BUT ITS ROMANJI WAS SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!
You know what I'm getting at... eh... *elbow elbow*
ITS ROMANJI NAME WAS SO MUCH BETTER HOW COULD THEY NAME IT THAT WHAT WERE THEY THINKING THAT IS SUCH A HORRIBLE NAME OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT I'M NICKNAMING THEM THEIR ROMANJI AS SOON AS I GET THE CHANCE!!!! What were those Pokémon for you? For clarification sake, please include both the English name and the Romanji. *doesn't know all the names of the Pokémon yet, let alone both of their names* |
*coughs*
Well, I've been playing the fantranslated rom, with the romanised Japanese names, so I'm kind of more familiar with those. *coughs again* When I like the Japanese name more, it's usually because I like the sound of it more or I think it's more fluent. Shimama / Blitzle - Blitzle was the first Pokémon that suffered my complaint. I love that Pokémon, but Blitzle reminds me too much of pretzel. :V To me, Shimama sounds more like the happy-go lucky Pokémon it is. Zebraika / Zebstrika - I just find Zebraika to sound more elegant that Zebstrika. |D Though, the change is minor.... Pokabu / Tepig - fluence I suppose + overal cuteness level Mijimaru/Oshawott -Don't like the double t at the end + see above Nageki/Dageki (Troh/Sawk) - Just personal preference There are some more here and there, but the first few are those I remember being kind of "eh" about when the English names were announced. |
Here are my top 2 B/W Pokémon who had better romanji.
Shikijika (Deerling): Shikijika just rolls of the tongue so well and three dotted letters in a name is awesome. Mijumaru (Oshawott): It sounds a lot cuter this way. |
I can't see my 7 year old brother pronoucing any of the japanese names right, a lot of them are too complicated for a child to pronounce, the Japanese names are more easy to pronounce for Japanese children, because it doesn't stay from the Romanji. There are some names I liked, such as Tsutarja and Mijumaru, but probably not for the kids these games are aimed at.

I liked the name Kojondo better than Meinshao, Roopushin better than Conkeldurr (What a derpy name, like come on GameFreak), and finally I liked Hihidaruma better than Darmantian.
|
Nageki and Dageki were better than Throh and Sawk respectively. I still can't get used to those English names... they look and sound so strange to me. XD Pokabu was also much cuter than Tepig. Won't complain about Snivy and Oshawott though since I got used to those in time.

I like Wargle over Braviary because the former's meaning is easy to comprehend.
