Rate the Video Game Music Above You
Do you like listening to video game music? Well then here's your chance to show off some of your favourites to others and see what they think of it. The rules are simple; give the video game music above you a rating on a scale of 1-10, explain your score, and then post your own!
I'll start: |
Nice, reminds me of a zelda flashback. A bit synth-y though.
Love the art for that game. 6/10 |
Like it very much, althrough i have no R/S/E game anymore...
8/10 A 1995 classic RTS game with some very good soundtracks like this one... |
Sort of dull, but catchy nonetheless!
7.0/10.0 |
That... was.. awesome...
Maybe i can use this... 10/10 ill stick to CnC, but this one is the first that fed me up with the style... |
Impressive! I especially loved the addition of the keyboard, which just so happens to be my favourite instrument.
8.5/10.0 |
6/10, nothing jumps out at me.
Jak And Daxter is just so classic. |
7/10
It was good... This song infected me to play the old CnC, and almost everyone in my class likes it.. |
You really love that game, don't you? Anyhow, I'm not the biggest fan of the way the instruments fit into this one, though it is still good.
7.0/10.0 |
5/10. Not bad, not great.
Sly Cooper |
Catchy, but rather dismal and forgettable. I love the way it builds up towards the end, though!
6.0/10.0 |
Quote:
As for the song: 9/10, i really liked it... This one was cut off, but somehow it appears in one mission... |
By the end of this, I'll have heard the entire soundtrack of that game. This one is very radiant and I love that! It's a shame the keyboard didn't stick with more of the song, though.
7.5/10.0 |
9/10, I loved that game. the song gave me goose bumps and made me want to play it again. Fitting music for the first stage imo.
I've had a kick for this game lately. |
You made that? Consider me impressed! You clearly have a lot of musical talent. I love the soundfont you used!
7.5/10.0 Considering these forums are dedicated to Pokémon, I suppose it's about time I post some music from that series, huh? I find this to be the catchiest theme in the series: |
5.5/10 Sorry, but when it came to those kind of situations, I prefered a more serious tone of music since most of us ragequit over looking for a specific Pokemon, item, etc.
Now how about Portal 2's Bombs for Trowing at You? |
Meh, it's kind of a mess. The song could have used more consistent development, too.
4.5/10.0 |
6/10, it was okay
Now its time for another game... |
Gorgeous! The addition of vocals kind of ruined it for me, but that's merely because I'm not a fan of such a thing in video game music. Regardless, this sounds fantastic and I love the instruments!
8.5/10.0 |
You forgot to rate the music above you. Also, sorry about my misunderstanding. :P
Anyways, that is my favourite version of the "Hall of Fame" theme. I like how this version is so fast-paced, yet I find it a little overdone. 7.5/10.0 |
7/10
I'm a big fan of Kirby, but unfortunately I'm not too fond of Pop Star. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=be1II2E7OjY (Gah.. Youtube vid isn't work with me today.) |
Not bad! The song explores, and I like that, though I find the background instruments a little more interesting.
8.0/10.0 |
5/10
Not so good at all... This is an SSX soundtrack, and its epic: |
7/10 Yeah, kinda good...UKF WOO
So how does Your Majesty think of this one? |
This is incredible! It sounds dangerously similar to Castlevania — for a time, anyways. It would've been nice to hear another instrument, though.
9.0/10.0 |
8/10 That was kinda suprising...
LocoRoco Midnight Carnival - Aio Aio If you do not rate this 6 or above, you shall perish!!! |
A very joyful song! Again, I'm not the biggest fan of lyrics in video game music, but the instruments are predominant in comparison so it doesn't bother me all that much.
8.0/10.0 |
8/10
That was loud, but it was good. |
Aggh god I love SSBB. 8/10
^Hardest level on the game, I believe. |
9/10 That was great!!!
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon EOT/D Quicksand Pit |
7/10
Good, but not as much as some other PMD themes. Prefer this over it. |
5/10 Xatu's weird.
Now how about: LocoRoco 2 - Yare Yare |
4/10
Too happy. Not my thing. Song of Storms/SSBB Oh yeah, do remixes of video game songs go here? Or the other thread? |
7/10
Pokemon Black and White Music - Rare Wild Pokemon Battle |
6/10
I like it better than most wild Pokemon battle themes. Zelda's Lullaby/Legend of Zelda |
3/10 Not too fond of Zelda BGM
Ferris Wheel- Pokemon Black/White |
6/10
It's pleasant, but not one of my favourite tracks from Black & White. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers Of The Sky - Defend Globe This soundtrack actually reduced many people to shed a few tears, understandably if you have played the game up to this point as I myself found it emotional. |
OMFG HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS. |
7/10
I've never played this game before but I can understand how it's beautiful. Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire - Ending Theme. Whilst on ending themes, this one to me just chimes nostalgia. |
8/10 |
2/10 It has it's ups and downs.
N's Castle Bridge- Pokemon Black/White |
Nice to know my thread's slowly gaining more popularity. Anyhow, at a time that was my favourite theme in Black and White. I love the upbeat determination this song emits. It's more fitting for that particular part of the game's story than I could ever explain. I love it!
8.5/10.0 |
9/10 Great...
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon EOT/D Treeshroud Forest |
8.5/10 pretty good!
Here is what might possibly be the most bada** Sonic song: Shadow the Hedgehog:I am all of me. |
8.5/10 - Indeed badass.
Now! To equalize it with something mellow. |
8/10! I like it! It is calm and relaxing.
Now, time for one of my fave Street Fighter songs! Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo:Akuma's Theme. |
9/10 I pretend to play Street Fighter with my brother but usually in my house LOL.
|
9/10! One of the best songs in HG/SS!
Here is another Sonic song, but this is one of the most memorable: Sonic the Hedgehog:Green Hill Zone. |
Ahh... 9/10
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2: Temporal Tower |
10/10 That game, that scene, that circumstance... One of the first Pokemon games I played through, and damn. I am not gonna lie, I was in tears at the end.
On PMD's note... |
10/10 Memories of Temporal Tower...
|
7/10 for SoulSilver and the nice melodic mystery.
Live And Learn- Sonic Adventure 2 |
That was pretty good. =D
8.5//10 Creepy music lovers, this is for you! :D |
6/10 it was ok... I was expecting it to pick up eventually like Doom 3's theme does...
Speaking of which... |
That was terrific. Loved it. <333 10//10
I like it, I guess. Catchy tune. :3 |
2/10
Sorry, I don't play the Devil May Cry series although you have a nice signature. I'm gonna do a lot of Spyro tracks in this thread, the first 3 games had my fave video game music ever. This one is on the level "Ice Cavern" from the first game. |
5/10 Not bad, but I wouldn't listen to this outside of the game.
I love this song, makes me wish it was warmer out here XD |
10/10
Never played it, but sounds very Australian so I had to give it a 10 cos I'm from the land down under. Another piece of music by Stewart Copeland from Spyro The Dragon. This one is from the level "Haunted Towers", which was considered one of the hardest levels in the game. |
8/10
That's pretty catchy. And it certainly got my foot's approval, since I was immediately tapping along to the beat, haha. Ninja'd because of slow internet, bah. 8/10 Why am I such a sucker for faster-paced songs? Anyway, sound pretty nice. Definitely has that Spyro ring to it that I remember, haha. One of my favourite battle themes, The Edge of Green from Radiant Historia. |
5/10
Not exactly my kind of game music. Time for more music from the nostalgia-Spyro-crazy Hikari. This one is from the boss level "Doctor Shemp" in the first game. I love this one, it's one of my fave tracks from the game. |
6/10
Pretty decent. Make it a priority to play this game if you haven't yet and you have anything that can play Gamecube games. |
4/10
Fairly decent. More Spyro 1 music. This one is from the level "Gnorc Cove". |
7/10
I like most of the Spyro soundtracks. I remember hearing this and thinking it was beautiful. |
10/10
Best Pokemon music ever. This piece of Spyro 1 music comes from the level "High Caves", which has two different versions of music depending on your region. This is the US version. (I might post the Australian/European version later). |
7/10 The music is alright. You can hear it's videogame music (that's not always a bad thing, mind you), but I'm missing some variation in the music. |
1/10
Not that keen on Legend of Zelda since I don't even play it. Time for more Spyro 1 music! This one comes from one of the speedway levels "Wild Flight". |
Why do I get the feeling you rated the song for the game, and not for the song itself? :V
8/10 That's a more upbeat song, I can easily imagine having a (minigame) race on it. |
1/10
Still not a Zelda fan cos I ain't play the games plus most Zelda music doesn't suit me. This is my fave music from the original Spyro, I love how it changes drastically. This one is from the level "Dark Passage", which is considerably one of the hardest levels due to the enemies that change from cute to scary when it's dark. This apparently had the most well-received music from the first Spyro game. |
Geez, you don't have to act like that... It's not like Zelda is the only game series I like... >_>
I don't play Spyro either... but anyways... It's a nice song, it sounds pretty calm though for what seems to be a scary place (?). Works well for background music. 7.5/10 |
8/10
It sounds very calming & nice. I loved playing Crash Bandicoot. |
8/10 A theme that works very well for a desert town. Must be nice to walk around the bazaars and what not. :3 It kinda makes me want to post the song for the Gerudo Desert. You may choose, the first one is from the Symphony, the second one is the original. Sorry, Hikari10 |
3/10
Alright but I don't play Zelda. Time for a homeworld theme from the first Spyro game. This one is from the homeworld for "Peace Keepers", which is the second world in the game. |
3/10
Firstly it reminds me too much of many other games that came before it or around when it did and is kinda unoriginal to me. Secondly, it's repetitive to the point where it was agonizing to sit through the entire thing. This particular song is one that plays in the world map menu of Lost Odyssey, one of my all time favorite games. It's a pity that it's there, as many people are only in the menu briefly :c |
1/10
Boring, I don't like the pacing. More classic Spyro 1 music, this one is from the level "Lofty Castle". |
5/10 Pretty standard song. Nothing pro, nothing contra. It's not exeptional, but it's not bad either.
"The flow of time is always cruel... Its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it..." Once a lush, green region, the province of Lanayru was unable to escape time itself as it turned into the desert area we see today. And even the ocean, with crystal clear water turned into an ocean of sand. I think this song managed to capture the passing of time very well... It gives me a feeling of sadness, the sand of the hourglass slipping through my fingers. When walking through the Lanayru desert, you see what once was, you live it... But once you step out of the Time Shift stone's reach, trees dry and whither, grass turns to sand and the proud civilisation that once was, ceases to exist. Even the Hero of Time could not escape time itself. |
6/10 I like how it sounds mysterious.
His World- Sonic The Hedgehog |
10/10! One of the best Sonic songs ever!
Now here is a song from the Japanese Sonic CD soundtrack. People usually prefer the Japanese soundtrack over the US one. Sonic CD:Collision Chaos Zone (Present). |
5/10
Not what I expected it to be, there's Sonic music better than this. More Spyro 1 music, I'll eventually cover them all throughout this thread. This one is from the level "Wizard Peak". |
2/10
Doesn't even sound what I expected it, I thought Shadow The Hedgehog would have dark, edgy music. Another music from the original Spyro, this is from the boss level "Jacques". |
7/10 never got to that level before in sypro 1 but it's still a pretty good piece of music.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2SMcn_p92Q Final boss music from Shadow of the Colossus. |
8/10
It was very good. I loved it. |
4/10
It's decent music but it sorta reminds me of something, can't remember it though. I'm now gonna throw in some music of the very first game I played - Crash Bandicoot. This one is from the level "Generator Room" and is my fave track from the first game, the sound on this one is very intense. |
Ah Crash bandicoot the old game will always be better then the new ones in the series anyway i give it 6/10.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9Pu92St5O0 Now i'm going to throw in abit of a sad song from Metal gear Solid 4 which is the music from the final cutsence named=Father and Son. |
2/10
I don't even play the MGS series cos stealth just isn't my specialty plus this song is way too tearjerking. Yeah, too sad for me. More classic Crash Bandicoot music, this one is the boss fight against N. Gin in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back. |
Hmm who am i to judge.
Anyway i give the song 4/10 not the kind of music i want to listen to when i'm facing a boss. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDTRSuBroDM Final boss music from Super Smash Brothers Brawl |
8/10
Epic for me despite not playing any Nintendo franchises other than Pokemon. Still epic awesome. More music from the original Crash Bandicoot - this one was on two levels "Heavy Machinery" and "Castle Machinery". One of my fave music tracks from the game. |
6/10
Sounds a lot like Mario for me... Dark Cave/Pokemon G/S/C My absolute favorite from Gen 2 |
9/10
Almost reminds me from the nostalgic days of Pokemon. Time for more Crash Bandicoot music - this one is from Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, appearing on the two future levels "Future Frenzy" and "Gone Tomorrow". |
8/10 very good music (no wonder i liked those stages((levels)) so much.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKad7K1nj5c&feature=related Regigias battle music |
8/10
Still awesomely epic Legendary battle music. Time for more Spyro music - this one is on the level "Metropolis" from Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage (renamed Gateway To Glimmer in Europe/Australia). My fave music from that game btw. |
7/10 it's a pretty good piece of music
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSKxTqDvsas Reds theme from heart gold and soulsliver |
9/10
This song was the reason I took so long to beat Red. Lavender Town/Pokemon FR/LG Another one of my favorites. |
8/10. Wow.
Digimon World Dusk/Dawn music - Battle theme 2 |
6/10
Nice and it's very basic. More Crash music - this one is from the level "Eskimo Roll" in Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex. It's one of the 3 levels in the game that involves travelling in a ball. |
3/10 just don't really like the sound of it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yR_wsNLTL-4 Heres the final theme played dring the final levels of the Megaman Battle network series. |
5/10
Not my taste of music. Gonna do some Ratchet & Clank now, this is the theme of Planet Snivelak from Ratchet & Clank 2: Going Commando (renamed Locked And Loaded in Europe/Australia). I love how epic this one is, I love a lot of R&C music in general. |
6/10 it seems very spacey
This is way Nostalgic. Took forever to get this video. Life In The Mines- DK |
7/10
Yeah, that's definite nostalgia. More Ratchet & Clank music - this is on Planet Endako from Ratchet & Clank 2: Going Commando. One of my fave music tracks from that game. |
7/10
I like it for the futuristic effect and beat it has goin' while keeping the music box thing going at the same time. Adds a mysticism to the song that's pretty interesting. One of my favorite boss battles of all time features this soundtrack and honestly, this is one of my favorite boss themes ever. |
6/10
Not a big fan of Zelda but it looks epic. Also, I love the music from Ratchet & Clank btw. Now, here's some music from Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal. This one is in the general area of Planet Daxx. My fave music track from that game. |
