Body work is the most expensive type of car work, I've found.

Though we've put a ton of money into brakes the last couple of years because I was kind of a leadfooted driver when I first started out and my brother is even worse than I was when it comes to being a leadfoot who slams on the brakes.

Kenshin5 December 21st, 2011 8:49 PM

I was more of a horrible parker and still am, then a leadfoot. Although I have intentionally went over the speed limit on several occasions(luckily no cops where around)

If I had siblings and they wanted to learn, I'd definitely charge them, cause I figure they would probably stress me out to no end having me think that it would get crashed. I don't know how those Drivers ED people do it on a daily basis riding with a bunch of noobs, outside of having the brake on the passengers side of course.

donavannj December 21st, 2011 8:59 PM

I have had ridiculous luck not getting pulled over for speeding at times. My brother on the other hand, who isn't as attentive as I am in general, not so much (he didn't see the speed limit change and he hasn't figured out where the cops like to sit for their speed traps).

The car we share is actually one my parents bought 13/14 years ago as a primary family vehicle (new at that!). The primary driver of it is the one who gets the fun of paying for any repairs needed, though.

This is the damage my brother did to it last winter, and it's still missing that part. That rear door is unrelated to his damage and was caused by me before I got my license.

I'm back from my swim, the weather was absolutely perfect!

..still on the topic of cars, I see...

jesus guys POSTING UP A STORM HERE

I don't know how to drive so I'm not sure how I can contribute to this conversation, lol. I've always been afraid I'll kill someone or something :(

donavannj December 21st, 2011 9:44 PM

Because of certain kinds of road traps (in order to essentially get someone's insurance premium - a kind of fraud) being particularly prevalent some years back, my state of Minnesota is a no-fault state for insurance purposes.

It very much bugs me when people don't signal, but sometimes I do forget to until the last minute myself because the turn "sneaks up" on me.

A dog ran in front of my car and I slammed the brake hard enough to break the brake pedal.

Guess who no longer stops or slows down for dogs/cats/squirrels now?

I think someone hit the brakes too hard. ;)

Seriously, though, I do think you did. Even if your car didn't have ABS built in.

Mr. X December 21st, 2011 9:56 PM

The car was from 1986 so it WAS old as dirt. Mostly leadfoot though, but age did play a part in it.

Livewire December 21st, 2011 10:02 PM

194 posts in like 1 day, holy hell.

My little brother suffers from lead foot syndrome, ahaha.

That was probably the most significant factor over a newer car. The brake could have had a very thin lever to the pedal, while modern cars tend to have sturdier levers for the brakes.

That is quite insane. Wouldn't it be awesome if this activity level kept up for the duration of the thread's existence?

Impo December 21st, 2011 10:59 PM

I don't actually know what to consider active-est in a thread, to be honest :S

I was sick earlier this week. Sucks bein' sick, yeah. My head's spinnin' all around! xD

I just lay down and try not to move much whenever I'm sick. Chances are, I'll fall asleep anyways.

Welcome to six years ago. I have no real interest in reliving the past, though.

alisaie December 21st, 2011 11:56 PM

I've basically had a headache a good chunk of the day. However, instead of just sitting 'round doing nothing, my sister and I went on a walk to get fat McDonalds, since it's the closest place we can walk to and eat something for well... cheap. Then later I took and shower and then started sneezing and sniffling. Funfun! I don't let sicknesses get in my way!

Ivysaur December 22nd, 2011 1:22 AM

I have been sick three weeks in the last two months, and I'd like to stay healthy for the reast of the month XD I'm not specially prone to getting sick, but I don't know what's wrong this year. Maybe the exam stress?

Legendary Silke December 22nd, 2011 1:47 AM

I haven't been sick since, like, forever.

Palkia December 22nd, 2011 2:03 AM

I have a minor headache now, and I seem to have them all the time. Infact, I usually don't feel well for some reason I don't know.

Also 2 years ago.

Though the discussion quality has generally gone up since 2005 and 2009, even if it is cyclical at times.

I've been sick way more often than usual this year. I probably need more exercise and better nutrition to keep my immune system in top shape.

Karma Police December 22nd, 2011 3:04 AM

this place be crazy

anyways, since the current discussion seems to be about sickness, well, I hadn't been sick for quite some time until about 2-3 weeks ago when I got fever. The change in seasons always gets me xD

The last major illness that I remember I had was way back in Sep 2010, when I got Swine Flu. After that, I may have had fever like once or twice (or maybe more lol)

I maintain that discussion quality in the DCC has remained consistently low all throughout. Some things never change, I suppose.

Truality December 22nd, 2011 3:52 AM

I've been sick for three days straight, but I don't care, because it's snowing, and because I stuck my face to the window and I look like a retarded kid. But I'm happy.

Shining Raichu December 22nd, 2011 3:55 AM

this is a Daily Chit-Chat, why would the discussion quality need to be high? Chill.

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ December 22nd, 2011 4:42 AM

Well, fortunately, I'm not sick and there's no snow. In fact, if I'm lucky, we won't have a White Christmas this year... though we still won't enjoy temperatures in the 80's...

I never saw the appeal of a White Christmas anyway... all it does is make the roads dangerous and deadly.
