I wish I didn't have to go to bed soon, I have to go to gym class early tomorrow morning. Boo! :(

Livewire March 21st, 2012 10:00 PM

I have a guest speaker in Biology too. :/ Crap.

Avishka March 21st, 2012 10:30 PM

I like bio but i don't like the chapter about reproduction in humans!!! :P :P

Legendary Silke March 21st, 2012 10:47 PM

That one is also what makes the class all rowdy. Oh, and it's an headache trying to remember all the details.

Livewire March 21st, 2012 10:49 PM

We have a guest speaker who will talk about crap that doesn't matter. Zzzzz.

Legendary Silke March 21st, 2012 10:51 PM

Makes you wish real life had a triple speed button, huh?

Livewire March 21st, 2012 10:59 PM

I could always, sleep through my guest speaker. XD

Meaning sleep til noon and slay any living thing that comes within a foot of my bedroom door.

Netto Azure March 21st, 2012 10:59 PM

Ah a 6-page final treatise supporting demand side economics.

Should be a fun night. :P

Gah, wai won't u open up PoliSci 40! :(

Legendary Silke March 21st, 2012 11:24 PM

Some classes are so groan-worthy. So boring, in fact, that you want to storm out.

Ugh... Sports Day is one of the stupidest day for me... I don't participate in races and stuff so I don't even care about it. But if I don't attend it they cut my grades :/

Her March 22nd, 2012 1:31 AM

Bleh, sports days. I was never a sporty person, so I just either skipped those days or read for six hours, lol.

Legendary Silke March 22nd, 2012 1:46 AM

I tend to just sleep through sports days.

Nihilego March 22nd, 2012 2:03 AM

Once again I'm gonna go against everyone in this thread and go on a huge tl;dr about how amazing sports are and how you're all terrible people for not liking them.

Or I would if ^ didn't more or less summarise it lol. I always really looked forward to sports days and any sport in general. I can't do any right now, though, since I messed up my ankle last week and it's not completely better yet. Annoying since it's been really nice out lately.

Legendary Silke March 22nd, 2012 3:35 AM

I think I did goof up and messed up my ankle sometime in the past.

On another topic, what do you think of not having an avatar or signature?

Nihilego March 22nd, 2012 3:42 AM

I've done mine in so many times haha.

I don't really think anything of it. As you can see.

vaporeon7 March 22nd, 2012 4:12 AM

Sports day is more about school spirit anyway. And to hell with school spirit, it can go die.

Nihilego March 22nd, 2012 4:39 AM

Why the aversion to being happy with your school, Vappy? ):

Although ngl my school tends to take school spirit way too far lol. It can get really annoying sometimes when we just want to learn stuff and not have spirit shove down our throats.

Legendary Silke March 22nd, 2012 5:05 AM

I don't think I really have some sort of school spirit back then, to be honest about it.

Seki March 22nd, 2012 5:19 AM

School spirit, the real school spirit in my school is gone since 2 years ago because of the change of Principal who only cares about academic success.

Legendary Silke March 22nd, 2012 5:34 AM

That kind of principal = super boring! It's like you get to do nothing else...

Seki March 22nd, 2012 5:37 AM

Exactly, ever since he came in 1 and a half years ago, the school has lesser and lesser school events. As a result of his pursue of academic success, there are 2 graded tests every school term now (1 school term being 10 weeks, 1 year has 4 terms). There used to be 1 graded test every term and 2 mini pop quiz test where you can flunk. But now, there's no chance of failure.

Oryx March 22nd, 2012 5:43 AM

Isn't doing good academically a good thing though?

I literally cried when I had to run in school, lol.

Shiny Celebi March 22nd, 2012 6:25 AM

I didnt like my school much, the principal wasnt very good and neither was the one who took over after she stepped down as principal.

Cello March 22nd, 2012 6:46 AM

My high school principal was a total bad ass... When he had to do his occasional "sit down in class and see how the teacher/students are doing" duties he would come sit around us and be all like "I'm thinking about getting a tattoo on my arm. What should I get?!"
Or he would make a bet about something silly.

One time he lost a bet to a student and had to wear a woman's wig around the campus for a day, heh.

Then he resigned and some cross-eyed lady took his place. She was all about the rules.

Oh lordy, I miss high school. Good times... good times.

Sweet Candace March 22nd, 2012 6:58 AM

I had a really mean and strict assistant principal in middle school. She was really scary. After 7th grade, she left to be the principal at another school in the district.

Livewire March 22nd, 2012 6:58 AM

If you're a principal you need to balance academic success with being an advocate for the kids. Being a good educator is much more than just simply throwing the books at them.

I agree with this. You'd need to be strict when need be, but you would also need to be warm and welcoming, and be a good mentor for some students sometimes too.

I had really bad "senioritis" at that point in my senior year. I just spent the last 2 months counting down the days until graduation. ^_^

Cello March 22nd, 2012 7:57 AM

Oh god, senioritis. I had that, only the entire time I was in High School.
I remember during my last semester during my senior year in high school I already had every credit I needed to graduate, so I truly mailed it in that semester. I skipped my first period A LOT, which was just some sculpting class. The teacher absolutely hated me for it, and tried so hard to make sure I wouldn't graduate.

One day he actually got the principal on me, so she sat down with me in her office and look over my credits and I just told her "I already have all of the credits I need."
She realized that and told the teacher and he was even more pissed, haha.

God, now that I think about it, he tried everything in his power to fail me. For our final project we had to create a package that could protect an egg from shattering in rough circumstances. My project was the only one that protected the egg in the entire class, yet he still failed me for it. x]

I hate those teachers that just have it out for students and try everything in the book to fail you. Even if your situation when you pass your final project, you still failed that class.

Saryka March 22nd, 2012 7:59 AM

Oh man, I had mad senioritis in my last year of high school. I wanted to leave before school even began. :P Not that my school was bad or anything, because it certainly wasn't, but I just really wanted to move on. And people were like "don't wish your high school life away you'll grow to miss it later yada yada yada" but honestly, not a day has gone by where I thought to myself, "man, y'know, I miss high school." It's more like, I think of high school and I'm like, "hasta la vista suckaaas!"

I am a very bad college student. :(

Me too. There isn't a day that goes by when I think about missing high school. I enjoy college and creating my own schedule. Instead of having to go all 5 days of the week, I'm going 3.

Because school is something that we all have dealings with at certain points in our lives. Like puberty. And we like to compare stories of how bad it was for us. Like puberty.

Cello March 22nd, 2012 8:34 AM

I think it's fair to say that's just educationitis.
I have that severely. I can't be force fed information or told to do something a certain way, rather I just like to learn things on my own.

Most of my college work is incredibly fun but even so i'm still reluctant to do it, mainly because i'm being assigned something and told to do it a certain way.

Livewire March 22nd, 2012 9:08 AM

Haha, I just find it funny how the topic always seems to roll back to school. I have this massive aversion to school in general and I'll even tell my friends, like "let's talk about happy things and leave school for when we actually have to go." You could say I have the educationitis.

But, all the classes I liked were elective classes, classes I took to help get credits to graduate.

Saryka March 22nd, 2012 9:54 AM

I took some of the weirdest electives in school, haha. Grade nine, I picked visual arts, even though I knew I was terrible at drawing and I was much better in music. Grade ten, I picked computer science because I thought I would want a career in that field, but I decided against it partway through the course. Grade eleven, I took chemistry, physics, and biology. The only one I actually liked was bio. I nearly failed physics, and chemistry and I have never gotten along and never well. I took two math courses in grade twelve and I wholly regret it, especially since I'm not using any of those skills right now (I'm a French major).

tl;dr I should have picked music as an elective throughout all four years but I never did alkdgnsldgkn

Quite so. We had to use an interpreter language to make a video game. Limits- 16KB and it had to be in 3D. I still wonder how I made an FPS (and later figure out how to cut down about 2KB or so)

Saryka March 22nd, 2012 10:21 AM

We had a grade nine "business" course (which wasn't the course I took), and it sounded all important and economical and stuff but in reality, it was like, "what is a keyboard" "what is Microsoft Word" "how do you make things bold in Word" and so on. :/

Sweet Candace March 22nd, 2012 10:25 AM

I took a bunch of "sports" business classes that eventually led to me choosing Sports Management as my intended major at college.

They really are. Most of the ones I took in high school were for people who have basically never used a computer in their life. To my surprise there were a couple of guys in that class who seemed to not know what they were doing, asking questions relating to how to get on the internet.
All I could think was "Whaaaaat, have you never used a computer before in your life?!"

It was an easy A, though!

Heart's Soul March 22nd, 2012 10:54 AM

This video deserves to be our new topic. It's a friend playing Amnesia until to the 3 minute mark where he starts crying and changes it to a crap loop song he made.

Karma Police March 22nd, 2012 11:36 AM

School is hell for me. It's an absolute crap school that is still considered 'good' because of it's past reputation. The teachers don't teach well, you don't get enough opportunities, etc.

Alice March 22nd, 2012 11:51 AM

I played Amensia and it didn't phase me at all... I jumped a little at the end, but that's it. (And that was one of those "I'm not gonna make it, I'm not gonna make it... omg I made it!" kind of moments.)

Cello March 22nd, 2012 5:20 PM

And just like that, DCC dies lol.

It's unfortunate that got rescheduled, but still, that's kinda neat that that's going on so close by.
We have a small air port nearby so we get to see a lot of the single person/small group planes landing/taking off and flying overhead, but that pales in comparison to a rocket. :O

Oryx March 22nd, 2012 9:11 PM

New Jersey always ruins everything. Everyone has to learn that lesson at some point in their lives.

Archenoth March 22nd, 2012 9:24 PM

It would appear as though I missed the MLP conversation... Oh well. :V

And New Jersey does ruin everything... They are the only thing that could make a shore sound unpleasant...

Cello March 22nd, 2012 9:26 PM

I've never actually been to New Jersey, but I have a friend who does nothing but talk about how she wants to live there.
Personally I think she's crazy judging by all of the things I've heard about it.

Oryx March 22nd, 2012 9:29 PM

I live in New Jersey when I'm not at college...south jersey is bad, really bad. Camden is one of the worst cities in the nation, I think Detroit is worse than it in the rankings this year but it never drops below top 5. North Jersey I've heard is nice though.

But in reality Jersey doesn't have its own culture lol. South Jersey people are Philadelphians, and North Jersey people are New Yorkers.

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ March 22nd, 2012 10:39 PM

I've been to new Jersey once. I don't remember it being horrible, but I don't recall anything particularly wonderful about it either.

I was there for an event in the Somerset/North Brunswick area, which is kinda close to the NYC metro area. Close enough so most everything's pretty much urban.

I'd still rather go to Jersey than Hoenn, though :P

I can't stand when certain things get over-hyped.

I agree, and in this case in particular since I've read the books and don't think they're all that exceptional. I've already agreed to see the movie with friends on Sunday, but I kinda don't want to now.

Read the first two chapters and it seems like a promising book!

Meh, I wasn't really impressed by it. It's a clearly overhyped book. The first half was good, but towards the end, it turned into a Twilight clone. Too much kissing and stuff at the end lol.

Out of curiosity, who would want to see a Russian getting scared by Amnesia?

I love The Hunger Games. The books were really good, so I hope the movie is as well. Seeing it on Monday. Id like to re read the book some before seeing it, just because I love the book and want to remember everything.
