Nope, e-mail is banned at my school. =\ Everything except Live e-mail but I dislike that e-mail client.

TwilightBlade April 1st, 2012 10:13 AM

At school, this girl went on AOL.com and opened her email (cue "you've got mail") to retrieve a powerpoint she had emailed herself...

What's worse? She was using internet explorer to open it, which was slow, and some guys told her to use Firefox, which did work instantly. xD;

Oryx April 1st, 2012 10:14 AM

You've Got Mail was on Austin Powers last night and we all lol'd, haha.

Our school isn't "partnered" with Google, but every student and faculty member has a Gmail account.

Job interview where?

And did anyone else use the custom voices for AOL? I used Mandy Moore, I remember specifically haha.

Cello April 1st, 2012 10:24 AM

I remember receiving those AOL trial disks in the mail just about every month.
I never used the discs, but the cases they came in would always be really cool and decorated nice. I would use them to store money or notes away in a safe place.

Oryx April 1st, 2012 10:26 AM

Ooh that's the Sam's Club place right?

Except not Sam's Club

Gross. Internet Explorer. I gave that up in 2008. Ahh, good times.

I switched to Firefox in 2008 and I'm never going to regret it!

INTERNET EXPLORER VS FIREFOX. Firefox wins.

Haha they always had these free AOL disks sitting at my grocery store. I took one every time I went. When I got home, I threw it around like a frisbee. .-.

My (and my brother's) first AOL email account was dognots. Guess what rude people called us whenever we entered a chatroom. O__O

Who didn't get those disks in the 90s? :p

I want to say we used AOL for a short bit. Maybe. It wasn't when I was using the Internet. By the time I did, we were in the US and running cable. Also, it was 2004.

Could be worse. For awhile, I was using... Netscape. IE would've been loads better. :(

I'm the same way, though. Once I got used to Firefox, I haven't switched browsers since. If I did it'd likely be to Chrome, not IE. idk, I just don't like how IE is set up compared to Firefox and Chrome.

Palamon April 1st, 2012 10:32 AM

Netscape. I used to use their dial-up for my internet and I remember how terrible it was. =\ Once it stopped working and I had no internet. But this was all when I was 11.

Oryx April 1st, 2012 10:32 AM

TB my sister and I shared an AOL account too! [email protected] :3

No way, I so did that too! Me and my cousins would toss them at the ceiling fan. In retrospect that probably wasn't a good idea, but it was fun!

As for AOL chat,
I never participated in the AOL chat rooms, but I remember playing this old chat game called Unichat. So many memories. ;_;

There was even a program that let you make your own maps for that game.
The servers shut down looong ago though unfortunately.

I like how the text is "do you have a nice body" and "how old are you". Reminds me of The Palace!

Palamon April 1st, 2012 10:35 AM

There's only one thing about e-mails...

ALL THE SPAM. AND ALL THE DATE MAIL SPAM I GET. How in the world do they get my e-mail username in the first place?

I hate SPAM mail so much.

LOL, Why did I not see that? Classic Unichat...

TwilightBlade April 1st, 2012 10:42 AM

Hmmm the only thing I remember playing is Oregon Trail. That game is BOSS!

Yup, I totally threw those disks at the ceiling fan too. 8D

Oryx April 1st, 2012 10:42 AM

Yuki did you know that if you use gmail you can use different emails that all reroute to the same email to figure out who sent what email or where they got it? I forget how it works but if you use a certain symbol the rest of the email isn't read so you can put the symbol and then a marker (like "facebook" if that's the email you've given to facebook), then you look at what email the spam people sent you the stuff and you can find out who sold your email address to spammers.

Palamon April 1st, 2012 10:48 AM

I've never heard of something like that before. I should try this because I'm tired of all the spam mail I've been getting lately.

(Oh, and this is my 900th post.)

Oryx April 1st, 2012 11:01 AM

I have post goals but I don't talk about them because it's ~COOL~ to not care about post count on PC lool.

Karma Police April 1st, 2012 11:03 AM

I hate spammers, because of some emails a few of them sent me. I remember getting one or two about ***** enlargement creams. I mean, wtf man.

Cello April 1st, 2012 11:05 AM

I remember I had about 600 posts to my name when I returned about 2-3 months ago. Now it's about twice that.
I've been doing some serious posting since I came back. :P

Though that's mainly because I used to only post in the Emulation/Video Game sections. Now I try to post forum-wide.

Oryx April 1st, 2012 11:09 AM

I've been DCC crazy lately, which is a definitely post count bump but I just enjoy the DCC lol. Plus I post more when I have goals to hit so I like setting goals. :B

I post mainly in OT I would have over 300 posts by now if I posted all over the forums(or if post in OT went towards post count)

Dreg April 1st, 2012 11:20 AM

I seem to post mainly in the Other Voting Polls. I do have a look at the other areas, but it's rare I post in those areas.
