You finally made your second club, huh? Nice CSS btw.
Name: Olli97/Olli Partner Pokémon: Rex the Nidoking Reason for joining: My feelings on Poison types are actually kind of mixed tbh. While I enjoy having a Poison type on my team as they are good allies and very helpful as they often have a chance of poisoning the foe, whether it's an ability or a move, but I hate fighting them for the exact same reason. I can only remember a few times where I haven't been poisoned while battling a Poison type Pokémon. But as much as I hate them as enemies, it could never overshine my love for the typing and for the Nidoran family. I seriously love them (NOT WHEN BATTLING THEM THOUGH!) n_n |

Also, they have the most interesting and gimmicky Pokemon to use. On the QUIZ: Grimer has a light green hue. On topic: My favorite Poison type Pokemon is Crobat, my all time favorite Pokemon. I first used him during my Gold run, and i really don't know why I liked him the most. It just stuck on me. |
Hey you made another club nice job, I love Poison types.Glad to be one of your first 10 members of this club :D
Name : AquaFin Partner Pokemon : Spooky the Gengar Reason for Joining : Poison is also a type I love using, they hit Psychic and Grass HARD in the face. They also can have Poison sideffect with most of their moves. What is your favourite Poison Pokemon and why? : Well I love Croagunk because in the anime it Poison Jabs Brock when he is in love with Nurse Joy or another woman and also I like Grimer because its an adorable blob smiling at me xD |
Hi, welcome to all new members! :) MilktankRancher was right on the quiz, shiny Grimer certainly is green! And I'm loving all the praising of Crobat, it truly is a great Pokemon! I never got round to watching that series of the anime, but it sounds a lot like Brock's Croagunk whom I utterly adore! <3 As for my favourite Poison type, it's a mixture between Grimer, Muk and Amoonguss. Grimer is my favourite based on the Pokemon itself, but once you get into battle Muk and Amoonguss really shine! With some incredibly unique strategies, these Pokemon really help define Poison types for me. They're an absolute pleasure to use and always leave your enemies guessing; this signifies a great Pokemon in my books!
A new trivia question is up!: How many Poison Pokemon evolve via an evolutionary stone? |
I think its 5 Pokemon : Nidorina --> Nidoqueen( Moon Stone?) Nidorino--> Nidoking ( Moon Stone?) Gloom--> Vileplume( Leaf stone ), Roselia --> Roserade ( Shiny stone)
Weepinbell --> Victreebell (Leaf stone ) And I'm not sure if you would count this one Gloom into Bellosom by Sun stone. |
I am annoying my cousins whenever we do our annual Pokemon battles. I always lead off with Minimize Muk. LOL. They can't do anything about it.
as with the trivia questions, aquafin got it right. 5 pokemon evolve using stones. |

Basically this includes Grimer/Muk, Gulpin/Swalot and Trubbish/Garbodor ^^ Personally my favourites and Grimer & Muk because Grimer is such an awesome Pokemon in almost every way, and then Muk makes up for Grimer's weaknesses by being kick-ass good in battle! Garbodor is also quite a strong contender for me, but its stats and moves just aren't good enough. D: |
garbodor does not quite make the cut for me. I hate the design, personally. LOL.
gotta go with Muk. he always gives me a nice challenge everytime I went up against him. |

I'm more neutral towards Gulpin and Swalot, as I find their design ok. It's not truly horrific like some other Pokémon, but it's not super good either, but I never really got to know them while playing the games, so I don't really have any opinions on them, and I don't know how good they actually are in battle. I find their concept pretty original though, so that's one of the probs they get from me. Moving on to my actual favourites of the bunch, and the reason why I'm NOT being original, is Grimer and Muk. I've already pretty much made it clear in several of my previous posts, that I am indeed a lover of the original 151, and that is also one of the main reasons that I like Grimer and Muk. The reason that I like them is basically just, that they're the ones I've know for the longest time and the ones that I know the most about. Their desgins were pretty unique back in the days, though they're not really anything special when compared to all the other new Pokémon, but I still love them just as much. |
I find trubbish to be a cutie. I love it's little teethy expression, although cute is not somethig I could say about garbador. :x
|
Nicely said Olli. I would have to agree with you that Garbodor's concept is not truly the best idea EVER.
On topic: I have quite a soft spot for Budew's design actually. It looks like asian because of its eyes, and that smile is so cute. |
Which Poison Pokemon do you find cutest?
Foongus,budew and Venonat Spoiler:

i knew it. Budew is too cute. He will be the winner. :)
venonat creeps me out, honestly. Especially with his weird eyes and such. |

Partner Pokemon: Roserade Reason for joining: Poison type Pokemon intrigue me deeply. My favorite aspect of them is how they can poison opponents with almost any move. I may not find them as useful as say the water type in battles, but they still are one of my favorite types. I think bulbasaur is the cutest. Spoiler:
Too cute! |
hi there d4rka8isz! welcome to the club!
I may not quite agree with you in saying that Poison type is not as useful as water types. each type has their won niche to fill in, and it is like saying that a hammer is not as useful as a wrench. Water types are good at what they do, mostly sweeping and such, but poison types, who specializes in status ailments, confusions, and such, and they do well in it. :) I will be posting up a new topic tomorrow. I will let these topic slide down first. Gligar and Gliscor definitely should be poison types. They're scorpions after all.

plus, gligar's purple which is kind of stereotypical for a poison type. |

Yeah, I agree; never really though about that though good observations. I always though carnivine should be poision, dunno, since it does live in swamps which can contain poison if polluted. /now I'm getting too technical. =p |
I've always had a feeling that Beedrill should of been poison because its basically injecting poison in through its stinger causing overwhelming pain.

i am sure you need to. LOL.
and thanks for using the userbar I made. :) |
Hmm, Gligar and Gliscor is an interesting one... But I personally like their typing as it is ^^ I think the Flying/Ground typing defines it more than a Flying/Poison or Ground/Poison typing would. :3 Plus it doesn't learn many Poison moves from memory? I think Sandshrew could do with a Poison typing, especially considering some of its staple moves include Poison Jab :3 New topic!
New topic: 'Which Poison type do you find scariest?' I think Drapion! Spoiler:
|
I agree with you Alex. :) Drapion looks pretty scary from my point of view, especially with its coloring and its fangs and such. Plus, it is so big.
|
Quote:
D: Being a little more seroius, I have to agree with you on Drapion. Drapion, also based on a scorpion, which is an animal I most definitely don't like, is a Pokémon just scary in itself. Its face is made rather angry, and its pose seems rather threatening, which only adds to its scaryness. Not to mention all the creepy fanart around the internet. Another Pokémon that lies relatively close to Drapion in a matter of being scary is Victreebel. It pretty much looks like a Pokémon sent from the depths of hell, when you base it off of its facial expression lol. |
i see where you are going here, olli.
http://www.pokestadium.com/pokemon/sprites/handheld/blackwhite/shiny/71.png that shiny sprite is too scary if you ask me. Like he had finished some dastardly business of some sort. and Victreebel is based off a real-life devil. |

I think Victreebell is the scariest since its a demonish flower with its mouth wide open with fangs that are ready for dinner--- a trainer.

Partner Pokemon: Roselia Reason for Joining: I actually didn't like Poison types at first, because they are really annoying in battles most especially at times when you don't have any potion left and your Pokemon is poisoned. But I came to love them after I caught myself one which was a Grimer and fell in love with it! And so, I tried catching other poison types too. They're surely a lot of fun. My favorite poison type is Roselia as to which I chose it as my partner. :) |
Hi Teezee, welcome to the club! Great to have you here. ^^ I couldn't have recommended a better Poison Pokemon to start with, Grimer is the best in my mind! And Roselia is utterly lovely and a huge pleasure to use; although I can't help but prefer Roserade ^^
New topic: 'If you could transform into a Poison type Pokemon, which would you choose?' |
Definately not swalot xD;
Probably Gengar, because not only is it an extremely strong pokemon when trainer and given the right moves but I love it's ability to move through things. x) |
hi there teezee! :)
anyway, on topic. There are many poison types I would love to transform too, barring Garbodor. I love to transform to Nidoking for sheer awesomeness. To crobat for the power of stealth and speed and flight. For Gengar for a ghsotly experience. To Scolipede for sheer weight. But srsly, i would go with Crobat. |
I would love to transform into a Bellsprout, haha
It's so clumsy and weird which makes it really soft and cute, just adorable. N'aaaw <3 |
remember jeanette fisher's bellsprout from first gen? I would not call that clumsy, but boy, it was strong! It managed to defeat Pikachu!
|
Which Poison type do you find scariest?'
Drapion,Arbok and Gengar Spoiler:

In the end I think I'd have to go with Grimer/Muk. The handiness of having a liquified body is something I'd like to experience, where it would make it possible to fit through narrow spaces and stuff, and it would just be generally awesome. And when it comes to battles, neither of them are exactly weak, which is a great bonus if you'd have to end up battling :p |
I think that's awesome, but flight is speed is a better ability. You make pranks, then you fly as hell breaks loose.
|
Oo, great choices all around! I'm not sure I'd want to be Grimer/Muk though, or even Bellsprout. Despite all being some of my favourites, they have a huge problem with mobility! They can't even jump D: I think I'd want to be a Scollipede. Think of the sheer power and stature you'd have! Also if you wanted to get around quick, just use Steam Roller :D
New topic: 'Which Poison type move is your favourite and why?' For me, it's a cross between four moves. Poison Jab, Sludge Bomb, Toxic and Acid Spray. Poison Jab and Sludge Bomb are both very powerful moves often causing great STAB damage and even with a chance to cause poisoning; these seem good in my books! Then there's toxic. An utterly unique move supplying so many useful strategies and coming in useful in almost every situation. It's a shame it doesn't work against Steel types! Then the other move, Acid Spray, is possible the most useful of all. With only 30 base power it isn't exactly a great damaging move, but it sure has a useful secondary effect! Always lowering the foe's special defense by two whole stages whilst also causing damage is invaluable. It means you can really cause some devastation, even with some pretty weak attacks! |
On topic:
I think mine would be a triple tie between Sludge Bomb, Cross Poison, and Toxic Spikes. Sludge Bomb, because it's animation on Gen II is just so good. :) Cross Poison because Crobat for the win. Toxic Spikes because I love them entry hazards. |

Poison is good! The chance of slowly damaging your opponent is very good! But there are by far, more powerful poison type moves out there than PJ.

Hmm.. a Fire Blast poison variant? Maybe you meant a Flamethrower variant. Sludge wave is a pretty cool move, with base power of 90 and almost perfect accuracy (at 100). Also, it could damage all Pokemon in range, which is pretty awesome because it could deal damage to two pokemon in one-hit. Sludge Wave is a better Sludge Bomb. :) pretty neat.
|
can I also join? If so I'd like an arbok but as pokemon lady has got one I'd be fine with ekans if need be.
my reason for joining is that I love most poison types. My goal on fire red was beat the game by being the ultimate poison type trainer. Which I did. Current question question is eight. My favourate 'blob' family is grimer-muk. Mainly for nostalger but muk has helped me out a few times. That picture of Garbodor makes me like it more now :) |

I've never owned Gulpin/Swalot so I'm unsure of a lot of their skills. In fact, the most I remember of Gulpin is using him to swallow foes in Super Smash bros: brawl along with his role in mystery dungeon.
Design-wise, like most poison types, I like it. I always thought it was one of the best evolutions because it looked a lot like it's pre-evolved form but it was clearly much stronger. Compare it to ones like Jigglypuff who doesn't look much tougher if any when it evolves or Magikarp who hardly looks like its next form at all. |
The green blob and the purple blob. I like them. Gulpin and Swalot are pretty amazing in their own way. One time, I lost three Pokemon to one Swalot in Emerald, but I was in third grade. I think that Game Freak should put Swalot in a gym leader's party. Mainly just because I think it's funny, but Swalot is a strong Pokemon.
|
http://www.pokestadium.com/pokemon/sprites/handheld/blackwhite/animated/316.gif http://www.pokestadium.com/pokemon/sprites/handheld/blackwhite/animated/317.gif
Swalot is a neat pokemon (though Muk could achieve more.) I have never had any experience with swalot, except that I always skip Swalot whenever I see a rental Swalot in the Battle Arena. Never tried using it though. |
http://www.pokestadium.com/pokemon/sprites/handheld/blackwhite/animated/316.gif
When I first look at Gulpin - or when most people think of gulpin - we think derp. I mean it doesn't appear to be a bright pokemon, and nor all that useful and really, the bottomline is most of the time it isn't. But with the right moves it can be quite the formiddable opponent early in games and especially when evolved. http://www.pokestadium.com/pokemon/sprites/handheld/blackwhite/animated/317.gif To be honest I don't like Swalot as much as Gulpin simply because Gulpin was a little cuttie, now Swalot is a massive purple blob of flubba. Nevertheless, like I stated beforehand, with the right moed it can become a pretty good team members, especially with its moustache. (Probably noodles, pffft; designers! ;o;) |
Quote:
Quote:
Hmm... I guess its access to Encore is a neat thing, as it can trap a Pokemon 4-8 turns with a Swords Dance. Other than that, I see nothing special. |
Purple Bag Pokemon is an underrated threat that can whip up a storm in UU.
I think its quite useful if it can whip up a storm in UU. |
If teams in UU are not prepared. Honestly, aside from the annoying encore, I think Swalot would not wreak much havoc on a team, unless it is really a suckish team.
|
I disagree! After having used a Swalot in my current Hoenn play through, it's far stronger than expected. And with access to moves such as Toxic, Stockpile and Swallow, this Pokémon really is built to outlast. The only problem is facing non-steal types as the only good non-poison move I seem to be able to find is Body Slam... But I'm sure it can probably learn something to take them down! I think a Curse set could be interesting on it too... As for the moustache again; what?
|
Well, I just based all the things I said based on what i see, and from info I gather. I still have to change opinions once I can actually use a Swalot in battle.
Hmm.. Curse, eh? I think it is a good thing on swalot, considering as he has not that much of Speed to lose. |

I agree mR! Hmm, seems like we're done with the current topic, so let's make a new one!
New topic: 'If you could become a Poison type specialist for the Elite 4, what would your team be?' |
I love Pokemon-team assembling.
Mine would probably be: Crobat would be included because it is my favorite. Anybody having a problem with that? Gengar because he is too cool. Plus, access to Shadow Ball to counter those psychic types is awesoME. Tentacuel is a good lead with Toxic Spikes. :z Roserade is just beautiful. Drapion for sheer power. Earthquake and Crunch for the win. Toxicroak for spot-filler. Cross Chop is a good phsical move, especially when coupled with a Swords Dance. yup yup. |
Quote:
|
oh I think my team would probaly be the same one I used in fire red.
Crobat- speed freak Venusaur- A strong status healer Arbok- For being awesome Gengar- The ghost to mess with minds Tentacruel- For the water moves Nidoking- Heavy physical attacks But as it was from fire red its very first gen heavy. Drapion, Skuntank, Roserade and Scolipede from later gens all could easily feature on mine. |
Interesting teams... I love all the Tentacruels going on! Personally I'd base my team more on favourites as most of the E4 seem to do... I'll list them from which will be weakest at the top to the strongest at the bottom since some Pokemon are always higher levels on their teams :3
Scolipede Roserade Garbodor Swalot Muk Amoonguss Amoonguss would be the strongest, my shining star. With Muk, Swalot and Garbodor all being the same level as each other, slightly lower then Amoongus. Then Scolipede and Roserade would share an again slightly lower level, making the two weaker Pokemon of the team. ^^ Together, this team would kick butt! And probably die easily. :D |
As for me, my team would probably go like this.
Roserade Roserade Roserade Roserade Roserade Roserade Roserade Garbodor Drapion Vileplume Swalot Crobat I kinda really like Roserade, but for challenge's sake, I'm not going with only Roserades. Garbodor and Swalot are the funniest for me so I just put them on my team. |
Quote:
d4rka8isz, having a team of purely Roserades would somehow put you into a tight spot. Especially when you deal with the Fire types, and Gliscor. |
Paha, a whole team of Roserades, why not! Some Elite 4 members repeat their teams :o In that case if i had to have a team of all the same Pokemon, they'd have to be Muk B) Or maybe Amoonguss... Hard choice. ;; I think Amoonguss. :D
|
Yes, they would repeat, but only once. LOL. not a whole team.
but if I am to have a whole team of only one pokemon, i would have crobat. Six crobats. All with return. And then bow down. |
