These aren't for the challenge, but eh.
CP for twisted and the new events. I have a lot more wondercards to RNG. I don't know what natures yet.

I'll say it here as well -- nice RNGs, Meli! I have a few to do, not as many as you of course. On my Black I still have V-Create Victini, Mewtwo, and now Zekrom to do. Can't be bothered to do 5th gen right now. :(

5th gen is too easy anyway. xD I'm going back to Diamond and Pearl now. I just wanted to do the events and twisted's CP. 4th gen forever. <3

OK, it is too easy. I forgot that I didn't pick up Mewtwo yet for White but I decided to keep it. I did both of these in five minutes.

Actually, I know that it's for any Wild Pokemon encounter. And I pretty much know that I don't have to advance frames using this method...I know you'd ask..."Why would you put it in here when you know you don't want to use this way to advance frames?" I kinda just put it up instantly, I guess. Well, so to RNG the Pokemon I'd like...I would hit a certain time and delay, do some Prof. Elm calls to check whether I got the time and delay (but mostly delay) correct and if I didn't get it right, I'd start again. Advance frames after finding out that it's correct (would you have to subtract the number of frames you'd have to go through with the number of Prof. Elm calls that I did? Because 1 Prof. Elm call advances the frame by 1. And also...I would also have to subtract the frame's number by 1, right?), walk around until you encounter a Pokemon (assuming that I won't use Sweet Scent, otherwise I'd have to go through a calculation that is time-consuming and confusing), catch the Pokemon (unless if the Pokemon you encountered isn't the species you'd like), check whether the IVs are correct and you're done (unless if the IVs are incorrect)..right?

The new RNG reporter makes using Sweet Scent a lot easier, so you need to go ahead and do that. You use Elm Calls to verify your seed, yes, that is correct. You can paste your seed hex into the main screen of RNG reporter and choose Method K (HGSS) and then hit generate. This will show you the elm responses all the way up to your target frame. Keep on calling elm until you are one below your target frame and then use sweet scent. You should get the Pokemon that you desire.

For example, if your pokemon is on frame 20, you would need to call Elm until you are on frame 19. Then you use Sweet Scent and your Pokemon appears.

Good luck.

You might need a tutor for that. Going from 5th to 4th can be difficult on your own... trust me, I know. I taught myself :( Also, love EonTimer... it is now your new best friend.

I'm getting down to the wire on this one, but clocking in still by the deadline.. *whew*.

First off, as I stated previously my goal for this challenge was a Porygon from the trophy garden. I felt it would be easy for my first wild RNG because of the lack of NPC's to mess up the frames on me. I also wanted this to be in a premier ball... I realized once I was facing it though.... that OOPS, I forgot my false swiper, and I only had one Premier Ball... but I still got it. Boy do I feel accomplished... Thanks for all the help everyone who helped me with this one. I think I still prefer breeding, but it's nice to know I can do the wild encounters now as well.

Looks good -- congratulations. I had to think a bit about Porygon and Team Rocket, but in the original games it was a gift at the Rocket Game Corner and Bulbapedia notes that this could indicate possible Team Rocket involvement. Accepted ;)

I will be granting a three hour extension on this challenge in hopes that more people will be able to complete it! This challenge is up at 3am UTC-4 on March 12, 2012.

... ... ...Actually, I think I should do 18, not 19 (if my frame's 20). It's to prevent going too much if my Sweet Scent advances the frame by 2 instead of 1. Actually, if you encounter a wild Pokemon, would your current frame increase?

Squirrel March 12th, 2012 2:39 AM

I managed to get the challenge done! I'm not certain whether or not it's on time, but I bred a Koffing. Non-shiny, flawless IVs, no interesting moves... So yeah, that's done! And I named it Jamesy <3 Still haven't managed to get to grips with rod abuse though - nothing bites even after trying what Greg said D:

If you do that you won't get your Pokemon. Go to frame 19 then sweet scent.

I was going by the plot line of "Electric Soldier Pokemon" as described on Bulbapedia:
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/EP038

as well as the list of Pokemon used by Jessie as listed on Bulbapedia [Jessie being my favorite team rocket member].

Although since the episode was never aired outside of Japan, I do like your logic on allowing Porygon much better than using the episode plot line.

On to the third challenge...
Hmmm... Tough Choice... The Fairy Egg Group is my favorite, and many of them have gained a baby evolution later... Hmmm... So are we supposed to RNG the original Pokemon, or the baby form? I'm thinking between Pikachu, Cleffairy, and Chansey right now [even though I did a Chansey recently... I think I want to try to catch one with a Lucky Egg]

Question:
Is there a way to RNG a held item? Is this somehow related to encounter slots, or is this an aspect of RNG we can't predict?

I think that depends on the PID. Certain PID gives you pokemon that holding items.
I miss so many stuffs T_T

Ok... If that is true. RNG Reporter tells us the PID for the Pokemon we're going for, do we have a way of knowing if that PID would result in a Pokemon with a held item? I assume it would be more complicated because, if we look at say Chansey as an example:
50% of her hold an oval stone.
5% hold a Lucky Egg
The remaining 45% hold nothing.

:-( I wonder if I just need to keep catching her over and over till I find that Lucky Egg.

Cordelia March 12th, 2012 11:51 AM

You can RNG the baby Pokemon or the original Pokemon, Ringo. And I know research is being done on held items... but I don't think it's complete.

Catching her over then. RNG just to get a held item does not worth it.

Hi guys,

I just started trying to RNG on Generation 5, and I'm trying to get a flawless Naughty Zekrom on White, using a DS Lite. As far as i can gather I'm doing everything right, doing by the book, starting my game a second before the target time, have a Naughty synchronizer, two Chatot etc:

http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/5642/rngp.png

But I'm getting IVs of 22 - 23 / 26 - 27 / 0 - 1 / 24 - 25 / 22 - 23 / 6 - 7 everytime. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong?

You are most likely hitting your other Timer0. Have you tried to change your parameters to the other Timer0 and find a new seed on that? Also, go to 5th gen tools, then Adjacent Seed Tool. Your parameters show up there. Enter your Min/Max Timer0. e.g. C7F and C80 or whatever. Enter the date and time of your seed and hit generate. You can match up the IVs there on that chart. B)

Completed my second challenge! My entry for this challenge is Snorlax! I wasn't going to pick up Pokémon again until I finished at least 2 run-throughs of Mass Effect 3, but when I hopped online and saw the current challenge, there was no way I was going to be able to pass up the opportunity to RNG one of my favorite Pokémon...Snorlax.

I still don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

I'm hitting the target time, I'm advancing the right number of frames, but I'm just not getting the desired IVs. What's going on?

When you calibrated did you get two different timer0s? Most likely you did, you just need to alter your parameters to the other timer0.

LethalTexture March 14th, 2012 2:33 PM

I did, and I've tried hitting seeds from both Timer0s. Still no matches.

You're confusing the IV Frame and the PID Frame.

The Seed you found gives you hex-flawless on IV Frame 111. In order to get to IV Frame 111, you have to do many box withdraws, walking around, etc. These methods advances the IV RNG. Note that if you do box withdraws in N's Castle, you will have to walk to the final battle. Walking can accidentally advance the IV RNG Frame. Therefore, I suggest only using IV RNG Frame 1 then. Ditch what you're using and find another seed. In your new search, make the Min Max Frame 1. Not Max Frame 1000.
http://i43.*.com/5bd1r7.png

Chatots are used to advance the PID Frame. It's customized cry advances the PID Frame by 1 each time you hear its cry on its summary page. The PID Frame does not start on 1. It can start anywhere between 40 and 60, usually. After copy+pasting a Seed into Seed(Hex) and selecting Gen 5 PIDRNG Method, click the Calculate Initial PIDRNG Frame button. Your old seed would have given you a Quirky Zekrom (PID Frame 46), so you need to do 1 Chatter to get a Naughty Zekrom (PID Frame 47). However, you need to ditch that seed you used anyways. What you need to take away from this is chatter advancing, yeah. You got this down, but I wanted to recap for any others struggling about IV vs. PID frames.
http://i41.*.com/20sxi7a.png

Once you pick a new seed, be sure to start the game with respect to the actual second. For example, mr. bad seed is started at 19:22:55 in order to get the target time 19:22:56. DS Lite (typically) has an actual second of 1. You gotta hit A 1 second before the target time. Follow keypresses (press and hold until you see the shooting star animation); if there are none, don't press anything during this crucial moment. Be sure your DS is in correct year/date etc. Definitely no not ever activate the C-Gear.

I'm not sure what you were getting, as those IVs are not on early IV frames of that seed you used. Find DS Parameters on a new date/time in Victory Road (the cave floor closest to Elite 4 Pokecenter). Make sure everything in the DS Parameter Finder. Be sure you used the same game/DS when finding parameters. No swapsies. It's crucial to use the right parameters or else the seeds don't work for you.

Hope this helps.

Morning All!!! I've worked two double shifts this week, and have another double shift today so I don't think I'm going to have time to complete this challenge. *cry*

Here's what I'm aiming for if I find time on my dinner break [not likely]
I'm trying to breed a Pichu with Volt Tackle. Since I do my breeding on Diamond I traded a Pickachu with Volt Orb from my HeartGold over. I have a Ditto with a perfect HP, and 29 in SA. I have a Raichu with 29 in Speed. I haven't picked a spread out that I like yet. But I'm going for a Jolly nature just because. And I care more about Shiny than the final IV combination. I'll keep you all posted. I get out at 11PM tonight, so I may just be coming in under the wire.

Congrats everyone on your recent RNG's.

Cheers, Ringo

Nice Kyurem! I know what you mean, though... that catch rate of 3 is awful. I've had to restart many times due to being stubborn and wanting it in a certain ball!

EDIT: I've been a very busy, but naughty boy! Three more injected Wondercards. Next up is Deoxys-A. All are in 4th Gen.

... ... ...Thanks for everyone who worked everything out for me, but I have a bigger problem. Hitting the delay. I've tried this about 2 times using a certain spread and I could never hit it right. I'm sure I had done the seconds correctly, but I could never hit the delay correctly. And about timers...I can't enter the game in the second when the timer drops down to 0 and with lots of different information on calibration, I can't decide what to put inside the Calibrated Delay/Seconds...and I still don't know how to get rid of my occasional fluctuating seconds rate. And Target Seconds and Delay...you'd put the targeted seconds and delay rate you need to hit in there, right? Any recommendations on how to hit a delay correctly? I know that this would be a long shot, since people hit different delays and have their own ways, but I'll give it a shot. And about BW RNG Abuse for Wondercards...I don't get this part.

  • Hit your seed once and find the IVs you find which is the initial frame.
    • In most cases, it will be the first frame, after you calculate the initial PIDRNG frame.
  • In RNG Reporter, enter your seed and select Wondercard (5th Gen) to see the possible IV spreads.
  • Calculate the amount of advances you need to do to hit the target frame with the following formula:
(Target Frame) - (Initial Frame) = Advances Required

  • Hit your seed again, do the required advances, and verify your Pokemon.
    • Adjust accordingly.
Can someone clarify this part for me (make it easier to understand)? And also...for Shiny Wondercard ones. I also don't understand this part...

  1. Search for Wondercard seeds with the frame range 60-100, with any nature selected.
    • Wondercard IVs and PID / Nature are based off the PIDRNG completely. No Mersenne Twister RNG is used.
  2. Once you have a vast array of seeds, test each one out to see if you are able to hit that frame due to the initial offset of the game.
    • This is done by pressing the Calculate Initial Frame Button.
    • All possible target frames must be at least 2 frames after the initial frame.
  3. Now look at your target frame, and second frame directly after your target. Is your desired nature on this frame?
    • If no, throw away that seed.
    • If yes, keep that seed as a potential target.
  4. Once you have narrowed down your seeds from RNG Reporter to one(s) that have your target nature frame and seed, find out how many advances you need to do.
(Target Frame) - (Initial Frame) - 3 = Advances Required

Detailed Information on Shiny Wondercards:
  • It takes more than the usual amount of frames to calculate a Shiny PID.
  • Since the lastest RNG Reporter update (9.81) was published before we had knowledge of the Shiny Wondercard method, you will have to take a little bit more time to abuse.
  • The game generates a Shiny PID with the "Current Seed" and Card IDs.
    • Since the game generates the IVs before PID, the IVs are predictable.
    • However, the game generates nature after the PID.
    • The trick of this is that the subsequent frame will have the nature.
Can someone clarify this one as well (make it easier to understand)? Thanks and I'm sure you'll just ask me to see the page saying this again.

If this is your attitude then don't bother to come here to ask for help again. Do you know how many times we have to read the guide before we ask others for help?

Cordelia March 16th, 2012 5:23 AM

RGF, the easiest way to find your calibrated delay is to enter 500 (HGSS) or 600 (DPPT) and then adjust your timer by typing in the delay hit box the the delay that you actually hit. Then, hit update. It will change your calibrated delay. Keep doing this until you are 2-6 delay off of your target and then you should eventually get it. I don't know what to do about the "fluctuating second" since I've never actually tried that.

For 5th gen wondercards, just go to the E4 Pokemon Center. Then, you start with the initial PIDRNG frame that RNG reporter gives you (will be correct 99% of the time if you go to the E4 Pokemon Center). Then just chatter to your target.

Challlenge #4: RNG your favorite Pokemon of the fire type!

何贤豪 March 16th, 2012 6:46 AM

Okay then...I'll keep pretty much everything in mind. And okay. I should read the guide again to understand the things I have problems with? Is that actually it? Well, the guide may be a bit problematic to me, but I'll try. (I don't really know much on RNG)

LethalTexture March 16th, 2012 8:47 AM

Thats for everyone's help, particularly TwilightBlade. I realised where I was going wrong; i was trying to match the frame given on the Timefinder screen to one on the PIDRNG screen. i was following TBs guide that she posted in another thread but as that one was going off simply a normal wild encounter, I was going in blind.

However, I gave up on Zekrom because whatever I did, I just couldn't get it right. So I abandoned Zekrom and went straight onto the other stationary legendaries. I'm pleased to report I got:

Cobalion (Shiny, Jolly), 31/31/31/9/31/31

on my first attempt. :D

You just need to focus on one type of RNG and get it down. Right now you are way too broad which is what I think is confusing for you.

Wow, this place has a lot of good RNG abuses...
I'd like to do one and I kinda understand now, but I need some aesthetic advice. I'd like to catch a Ditto...which ball should I use? Quick Ball or Great Ball? Or should I use another kind of ball?
Thanks!

... ... ...Pink Ditto? Ditto's purple. (What should I use?) And also...if I were to RNG abuse a Legendary Pokemon (this is actually an aesthetic issue again), should I just use a Master Ball? Or should I use other balls? Well, I prefer the Master Ball because I'm tired of catching Legendary Pokemon with other balls (unless if it has an effect that makes the catch rate higher). I already have 12 Master Balls ready for the legendary Pokemon!

Using Master Balls on catch rate 3 legendaries is perfectly understandable, so just really do what you want. :)

Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that the challenges are optional... you shouldn't feel compelled to do them. If you are too busy, you don't have to do them. I understand completely. I don't want this pastime to feel like a job to anyone so if you cannot do a challenge, please don't feel down or anything. It's fine. We're here to have fun and I'm not interested in making anyone not have fun. I am open to suggestions for the club at all times (by PM if you'd prefer), so just keep that in mind. Please everyone, remember that this is fun. I apologize to all of you if I have pressured anyone into challenges and I will look towards a future will I will keep a closer eye on things like that.

Good luck and ultimately, have fun, because that's what this club is all about -- fun. :)

Catch rate 3 only? So...for Kyogre, you don't have to do so (its catch rate is 5)? Well, I think I still have to do so. Most legendary Pokemon are a pain in the neck...especially Roaming Legendary Pokemon! And anyways, Legendary Pokemon are pretty much powerful and the Master Ball suits their power...
And about RNG abuse...I understand the basics to doing Wild Pokemon RNG Abuse. It looks simple, but I could never do it right. The reason? Delays. Well, I kinda understand how to operate the timer now, but what you said about letting the timer update itself by inserting the delay you hit instead of the delay you were supposed to hit just got me a problem. How would you identify the delay you hit? If you use the Seed from Stats thing, well, it works...but it's a bit hard. You'd have to go to a location where you can easily catch a Level 50 and more Pokemon...it's hard to do so and I don't like using an AR. And also...in the Hours and Minutes part of the Seed from Stats thing, you'd put the time you started the game (or soft reset the game) into the Hours and Minutes part, right?

Just use Master Balls on anything you want. It's what you want to do, not what everyone else wants to do. You identify the delay you hit by doing a series of 9 or 10 elm calls and using the "Search Elm" feature of Seed to Time. Are you using that?

Alright...and I did do that, but it didn't give me results. It always said No match for ... (I don't remember the rest).
I have done a search with Delay + 100 - 100 to find which delay I hit instead of the one I was supposed to hit...and it still didn't work.

I'm back from my hiatus to help Mac with new challenges, show you the joy od RNG and to inspire you to explore the depths of RNG abusing. Since English isn't my native language, I'm sorry in advance if it goes bad sometimes ;)
I hope we can have a lot of fun together :D

Cheers and wait for the upcoming new challenge I prepared for you! :)

Thank you! And yes..it'll be Jolteon. I'm pretty excited about this one. My next abuse will be another Eevee, but with a different HP. Gonna go for a Glaceon.

Thank you. I'm not a big fan of the shiny sprite for Jolteon...but my next Eevee will be shiny for sure. Gonna go for a Glaceon, and I love the shiny sprite for Glaceon.

Wow, this is awesome! You did awesome job Rednael!

@LegendaryFSK Teah,, not a huge fan of Shiny Jolteon too, but I was rather talking about shiny breed in general :)

6h to end the current challenge :)

Cordelia March 19th, 2012 3:17 PM

Nice RNGs Rednael! I really need to do a Leafeon like that ^^ I am jealous :D

RingoH March 19th, 2012 6:06 PM

Hi All!!

Favorite Fire was a little tough. I thought about trying to go for Moltres on my SS but I'm not really ready to try those birds just yet...

I decided to go with my favorite fire by look alone. I think the shiny Rapidash with blue for its manes is the single prettiest shiny fire Pokemon. So going purely on one I find pretty I aimed for a male jolly shiny. (egg breeding in diamond)

I got my shiny male jolly. But when I went for my stats..
I was excited when it was a mischievous characteristic and thought I had my frame. I saved then checked with rare candies. Apparently I flipped one too few pages and although I have perfect Special Attack the rest of my stats are very low. I am still proud to enter this handsome dude as my entry in the challenge..

Nice stuff RingoH and loucas!

Thanks everyone for participating in this challenge, be sure to bug Mac to add you on the scoreboard XD

Time for the new challenge!

The Wake Up Slap Challenge!
The spring is coming so wake the Pokemon up! Some of the Pokemon are based on animals that hibernate during the winter. So what are you waiting for? RNG one of those to wake it up! Since this challenge is based on your creativity, you have to add a creative explanation why did you choose this Pokemon, not another one. If you don't have any ideas what pokemon it could be, this article might be helpful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hibernation

The challenge starts now and ends on March 23rd, 2012 11:59 PM UTC-4 (US Eastern Time)

RingoH March 20th, 2012 3:32 AM

WOW Gonzo!!! That is such an awsome and creative challenge I am looking forward to completing it. I acctually know exactly which Pokemon I plan to use for it... and it's not (I hope anyway) an obvious one... Going to wait til I've completed to tell you what it is though (Usually I like to tell my goal for a challenge but this one is so special I'm holding my hand a little close).... [I will say I think I'm migrating the parents for the challenge off one of my Gen III games]

This challenge inspired me to share this RNG I did a few weeks back:

Christianzeo March 20th, 2012 3:50 AM

How do we use the broken RNG? i still don't get it :P

Gonzo March 20th, 2012 4:18 AM

@RingoH Thank you! I'm glad you like my challenge! I hope you'll get a wonderful breed after swapping the parents from Gen III! Snorlax is kinda obvoius but a good example of a Pokemon that could sleep whole winter. I'm really excited what you'll get for us, good luck and have fun :)

@Christianzeo Read RNG abuse guide by TwilightBlade. It's well written and easy to understand, that should help.
