It helps to know which game you're trying to abuse on, as the method of verifying your target seed is different on each one. Which part of the process is giving you trouble?

The guides all look overwhelming at first, as it's not easy the first time [after all this is an aspect of the game that Nintendo and Game Freak never intended us to discover and try to exploit].

If you are trying to abuse for a shiny you will need to know your SID in addition to your Trainer ID. The easiest way to find this is to send a pokemon to Pokecheck [www.pokecheck.org].

I read the guides severl times over and over before I tried my first RNG, once you've done it a few times it starts to become like second nature. Also, try to learn one type of RNG on one game rather than try to laern everything at once. Focus on just capturing or just breeding. Once you get how to do one, then learn the other tricks.

Advice Needed:
Where is the best place to RNG some Ditto's??? I have a few with more than one perfect stat, but I would like a small collection of them with three or more perfects...

I DO have Emerald, but have not tried to RNG on it. I have HG/SS but have yet to RNG on those yet... And is it possible to RNG them in D/P using the Pokeradar?

I'm open to suggestions.

Gonzo March 20th, 2012 5:59 AM

Ringo, You can get some Ditto's in Giant Chasm.

First, find a spread for flawless synchable nature, encounter slot 3 or 6.
Then, remove the fog in the inner plains part (save game, change the month one forwards, encounter a Pokemon - you can KO it or just run - and the fog will be cleared).
Next, put your desired synchronizer as a lead, get Chatots, take a Magikarp or Caterpie or another weakling to switch on the first turn and a Pokemon which will help you get Ditto.
In the end, hit your seed, advance the frames and catch the Ditto :)

Emerald abuse is annoying and you have to wait ages to get a flawless ditto...
Radar abuse is very annoying... I tried that, I hated that XD
I caught several flawless Ditto in HG/SS, Timid and Modest are even Shiny :3

RingoH March 20th, 2012 7:30 AM

I have barely touched Black and White. [My copy of Black I am on the fourth gym, and White I am on the second]... I really need the Dittos for my breeding projects in Diamond.

I'm guessing it's time to start to RNG in HG/SS. It was bound to happen soon anyway.

I do "eventually" want to learn RNG in Emerald because I would like to breed some of my favorites there and get some Gen III ribbons on them before migrating them... In particular I want to have a team earn the Mt. Battle ribbon in Colloseum. Learning to RNG in Emerald isn't something I planned to do "soon" was just toying with it for my Ditto needs since the easiest place in the game to run into them is in that cave, and the Frontier dude helps narrow down the IV's.

I also rarely RNG my Pokemons with more than three perfects. I think it makes each one more unique. So although a flawless Ditto in all stats would be ideal for my breeding needs... I'm really looking for like three or four of them with perfects in several stats and anything in the rest... and I don't worry about nature.

For someone who is already used to RNG abuse in Diamond: how different is HG/SS going to be?

Gonzo March 20th, 2012 7:54 AM

Oh, I thought you're abusing in BW, my bad XD

it's the same, tho you check the seed by calling Elm 10 times or if you have your roamers free, just check the map if their positions are correct.

I can't tell if this was some good natured joking or if you missed part of what I wrote....

I have a different Poke I am planning to RNG tonight for entry into the challenge... I was only using the announcement of the latest challenge as an excuse to show him off.

I have my next few RNGs planned... what do you guys think?

For Challenge: It's a surprise, I hope to get it asap! ;)
Then Adamant Scyther caught in Platinum, DW Corphish, and a Brave Totodile. All three of these are BP/CPs from my thread... I need other things to think of to RNG abuse :P

Gonzo March 20th, 2012 10:19 AM

Well, Mac, your post is inspiring and I think it's a good Idea for today's topic! the question is:

Do you guys plan your RNG abuses? Do you have a list or something or are they rather spontaneous?

We're really curious! Share your RNG habit with us! I'm going to post on topic too, but I'd like to read your experience first ;)

Challenge complete. This challenge was pretty unique and I enjoyed it...although I don't feel like Spring is coming where I live. It's been cold and snowing all day here. So I went with Teddiursa, the Little Bear Pokémon, beings how he seems nice and warm under all that fur...unlike the weather here.

Oi, I love Teddiursa! He's probably one of the picture perfect Pokemon for this challenge since he's a teddy bear. If he lived where I lived, he would have come out of his cave weeks ago... hell, he might have barely been in it. We hardly had three weeks of winter here this year. :3

For the topic -- I usually try to plan out my RNG abuses in my head, but every so often I'll read something about an awesome competitive Poke and I'm like OMG I most RNG that as soon as possible. That's where the Sableye with Prankster came in... I just had to have one, so I abused one myself.

vaporeon7 March 20th, 2012 1:06 PM

I finished the challenge too~
I RNGed Poliwag as many types of frogs hibernate during winter to escape the cold and what not. I was going to do a Teddiursa but I thought I'd go for something a little different. I always loved digging up the frogs and tadpoles from underneath the mud when I was little in Spring. It was so fun. Also am I supposed to post my Pokémon in the format above? I'll just do it now just in case.

oocyst March 20th, 2012 1:08 PM

I did my challenge and I'm gonna write up why I did this guy!

http://www.serebii.net/blackwhite/pokemon/060.png
Poliwag
Swift Swim|Modest|HP Grass
31|14|31|30|31|31
Water Sport|Encore
Hatched in Moor of Icirrus

So among the animals that hibernate are the amphibians, the frogs and newts and salamanders and all that. Most species just spend the winters on the bottom of ponds, partially burrowed in the mud, waiting for winter to be over. However, there is a species of frog that can survive the harsh winter colds, even when frozen solid! They store enough glucose in their organs to stop them from crystallizing, while the exterior part of their bodies freezes. This way they can stay alive even when completely frozen.

That's why I did poliwag, the little tadpole that will one day turn into a cute frog or a burly toad! I think mine is destined to become a cute froggy kinda poli. I love frogs <33

And for the topic, no, I don't plan out my RNGs, when a pokemon I like springs to mind I just get the urge to RNG it and then I do it.

Haha, you two posted the same challenge entry almost at the same time! That's fine though, just rather funny how things work like that. Both are very nice RNG abuses, so keep up the great work. I didn't even know that frogs hibernated during winter... shows what I know about animals (absolutely nothing).

Congrats for being the fastest with this challenge! :)

Thank you. Unfortunately, the only reason I was able to get it done so quick is because I threw out my back yesterday and have been in bed almost the whole time since then. Gives me a perfect reason to play Pokémon and RNG though...so it's all good.

Man, I wish I lived where you live then. I'm not a big fan of the cold and snow at all. My first thought for this challenge was going to be Tympole, but when I looked outside and saw all the snow, I just thought of something warm and Teddiursa was perfect.

As far as today's topic goes, like Mac of York, I usually try and plan my abuses out, but most of the time I get totally sidetracked and usually RNG abuse something completely random. I have never battled competitively, but I read a lot of analysis on different competitive Pokémon and I get excited and RNG one of them instead...then of course never use them in a battle. lol.

Aren't they based off pandas, which don't hibernate?

RingoH March 21st, 2012 3:32 AM

Ok... Time to show off my entry. I was thinking a little creative here. I chose Slakoth. Now, yes the name is based off of a sloth [and in the anime it's appearance is more like a sloth], the sprite has always made me think of a Lemur. It's shadow around the eyes, and stripes. The Lemur is the only primate known to hibernate [although I was reading that this is a much shorter hibernation than we traditionaly think of such as bears have]. To fathur my Lemur analogy I am refering you all to King Jullian from Penguins of Madagasgar who does a lot of dancing... Vigoroth, Slakoth's first evolution, I have always thought looks more like it's dancing than it's attacking in it's animated sprite. Lastly, its final evolution is Slaking [King -- As in King Jullian].

I decided he needed to be Relaxed only for aesthetic reasons, a sleeping, hibernating Pokemon sure better feel relaxed... And I decided to sync the Characteristic into this challenge, which was harder than I thought it would be... I had to make sure I only had one perfect in order to assure this. So here I present my very sleepy, hibernating[or at least hibernating every other turn], Slakoth who hopes one day to be a King just like the cute annoying Lemur from penguins:

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfsb/dpmfsb287.png
Slokoth - *Shiny*
Male - Relaxed
Egg Hatched - Lvl. 1
31 / 15 / 29 / 9 / 28 / 23
HP - Steel 36
**Characteristic - Often Dozes Off **
He was a lot of fun to RNG.

As for the question of the day:
I have a mental list of which pokemon I want to RNG. Most of the time I just care about shiny and stats are a little secondary. I get more interested in a decent Hidden Power than I do actual stats, even if I dont intend to put Hidden Power on it. My first goals as an RNGer are a collection of shiny starters [half way there], a collection of shiny Eevolutions [not there yet as I want wish as an egg move and I've been too lazy to raise my Togepi to get it], and most of the Pokemon from the fairy egg group[I like cute Pokemon]. I also want to RNG all my Legendaries from now on [so far only done a Giratina]. There area a few random Pokemon I am RNGing in the process. For example, the Snorlax I showed off yesterday. I needed a male Snorlax to pass down Belly Drum to my Charizard while doing the First Gen Starters [I was copying a Bellyzard I saw on Smogon]. I figured since I was breeding to get a Male in the first place I might as well breed him Shiny, and since I was going to RNG him I might as well give him some decent stats too. Likewise I RNGed a Roselia, while part of the Fairy Group it's not one of the species I consider "cute" and part of my must have list... I needed Aromatherapy to pass down to a Chansey though. I am glad I did RNG the Roselia though because the Shiny Sprite in my opinion is so cool I feel I would have missed out by not doing it. So anytime I am planning on breeding an egg move I'm sidetracking my RNG plans to include the father pokemon being bred shiny first. Lastly, a few random Pokemon I happen to like are getting done early. Such as Porygon, which I've bred two shiny, and done a capture [the capture was my team rocket challenge entry]. The capture was partially because I wanted my first RNG capture to be a pokemon that was special to me, and partially because I messed up both my egg hatched ones by giving them the wrong ability.

Ever since Emerald I have been enthusiastic about breeding. I was once able to chain breed to get a Pokemon with four perfect IV's. That was a lot and I mean a LOT of getting eggs and hatching them over and over. At the time I had nearly an hour commute to work by bus and spent my bus ride every day playing Pokemon. RNGing takes a lot less time out of breeding. Last night I decided I would take a crack at Emerald RNG abuse. I understand why it would be annoying for most use. However, I think I'll get the hang of it. If I do.... I'll be looking to restart Emerald soon so I can catch all the Hoenn Legendaries shiny, especially the Golem Trio. Trouble is I think I would want to buy a second copy of Emerald somewhere... I have every box in my pc full, and I'm only around 10 pokemon shy of a complete National Dex. We'll see. I need some continued experimentation before I decide if playing around in Emerald is worth my time or not.

何贤豪 March 21st, 2012 5:13 AM

Okay...for your question...I'm going to say:

I pretty much plan my RNG abuses, but they sometimes get a bit problematic (I focus on all of them, making it harder).

Speaking of RNG abuse...I think I'll just stop on HGSS RNG abuse. Man, that RNG abuse is a pain. Delays are going to drive me crazy. I'd rather work on BW RNG abuse...I have yet to get the SPR2012 Zekrom (it is spring, right?) and Nobunaga's Rayquaza. I think it could go well. If it doesn't, I'll just leave them in the box and transfer them when I can. It's a long shot anyway...because I use a flash cart.\

(I hope this isn't a problematic post)

Cordelia March 21st, 2012 10:00 AM

So, after much hard work, I finally present entry for the challenge:

http://www.pokecheck.org/i/itm/008.pnghttp://sprites.pokecheck.org/icon/1.pnghttp://www.pokecheck.org/i/itm/008.png
Bulbasaur ♂ Lv. 10
OT: Spock | ID: 51241
Nature: Modest
Ability: Chlorophyll
IVs: 31, 10, 31, 30, 31, 30 Fire 70
EVs: Untrained
Moves: Tackle, Growl, Leech Seed, Vine Whip
Not For Trade
Injected into Entralink, Japanese Rom

Bulbasaur might not be the first thing you think of when you think of a hibernating Pokemon, but I'd like to think that it does hibernate during the winter. It needs to protect its bulb and the best way to do that is to find a nice, warm cave and lay down to sleep during the cold season. Then, when it comes around to spring, it could show up and enjoy the warmer weather and the sunshine and then perhaps its bulb will have matured enough to work on blooming, then evolving into Ivysaur and eventually Venusaur.

I hope that's OK... lol, I wanted to do Bulbasaur really bad xD

何贤豪 March 22nd, 2012 7:31 AM

Ooh, that looks nice! (I actually need one of those!)
I'd like to do the challenge...but I'm still confused. And I decided to quit HGSS RNG abuse for a while. Those events aren't going to come themselves!

Speaking of the events, I plan on RNG abusing Rayquaza and Zekrom. I think I understand most things for the Zekrom, but there is one step in the guide that I'm a bit confused about.

"Hit your seed once and find the IVs you find which is the initial frame.
In most cases, it will be the first frame, after you calculate the initial PIDRNG frame."

Now, what I'm confused on this part is about "find the IVs you find which is the initial frame" and the rest after that.
About find the IVs you find...find which Pokemon's IVs? Is it the Wondercard one? And about the initial frame...you'd find your initial frame using the IVs you found, right? And you'd also have to calculate your initial PIDRNG frame too, right? If you do, how? Does it go like how you'd find your initial frame? And there's also a part that says...

"Hit your seed again, do the required advances, and verify your Pokemon.
Adjust accordingly."

Now, what would adjust accordingly mean? Does it mean I have to adjust something when I have to? And if I should, what should I adjust? The advances I have to do?

Well, after that, I have no problems.

(I hope this one doesn't bring problems)

Very creative thinking and now that you mention it, Bulbasaur does seem like it it would hibernate. Love it.

Yes in this case as you want to RNG a wondercard.

For wondercard abuse in 5th gen, IVs are tied with nature so all you need to do --->
you hit your seed and don not do any advance at this point, check the pokemon's IVs and nature, then compare it to the main window to see what frame you end up and that will be your initial frame (no worries about initial PIDRNG frame). Then you do it again but this time advance the frame to get to the frame you want and you shall get your desire wondercard mon ;)

Bro, awesome Bulbasaur and good explanation, I like it!

LegendaryFSK, nice abuses! I'm in love with your Mincinno ;)

Time for my challenge post 8D

From Camilla's Journal a small Challenge Fick - explanation:
The true is, she was the very first Pokemon of this species I saw on the route and in my life as well. Probably, she was the first awoken from the sleep! I found her training some punches on a huge brick of ice, late at night. My Abra felt a bond between himself and her and manipulated my Carnivine to attract her with Sweet Scent! I wanted to hide but I slipped on the ice and accidentialy dropped my pokeball with Pelipper and he got out of it. She wanted a battle - if I was asleep for about three months, I would definitely like to battle too! She used Belly Drum in the very beginning of the battle. I was impressed by her spirit, spirit of a true warrior. During a fierce battle which was full of powerful techniques I realized that she would be a great partner for me and my team. Eventually, both Pokemon my Pelipper and the Pokemon were exhausted. That was the moment I threw a Nest Ball and... I did it! I caught her! Click on the spoiler to see what got!

Thanks for that! I'll be back with my latest abuses! All I need now is a Sweet Scent user so I can find my parameters and an IV checker (I can't use Pokecheck in my place, not sure why...it worked with ReignOfComputer's server that did the same thing)...would an online checker do (like Serebii's)?
Secondly, I'm a bit confused on this part:

check the pokemon's IVs and nature, then compare it to the main window to see what frame you end up and that will be your initial frame (no worries about initial PIDRNG frame).

The Pokemon is the Wondercard one again, right? And comparing it to the main window...the main window is the first window that pops up when you open RNG Reporter...and you compare the IVs and Nature. After I did that, then how do I find my frame (which will be the initial frame)? Do I use the IVs? And comparing it does what, actually?

And another thing...if you received a Wondercard Pokemon and turned off without saving, the delivery man would still be able to give you your Wondercard Pokemon, right?

(Sorry, I just don't get most things when it comes to abusing for IVs)

vaporeon7 March 22nd, 2012 11:26 PM

I don't really plan my RNGs, unless I need the Pokémon for a specific team or someone has requested it. Most of the time it's a matter of surfing Smogon and seeing an interesting moveset, seeing a shiny sprite and thinking it's pretty or just a random obsession with the Pokémon at the time.

何贤豪 March 23rd, 2012 12:13 AM

Well, I'm back with my newest RNG abuse...a Shiny Zubat! It's for the Wake Up Slap Challenge.

No.041 Zubat, Lv.1 (UT), Quiet nature, Inner Focus ability.
OT Jason, ID No. 56796.
Moves: Leech Life
IVs: Unknown
EVs: None

The reason I chose Zubat is because bats hibernate and Zubat is a bat-like Pokemon.
It isn't really creative, but I have to give a reason, right?

This Zubat isn't really great...it's just a Shiny Pokemon. I have no idea about how to RNG abuse for good IVs...yet.

Yes, the pokemon is the wondercard one since you want to RNG a wondercard. yes for the main window. What I mean is just using pokemon IVs and nature to look for your frame, to see which frame matches up with your pokemon's IVs and nature.

As long as you do not save the game then yes, the delivery man will still give you the pokemon.

Yes, you can use that but they will give you a range of IVs rather than exact IVs.

RingoH March 23rd, 2012 3:32 AM

I wanted to give an update on my Emerald progress.... Attempting to RNG for a collection of Ditto's that I can use for Gen III breeding... And learning RNG in Gen III so that I can RNG my legendarys as well as RNG a team I want to bring to Mt Battle.

One thing I have determined is that soft resetting Emerald is just not for me, it feels too akward, and I don't feel I am consistantly starting the clock and hitting my soft reset at the same time. I am using my two stage timer I use for Gen IV abuse, but instead of a long delay first followed by a shorter delay I'm using a five second delay first, then reset when that reaches zero, mash A until I'm in the game world, then select my sweet scenter and hit A for sweet scent once the second timer reaches zero.

I found that soft resetting and trying to determine a calibration time that I was off by one or two seconds once then off by one or two in the opposite direction the second time... Although by sheer luck I did hit one of the spreads I was hoping to catch during this calibration phase [although not the one I was aiming for at the time, which is why I say I hit it by sheer dumb luck]. Without changing my timer at all I ended up as far off as two second, and as close as ten frames. That's way too huge of a window of error to be acceptable, and I really feel it had to do with trying to hold down SEL/START/A/B and release at the right moment. The A/B aren't an issue, but the SEL & Start are just not comfortable to try to hold down and then release at the right time.

Last night, I decided to try a hard reset. Still using the two stage timer, with a five second pre-delay. Only now, I am hitting A for the GBA slot on my DS when the first timer reaches zero, instead of trying to soft reset. I started my calibration phase with the actual time I was aiming for. My first try I was off by only five frames. My second I was off by a dozen frames the other way. I tried a few dozen tries before I was too tired and had to go to sleep, but I was within +/- 20 frames on each attempt. Luckily, the spread I am aiming for at the moment is only about thirty second in [frame 2238: 0.37.30 -- Sassy -- 31/31/4/31/14/26]. I know the biggest trouble with Emerald RNG is the often long waits for a spread you want. It helps that at the moment I'm not caring about Nature or Shiny -- Only IV combinations.

Question though:
I don't see anything about determining encounter slots in Emerald. RNG reporter only tells the stats for Gen III not which slot the poke is... I would hate to be trying all this work for that frame to not even be a ditto. Anyone with experience on Gen III RNG able to advise me?

OOOPS. Haven't posted here in a while. I've learned how to RNG eggs in Platinum recently, and have gotten two eggs today. I was working on another, but I'm going to my grandmother's soon, so I'll just wait till I get there. Anyway...some stuff I've RNG'd on Black recently:

This one wasn't so bad. It's a panda right? Pandas totally hibernate PLUS this is a fighting type so if it wanted to, it COULD Wake-Up Slap you. Does it learn that? lol this totally counts js!! :(

[ Poison Sting ]

Yeah the Gligar I was fed up with, since I had been trying for on in Black, failed at that, and decided I wanted an Aqua Tail Gligar anyway. So the whole reason I learned egg RNG in gen IV is for this thing here, and I didn't even get a good nature. lol This is the result of 1. test runs and 2. impatience.

As far as the topic goes, I just kinda RNG out of the blue. Pokemon who have nice shinies that I've always desired, Pokemon I'm randomly interested in, etc. So not really planned most of the time. I do plan on going for Modest Hydro Pump Bagon and a Modest Dark Pulse Deino. Both shiny, obv. lol[/SIZE]

March 23rd was International Puppy Day... so RNG a Pokemon that you'd keep as a pet!

Make sure you explain why this Pokemon would be a good pet.

All right, I figured out what I was doing wrong with my ID abuse earlier.

My new problem is that I can hit my target delay, but I'm not getting my desired ID/SID.

Which game are you doing ID/SID abuse in? And are you getting the same "wrong" ID each time?

The only game I've tried [succeeded too] was Black [going to get a second copy of Platinum to do soon though].

Try checking your initial frame first, and try to focus on one seed rather than changing everytime you didnt hit. Happens to me when i did my id/sid, reporter doesnt tell right initial frame, well atleast for me it didnt

Btw you can tell what your initial seed is when you Check what seed you have hit on the middle tab pandora's box

Gonzo March 24th, 2012 4:14 PM

erm... the word DELAY indicates it's 4th gen ^^

you prolly get seconds other than desired. I had that issue.

For example, you want to hit 50 seconds but you hit the delay and 53 seconds. Adjust you timer to 47 seconds instead of 50 sa target seconds. It will work. Just just add x when you're x seconds before target and substract x if you're x seconds after the target. :)

Challenge Complete. First thing I thought of was Squirtle! Squirtle will always be a favorite of mine as he was my very first starter/pokémon. I thought way back then that Squirtle would make an amazing pet...I still do to this day. Not sure how well Squirtle and my dog would get along, but I would hope they could be friends. lol. You've got column seconds in IV Gen Pandora's Box, don't you? XD

And my answer to the topic -
I never plan my abuses unless they are for my new team or a BP/CP for someone. I also get inspired by Smogon or my friends' Polish anylises and I RNG 'mon when I feel like RNGing, never in a rush, because it destroys the fun of RNGing. It's never in my schedule, I just get the spark to do it and I do it :)

it's not international it's either British or American Day. Mac was sleepy when posting this XD
And Lillipup has both of his abilities valueable. Intimidate is fantastic in doubles while Sand Rush is awesome in low tier sand teams.

Saurus March 25th, 2012 6:29 PM

Hey Mac, I finally figured out how to RNG for non-shiny egg pokemon...lol.

Well, remember how I said I inputed a random PID and SID? Somehow, the 5 numbers I chose for both IDs matched a real working PID and SID spread. So my random IDs made the pokemon still come out shiny. I only saw one thread on gamefaqs that recommended randomizing IDs would allow for non-shiny flawless breeding, but the guy couldn't confirm that it worked...so I wrote it off when it didn't work for me.

Well, I tried it again, this time with a different set of randomized PID and SIDs, and it obviously worked. I think the odds of me randomizing a set of IDs that actually matched for shiny spreads must be insane.

Well...well...well...there's a lot of RNG abuses going around, right? Well, I present my RNG abuse for the current challenge...

No.393 Piplup, Lv.1 (UT), Naive nature, Torrent ability.
OT Jason, ID No. 56796.
Moves: Pound / Surf / Cut / Waterfall
IVs: Unknown
EVs: None

Just like the Zubat, it's only shiny. The IVs are bad. I'd like to go to RNG abusing IVs, but it's really hard. The delays are really hard.

I chose Piplup because penguins may be a pet...it's pretty cute, like some pets (if you'd say Piplup is a penguin) and owning a Pokemon is also a bit similar to having a pet. The whole reasoning thing is pretty hard. I actually did Piplup because I just felt like I'd like to do so.

oocyst March 26th, 2012 11:06 AM

I did the challenge, but it took such a long time! The NPCs kept trolling me :( I kept hitting one frame off, which was Maractus. Now I hate Maractus.

EDIT:

Decided to abuse this seed a bit more as the frame next to the one above is a shiny sandile, so here he is!

Both nice RNGs and good pet choices ^^ I like seeing some unique entries. For the challenge, I chose something that most of you probably wouldn't even thought of. I wanted a Pokemon that is cute, but also useful as a pet. So I went with...

Do you plan your RNG abuses? Do you have a list or something or are they rather spontaneous? Feel free to discuss as long as you like.
I kinda do but I kinda don't. ;D I have made lists of Pokemon I'd like or need to breed but can't get myself in the mood unless I am suddenly inspired. Dive balls are usually involved, ekeke. :3~

I wasn't gonna bother doing challenges this week, but my obvious and dear choice for a pet: hedgehog. They're so adorable and curl up into a ball and rolling around at the speed of sound and see what i just did there and d'awww. ^__^

Excellent work, everyone! I've seen a lot of nice abuses this challenge and I hope to see some more before it ends at midnight! I'll have the new challenge posted tomorrow, so be on the lookout for that ;)

Gonzo March 28th, 2012 3:35 AM

WOW! great abuses guys! I'm in love with Blade's Shaymin *melts*

Time for the new challenge! :3

Long-forgotten type Challenge!
There was a placeholder for Bird type in games of Gen I and II, but the idea was dropped. Go get a Bird Pokemon!

何贤豪 March 29th, 2012 2:29 AM

Would this be a Bird Pokemon? Because it resembles a bird. Here's my RNG abuse for the challenge. It's the first RNG abuse too!

Sydian March 29th, 2012 5:59 PM

Just hatched! Took allllllll freaking day, and I actually got it when just doing it for the hell of it, not thinking I'd actually hatch it lol. I was about to give up and just go with the frame after this one, because I kept hitting that one instead, and the only difference between them was that one was shiny and the other wasn't. Oh and first RNG'd egg in Black yay. Are the IVs okay? :( At least for a first try?

Anyway, I chose Swablu because it's (well more of Altaria tbh) the Challenge forum mascot lol. Reason being is because on day in the CI&D I said something about how I was the Altaria and all the regulars were my fluffy little Swablus. But this is more like Swablorange. I should have named her that but oh well. I'm glad I finally got her though! She's fluffy.

I used my Japanese Prinplup for it.

It Took Me three tries today to hatch it right, i hatch two shinies but not Calm nature like i wanted, they're gentle. Funny thing when you use international breeding is that, there is like 5 consecutive shiny frames together, easy to hatch shiny, though you can't use an everstone.

LethalTexture March 30th, 2012 2:06 AM

Well, after picking up tips from this thread, TB's guide and general fiddling around and practice, I've done these RNGs so far:

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/193/rngm.png

Since I haven't been doing it long, I'm quite pleased. :D

Sydian March 30th, 2012 8:11 AM

Wow you're doing a lot better than me Horizon. ;o; I do have some stationary legendaries in my English White I can RNG later though, so that's good. And I still have those Regis in Platinum but UGH I don't feel like learning about delay todayyyyy and I said I would. :( I also have another breeding project in mind, but idk if I wanna do it in gen IV or V because gen IV has all the moves like jagger that I want, but gen V I can work on IVs so idk what to do lol. :( :( :(

Also after what Loucas said, I'm totes using international parents more often lol. I tend to do that only if I don't have another Pokemon to use, so I use my Jap Ditto (or English cause I do have a lot of Jap Pokes already).

Here is my entry to the current challenge. Big fan of this little guy.

vaporeon7 March 31st, 2012 2:59 AM

After Syd stole my fluffly Swablu plan I decided to RNG a shiny Wingull. Even though she isn't really a shiny, I named her Peeko after Mr. Briney's.

Cordelia March 31st, 2012 9:25 AM

Excellent entries for the challenge! I come to you all with a new topic of discussion.

New discussion topic:
What type of RNG abuse can you do? What are you interesting in learning how to do in the future?

vaporeon7 March 31st, 2012 11:48 AM

At the moment I can only really catch Pokémon that you have to click on like Terrakion or Musharna and hatch Pokémon with the desired IVs, nature, shiny, etc in 5th gen. I would like to learn how to do random grass encounters, C-Gear and Wonder Card ones as well though. I'm using PPRNG and would love someone to teach me. I would also really love to learn 4th and 3rd gen RNGing too.

TwilightBlade March 31st, 2012 12:23 PM

What type of RNG abuse can you do? What are you interesting in learning how to do in the future?
I can do breeding and capturing (mostly legendaries) abuse in Gen 3, 4, and 5. I would like to do complicated captures (e.g. Headbutt, Shaking Spot, Swarm, fishing, etc) or Entralink abuse someday but they don't really appeal to me. I don't like fancy balls too much just to spend hours doing entralink abuse. .-.

LegendaryFSK March 31st, 2012 12:55 PM

What type of RNG abuse can you do? What are you interesting in learning how to do in the future? Well for now, the only RNG abuse I can do is breeding and capturing (stationaries, wild grass/cave, wondercard) on Gen 5. I'm using PPRNG beings how I'm on a Mac and one day, I'd like to be able to learn Gen 4...but I'm content with Gen 5 abuse for now.

On another note...two of my latest abuses...

Yo! I doubt this is the right place to post this but i'm doing it anyway, so don't get mad at me ;_;

I've been following the RNG abuse guide in the OP, and am trying to find my Timer0.
I'm positive that i'm following all the step correctly, and doing everything right, but when I click 'Search' in RNG Reporter after finding the IVs of the Pokemon I caught in Victory Road, it always comes up with 0 results.

I'm fairly sure i'm doing it right too, because when I use the same time more than once, I end up catching the same exact Pokemon.

RNG abuse sounds fun and i'd love to be able to do it D:

Sydian March 31st, 2012 2:23 PM

What type of RNG abuse can you do? What are you interested in learning how to do in the future?
Right now, I can do eggs in Platinum. Aaaand I can do eggs and wild captures in Black. And wondercards...I think. lol :( I'm trying to learn how to RNG stationary Pokemon in Platinum and get better at eggs in Black. I'd like to learn eggs in HG as well, and stationaries. I just wanna get pretty stuff that I like. :3c

Are you turning on the C-Gear when you're attempting to calibrate? That's the only thing I can think of.

I can do breeding, capture/stationary, and wondercard RNG in B/W, and shiny egg and ID/SID abuse in D/P/Pt. I'm trying to learn capture/stationary and egg IV in gen 4 right now, though I'd love to learn Entralink sometime.

Try to download Microsoft's .net framework. Just google around for it... if that doesn't work, do the below.

Register on this website and post your problem in this thread. Make sure you list what version of RNG Reporter you are using.

Caught a weird Bird Pokemon which can't fly, Pokedex says it can't but somehow it can learn HM02...

Since I have French Diamond and Soul Silver and now I have Japanese Black. Be sure you'll see many abuses from those games!

small announcement:
Starting with next challenge, Mac, TwilightBlade and I will choose the best abuse of each challenge and it will be the mascot of the thread until the end of following challenge. Do your best and be the chosen one!

何贤豪 March 31st, 2012 4:43 PM

What type of RNG abuse can you do? What are you interesting in learning how to do in the future?
Okaaay...there's Breeding Shiny Pokemon in Platinum. That's it. I'm interested in doing Wondercard Pokemon RNG abuse (Gen IV and Gen V), but there are two challenges to both.
Gen IV: I still don't have the Wondercard (planning to do Pokemon Ranger Deoxys) and the delays...are a royal pain in the neck
Gen V: I use a flashcart. Every time I start up my game, the parameters that I get would have a weird Actual Seconds rate. Instead of 26 like how TwilightBlade's guide had, I got a number that's around 32. (If I still have my DS Lite, I could do it easily)
I'm also going to try RNG abusing for good IVs (Gen IV and Gen V). And like the Wondercard Pokemon RNG abuse, there are two problems.
Gen IV: delays. Delays. DELAYS. My only problem.
Gen V: flashcart. Flashcart. FLASHCART. My only problem.
Maybe I'll edit this post with a Shiny Pokemon after my DSi XL's battery is full.

TwilightBlade March 31st, 2012 4:52 PM

Looking forward to that announcement, gonz0. :)
