☼ The Fortress of Flames ☼ (Fire type fanclub)

Greetings, fellow trainers! I welcome you to...

☼ THE FORTRESS OF FLAMES ☼
The Fire Pokemon Fanclub

Introduction

Fire is another name of passion. In the Pokemon world, Fire is one of the 17 elemental types, a primarily offense-oriented type focusing on a high-risk high-return playstyle. It is fragile, like a real flame; but while it lasts, it make its presence felt and if given the opportunity, it can result in devastation. Fire can have many fascinating faces; from the charming Ninetales to the cool Arcanine; from the ever-so-cute Victini to the awe-inspiring Ho-oh. The Fortress of Flame is dedicated to these magnificent creatures.

If you are also fascinated by Fire Pokemon, or even if you're just a little interested in them, feel free to join FoF. As a member, you would be able to...

☼ Participate in various discussions on Fire Pokemon.

☼ Enjoy to company of their favourite Fire Pokemon (up to 6 Pokemon allowed in a user's party).

FIRST MEMEBER!! YAY!

Ok, you're approved. But it would've been better if you had also discussed some of the topics.

I used to choose the Fire starters in the earlier Pokemon games. But lately I choose the Water starters. That doesn't mean I don't like the Fire ones though! But "teh pig" just doesn't do it for me.

Usually get to those after I get approved :) You want all these answered already? Dang that's a lot for starting out haha

Topic Discussions:
☼According to you, which is the strongest Fire type Pokemon?
The strongest Fire type Pokemon is actually Reshiram in my opinion. Ho-Oh with its Sacred Fire is just insane, but the 4x Weakness to Rock is what hurts it. So Reshiram wins. But other than the great Legends, I'd have to go with Arcanine, very bulky AND is dangerous in offensive.

☼Which Fire type starter do you like the most?
Charizard vs Blaziken. Charizard because he was just the coolest after the first two generation. Blaziken is just badass when introducing the Hoenn region. Of course, Charizard, just like Ho-Oh has that 4x Weakness. I prefer the looks, the tactics and the ability of Blaziken over Infernape anyday, and I absolutely do not like Emboar.

Plus, Blaziken's Speed Boost makes it an Uber Pokemon, just dangerous!

☼Which Fire type legendary do you like the most?
Reshiram. Love her look. She'd be part of my storyline Pokemon I've been writing down about. Excellent Pokemon.

☼Which is your favourite Fire type move?
I'd have to go with Blue Flare. Very beautiful.

?Who is your favourite Fire type Gym Leader?
Blaine! How could you not like him? In the anime, it was very fun watching Charizard vs Magmar battle after Charizard took that nap LOL

☼According to you, which Fire type has the best shiny sprite?
Ninetales!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's a beauty!
http://media.pldh.net/pokemon/gen5/blackwhite_shiny/038.png

☼Do you think Fire types can be successfully used defensively? If yes, how?
No not really. They will have to go all out to win. Moves such as, Rock Slide & Earthquake, can easily hurt/injure the Fire Pokemon. That's the only bad part of owning a Fire Pokemon.

curiousnathan February 9th, 2012 9:12 PM

Name- Curious.
Starter- Valorie the Volcarona.
Reason for joining- Fire types are not only vicious and powerful, they can be extremely desteructive yet do so in an elegant and beautiful manner. They do have their weaknesses, but they are still powerhouses nonetheless.
Referred by- Nobody.

According to you, which is the strongest Firte type pokemon?
Like many people believe, there is no one sole pokemon that the strongest. This applies t legendaries also and fire types as a type. I don't find any to be as powerful as others, disregarding their gaming stats and abilities, I find all of them still do the job in the end, but just execute such a task qicker than others.

☼According to you, which is the strongest Fire type Pokemon?

☼Which Fire type starter do you like the most?
Definitely Volcarona or Blaziken both a beautiful pokemon, so destructive yet elegant.

☼Which Fire type legendary do you like the most?
Ho-oh, reason being it was the mascot of my first even Pokemon game: Pokemon Gold on GBC.

☼Which is your favourite Fire type move?
The typical Flamethrower, cliche'd yes; but very effective.

Who is your favourite Fire type Gym Leader?
Blaine stood out for me, because he is more of a logical person rather than a practical person, unlike Flannery and Chilli. The only thing thats irks me about him is his appearance, that bold head. ;__;

Username: d4rka8isz
Starter: Chandelure
Reason for Joining: The first starter I choose in every generation is fire type... It's an amazing type!

☼According to you, which is the strongest Fire type Pokemon?
The fully-evolved starters because they're always the strongest for me.

☼Which Fire type starter do you like the most?
Definitely Torchic.

☼Which Fire type legendary do you like the most?
Moltres because the rainbow turkey and redundant fire dragon don't appeal to me as much.

☼Which is your favourite Fire type move?
Blaze Kick for sure. It's just because Blaziken learns it.

☼Who is your favourite Fire type Gym Leader?
I would say Flint, but he's an E4 so Flannery is second.

☼According to you, which Fire type has the best shiny sprite?
http://cdn.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/3/35/Spr_5b_500_s.pnghttp://cdn.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/3/3d/Spr_5b_607_s.png

☼Do you think Fire types can be successfully used defensively? If yes, how?
They could if you're smart (I'm not). If you couldn't, what would Magcargo and Torkoal be for? Cannon fodder?

As for the question:
Spoiler:
Emboar (I asked this question in the quiz game without the HP part...)

BTW: Nice intro

Welcome to the club, Jayster. Your answer is right, it's Emboar.

Jayster23 February 10th, 2012 5:19 AM

Like a Boss!

Thought i may put my opinion across on the topic discussions:

☼According to you, which is the strongest Fire type Pokemon?
To me it would be Charizard or Blaziken, Charizard has good speed and great Special attack and Blaziken has good speed and regular attack. Both are Powerhouses of their respective generations and when trained properly can be absolutely killer.

☼Which Fire type starter do you like the most?
The Charmander line because Charmander was the first Pokemon i ever chose and Charizard is an epic beast

☼Which Fire type legendary do you like the most?
All the fire legends didn't really appear to me, but my favourite would have to be Entei or Moltres because the first generation roamers were original how one gen was Birds and the next was land roamers

☼Which is your favourite Fire type move?
I'd have to say Eruption is my favourite, In Pokemon Ruby it used to my form of training for the league and what not on Groudon. Groudon would have made a much better fire type. Just saying :P

☼Who is your favourite Fire type Gym Leader?
I'd have to say Blaine because he has a backstory and seems more experienced. Although as stated before, his look is gross. -.-

☼According to you, which Fire type has the best shiny sprite?
This would be the best shiny sprite http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/bws/6.png

☼Do you think Fire types can be successfully used defensively? If yes, how?
I wouldn't really know because i'm not the defensive trainer, the quicker the opponent faints, the better.

Avishka February 10th, 2012 5:25 AM

☼Which Fire type starter do you like the most?
chimchar and charmander
☼Which Fire type legendary do you like the most?
Reshiram and Moltres

Other than that, everything looks great now :)

I especially love the flaming background you put up, and the introduction picture is just brilliant. Great work!

Hint, Hint; you should answer your own questions too ;P

Sayan February 10th, 2012 9:18 AM

Yeah I'm gonna do that, but actually, but right now I'm really fatigued. Well, I guess I can spare 1 answer...

Favourite Fire Starter- Blaziken. Speed Boost Blaziken's really strong and really fast at the same time (although now that it's uber, it's kinda overshadowed). In Gen3, it was the only Fire starter with some good, strong STAB moves running off its secondary type (Charizard didn't have any strong Flying moves). It was also the 1st Fire Pokemon not weak to Rock.

Lastly, (I must say this) it's a blazin kicking chicken! 'nuff said!

Welcome to FoF. Your starter, Blaziken, is the current Pokemon of the Week. You'll get bonus points for posting its pictures.

New topic of discussion-
Which Fire type Pokemon do you think are underrated or overrated?

I personally think Charizard is a little overrated. As its health gets halved by Stealth rocks, Solar Power was a pretty bad ability for it. The other Fire starters now have much nicer abilities to boot.

Victini is definitely the epitome of underrated-ness. It has good stats and a few very strong moves. Its only drawback maybe its typing and predictability.

Thank youuu. ^^

Well I think Ho-Oh is little overrated. Off course it is legendary Pokémon but it doesn't have good movepool if you catch it on Soul Silver and it is pretty easy to knock out.

And underrated Pokémon is Ponyta. Ponyta has pretty good moves actually and especially it's second and final evolution is powerful.

Sayan February 10th, 2012 10:47 PM

☼According to you, which is the strongest Fire type Pokemon?

I'd say Reshiram. It gets perfect coverage with its Fire/Dragon dual STAB and Turboblaze (to get rid of Flash Fire Heatran). It has a sky high special attack stat. It has a 130 power STAB moves with no drawbacks. What more do you want?

☼Which Fire type legendary do you like the most?

I really like Victini, the cute-looking powerhouse.

☼Which is your favourite Fire type move?

Hmmm, I'd say V-Create. It has a base power of 180 and without it Victini wouldn't be half the Pokemon it is.

Avishka February 11th, 2012 1:22 AM

☼Which is your favourite Fire type move?
I like Flamethrower. It never misses! And sometimes it causes Burning, too.

☼Who is your favourite Fire type Gym Leader?

Wow, I never really noticed Rapidash's shiny sprite. It looks really beautiful. The flaming mane now looks like smoke. Well done, Game Freak! Now please change Dragonite's shiny sprite...

Fortunately for Joel, I don't have any grudge against him, otherwise he would've woke up very confused in Cuba (a cookie if you get the reference).

So, is anyone going to submit userbars? Otherwise I'd have to make one myself and bag the 100 points.

curiousnathan February 11th, 2012 3:48 AM

In my opinion, Rapidash's shiny sprite isn't that beautiful. I find it's non-shiny sprite to be much more lively and by reducing the colour and vibrant aesthetic appeal of its flames really detracts from its overall appearance. :< I would've thought perhaps a blue or a yellow alternation would be much better suited.

Jayster23 February 11th, 2012 4:00 AM

Yeah the sliver flames make it seem Fire/Ghost type.
Blue flames would have been interesting but the unoriginal because everyone thinks opposite of red flame would be blue.

d4rka8isz February 11th, 2012 4:01 AM

I think it looks pretty amazing! Someone has offered me a shiny Rapidash on Negotiations before, but in the end he/she stopped communications. But that's beside the point. I personally think that the silver flames make Rapidash look outstanding.

I don't like Chandelure's shiny form much. It loses the ghostly look and just becomes a lantern...

Blaziken's isn't that hot either. Blaziken's just gets darker and that makes it look... weird...

curiousnathan February 11th, 2012 4:08 AM

Yeah, I don't like shiny versions that alter the Pokemon's 'lightness' like chansey or blissey. :< I find them boring, and simply uncreative. I would've preferred a normal one tbh; same goes for eevee, just makes it look all wishy-washy. :/

joelzio123 February 11th, 2012 4:15 AM

I think that Ninetales shiny form is pretty cool! Because it looks like a ghost version :P

Hey! Do you guys think Blaziken is an Uber pokemon??

Hikamaru February 11th, 2012 4:51 AM

My fave Shiny form of a Fire-type would be Magmortar cos it's PINK!

d4rka8isz February 11th, 2012 5:30 AM

Sayan, you switched the '8' and the 'a' in my name.

Sayan February 11th, 2012 5:34 AM

I've seen people go gaga over shiny Charizard, but I don't like it that much. I think the shiny versions of some Pokemon with flaming features should have blue flames. Just imagine, how cool would a blue flame Arcanine look!

@Curious- I agree, the shiny Rapidash does lose some of its brightness. But I find it more than makes up for that with its increased elegance and laid-back appearance. To each his own, I guess.

@the user with an unpronunciable username- Sorry for that, I'll fix it now. PM or VM me for these type of complaints or errors instead of posting them here.

Ninetales has always been one of my favorites and the Shiny form is an even better version! :)

Charizard isn't that great and I think its Shiny form is...overrated? To many like it for my taste.

I find the Fire type Pokemon, maybe tied with the Grass type, the most disappointing in comparing the Original vs Shiny colorings. That's just my 3rd degree.

Jayster23 February 11th, 2012 7:59 PM

I like the shiny forms of the fire types that give them more powerful appearances like Charizard, Rapidash even Typhlosion.

Blaziken doesn't give off that appeal

☼ Who is your favorite Fire type Gym leader?
My favorite is Blaine. 2nd is Flannery. We need more Fire gyms.

☼ According to you which Fire type has the best shiny sprite?
Rapidash.

☼ Do you think Fire types can be used defensively?
No, I don't think so. With weakness to Water and Ground attacks and Stealth Rock, Fire types' lifespans are limited. On the other hand, Fire is great offensively, being Super effective on Steel. It hits most of the commonly used Steel types SE, unlike Fighting and Ground, which are not SE against stuff like Skarmory and Scizor. So Fire is best used offensively.

New topic-

☼ If the legendary Fire types Ho-oh and Reshiram got into a fight, who'd win?
This one I don't really know. I can't decide.

Reshiram without a doubt!

I thought it was a rooster, and that Moltres was the Phoenix. O_O

Sayan February 14th, 2012 7:59 PM

Welcome to the club, Cosmotone8!

IIRC, Ho-oh's Japanese name Houou means 'Phoenix'. Just sayin'.

The question still hasn't been answered correctly. Fusion Bolt/Flare's base power don't get doubled, the damage they deal is doubled. The last question was very easy so I had to make this one harder.

Btw, I've modified the whole 'topics' section in the OP. Check it out.

Sorry, you're wrong. The question clearly mentions 'non STAB move', so Psychic and Fire moves are invalid.

Right you are, ma'am!

BTW I've heard that if you call Ho-oh names, the legendary beasts will come out of the tall grass and Roar at you.

Hmmm, that can be a good way to catch them. Maybe I should post this in a cheat site, I'm sure many HGSS players are dying to try it :P .

I think Ho-Oh resembles a Peacock too even though it's a Phoenix-like bird itself.

Moltres is a large bird with flame-colored plumage, resembling a Phoenix
.

Guess it's safe to say we have two Phoenix birds after all?

Sayan February 14th, 2012 9:26 PM

Yeah, let's just agree that Game Freak got out of ideas and made 2 phoenix Pokemon. They were pretty similar from the start. IIRC, in the 3rd or 4th episode of the anime Ash refers to a Moltres's picture as that of the Pokemon he saw, which was actually Ho-oh.

Blizz February 14th, 2012 9:30 PM

Let's say they both are fried chickens. :D Hard to say which one is phoenix because Moltres has the flames but Ho-Oh look pretty awesome.

Arcanine or Growlithe can be good pets as they are very loyal. Arcanine if you prefer a big and strong pet, Growlithe if you want a small and cute one. Chimchar can also be a good pet I think. It's so cute and you can probably have a lot of fun with him.

I rather catch a bus.

I don't know why, but I find both fire monkeys Chimchar and Pansear irresistably cute. So I'd definitely prefer to cuddle one of them, preferably Chimchar as the other one wouldn't hear my calls and commands.

I love Ho-oh as it is quite nostalgic to me as it was the first ever legendary pokemon I obtained, however, I wish the sprite was more elegant as it represented in the games and anime. Like you mentioned, Ho-oh looks like its rushing somewhere, and to me, it seems as though its trying really hard to stay airborne, which for me doesn't represetn grace, elegance.

So based of this, Moltres, I do prefer in this case based on their sprites.' Not as them as Pokemon however.

Charizard, simply because of the fact that it can fly! If you're running late for school Charizard will get you there fast as and it's also a babe magnet i mean how many other kids have a Charizard? Also if someone were to rob your house they'll turn around once they see that beast of a Pokemon

One problem is you wouldn't have much area to keep it in a standard neighbourhood house, so you may need to move up to the mountains and keep it in a cave :/

Well, back in the 'old' days of Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow (when I was heaps younger) I mainly thought of the 'cuteness' of the pokemon - of course, all three were rather cute.
I was never a squirtle fan really (dunno why)
Bulbasaur was my favourite for a while, but then, I gave charmander a go...
and it turned out to be just the most awesomest pokemon I could've picked!
Cause I had to train it up heaps to be able to defeat Brock, it made it so it was pretty strong early in the game, and that helped a bit later on.
So yeah, my Charmander obsession has just sort of 'stuck' ever since the beginnings of my pokemon journey. XD

Wish I still had all mine.

I would loved to use Charizard in the original Red/Blue games again for sure.

Typhlosion was alright, I think he's better than Charizard (Same stats in 5th Gen also, lesser movepool but no 4x Weakness either, plus Earthquake can hurt it). That's just my opinion though. Blaziken, I fell in love with when Ruby/Sapphire was released. I didn't like Infernape in 4th Generation but still chose him and prefer him over the other 2 of Torterra/Empoleon. and Emboar
- the only Fire Starter Pokemon I never chose, and I passionately hate the look of it. Thank goodness for Seperior, FTW!

I also chose the Blaziken line in Ruby and Emerald. I liked the fact that unlike Charmander, Torchic could evolve into Combusken and become neutral to Rock. My Combusken nailed Roxanne's Pokemon with Stab Double Kick.

But 3 Fire/Fighting starters in 3 consecutive generations is a little too much, I think.

Well, there have been other types that show up a lot... If you count them up, Dragon is leading with 6 while Fire has 3. Water has 4 and Flying has 4 as well. Electric somehow has 2 Pokemon on the box art. Most people just look at the Dragon type when a dual type mascot comes up, but in truth, there are a lot of mascots with different types.

Name- ShinyHoundoom
Starter- Dualith the Houndoom
Reason for joining- I've always had a place in my pokeheart for fire types. If I don't start with a fire type, I will use a fire type in the game
Referred by- No one

Just to know a bit more about me I'll answer some questions.

☼ Which is the strongest Fire type Pokemon?
To me it's a tie between Reshiram and Ho-oh. Both of them are very powerful and have their weakness

☼ Which Fire type starter is the best?
Blaziken. Fire/Fighting is a combination that I like.

☼ Which Fire type legendary is the best?
As I said before tie between Reshiram and Ho-oh. Heatran is also good.

☼ Which is your favourite Fire type move?
The classic Flamethrower.

☼ Who the best Fire type Gym Leader?
The original Fire gym leader, Blane.

☼ Which Fire type has the best shiny sprite?
Houndoom, Rapidash, and Ninetales

☼ Do you think Fire types can successfully be used defensively?
No. Most of the better Fire types are frail. Those that are defensive have some bad weaknesses.

☼ Which Fire Pokemon are overrated or underrated?

Overrated: Charizard, Infernape, Ho-oh, Reshiram
Underrated: Ninetails, Arcanine, Typhlosion, Houndoom

☼* If the Fire types Ho-oh and Reshiram got into a fight, who'd win?
Hard to answer that one

☼* Which Fire Pokemon would make the best real-world pet?
Torchic, Growlithe and Flareon

☼* Is Rotom-Heat better as Electric/Fire or was it better as Electric/Ghost?
Electric/Fire for STAB.

☼* Dragon are often associated with Fire, but there's only 1 Fire/Dragon Pokemon. Should there be more?

Not really.

Infernape isn't that overrated.

Well, it's more towards the Metagame (Wi-fi) that makes me say Infernape is overrated. Look at that thing! Such a big movepool and stats spread out so nicely that it can do quite a few things. Maybe it's not so much seen in 5th gen but it was big (and very hyped) in 4th gen at least from what I saw.

Sayan February 25th, 2012 11:46 PM

Welcome to the club, Limanya and ShinyHoundoom!

To tell the truth, the 5th gen Metagame isn't very kind to Fire types in general with Rain and Sand running rampant. But Infernape, IMO can definitely be an asset to a team if played right. You can no longer use it like 4th gen. Focus Sash lead sets are not so viable, as leads don't exist anymore, and if you don't lead with Infernape it's more than likely your Sash'd be broken by Rocks or Sandstorm. Where it shines, however, is wallbreaking. Fire/Fighting Stab lets it punch huge holes in Ferrothorn, Tyranitar, Blissey, Chansey, Skarmory, Porygon2 and a LOT other 'mons. It's also a surprisingly good revenge killer and priority user. So I don't see why Infernape shouldn't deserve some love.

In Diamond i chose Chimchar as a starter, Inferno is now level 100, and i beat the e4 with Infernape, Alakazam and Staraptor. Trained them a lot of course. But Infernape is one of my favorite Fire type Pokemon :)

Thank you for letting me join. I think I will have fun here

Infernape does deserve it, but at least in 4th gen it was getting too much. If anyone was going to use a Fire type more often than not it was Infernape even though Heatran was another good option from the OU tier. It kinda also made Blaziken look really bad in comparison. Now with dream world abilities around Blaziken shot up in useability. Heck I might even say that Blaziken is a little overrated. Would Blaziken really have this much praise (that it gets banned in Metagame) if Speed Boost wasn't it's dream world ability?
