I've gotten started on a monocolor black run on Y, first update:

» Started up the game and chose Froakie as my starter.
» Fast forward to Route 2, where I caught a Scatterbug named Rainbow to use temporarily until I could catch Snorlax.
» I levelled Rainbow up to evolve her into Vivillon (I know it’s been retconned to white, but I’ll count it as black for this run) before challenging and defeating Viola.
» I swiftly made my way to Camphrier Town and resolved the whole Poké Flute ordeal. I then used said flute to catch my first official team member, Snaxy the Snorlax.
» Continued towards Ambrette and caught Veenak the Seviper on the way. I also stopped by Glittering Cave and caught a Mawile that I named Munroe.
» Trained them up a bit and then headed towards Cyllage City. I was a bit worried about Grant, but Veenak was very helpful with Glare and Screech.
» After obtaining the second badge, I continued north and caught an Eevee named Midnight. I cycled around for a bit to raise its happiness and shortly thereafter it evolved into Umbreon.
» Once in Geosenge Town, I was challenged by Korrina. Again, Veenak’s Glare and Screech came in handy in securing me the win.
» After the battle, I trekked through Reflection Cave and wound up in Shalour City, where I challenged Korrina once again. Veenak and Munroe were the MVPs of this battle.
» With a third badge in possession, I did the whole Tower of Mastery stuff and then continued towards Coumarine.
» Caught a Chatot named Chatterley along the way. Currently saved in Coumarine.

Second and final update for black on Y!

» Challenged the gym. Chatterley utterly demolished Ramos with Chatter, which grew stronger thanks to the Metronome it held when I caught it.
» Went south, raided the Power Plant, then arrived in Lumiose City.
» I was a bit nervous about facing Clemont, mainly because I didn’t really have any good counters for Electric-types. The original plan was to have Munroe work some magic with Power-Up Punch, but she couldn’t survive a Thunderbolt from Magneton in Electric Terrain. Instead, Snaxy had to get the job done with the help of Amnesia and Body Slam.
» With a fifth badge in hand, I continued towards Laverre, where I faced off against Valerie. Sadly, Munroe didn’t have any Steel-type moves and sending out Veenak didn’t seem like a good idea since she had both Mawile and Mr. Mime. The entire team had to help out before Veenak could safely fire off some Poison Tail attacks against Sylveon and secure the win.
» Continued towards Dendemille and caught my final team member, Envexia the Litwick. Once in Dendemille, I headed north to Frost Cavern where Team Flare caused some trouble. Fought them off and then arrived in Anistar City after a trek through the snow.
» Battled Serena outside the gym, and she easily went down. Next up was Olympia, and surprisingly, her Pokémon don’t have any counters to Dark-types – meaning I could let Midnight do most of the work, though Envexia and Munroe also had to help.
» After this, I had to fight off Team Flare and prevent them from destroying the world. Once that was over, I continued to Snowbelle via Couriway Town.
» I had to go find Wulfric in the Pokémon Village before I could face him. Once back at the gym, I challenged him and utterly destroyed him. Snaxy with Power-Up Punch, Heavy Slam and Thick Fat made that happen.
» Following this, I could now continue to the Elite Four by going through Victory Road.
» Having made my way there, I started off by challenging Malva. Again, Snaxy was just too powerful – Belly Drum, Earthquake and Thick Fat worked wonders.
» I was planning on using the same strategy for Wikstrom, but his Aegislash defeated Snaxy with Sacred Sword. Envexia and Munroe had to clean up after him.
» Drasna also required a team effort – I was originally counting on Munroe to get the job done, but that plan failed after her Noivern fired off a Flamethrower. Veenak and Snaxy had to help to secure the win.
» Siebold was actually somewhat challenging, mainly because I didn’t have anything super effective against Water-types (bar Energy Ball, but I’m not crazy enough to send out Envexia here), and also because nothing on my team resisted Water-type moves. I had to rely on some healing and getting in a few hits here and there to win against him.
» Last up was Diantha, the champion! I was able to defeat her fairly easily, but she also managed to KO some of my Pokémon. In the end, I prevailed!
» At the parade, I also defeated AZ.

This was the first playthrough where I honestly felt pretty tired of Kalos. Next monocolor run will probably be in Alola, though I haven’t fully decided on what game and color yet.

Oh hai there.
I was thinking about doing a mono-green run on Omega Ruby.
I have some questions.
I plan to choose Treecko cause...it's green. However, I have a couple of other green 'mons just floatin' around pokebank from previous Omega Ruby runs. Can I use them?
Also, if a Pokemon faints, does that means it's "dead" and you must release it?
Thank you for answering my questions in advance.

1. You can only trade in pokemon if you can't get a pokemon before the 2nd gym, which as you've stated with Treecko, you can. You can also trade in version exclusives that are your colour, which in your case is only Ludicolo as far as I can see. So if you have non-Ludicolo green pokemon in your pokebank, you can't use them.

2. If your pokemon faints it isn't dead; this isn't a nuzlocke. You can use nuzlocke rules if you want though, I guess.

I decided to give Alola a shot after having done Kalos consecutively for so long. I’m currently doing a brown monocolor run of Ultra Sun.

» Started up the game and was immediately ambushed by a Yungoos. Luckily, Kukui was there to give me a Pokémon I could use for protection. I chose Rowlet and named it Rowan.
» I think I saved Nebby and then went to Kukui’s lab or something? Anyway, when my real adventure had started, I wanted to expand my team right away by adding a Pichu. Once I found one, I caught it and named it Coconut.
» After the festival, I made my way to Hau’oli and took care of the whole school ordeal. This made it possible for me to battle Ilima. Frankly, this was a bit tricky – I was extremely close to defeating him on the first try, but his Smeargle got lucky and burned Rowan, which was just enough to knock me out before the final blow. I actually had to grind a bit to be able to beat him, but I worked it out.
» My victory granted me access to the more northern part of the island, where my first trial awaited me. After a simple puzzle and beating up some Team Skull goons, I made it to the trial site to battle the totem Gumshoos.
» Coconut was very useful here with Charm and Static, but Rowan was responsible for the majority of the damage output. Having taken Gumshoos down, I had now cleared my first trial in Alola.
» This allowed me to progress further and help Lillie save Nebby in some cave. There was also some weird-looking space guy named Dulse that I defeated.
» I was now ready to take on the island kahuna, Hala. As with totem Gumshoos, Coconut’s Charm and Static worked wonders here, securing me the win and a Fightinium Z.
» Kukui informed me that I could now ride on a Mantine to another island, which I did. Once on Akala island, I met Dexio and Sina, the former of whom I battled and defeated easily.
» Continuing towards Paniola Town, I traversed through Route 4 and caught a Mudbray on the way that I named Walnut.
» Soon thereafter, I arrived in Paniola and faced off against Hau. The entire team put in effort to defeat him, and after that I decided to save.

Hey everyone, I've updated the champions list up to this post. Life's been pretty busy lately, but I'm hoping to continue my green monocolor soon.

Chevitile November 23rd, 2019 1:06 PM

I completed my monocolor brown run of Ultra Sun the other day. Because it's quite a lot of progress to cover, I'll just run through the most important parts of each island.

Spoiler:

Akala Island:
» Caught a Tauros that I named Hornbeam, and battled Gladion before advancing to Lana’s trial site.
» Against totem Araquanid, Rowan, Coconut and Hornbeam all had to cooperate to bring home the victory.
» Continued towards Kiawe’s trial via Royal Avenue. Once at the site, I faced off against totem Marowak. Hornbeam and Coconut lowered its stats enough for Walnut to be able to take it down.
» Made my way towards the final trial, located in Lush Jungle. I mainly used the same strategy as with totem Marowak, substituting Walnut for Rowan.
» At Memorial Hill, I battled Olivia. She was tougher than expected, but Hornbeam’s newly acquired Smart Strike sealed the deal.
» Before sailing to Ula’ula, I grabbed a Dome Fossil from Poké Pelago. Named the newly revived Kabuto Carapa.

Ula’ula Island + Aether Paradise:
» Upon arrival, Hau challenged me and was beaten fairly quickly.
» Hopped on a bus, got to Mount Hokulani and beat the totem Togedemaru. I don’t remember much of the battle, but I can’t imagine it was too difficult given that I had Walnut.
» After the trial, I made my way towards Tapu Village. On the way, I caught a Torkoal that I named Viburnum.
» I also don’t remember much of the battle against totem Mimikyu, except that it was pretty tough. Nevertheless, I was able to clear the trial.
» Headed north and raided Po Town, finding Guzma at the end. He proved to be challenging, but found himself defeated in the end.
» Battled Nanu before sailing to Aether Paradise. Once there, I defeated grunts left and right and also battled Faba, Guzma and Lusamine. This allowed me to continue to Poni Island.

Poni Island + the Pokémon League:
» Headed to Exeggutor Island to retrieve the Sun Flute.
» The trek to the Altar of the Sunne was interrupted by a trial against Totem Kommo-o. No real strategy was involved, but I lowered both its Attack and Speed stats to make it more manageable. A team effort was required to pull this off.
» Lillie and I continued to the altar, where Nebby evolved into Solgaleo and then fused with Necrozma. Coconut and Viburnum took it down, and then we headed to Ultra Megalopolis by riding on a Lunala.
» Admittedly, I had no clue what I would do against Ultra Necrozma. Lowering its stats might’ve been helpful, provided I could actually outspeed it and some point… which I couldn’t. Once it was out of Photon Geyser, however, Rowan could tank its attacks and defeat it with Shadow Ball.
» Peace was restored, and it was now time for my final trial. This trial entailed collecting different color petals from previous trial captains, so I got to work and presented Mina with all seven after a while.
» Doing so triggered the battle against the final totem Pokémon, Ribombee. This was a tricky one. It took quite a few Revives and Hyper Potions, but it eventually went down.
» Hapu, the final island kahuna, awaited me on Exeggutor Island. Rowan obliterated most of her team with Leaf Blade, but Hornbeam had to help against Flygon.
» My journey was finally nearing its end – all that was left was Mount Lanakila and the Pokémon League. After traversing through the mountain and finalizing movesets, I was ready for the final battles.
» First up was Molayne. Viburnum and Walnut handled most of his team, but Rowan had to help against Magnezone.
» I thought Rowan could solo Olivia, but that was easier said than done. Three of her Pokémon took neutral damage from Grass-moves, so Walnut had to help secure the win.
» Other than Palossand, Acerola didn’t provide much of a challenge.
» Lastly, there was Kahili. Carapa was the MVP here, but Coconut and Hornbeam also put in some work.
» Only one battle between me and the throne! Against none other than Hau. Complete cakewalk, save for Tauros against whom I didn’t have any real counter. Nevertheless, I defeated Hau and became Alola’s first-ever champion.

Completed the run in a few days.

"Short" summary:
Spoiler:
-Started the run, picked Piplup and ran through to Oreburgh to get my first team members: Elinvar the Machop and Inconel the Onix.
-I primarily used Elinvar for the first 3 gyms because Onix is such a weak pokemon. Roark was easy, Gardenia I managed to get really lucky with a crit on Revenge and for Fantina I had to get lucky with Thief.
-Elinvar eventually evolved into a Machoke and at Lvl37, I evolved Inconel into a Steelix
-With evolved pokemon, the next gym was very simple: Maylene went down to Inconel's Dig and Elinvar's Revenge.
-Crasher Wake was a bit more difficult since Inconel was weak to water, so Elinvar had to muscle through was Cross Chop. I got really lucky with a critical on his Gyarados which allowed me to win.
-At this point, I evolved Elinvar into a Machamp at Lvl42.
-Now with surf, I finally got my next 2 team members: Guanin the Glameow through an egg and Electrum the Magnemite.
-After grinding and fully evolving Guanin to a Purugly and Electrum to a Magnezone, I went off to Canalave.
-Byron was relatively simple since I had fighting and ground moves, as well as having access to Fire Punch with Elinvar.
-After cleaning up Lake Valor and Verity, I hopped over to Route 216 to get my next team member: Bismanol the Snorunt who I quickly evolved into a Glalie.
-I was so overlevelled at this point that I basically ran through the remainder of the game relatively easily.
-Candice was simple due to my fighting moves, again, and Volkner was simple due to Inconel's Earthquake.
-After trekking through Victory Road, I made it to the Pokemon League and took on the Elite Four.
-Aaron went down to rock moves, Bertha I used Bismanol's Ice Beam, Flint was a combination of rock and ground moves and Lucian was easy to handle thanks to Guanin's Shadow Claw.
-Cynthia was a bit more difficult, especially her Lucario which was faster than my entire team and had neutral coverage. Eventually, I managed to win after a reset.
-After getting the National Dex, I got a Claw Fossil from the underground and revived it to get Melchior the Anorith, which I spent 400 hours grinding up to match my team's levels, evolving into Armaldo in the process.
-I then ran through the Post Game. I was not as overlevelled as I had been in the end of the main game, so I still had a bit of trouble, especially with some of the Ace Trainers and Veterans.
-After completing the Stark Mountain side quest, I took on the Elite Four rematches.
-I was more underlevelled compared to the first time, which made the League much more difficult to beat. Cynthia's Lucario again caused much trouble, so I had to stall it for quite a while before I managed to finally beat her.

Team:
Elinvar the Machamp (M), Lvl69: Cross Chop, Brick Break, Rock Slide, Fire Punch
-The MVP for the first half of the game. Had very high attack, so he was very reliable even in the end game and in the post game.
Inconel the Steelix (F), Lvl68: Stone Edge, Iron Tail, Earthquake, Rock Smash
-Inconel was so bad as an Onix; why does it only have 45 base attack? After evolving, she became so much better thanks to her monstrous
defense which helped with stalling some more difficult opponents. Her low accuracy moves did made her an unreliable attacker though.
Guanin the Purugly (F), Lvl69: Body Slam, Shadow Claw, Aerial Ace, Hypnosis
-Basically the main reason I did a gray run was to use Purugly. I expected her to be pretty lackluster, but her Hypnosis saved me so many times.
While her attacking stats weren't as impressive as the rest of the team, putting things to sleep was such a great utility that I really appreciated
having her on the team.
Electrum the Magnezone (X), Lvl68: Thunderbolt, Flash Cannon, Tri Attack, Thunder Wave
-Magnezone is such a great pokemon in general. Thanks to its great typing, Electrum could just come in and just take hits without a problem. Its
excellent special attack was also a godsend, allowing me to take out foes with relative ease.
Bismanol the Glalie (F), Lvl69: Ice Beam, Dark Pulse, Water Pulse, Protect
-While not terrible, Bismonal was probably the worst member of my team. She just couldn't get the KO, always leaving a sliver a health in her
opponents. This was especially not helpful against Cynthia's Garchomp. Again, not terrible, just not as good as the others.
Melchior the Armaldo (M), Lvl69: Brick Break, Rock Slide, Aqua Tail, X-Scissor
-A great addition to the team. He really helped in the post game with his Aqua Tail and X-Scissor. Great attack meant he KO'd pretty much
everything he attacked.

Overall, a pretty solid team.

First update for my monocolor black run of Ultra Sun.

» Started up the game and shortly thereafter caught a Pikipek that I named Pickety. Not long after, I caught two official team members: Mozzarella the Alolan Rattata and Blackout the Murkrow. Pickety stayed for a while, as it had helpful coverage with Rock Smash.
» Totem Gumshoos wasn’t too difficult. Blackout’s Haze got rid of its stat boost, and then Pickety’s Rock Smash both dealt damage and lowered its Defense. Mozzarella then secured the KO with Bite.
» Blackout took care of Hala’s Machop and Makuhita, but fell to Crabrawler’s Z-Move. The rest of the team had to help out here.
» Totem Araquanid required me to be more strategic. First, Mozzarella lowered its speed with Scary Face, allowing Pickety to outspeed and lower its defense with Rock Smash. In turn, Blackout could now two-shot it with Wing Attack. The ally Dewpider defeated Blackout, so Mozzarella finished it off with a Bite.
» Went straight towards Wela Volcano Park and Route 7 to add two new team members: Rouge the Salandit and Minrin the Pyukumuku.
» Totem Marowak turned out to be much easier than anticipated, with Mozzarella putting in a lot of work.
» Per usual in totem battles, Mozzarella lowered Lurantis’ speed with Scary Face. I then took advantage of the sun set up by the ally Kecleon and 2-hit KO’d Lurantis with Rouge’s Flame Burst. Blackout finished off the Kecleon, meaning I was now done with the trials on Akala Island.
» Before I could move on, I had to face Olivia, the island kahuna. Minrin took care of Anorith with Bide, and then the entire team had to take down Lileep. Finally, Minrin defeated Lycanroc using Counter.

Ultimate Mono-Color Blue Run

Finally finished the Kanto portion of my run. Picked Azul the Squirtle as my starter (obviously). Stopped off by route 22 to catch Mavi the Nidoran♀ who later evolved into Nidorina and then Nidoqueen in Mt. Moon. I skipped over Cerulean to mix things up and get badges in a different order than usual. After obtaining cut from the S.S. Anne, I then remembered that I needed to beat Misty in order to progress, so she ended up giving me my second badge anyway. I lopped through Rock Tunnel and Lavender Town on my way to Celadon, where I obtained Sininen the Eevee. I quickly ran to the store for a water stone to evolve him into Vaporeon. I stopped at the game corner to do some gambling, hoping to get a Dratini. After a couple hours I decided that I suck at gambling and moved on with my life. I Defeated Giovanni for the first time then cleared Pokémon Tower, Mavi did the majority of the work, she had pretty much been carrying the team up to this point. I then made my way to Fuschia City where I snagged a Horsea at the beach and a Dratini in the safari zone. They were named Sifa and Neela respectively.

Now having five of my team slots filled and nowhere left to travel on land, the time had come to start gathering badges. I went back to Celadon to obtain a TM containing Ice Beam for Sifa, then used Erika's precious plants as target practice to make Sifa a more viable team member. Then came Lt. Victim *cough* I mean Surge who made a decent practice dummy for getting Neela some exp. I did some training outside Fuschia to get my team leveled evenly at about 35 if I remember correctly. We then made easy work of Koga and his weak toxins. Finally completing my swimming lessons and learning how to move rocks weighing more than 10 lbs, it was time to travel to the Seafoam Islands and add team member #6. Venturing deep into the cave, I found the majestic ice chicken and trapped the legendary creature within a tiny ball. Caeruleum the Articuno was now mine. I then flew to Pallet Town and made my way to Cinnabar and defeated Blaine. I stopped by the mansion to round my team off to level 40 then finally decided that Saffron needed to be rid of Team Rocket. Some rando in Silph Co. offered me a Lapras, but who needs an off-brand Loch Ness monster when you have a majestic ice chicken? I proved to Sabrina that spoon bending isn't as fancy as my card tricks then flew back to Viridian to kick Giovanni's butt one more time.

After painstakingly showing multiple guards my badges I made it to the Indigo Plateau to end phase one of my quest. I spent some time training in Victory Road to get my team up to level 50, but got tired of waiting and decided to take on the Elite Four anyway, figuring my team would get to a minimum of 50 by battling there anyway. Surprisingly I made it to Lance with only a single Pokémon, Mavi, fainting. Lance managed to take Azul down with his Gyarados, but Neela and Cearuleum swept through the rest of his team. Restoring my team with my overstocked potions and revives, as well as finally using the six rare candies I finally remembered were sitting in my bag, I was ready to take on the champion. Blue's Alakazam was the hardest one to beat, but Azul whittled down its health with Bubblebeam. I finished embarassing Blue in front of his grandfather with Caeruleum using Sky Attack on his Venusaur. Victory was mine. Now on to Johto.

Second and final update for my monocolor black challenge on Ultra Sun.

Ula'ula Island + Aether Paradise:
» Before heading to Ula’ula, I visited Aether Paradise and battled Nihilego.
» Battled Hau and then headed up to Hokulani Observatory, where the next trial awaited me. Rouge easily handled totem Togedemaru and the ally Skarmory with Nasty Plot and Flame Burst.
» I was a bit worried about totem Mimikyu, but Rouge’s Toxic was very helpful. Minrin used Curse a few times and was thus able to tank Mimikyu’s attacks, and it eventually fainted from Toxic damage. Rouge then finished off the ally Banette.
» Now inhabited by Pokémon, Thrifty Megamart was home to my next team member, Shuppet. Caught one and named it Bottle.
» Traded over an egg containing a Baltoy, since it’s a version exclusive. Once it hatched, I named it Zero.
» Headed north towards Po Town, where I battled a bunch of Team Skull grunts as well as Guzma.
» After this raid, I battled Nanu at the harbor and then sailed to Aether Paradise.
» Plenty of battles were fought here, including Faba and Lusamine.

Poni Island + the Pokémon League:
» Once all of that was taken care of, I could continue to Poni Island, where my final trials awaited me.
» I first battled Totem Kommo-o at Vast Poni Canyon. I had good coverage for this battle, so it wasn’t too bad.
» Climbed up the stairs and did the whole Ultra Space thing. Ultra Necrozma was challenging, but eventually saw itself defeated. I then returned to Poni Island for my final trial.
» After battling Mina, she informed me that her trial required me to collect flower petals from previous trial captains. I went around and collected them, and then brought them to her.
» This triggered the final totem battle, against Ribombee. Despite its Quiver Dances, it was knocked out by my team.
» With all trials completed, it was time for the Pokémon League.
» Zero and Rouge tag teamed to defeat Molayne.
» Olivia was mostly taken care of by Zero, but some additional help was required by the rest of the team as well.
» Acerola was defeated quite easily by Mozzarella, Rouge and Blackout.
» Kahili required a team effort and quite a few potions to bring down, but it eventually worked out.
» The battle against Hau was a bit easier than anticipated. Some of his Pokémon were OHKO’s, whereas others, like Vaporeon and Tauros, required a bit more effort to take down. Once his team was defeated, I become Alola’s first-ever Champion!

Well, time for me to bust out the new games and really give them a proper chance! This will be my first Sword/Shield challenge so here goes.

Username: Pendraflare (was Swagroar but am now my trademark again)
Color: Blue
Game: Blue, Soul Silver, Alpha Sapphire, Platinum, Black 2, X, Moon, Sword
Ultimate: Yes

Spoiler:
So I started the game, chose the girl and named her Clarence. After all the opening stuff I chose Sobble. I beat Hop with it, and then caught a Rookidee and Blipbug before getting to the lab and meeting Professor Magnolia and Sonia. And beating Hop again. Eventually we reached Monostoke, and later on Turffield. I caught a handful of Pokémon, including Wooper, Tympole, Grubbin, Milcery and Woobat. As the time came for Milo, Grubbin handled his Gossifluer easily enough, but Eldegoss Dynamaxed and beat me in two turns then OHKO'd Blipbug before reverting to normal. Woobat beat away at it with Air Cutter, eventually finishing the job and getting me the Grass Badge. That leaves Hulbury next!

Sword Blue Mono-Color Update #2
Spoiler:
So I was able to get to Hulbury and beat Nessa's Gym. Charjabug made her first two easy, but for Drednaw i waited until she wasn't Dynamaxed anymore, and a Wobbuffet I caught neat that with Counter. Kabu soon after I used Drizzile, just Dynamaxed and destroyed him in three turns. And I caught a Sawk, and got the fossils necessary to get Arctozolt. And the Thunder Stone to get Vikavolt. I also dropped Milcery given the sweet needed to evolve it into the right one I found out is quite rare. I switch training to get Arctozolt up faster when possible. Hop at Stow-on-Side wasn't too tough but did deal some damage. Bea, however, was harder. Her Hitmontop lived a +2 Pluck from Corvisquire, but I handled that. Pandora was easy work for Sawk. Sirfetch'd was a little tougher, but I had Swoobat for that. Machamp dealt some damage too but I did beat it. Bede was a little tricky. That left me to go about.

Nice to see you again, Pendraflare! Hope you’ve been doing well.

I got started on a mono gray challenge on Ultra Sun, so here’s the first update on that.

» Started up the game and did all the mandatory beginning stuff. Caught a Grubbin, Zorua and Magnemite that I named Anhydrite, Obsidian and Chromium, respectively. Only Zorua will stay a permanent team member, but I think the others can have some uses too.
» Continued towards Hau’oli and beat Ilima at the docks.
» My first trial took place at Verdant Cavern, where I faced off against Totem Gumshoos. All of my team members had helpful status moves in for example Fake Tears, String Shot and Thunder Wave, which made it considerably easier to defeat both of my opponents.
» Lillie ran off to somewhere, so I went to hunt her down. After finding her at Melemele Meadow, I entered Seaward Cave and defeated Dulse.
» I was now able to take on Hala, the Island Kahuna. I quickly realized that this would be impossible with my current team’s levels, so I levelled up Grubbin to Lv 19, where it learned Acrobatics. This made it significantly easier to defeat Hala.
» Swiftly visited the Alola Photo Club before I travelled to Akala Island on a Mantine.
» Saved in Heahea City.

  • After the battle, Lancelot evolved into Quilladin!
  • Got through Route 4, to Lumiose City, where I got my second team member, Bruteroot the Bulbasaur.
  • Trained Bruteroot up and he quickly evolved into Ivysaur.
  • Moved on to Route 6, did the Parfum Palace plot and send Snorlax back to the mountains.
  • Defeated Trevor and Tierno on Route 7 alongside Calem, then moved on through Connecting Cave and Route 8 to Ambrette Town.
  • Got through Glittering Cave to find the Scientist, then moved on to Cyllage City and Route 10.
  • Caught Austin the Hawlucha and Malivore the Golett.
  • After a bit of training, I took on the gym. Grant wasn't too much trouble with Austin's Karate Chop.

Second update for my monocolor gray challenge on Ultra Sun.

» Battled Dexio in front of the Tide Song Hotel, and then continued towards Paniola Town. Once there, I battled Hau.
» A bit further up north, Gladion wanted to battle me, so I made quick work of him before heading to Brooklet Hill for the next trial.
» Totem Araquanid was definitely challenging, what with the rain, its Wacan Berry and +1 Speed. This required me to try out some different strategies, which was honestly pretty fun! The winning strategy had Obsidian lower its Sp. Def with Fake Tears, whereafter Chromium could fire off a Thunder Shock, making the Araquanid consume its berry. Then Anhydrite had to come in and Revive Chromium, who had fainted. This made it possible to finish off both Araquanid and its ally Dewpider.
» Next, I made my way to Royal Avenue, battling and defeating Dulse’s Poipole on the way.
» Participated in a Battle Royale and then headed north to the next trial site, Wela Volcano Park.
» Totem Marowak was impossible to defeat with my current team. Its +2 Speed boost and move coverage meant it OHKO’d everything on my team. This really left me no choice but to grind Obsidian to Lv 30, where it evolved into Zoroark. The battle was pretty uneventful as a result of this, but I quite literally had no other option.
» With Marowak defeated, I could continue to the next Trial Site. I caught a Wimpod along the way that I named Titanium.
» Surprisingly, Totem Lurantis was harder than anticipated, given my high-levelled team members. Sunny Day and Solar Blade/Synthesis resulted in a pretty challenging battle, but my team pulled through in the end.
» Up next was the island kahuna, Olivia. I found her at Akala Outskirts and defeated her easily with Chromium. Around this time I had pretty much decided to make Chromium a permanent member of the team, probably replacing Obsidian, but I’ll see later on what happens.
» Sailed to Aether Paradise and defeated Nihilego.
» Arrived in Malie City, beat Hau and then went to Malie Garden to find Kukui. Also spent some time grinding Titanium up to Lv 30, so I could get Golisopod.
» Saved in Malie City.
