has access to several dark moves, like Nasty Plot, it will be a beast.

What do you think of dark type pokémon?: Not only are the designs awesome and I happen to like the evil characters in plots, but the dark type literally has infinite possibilities. I mean, you could be defensive, offensive, or just about anything!
Your Partners?: Honchkrow, Bisharp, Hydregion, and Houndoom.
What type rules?: Trick question? Dark!
Answer to current topic: I think fire should have a part dark starter. The other two starters have more than one dark variation, while fire only has houndoom.

I always thought it looked like a panda personally but who really knows what it's supposed to be. Maybe a red panda would be a goo Pokemon.

No apologizes. You should of been here more. No it's fine man.

Now that you think about it, Serperior would of made a great Grass/Dark type. It's a snake which are always regarded as evil , such as the snake in the Garden of Eden so adding a Dark-typing would make sense. Plus with the Dark-type move it can learn becoming STAB , it would greatly benefit from it.

Welcome to the club Joey!

I think we need a new topic. similar to the old one but different.

If you could make any (existing) Pokemon part Dark what would it be and why?

Also feel free to start your own topics if I'm not around.
GO!!

Shiftry

SLAKING comes to mind. I mean, look at it. Yes, it is a snorer. Yes, it is lazy. Yes, it only attacks every other turn. You know what that reminds me of? One of the seven deadly sins: Sloth. Don't you think that being the pokemon incarnation of a concept that sends human to hell (according to Christian belief) is dark enough?n
