Oh man. I've wasted 220+ hours of my life on just Final Fantasy Tactics Advance alone, this crossover is SO right. If it's the same type of battle system as FFTA, then my life, as related to pokemon, is almost complete. Port over all gens to DS and I will never go outside again xD
I'm extremely interested in this game. Anyone play it yet? And btw, Nobunaga was a famous Japanese Military leader, as were most of the human characters that I've heard are in the game. Why would Samurai + Pokemon be a good crossover? The past and present of Japan being mixed? I think I love it. I really wish it would come out in the States, but if not, maybe someone will fan-translate it, in which case I'd be willing to find that somewhere. I'm almost wanting an English translation of this as much as I want Gen III remakes. |

Nice! An official English release! I will be sure to get the game! When I do get a DS... >.>
|
That's great news. While I've not had a huge amount of exposure to tactics/strategy games, getting to try Pokemon in a new genre is always interesting.

Pokémon Conquest
So Pokémon + Nobungas Ambition has been given an official release date for the U.S (and a name change to Pokémon Conquest) The game is expected to hit shores June 18th 2012, will you be picking up a copy?
|
Did you report yourself, Suicune? @[email protected] lol Anyway, I'll just change the name of the existing thread in spin offs, since it's the same game, just the new localized name.
|
DEAR LORD YES.
That is such a badass name that I'm getting this game for sure when it comes out. Also because this game has its own merits of being a tactical strategy game, which I love, and etc. |
I'm actually surprised this game is coming to the US. I'm not really sure if I'll snag a copy of it yet, but I do like the english name for it.
|
I'm happy it's coming to the US. I think it'll do well here. :) Not sure if I want a copy just yet, but I'm considering it. I'm still a little wary of getting spin offs. So it might be a while after it's released before I get it.
|
Guess what? Now we have a US trailer for it! OMG, I cannot wait for this! I'm glad the release date is right around the corner. Should hold me over while I wait for Black 2 and White 2. :)
EDIT: We also now have English Boxart: Spoiler:
|
Yes... a US release. I'm going to get it since it looks pretty fun.
|
Now, here's all the Pokemon you can get in Pokemon Conquest:
Spoiler:
|
I was gonna write this game off, but I just saw some game play of it and it seemed a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. And hearing that it's going to be localized is great news, especially if it's going to be out in just a few months, so now I don't have to weigh the pros and cons of playing the game in Japanese.
|
It looks incredibly entertaining. Mixing pokemon with a strategy game seems like a really fun idea. I think I'll wait for some reviews to come out, and consider getting it (assuming we get a UK release).
Oh, and Serebii says it's listed still as Pokemon and Nobunaga's Ambition in Australia. I prefer that to the English title we've been given already. And there often are differences between the titles of North American games and those released elsewhere. |
Idk how I feel about this game yet....I think I will like it though it could be a bad move on Nintendo's part, but we'll see. I'm expecting mixed reviews once it's released

This game looks pretty cool, but I'm not sure if I'm going to like it or not. I guess I better wait until I play it to decide.
|
I played a lil of the Japanese version, it's pretty cool, definitely better than Ranger and pinball, and on the same level as Mystery Dungeon. Of course, if I understood what the characters were saying I'd probably have more fun!
|
Quote:
Does anyone else find it interesting that - apart from Zekrom/Reshiram - there's only one of each relevant legendary pair/trio? |
Quote:
|
The game seems interesting, like the advance wars series. I probs will buy it when it comes out; also, do you guys know if hooh or lugia are available?
|
No, they aren't. The list of available Pokemon can be found here.
|
A strategy RPG Pokemon game set in old Japan about an actual war except with Pokemon?
I thought I wouldn't be playing a Pokemon game for a WHILE. Quote:
|
Not really all that interested in this game, but the artwork for the pokemon are amazing!
|
I've kinda forgotten about this game since the news of B2W2 has been churned out.. I'm not sure whether this looks like my type of game but I think I might give it a try.
|
I guess I'll make my mind up about the game when it eventually gets a European release date... still waiting, guys!
|
I've played the Japanese version and I loved it! It's something different from the usual catching, training, etc.
|
It got an Australian release date of the 21st June, with the Pokemon Conquest name. Source.
|
Does anyone else think that it's a bad idea releasing this 5 days before Black and White 2? I mean, I know it's not the English release, but a lot of people will probably be saving to import the games. Which means sales for this will go down. IMO, it's a bad move.

Strategy RPGs and Pokemon are the two most addictive kinds of video games. Each have consumed hundreds of hours of my time. If they can pull this combo off, I can already forsee what my summer plans will be...
|
looks cool. Not sure if I like it though. I hope for the best! It definitely has neat graphics.
|
When I watched people play through the Japanese version, I kept thinking to myself, "That looks really fun. It's such an interesting twist on the series." So when I found out that it was announced for release in the US, I was very excited. I can't wait to play it. :3
|
Glad others find this neat. I am an avid strategist, but I don't know. Me, on the other hand, thinks this is a shaky move. I like the idea of Pokémon getting a little darker, but strategy too? This is something that will make me go "hmm..." until US release.
Anyway, the Groudon emperor guy looks pretty cool. |
Pokemon Conquest
So Pokemon Conquest will be releasing in North America pretty soon do you think it's worth buying?
|
I've gotta say, I don't normally go all out and buy games like this first day ... but the premise of the game is irresistible. Not to mention the fact that GameStop has a bonus for those who pre-order (five extras), which might just seal the deal for me. All the reviews I've heard (not many) seem fairly positive (with NP giving it a 9.0 out of 10).
|
So, this came out in the US today. Anyone picked up a copy? I'd be really interested to hear people's thoughts on it.
|
I went to Gamestop today, they said they wouldn't have it until tomorrow or the next day.
Lame. I wanted to conquer the Earth with pokemon. |

|
Yeah, I went for it today all prepared and everything and no luck ._. I'll have to go back tomorow and pick it up :\
|
After completing it I can assure you, if you enjoy fire emblem or advance wars, this is a little different. It doesn't have the same 'vibe',. Nevertheless, it is a good game, but being set in Japan and not having Ho-oh seems a wasted opportunity. Let me know what the story is like, Obviously I understood very little of it when I was Playing.
|
It's really troll how everywhere said it gets released today, but now they all say tomorrow. I wouldn't be mad if it was announced, but I hate how Gamestop tries to take no fault at all by saying "No it was 19th all along."
I would play my JP version some more, but I'd rather wait so I can actually understand everything. |
Quote:
|
Still, there were a bunch of angry people all around my area today. They could've at least said "It was pushed back."
Don't tell me two days before "Oh it comes out Monday" then in Monday say "Oh it was Tuesday all along, who told you Monday?" |: |
We didn't know (at Toys R Us) either until we got our shipment in today. It was street dated 6/19/2012. We couldn't sell any either.
|
I think the date that was given was the shipping date from what I heard which may explain the delay.
I may get it if it's not too expensive. I have played a bit of the Japanese version though and from what I tried it was decent. Of course won't be for a while; australia gets it a while later and I'll be too busy to play a new game next week. |
When I got my copy of Conquest today at noon, they had to get the box from the back room and cut open the box. Clearly, I am the only person in town interested in this game.
Lego Batman 2 has a poster in the window, but Pokemon Spin-Off does not? (Lego Batman 2 has the same release date.) |
W00t; finally Pokemon Conquest is out (although a shame that there were slight problems with the release dates)! I'm considering getting it as I've been interested in it for a while, although there are quite a few Wii, DS, and 3DS games I was hoping to get as well... (not to mention that I'm trying to get a DS Lite soon >.>)

And wha..? :o The Lego videogame series seems to do well on its own, but Pokemon Conquest should at least get a poster too, especially since the 2nd game series involved in the crossover is a bit obscure in some parts of the world... |
This game is going to be the end of my sanity.
I'm WAY too paranoid over missing things, I just wasted a bunch of time trying to level up for the Fighting...Kingdom?, but I didn't know I could go to the other two, and there are some events that require you to beat the game before the fourth year and I have think I have to restart, but I don't know if I can get the Motonori/Motochika DLC again and AAAAAAAARGH. ...yet I like it. |
Conquest didn't really get any publicity. You had to know it existed to be able to find it, otherwise you just don't know its out. Had a couple people ask me what Pokemon Conquest was because they had never heard of it.
|
I really want to play this game. But I can't BECAUSE ENGLAND. ): It looks really good too! ): Roms don't work either because of the piracy. So I'll have to wait until it's cracked.
|
I spent forever trying to find out how to Link new pokemon. NOWHERE in the manual does it say to just wait until it tell you you can link, because you can't link till then. Wasted a lot of time there.
Since then I found Perfect Links for 2 of my lesser Warriors. A Pichu and a Carnivine. |
Quote:
Of course posting links to ROMs is strictly forbidden so I may not post link but you can surely find it ;) |
Lmao as soon as I posted that I heard there was a patch. Didn't work on my R4 but works on no$gba (pls dont pm asking) I just hope the stylus isn't needed because I hate using the mouse. >:
|
Quote:
I'm also wondering why it waits so long to let you link with Pokemon- by the time it tell s you how to do it, you've already taken down 5-7 of the other...countries? Kingdom?, yet there's only 17, so unless it pulls an unexpected PLOT TWIST to prolong things, it doesn't seem like you'd have all that long to even have to worry about it. |
You link with Pokemon after after beating the Fire, Grass, Water, and Electric Nations. I consider Fire/Water/Grass to be the game's tutorial mode. So, introducing linking after defeating the Third nation would be better than after the Fourth.
Honestly the game is pretty easy to understand. But catching Pokemon is a big part of the franchise, so they should have told me in the instruction book that i actually read, "Hold your horse the catching part comes latter." LOVE the game so far by the way. If you didn't notice from my sig. |
I went in to pick it up on the 18th, because that's when I thought it was out. I preordered it a couple weeks ago, and had been waiting patiently, so I was pretty disappointed. But after picking it up, I was amazed at how great a game it was. I've taken down several nations, and was able to get a perfect link Carnivine with one of my warriors. This game is so addicting. o.o
|
Yeah this game is crazy fun. I still can't find a way to release warriors or pokemon though... I really dont want this weird bug type and magikarp anymore :< I don't even know if it's possible to release warriors :S
|

After some Experimenting, (I pressed next month for 7 years), I found out that most pokemon seem to get there first evolution at 50-51%. They only evolve after a battle.
To evolve a pokemon that evolves by item, equip the item to the Warrior, then go into battle. They only evolve after a battle. |
That game is pretty decent but short... After playing for an 1 and half day I've finished the storyline... and according to game time, it took only about 8 hours o.O
Serebii said it has at least 20 hours of gameplay... I finished it in 8? :/ Gotta blame the weaknesses of kingdoms... But what shocked me is that once you finish the storyline part you cannot go back and you can only do the post-game episodes o.O I thought I would be able to go back and train my warriors and collect legendaries o.O Well... I'll try to beat all the episodes and see what's gonna happen in hero's one. @SnowpointQuincy: Most :D The ones that have 2 evolutions evolve quicker and have their final evolution at >50% link =) |
Quote:
And apparently you CAN go back, but after you finish all 32(?) post-game chapters. Probably one of the bigger flaws of the whole game, but oh well- it's better than beating it in 8-10 hours and having nothing to do afterwards/a New Game+ aka the exact same game but harder/easier. |
My Eevee evolved into a Glaceon. Oops, too late to undo the damage but oh well. I didn't realize that the region where your Eevee battled right before it evolves determined which form it took. Note to self, I guess.
|
So Serebii has a list of pokemon and when they evolve. A lot of them evolve when there attack or speed gets to a certain number. Glaceon and Leafeon stat evolve in the ice kingdon and grass kingdom. Umbreon and Espyon evolve in the dark and psychic kingdoms with a link value of 70% (which is pretty high).
Also, after beating the rock kingdom, a chaacter will hand you a suit of Fire Water Thunder stones. |
I've lost (a lot of) sleep over this game, which means it's great. I really feel this game has surpassed Snap, which was what I believed to be the best Pokemon spin-off until now.
It's not perfect, but it's very, very good, and has the potential to be even better in the future--I'm really looking forward to sequels, and I hope some are made! I know some GameStops sold out on day one, and it seems to be getting almost completely positive reviews, so I don't see the harm that would come of a sequel. |

So I really have to do all the episodes, huh? Well I thought so :D |
So I beat the main story. The final battle is epic enough. Now with all of these post game chapters. This is so different from other post-game materials I've encountered.
I really don't know what to expect from the post game. (my final team was Vaporeon, Exedrill, Darmanitan, Cronkeldorr, Allakazam, Gallade) I didn't intend on playing with all powerhouse pokemon like alakazam, but they were the closet to evolving, so it all worked out! |
I got it yesterday and it's awesome so far but it seems like it's going to be rly short. :( 1400 strength @ 7 kingdoms claimed. :3
|
The post game adds some extra things to do. there are like 8-10 episodes. I'm working through the Hidiyoshi episode, seems like each episode might take a couple of hours each. Still don't know yet.
|
Quote:
But what is moved to another episode are Pokémon of characters, I've recruited Hanibei in Mitsu's episode, evolved her Mareep into Ampharos and she had it when I started Hideyoshi's episode. Pretty interesting... |
Yeah, I don't know how long the extra episodes will last.
The first warrior I recruited had a magikarp, then the game says "I recognize him!" Suddenly he has a Gyrados! That early in the game, SWWEET! |
I have a perfect link with a Zorua! Woohoo!
|
Quote:
|
So I finally started to play this about 5 hours ago and O M G. I love it. It's certainly addictive. I honestly didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I am. It's fighting for 1st place for my favorite spin off with PMD.
|
So... there are like 32 things to complete post-game, plus others that are randomly released from wifi downloads? Hmm. Either way so far I've only completed that annoying guy from Ignis with the Scizor. I started on Oichi's "greatest beauty of all" or whatever, and by far it is impossible to win, oh my God. Also as a character she is driving me crazy I want to go back to my old army ;__;
|
I hate Oichi. At first I loved her because Jigglypuff was quite helpful. And now she's just annoying. Jigglypuff was dead weight. SO GLAD I EVOLVED IT. It's still bad though.
|
It's even more useless post-game!
She's helpful to heal you, though, like with Sweet Song. With my team I basically had like Darmanitan/Wigglytuff with the warrior skills being Sweet Song and Detox - so basically like a mini full restore to use during battle. :3 But the character itself... she is just so boring. idk might be because she has no self confidence or something but she drives me crazy. |
I would run out and get this, but it isn't released in Europe yet. I could import it though.
Looks really good though. |
Guys why so much hate? :D Oichi was cute and that's all that was needed :D
But Jiggly was pretty useless that's for sure... it was such a relief that you did not lose the battle when Oichi lost. (You know, like in MDs when your partner fainted you lost) |
Guys! Guys! Replace Jigglypuff with Drilbur / Exedrill. Drilbur is a little wierd in combat, but when it evolves (by raising it's attack) This thing rips mountains!!!!! Exedrill carried me through Hideyoshi's Episode!
Eevee and Jigilypuff where actually great choices for your first pokemon. For One, both of them evolve under controlled events, so they can't evolve untill the game lets you do so. Second, Jigglypuffs massive HP, Sleeping ability, and Warrior's Healing ability make allow you to fix mistakes made in the game's learning curve. |
Now that the game is out, and this thread's original purpose was to talk about the game before it hit, I think I'll just make a new thread for general Conquest topics. Thanks for contributing opinions and such, everyone!
