The Hardest Unova Elite 4
Who is the hardest Elite4 in Unova? Who gave you the most problems? Which Elite Four do you think was the most creative: in both their battling style and team design? Do you feel they should've been harder and/or easier? Discuss!
For me, it was Shauntal. The ghost types was always a pain. They were really annoying. |
I didn't have any problems with any of them during my first battle with them, but during the rematch, Marshall and Shauntal were certainly the most difficult to beat.
|
I'd probably go with Caitlin in the second round and Marshall in both rounds. Caitlin's Metagross hit pretty hard, while Marshall's Sawk was annoying to get past because of Sturdy.
|
Marshall for me.
I remember when I first challeneged the Elite 4 (before I transferred all of my strongies from Diamond over), I had a Darmanitan, which was above level compared to the others' (all of the Elite four) Pokémon, though in order for me to defeat them, I had to just rely on Darmanitan's Flare Blitz to defeat them even though recoil got inflicted upon me, though I healed up after every match. |
Grimsley with Dark types, they're always a pain for me!

Added in a few more questions to the first post to create discussion due to the post-and-go rule.
Either way, Marshall was the hardest for me by far mainly because all my Pokemon were weak to him on my Black playthrough (yeah see Scrafty, Boldore, Audino and Herdier), on White I don't think there was a hardest. I had to grind like crazy on Black. :( However, I do love Marshall's team tbh, it just seemed somewhat unbeatable with the way it was set up. Also, @ Suicune: Really? I mean I always start off with a fighting type, whether it be Scrafty or Emboar and I've never had any issues. :x Maybe try a fighting type? |

OnT: Do you guys have any advice for Shauntal? I'm going to rematch her soon and battle the real champion. |
Marshall would have been a lot easier to beat had it not been for the unexpected Stone Edge, Acrobatics, and U-Turn attacks that he would flood with and KO me consistently, especially if you only have one psychic type available and want to save the powerful psychic type moves for more difficult challengers - like Adler, and the rest of your team is pretty weak against the Mienshao + Conkeldurr combination. u___u

Well, naturally, he's going to be a lot more difficult to beat compared to the four of them. XD
He isn't part of the elite four, though, he's the champion of the region's league. But the only two you really need to be concerned over are Bouffalant (earthquake) and Volcarona. As long as you have a nice fire type (Chandelure, whoop whoop!!), you should be able to sweep most of his team. I did, at least. |
Well, i know that Alder is the champion haha. xD
But do you think my Arcanine would work against his team? |

Well then I think we could trade a good psychic pokemon from previous generations if we dont find any good psychic pokemon to battle with. We could also try to use flying types but most of them are normal/flying so i think thats a bad idea.
The only thing i would do in this situation is to try to trade for a good psychic pokemon or maybe just keep on fighting untill I win. |
There's also the fact that Unova doesn't have many good flying types in general, making Marshall even harder to face. But a lot of people don't actually have another game to trade with and only have wifi, so unless you used Dream World and were lucky enough to come across a Magic Guard Abra early on, then yeaaah.
I know there's Reuniclus and Gothitelle, but really, only White has the advantage there and I wouldn't feel comfortable relying on just Reuniclus against Marshall, considering that TR may be a bad move if it uses Circle Throw on you, and as a result you are stuck with a faster Pokemon and he gains the advantage. |
Hmm, well you can still try.

Doesnt every elite4 change one pokemon in their team when you rematch them? I've never made it to the real champion.
|
i absolutely loved this elite four, they are my favourite! Grimsley is my all time favourite i was like yes! finally a dark trainer and a dang handsome one too :) i found that marshal was deffo the hardest to beat , coz i love dark types so much, it was pretty easy for me to knock out caitlin and shauntal, but then as dark types are weak against fighting, i lost a few times against marshal :(
|
Who is the hardest Elite4 in Unova?
For me? well it was Grimsley because I had two Ghost type Pokemon and two Dark type Pokemon Who gave you the most problems? Grimsley because he was a Dark type trainer Which Elite Four do you think was the most creative: in both their battling style and team design? Shautal because I like her design and I guess her moves were very creative too Do you feel they should've been harder and/or easier? i think the Elite Four was an okay match for me. :t354:TG |
I know that Scrafty can obliterate all except Marshal so it's a nice choice for using against the E4.
Marshal's Pokemon are all pure-Fighting giving them all Psychic and Flying weakness. Sigilyph is OK but some of his Pokemon has Rock-type attacks so Psychics like Beheeyem/Reuniclus/Gothitelle/Musharna are your best bet. I beat him with an Archeops using just Acrobatics. I struggled against Grimsley due to his Bisharp, even though I had a Chandelure it was still tough. My Krookodile easily took down Caitlin's team using only Crunch, Sigilyph was the only problem due to Ice Beam. Most of Shauntal's Pokemon have secondary types (Golurk being part-Ground, Jellicent part-Water and Chandelure part-Fire) so you can easily exploit their weaknesses. Chandelure is weak to Water, Ground and Rock. Golurk is weak to Ice, Water and Grass while Jellicent has secondary weaknesses to Electric and Grass. All of her Pokemon have Ghost and Dark weaknesses. For Grimsley, Bisharp also has weaknesses to Fire and Ground plus that 4x Fighting weakness. Scrafty is weak to Flying as well as Fighting. Krookodile is weak to Bug, Water, Ice, Grass and Fighting while Liepard can easily be beaten with Fighting and Bug. So yeah, Scrafty can obliterate his entire team. Marshal's Pokemon are all pure-Fighting-types but some have Rock attacks to trouble Flying-type attackers. His Pokemon all share a Flying/Psychic weakness. As for Caitlin, her Sigilyph does have the powerful Ice Beam but it is weak to Dark, Ghost, Rock, Ice and Electric. Reuniclus, Gothitelle and Musharna all have Ghost and Dark weaknesses but they have variety in their attacks like Shadow Ball (all except Reuniclus), Thunder (Reuniclus), Charge Beam (Musharna) and Thunderbolt (Gothitelle). |
They should have made them more harder because the fighting type was the only hard one I fought.

Most of them actually do, it's almost funny. |
The Dark Type Elite has often been easy to me. Often because Dark Type is a type that I can easily ignore, so I can just focus on sending its secondary type's weakness.
The fighting Type Elite has either been hard, or easy to me, depending on my team. Mostly due to most of his pokemon having Stone Edge to kill my Flying Pokemons. I find him to be easier the second time thought. Psychic Type has usually been one of my weaknesses. However, this time around, I didn't find this Elite to be THAT hard. I don't know why! Ghost Type Elite has been my hardest usually. Powerful attacks, and I often can't decide to send its weakness, because they're both fast and powerful, they get to kill me before I do! So yeah, my choice is Shauntal |
Caitlin's Sygilyph was the only one to give me trouble. I hate them with a passion.
|
I really had no problems, i migrated my 50s from soul silver so i had no trouble
